A wok in progressA work in progress indeed. There’s no question this is a fine product/application but there is a pocket of confusion at the starting gate. I have just realized that in the upgrade from the Ver. 8 to 9, I have repeated reminders or choices, to choose one of the former version to migrate. That done, the old version ones still appear on the choice list at startup. Confused, I tried to merge all as I updated one and was not sure which of them as all have the same name. That couldn’t be done. That has been an enormous pain trying to rectify and eventually I have to find a way to stop go in remove all the backups from deep in. The library and replace it with the one that I had on my desktop. The producers must fix this and make it easier. My top ancestor cannot for some reason be integrated, is another anomaly, but one I still have to sort. It could be a preference setting..JapantherVersion: 9.0.3

After all, why not one made for Apple products!For over 20 years, I have been ancestor follower, family story collector and sharer. It wasn’t until finding Family Tree that I finally found a program I was confident in having a good relationship with, because I have preferred Apple since the first iMac I owned, 24 years ago. To have the program on iPad Pro and iPhone is the best. Not only will you have a more fluid and productive time, you have a more likely safe data security, and seamless connectivity only offered by Apple. Making an ancestry program for Apple OS makes Family Tree the only app I can suggest..HistylerVersion: 9.1.2

My favorite program just got worse!I have used MobileFamilyTree 7 & 8 and MACFamilyTree 7 & 8 versions now for about 12 years and l absolutely loved them. But this new 9.7 version of software is truly a disappointment. After placing over 3500 pictures into my database, they have destroyed all of my hard work by reducing the picture sizes down so small in the descendent, hourglass, circular, and ancestral charts, I can not even see them without a magnifying glass. This is especially true when you print them out. The design of the new round picture charts is very nice, but you have to adjust the size of each picture just so their foreheads and chins are not cut off by the size of the circle. It would be nice to be able to adjust the size of the circle to fit more of the pictures. I am staying with the older version of software because it respects all of the thousands of pictures I have added over the years. Poor Software QCFamilies transferred from previous software used did not all transfer. When starting a new family and you identify a female as a male and add husband’s last name and add child - child will get female last name. This is not easily corrected by just changing gender. (Will have to change all last names of children or best to delete all entries of family and start over. When typing a name system tries to auto correct by adding additional names to the one you are typing. Get rid of auto correct - system is not smart enough read your mind. STOP correcting names! Great workI always wanted to create our family tree and i am glad that i have this app it was painful in the beginning to navigate and get used to how to create the families and connect everybody to be in the rite place, but after you get used to it there is nothing easier. But unfortunately i did something which until now don’t know what. I used to get the age at marriage and at death. Now I don’t get that and i don’t know how to get it back. Excellent Private GenealogyThis is an excellent genealogy app for anyone that is digitizing old paper records and acquiring new information, photos, and anything else on the go. I’ve been documenting my family’s history with it for many years. In-LawsHi, this is great on my iPhone but I would like to make a suggestion regarding certain relationship. In the brother and sister-in-law area for the reports...it doesn’t show my spouses siblings spouse. So if you can change that it would be great. Limited Options For WorldbuildingThere’s a few cool features here, but it’s not very user-friendly for those of us who world build, which we all know.... family trees are a big deal in world-building and creative writing. Too many bugs and lost features - FIXED!Edit: Wonderful update! The problem with the Ahnentafel report has been fixed. I look forward to seeing the lost features returned in a future update. First off, I love this family tree program. Being able to have a fully functioning program for my phone and tablet is amazing and something I looked for a long time for. I started with version 8 and have used it extensively. I updated to version 9 because of the new features it offered like being able to fix the birth order of the children without a birth date. However... I have already found bugs and lost features that make me frustrated and will have me going back and forth between the two versions in order to have everything I want and need. A frustrating bug is in the Ahnentafel (descendant) report. While the settings are there to display up to 100 generations, it will only show up to 10. I use this programs with a family tree (fictional) that has more than 100 generations and I cannot view them in the Ahnentafel report because of the bug. A lost feature that I am disappointed in is in the lists, specifically the events and anniversary list. In version 8, the list would include any event that had at least a year. In version 9, it only includes events with full month, day, year dates. Even in my own family research I have a ton of dates with only years. Despite these problems, I still recommend this program and if the bugs are fixed and features returned, I will certainly give it five stars!.SBL1983Version: 9.0.2

