Fitmeter Bike - GPS Cycling App Comments & Reviews

Fitmeter Bike - GPS Cycling Positive Reviews

Great app for beginner/ returnerI purchased the app last summer after pulling my schwinn Le Tour out of mothballs during the pandemic. I didn’t want to invest a lot in a bike computer in case my reemergence into cycling didn’t take. I still wanted an idea of how far, fast and consistent I was going. This works quite well for that. It works good via GPS. I later purchased Wahoo sensors to get rpm and hopefully better speed data. I imagine Uber / expert cyclists may want more, but there are more expensive “toys” out there for that. My only real criticism is that after you hit “Stop” it asks you if you are really wanting to finish, which is good, but the spot you touch is hard to read and small to aim at , especially with polarized sunglasses on. Maybe they could stack those two options vertically and make them a little bigger. Those like myself who are a little lacking in fine eye hand coordination would likely appreciate..Version: 3.21

Great app (only UI is a bit dated)The UI / Design of the app looks pretty dated to me. I prefer design wise the more modern and light look. Nevertheless I can see me preferring this app over others because of: (a) just a simple one time payment [which is very affordable and could be easily 3x to 4x the amount imo] and no stupid monthly/yearly subscription (b) no stupid forcing to create an account required (c) just the right amount of functionality I need from such an app and no fancy and distracting stuff like a “community” (d) the app gets constantly updates seems far from being abandoned - overall I’m very happy with it and maybe my only gripe (the heavy and dated look) will get a refresher someday. Thanks 🙏 to the developer for this app!.Version: 5.11

Great app compared to othersI just started using this app. Has all my info at my fingertips. Paid for the app out the gate since I read other reviews. A few Questions and or suggestions 1. Can you hide the map feature? Most riding is around the neighborhood and I don’t need to see it all the time 2. I like the auto pause feature but I didn’t see anything to auto resume. Am I kissing something? 3. Voice/ sound prints should be made in incremental choices by the user. 1 mile; 2 miles or 5 miles. Depending on how long you’re riding you might want to change these settings. Thank you. I think it’s a great app so far. Good work!.Version: 4.1

I like itSeems to work. Easy to use. Easy to learn. I have been using it for over a year now. The pages of information are excellent. I don't use cadence or hart rate. On a 30 mile ride it tracks within 0.3 miles compared to my wheel magnet speed and distance meter . I live on a boat on the ocean, I start the program when I get to the dock, I stop it when I get back to the dock and sometimes the altitude will be off 70 feet or so, that has nothing to do with the app. That is all about the errors in the GPS receiver in your phone. I have discovered that it needs to be up on the screen when you shut off your phone or it does not continue tracking. When I go to my shopping list or google maps I need to remember to bring it back up on the main screen before turning off the phone. It does not seem to use much power as compared to google maps running with the phone off. Auto pause works fine. I run it in a iPhone 6s..Version: 3.11

Jury still outI just downloaded the app and went for a 20 mile ride. I like the screen layout and the data that is recorded. I have 3 observations that drop my rating from a 5 to a 3: 1. I am not sure the GPS speed was accurate. I have been riding for 30 plus years and I know what 10, 15, 17, 18, 20, etc mph feels like and it felt to me that the speed calculation in real time was reading several mph low. 2. There is an option to connect your Apple Watch to record pulse data but my watch does not show up in the app and there are no options to search for it. As a result no pulse info was recorded despite the fact that I was wearing the watch the whole time. I looked for answers on line with no luck. This led me to my third observation 3. the app developers are from Germany so most of the posts when you look for answers are in German (which is fine if you understand German, but for me my junior high German brain cells have long since been repurposed LOL) If someone can tell me how to connect my watch to this app I could give it 4 stars. (The speed accuracy keeps it from getting 5 stars but I suspect that is an issue with all of these GPS based phone apps anyway).Version: 3.6

Love this app!!This is a perfect app. Shows the data I want to see while riding (mph, map, avg speed and a few more) and arranged perfect on the screen. Then when the ride is over you can see a graph of your ride’s elevation and speed. It keeps an awesome history of the rides. I don’t typically buy apps, I always use free apps, but this one was so perfect during the free trial that I broke down and bought it and I have never regretted that decision! I have even told friends and family how great it is and they should buy it. Best app I ever bought..Version: 4.2

We’ll seeI expected the paid version of this app to start off from the free version, but it didn’t, and I lost one trip. Further, on my second trip it didn’t start either and when I came back there was a notice do I want to allow it to access GPS so I’m trying it again and hopefully it will work this third time I’ve already lost two rides..Version: 3.7

