Upward: Christian Dating App Positive Reviews
It’s not bad but questionable things on here.Hey, so this is a pretty good app actually. It makes people stand out to me. Like they put in depth bios and knowledge or make their character stand out. The problem isn’t the people, it’s the like/match system. No, I can be wrong since this is my first time trying to use a dating app but, why does it cost a subscription to try to match with people that like you? Why are we forced to pay for the main component of the whole point of the dating; talking to a potential match? Like I understand if it’s for scam checks or stuff like that but that seems pretty weird to me or too much as I say. And like, I can’t even see who my matches are and I got to pay for that too with the matching system.
So I’m not too sure if this could but I’m going to say this and maybe hopefully it can change. Instead of not seeing our matches, we instead can see them, we get to talk/text for an hour and then when the time is up, we can either keep talking/texting or just move on with our lives. But if we don’t get along or be compatible with each other, we can say no and move on early. But if it’s vice versa, then we can do that. But as I have stated, this is my only problem with the app is just the matching system and likes. But if that isn’t possible then oh well, I tried at least. Thank you for reading this if you did :).AustinR3152004Version: 3.19.0
Great app for putting yourself out there!!I downloaded this app, matched with a few guys, and dated a guy I met on here for a month! Even though it didn’t end up working out, I was really impressed to meet such a godly man on a dating app!! As with any dating app, be cautious with profiles and meeting up (let other people know where you are even if you’re a hermit and don’t tell people where you’re usually going like me😂). But anyway, a friend told me I should give this app a rating so here I am! If you’re looking to put yourself out there and potentially meet someone who loves Jesus, this app could be for you! It didn’t work out for me, but hey, I am thankful to have known the guy for even a short while! We both were blessed by each other, but I knew I needed to end the pursuit of the relationship when I felt like God was not leading us together. With that, I leave a message to the ladies that I needed to hear too: BE HONEST. Tell the guy where you’re at, even if he seems like he’s head over heals for you and you’re not quite there. HOLD EACH OTHER WITH OPEN HANDS. Let the Lord lead you!!! SEEK THE LORD. Ask Him to show you His will regarding the guy in your life. If God directs away from him, don’t drag the guy on. Communicate, end well, and say farewell. Anyway, maybe someone needs to hear this advice and maybe someone just needs to hear part of it. Blessings on you as you hold your desire for a relationship before the Lord!!.Froggy Lover 7Version: 3.15.0
CHASE AFTER GODAt the time I was focusing mainly on God and work because I didn’t wanna get into another relationship. I hadn’t had the best experiences in the past; partly on my behalf because I was chasing after looks and worldly satisfactions. Upward kept popping up on my tik tok and I just ignored it. One day I was kind of thinking about it as it popped up again. I downloaded it. Matched with a good amount of guys started chatting, and even went on a few dates . Like every other dating app you’re gonna have those bots, fake Christian’s, and just people that wanna sleep with you. I ended up matching with this guy who was really cute and his bio/ pictures caught my attention. Went on our first date and he was sweet. Went on another date and the way he spoke about God and family I found really attractive. It was the first time I had the thought of “I could see myself marrying this guy” vs “wonder how good he is with kissing”. He ended up asking me to be his girlfriend and ever since then we’ve been chasing God together, praying together and separately, sending each other daily Bible verses. Advice: If you’re idolizing dating apps get off. Chase after God and dive into the word and your future spouse will come up running beside you. Trust Gods plan and be patient. Give it all to God and ask him to take things where he wants them to go. Not where you want them to go..Pls Answer This QestionVersion: 5.4.0
I’ll enjoy it when I canI would give this app a 4/5 but I put 5 because I think it will be a great app once I’m able to fully enjoy it. As for now, I can’t.
I am a missionary in Brazil, but I am from the States. I signed up thinking I could maybe move my location to my home state, Florida, and match with people there. But then I found out I couldn’t choose my location, or put in my american address. As for now, I am still in Brazil. My app store is set to only download apps available in the States. So I think that’s why I was able to still download Upward even though I’m currently in Brazil. I’m hoping maybe in the future, we can be able to change our location. It would definitely help me find matches where I usually travel when I do go to the States. As for now, I have an empty match screen haha. Maybe God will bring someone in my area of Brazil who is in the same situation with using Upward here and we’ll match and it’ll turn into a whole hallmark perfect ending. A girl can dream 😂. I think also adding the location could help if you are about to travel to somewhere in the US, you could change your location to there and be able to maybe set up a date with someone before you go on your trip.
Love it so far though! I pray that people find and meet their God given partner! God bless y’all!.Girlonaplane1006Version: 4.14.0
Great app! Finally!I love this app. It’s like a Christian version of Tinder. Mostly everyone here are looking for relationships & have a end game for marriage. The women seem really faith driven and traditional which I like, I haven’t gotten any matches yet because it’s my first day. But already liking the bios, and vibe from a lot of women on here. I have even seen girls that are from Tinder on here, but their bios are more in debt and they actually write something and explain what they are looking for as if maybe Tinder they just made it in hopes of finding something special other than guys who just wanted one night stands. Here those same girls are a lot more open. Unfortunately their aren’t many Christian women left in our society so there not a lot to choose from in most local areas your range runs out pretty quick. So if your ok with making a connection and feeling like it’s worth to travel to make such a great connection to meet someone if you have too. It’s not that bad of an app. I live in Arizona and it’s a party town would love to see a travel mode to see some women back in my hometown since I travel their often as well. Other than that great app for anyone who wants God at the center of their relationship. Can’t watch to see it grow. They should most definitely be promoting this in the church communities..$G13178$Version: 3.3.0
Meh……Nuff saidOkay as a woman using this app I guess there are some positives and negatives. I tried this app for exactly 2 days and at first it was fun and exciting seeing the likes and watching them add up but I guess it depends on what kind of person you are. I’m the type where if I already know someone likes me I’m more willing to invest time into that, but I couldn’t see anyone who liked me and that became frustrating after the first couple days when you have like 100+ likes but barely any matches. Lol. It’s not even that I swipe left on someone because they are unattractive but you just don’t know who would be into you and I guess that’s something they could consider fixing. I also agree with another reviewer in that when you do get matches, many people ghost after…due to browsing and “shopping” to see more matches. In this way I feel as though it’s a bit tricky to truly find someone who isn’t consistently browsing for more matches. Or the person is just not taking it seriously. It’s like it becomes a habit that many can’t stop and no true matches follow through to go on into anything deeper beyond “How are you?” I do believe there are some real people on there looking for something but personally it’s too hard to find them and I would rather let God do his work without me trying to force it. It’s not for everyone, but when it works (IF IT WORKS) it can really lead to great things I guess..AnnaroslyVersion: 3.4.0
Used Free, Finally WorkedI’ve been on dating apps of some kind for about 5 years. I’m not an ugly guy, but I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and I’m a Christian. I date to marry, but most of my life I’ve lived in Alaska which has a low female to male ratio. I started dating apps when I was living in England, and I used paid subscriptions on a couple older, more popular Christian dating apps. I got several matches, I had several dates. Nobody really meshed with me. That’s not the apps’ fault, I just didn’t feel like those women were exactly who I wanted. The problem was that those apps were super expensive. I decided to use other platforms. I downloaded Bumble, Tinder, and Hinge and intended to use them without subscriptions. Bumble was absolutely the worst. Women are supposed to initiate on that app, but so many don’t. The few conversations I had were shallow and short. Tinder had some girls that looked normal and innocent enough, but I never met up with them. Hinge was probably the second best app out of them all, and I had several good conversations and met up with a few women. But finally, I met my girlfriend using Upward. It still took a while for me; she said she was only on the app for a few days before we matched. We’re both dating to marry, and we share so many values. I’m happy we downloaded Upward..Cmk67Version: 5.4.0
