WiZ (legacy) Positive Reviews
Very impressiveI don’t usually write reviews unless something is really amiss. In this case, I’m writing because of how thoroughly impressed I am! I love all of the options for customization. I’ve used several ‘smart’ lights over the years, each with their own app, and the quality of those apps is usually pretty bad, which is why this one stands out. It’s intuitive! It doesn’t crash every five seconds! And it’s not a struggle to reconnect to the lights when you want to change their settings. My favorite aspect is that you can choose different light settings depending on how many times you flip a switch. We’ve gone back to the store twice just to get more bulbs to put around the house. The *only* possible improvement I can think of would be having more customizable dynamic lighting options (i.e. if you could pick a few colors for it to cycle through), but that’s a really small thing compared to everything you *can* do..Marck583Version: 1.24.3
Update to the New AppUsing this app only to integrate with Alexa and the required Skill. I’ve used one Wiz bulb for over a year now (others are Hue bulbs) and had no problems until a few weeks ago when it stopped responding to Alexa commands. I received a notification through the Alexa app stating basically that the account verification period had expired and needed to be renewed. The device would show “Server Unresponsive” as a result. I opened the Wiz app and instantly got a notification that there was a new app that Wiz switched to and that I must download and migrate my account over. Migration occurred automatically upon opening the new app. Followed the steps and got logged into the new app. Deleted the old app. Had to Re-integrate back to my account in the settings menu of the Wiz app and then re-installed the Wiz skill back into the Alexa app. Finally, the Wiz Skill kept prompting me to enter a six digit pin that was supposedly generated in the Wiz App settings under Integration, however no pin is presented as I’m assuming the new app no longer uses this method of verification. The light ends up working even without a PIN number so I’m now running smoothly again. I think the Wiz skill could be updated..Kjohnson0623Version: 1.25.0
It's ok on the old versionI have never migrated to the new version but it seems like there are more negative reviews from people using the newer version. I do have issues every now and then with bulbs dropping a signal and having to repair, but that's usually it. and one other issue I've noticed is that the app does not adjust for daylight savings time. So I usually have to go in and adjust the time frames for the outdoor bulbs I have on a schedule, so that's just a little bit annoying. I have the same issue as others where the App will tell me I'm not connected to the correct Wi-Fi, but if I opt to pair manually it usually works for me. The bulbs themselves are amazing, I am super picky about lighting, so I love being able to adjust the Tone, brightness, and literally every color in the rainbow! The app could use some work though, it would be nice if things worked a little smoother and the signal wasn't dropped as frequently. I understand the bulbs are a newer concept, so it probably just takes some time to perfect this kind of application but I hope they work out the bugs because they'll definitely get an update of five stars from me if they do!.Mcdarlington8Version: 1.27.0
Request more flexibilityFor the most part, I am enjoying the Wiz app and it’s control over my lighting. I have been using the Wiz app and bulbs in my house for over a year, mostly confined to one room, but I recently expanded to several more rooms. I set up different color scenes for different occasions, moods or times of day, in different rooms. It’s extremely useful having scenes connected through Alexa.
I do wish to see more functionality added to the app though. Mostly through the control of color selection. I would like to be able to establish my own color combinations, e.g. ocean cycles through preset blues, I would like to cycle through colors that I choose. I would also like to see better organization within the scenes tab. I have multiple scenes established for multiple rooms. Scrolling through the list gets cumbersome when using the app searching for a specific room and scene. Maybe be able to collapse a room within the list? I would also like to group multiple rooms into a scene. For example, I would like to be able set a scene across multiple rooms at once..UpNiTVersion: 1.26.1
Functionality RequestEdit:
Would also request option in app for dark mode.
Enjoy the app. Thought I would throw this out there. It would be nice to have this option when you place single bulbs in the app into a group. This is a great option which I enjoy. It would be nice if you could add this feature. When you long hold on a group of bulbs you created, it then brings that group to the forefront. Here would be nice to add an option to allow the manipulation of a single bulb in the group. So you could change color, brightness, etc. Instead, currently you would need to drag the bulb out of the group, wait for app and bulbs to refresh, then change color on that single bulb. When done, you then have to drag that bulb back into the group if you wish to control a group of bulbs at the same time (not an entire room). This would be a great feature to add and I hope it comes under consideration. I have enjoyed the app since downloading almost 2 months ago and have lots of theses wiz & philips bulbs..Tech-BVersion: 1.26.1
My experience with Bluetooth lightbulb. My experience with this Phillips bulb has been really good. I love everything about it especially that you could turn it off at your phone. You can also pick any color you want in the rainbow. Summer more vivid than the other but you always can get great colors. There’s also a lot of moods that is very convenient for different situations. The only thing I would love to have in this bulb is a black light. To make everything white glow like you were in a nightclub. Besides that everything else is perfect about the bulb. Easy set up an easy to used. I love having mine..Afs2310Version: 1.22.1
Simple and works well, but…Simple and easy to use although horizontally scrolling to access rooms isn’t the greatest user experience. In need of some simple UI improvements / options, but mostly OK and has worked consistently since setup.
