SPYPOINT Positive Reviews

Solid functioning appLatest version has bugs with selecting and deleting photos. On the Photos tab, selecting all pictures in a day and then deselecting one or more pics disables the delete button. To get delete button re-enabled, you can deselect and reselect a pic while all others are selected or deselected. Then clicking the delete button will delete ALL your pics from that day - even the ones you deselected. So two bugs 1) delete button is disabled 2) unselected pics are deleted if they are in the same range as group selection (day, last week, months). Keeping in mind that people that are installing this app are people that have purchased the cameras. One annoyance is the photo deleted confirmation message. It appears over the delete button - so when you are reviewing large version of pic and delete a pic, you have to wait until the confirmation banner disappears before deleting the next pic. Slows you down. Yes, you can delete a bunch of pictures at one in the small display mode, but the banner slows you down when viewing the pics at larger display. Also the bug mentioned above messes up the mass delete function. The function to take a pic is missing. This ties in with the camera communication. You cannot instigate it through the app. You have to wait for the camera to communicate on its schedule. That means changes cannot be done on the fly - they are tied to the cameras set schedule (user set). The functions that are in the app, work well..Version: 3.8.0

Enhancing Convenience: SPYPOINT Micro-Link-LTE Trail Camera App ReviewThe app is decent, and the SPYPOINT micro-link-LTE trail camera performs well. The only notable improvement would be the option to conveniently add add-ons within the app. In my experience with the app and the SPYPOINT micro-link-LTE trail camera, I found them both to be satisfactory. The app provides a decent user interface and functionality, while the camera itself performs admirably. One aspect that could greatly enhance the user experience is the incorporation of a feature that allows for easy add-ons directly within the app. This would eliminate the need for extra steps and make the process more streamlined. Overall, with a minor improvement like this, the app-camera combination could offer a more seamless and convenient outdoor monitoring solution. I use this camera on my driveway to keep tabs on any activity, and it has proven to be quite effective in capturing movements and events. The SPYPOINT micro-link-LTE trail camera's performance in this specific setting has been reliable, providing clear and detailed images. Having the ability to monitor my driveway remotely through the app adds an extra layer of convenience to my surveillance setup. With the potential for future app updates that allow for more convenient add-ons, the camera's functionality could be further enhanced for driveway monitoring and beyond..Version: 4.6.0

App great, cameras good, cs okay4* for app for one feature request. I’d like a remote trigger. Should have a button to force a pic. Helps to set up camera positions or remote trigger if you suspect something is there. Never had a problem with the app. Seems to work perfectly. Cameras are generally good. Noticed it has missed activity like when I drove by in a utv. Usually catches me but sometimes doesn’t trigger. Sometimes play with position to improve solar and cell. I know we get Verizon better than att so know your preferred carrier for that area. We also switched our phones to Verizon for this reason. One camera has always been flawless. The other has had intermittent issues (4*). Cs was okay helpful but didn’t refund the three months of no pics. Problem is when you try a fix and then do t go back to the lease that’s 3 hours away for a few months. So for a few months you don’t get pics. But no refund on monthly fee despite obvious ongoing problems. My friend had an issue with one of three cameras and they sent him a replacement. Overall it’s still worth it I think. Can’t imagine having to pull cards!! Had my two cameras for just over a year so far..Version: 3.5.0

Nice concept, but disappointing performanceThis Link-Micro was my first trail cam and purchased primarily to capture pics of vehicles, including rear license plates, which enter/exit our 500 ft long driveway. Getting pics of wildlife is nice, also. Camera operation and iPhone app setup were relatively simple, although did need to format SD card in computer. Camera ate up 8 alkaline batteries in less than one month and 350 pictures. Switched to lithium and those are still showing 100% charge after 3 weeks and 200+ pictures. Tried several different camera settings and locations, but found it’s hit or miss to capture good picture of the rear of a vehicle. Have it set up to take 2 “instant” photos of every detection, but shutter speed is such that it usually only captures a vehicle or wildlife in only one picture and sometimes misses entirely. It rarely captures the rear of our vehicles with normal use of our driveway, so it’s doubtful we would catch a good shot of a potential intruder vehicle. If it does capture rear of vehicle, must take SD card out of camera to view picture on computer to have a chance of reading license plate. Might be able to make out make, model and color of vehicle, if daylight picture. An annoyance is failure of iPhone Spypoint app to remember login credentials, in spite of checking “Remember Me” box. Also, initial screen usually appears each time, in spite of checking box for “Do Not Show Again.”.Version: 2.16.0

