MiRack App Comments & Reviews

MiRack Positive Reviews

Modular Playground on IOS!MiRack is just a terrific modular experience on the IPad! For example, the Mutable Instruments clones sound fantastic and are simply a delight to mess around with. Modular synthesis can have a steep learning curve, but thanks to numerous VCV Rack tutorials on the internet you can get up to speed fairly quickly on how to make patches. I hope this app continues to receive support as it really sounds and feels like your working with real modular gear in ways other apps just can not match. Moog Model 15 is outstanding but it is not even a quarter as flexible in routing and sound design as MiRack. The control voltage routing options alone are almost limitless. Honestly, MiRack could easily be used to teach a full year course on electronic music if one desired to do so. It is that authentic and true to real modular hardware. Needs AU3 support, IAA or Audiobus like yesterday. Would love additional modules like Plateau (lush reverb) to be added. Even reasonably priced modules for purchase would be a fantastic way to always upgrade the app. As is, it is easily a 5 star app that can take you places only $10,000 worth of gear or more could take you previously. Kudos to the developers for bringing VCV Rack to IOS!.Version: 1.05

Not For Beginners!!! You are all on your own here!!I am sure that this is a GREAT app!!! I have worked with this thing for months and I have gotten next to nowhere! It has no presets! NO HELP!! NO WELCOME TO MODULAR SYNTH TUTORIAL!! It doesn’t walk you though what a CV is. How to route a ADSR. And when you click on the manual to try to understand how to hook something up, it’s going to tell you about VOLTAGE!!! DO NOT GET THIS UNLESS YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! I’ve watched videos, I’ve read articles and have failed with this app to achieve anything worth my investment in time. If you are a newbie, I suggest the Drambo or Model 15 apps. They include either a basic “welcome to modular synth” manual or teach you how to route things within the app. With all of that being said, I really can’t take more than one star from this app. It’s so flexible. It has so many modules. The possibilities truly seems endless and I an jealous of anyone who could use this to even half its potential! The developer(s) are constantly dropping new updates and I’m not talking about those crappy “stuff is gonna work better in the background” updates. I’m talking real updates that directly improves the user’s experience. Great job to all involved in this project. If you could please come up with something to teach a new person how to patch things or offer some getting started tips that would be more than amazing!!.Version: 3.68

Fleece my knees & grease my bees ...I found my stinging bees (vibrating at variable voltages) Sometimes you don’t realize what you are missing or that you’re missing anything at all until you go looking for the variable unknown. I’ve been involved in music making of all kinds for decades - from playing the drums, guitar, bass, and synths, in bands and in the studio to running live streams of mixes made on the fly in AUM to Mixlr that incorporate frequency filtering of found sound and reappropriating recorded political addresses with beats and effects - hammering the insanity we have in the top levels of government in the US ... but when I turned to this app I realized it was a supplement for my cptsd symptoms. It helps me relax when anxiety starts approaching the dangerous threshold. There’s something about loosely controlling the arbitrary nature of these devices, which if I had the cash I would surely be engaged in the real deal since the experience is just drastically different, but for a ten spot this is doing me just fine while giving me the knowledge of what I will need when I start buying individual modules for a real rack. Thanks to the devs for this ✪✪✪✪✪.Version: 3.54

Wonderful jobI love this app. I have a growing tabletop of hardware Modular synths that I spend most of my time on, as well as my laptop where I use various DAWs and VCV Rack. The reason I love this app is that I bring my iPad everywhere, and I can patch in all kinds of settings. The car while on a road trip, the train, waiting at the doctor’s office, in the park - wherever. There aren’t as many modules as VCV but there are more than enough (way more than enough) to make any sounds I can imagine. I’ve also never had any issues with crashes, glitches or any type of bug. It’s very solid. I’ve noticed a couple of nice improvements in the time I’ve used it, so I appreciate the developer staying on top of the software. It is well worth the small cost for the endless amount of joy it provides. Thank you from a happy person in Colorado..Version: 3.70