Could be betterIt’s a great app but could better Ive several issues regarding my subscriptions I’ve paid for not reflecting in the app. Such as my elite membership that I purchased 2 maybe 3 different times this month as well as the several premium memberships none of which bare giving me access to those level features. I’ve messaged him them several times asking if they could fix that or refund my money and they never email me back. I emailed them Friday and they said they would get back with me and never did, I even wrote a review yesterday and it didn’t get posted. 2. A i had to create a new account after my phone number changed because of their system signing me out and making me type in my number which had been changed so it made me create a new account. So that may be part of the issue. So upward needs a different sign in method because folks change their numbers all the time and shouldn’t have to create a new account or not be able to access features because they worried about fraud. It’s the same IP address and name on the account and debit cards it’s not fraud I’d like the money back I’ve spent on both accounts this month especially seeing as though my old account I lost access to it 2 days after I paid the elite membership and the premium. How can this be fixed or I’ll just delete my account and tell my friends not to join here..GodspeeacherVersion: 2.20.0
Not bad, but needs improvementsIf you’re the kind of guy who’s struggling to get attention on other apps like Tinder or Bumble and you’re also a Christian, this one might be a little better for you. I find that the women on this app tend to be less entitled and don’t have such high standards, basically if you’re decently attractive, it’s not hard to find someone who genuinely wants to talk to you and doesn’t have 40 other guys messaging them. However, the main flaw that this app has is the lack of any kind of distance filter, it’s not a huge problem because it shows people’s distance whenever you view their profile, but it’s annoying because after using the app for a little while, like 3/4 of the people it shows are over 60 miles away. Another thing I like about this app is that it seems like you don’t have to swipe for that long for it to show you someone who’s liked your profile, however that may have changed in the most recent update which has adopted a Tinder style likes page which you need a subscription to see, and is actually more expensive than Tinder. So overall the app is pretty good but it needs a location filter(that you don’t have to pay for because on some apps you do) and just more users overall..ZempshirVersion: 2.1.3
Christian App but not really ChristianI never expected something for free daily but what I do expect is a better way to advertise. Do not state free but to see the people who obviously want to get to know you charge for them to communicate with you. Also you should be able to see a few people daily who like you. I’m not saying 45 a day but at least 3 a day you should be able to see. Can we make this a little more user friendly if I like someone I can’t go back and look at the ones I have liked. You can look back on the most basic and common dating apps. I believe there’s a need for a true Christian community and a true Christian dating app but let’s be Christ like when we’re doing modifications and updates on the app and add more Christianity to the app. Let’s bring the equally yoke together and stop having our hands out at every turn. God will always provide when we are doing his work. Before you make another update please pray and ask God where and how you can make this app more user friendly, more Christ like and how to connect more matches together without charging them a couple arms and a few legs. I really want to see this app evolve because the basis is really good it just needs some more love, attention, support and communication. I really hopes this helps a lot. I want to be able to send all my friends to this dating app..TaCaramomVersion: 4.15.0
Needs User VerificationI really want to love this app as the interface is really good and I’ve had some decent conversations with some girls on it. But this app REALLY needs some sort of user verification. The last match I got seemed really great at first. I gave her my number so we could talk easier. We seemed to have a lot in common and our conversation was really nice and everything seemed normal; at least, it did at first. All of a sudden, she sent me a completely unsolicited inappropriate photo of herself and later on, I got a phone call from her number, but it was a male voice on the other end of the call and he claimed he was her father and that his daughter is only 16 years old and that he was going to the police and would file criminal charges against me for child porn and solicitation of a minor. I now know it was a scam and the girl I thought I was talking to probably never existed and this person was just trying to scare me into sending money to avoid getting into some serious trouble. This really freaked me out, but luckily I just blocked the number and nothing more came from this horrible situation. But this was still an absolutely terrible situation and there really should be some sort of user verification to avoid this sort of thing. Please just fix this problem before someone really gets hurt and this app would be sooo much better..Dalton1044Version: 3.4.1
Okay but too many glitches.I would give more starts due to having had some good conversations that have led to some great connections and friendships. Probably more Christian men that have been serious about real dates than any other app I’ve used. Unfortunately there are too many glitches on this app that it actually makes an impact on the quality of the conversations. The app is supposed to be a safe introduction to meeting someone without having to give out your personal email or phone number quite yet but you can’t actually engage in a conversation without the app switching pictures and people, deleting messages, kicking you completely out of the app for hours or days making people think you ghosted them. The costumer service isn’t helpful even after months of it glitching so terribly. The matching system is also an issue. I swipe no on someone then they show up in the pile over and over again. So you end up eventually looking through the same people even though it shows pictures of people you’ve never actually seen in the pile in the “see who has liked you” advertisement.
This is supposedly a “Christian” dating app but there are also other religions on here; Mormons, Catholics, Orthodox Jews, Muslims, etc. There should be a more in depth application process or something..AppReviewer_109Version: 4.15.0
I found my husband on this app!I usually don’t write reviews but this app is the exception! I had tried different apps hoping to find my “one” to no avail. I had just about given up hope when I came across this app. I decided to give it another shot as this was a Christian app and I had never been on one before. Not even a week in I matched with this guy an hour away from me. We hit it off immediately and facetimed almost every day. He told me his cousin convinced him to get the app as he bad never tried online dating before. (Thank goodness he did!) On our first date we both had that “God moment” where a voice in our heads both told us “they’re the one” loud and clear. We continued dating and, a few months later, he proposed! Fast forward to almost a year from when we first met: we said “I do” in my childhood church. We have no doubt that God used this app to bring us together. We have been married for almost 6 months now and continue to have a blast every day. He is truly my best friend and I cannot thank the Lord or Upward enough for sending me the man of my dreams! We are so grateful for you and cannot wait to continue our journey together!

Mixed feelings tbh. Love and dislike itI downloaded this during quarantine. Things ive noticed you can’t see who likes you unless you match. I wish there was a way to see who liked me. There may be people i skipped over or never saw there. I have matches but people barely message on there. So its a little discouraging maybe offer a video chat feature. Also i noticed that there are people on there that aren’t even Christian. It’s literally a Christian dating app. People are “ spiritual “ that don’t even consider themselves Christian... that’s weird to me. I would think on a Christian Dating app that people are actually doing on there to date not be casual. I’ve noticed some people are on there looking to get there freak on... like go on tinder or something. Sorry I’m sure the creators of the app have great intentions. I wish there was a way to be selective on the app i never know where people i match with are from. I’m african american and a women and barely see any men that are black. I don’t discriminate i love em all... but it would be nice to be shown some people like me. Most of the people i see are hunters, fishermen etc😭i love jesus but man im getting discouraged with who i see. To sum all that up Can there be a paid maybe 2.99 feature to see who liked you😫?please.Djkay9815Version: 2.0.15
Looks good, has potential, needs time to growI’ve used the app for about half an hour, and for an app that’s 2 weeks old, I’m pretty impressed. Some things to consider though: First, because it’s a new app, there’s not a whole lot of profiles to swipe on, for me anyways. I live in a developing, midsize, college town in a semi rural area. I had 4 or 5 profiles within 10 miles away and 6 or 7 in the nearest big city an hour away. After that I started getting a bunch of profiles 100+ miles away. Second, a distance filter would be nice. I could see people in my area and not see people I’d never interact with in person. I’ll update my review once I use the app longer and hopefully get at least one match.