Not the perfect cellular camera, but pretty darn goodThe camera isn’t perfect, but it does what’s advertised. It’s virtually a maintenance free camera in regards to battery life. What more can you ask for with a cellular camera. I do wish it had the option to send pics on demand, but every 2 hours isn’t bad. The transmitted pics are good, not great. More than good enough to get a good look a what’s been coming around. The pictures off the sd card are extremely good. You should be using class 10 card high speed card. My signal was 1-2 bars so installed an external antenna and now never below 3 bars. The camera won’t operate at it fullest capacity unless the signal is at least 3 bars. Remember that the camera is NOT associated with your own cell phone carrier. It’s all thru SPYPOINT. It’s very important to check what cell carrier has the best reception at your particular place. I added antenna to my at&t camera and my buddy gets a constant 4-5 bars with Verizon version and is about 1/4 mile from me. The only issue I have with the app is that most of the time I can’t check internal battery percentage. I have to keep pressing internal battery tab and it will just randomly pop up sometimes. Other than that, it’s a great camera..Version: 2.8.0

Worth the moneyThe SPYPOINT micro that I have has been a great investment. The new update has some bugs that definitely need addressed. I have it set up to transmit 12x a day and I’m lucky if I get pictures sent to me in a 2 day period. It’s slow and not sending photos as it should. Hopefully a new update will come out that will fix these issues. I pay for unlimited monthly photos and I’m not too happy that it goes 2-4 days without sending photos when I know deer are all around my feeder cause I’ve been sitting in my stand watching them but never receive pictures until 2 days later. If this is how it’s going to operate then I expect to get a refund for my monthly subscription or credit to my account for these issues. Other than that the photo quality is very good and when it’s working it does great and still worth the money..Version: 4.3.1

Average overall50% battery used for over 800 photos at max settings and continuous photo transfers. Probably could stretch it to a couple months on easier settings. Trigger speed a little slow, missed about 20% of activity, similar to other past average priced cameras I’ve had. Wireless was fine for me. I mapped the cell towers to pick a set up spot that wasn’t too blocked, and got 100% transfer rate. 1st time setup was a little frustrating, but it worked itself out. App was simple and user friendly, but it claimed a cat was a turkey lol and only claimed 1 out of 20 doe pics as a doe. Maybe bucks work better. I loved the idea of being able to change camera settings from the phone, especially one windy days that eat up your SD card and batteries with trophy pics of shadows and swaying branches. Overall I’ve see much worse. I think it will shine best paired with a field scan or fast reliable regular camera. That way you won’t miss any SD pics at the end and yet still get a preseason peek from home into activity without disturbing your spot..Version: 2.10.4

Select ALL buttonThe app and desktop access is very useful and straightforward. Both could stand to have a “select all” button in addition to the select button. In cases where a certain camera recorded lots of pictures, it would be nice to be able to select “all” of the pictures with a single click of a button to make deleting pictures less time consuming …. With a select all function you could then un-select the few pictures you want to keep rather than having to select each picture one-by-one to delete the one’s you don’t want to keep. If you have a fair number of cameras, deleting pictures you don’t want takes quite a bit of time. If there is a way to select all pictures in a specific camera that I am not aware of, please advise..Version: 4.6.0