There is a v2 of the app and unfortunately the reviews for it are abysmal. If you decide to remain on the legacy app you are punished each and every time you open the app by having to bypass their popup message urging you to switch to v2. Additionally if you switch to v2 and decide to switch back all your data will be gone and you’ll have to re set up everything. Insultingly bad user experience. Otherwise this is a solid 4 star app in need of only minor tweaks.
There are vague replies to poor reviews of v2 suggesting fixes or improvements are coming soon but without knowing for sure when those will happen or if they will work… I will continue to use v1 legacy begrudgingly..BspeedVersion: 1.29.0
Keeps changing on its ownI honestly love the idea of changing your light bulb colors and it is actually really cool. The thing that bothers me is that when it gets late it gets darker. I'll be in my room with no intention of going to bed and my light will slowly get darker until it's on the night mode which is just a small light for when it's night. I turn the lights brighter then it does it again. I have to chang it to any other color and sometimes it still even does it. The other day I was in my room with my phone off and my lights start going to a pinkish to a light orange to a yellow over and over again and it wouldn't stop. It was so random and I wasn't touching my phone and no one in my house has the app to control my lights. It was really weird and it happend twice that same day but not any other day. Other than that, having color changing light bulbs is awesome..Cats cats cats and more catsVersion: 1.25.0
Getting better - room for improvementIt would be appreciated if WiZ would publish a change log somewhere so we can have some more details on what bugs are resolved in each release.
This app and the associated ecosystem has improved over the years but can still be better. I’ve amassed a collection of over 30 WiZ enabled bulbs and fixtures. WiZClick is a great feature with one glaring hole - the missing ability to select a rhythm as one of the choices when flipping the lights on. Flip on the lights - sync to the room rhythm. A quick off and on for the second time - an alternate present of choice - like cool white at full brightness. I’d also love to be able to use a single rhythm across multiple rooms or be able to copy a rhythm from one room to the next. Sadly I’ve asked support for this feature numerous times over the past several years with no sign of it to come. My fingers remain crossed..MWW83Version: 1.26.0
FINALLY able to switch to new appI, like many, was super frustrated about the migration over to the new app! After several failed attempts of following the old app’s migration instructions over the last few months, today I decided to try it one more time and it actually worked.
What I did that worked for me:
1. Downloaded the new app
2. In the new app, I chose to create a NEW home (do not do the migration!)
3. Create the rooms as desired. When adding each bulb, since I already had them connected under the old app, I turned it on and off **5 times** (vs 3 times as instructed by the app) until I saw the blue pulsing light
4. I then followed the pairing instructions on screen for the next steps, i.e. waiting for the light to flash purple, then connecting to the WiFi, and it FINALLY WORKED.
I could not for the life of me get the migration process to work no matter what I did. I also tried to set up a new home previously with the new app by following the instructions in the app but my bulbs weren’t being recognized. I did some googling and found that to re-pair bulbs (that are already paired up!!) you need to turn it on and off FIVE times versus the 3 times (the 3 times only works when pairing brand new bulbs).
Hopefully this helps someone else out!!!.GreenbirrdVersion: 1.22.2
Good quality but hard to set upThe controls are great and everything works well once it has been set up. The issue is exactly that. Those lights will not set up on a regular dual band Wi-Fi network. You will have to either have a split network or disable your 5.0 network before setting this up. Then on a separate set up you need to install it with your voice devices (Alexa and Google). Not sure if it works with Siri.
Took me many days to figure out why I was not being able to set it up. Once you been through this ordeal, then everything is wonderful and the controls are just what you need. Easy to organize in groups and do very much anything you like. The installation however, either needs to improve or come with more comprehensive instructions..KHD21Version: 1.23.0
FaultyIt sometimes works; sometimes the colors stay. But the main problem is when I want to use any of the timed lights or a rhythm. It will not stay. Also, whenever I want to turn off the lights by my phone or remote it will not stay on. Meaning that basically almost all the functions of my lights are useless except for maybe getting the kind of battalions lighting I want. Even that is faulty. I see other reviewers blame it on an update but honestly this is all I’ve known. If the problem isn’t fixed soon I’ll just have to return my lights and get normal light bulbs.
—————————————————————————
Update: it is now 4 stars. The colors stay and I don’t need to reconnect the bulbs every 12 hours (they stay connected thank god). I still have an issue with the on/off feature.