This is *SO* awesome!I love the UI. Everything feels so organized and not chaotic at all. The wires are perfectly made not to obstruct the view, so you can clearly see the labels and controls. There’s even an option to hide them, but they haven’t bothered me yet. I stumbled upon this app through YT about a month ago, and was a bit reluctant to buy it, because I already got couple of other “wired” modular synths, and they get zero usage. Well that is so not because they have a bad sound, it’s because I don’t like their UI. This miRack has a very pleasant UI. Easy to see everything on a 10.5” iPad, zoom in to get to actual knobs... just well designed with user in mind. You can use this as an instrument, play with any controller keyboard. Or you can put it into FX slot as IAA, to process the sound in many interesting ways... One huge request for the developers though: please make a polyphonic module, Playing like 8 note would be really cool for some patches. Oh and one more request, please make the patches manual-only save. We all love to experiment, and when you do that, it’s easy to get carried away and mess your good patch, or maybe come up with something completely new that’s also good. So pressing save/“save as” can be of great help! :).Version: 1.69

It can too do polyphonicThis thing is awesome. It is a clone of VCVrack which is a software version of eurorack modular hardware. Mirack does not have all the modules availble for VCV rack but it has a large number of them. More than enough to build crazy patches. It has many of my favorites. It's so much fun having this on the iPad. You could probably spend a lifetime using it. Don't listen to the guy who says it isn't polyphonic. A polyphonic synth can be built if that's your pleasure. Just gotta have the patience and the know how. At some point you'll max out the power of your iPad with this. If you ever used a synth and felt like I wish I had one more filter to run in parallel then this kit is your ticket. This app is completely worth the full asking price. Great value..Version: 3.54

Latest Update Restores FaithThe developer has added a lot of new features and modules so hopefully all of the startup challenges will be a thing of the past. Old Review: The VCV Rack developer was able to successfully pressure the miRack developer into removing all of the original basic/fundamental modules. This has broken every patch I’ve made. Right now they’re a bunch of yellow rectangles with cables attached without any text describing which module they were. Many of the modules do not have a description. Presumably if you’re already a VCV Rack user, these modules will already be familiar. I do not feel comfortable or optimistic about this app as the dispute with the VCV Rack developer means I do not feel ethical about using their website to find out how to use modules I don’t know how to use in miRack. The miRack developer doesn’t really have much of any support information on his website. At this point I’ll just wait to see if the miRack developer is able to provide better support for the app, otherwise I feel it’s not worth my time to learn more about it. Perhaps the VCV Rack developer might pressure Apple into crippling miRack even more?.Version: 1.60

MiRack is a great intro to modularIf you are interested in modular synthesis, miRack is an economical way to dive in and explore. You'll be able to work with an array of modules and get a good overview of what the modular world has to offer in general all before you decide to put in a hundred or multiple hundreds of gold bricks into a practical system. In miRack, you can probably find a virtual module very similar to what you want to buy in the real world, and figure it out, before you buy it. Or you may just get completely immersed in miRack and just go on creating patches in there, forevemore..Version: 3.69

Best $11 for monsters especially if they need modular anywhere!Probably the best modular synth on the App Store, it gives you VCV on the go with tons of options to build a monster. $11 might seem high but it gets you not only a portable rack but it’s also an audio unit and you can probably get more advantage from an M1/M2 device, like a desktop to put your racks in the big workstation or on iPad for more power to make complex patches. Go out there and learn modular and try out VCV to make sure this is the right option, and take it anywhere..Version: 3.70

Better and Better with each UpdateWith the latest introduction of Plateau Reverb I’m pretty happy. I wonder how far this port will be developed, which thus far seems to be moving along quite quickly! I’m seriously impressed with the speed at which the developer responds to requests and gets things implemented, with IAA it becomes possible to now process things using external plugins for some final polish. I’ve also tested out sending MIDI from Patterning 2 and that works great. I’m excited to see where this ends up, its an extremely fun app..Version: 1.50

Thrilled to have this!As a VCV Rack user I am thrilled to see this on iOS. A match made in heaven. Given the multi touch limitations for module controls, midi control is extremely important for more performance oriented work. Currently I’m running a 2018 iPad Pro with an Arturia MiniLab MKii. Things seem to be working well. It is amazing to have a giant euro rack modular running on batteries and fitting in my backpack, and saving my patches. MiRack is a dream come true. I hope MiRack will be a permanent addition to my iOS experience!.Version: 2.01

