SpaceWeatherLive App Comments & Reviews

SpaceWeatherLive Positive Reviews

Great app, room to growI wanted to give some feedback. I am a drone operator, and many SW factors impact the safety of my flight, but the notifications are generally useless as is. Can we have more control over push notifications? I’d like to turn off all high latitude KP alerts, and be able to toggle on mid latitude alerts. It would also be nice to be able to set a threshold for the push notification.. ex: KP4 or G1 or greater. The notifications only provide value when they apply to my use case and location. It would also be good to see a latency indicator. Are the app values up to date? If they aren’t, how do I know? Otherwise, great app! Edit: developer responded to this in a couple days. Hope to see suggestions integrated in the future!.Version: 1.3.0

Great app. Replaces all previous competitorsI am a solar physicist by training and had been using a different app to stay up to date, but that app was not maintained and was expensive. This app has everything that I had hoped would be included, making it by far my top choice for looks at the Solar-Terrestrial interface, solar activity. Because it has so much, organizing it surely presented a challenge to the authors. Occasionally I’ll think, “I wish they had included __________” only to find that if I hit the right tab, the data I wanted is there! When new to the app, be sure to look around every corner. It includes data from SDO and STEREO, plus all of the usual solar-terrestrial indexes, images of the auroral zone etc. Nice job!.Version: 1.3.0

Everything I need, and moreThis app has all the features & data I wanted in a beautiful UI— even the free version. Kudos to the devs! The only thing I could ask for is ability to set user defined thresholds for the notifications. I’m not worried about turning off the power or sticking my phone in a faraday cage for anything lower than X class flares & CMEs, specifically >X10.0. It would be wonderful to have the ability to define the class & number threshold to reduce the number of notifications, especially during this peaking solar cycle..Version: 1.6.2

Pragmatic PrognosticationsCertainly, I am not a professional in this area! I enjoy it to learn. Sometimes I share things with my students. I am most interested in how these solar emissions may effect things on Earth. Please give us some translations on the baselines and the effects that actually impact grids and things on Earth, and where. How much Solar radiation reaches humans? What are some of the effects that are caused if humans are getting varying electrical impulses or waves of energy? Is there any real probability of sun storm ejections interference with the electronics and electrical systems on earth?.Version: 1.5.1

All this for free?! Best Space Weather app. This informative & up-to-date app is full of reference materials, tutorials, & real time news. I’ve compared the functionality & usability with several other paid apps, and this one is hands down the best. Everyone can access this info online, but the helpful blue ℹ️ tutorial buttons throughout the app shortened my learning curve significantly. I think this app is great for teachers, students, and anyone wanting to better understand and interpret space weather data..Version: 1.6.2

LOVE this app!I’m very new to tracking space weather (aurora chasing) but this app makes it easy to do. Everything is organized and easy to understand. And if you don’t understand something, the answer’s not far - just touch the little blue question mark and voila! It’s right there. My favorite part - the notifications. Now, you don’t know me, but if you did, you would know that I hate notifications. HATE them. They interrupt incessantly at the worst possible times and never for something important. But just now, I felt a genuine jolt of elation upon being notified that an X flare just happened. (!!!) Actual, true elation. Hence, my review. Well done, Space Weather team! Thanks for putting everything in one place and making it easily navigable so newbies like me can find the elusive aurora. And learn to our heart’s content along the way. I highly recommend!.Version: 1.6.1

Excellent App. Lots of detail and contextThe app is excellent, but what I found most satisfying is the ability to get context information on what ever you might be looking at (graphs, gauges, readouts, etc). They’ve cleverly placed little information “circle-i’s” on pretty much any piece of data or observation you come across, they all seem to work well (not broken) and all give a decent amount of detail on what you’re looking at.Version: 1.6.1

Fantastic App!This is one fantastic app! I paid for a “pro” version of another aurora app when I was just starting to interpret the data. When I stumbled onto this app, I found how vastly superior the data set being presented here. I got rid of the “pro” aurora app and kept this. I just have one request—if I can pay for a “pro” version to get rid of the ad, it would be great!.Version: 1.6.2

Finally - a space weather app that does more than AurorasI'm far more interested in Solar weather - Solar Flares, CME's, sunspots, coronal holes, solar wind, and so on. I'm so glad to have finally found an app doesnt concentrate solely on auroras and calling themselves "space weather." Minus one star for UserID tracking. I'm sick of being monitored and monetized if I've already paid for service..Version: 1.5.1