IT WILL NOT STAY OFF. I can’t use my phone to turn it off.
It might stay off for a few minutes but it will just turn on again and as daylight mode. This means I can’t use the timed light modes which is really unfortunate. Other features I can use now though so a great improvement..A-dreyVersion: 1.24.3
Great app! + feature requestThis is a really great, life changing product. The simplicity, precision, customization, and cost-efficiency is second to none. My only feedback is that it would be REALLY great if you could customize the app color background (like the light & dark appearance settings on iPhone, but have it automatically change based on time of day, or sync to the dimmer level). There’s no fun in having your lighting set to a perfect dim mood… then opening the app to make an adjustment and being blinded by the bright white background. Other than that caveat, I highly recommend the Wiz lights & app!.Drew DeRockVersion: 1.27.0
AmazingThis is honestly the most amazing lighting I have ever had. My brother got me two light bulbs for Christmas and I love them so much. There is an awesome lighting array and you can save the colors that you like the most.
I love that they have packets I guess of colors. I think my favorite group of colors is the ocean one. The lights can be super relaxing and the focus setting really helps me focus on my homework. Since I had two I set one up in a lantern in my room and set another one up in the bathroom to mess with my brother when he is showering😂. I don’t have any complaints about these lights and the app. This is the best investment ever. They are easy to set up too!.Dragons lover 2.4Version: 1.21.10
It just worksThis original WiZ app works pretty well. Its fairly intuitive and you get a lot of options. I use it for automation of about a dozen indoor and outdoor light bulbs. Connecting new lights can occasionally take a few minutes, but I have never had connectivity issues once connected, with this app. The main problem is the “v2” app, which is considered the update to this, except it’s complete trash. I just uninstalled it and came back to this one. As long as you stick with this app, you’ll have a great experience..Anonymous9393940Version: 1.27.0
Usually works but now it has stopped workingBefore my app updated itself it worked great and wonderfully, however as of recent the app had told me to download their new app and transfer my data. I did do this and acknowledge their term of agreements however the new app was confusing and my light was disabled so I went back to the old one. There was one problem, my light was still disabled on the app. So I deleted and redownloaded the app and tried to pair it again, however each time I try to pair (whether it be automatic or manual) it fails to do so. It’s very frustrating because now I cannot connect my light again and it’s all because the app updated itself..VgggssfdddfxVersion: 1.27.0
Please reattach this app to the wiz lightsThat new app is HORRIBLE and has its own mind turning lights off and on by itself, disconnecting lights that are one so you can’t turn them off, it’s horrible! And now it won’t even LET me use this app that was perfectly fine. The new one is not user friendly on top of that… I never had an issue with this app connected but ever since yall changed it it’s been nothing but a headache! I would rather get my money back and use regular lights than deal with the hassle and incompetence of the new app y’all have forced on is for no good reason considering it doesn’t work properly.Dāni MarieVersion: 1.29.0
Update not up to parWhen we were forced to migrate to this new app, we were told that everything would migrate over. After several attempts I still kept getting an error that the app would not migrate my data. The instructions were not very clear. Finally, my original app was accidentally erased and now I am faced with rebuilding my whole house.
Using the smart setup is worthless. It has not worked on any of my lights and I have had to manually set up each one. Several freestanding lamps will not connect at all
Then trying to get the new app connected to Alexa device - I find that Wiz is not listed in their directory
Very disappointed and quite frustrated.Capital PhantomVersion: 1.22.2
Wiz bulbsI had a terrible time trying to get my Wiz bulbs reconnected to the internet, but finally succeeded tonight. The problem started when our internet went out about a month ago. We ended getting a new modem. But the bulbs were no longer connected to the internet. You have no instructions for what to do in this case. You have videos on how to connect bulbs, but not how to reconnect. I had to figure that out on my own. To do this, I had to add the lights back to each room, and had to pair them once again to the internet, which I did manually. Please make a video for this. I am sure I am not the only one who has experienced this frustration..Mary c jVersion: 1.27.0
Hue tuneable led rgb downlights are great!1. Must have good Wi-Fi coverage. Your investing in lights fix your Wi-Fi too or you will say it doesn’t work.
2. I know you are excited to see the lights working. Install all lights in one area and then follow the WIZ instructions, lol, you thought you could do it without, I thought I could too.
3. Which will try your patience, go step by step and you will be rewarded with great lighting. WIZ app is a great start.
4. Auto setup does work, but you can also manually link your lights, frustrating at times but doable. ENJOY!.Fly by night peacenikVersion: 1.27.0
WizReally enjoy with certain bought light bulbs that I can create a blue light in my darkened living room a relaxing effect on my SAD ( seasonal affective disorder) as my eyes get over stimulated with bright lights so I do not view hardly anything on blue light devices even though I have specifically made blue block glasses made for it from my Opthamologist that still will not block enough bright light which stimulates me with an Disorder Bipolar. As I have aged it has only increased. So I expect to be inside a lot and go outside at early evening for socializing or walking.