Update: I’ve used the app for about a year and have had mixed results. Nice to see that they’ve added a likes screen and that the community has grown. On the other hand, I’ve only had 3 or 4 genuine conversations with my matches and have been unmatched/ghosted a lot, but that’s what happens on apps and what you get when you have a generation of very entitled women. Would be nice to have read receipts so I can tell if my match has seen my message. Overall the app works really well and maybe you’ll have better luck than me..XXWillbossXxVersion: 2.3.0
There’s some problemsI was really excited to come across this app since its really difficult to find Christians on dating apps. But I started noticing that the profiles sound similar and there’s A LOT of fake profiles with model looking pictures. Once you start talking to these people you can quickly see their words don’t match their pictures and they don’t write like someone from the US. Then they want to talk on Whatsapp…. if you are sitting in the US, you can just regular text. I’ve done Google reverse image on some of the profiles and sure enough….. the pictures actually belong to a model or influencer or something like that. There needs to be a way to verify the profiles and set up a way for someone to get enough information without leaving the app until you are ready to chat off the app. And possibly have a way to video or voice call or just send a video or send voice messages within the app. It’s not a really big deal for me but most of the matches are at least 100 miles away. Chatting online used to be fun and a way to meet people to talk to or build a relationship with but I feel like this is just another way to get disappointed on apps. And people are using this app to prey on Christians who are good hearted..Ally18470Version: 3.13.0
Almost thereThis is one of the better apps I’ve used, but it’s got a couple of glaring core issues.
First of all, the proximity of the button to swipe left, and the super-like button. I have fat fingered the super like button on people I had no interest in. A simple “are you sure?” popup notification would go miles towards improving the app, because I now take super likes way less seriously than I would otherwise because for all I know it was accidental. Why pay to see who liked me when it was probably an accident?
Second issue is the distance filtering. If someone lives 100 miles away from me, I should never be showing up on their feed, and I should have the option to hide myself from their feed. I have more likes from people out of state that people nearby I could feasibly meet. This is another factor that makes me say “heck no” to buying premium, because why would I pay to see a like from someone who is likely a 3 hour drive away?!? The distance sorting in preferences needs to be a dealbreaker, not a suggestion. Until then, I can’t justify paying money for this app and recommend others don’t either..That_MageVersion: 4.4.0
They’re on to something great!I think the app interface is simple and to the point which I love, I’m also someone who actually pays for “Elite”. One of the worst features is lack of location filter. It’s very frustrating when you’re reading a profile and you’re thinking “oh she seems like my type I would love to talk to her” only to find out that he’s 100+ miles away and you’re coming across way too many profiles of individuals who live 50+ miles away. This also leads to another issue because I’m noticing I’m spending more time than I would want to on the app because I come across maybe 5 profiles out of 20 who actually live in my area (I live in a metropolitan area). So outside of that I also wish there was a verification process like a photo to ensure you’re who you say you are. With that being said I think the developers are on to something great however after my current subscription end I’m not 100% sure I’m going to renew it because there’s another Christian dating app that apparently has a photo verification and location filter. I may just try it out after I’m done here however if you’re trying Upward for the first time I think you’ll enjoy it just keep in mind of the lack of location filter..Avm407Version: 2.2.0
Met the love of my life & married him 9 months later! ❤️I downloaded this app after looking at other online dating options. I honestly didn’t want to spend money on a subscription and I was hoping to find something for Christians. While I found there were a lot of guys on the app who were saying they were Christian without true faith and trust in Christ, I did actually chat with a handful of guys who seemed serious about their faith. When I started talking to my now-husband, we connected immediately and shared phone numbers. Two weeks later, we met in person. 4 months after that, he asked me to marry him! We have now been married for over a year and have a baby girl. We are grateful and feel so blessed that God used this app to bring us together.
About the app itself- I liked that it was simple, easy to use, and didn’t have especially lengthy bios. You only chatted with people who were also interested in you and it felt like you could pretty quickly and easily get a sense for if it could go somewhere with that person.
It worked for me, so I definitely have to recommend! ☺️.The Mrs FVersion: 3.5.0
Great Concept, Could Be Executed BetterIt would be great if FTH took a few more hints from other dating apps. Not only should distance filters be a bit better, but if someone likes you, the app should display them first so you can easily see who likes you and if you’re interested. Better that than occasionally seeing that someone has liked you but then swiping and swiping and never getting a match. Having a way to backtrack to the last person after an accidental swipe left would be super nice too. I love the concept because my faith is super important to me and I wouldn’t want to date someone who wasn’t a christian, but the whole app just feels a little clunky and hard to actually find matches on.
Update: reducing it from 3 stars to 2 stars after the app lost a match I had with the same girl twice in a row in a period of about fifteen minutes. Unbelievable. If the app can’t even remember who matched with whom, what’s even the point?
Update 2: dropping to 1 star after it did it a third time with the SAME girl in the course of another ten minutes. Y’all need to seriously work on your UI; it’s garbage.Revan2187Version: 2.0.4
I’m Glad I Swiped Right! The last two weeks of my life have been amazing! I was in a really low place in life, searching, wondering, hoping, and it seemed like there was no end in sight. One day I swiped on this incredible woman. I didn’t have any real hopes because I’d been rejected so much and I was used to putting in a ton of effort and not getting much response. The thing that struck me most about her at first was how much she talked. She didn’t send one line messages like a lot of girls, she sent long, comprehensive messages and asked questions and answered my questions. I led with theology and she pressed into that, rather than avoiding it. Our first date was a sporting event in the park and it was a huge success. The more I got to know her the more wonderful it became. Our theology aligned so well and she was so open to opening the Bible and being taught by me. Of course, that has more to do with the person I found than the app I found them on, but I’m extremely grateful Yahweh used this app to guide me towards such an amazing person. I already put a ring on it and hopefully soon family on the way!.Napoleon De FranceVersion: 4.16.0
Good luck getting verifiedI will change this review to a 5 in a heartbeat if I can get verified. I like the concept and I understand the concept but the truth of the matter is the verification process is atrocious!! I uploaded my profile picture the same day I tried to get verified and it won’t let me verified. I followed the steps to a T and it still tells me to “please try again you are not in the oval” so instinctively you would think you would need to reframe yourself to be in line with the requirements that it is asking you right? Yeah… but you are wrong! I then proceeded to keep trying until I got it right. Fast forward a few days lately and I have found a solution. A solution that I do not want… I decided to delete a previous photo I had on my profile picture and upload a new one from real time. I select “open camera” on the app and take a photo to make it my profile picture and then I try to re-verify my account and wala it works! However I do not want that selfie I just took as my profile picture… so I delete that photo and then proceed to upload the photo I just took a few days prior and then the most magical thing happens… I lose my verification.
Please help,
Thanks 🙏🏼.PennyqueefsVersion: 4.14.1
Surprisingly Not The WorstDating apps are awful, let’s be honest. However, I am surprised by Upward for the most part. The interface is simple, the quality of potentials are some of the best of all the apps, messaging is made simple when you do get a match. Now the cons…perhaps this is just me but the application itself has glitches/defects, for instance, I can change all my preferences and it continuously resets them or shows potentials that aren’t within the parameters of my preferences. Not the end of the world but for every 1 person that was in my area it showed 10 that were like 300+ miles away. On the likes/subscription side, I have heard multiple people say including myself that it will show you have X amount of likes, but no matter the swiping you do will never come across many of them, and that you have to pay for premium to ever see them. Frustrating to say the least. Overall verdict: easy to use/people are transparent about what they want/quality of potentials is great but the bugs/fixes and subscription definitely makes it frustrating..J.I.reviews.Version: 5.2.0
The good and the badIt’s a great platform, great idea, the features that they have in the profile are excellent, concise to the point. Love that they have a bio and a spot to share about faith.
That’s all good.
Here’s the bad:
Seems like people don’t get it. They give half-a answers, or just repeat themselves in both spaces. Maybe dating apps should come with tutorials on how to present oneself? Or like, here’s where you should be in maturity, emotional Development to function well on here. The people who occupy the space on this app, it’s rough. Like, just because it’s Christians doesn’t mean standards fly out the door… I nearly want to start a business in helping people create bios and choose photos. Those who have good profiles, don’t actually participate, it feels like there’s just good profiles you match with to keep you going. Just disheartening. Not the app creators fault. They’ve done wonderful advertising attractive men on the app to grab attractive women… but maybe they can market upward in all areas?