Camera works alrightI got my SPYPOINT micro about a week ago. I took it to the field and it worked great! Batteries lasted about a week before needing changed in my case. It stopped sending pictures to the app. About a day after I went ahead and swapped the batteries because they had gotten down to %30. I started it back up in the field and it worked for a night. Now it shows that the fresh batteries I put in are already at %40 and it stopped sending me pictures. I’m still in the free trail for unlimited photos. I looked up what may be the issue. I followed the video provided and none of these work. I want it to work because it cost a decent amount of money I think it should last a little longer than a week after the purchase. If anyone has any idea to fix this that would be great..Version: 3.0.23

Apps not WORKING!I am an insider member. I’m having trouble with cell links and I’ve been on the phone with Support most of the day. I’m getting notifications to my phone showing the small picture on my iPhone notification then when I open the app the pictures are not there! One tech told me I needed to update my updates are up-to-date!I don’t know what’s going on but there’s a problem ! Thanks ———————————————————— App is working better now! Hopefully it will continue to get better. I did the iso 15 update on my phone it may have helped. I’m running 14 Spypoint products. They made it threw a rough hurricane here in Louisiana must be one of the toughest conditions on cams an cell links . Lots of big trees down some hunting areas can’t get to from trees down. Long recovery ahead. Thanks for your response Spypoint!! Mack.Version: 3.4.0

Great camera & AppI bought 2 Micro Link trail cameras and have had them out 1 week now and each camera has transmitted over 100 pictures. I have really enjoyed seeing what’s in my hunting areas in real time. I love the app and it’s ability to make changes to the camera remotely from my phone. I also bought 1 security box and I like it much better than the strap for mounting to the tree and I will be ordering another because I have had cameras stolen before. If I had to say anything negative about these cameras it would be the picture quality that is sent to your phone. They are a little fuzzy, SPYPOINT app says this is normal because pictures are compressed to be sent to your phone but the pictures are also captured on your SD card in the camera and they are top notch quality. The Micro Link is a awesome cellular trail cam at a great price..Version: 2.10.8

Working wellAs a trail camera I would say it is average to slightly below average in picture quality and trigger sensitivity. When combined with the cellular capability and the price point I would consider this camera to be above average overall. This camera does have quirks. You need to format your SD card on your home computer before inserting into the camera. Also, if you are using AA batteries you should always use lithium. Don't use rechargeable batteries unless it is designed for this camera. My camera has been in use since early September and it is almost the end of October. My original lithium batteries are still at 100% charge and that is averaging 10+ pictures a day. I consistently have 2 bars signal strength. The app is extremely easy to use..Version: 2.8.0

Photos won’t transfer...I have 3 SPYPOINT cameras, photos rarely transfer. I’ve done the filmware updates regularly, all the trouble shooting tips. They will send random pictures every once in a while. I’ve watched dozens of deer standing in front of my cameras. They will take pics, they just don’t send them. They are basically just card pull trail cams. I put new batteries in all three cameras today, checked the app, updated filmware files on the cards, cameras linked and had 100% battery and service. By 11pm one camera said it has 100 pics but only 25 transferred. One other camera is showing no pics and 49% battery life after 5hrs. The third camera is showing 60% battery life and says 30 pics but none of them transferred.......if I could give negative stars I would.Version: 3.3.0

Decent camera but unable to get serviceI have 2 link evos about a year old. Both have had issues after the batteries die. For some reason you have to reboot multiple times and leave camera on each detection so you know that it transmits before you leave the woods. Multiple times I’ve left only to have to return to reboot. That doesn’t work well when the property is 400 miles away. One doesn’t work at all. Tried all their tips and it just won’t work. IR flash stays on for 12 seconds at night and the shutter stays open I think. Pictures are horrible, but it won’t transmit those either. Kills lithium batteries in a day. I’ve tried email twice, called 3 times, and chat twice(52) in queue. No response after 2 weeks. Buy this camera knowing that it’s a little difficult to get working at times and tech support has been non existent due to overwhelming support needed for link micro according to their website..Version: 2.11.1