An improvement, but could be betterI had left Wiz for Nanoleaf after being sick and tired of constant network errors and being unable to control my lights. After only 6 weeks with Nanoleaf, I’m getting rid of all of those bulbs and bought even more Wiz bulbs than before because at least this app works most of the time and setup is a lot easier and worlds faster.
That being said, would love to see an easier way to create scenes with multiple rooms together instead of individual rooms separately because that is a huge time sink trying to get an entire home to perform a mood change all at once..AvenuenickVersion: 1.25.0
Pretty good for the priceI thought i would save a few bucks and picked up a couple these instead of the Phillips Hue bulbs i’d been using - the major difference i’ve noticed are lower color saturation and fewer color options in the Wiz bulbs (user can’t define a custom array of colors to cycle thru but a few cookie cutter options are available from the manufacturer ie halloween, christmas, pastels, party) as usual you get what you pay for and in this case is a stable smart bulb that works and gets the job done - and now i have to switch apps to control a couple of bulbs which is a huge, self-induced PITA..GALACTERDVersion: 1.25.0
Feature request sunrise/sunsetOverall been really happy with these lights. started out with a couple to add some character to a room and wound up adding several more around the house. we like the ease of setup and the mostly straightforward app. one feature that I think would make this really killer is if “sunset” (and sunrise) were options in the scheduler. there are many api’s available to include this data in the app from the web and would make more sense out of the scheduler as the timing for sunset is always drifting. aside from that been really happy!.BherseyVersion: 1.25.0
Good but What about HUEI know just enough to compare Wiz to other IoT like apps (in terms of user interface and ease of turn on and begin using) and not in terms of more advanced program features Beyond simply linking and controlling to main platform.
Question: WHY is Phillips choosing to confuse customers with Both to the Wiz and Hue Applications (?)!
I begin my “smart home” with Philips (due to finally deciding on a platform and company that has been and will be around for a while), the other lighting companies are not well represented at the various stores I shop (I have to see the stuff).
Then after spending, a lot of money, too embarrassing to say, Philips decides to change their app.
Now I have Hue, Wiz, Luminary, and some others I forgot their passwords.
If you want two apps for your lighting, please allow both apps to work on all Phillips lighting products.
Finally, the Hue app is a very functional and simple application.
Thank you.U-FocVersion: 1.25.0
V2 is trashTheir new app is absolute dog shhh. Just from the screenshots alone it looks like it was made for a early 2000s iPod or worst yet a mp3 player. I don’t know who had the artistic liberties in the development of their new app but they should be fired. We love simplicity and clean lines. I don’t want to manage my lights from an app that looks like an app in one of those kids learning laptops, thanks but I’ll stick with this clean and elegant version of your app until you come to your senses..MetalaggressionXVersion: 1.27.0
Dark ModeIt would be great if the app had a dark mode. I’ve got my lights dimmed before bed, but the app (being white) is brighter than the light bulb! Update: thanks for the response. It would be helpful to also create “favorite” buttons separate from the menu so I don't have to scroll through the menu choices every time. Update: When setting the scheduled light color changes, it would be nice to allow for a 15-30 second transition period. When the light flips from say 2300 to daylight at the set time, it’s kind of annoying. But a transition period would be nice..CH_3Version: 1.27.0
Not the bestHonestly the lights are very good and I enjoy using them very much. For the first month of having them I’ve had little to no problems. But, this new update doesn’t allow me to change the lights color and when I try the whole app just crashes. I hope to see this get fixed because I really do enjoy these lights but the app just is not that reliable. Right now I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. Hopefully this stupid app works but right now I’m having trouble reconnecting all the lights and hopefully this app will decide to work again..Tedward FernsbyVersion: 1.24.0
This app is an infinitely better product than v2This app works better, looks better, and has all the bugs worked out. I don’t know why they felt the need to introduce a new version of the app. No chance I’ll be buying more Wiz bulbs if they stop supporting the original and force us to downgrade to their new version. I tried the new app (“v2”) and had nothing but issues getting my lights to work as they had before. I see zero benefit in switching—I can’t understand why WIZ thinks it’s customers would be interested in troubleshooting an experimental new app design in their spare time, when all they want is to turn their lights on and off. I’m sticking with this legacy app for its slick minimalism and intuitive user interface, and more importantly, it already works—the new version is an inferior product in both style and utility..Maclean WilliamsVersion: 1.29.0

Handy app but sometimes slowI love being able to set schedules for my bulbs and all the different colour options and dynamic lighting options.