Better sharing optionsThe app has been good so far. Overall, I believe the incremental improvements have been good so far. The draw backs I have are the ability to share individual map’s of sessions and connecting with others. I don’t want to share my entire history each time. I also would like to see what my partner is doing or maybe where they are on the trail. Bikes are hard to find now. They are flying off the shelves. I have shared this app with at least three others because we ride together. These apps are becoming more and more popular. This is a great time to seize the moment. Keep up the great work..Version: 3.7

Nice app could be tweakedNice app for tracking, however the heart monitor does not sync up to my apple watch 3. It seams the heart monitor only records if I start the app from the watch and not the iphone. I would like to see one app for different tracking rather then using one for biking one for running/walking. Right now I use the pay version of fitmeter bike, fitmeter running, a walking app, swim app and finally a kayak app. There are a few apps out there that will do it all in one app however the detail in fitmeter is the best. Which you could develop a all in one app..Version: 3.6

It’s good for the most partI like this app, I like most of the features that are important for me, one feature that is a plus to me, it stays on my screen, the app does not sleep, when I look down to my phone I can see every thing. That’s a big deal and it’s safer. The only small thing that I don’t like is I can’t upload to another app that I use. For the most part this is a good app for me. Would I recommend, sure I would..Version: 4.9

Great app that put a smile on my face!I was searching for an app exactly like this one. I purchased it and am very happy. Today I was riding my bicycle somewhat slow, enjoying the views not rushing anywhere. In history it put a little snail in front of todays date, I guess its because I was slower then other days :D. It made me smile, just what I needed :D! The app is great!.Version: 3.20

Love love LOVE this app!!!This app gives me everything I want and more!! I can use GPS or my cycle computer sensor info for speed, distance, cadence, averages, duration and other info. I can also get heart rate readings from my apple watch! I also have a continuous READABLE GPS! AND I CAN SAVE ROUTES FROM PREVIOUS RIDES SO I HAVE THEM FOR FUTURE REFERENCE! The paths I’ve ridden before show up with color so I don’t have to try to follow road signs. And…. This app is FREE FREE FREE!!!! The only thing I would improve is the accuracy of the cadence/distance which is based on tire circumference. I can’t seem to get that to cooncide with my cycle computer which is tire size measured. Hands down the best cycling app!!!!!!.Version: 5.3

Well designed & supported plus real data privacy!Clean, clear interface and dashboard display, good support for BT speed/cadence/heart rate sensors for indoor and outdoor training. Better yet - and a big reason why I chose it - it offers real, unambiguous data privacy (I actually read privacy policies). Your data is your own and stays that way..Version: 2.12

Great but low visibility of some screensNice app, however some screens are hard to read (especially on sunny settings), e.g. the graphs have a thin red line on a grey/black background - extreme low contrast between red and dark grey. In some screens the “back” button (<) is hard to see and has minimum width - should be more clear and wider. Please option to not show mile markers?.Version: 4.11

Love it!!!This is a great app, EXCEPT when it crashes in the middle of a ride and loses all the info. A couple updates back it started and seems to happen about one in ten rides. Very frustrating if the objective is to kee track of cumulative miles. I am on an iPhone 6. This is happening almost half the time..Version: 3.10

Worked like a champ until -I used this app everyday and clocked all my rides. I loved it. But after a year it started to have issues as I couldn’t check my records and it would for no apparent reason just stop working. I don’t know it is good for only a period of time or I just wore it out. I may try it again as I really liked it but I don’t know if I’ll have a lot of trust in it..Version: 3.20

Good simple appData stored local, no ads or junk. Just works. Don’t kill the app while running otherwise your session is gone. I’d like to see a way to add bikes in a list so when I start a session, I can pick the bike I rode. Or maybe at the end I get a list..Version: 4.11

Use it all the time - history could be betterI’m a paid user and use this app every time I go for a ride. It’s a great way to track my workouts. The history tab, though, could be a lot better. First, stop highlighting the top item in the list. It serves no purpose and just makes it difficult to read the details. Second, add more details to the history list so I don’t have to open a record to see basic information. Ideally there would be a preference to select two or three data points but (at a minimum) it should show duration and miles by default. Keep up the good work..Version: 4.2

Max speed makes me a supermanGreat app for tracking my ride. I have the paid version and it works great on my iPhone XS. However, there's no way I'm going almost 40 mph as a top speed. I don't ride steep hills so I know it's not that. Needs some improvement there. Seems like maybe it is adding averages over auto pause sections? I'd give it 5 stars but for the max speed issue..Version: 3.12

Auto Pause does not workStarted out with Fitmeter Bike Basic & liked it. So I upgraded to the paid version & found that auto pause does not work. It did work with the basic version..Version: 5.4

My favorite biking app!I love using this app every time I’m biking. It’s perfect for tracking your route, speed and more. Thank you to the developer for fixing the Facebook posting feature which makes it perfect!.Version: 5.3

