YaoYao is a standalone Apple Watch app to track your jump rope workouts.

YaoYao is featured by the App Store and Apple Newsroom.

Jump rope is a simple, effective, and an economical aerobic workout. You can choose to jump rope anytime, anywhere.

Currently, Apple Watch allows you to track multiple workouts including running or cycling, and swimming, but not jump rope.

Often, counting your jumps during your jump rope workout is essential and is an important aspect. YaoYao utilizes Apple Watch’s motion sensors to calculate your jumps. YaoYao literally costs you no more than an ordinary jump rope.

YaoYao - Jump Rope App Comments & Reviews

YaoYao - Jump Rope Positive Reviews

Beats any other jumprope app by farI tried a few other highly rated rep counter apps and jump rope apps and they were extremely inaccurate, or just didn’t provide much of the information I wanted. I held back initially on getting this YaoYao app simply because it wasn’t free, but finally took a risk and got it. Immediately I noticed when I started my jump rope workout that the counts were very close to the actual jumps, and I LOVED how I could get loud verbal announcements for every 50 jumps or heart rate - with many options I could set. Finally, I could jump without thinking about counting, or using some method of keeping track physically. Then I was thrilled after a few more jumprope workouts to discover so many other useful, thoughtful and professional features, this is on the level of the type of features the Apple Activity App in quality and range of measured, counted and integrated metrics. The graphs and the badges you can earn, it all adds so much more to the jump rope workout, I love it!!.Version: 2.1.9

Great App!!I’ve been speed roping for 2 years now and have always used a different HIIT app on my watch to do my intervals. I’ve always wanted to know the number of jumps but never thought to look for an app that counted them! I was skeptical at first based on others reviews of counting too many or not enough but wanted to try it since it was so inexpensive. I used it yesterday and counted as I jumped and it was only off by 2... and that was me trying my hardest to count my jumps since I speed Rope I had a hard time counting as fast as I jumped. I feel it’s extremely accurate... it’s basically like a pedometer... they are never exact, but give you a great estimate and that’s all I’m looking for. I love that it gives you the count every 100 jumps and heart rate, I was able to push myself harder and in one interval session went from a little over 700 jumps to almost 900. Overall I love it and definitely recommend it!!!!.Version: 1.9.4

Game changer!I adore this app. Barriers on my jump rope journey were counting jumps and time jumped excluding rests. This app removed those and delivered so much more! I’ve been quite the evangelist for the app and have engaged my IG community as inquiries come to me about the app I use for tracking. One addition I’d love to see is tracking of the interval times. Perhaps an axis on the right of the bar graph that charts jump count intervals? For now, I estimate based on my average jump count per min how long I’ve jumped between rests. Anyway, all of this to say, bravo! This app has changed the game and my workout life (which was non-existent before...ha!)!.Version: 2.3.5

Cool in conceptCool concept, but having issues with the app recording data. In short, it doesn’t. Ha. It will record and display results during a workout, but the data does not get saved for future reference, as per the screen shots above. Jump count, calories, workouts, etc. Nothing is saving in the app. It does, however, sync generic Yao Yao “workout” instances and times with the iOS Activity app. So I’ve just been using it for that purpose to be able to identify separate jump rope workouts and times in the Activity app. Unfortunately, I’m not able to enjoy the native tracking, medals, gamification, etc. within the native app. Oh well. On an iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 1, iOS 11.2.2, and app version 1.5.6. I’ve enabled all data sharing permissions within the Health app. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. No luck..Version: 1.5.6

Just what I neededLoving the app so far after a month. Using my Apple Watch to count jumps and seems as accurate counting as I would be myself (just 1 or 2 difference here and there). Really like the history view by day to get totals, not sure what leveling up does but it’s cute and motivating, custom daily goal is nice. Overall has a lot more than I expected - I really just needed an accurate jump counter. Plus the silly reindeer mascot is fun, and you can share workout summary graphics in messages or social media..Version: 2.5.1

Best Jump Rope AppI only use this app for jumping rope. I even prefer it over my Apple Watch’s jump rope. I have used several others apps but this one is the best. My only wish is for you to add steps or distance along with the calories, time speed etc. The count is very accurate. I was tired during my jumping today so I tried to cheat by walking and it paused the count. I’m glad I couldn’t cheat. It’s a great app and I have no complaints or “cons”. Thank you for inventing this app..Version: 3.9.5

Just amazingI was planning to buy a 100$ jump rope which counts skips as i always do 5k skips a day. So after a month was considering this when i came across this app after installing 5 apps of the same. Glad i paid about 2$ for this as it is totally worth it. When using, i counted manually for 2 days to compare this and it is 100% accurate. Shows number of calories burned, daily workouts, other participants over the world, heart beat etc. All in all 100% for this. Love it.Version: 2.2.3