My main complaint is sometimes you have to click on or off twice because the app doesn’t register the first click, it also feels a little slow to respond at times but I imagine that might be a limitation of the wifi connection with the bulb

Better than the new versionI use an IPad Pro mainly and this 'legacy' app works while the new one is clearly made for the iPhone and tends to crash. This version displays full screen on my iPad where the new version starts of small and needs to be zoomed into.. As it stands now the new version is a waste of time for me to even look at. In fact if the new one is sleeping in the background it makes the lagacy version crash when I start it up. Who ever wrote the new app needs to rethink their choices..Doctor49152Version: 1.29.0

Love the app, one suggestionSo this app is great and it works perfectly with my WalMart Value Brand and Philips Wi-Fi smart lights. I like to manually set up my lights to create a sunset effect that gets gradually brighter in the morning.
My only complaint is that once I have 10+ lighting effects set up (one at 7am, 7:05am, 7:10am, etc), there’s no easy way to move them all to another time.
Let’s say I now want to wake up at 8:30am instead of 7:30am. I now have to go in and change the timer on every single light effect that I had set up.
My suggestion would be to add a feature that lets me group multiple light effect settings and times together so that I can easily change them if I want to.
That way I can make something like,
7:30am Wake-up Routine (ON):
(7:00am light setting, 7:05am light setting, 7:10am light setting, 7:15am, 7:20am, 7:25am, 7:30am)
8:00am Wake-up Routine (OFF):

WiZ (legacy) Negative Reviews
Major Connectivity IssuesI loved the idea of creating custom colors for my lights with the changing of the seasons/holidays. I am using the light bulbs in my Coach lights and porch light. Unfortunately, there are major connectivity issues…in that one or more bulbs is regularly unable to connect to the app, therefore not turning on or not shutting off. It’s never the same bulb. The issue likes to randomly rotate between my 4 light bulbs. How often is this happening? Every other day. Every other day one or more bulbs won’t turn on/off. The app says the bulbs can’t connect to the wifi. I have to manually unscrew and rescrew the bulb back in and like magic, connectivity is restored.
The reason I purchased these bulbs was so that I could have my exterior lights turn on/off with a set schedule. Because of the crappy app, I never know when all 4 of my lights will actually work. On the rare day that all of them actually turn on, it’s not guaranteed they will stay that way. I’ve gone outside an hour later and one of the lights will be off. It’s infuriating. There’s no reason for the excuse of a weak wifi signal. I have a wifi booster in my garage.
My advice to you is to find smart bulbs that do not use the Wiz app. It’s nothing but a joke..QsefvvggdVersion: 1.27.0
Trash bulbs and trash app.Bulbs work fine for a week. Then stop working. The bulbs consistently have connectivity issues. I’ve tried unpairing and re pairing, changing WiFi settings, buying new bulbs and even bought a new WiFi modem and new router. Still the same old issues. The app will first state that one bulb isn’t connected to WiFi and the other one is but then will give me the option to turn the room on after a few seconds. I’ll turn on the room and request the lights to turn blue, for example. One light will turn a different color other than blue and the other one won’t even turn on. This isn’t a bulb specific issue, this happens with either bulb. I have their garbage bulbs in all rooms of my house and they have the same issue. I bought another set of Wiz bulbs and even those ones had issues out of the box. Sadly, they rarely update the app and their Alexa skill. Don’t rely on the possibly fake reviews posted on here. This is NOT a 4 star app and most certainly NOT a 4 star product. Anything with the Wiz logo should go straight from the factory to the landfill..Rk94120Version: 1.26.1
Make the app available for MAC desktopI’ve created shortcuts for my lights around the house. Didn’t realize the hoops I’d be going through, just to be able to turn on lights. Shouldn’t be this way. Philips light bulbs have you using this app. Fine, but if u want to try and use your MAC, this app isn’t available in the Apple App Store for your MAC. So don’t start making shortcuts later to find out, you won’t be able to use them because this app is only compatible on your iPhone or iPad. Everything else is cool, but for this MAJOR reason alone, my rating is a 1 star. Another thing about these colored bulbs, if this is a Hue Philips product, why can’t I use the Hue Philips app to turn these bulbs on? Why do I have to download another app like Wiz that doesn’t even have the Hue Philips name attached to it? I don’t like having to download a 2nd app to turn these bulbs on. I have the led Hue Philips strip. I thought their app would turn these bulbs on. They don’t. Too much money spent for all these hoops..IG:JoseBarajasVersion: 1.27.0
Not as advertisedI started integrating my home to the wiz light app. It was great- at first. Then I bought the strip lights to go around my living room. The extension light broke within 2 SECONDS of me trying to plug it to the original power strip. The metal prongs bent and broke off immediately. Then I couldn’t get the strip to connect to the app. So it just stays on this obnoxious white light. I tried to ignore that I just spent $80 for the product not to work at all- because I still loved the light bulbs. UNTIL my house was STUCK on low lighting for the past 3 DAYS. The app just kept crashing every time I tried to change the light’s color. I tried to report the app get them to reboot it and there isn’t even an option to trouble shoot. EXTREMELY dissatisfied and going to be trying to return all 9 of my light bulbs and both lighting strips. Going to see if one of the other brands is actually credible..RiRi9696.Version: 1.24.1
Not going to migrateI just read a good portion of the reviews for your V2 app and given that out of well over 500 reviews, the average is less than one star I will definitely not be upgrading if you can even call it that! Not only are there, tons of complaints that either it doesn’t work with Apple, or just doesn’t connect at all after changing to the new app, but when I was reading the various options within my current apps settings for version two there were literally many typos in the instructions which leads me to believe that either the same people that developed the app and caused many bugs wrote the instructions or quality control is not the main purpose. I will definitely not be upgrading/migrating!! I also doubt I will receive developer feedback to this review..SkeefiezVersion: 1.27.0
I am extremely unhappy set up is horribleThus app is not ready for prime time and is extremely buggy and archaic to set up Philips bulbs. Very poor integration with Philips wiz enabled bulbs.