Love it so far, I like being able to print out or make a file to send or put wherever I wantI’m going on a month now using this app and love it. I have tried, and still use many paid subscription apps such as ancestry, my heritage, family search. Also use many unpaid sites also. What I really love a lot this app, (and mind you, I bought it at the $14.99 price instead of full $29.99 price. It was their launch sale) is that if I want to make a pdf file to send to someone or just print out a family tree I can easily do that. My heritage and ancestry, I find it impossible to due pretty much from apps. With as much as I pay for them, ancestry $49.99/mo, my heritage $129.99/yr(got locked in during 50% off sale, normally $260/yr) I’d think you should be able to just push a button in app to be able to print out full Family Tree or parts and such. On those apps I do enjoy the ease of research of my ancestors all over the world. This app, I love how it gives you prompts and cross checks with family search(I use feee version on that app). I shied away getting this app at the usual $29.99 price, but figured I would chance it during launch sake at $14.99. I also like how it’s a one time fee, you are stuck into a subscription. I love the different charts and lists you can print out. I like how you don’t HAVE TO invite someone into your app just so they can see the tree you made of their branch as you do in ancestry and my heritage. I like that you can still invite people in...or you can just send them a report of which branch or person you are interested in. This app was pretty much what I was wanting. Something with that functionality, love the lists and reports. What I have issue with is that app can be confusing. I’ve been working on my family tree for over a yr now. Love that when you add parents that you can put biological or adopted and such. I do wish you can put a picture for their spot on tree. I do also find somethings confusing...like when I upload a copy of let’s say a marriage license, birth certificate, death certificate, etc...it seems it does get attached by goes to the main tree section of stuff uploaded. Same with regular pictures uploaded. When you have family trees in which some go back to 500’s and others you just want to add articles, other family trees, document reports...I think it kind of gets cluttered and confusing by all going to the main section if Family Tree for all branches. It could be that I’m just still learning and haven’t learned how to fully utilize all functions yet. Also I wish I knew how to delete a tree I made by mistake... for this reason I’m making it a 4* instead of 5*. I do love the app and love that someone made what I was wanting. Could be a little more user friendly though for newbies like me though. Some words that are used I have no clue...but again, I’m still learning and have had the app only a month... Fantastic Resource!This app combined with FamilySearch.org has been an amazing resource for developing and sharing my family tree. It gets a little laggy when animating the expanding of large generations in the “Interactive Tree” view, and it still lacks support for dark mode almost a year after iOS 13 came out, but aside from that it’s great! Great AppHave been having lots of fun using this. I like that you simply enter information and it sorts it all for you. Couple of questions. Is there a website where we can enter or view the information as well? Tough using an iPhone for this. I don’t have a Mac PC. What’s the site to view using chrome or IE? Not Recommended at allFamily Tree can NOT be printed & Titels of Nobility can not be entered CRASHES at Launch over and over again, often it does not even open the Family tree file. This was tested with their newest app version , the update Version 9, which I tested on 7 different iPhones and on 3 different iPad Pros. My advise, after using several versions in the last 3 Years is clear: “DO NOT” buy this Familytree app. If you are an owner of a version 8 iOS app already: Do NOT Upgrade to this version 9. Version 8 was already a nightmare. And this version 9.xx often does not even launch at all. It crashes half a second after attempting to launch the app. Once a version 8 tree is updated to this 9 version, it can not be viewed anymore in the older version 8 app anywhere. A Family-Tree can “NOT” be printed, which they advertise for. in addition those very complicated & non comprehensive graphs can never be printed in their entirety, but will have a lot of those painfully entered family members and their information missing in the Print-out. There are dozens of Buttons offering options, but these buttons are only fake buttons, they simply are not working at all. Those Graphs can only be printed partially, and never completely. They will never look like they look on the screen. In any case, no one needs such complicated Mathematical Diagrams and Graphs anyway, unless you are a scientist. A simple Family Tree is really needed, but can not be generated nor printed. Any aristocratic Titles cannot be used at all, and when I wrote to their support some 2 years ago, (they are a small company, 20 people, in Munich,Germany), they suggested to offer me to return my money spent, explaining to me that they have no interests and no time to give us such options in adding any kind of aristocratic Titles. It would not be a factor for users anyway, for most customer did never ask for such options. Every one in your family who also purchased the version 8 app in their past, is forced to upgrade for money to version 9 ,….. if they want to access their family tree again. Support: two dozen support attempts were simply ignored in the last 10 months now. No Support from them , no responses. Seems they are closing shop, and they have gone bankrupt. They also seemed to be able to delete my review here in the app store several times. It is very apparent that most 5 star reviews here are fake reviews. My Advice: Stay away and do not be fooled by the 5 star rating system here..AKOSPHOTOVersion: 9.0.11

Terrible interface, waste of $45Family tree detective work is hard enough. I’ve used software for years, all types and this one is the most convoluted I’ve ever used. It’s so easy to mess up entries and connections and so very hard to correct them. So many clicks just to add birth and death. The visual display during edit of individual is so vague, it’s hard to see who is parent, spouse,child. Adding parents don’t seem to connect the couple. I can say this a terrible program and not design for or by genealogy enthusiasts. The programmer is more interested in ethics or colour scheme not in efficiency and productivity.