Great camera but have a request for the appI have the spypoint link WM and it’s a great camera. Gets the job done. I actually had purchased a camera from Walmart, got it and went to activate it and it would not work for some reason, even using spypoint customer support we could not get it to work, so I exchanged it at Walmart and this new one works great. Although I do have a request. The spypoint app has no option to change the picture notification sound and I would possibly like to do that to find a louder picture alert notification to wake me in the middle of the night, being that we are having a pig issue at our place and I would like to go out and take care of them when they are there. Is it possible for y’all to allow the option of changing the sound for the notification??.Version: 3.0.23

Has worked flawlesslyI purchased my Link-Evo cameras to put on property I own that is 5 hours away. I wanted to make sure they “WORK” before I plant them out there. I chose which camera by checking the Verizon and AT&T Data maps for that Area, and AT&T Is stronger there. I set the cameras up in my backyard and ran them for 6 months . I read the directions FIRST , and learned everything about them . What batteries I need for what I want them to do ...What can happen to them..What they can do...Don’t do...How they work best ... And things that can go wrong. Now I’m very confident they will work for me when I take them to my hunting property. Since this is really a review of the APP. I gave it 5 stars because it is very intuitive . Clean and easy to navigate. Works great on IPhone. It just simply “WORKS”. And that is a win in my book! I’ve heard some stories of people having issues with the product. Well just keep in mind. You usually always here the news that is bad. What broke..What Airplane crashed. And not good news. Or what didn’t break. Or what Airplane landed. I don’t care how good a product is. When there is a lot of it...A few mishaps will happen from time to time. As far as my cameras, and this app. I have ZERO COMPLAINTS! Thanks Spypoint!!.Version: 2.8.1

No notifications on iOS 16 and blurry picsI keep coming back to the App Store to check for an update since the latest app update I was forced to take now does not notify me of any pictures when they come in - however it will notify me when I get an HD pic in or a photo limit has been reached 🤔. I have all notifications on. I have 14 cameras and now the functionality is digressing…not good. Additionally, my pics are blurry while I’m flipping thru them. I can stop and toggle back and forth on a single pic and it will finally clear up but this is very time consuming. Why would functionality be going backwards with updates! I’m viewing them while on a strong WiFi connection so it can’t be connection speed. Could be related to the addition of the same FLEX advertisement that’s popped up and freezes screen every time I log in 🤦.Version: 4.4.1

Lacking features compared to other brands cellular modelsThe camera sends photos when I want, but the lack of detailed notifications per camera is missing. Sometimes they all don’t need to blast my phone when I’m only watching a specific few. Formatting the SD card remotely would be an awesome feature. Giving free analytics on what time of day is frequented to temp and moon phases would be nice. I am not a dang of your insiders program. It doesn’t actually give anything to the customer. Please come up with a better plan and something that works for multiple cameras. Might switch due to wanting multiple cameras but unlimited plans are expensive. I don’t want annual plans because I can’t hunt annually. Most of us don’t have hunting shows and can’t afford that cost annually. But hunting time, I will pay for unlimited to a certain degree..Version: 3.5.0

Honest opinionI bought spypoint when they first rolled out and paid close to what i paid for my very first trail cam in the early 90’s, so i understand cost for innovation. I never experienced battery issues, but i do use the recommended energizers, actually my batteries lasted all season into summer. The only issue i had was when i called for support, i waited an hour and a half, but support was very good when i got thru. I then went to cabelas and saw the micro on sale for $100, that kind of explains the slow support. Regardless of support, i have bought three micros since and cant be happier for the money. Pictures are not as good as evo but i can count points! Thanks for the great product, several of my friends and i enjoy them and the referral program..Version: 2.12.0

Great CompanyI’ve been with Spypoint for several years now and I must say we have had a great customer relationship, all of this time. I have 3 cameras and yes with a few bumps in the road along the way (not many) but Spypoint has always been kind to me and we got back to seeing thousands of pictures in very brief time. I always operated with the concept that is “ if you are pleasant to them they always return it two fold”. I can tell that this is a Christian company and i have been loyal to them for that and I feel, myself that all of the Customerservice reps that I delt with have been experts at what they do!!! I look forward to doing business many more years with them. Thanks Frank Price Sr..Version: 3.3.0