One problem is when I click on wiz help when wiz can not configure a bulb - there is no way to get out of wiz help unless I completely shut down my iPhone and reboot. Because when i try to close and then re open wiz app from my iPhone when I. Help it just takes me back to the wiz help menu. Only to use wiz again is to reboot the iPhone. There is no clickable link to get out if help.
The setup interface to find a wiz bulb is buggy and hardly ever works.
Another problem are Mac addresses of wiz/Philips bulbs. Philips does not print the Mac addresses on the bulb housing so the only way to find the MAC address is to set up the bulb first with the software and a Wi-Fi connection to the bulb. Impossible to do if one is using Mac filtering. Wiz did a horrible job integrating these bulbs with the software.
The setup and establishment of a Wi-Fi connection is a total pia philips and wiz need to make this seamless for the amount of money they charge for these bulbs. The help instructions are written horribly. Very disappointed after spending so much money in over a dozen Philips bulbs..TreadmillManVersion: 1.27.0
Great when it works, less than unhelpful when it doesn’tTo start off I think the app is great when it is working, honestly use google integration more than the app itself out of convenience though. The reason for the low rating is for when things aren’t working, cause both the app and customer support are less than unhelpful. There is no documentation for errors (my lights were saying “library error” and “missing MQTT certificate” with no explanation in the app or online for a fix) and customer support didn’t seem to know what the errors meant or how to fix it and just kept telling me to do the same things over and over and over and over again. So if your bulbs never give you issues the app will be great, but be aware if you ever run into any issues the app and customer support will be more frustrating than helpful.ConstantCuriosityVersion: 1.26.1
Perfect example of how NOT to build and app.Anyone who’s ever developed for a mobile platform should know that side by side app migrations are inherently risky... that’s why most application developers do not bother with this methodology. If something were to happen with the old app data while it’s being moved, then lord help whomever this happens to... which is what happened to me. The first migration attempt failed, and now the stupid new app is unable to retrieve and use the old app data, which means I am stuck having to re-pair 60+ lighting devices the “manual” way because I’m using a newer network. Great way to screw over your existing consumers! I’m sure the app is swell to whomever is new to the ecosystem and doesn’t have to migrate. For the amount I spent on WIZ bulbs this is unacceptable to me, and a complete waste of my time. I will probably be moving to a new lighting ecosystem..Squiddaddy81Version: 1.22.0
Guess it’s time to rip these outI’ve had these bulbs for about 2 years and in the last 6 months, they have somehow made this app so unusable it’s laughable. Past updates have just outright broken the app where you couldn’t change the brightness, colors, etc. Now all of a sudden my lights are gone from the app, and I’m unable to connect them again. Smart pairing can’t find them even if you have your phone right on the stupid things; manual pairing is even worse as your just stuck on a forever spinning circle in the middle of your screen, which you can’t back out of. Save yourself the time, headaches, and money and just get all the Philips Hue products and use their app, it’s cheaper to do that in the long run, then buying these bulbs and not being able to even have them do anything that you paid for them..V guy h my scVersion: 1.25.0
Piece of xxxFirst, it took me 2 hours to create a home and add 3 light bulbs. The manual and automatic entries are barely working. 2 hours so the app can finally find all 3 lightbulbs.
Second, I could not create an account upon first try with different logins. I finally managed to create one using my AppleID
Third, I could not add a guest from an iPhone 5. Worked with technical support, for hours until they dropped the ball and claimed they can’t help me and the owner, aka me, need to contact them from the registered ID community, without providing any link, a way to tell customers to drop dead!