Why did it take so long to make this? This app is exactly what I wanted for a jump rope app. It’s not complex, but it doesn’t need to be. It uses the accelerometer in the Apple watch to count your jumps. It also has timer mode and freestyle. I’m not an app designer, because I don’t know enough about programming; however, I’m a little surprised someone didn’t come up with this sooner. I think it costs something, but if you incorporate a rope into your workouts very often, it’s with it..Version: 1.9.0

If you love to jump ❤️ look no moreRecently downloaded this app and used it for the first time, I synced it with my series 3 Cellular Apple Watch... No disappointments at all, totally worth the money!!! It really keeps track of the work out this is the first time I can actually track my jump rope routine. If you’re in doubt, download this you won’t be disappointed. Lastly they list the numbers you really want to see like longest streak, heart rate, total jumps and how long you jumped for 😍😍 I love this app!.Version: 1.5.8

Worth every pennyI just started jumping rope this month and I was getting a little bored because I wasn’t sure how much I was actually jumping. I bought this app and it was totally worth it. I have a set timed work out but I love setting a jump goal so if I don’t meet them I can compensate. The best is when I finish my workout and I go over my goal! It’s just nice seeing your workout stats. It’s really encouraging..Version: 2.3.5

Love it! But....So I got this app because I wanted to track my progress with jumping rope. I love the interface and it’s cute mascot BUT my only gripe is that I can’t edit the number of jumps. I have a jump rope that counts my jumps that I use in tandem with this app and the rope counts by rotation. Unfortunately, by the end of my work out the number of jumps on the app is far behind the number on the rope. In short, I like this app but I just wish I could edit my number so that it could be more accurate..Version: 2.5.9

User since it first came outI have been jumping rope for years and boxed for a bit. I bought this app when it came out years ago. It was the first of its kind to track and available on the Apple Watch. Years later it keeps getting refined and I love how it relays data with Activity and Heart apps in the iPhone. Great job. Worth it..Version: 3.9.0

The best app out thereThis is the best app with beautiful and simple design and functionality. Jump rope counter has a minor variance counting slightly higher than actual jumps but this is within acceptable limits. It is cost effective and works compared to those charging a huge subscription with a poor workout library and poor counter..Version: 2.5.0

The only legit jump rope appThere are certain things a jump rope app MUST have (such as Apple watch functionality, rep counter, various jump settings). This app has them all. I was skeptical about purchasing this app, normally I like trying an app before purchasing. In this case, I'm really glad I took the leap of faith. One small step for me, one giant leap for jumpers everywhere..Version: 2.1.2

Misses a lot of countsIt’s close but I have seen it miss a lot of counts as well. I will keep going until I reach the count on the app anyways because it doesn’t hurt to keep going. Frustrating though when I want to be done and this is not catching my counts..Version: 2.5.2

Great way to track your jumping progressI like this app a lot! It’s great to track my jump roping progress and I’m able to just zone out and jump the way that I like to. If jump roping is your way to replace running, this app is superb!.Version: 2.6.2

Great appGreat app and easy to use. I would love it if it had more rewards in small increments. Like every 10k or so. I find it more motivating when I achieve a sticker more often. I know it sounds dumb but it’s fun for me. Still love..Version: 3.3.4

The only perfect jump rope app…The only app that... 1) does all the basics right and simple 2) reads and writes to Apple Health 3) (most important) is easy to use as a Watch app, including control via Siri. NO need to put phone in pocket! Skipping rope is an excellent next-level workout beyond brisk-walking. I don't need tons of fancy techniques, just want jump count, calories, etc - and for it to be reported with other workouts. PS When ready, I suggest moving up to a weighted rope (burns more cal's and strengthens arms). YaoYao detects and reports this in the form of increased HR and cal's..Version: 1.8.3

There is a bug about voice tipI feel this app is really convenient when it functions. I really enjoy knowing how many jumps i have achieved. However, the voice tip usually being replaced by a vibration after i change different mode like hiit. I am wondering can i keep that voice tip with real human voice rather than vibration all the time? Thanks.Version: 1.7.2

Highly recommend!!Yaoyao is the best rope jumping app I have ever tried. It can record your jump counts accurately, and shows the max speed, max combo jump counts, etc. Moreover it can speak out the heart rates every 100 jumps. This app is desired the price!!! hope jumpers will enjoy this app..Version: 1.9.4

Good at firstIt was accurate the first few days, but now it is showing about twice the amount of calories per workout with a similar amount of jumps. I hope this gets fixed soon. Otherwise it is accurate, especially in regards to number of jumps. I also appreciate the full integration with the health app.Version: 2.1.4

Almost accurate :)I was looking for a jump rope counter and this was the only one i could find utilizing Apple watch. I jumped 100 times and the counter on my watch showed 98. I’m quite happy about 98% accuracy. Well done!.Version: 2.5.1

Takes workouts to the next levelGame-ifying skipping rope like this is absolutely brilliant. I am now determined to keep leveling up. Accurate, interactive and keeps information accessible. Perfect for COVID-19 workouts..Version: 2.1.2