Spypoint products and customer servicePersonally I believe that the Spypoint trail cam company is hands down the best!! The customer service being available via chat and on call. That alone is priceless. The tech support and knowledge that these individuals have amazes me. The detection range and clarity on the link micro and the sell link both are great!! I would recommend this to a friend and have. We both own three and we are always sharing pictures from the cell link and the link micro. The prices on a transfer plan just can’t be matched. I don’t have one negative thing I can find to say about the products or service from Spypoint!! Thanks for such an amazing product!!.Version: 3.2.0

You get what you pay for...I bought the camera in hopes of catching a mailbox thief(s). Picture quality is ok not the best. Not real happy with the quantity of pics taken when it senses motion. Wish it took more. Caught 1 out of 3 thief’s on it. If the picture quality and frequency was better/more probably catch all 3. For the price of the camera tho I can buy 3 for the price of reconyx. Night pics have to be real close to capture an ok picture. If left on all day the batteries burn up quick. Good pics during daylight tho. Love the fact it can alert you when it takes pics and they’re on ur app on ur phone in case the camera happens to be stolen. Depending on how you use it i would recommend it. But for night security in a rural area with no power source close I’d say not so much. They definitely have the ability for improvement.Version: 2.9.1

Link DarkThis is my first cellular trail camera. I was extremely skeptical at first due to some of the negative reviews. I’ve only had the camera for one day but I wanted to write a review because this camera has surpassed my expectations in every department thus far. I’ve used a lot of trail cameras in the past. Cuddeback, Reconyx, Stealth Cam, etc.. The link dark was easier to set up than any other camera I’ve used. I had no problems linking my camera to the app. I then put the camera in my living room to see if it would take pictures and If they would send them to my phone. I’m receiving all the pictures on my phone. (Great picture quality) can’t wait to see how clear they are on the SD card. The only problem I’ve had is trying to change the cameras settings through the app. I would recommend to change the settings, through the camera, like photo delay before you put the camera in the field. It’s extremely easy to do on the camera and once you have your preferences picked out you’re ready to rock. Great product so far! Look forward to purchasing some more..Version: 2.6.2

App has improved a lotThis app has improved a lot over the last year. I do t like that it still goes to the login screen every time you open it, but since the password is saved it is ok I’d like if they could put a setting in the app to disable the camera from uploading pics. I k ow there is a cellular option but if you turn that off and then back on it will upload the pics that were taken while it was off. The use case is that if I k ow it is going to be windy all day today I’d rather be able to turn the cellular off to prevent uploading of unnecessary pics- BUT still keep them on the sad card. AND when I turn it back on- it will only upload new pics taken AFTER being turned back on..Version: 2.16.0

ExpectationsSpypoint cameras have fulfilled my expectations, I was worried about cell signal because where I hunt my cell phone doesn’t have much service or it is spotty, but with the large antenna they pick up very well, also was very impressed with the pick up range, mine camera says 90’ but it catches movement much further away! Cons. I wish I could link more camera to one monthly bill. And I wish they took a higher quality picture, I feel like I lose some definition through the text! But all in all if you want to get into the cellular cameras and not spend a arm and a leg I would recommend to the spypoint camera..Version: 3.5.0

SPYPOINT MicroI have had SPYPOINT the Micro for about a year now and I love the feature with sending photos right to my phone and how clear they are. The only downside I have noticed and maybe this may be on my end but after troubleshooting a few times it seems that the start up of my device has kind of slowed down over time and can now take up to 15 minutes of sitting and waiting before it begins to take photos. Other than just having to wait a little longer for it to start, all around an amazing product and would recommend, as I have several times already, to anyone!.Version: 3.6.2