It’s one of the most incompetent technical support. Reboot and retry.. if it’s not working, well.. good luck.. nice to meet you... they don’t even know how their app is working, asking me to click on some buttons that do not exist, even after sharing screenshots with them..Jyv95Version: 1.22.0
Very disappointedI got these for my birthday expecting a remote, but no. A app I have to download. Easy as pie right? No. The lights are stuck yellow and it tells me to manually get them to connect and they absolutely won’t! I have two pairs in my room and they won’t connect to either one of them. I think it’s a clear waste of money if they don’t even work, I’d rather lose the remote than throw a chair across the room.
Note: the instructions don’t tell you how to do this stuff and don’t come with an option of remote!
The lights don’t work whatsoever. I’ve tried everything and they don’t. Your company is garbage if you can’t give people an option of remote. Me and my dad are buying remote ones. Never using this again. Not even if I was dared 100 bucks..Sasukei~chanVersion: 1.26.1
Love the product but the app is terribleNever write reviews ever but I’m very fed up with the app. I put circadian rhythms on once and now its stuck on that setting for every color (I turned the feature off in every setting possible). I shouldn’t have to reconfigure the bulb for every glitch. It’s also very slow to recognize the light when you open the app in a home with strong wifi. It doesn’t stay consistent with the last setting you had on either when you turn on the light. I know it’s not a malfunctioning bulb because I’ve had multiple bulbs in different homes and this is how it is.
Love the features and options this product has, but it needs a strong app to make that worth anything. Hopefully that comes over time.Yankeesx55Version: 1.26.1
If you like every light turning on at 2am during a storm, this is for you.We have now experienced multiple overnight wakes up (including all 3 of our children 5 and under) during a storm when the power flickers and then every single bulb in our house turns on. We thought we were making our lives easier when we switched everything to Wiz bulbs. Instead, the setting that allows you to keep the lights off after a power outage doesn’t work and we spend the next who knows how long trying to get our kids back to sleep. This has happened at least 3x in 2 months.
Not to mention the fact that the app doesn’t work half the time and bulbs are constantly losing connectivity/not responding. We’ve stopped using Alexa to control the bulbs in our kitchen altogether, just going back to using the switch, because I can’t remember the last time that actually worked. The bulbs in one kids’ room are constantly unresponsive so we’re just using the switch in there. It’s honestly more of a pain than just having zero smart bulbs.
And your app still doesn’t have a dark mode setting?
We’ll be switching everything as soon as we can..Adriann_MAVersion: 1.26.1
DOES NOT WORKI bought several Philips light bulbs which I should be able to control via this app AFTER I WAS BURGLARIZED to make it look like I’m home at night. I was able to sync the first light bulb manually after a lot of difficulty. The other three light bulbs synced fine for whatever reason. I set up a schedule for the all but one of the lights to turn on/off and planned to turn the other light on/off randomly.
Several of the lights were showing as “unavailable” sporadically. Now ALL of them are unavailable and have been unavailable for several days. Being that I’m out of town, I need an app that reliably controls the lights without me having to trouble shoot the physical lights/my WiFi (which doesn’t go on/off) every few days. This app is NOT for anyone who is looking to reliably deter burglars..Hazel IyseVersion: 1.22.3
Never working properlyVery difficult to pair to your network and once paired, the devices will continually experience connectivity issues or glitches with color themes, schedules, and routines requiring you to delete it and re-pair it. If you delete the device with connectivity issues and add it again you can usually pair it again after a few tries but I suggest pairing manually because the smart pairing option never works unless you switch your router settings to 2.4GHz network only which is ridiculous. I have other brand technology on the same router requiring 2.4GHz network to function and have minimal issues with them. This technology doesn’t seem that adaptive to routers that run both which is basically the standard router everyone has in their homes..IllaclassiksVersion: 1.26.1
One of the most horrific apps I’ve ever dealt with.Imagine installing a bunch of smart lights in your home only to discover the control center has Alzheimer’s and forgets they exist every 2 months and you have to spend hours of your day resetting them and to be gaslit by being told you’re not connected to your WiFi, refuse for it to recognize or remember your network, and buy more bulbs often to fix your issue. Buy Philips hue. These are garbage.