It almost feels like, “I’m Christian that should be good enough to grab your interest.”.MegownsVersion: 2.20.0
Fairly Solid For A “Christian” AppOf all the Christian apps I’ve downloaded I’d say this is the second best. It’s got a large user base and is user friendly. It’s basically just like any of the other dating apps that are out there which also partly makes me think it is designed and owned by one of the major players like tinder or bumble or someone. I say that because there’s filters like “I’m here for 1. Friends 2. Casual 😉 3. Dating 4. Marriage” and it’s asks you to list if you smoke weed and how often. Now obviously Christians smoke week and hook up (casual) with people but if you’re truly and God honoring Christian who loves Jesus and attends church weekly, you’re probably not creating an app with those questions. So… if you’re looking for a serious Christian, this app probably isn’t your top choice but there’s still a vast number of Christian singles on here so it may be worth your time. Compared to the other app I’m thinking of though this one isn’t close. The other one asks a lot of questions to start but is legit a Christian app for Christians who are serious about Jesus and dating with intention. This is just tinder with a more specific user base..Shortbanks00Version: 2.20.0
Upward Christian fellowship & datingThis app is great and helps Christians find “their Boaz or Ruth”. You sign up by giving your phone number and confirming the code. You click on the right-hand corner and can add your information as well as a picture. You're given various options to help you find your match faster. A lot of people are confused with Catholicism and born-again Christians. The matches are made by your personal preferences and distance. I keep seeing that many users are American and the distance is 250 most times. App developers if you see this please assist me in having matches based on my area, please..Mariananunes_Version: 4.16.0
C3I agree with Chrrisy@Elevation’s review. A lot of people on this app are confused between Catholicism and Christianity. Like there’s a huge difference and you can’t categorize a faith based relationship with God with someone who believes in a priest. You can clearly tell in their bio who is really christian and who’s not, but it’s so much work to have to filter through. It honestly just makes me question the people who made this app like do they even know the difference?? Also the distance thing like why is the radius so far?????.PretteepeggyVersion: 2.0.7
No reasonable filters? It’s really odd how you can’t really filter people by religion or radius. I don’t have the elite version, so it’s hard to tell if people are legit swiping right on me when I got like 300+ likes in the first couple of days. Without the elite version and without filters, you could be swiping all day which can be a big waste of time and a poor user experience. I appreciate what the app currently is as it has great potential, but it’s definitely a struggle for me when I would like to meet someone from a specific religion..Swoosh2skyVersion: 3.9.0
DistanceIs this only for people who live in the U.S?? Because I live in Quebec and everyone I bump into live over 200 miles away which makes it impossible to meet up.RiceeeeyyyyyVersion: 2.0.4
Happily ever after!I never would have thought I would have met the love of my life on a dating app. It was so hard to find someone with the same faith and morals while also being someone I could fall in love with. Upward helped me find the man of my dreams 1.5 hours away in December of 2021. We are now engaged and planning a wedding. So grateful to Upward in helping with my happily ever after!!.TiffanyivanVersion: 3.17.0
Glad it’s Christian-focused, but needs workI like the setup of the profiles, with a good mix of a photos, text, and prompts. I like the opportunity for each person to express what faith means to them, because that is something I’d like to be on the same page about.
The feed has been frustrating as it continues to show me profiles I have swiped “no” on, or worse, profiles I have previously matched with, then decided to unmatch with. Why is this not accounted for in the algorithm? I had a conversation with this person, maybe even dated them, and I/they/we decided it wasn’t the right fit. I met my ex on this app and we had a very painful breakup. Now I’m afraid I’ll come across his profile and be triggered by that!
If there are no more profiles to show me, then say so! You can recommend I change my filters so I can see more profiles.
As well, there are many Canadians on this app, so please give us the option to select if we want kilometres or miles for our radius. I have no concept of what 23 miles is..MusicGirlChelsVersion: 5.5.2

Upward: Christian Dating App Negative Reviews
Notifications are driving me nutsI’ll be honest I have not had a great on this app, some of it is my own stuff, but the app notification have been driving me nuts. I personally don’t have a ton of apps I let give me notifications anymore, but I let this one because I want to be able to get notifications for messages. I don’t have any social media so this app is the only way to communicate unless we exchange phone numbers, which I don’t always feel comfortable. I know other people don’t right away either. I get a notification to start swiping seemingly every few hours. I understand that this is how these apps work, but it’s a little annoying. I decided to pay for 3 months of premium so I could see who the likes are coming from. It seems to me like they push your profile to get a bunch of likes prior to paying for premium or whatever to see who it is. As soon as I payed for the app the likes went down to one every week or so. I might not be the kind of person that gets a lot of likes anyways but it was weird it went from 8 in the first week, then down to maybe 1 a week after I payed.
The thing that drives me the most nuts is what I can only call the phantom like. It’s only happened 2 or 3 times since I started using the app. The app notifies me I got a like, but when I go to the app to check out the profile there isn’t a like. It’s great way to get me to open the app, but whatever. Idk, if it’s a glitch or what, but seems kinda fishy to me..GuitarmanNoahVersion: 3.13.0
Ahh, another pay-to-play Christian opportunityI’ll have likes, turn my distance up to unlimited and age(I’m 21), spam like everyone to test the theory, and will never get any matches despite the “9+\21” available. I’ve reached my “daily limit” every day for the last month and still have not matched with anyone nor the likes I have. I’ve also noticed that unlike other Christian Dating Apps, this app won’t remove a pending match if you don’t like their profile. This is misleading and further demonstrates their ambition to confuse you/manipulate you into buying their subscription, just to reveal most of those potential matches were on people you already swiped left on. They also show matches you unmatched with back in the pool of people to restart the whole process which is absurd. I or whoever unmatched for a reason, I don’t want to have to see their profile again.
Very pay to play, the company has no Christian basis aside from trying to market an app TO Christians, and the app makes you pay for everything extra with some manipulative tactics in between if you don’t. I.E. Timer, not removing disliked profiles from “Likes” list, showing people you unmatched with back in the pool of people to swipe on, tries to get you to buy “super likes” on certain profiles where they have more likes to “incentivize”/manipulate you into feeling it’ll make any difference to the person you’re sending it to(it never does because your super like shows a regular like), and more..JonathanClackVersion: 4.14.1
WAS the best… Now just subpar.Upward was my go-to dating app when I first joined in March of 2021! Today, however, wow. Just wow; lost it touch. I am writing this review because of my most recent experience. I matched with an individual, sent them a message later in the day, received a reply with a notification the next day… Within a minute of receiving the notification, I see the same individual I had previously matched with (that same individual that was also in the notification that I received stating they had replied) pop up in my swipes AND had the prompt of “Send a Super Like to A**** instead to increase your chances of a match”. Yet, we HAD already matched and sent each other a message ALREADY/moments before!!!!! Complete bonkers, if you ask me.
This has in fact happened before and I did reach out to support then but was told the other person must have unmatched me. So, since I saw the notification was from “1 minute ago”, the little voice in my head said to open it and see what was said. Yet here comes Upward the cockblocker and said nope, spend money to match with this person, AGAIN!!
Like I originally stated, Upward was great and to be geared to other like-minded Godly people is definitely a plus! However, this glitch is very frustrating and most likely I will not be getting back on, nor will I be recommending it to my pals anymore..Chile SmilesVersion: 4.10.0
It’s a great app, for what it’s worth. This is my second time on a Christian dating app, and it has been a great experience, but there are problems. One, the preferred distance filter is broken. No matter how many times you set it, it automatically filters matches in that are 1500+ miles away. Now, their suggestion would be to block these profiles, however, blocking counts as a swipe, and swipes are limited (as any app has limits). It’s daunting to have to swipe through so many profiles only for you to run out because none were close by.