Virtually NO documentationYou can look up details on some of these modules on the web, and you’ll have to as documentation here is extremely weak. Basic stuff like, how do I save the generated output as an audio file appears to be nonexistent. Modules have a “manual” link but so far all I’ve seen there for the most part is a phrase that restates what the module is which was obvious. I’ve not found a community forum and support on the developer’s site is just an email address. If it were a free app, that’s one thing, but as a $9.95 port of VCV rack, it’s the bare minimum. And attempting to save a wav file from the sampler crashed the program and lost my patch entirely..Version: 2.10

Awesome app!Very cool, intuitive application that lets you explore the realms of modular without investing thousands of dollars! I give it 4 stars because for some reason, the visuals for the knobs have been glitching out (the functionality still works) on MacOS and it won’t display the changes you are making. Once it has the hiccup, if you try to add a module to the rack, the faceplate UI with turn completely opaque. Only work around I can currently do is to save the project, close the app, and reboot. However, the glitch has been fairly persistent. Hoping a patch can fix this..Version: 3.05

Nice port of vcv rack could use some info thoPort works great, touch interaction seems to work well. Everything is running smooth on iPad air2 which is pretty old now so that’s great. I would love to see some info in the app such as cpu load, audio info such as sample rate , buffer and latency info, and audio interface options. I’ve yet to try it with my es8 for interacting with my modular yet... I REALLY hope this app will continue to be supported. I’ll be following it closely. Fluxwithit.Version: 1.0

Bug report March 24, 2022Hey guys the player is not loading samples which are saved in the documents folder. It used to work fine but now I just crashes every time. This just a heads up can you fix that please thank you! Love this app it’s awesome :-)! Actually it’s almost June 2022 and the player is still not loading samples curious… Can you fix that? Please thank you.Version: 3.69

Isn't polyphonic. In fairness, the description doesn't claim polyphony. But I suppose I've come to expect polyphony in any synth app, whether it is mentioned in the description or not. I'm new to modular synths, and I didn't realize this wasn't polyphonic, until after I had already spent several days learning it, and had finally built my first working midi synth, and noticed it wasn't playing more than one note at a time. Spent another day trying to figure out which modules I would need to make it polyphonic, only to finally discover that there literally ISN'T any polyphony in this app. Amazing modular synth. But pretty astonishingly useless if you are like me, and needed polyphony. Looks like mirack is going into my "junk" folder, at least until polyphony is added, which might be never. But in the mean time, there are other modular synths available for iphone, which have polyphony..Version: 3.05

A Sound Erector Set!Update: I missed that this app is stand alone only! That’s useless for me. I’m leaving the 5-stars, for now, because they said that they plan to add IAA or AUv3 later. —— Anyone remember the 1950s metal Erector Sets that you could make anything with if you had imagination (and enough parts)? This is the audio equivalent! I bought the app and was grumbling to myself about no documentation and everything is so small and I can’t figure out how to remove a module once put in place. Then I found the zoom! LOL And hour later (and a forgotten TV baseball game) and I’m snug, hid away, building my Erector Set Sound. (Still don’t know how to remove a module.) More fun (and more challenging) than the Moog Model 15 since miRack is an open architecture..Version: 1.03

Everything I’ve been waiting for.Performs great. The details were clearly thought through and the interface is nicely optimized for touch. Plenty of modules to choose from, including many of the ones I’ve already used often. Hard to believe it’s just the first release. Can’t wait to see what future updates bring!.Version: 1.0

Thank youThis is too good to have in my pocket at all times. After about 2 months of no issues the app is crashing on open. I don't have anything extravagant i was working on but the app currently won't open. Hopefully it gets fixed asap cause this was the best 15 bucks I ever spent.Version: 3.69

This doesnt work at allDozens of music production apps like BM3, aum, maschine, mpc... synths, fx you name it and this app wouldn’t even open properly. Only once managed to open a demo but it crashed after 30 seconds. In theory this is a cool app but maybe my 5th gen app is too old and all these 5 stars own ipad pros or something. Avoid avoid avoid..Version: 3.54

Extraordinary sound from an extraordinary app by an extraordinary developerWhat can I say? I think it’s extraordinary. Seriously. Modular synths are daunting (for me, at least), but the feature set, the frequency of updates, and the sheer number of basic and bizarre sounding modules makes it worth it. I’m blown away by the dedication of the developer to put so much effort and care into this..Version: 2.10