JenniferI have had a great experience with the link evo cameras. I purchased 2 of them due to needing surveillance on my seasonal property that has no power that had been broken into. Not only were they easy to set up but 1 week after setting them up I was alerted by one of the cameras of another break in and was able to give the police a very detailed play by play report of what I was seeing so they could get the officers there and catch the two men in the act. If you have a seasonal cabin these work wonderful for surveillance. I have also had great technical support answering any/all my questions and concerns. Thank you SPYPOINT I highly recommend you and the link-evo!.Version: 2.3.0

Good valueOverall I think this is a great app and camera system. Lots of options and really lets you keep track of your hunting spots for both game and security. Best of all I think the value for the cellular plans is very good. There have been a few hiccups with the technology, mostly my fault and the customer service has been very helpful , and they stood by their warranty when one of my cameras quit working with a quick replacement. The only suggestion I would make to SPYPOINT is I wish there was a way to turn the camera on and off or reboot it from the app so when there was a problem you didn’t need to drive out and do it by hand ..Version: 2.9.1

ProblemI cant see my picture anymore, when I click on Photo its says, Oops sorry....Version: 3.0.18

Great App - One Request! So far this app does everything as advertised, and it’s a breeze to use… …with *one* exception: PLEASE can we get bulk delete?!?! When I have a ton of photos uploaded to my account, I *really* want to be able to check all the photos I don’t need, and tap Delete. And a Select All button would complement this feature nicely! It drives me nuts sitting there tapping the trash can, and then confirming the delete photo by photo by photo by photo…ad nauseam. It actually makes me feel nauseous. Add that feature and I’ll give you five stars as soon as the update installs!! Cheers.Version: 3.8.0

Good & BadI was happy with my two cameras. I do use them as security. They seemed to be doing the job fairly well. It’s too bad there’s at least a one minute delay between taking photos. Lots can happen in one minute. However since the forced update, I’ve been having issues. First, I do like the redesign of the app. It makes it a lot easier to see your basic information. But, the cameras don’t seem to be working as they should. One: They’re not taking photos when I know there’s activity in front of the camera. Two: when I have it on multi shot, I’m only getting one photo not two. Three: I get notifications saying there’s x amount of photos but they’re isn’t as many as it says. Yes, I have a decent signal. Yes, my batteries are good. I wonder if it’s the new app or if my cameras are failing..Version: 3.0.15

Tech supportUsed to be great support when you dealt with people in Quebec now like most company’s the support has moved off shore where you can’t understand the tech support when speaking and they always try to get you to do the down loads to fix any problems, own multiple cameras from spy point but will not be buying any more if this is how the company is moving forward.Version: 4.9.0

Have to close app to get new picsAs I stated in the title, you have to manually close the app and open it again to get new photos. To do this, swipe up and hold and then swipe away the app. Others have stated that you have to delete the app and reinstall to get new photos. That is not the case..Version: 4.1.0

Alert tones for appApp works well for me, but it would be very handy to have customizable alert tones, as I use a couple of my cameras for security, and I would like to set a louder tone so it will wake me when I’m sleeping, or loud enough to alert me when I’m a distance away from my phone. Other than that, the app works well for me..Version: 3.8.0

App functionI wish the app screen would change orientation when I turn my device. If spypoint would address this I would give it 5 stars.Version: 3.6.2

Awesome toolWe as hunters need as much help as we can get when it comes to finding and tracking animals . This game cam makes things allot easier so I can monitor the bush without being there to pull SD cards to see if there was movement or not . I will be buying more.Version: 3.6.2

Join the club or uselessSpypoint has it set up that requires you to join the club or the camera is pretty well useless..Version: 3.6.2

Not alway sending pictures to my phoneIi.Version: 3.6.2

ProblemI updated my app and lost all my cameras how do I fix this.Version: 3.6.0

Worked great untill it didn’tI have been using these all through hunting season and they have worked great, however when a new app update came along my cameras were not able to upgrade the plans from the app and browser, I’m using these for predator control and need more than 100 photos however my plan cannot be upgraded.Version: 3.6.1