All the data and functionality I need!Finding a good a Spaceweather app has been almost as difficult as waiting for a G4 storm to hit on a night without rain, clouds or moonlight. Other SW apps seem to be thrown together by developers with no interest or knowledge of space weather at all. SpaceWeatherLive functions as if its developer is an actual astronomer! Imagine that! Thank you and great work, Parsec VZW!.Version: 1.0.7

Background colorI noticed the background has been changed from white to gray. Why the change? Will be hard to see at night when you using most frequently..Version: 1.6.0

Nice app with a lot of info.Few things as I really haven't played with this much but so far I like it. Tons of information in here to digest. The dark theme I prefer due to eye strain but seems like screen writes get hosed up. Some elements towards the bottom of the home page either take a minute to write or don't write at all. Light theme works fine. Also in the dark theme some section definition like in the light theme should be encorporated (boarders). Question: does this alert based on my location and if so how does it know where I am as there wasn't any popup to allow location? I am on an iPhone 6s..Version: 1.0.8

DeborahI have had this app for several years. I always know when there has been a change in the electromagnetic field and then I get a notification. This is just evidence ❤️❤️❤️.Version: 1.8.0

More then I expected!!This app is everything you need! They keep info updated and flowing. Alerts, forecasts, images, graphs and even explanations of what your looking at. Great for someone wanting to learn about the sun or for those who need to follow its activity!! Amazing work!! Donation worthy!!.Version: 1.0.8

Thanks For The UpdateOn Apple devices. Seeing that there’s no light or dark mode availability via the settings gear on the app, your IT person made the adjustment according to the settings on the Apple devices. The appearance is great!.Version: 1.6.1

Great place to learn! There is so much information packed into this bad boy. Love learning about our Sun and you can find many rabbit holes to explore on this app. Also great for tracking our solar cycles. If you love science, you’ll love this app. THANK YOU DEVS!.Version: 1.5.1

AdsThe app is essentially the website reorganized to show the key data up front. The problem is that there is no paid ad-free option, and thus offers little benefits over bookmarking the site in a browser, especially with ad filters on..Version: 1.0.8

Solar QueenThis App is wonderful for checking in on our Solar Space Weather. A special Thank Q for this learning tool. I am a Space fanatic!!! And ever since I was a child I have followed the sun. Mithra I believe is the term. 💜.Version: 1.6.1

Love this app butI'm a dummy and get confused about what the current UTC is. It would be nice if the app showed the present UTC somewhere (to the second would be ideal but to the minute at the very least would be nice)..Version: 1.5.1

Alerts?Great app but lately all alerts reappear in count on app. Today there were 96. Alert count resets to zero until next alert notice.Version: 1.6.1

Video links brokenEach video link reports 404 URL warning.Version: 1.6.1

Great AppI’ve been using for months and it’s perfect until this!.Version: 1.0.9

Thank you for a great appI use it all the time Anyway you can add - Schumann Resonances please?.Version: 1.0.7

Update killed itWas fantastic and then I updated it. Now it will not load..Version: 1.4.0

Great app.Great for learning, easy to navigate, and simple explanations..Version: 1.6.0

IndicatorMy indicator is not working properly. How can I fix it?.Version: 1.5.0

(SDO)…!?Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) seem to be stuck on 28 December no more new image of the sun. Why?.Version: 1.6.1

Absolutely best, most detailed Space Weather app!Hello everyone. I normally never review Apps, however, this one is just so fantastic that I had to make an exception… This app is filled with so much detailed information that it would make your head explode, if there were not readily accessible, and easy to understand, help links on each, and every page that let you quickly and easily understand all of the data! Out of all of the Space Weather apps, I have tried (and I’ve tried everyone I could find on the App Store), this one gives you the most information. Rather than just relying on a simple number like the KP Index, it will educate you and show you how and why all of the other variables going on over our heads matter! It will teach you how to predict whether or not, you will see Aurora overhead for your particular location. Overall, best space weather app! Spend the extra cash and donate to get rid of ads, the amount of work they put into this app, they deserve something extra for their work!.Version: 1.6.1

Time zoneHow come i cannot put my time zone? Its always a day further than me.Version: 1.5.1