After unstinting and reinstalling the app to fix for the umpteenth time in years, the app will now no longer open and crashes on the start page. Hundreds of dollars down the drain to this company that refuses to have any semblance of proper support..Ugh 11110001Version: 1.29.0
WIZ wants and wants and wants…So WIZ use to be good. Now they want all your information about your network, your location on always. I used to run off the cellular network. All of a sudden I’m not able to use the app because I don’t have Wi-Fi. I cannot move beyond the Wi-Fi page. So now the WIZ bulbs are regular bulbs now. What a waste. I took them to my sisters and the information the app was asking for ticked off my family. They used to set the evenings to be soothing at my place. Now they’re just another set of regular everyday bright bulbs. If you got the bulbs, return them to where you purchased them. If you don’t have Wi-Fi you cannot set up the WIZ bulbs. I did like them, I cannot utilize them anymore. I’ll look for something else now..Coffee1st-thenlifeVersion: 1.29.0
Horrible Customer ServiceI originally purchased a Phillips lightbulb that connected with the app. I originally had issues with the set up on that one however I was able to use their chat and get it working. A year later I ordered 2 more Phillips bulbs and I’m having issues getting them to work. The customer service chat that they had a over year ago is not the same that they have today. It takes hours for them to answer you. When they finally do answer, the help they give so has not worked. I also tried contacting them via email however it is an auto response to use their chat to ask questions..Tals3553Version: 1.22.0
Absolutely terribleI originally started out with Philips Hue which was an intuitive app and hardware that worked fine on all my devices and synced nicely with HomeKit. Ever since they released Wiz, I have had nothing but problems. Switch a password on your Wi-Fi? Gonna have to delete and re-add every single light. Lights won’t re-pair to your network? You have to delete the app and start over. Still not working? You can chat with a chat or for 10 minutes until you’re turned over to an outsourced technician who answers your messages at the rate of once every 15 minutes. I’m tossing these lights and never buying Philips smart lighting again. They took a great product and turned it into absolute garbage..DigiteccaVersion: 1.26.1
Throwing out the bulbsThe original app was difficult enough to get the lights to connect and then you had to deal with the app trying to update itself and migrate to the new app for months which didn’t work, but thankfully every now and then the old application would work and I can use the lights. Now, thanks to the new app and how incredibly complicated it is to set up the lights, I can no longer use the lights at all via the application. Who builds an app where the upgrade requires a complete new installation of the devices that previously worked with the older version of the app? Smart home devices and the set up and use of them does not need to be this hard in this day and age..Typical iPhone UserVersion: 1.23.0
Trash app but your only choice for wizI’m not sure how many years it has been since Phillips purchased Wiz, but it’s clear that prioritizing compatibility and functionality has always been last. Whether it’s shortcuts failing for no reason, a total lack of ability to integrate with the apple “home” app, or a total lack of security for the bulbs on your local network, this app seems great until you discover its numerous years long bugs! Hue app came first and was a way more robust product, and this festering garbage heap still lacks features the first Hue product had for years. I could write an app myself and it wouldn’t have been half this poorly thought out and executed. Terrible..Metal PeetVersion: 1.27.0
Cool concept. Poor executionSo I have a fan remote kit. My light socket is ALWAYS on and I usually control my light via the wiz app. This worked great for about a month. Now I use my remote. Because this app only sees the light 40% of the time now. I used to have a schedule set that would turn the light on. Worked better than an alarm clock. But now it won’t see it. I can open the app and leave it open. And I can watch the light connection come and go. One second giving me buttons to turn it on and off and change colors. Now I watch it go from options. To telling me to make sure my light is on and connected to WiFi.GeahjibVersion: 1.26.1
GarbageWhy don’t you let people know there is a newer version of this app? After setting everything up it THEN tells you there is a new app. It gives you a code and select migration in the new app but there is no migration selection. The cherry on the cake is the old app no longer works after installing the new app and you’re locked out of your bulbs.

I bought a pair of bulbs in Dec 2021. I installed both the bulbs on a single spot, close to router and paired to the app.
Everything worked fine with little glitches in once a while. Like lights would turn on in the middle of the night by itself once a month. I was fine with it. It’s okay, things can’t be perfect.
One month ago, after the update , lights turned from convenience to total inconvenience.
I could not control with app.
Light would turn on by its choice and turn off by itself. The buttons and controls in the app were useless .
I tried pairing again, tried new wifi, new id, another phone, switching places, restarting everything at least 20 times.
Guess what? Nothing worked.
Then contacted the customer support: they told me to do that all again.
I thought maybe they changed something from server end or updated software or something, maybe it will work.
Guess what?
Didn’t work
I have spent at least 50hours in last months trying to fix it.
Customer support replies once in a while, like after an hour or so and tells me to restart the lights, phone and router.

I noticed the app recently got a little glitchy- I could still control my lights' power, colour, and brightness, but trying to change any other settings like scheduling would give me an error.
I bought another pair of bulbs for living room tonight and they absolutely will not pair with my network (I work in tech, so this should be a breeze for me). The bulbs themselves seem fine but Wiz really needs to fix this app. Debating whether to just give up and move to Hue..RivgurlVersion: 1.23.0