Two, the subscription service isn’t worth it. I paid for the week long subscription to get a feel for it and to get through my likes faster. It would be nice if there were other features that made the subscription worth it, like being able to view profiles inside the chat rooms and deciding if you want to like and message them. All in all, compared to other apps Upward is definitely one that is more broad and out there, for example, Holy is more modest than Upward is because it’s simple and they restrict what can go on your profile. Whereas, Upward is a little more lenient. I’d still recommend this app to anyone, but I do wish there was more to offer. Some things I think could make the subscription service better is the ability to use more than 3 filters and the ability to use a “travel mode”..Pineapplelogic73Version: 4.17.0
SuggestionsCould upward maybe add a feature that tells us when people were last on there profile? I feel like part of the problem of having no luck is we send likes to inactive profiles. The more mainstream dating apps tell you when the person last logged in so you know if it’s inactive and don’t waste your time liking them. Also can you put the town the person actually lives in and not where they are at the moment? I’ve had profiles that said they are only ten miles away but it turns out they live on the other side of the country or vice versa it says they are over a hundred miles away but they actually live much closer. And please stop recycling profiles. When I swipe left on someone they shouldn’t show back up in the list ten minutes later. I get you have limited members but come on. And please for the love of God get rid of the casual😉 option. There are way too many “Christian” men that just want to have sex and this goes against the word of God and shouldn’t be on a Christian dating app.
Ps please stop with the ghost notifications. I get a notification that I got a like so I go on the app and I have no new likes. It feels scammy like they are trying to make you open the app. I don’t think it’s just a glitch as it happens several times a day and other users have said the same thing.Screw facebook96Version: 4.10.0
Got my hopes up… Another disappointmentI’ve been on this app less than a day. I’ll come back later to write an updated review. So , far, however, it looks like all of the negative reviews are correct, unfortunately. This app is full of bots and shady profiles. In less than 24 hours I’ve had three matches. One was obviously a bot, one I haven’t reached out to yet, and one asked me to meet almost immediately (which is fine), but he insisted that I go to his place for the first meeting and unmatched when I suggested a public meeting first. I think that was a real person but I got a very bad vibe out of it, like there may have been something worse going on there that could seriously jeopardize someone’s safety. Be very cautious when using this app, even more so than you would any of the rest of them. I think I’ve figured out how to spot these fake profiles (their “faith” section is very vague, for one), so we’ll see.
That said, as a Christian/Conservative in a Leftist city, it’s a nightmare trying to find a match on the mainstream dating apps like Bumble, Hinge, etc. I swipe right maybe 1 out of 500 times because most of the people on those apps are the Atheist/Liberal types or they are looking for hookups and polyamory. I’ll try this app out a little while longer, but am very disappointed. They just need to add a way to verify profiles..NormanBates1215Version: 3.2.0
NOT SAFEI kept seeing the Upward advertisement on Instagram and was intrigued at the fact that it was Christian based. Once I decided to go ahead and give the app a try, I was extremely excited!I had been in chat rooms when I was like in high school, but I’ve never done a dating app or dating site. So I was looking forward to trying something different and new and upward seemed pretty popular on Instagram. I don’t know what the screening process is for this sites security but I was immediately catfished by the 2nd or 3rd person I spoke to. I’m typically very cautious but he was extremely convincing, I also trusted the app because of its “Christian” focus. But that meant nothing, they are all kinds of people on the app, and just because they joined a Christian dating app doesn’t mean they are. There’s this random stranger somewhere who knows my name and has my photo, they lied and I have absolutely no idea who I was talking to for weeks. I felt stupid, I felt violated, and at the thought of this person possibly having my info, I felt really afraid and have lost sleep over this. So I will suggest to any single seeking, stick to the legitimate dating apps with a more rigorous sign up process, but better security. These rinky-dink Instagram advertisement dating apps are honestly not worth the trouble. And to go with the legitimate dating websites that have credible reviews, the monthly fee is worth your peace of mind I promise!.AllypriVersion: 3.15.0
LukeWarmI love you but I hate you, no distance filter = all my time and efforts for a long distance relationship. I guess the least i could do is pray for them. Oh, and I cant even go back if i swiped left on accident? So what do I do? Restart my account?! And if it’s telling me someone likes me, hook a bother up?! & put that person in my list of swipes... Or tell me who it is at least. I have faith in the dark for Jesus not your dating app. Lol add super likes maybe? Instant like and people will immediately be aware of who it is? And to go back on swipes should be a must! I feel like i lost the love of my life. She couldve been someone that liked me! This bothers me a lot. Also please add a filter of which denomination we prefer. If this werent an issue, we all wouldnt be attending different churches lol. PERSON AUTHENTICATOR! Please! For all the fake catfish accounts! The idea of your app. Is great, but seriously, no offense... it clearly wasnt thought through. Let’s be real... It reminds me of a college assignment i held off till last minute and just did ENOUGH to pass. So please, as a teacher... take this assignment back! And bring me back your best! Disrespected from their customer serviceLike many others I was excited to take dating serious and find someone that matched my religious level. I made my account, added 5 fun photos of me - family, an army picture, cycling, and one with my cat, added my prompts to show my personality, I kept it all fun and PG. One hour later I get back on the app and my account is disabled. I email the customer support team thinking that this could be a mistake and I get an email back saying I emailed the wrong department when they provided me the link to begin with. After they forwarded my polite email asking them why I was disabled, Then I get another email saying “ we cannot disclose specifics about any member account, including your own. Any new accounts created will be subject to review and will be immediately terminated. ” Not only can I know what I did wrong, but now I cannot recreate my profile to resolve any issues. I read through the terms and services and the only assumption is that a photo was deemed “offensive or to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person”. The only possible photo I can assume was me in my military uniform which is my JOB. I’m very disappointed that a Christian based dating app will not help me resolve this unknown issue. Very discouraging and downright disrespectful in my eyes. I guess I’ll have to look elsewhere for Christian based dating..Really now?!Version: 4.8.0
Don’t waste your $$, full of scammersI give this dating app negative 5 stars. Save your money this app is full of fake / scammer profile. I’ve been on the app for a couple months now. And out of all the matches there was one guy who was who he said he was. Everyone on here seems to have the same story” deceased” wife, parents, etc. Are in service or serving and about to be deployed. They charm and use Christian jargon, almost always ask right away to go outside the app to chat, like WhatsApp or google chat. I have reached out in email have reported fake / double profiles and have not heard a peep from the anyone. It’s sad that they are using this as a Christian dating app. So false! This one guy after chatting with for like two weeks, starts with a message about how “bad of a day he has had “his aunt has been in a car accident and is locked out of his account.” He need help having a packed delivered to the states and can he use my email address to send me a tracking number so I can follow the package, in it would be expensive jewelry and shoes and watches and he was going to be “transferred 20,000 dollars”… needless to say I didn’t give it any more attention and reported him right away. But if you made it this far in my review please do your research this app needs a verification system to keep all these scammers off the app. Just keep your money..Chris143$Version: 3.19.0
This ruins an otherwise great app.The desired distance slider does not function. If you select your distance and run out of profiles to see the app will ask once (and for all eternity) if you would like to see profiles outside of your desired distance. This could be a great feature for some users. However, there is no option to stop seeing these profiles once you have allowed it to look beyond your set distance. The desired distance selector becomes a nifty charm in your settings tab that does absolutely nothing in perpetuity. If a developer does reach out to reply, I would like this to be known I have read responses to reviews similar to mine (low starred for problems with distance) where a representative will explain that in an effort to continue to show you profiles it will “gradually” increase distance. I am aware and understand this. I am also aware the slider says something about showing profiles before your picks. This is not my issue. My issue is that I have no option but to see profiles 500 miles away no matter what it says on the slider. What I would recommend if I may is removing the distance setting altogether once you begin showing profiles beyond 60 miles (your highest available mileage below maximum distance)or allow users to revert back to only seeing profiles within their desired distance..Collinkb97Version: 4.0.0