Mobile Eurorack? Yes please!I just started using this about a week ago but I've quickly fallen in love with it. It's easy to use, there are some great tutorials on getting some amazing results, it's portable and fun. What more could you ask for? Well I have a few suggestions :) - I'd like to have an undo and a redo feature added - I'd like to have the ability to turn auto-save on and off so that if I reload a saved patch it's loaded at the saved state instead of the last state automatically - I'd like the ability to sync to iCloud in addition to being able to save directly to iCloud.Version: 3.50

Very good port of vcvI’m loving this so far, def my favorite modular app on iOS. Can’t wait for the auv3 update. I would really love to see the alright devices modules ported over sometime in the future (chronoblob, twrex) and some more VCF’s (maybe even the free vult stuff (slap) But all in all this is quite a lot to get going with, thank you!.Version: 2.02

Better than sliced breadSo you think like music? Over the last couple years i have obssessively dived into this and other virtual synths. I absolutely cannot tolerate how much i love it and how fulfilled i now feel as a person..Version: 3.70

Game changerLove the app a lot of love has been put into this glad to support hard working devs like this thanks for porting and adding all these great new features I would have paid 3x this knowing all the functionality being added! Thanks again 🙏.Version: 1.06

Looks great but how to use it???I love great and innovative music making ideas, but maybe provide some sort of guide or video tutorials on how to use this for complete beginners. I thoroughly support developers that come up with brilliant ways to create new sounds and music but never assume that everybody knows how to use your app. Please help us get started!.Version: 1.0

I really enjoy this appI spend so much time playing with this app on my iPad, my real world eurorack gear gets neglected! I just tried it out on my Mac, and I am so excited to have its full goodness on my mac too!.Version: 3.68

Nice start, needs more audio routingUpdate: Please add the ability to lock a module in place. I find often when I’m trying to move a knob, the module suddenly jumps to another place in the rack. Great port of VCV rack. Adding the advanced audio module from Fundamental pack that would allow inter app audio and Audiobus would make this 5 stars..Version: 1.01

Amazing but could use some quality of life featuresIt would be great to have an undo and redo button, sometimes you accidentally change something and it’s not always easy to figure out what happened. Also, can midi out be supported?.Version: 3.05

Incredible WorkIf you thought you would never afford a eurorack system, you were wrong. I know I was! Fantastic development and a supportive community..Version: 2.02

Best Experience with PencilWhile I love VCV, this on a 12.9 iPad Pro with Apple Pencil 2, in bed with headphones is the greatest thing ever. Developer has a great website and blog, keeping us updated with new modules and features. First review of an app and I have everything..Version: 2.02

Awesome - if modular is your thing!Almost 300 modules out of the box to experiment with. No internal documentation for the modules, but since they’re open-source we shouldn’t have much trouble looking them up online. Excellent kit value for the price!.Version: 1.0

Overwhelming modular realityThis is really well done and is logical and works perfect so far. It is super complex, but that is its genius and only my user errors and learning curve stand in my way. This is literally a virtual euro rack so what can you say.... thanks and wow.Version: 2.02

The app works great! It was a long time waiting something like that for iPadOS. The touchable interface makes the experience nicer if we compare with the desktop. So happy. Thanks!.Version: 1.0

Experimenting, learning, and having fun.A fantastic app i’ve been using for planning and problem solving as I build my first real life rack. Love it..Version: 3.70

WhoaThis thing is awesome. Works pretty good on my 5 year old iPad. I can’t imagine how much better it would be on a current model. Makes me want to buy an iPad Pro..Version: 1.01

Great StartThis is a great start, however, it is missing multiple audio channel out and MIDI out. Other than that, this is pretty great so far, and I can’t wait to see where this project is going!.Version: 1.01

Been dreaming of this...Been using vcv racks, and was always hoping for a touch screen version. So well made, module selection and all... Top notch product, pure awsomeness! Thx :-)).Version: 1.01

Amazingly Low CPU usage! Was worried about running this due to VCV being such a CPU hog on desktop. But this runs smoother on my ipad than VCV does on my super duper desktop. Its uncanny. Incredible app..Version: 2.02

I can’t believe how good this is….Amazing! Only thing I wish it had is night mode…..Version: 3.54

Amazing synth modules! There's a lot to get lost in here! I am flabbergasted at the wealth of synth toys here. I haven’t loaded it up yet but it’s running great on my orig iPad Pro. This is a must have synth app..Version: 1.0