Easily top of the list.I’ve been through approximately 50 bike apps in 10 years. Easiest to read, best stat display, nice rabbit/snail feature, best graphing without being confusing, no pesky delay for gps., averages are on ride display, and there’s more. Thank you guys for a sweet lil computer..Version: 3.0

Awesome app!I love, love, love This app! I’ve been using it since 2020. It is very useful when riding. The only thing missing (for me) is the ability to have different bike profiles. That, would make it GREAT! I use different bikes and it would be awesome if I could create different profiles for each bike..Version: 5.10

5 Stars butWow ! I like it but this app really drains my iPhone 11. I have to go out with 95% + power, Or my 1:45:00 ride w/Pandora will about drain the battery to almost zero (with no other apps open).Version: 4.9

Good App, poor data transferOverall a good user friendly and intuitive app; however, very frustrating with the poor data transfer options when upgrading phones. Had to reload dozens of individual cycle sessions on new phone - because of this, looked at alternative app options..Version: 3.12

So easy to use!I live this app because it’s just so easy to use. I paid the extra couple of dollars to keep all data a year ago. No bugs. Works perfect for keeping track of my cycle rides..Version: 3.12

Darn GoodI’m older (70) and just want basics: time, distance, speed and avg speed. Liked free version which only records ten rides at a time. With $5 upgrade got unlimited records plus much more. Glad I found it..Version: 3.17

Free version works great, paid one doesn’t.Like other reviewers, I used the free version and liked it so u bought the paid version. It does not record routes (and yes, I lost all my history when I upgraded). Argh!.Version: 3.10

Doesn’t trackAre use the free app and it worked great. The free app stopped saving the history so I got the full app for $5.00. That doesn’t work at all. Sorry I paid for it. It’s not tracking me. It doesn’t record miles or speed..Version: 3.9

Full versiónHi I have being using the basic version for a wile. Today I go for the full version, I paid 5.99 it said that it was downloded but the app dos get the update. Still said basic version and asking to get the full version. But in App Store apear that I have it. Why it didn’t get the update?.Version: 3.20

Great app…I have a questionI’m enjoying Fitmeter Bike a lot. Though I haven’t found a way to delete a session that was inadvertently created. Is it possible to delete a session?.Version: 5.3

Paid version not defaultI upgraded to the paid version. Every time I open app it reverts back to the free. How do I fix this? Otherwise I like the app..Version: 3.20

Won’t find my Fitbit for heart rateJust keeps scanning for a Bluetooth device. I don’t know if it is this app, I have the paid-for version, or the Fitbit charge 4. Otherwise, the app works fine. It will lose its GPS signal while riding and cause a big max speed spike in its data collection, but that is trivial to me. I use an iPhone 11..Version: 3.14

Fitmeter BikeGood app for Data. 1 problem is I upgraded from the free version and lost my history. I’d love to recover those records. Edit. This problem resolved today. I’m very happy with this APP.Version: 3.9

No ability to import historyThis a good app but when you upgrade from basic you leave you’re data behind unless your willing to manually import it. That separates it in my from being great. Other developers have have done it, why not here?.Version: 3.10

Easy to UseVery convenient; easy to use. I especially love the alert it gives at each mile..Version: 3.12

Very niceVery nice application. My suggestion: informations in the indoor mode could use all the screen, instead of just hide the map..Version: 4.9

Excellent appThis app give accurate and much needed stats. I can compare my rides to previous rides, and measure my progress, which motivates me..Version: 3.10

Incredible app.Good stuff all around. I no longer use a bike computer. I only use this app..Version: 4.9

Just the basicsIt does what I need. I was hoping that it would connect to my Fitbit to get my pulse but it doesn’t. It doesn’t run my music. But it does a good job with tracking my rides and the graphs are pretty. Music would get the fourth star and Fitbit would be the fifth..Version: 3.10

Great appFitmeter has all that I was looking for in a GPS cycling app. Wish I had found this before I paid for others with less information….Version: 4.10

Love itHad for a few weeks now. Works “flawlessly” - iPhone XR - although on one session it recorded a max speed of 72kph!!!. (Pretty good for a maturing recreational cyclist).Version: 3.22

Love the App!Looks like the issues I had with it last year are fixed. Tracks accurately and the auto pause is great! I had to stop today when my chain came off and the auto pause adjusted correctly. I upgraded to the full version and am looking forward to the statistics now as well..Version: 3.21

MehWorked great the first few times. Keeps adding 40 lbs to my weight, and last time it failed to track speed. Stay with the free one. Not worth the upgrade..Version: 3.20

LOVE IT!!!Easy to install, great selection of data and very accurate. The only thing I’d like to see is the ability to change the screen display to allow for more screen space dedicated to the data and less for the map. This would allow for larger font on the numeric data for those of us with old eyes!.Version: 3.10