Badly needs distance, height, and education filters.I wanted to like this app because dating as a Christian woman in your late twenties is hard y’all. Unfortunately, this app does not do it for me. I bought the premium version thinking it would have more features and save me time, but all of the important filters for me (distance, height, education) aren’t options! The app shows you people who are 150 miles away without letting you filter down the distance. How is that practically supposed to work? Also I don’t care who thinks it’s shallow, height is incredibly important! I’m 5’11” and it is uncomfortable for me to date someone who is shorter than me, and it’s uncomfortable for them too! If God wanted me to marry a short man, he would have made me a short woman! I put my height in my bio so that men can know how tall I am, but this really should be a filter because no one needs to waste their time flipping through profiles of people they are physically incompatible with or guessing how tall they are. Finally, being able to filter for education is also incredibly important! This goes back to basic compatibility, people with similar education levels are more compatible. Yes it’s possible to guess someone’s intelligence from their profile, but please save us time and improve your app by making this a filter. Why does this app have such high ratings? Who is this even working for???.AllieeeembVersion: 2.5.0
Disappointed 👎🏽So I gave this app a try for a year after seeing it advertised on Snapchat. As a Christian and someone who has been in the online dating business for awhile, I was excited trying Upward as it was advertised as “A Christian Dating Website.” Well not only I met my toxic ex on here and wasted 8 months of my life thinking he was the one turns out he had a dark past and an addiction, I also wasted more time coming back on here for another few months getting my time wasted by “Christian Men” who only wanted to have sex with me, don’t reply back, and just take advantage of me because they know I’m a good woman. Upward, what I have experienced as a user this whole year is not Christian like and you guys should consider doing background checks, verify the user is who they say they are, and should NOT have a casual selection as that is very hypocritical and is against Christian beliefs. I don’t even want to start on how my matches are too far out from me and I have gave you guys money after money and remained loyal the whole year thinking I was going to find someone. I even had been a loyal customer to the point I trusted you guy to the point when I deleted my account a few times I came back, never again this app is garbage and has been thrown together last minute I bet like las minute studying for a finals, yuck 🤢.Nthomas2000Version: 3.6.0
It’s AlrightI’ve met some people solid Christians on this app, even if most of that are fairly distant from me geographically speaking. However, there’s a couple of key annoyances. First, the number of people who have already liked me never drops, and I can (and have) swiped in excess of 400 people on one sitting. Still 99+. Second (and this combines with the first one), it will repeatedly (and randomly) revert to my general geographic area, showing me the same faces I have seen countless times. If I swiped away on someone, I generally did that with intent. I don’t want to have to swipe past everyone again, and again, and again so that I can finally encounter those people who purportedly already liked me. Finally, excessive notifications (“WWJD? Prolly start swiping for singles” - yeah ... probably not. Ditch that notification). I appreciate it for what it is. Technically speaking, I’m not very impressed. Subscriptions are overly expensive, and (unlike Hinge) undos are behind a paywall. Could be worse, but could certainly be better. Edit: I bit the bullet and got a subscription, just to confirm my suspicions. The majority of the people who had already “liked” me were people that I recognized as having swiped away. App is poorly developed.
Edit: advertisements for alcohol now..JeofijeifiisijfjVersion: 2.20.0
Confused and upsetI never write reviews, but I am so upset by this app. I got this app a few days ago, like today is the 4th day. Everything was great and I was really enjoying the experience with it. Had good matches and actually had guys texting and interacting which was not the case on the first app I tried. So I was in the middle of a conversation with a guy and my phone went to sleep and when I went to check my messages again my app logged out. I went to log back in and it’s saying my account is disabled! I have not violated any community standards, my pics and profile was all appropriate. Even if something was wrong the app doesn’t give you any warning and there is no response from customer service. There is no phone number and no reply’s come from the emails. I have sent many emails now because I paid money for this app and I have not done anything wrong so I would like to know why I cannot access my account. This is supposed to be for Christians but that seems really shady! I’m really disappointed especially since I had a great first day and 1/2. I would have given a 5 star if this was corrected but I’ve read another review where this happened and Upward would not give a reason and banned him permanently. So I am assuming that will happen to me, which is not fair especially not even giving a reason why you’re banned. 😠.Adele_DVersion: 2.3.0
Started ok but keeps getting worse…It’s basically a Christian Tinder…often with more of the Tinder aspects than would be good. You do meet some people but there really isn’t enough of a user base so quickly users are from 150+ miles away. After about a week of minimal swiping you’ll get back to square one being shown the same people again. You can tell it to only show you people in a range but they never adhere to that range. They force you to accept seeing people outside of that distance. There is no definite block to only see people in an area. They also weirdly don’t show people closest first. It’s completely random orders. The notifications have to be the worst part…half the notifications are just trying to get you back to the app literally…”(insert catchy phrase to get you back to swiping)” that’s not a filler that’s nearly word for word what some notifications say. One or two times it’s funny but regularly multiple times a day those and worse notifs get annoying. They also often will send out fake matches and likes and liked numbers. In the see who likes you paid part it’s shown me a number then I’d go into it and it’s at least 10-20% lower number usually. Then occasionally there’s a “You have a Match with ****!” Or “Somebody new likes you!” and there’s nothing there..DylanR2015Version: 3.17.0
Full of False Profiles and Scam ArtistsI reported or deleted almost 10 in one day. The first guy I chatted with had at least two different profiles. I kept going and every one I matched with was a false profile. They have believable stories at first glance. Then they want you to communicate with them on their international WhatsApp. When you ask them why do you need WhatsApp if you are in the states they say theirs cell phone is somehow not working, or they use WhatsApp for Work.
I have a Christian friend who has been caught up in this scam from Upward for half a year. The guy says he is in Germany and he used to live in this area and he is returning, but he never does. There’s always something that prevents him from moving back to the states. The scammers are familiar with a lot of Christian jargon.
The last one I talked sounded real and when I mentioned the scammers he got real nasty and said I was a false prophetess and continued to say ugly things. Before that he was an educated successful Widow. Oh yes, they most often say they are widows. They may say they have a child too. It depends on the age. I have heard nothing back about the reports and I also have not heard back from customer service when I reported this problem! 😡 Is not use this app if I were you. I already paid and can not get my money back!.Surounded by WolvesVersion: 3.9.0
DisappointingI used this app for years and have never had a date. It’s not that I’m not appealing, because I turn heads. It just happens that I have 50+ likes, rarely any matches when I swipe daily, and have to dig in my pocket to see what the like options are. And large chunk of the options I see and match with are 75+ miles away. Last time I paid to see likes, it was a bunch of tragically unattractive and overweight women miles and miles away. If I’m going to lower my standards, I don’t plan to drive 80 miles, too. If I set my preferences to 20-30 miles away, why am I constantly getting options triple or quadruple the distance away from my preferences?
I do not want a long distance relationship. I have zero interest in being anybody’s pen pal. I see you in person or not at all. So, if I am see people miles and miles away, other people are, too. I am not willing to pay your membership and subscription just so I can see people who liked me that are so far away from me, I scratch my head as to how they even saw me.
The distance preference needs to mean something. I do not want to see them and honestly they shouldn’t see me. If I’m going to pay to see who likes me, then I don’t want to see anyone outside of my range..AntuanvanceVersion: 4.4.0
My account was disabled within 15 minutesSo I made an account and I was using it for first time for 15 minutes, with in trying to get my account set up it all of A sudden it logs me out right when I was adjusting the distance. Was it because I was a Christian creator on tiktok or did someone report me as a spam account because I wasn’t. Idk why it said it was disabled because I didnt violate and guidelines. And i know im not the only one who got there account disabled for no reason. And when it says it was disabled it doesn’t say why. And again I would never do anything that would violate the terms and conditions. Please fix this bug. Never using this app again, oh wait I cant always because I’m banned for no reason.