OmgHaven’t been this excited about an app in a long time. This gets me one step closer to working exclusively on the iPad..Version: 1.60

Great App!This is easily one of the best music apps on iOS. There are other “modular” apps which are OK but this is killer! Saved me getting a hardware modular!.Version: 1.06

I used to love this appBut it currently auto crashes instantly and I can’t use it. Bummer.Version: 3.68

Amazingly powerful!!I'm on an ancient iphone 6s still and mirack is slaying it in terms of running smoothly with a ton of modules loaded. im even able to run elastic drums along side mirack (both recording simultaneously into multitrack daw). will never be board again with this gem. worth every penny..Version: 3.54

Amazing appExcellent, can’t wait for new modules and features..Version: 3.87

Criminally UnderpricedThis app is absolutely killer, and falls into the category of I'd gladly pay a modest subscription to ensure it's continued success..Version: 3.70

Great job porting to iOS!Update: The IAA and Audiobus feature has been added. The best skeuomorphic modular synth app on iOS. But is there a way to record it with inter app audio or audiobus?.Version: 1.66

The app is great!I love using this app. Is amazing Note for dev team. Since last update I have significant low volume on my headphones that are connected using the usb c jack adapter on my iPad Pro 11. In fact when I connect them I’m unable to change the volume at all.Version: 4.04

DopeDope.Version: 3.84

WowMe luv dis ap it so gud.Version: 3.74

MODULAR SYNTH!Need I say more?? You can’t do better in iOS. Get this.Version: 3.72

Super useful!Great to have VCV on iOS. It’s a nice implementation for touch interfaces. I’d like to see Befaco modules and more quality sequencer modules included, but for what it is it’s great!.Version: 3.70

Aural LabratoryFantastic port of VCV Rack; the value is unparalleled considering everything that’s packed in here. Also, Eurorack with patch saving is an absolute luxury. Now to get a bigger screen….Version: 3.65

Simply greatFantastic app! This is an iPad app that I use the most !.Version: 3.54

Amazing iPad modularEuro rack on the iPad. So good!.Version: 3.54

VCV rack for iOS!!!Really great porting of VCV rack to iOS!.Version: 3.53

Too good for its own goodIt’s VCVrack on your iPad, what else do you want?.Version: 2.02

Can't record on ipad, keeps crashing when i want save a wav file in folders. The app is good, but it keeps crashing anytime i try to save a recording in my folders!.Version: 2.02

Universal! modular on iphoneWorried you might be charged for the iphone version, even though you have already paid for the ipad version? fear not. you won't be charged a second time. this is, annoyingly, how apple's system works. to the developer; thank you for making this available on ios. thank you especially for bringing it to the iphone. sounds great and lots of fun..Version: 2.01

It’s amazingIncredible app , lots of update ! Yes support is great ! Thanks for this amazing app..Version: 1.50

Lost a patch 😩As far as I see there is no way to get out of the presets folder once you’re in it (was exploring for an option and could not get back to the Rack screenI Was forced to load a preset and loose over an hours worth of patching! Awesome app needs a few tweaks for sure! Auv coming? User patches cloud feature ? Record and transfer recording via File share? Better more realistic GUI like Model 15 (Moog)? This app should be 6 stars if it takes on the full potential of presets mixed with major developers adding new modules to swap into already awesome patches... you would almost never need another synth app !!!!.Version: 1.66

AmazingGreat port of VCV Rack, especially now that IAA recording is enabled, Dev is super on top of it and has been updating with new modules frequently!.Version: 1.50

Three things:1. miRack bringing modular to the iOS platform has been a welcomed accomplishment 2. @mifki’s accessibility to the Audiob.us/IOS community’s feedback & suggestions for miRack with subsequent updates has been commendable. 3. I enjoy this app and recommend getting it 👍.Version: 1.07

Impressive concept, but....Ok, I was pretty mad when I first tried to open it up...like a ghost, really. I think it would really be useful to modular synth newbs like me to have a few setups in a preset starter folder. Pretty overwhelming and no built in tutorials or demos is a little dubious. Also needs audio recording support of some kind!.Version: 1.01

SuperI can’t believe this thing exists. What a time to be alive!.Version: 1.0