Works Great! Thanks for making a great app! The counting is accurate, it helps me track my progress, there’s leaderboards, achievements, tracks jumps and heart rate. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and highly recommend!.Version: 2.5.6

So cool!!!There’s so many workout tracker apps but hardly anything for jump rope... if you are into jumping rope, this app is rad! Not only does it track your workouts but it’s also integrated with the apple fitness app..Version: 2.5.0

It just worksThis is so simple and usable. Start it on my watch and just go. Can do total jump goal or time goal. I find the counter to be right on par and it’s cool to see the charts showing speed and heart rate..Version: 1.6.3

Decent app for the moneyWorks fine for the most part, though the skip count is off by a little. That’s not a big deal imo. I’d like some analytics around actual jump time, rather than total session time. Max JPM, average JPM by jump time would be helpful..Version: 2.2.0

Great app!Makes jumping rope way more enjoyable. The app starts automatically when you start jumping and it pauses when you rest. The number of jumps is accurate and it notifies every 100 jumps. I recommend it..Version: 1.6.6

So worth the buyThis app is amazing! It connects to workouts via the apple watch. So i can just set my HITT settings and start jumping. A must have if you want to track your jump rope workouts in detail!.Version: 2.5.0

Help!My app is no longer connecting to my watch. Somehow it was disconnected from my watch, and now when I go to reinstall the the app to my watch from my phone it will not install. Please help. This is one of my favorite workout apps..Version: 2.6.1

Great!I love jumping. And this app is one of a kind! It’s really useful. Plus, full health app integration! However, id like to share a curious bug. I had to reinstall the app since the watch app wasn’t logging anything!.Version: 1.6.3

Stopped Working! Help!!I love this app and use it most days. However, it recently stopped displaying my jump progress on the iPhone screen. That is a very helpful feature and it’s no longer working. Can you help?.Version: 1.7.4

Absolute BestThis is the best jumprope app ever! I have so many options like interval training and jump counts and it’s accurate! Highly recommended!.Version: 2.7.7

Great appSeems reasonably accurate to me, I really enjoy setting the number of jumps before each workout and trying to accomplish that goal. Great motivational tool.... For me anyway..Version: 1.5.4

3+ Years Jumping with YAOYAO Every Day!!Been averaging 6.5 days a week jumping rope since May 2009. YAOYAO has been an incredible enhancement to my work out ethic. I’m a fan for life!!.Version: 2.7.9

ExcellentI really enjoy this app and it seem very accurate for what I use it for.Version: 3.4.1

Overall good.Best app in my opinion out the for jumping rope. Like the accuracy of counting jumps. Only problem so far has been the heart rate monitor during jumps is not good..Version: 3.5.2

Best Jumprope app trackerTracks to exact # best app to keep track of progress leaderboards is another plus to keep you motivated.Version: 2.9.2

NiceFinally found a jump rope count app that is accurate. It’s fun, it has me trying harder. I like the leader board. My goal is to place in top 100..Version: 2.3.5

Exactly What I Was Looking ForAccurate jump counter based solely on Apple Watch. App integrates into My Health and Activity App seamlessly. Great product..Version: 2.2.3

Inaccurate.Wrist has to move in a certain way in order for the app to count..Version: 3.0.2

Amazing AppThank you for this amazing app , it encourages me keep going and exercise every day.❤️.Version: 2.7.4

Awesome appI love this app. Great motivator. Keeps track of my best. Accurate counts using my iPods. I really love that I can use whatever ropes I want and I’m not tied to one brand. No monthly fees for stuff that I don’t use. This is exactly what I was looking for..Version: 3.7.2

Great AppStopped jump roping 2 years ago when covid hit. Just starting again. This app has out done itself since I purchased it many years ago. So many new features. Keep up the great work. Worth the money..Version: 3.3.3

ExcellentFantastic app, it is worth every cent!.Version: 2.6.6

Super app for old men like meCool app, but it crashes every time when I pause the workout for a break. Not super accurate but it’s much better than the default apple Workout app..Version: 3.1.0

Worth the $4I don’t normally purchase apps, but I jump rope on a daily basis for fitness. Decided to give this a shot because of the stellar reviews. Best purchase that I’ve made in the App Store. If you’re serious about jump rope and tracking your hops, this is the one for you..Version: 2.5.0

Great appReally awesome app and worth every penny. One thing though, I think the calorie calculation is flawed. If I do 1000 jumps in under 11 minutes the app says I burned 140kcal, even though I am catching breath and sweating like I just had a shower. But if I do 1000 in 16 minutes, which is a slow and relaxed pace even for me, the app says I burned whooping 200kcal..Version: 2.3.2

Awesome appThis app is awesome if you love skipping. The developer seems very passionate about it as from the update logs they are continually updating it and making it better. Wish more developers could be this great! Keep up the great work!.Version: 2.2.1

Awesome! This is a great app for skipping . The developer has done a great job . Thank you.Version: 1.7.2

I love this app!!It does what it says very accurately! Thanks for making this app!!.Version: 1.7.2