Update: after reading so many of the reviews,
Of people saying that there is so many people that are spam accounts and fake accounts there was probably someone that reported my account thinking it was fake. Also please consider taking the distance off profiles because when someone sees that it makes it easy for some to stalk people. And what do I take out of this, maby GOD did not want me on this app, so thank you for deleting it because honestly I would of probably deleted it the next day. Be carful and to say this was my first time using a dating and and never will again..Helloitsme3265Version: 2.16.0
VERY FRUSTRATING!I signed up for the most expensive elite level and they still limit the things we can do like only allowed 3 preferences in things we want from a person. STUPID. The worst is it’s SUPER easy to swipe away a person you really like when you are trying to scroll their photos. It’s happening to me all day today and there’s no way to go back. That’s idiots design flaw number 3 , I don’t have unlimited go backs even though I pay a lot of money. They block go backs for sale me stupid unknown reason. There’s also no place to go to ask questions or get answers to these kinds of common problems. I’m already tempted to go elsewhere. ALSO, you can’t search by location or anything else really. I’m just stuck scrolling through who they send me. I don’t date Catholics for example, and there’s no way to weed them out. I should be able to choose race , state , denomination or anything else and search by state if I wanted. So far this is a very weak app!! There’s a few interesting people. A lot seam like fake Christians but I guess that’s gonna be everywhere. I hope they listen to the complaints and improve. It’s not really worth the money so far. But I have to give it a full month before I decide to cancel..FreddieReyVersion: 3.15.0
This App Changed for the WorseProbably over a year ago, I remember Upward working like it was supposed to. Now, despite having plenty of “likes” showing up in the counter at the top of the screen, and the app showing me a little thumbnail preview of the girls I could match with right away “if I would just buy premium”, I literally never see those girls in my cards, and I get no matches at all. Apparently I even have a couple “super-likes” waiting on me. I should be able to see those profiles in my cards pretty quick, right? Well, after hundreds of swipes, still no luck. This makes literally no sense when back when I first used this app, matches were simple — the people who liked you would show up in your cards and vice versa. Not so, now. This is either an app-breaking bug or just blatant greed on the developers’ part to get people to buy premium. The latter seems more likely to me now, since every other swipe, they’re trying to get me to pay for extra super likes. This app used to be decent. Basic, and pretty surface level for a Christian dating app (I’m pretty convinced the developers aren’t Christians) but at least it worked. Everything is about money for them now. Really bad taste in my mouth from this app. Don’t think I’ll be using again..Samskip13Version: 3.19.0
Is it really Christian?I’ve only been on for a few days and already have people flat out admit that they aren’t Christian and there are others on the app from different religions. They just list as “Other” and in reality are Hindu or even just “Spiritual”. If I was okay with that, I would have used a different app. I expect Christians to be using it not the general population. I was not expecting many matches (if any) as I’m not the best looking (weight-wise), but definitely experienced the “shopping” that other reviewers had talked about - lots of likes but when matched there is no follow up. I’m pretty sure they just looked at the first pic and swiped. Also the Elite purchase is not worth it, I’m totally regretting it two days in. I liked the idea of seeing who matched with me because I don’t want to offend people by liking them while looking the way I do, but there is no way to filter it. I’m not interested in dating men that are up to 10 years my junior or 10+ years my senior. Or people who already have kids (unless a widower). I might give it a few more days but I’m not hopeful and it seems to be money wasted. I know what I’d need in a relationship and not going to settle for just anyone who is okay with my looks..Mara WolffeVersion: 3.11.0
Filled with fake profiles. Terrible customer service.I want to love this app. But it’s filled with fake profiles and catfishing scammers. My account was disabled for no apparent reason, and when I emailed customer service they told me I would hear back within 24 to 48 hours. It’s been nearly 3 weeks and I’ve heard nothing. I called and was told to just keep waiting, and was given no timeline. If I ran a business this way, I’d be out of business.
Update June 12: The developer commented on this review with an apology, but no solutions. I haven’t violated any conditions and was told by customer service not to contact them again or I may annoy them (I called one time and emailed three times because there was no response to any emails - only an initial response email that said they would be in touch - but they haven’t been in touch.) It’s been over a month and there’s been no response or explanation from customer service - they say “just keep waiting.”
The irony here is this app is loaded with scammers and they’re blocking the accounts of people who have legitimate accounts and are paying real money. From reading other reviews, I see I’m not alone here. It’s one thing to make a mistake, but it’s another to not do anything to fix this mistake..KiterideVersion: 3.12.0
Honest Review you all will quickly agreeThis app is not useful. Sorry developers its just not. You set your distance preference to with 60 miles from you and 98% of the profiles you are shown are outside of your distance preference range. Most religious people I know aren’t interested in leaving their church or family and friends. So why on earth would you show a user a profile of someone 200, 100, 90 miles away from them. They say under the distance selection they show their expert picks for you after your preferred distance range profile but no. I’ll see a profile of someone who lives 35 mike from me. Than the next 50 profiles will be people who are all out side my preferred distance range. Why are “experts” picking profile with long distance ranges ? When long distance relationships are the least likely to work. After a few days I realized how much time I was wasting swiping no on these senseless grouping of profiles. If the profiles don’t start to make sense I’m deleting Sunday. EVERY dating app allows you to select a distance range and just see profiles from that range. SMH this was useless experience. No need to even discuss the rest because the bare minimum for this app to be useful was a huge miss.Adores boutiqueVersion: 5.5.2
Pretty clunkyUsed for about 4 months. The actual mechanics of using the app are pretty clunky-you have to swipe through each individual picture of a person or you can skip to their info and bio at the bottom. Sometimes I can see info and bio with the pictures but more often I can’t. Compared to other apps where pictures and text are often mixed together on one page, this mechanic is cumbersome. Also, the matching process is not great, at least if you don’t pay. I was told that I had over 40 likes, but I only ever saw 2 of them, and only 1 person out of dozens that I liked matched with me. The other apps I use, which I also haven’t payed for, do a much better job of putting people who have liked me into my feed. Another problem is that some people will show up in your feed multiple times after you have disliked them. As many other reviews mention, the distance filter is pretty hit or miss. I live in a major metropolitan area and I still get options over 50 miles away maybe 1 out of every 5 choices. The tipping point for me was that I chose to hide my profile because I was traveling and was not able to turn it back on..JAL1513Version: 3.8.0
FrustratingThis app went from annoying to extremely annoying after the update. The amount of unnecessary and unwanted prompts is unbelievable. I can’t imagine what the notifications are like I turned that off a while ago. The amount of compromise from the creators of the app makes me question if they have any Christian values themselves at all. Netflix and chill stickers on a Christian dating app? Really? Also, I understand the desire to make money off of an app you’ve created there’s nothing wrong with that, but greed has definitely taken over. They continue to remove more and more free features and lock them behind a paywall. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tweaked the algorithm to make sure you don’t see people that have liked you unless you pay. It’s a shame because this app definitely has potential. What can I expect though, they always end up being the same. The love of money is the root of all evil and this app is proving that to be true..MeshgordonVersion: 3.17.0
DistanceI think the app is a great idea and concept but it constantly gives me people over 100 miles away, I’m from canada, I put within 60 miles of me and I constantly get up to 350 miles away and usually only get above 90 miles. Please fix it.Hjbc fubcnVersion: 4.7.0
Full of scammersI have never interacted with more scammers in my life than on this app. Having more profile requirements might be helpful, but overall it’s just not very good in Canada..HeckinnoformeVersion: 3.19.0

Money focusedSeems like paying for a subscription is not enough, now I need to pay to see likes. Just a sly way to milk you a bit more to beware. There should be one subscription price so it’s not complicated. Also, obviously this company is not Christian, because they think catholics are the same as everyone else. There’s a huge difference. Also I can’t even filter out the catholics, which gets annoying. To make things worse, many times I swipe up to see more pictures it sends a like instead because it’s too sensitive. Finally, it is beyond me why they limit the filter to only three criteria. I need at least 4 to 5 minimum. Perhaps it’s to force people to see other people, but it only clutters the list. You’re not gonna force me to see other people I don’t want to. Speaks volumes for the type of people who build this app.
Update: Bad accountability. Why do you delete the conversation when a person leaves? Spammers just leave and then there’s no way to report them. It’s getting quite tiring..BuddywhatshisnameVersion: 3.13.0
DistanceI think there's a problem with filter.I don't get matches within my area. Often time I get far from my areas from 250 miles , 300 miles to 700 miles. Have tried to change filter still isn't working. Because of this I give 1 star Fix this.Gil0890Version: 3.12.0
Took all my info and then disabled my accountAbsolutely terrible service and more than likely a scam. I set up my account and uploaded all my personal information in an hour later went to login again and my account has been disabled.??? I’ve written three times to their current customer support with nothing. Their phone number doesn’t work. Definitely a scam and I’m going to report them. Do not use this app..RoatanManVersion: 3.12.0
Poor security with 0 customer serviceHijacked accounts aplenty. My account got hacked and I couldn’t access my account to delete my data.
Tried calling customer service but only got an automated response with no working hours.
I’d suggest using more established apps with tighter security and people who actually pick up the phone👎.Doppl_rVersion: 3.12.0
This app has potentialI’m a Canadian using this app. My first complaint is the swiping left and right. Sometimes, I’m just trying to swipe up and look through a person’s pictures, and the swipes left or right on the person (and if you don’t have the premium account, you can undo what you did).
Second issue is if you’re in Canada, you’re not going to find a lot of people near you. So far, 15% of guys on here (or less) are actually in Canada. Except you don’t mind long distance.
My last complaint is the price of the premium upgrade. BEWARE, THE PRICE IS IN USD. I thought it said $30 but I ended up paying almost $50, so keep that in mind..INOresegunVersion: 3.1.0
HackedOnly rated the app 2 stars instead of 1 since I enjoyed the interface. The actual app itself is riddled with catfish/bots I’ve run into many in a short few weeks. My account got hacked sometime around 11 pm today I only noticed it when I got a notification saying that I had a new like on my profile (which is rare) so I looked and when I saw that a man liked my post I was kinda taken back. Then I went to my profile and saw that someone changed all my photos and my gender to female, I wanted to delete my profile but I payed for a subscription so it won’t allow me to delete my current account😩..DrumperssssVersion: 2.22.2
Limited optionsMy biggest peeve is the lack of a distance filter. I’m at the point where I’m getting suggestions for people >250miles away 😩😩 Like that’s ever going to happen.. will probably delete soon.Dar10uVersion: 2.0.15

UnorganizedI keep seeing Catholic and Islamic beliefs on here.. or even atheists. Do these people not know what Christianity is or who this app is geared to?! Also, need geographical parameters; over 80% of the people I see are American I’d say..JuleswpVersion: 2.0.14

Ecumenical hot messThe majority of users on here are not true Christian believers. This app is frustratingThere is no way the creators of this have a strong faith. If any at all. Just a desire for deep pockets.

Going downhillYou used to be able to match with people for free, now they take the ones who like you and put them behind a paywall. There is no functionality of the app without paying an insane amount of money. Don’t pay=can’t match..Corsair EuropeVersion: 5.1.0
ReviewOne of the issues I experience is the same accounts appearing over again after already swiping left. Also there aren’t much options in my geographical location. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s more Americans then Canadians on the app or because of the app settings..Balleralert777Version: 5.1.0

Kinda cringeySend wayyyy too many meaningless, cringey notifications. “Sunday Funday”?? No. Sunday Lord’s Day.
Also would be nice to know location not just “86 miles away”. Not helpful.
And stop asking me to pay to see my likes every 5 swipes.
Decent number of people on the app though..CalebR1Version: 5.0.0
Money Grubbing AppThe entire purpose of the app is to make the devs money. They have nonstop micro transactions without remorse. I doubt true genuine born again Christians made this app. As every aspect of it is designed to get you to pay up.
You will swipe yes or no on the same people over and over again after using the app for a long time.
The reality is Catholics are not Christians, Neither are any other group that denies the Bible and denies Christ. So there aren’t many actual Christian women on here or men for that matter i assume.
When you do match with a woman, its often people who are word of faith or dont share the same values. Again the app is designed to take your money in any possible way. Not designed to actually gender a quality match..PlasticTheBagVersion: 4.18.0
Paywall? Really?Reading the reviews from other people I figured I’d give this a try.
The process to sign up was simple enough, but you pretty much get stuck there after that. The radius is crazy high so every potential match is hundreds of miles away (a KM function for the Canadians would be nice). Not to mention the paywall that locks your matches away so you can’t see people who are interested in you. The only hope you have is if you somehow miraculously manage to like the profile of someone who’s already liked you first. Isn’t the point of an app like this to enable people to meet each other? Having to pay for all these features defeats the purpose for me..CHKNRSVersion: 4.16.0
False notifications/Missing messagesI keep getting notifications of matches and messages, but when I check the app, there are no new matches, or new messages..MichaelastricklandVersion: 4.16.0
Can’t see any profilesThe app just got updated and now when I go to the main page to view anyone’s profile it just says “Thank you for looking. We are brand new and growing fast. Come back later to see more christian singles.” What is up with that? I do basically anything on the app except message people I have previously matched with. I can’t make new matches. :(.Stephany 4Version: 4.15.0
Doesn’t workI set my distance and denomination preference to Baptist and within 20 miles. I’m in Canada and am being shown people in Rochester NY 150 miles away who are not baptists. What a waste of time. I may develop my own dating app. I will change this review if they make the app better. To the developers: there’s an app called Reddit. Go there and see how disappointed everyone is with upward and take notes. All the best.VlonderboddenVersion: 4.14.1
Premium service is sub-standardBought “Elite” on Upward ( premium service) and I can’t change any of the preferences to have them come up in the swiping que. I’d like to zone in on a certain denomination but it isn’t providing that at all. Might as well not pay, save 40$ ( also very high price) cause your not gonna get the benefits you want..ServantOfTheThroneVersion: 4.14.0
Do not join! This app is not worth it. Most of the profiles are fake. I got disabled for reporting bad people. And I was a paying customer with a 6 month élite subscription. And if you need assistance and email them they don’t respond right away if at all. Upward dating app doesn’t care whether you pay or not they just take your personal information and use it to sell it..Jeprd3Version: 4.13.1
What the heck !I got the app less than a week ago and figured I would try my first month with the subscription however for some reason my account got reported and they took my money however there was no way for me to contact them about either getting my money back or getting my account back since I only got to use the app for 2 days after paying 40$ CAD … super annoyed right now ..GraceychamberrrrrsVersion: 4.10.0

Don’t BotherDon’t waste your time with this app. It’s a scam that targets honest, trusting people who will pay up to try to find someone decent. But $99 for six months? That’s ridiculous! The free version basically allows you to just set up your profile, and swipe left or right, but if you want to see anyone’s profile who has matched with you/likes you you have to pay. And there’s no other way of messaging them unless you pay up. Also, why can’t I change what age range I’m seeking, and the distance/location is way off. Save yourself the trouble and don’t even bother. You might as well go meet someone the good old fashion way.AndieAllieVersion: 4.8.0

Last update was bad.First of all, we should have the option to filter out Mormons and Catholics and other non Christian religions.
Secondly, I’ve had this app for a few months and it was working flawlessly before; however, after the last update it became very glitchy. When I’m listening to a podcast or music while swiping it will glitch out and my music will pause. I then have to go hit play and continue swiping. Two or three swipes later it’ll happen again. My usage of this app has diminished significantly. Please fix this. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it did not work..LetkjVersion: 4.5.0
