For centuries, philosophers and mathematicians have gazed up at the night sky and wondered:

"Is there Golf On Mars?"

The year is 2866. Mars is 35% terraformed, finally enough to allow the playing of the game of.. Golf!

Golf across an infinite* rocky Martian surface. Discover golfing obstacles that make us Earthlings gasp in awe!

---

*Infinity is impossible to represent on any non-quantum computer. In actuality there are roughly 25,770,000,000 golf holes in this game.

In 2020, NASA will launch the Perseverance rover to search for life and golf on Mars. The journey there will take 200 days,
If you were to play one hole of Golf On Mars every 30 seconds during that journey, you would only be able to complete 0.002% of the game (576000 holes).

If you were a paleolithic hunter-gatherer gazing up at the Red planet one night during your traversal of the ice bridge connecting Russia to Alaska
at the last glacial maximum 24515 years ago and a time traveler brought an iPhone for you and your tribe to ritually play a hole of Golf On Mars every 30 seconds,
it would take until the present day to complete all the holes.

But this is not a realistic simulation.

For example, if the ball is 16 pixels wide on your screen then the typical hole will be 1200 pixels away.
Scaling this to the size of a real ball (1.68 inches), it's as if the hole is only 3.5 yards away!

A realistic 18 hole golf course where the fairways are 3.5 yards away would only require about 1300 square feet of land.
However, gravity on Mars is 38% that of Earth's gravity, so you could hit a ball 7 times farther, or roughly 1400 yards for a good player.
This 18 hole course then needs to be to 64000 square feet. You could cover the entire surface of Mars with 241 billion of these golf courses.

Therefore, you could easily fit all the holes in Golf On Mars on the surface of Mars.

Mars is par 3, so aim to finish in under 77 billion strokes.

Golf On Mars Positive Reviews

Amazing Game, but I have some ideas…I have enjoyed this game more than I expected. I’m on hole #740 and still going. My only issue with the game are the impossible holes. Sure you can probably reach them , but it takes so many tries most times that you hit the 25th try and you just end up skipping the hole entirely. I think there should be a mechanic that adds gravity to certain holes. Maybe a power-up that makes the ball heavier and another that does the opposite. It’d also be nice to use all the points you gain from all the shots you make, and turning it into a system that you can maybe by a different color ball or maybe a trail that comes in different colors after hitting the ball, or use the aforementioned Power-Up idea and have the ability to buy power ups for the “impossible” holes..Version: 1.05

Better than the originalI played Desert Golfing to death. I beat it numerous times only to subsequently delete it and play again because of my infinite enjoyment with the game. This version is the same as desert golfing with a few adjustments. Gravity is mildly less, you can now place spin on the ball, the ball rolls further even win spin is not applied, and you can change the intensity of the shot based on how long you hold down the aiming arrow. Let me take a moment to explain the last characteristic as it was driving me crazy on multiple holes that seemed impossible to beat. If you apply max power to a shot by carefully taking your time and aiming, you will not get max power. If you quickly apply max power and release almost immediately after the arrow appears, you will get a power boost. This is evident if you carefully look at the tip of the arrow when you max out the intensity of the power. You will notice that the length of the arrow shortens at the tip if you hold down the aiming for more than a fraction of a second..Version: 1.05

More GolfingThis game is an excellent twist on Desert Golfing. 90% of the time it’s basically the perfect podcast game Unfortunately the number of impossible levels tends to be annoying, especially since you must make 25 shots before being offered the [skip] option. At the very least you should be able to skip from the menu with a 25+ shot penalty. It’s annoying to be stuck on a level that’s clearly not doable, and to have to slowly take shots until you can skip..Version: 1.05

This game is SO GOODI decided to get this game for a couple reasons. 1. The bio was witty and funny 2. It looked like it wouldn’t kill my battery and 3. It looked fun and a good way to pass the time. And boy I was right on This game is so fun to play, and it’s so relaxing too. When you turn off the Putt counter 👌👌👌, relaxation 100. And i can spend 60 minutes just hitting balls into holes on the red landscape. And for that 60 minutes, it barely takes of like 1%! However to address those toxic and skeptical people, there are some difficult levels. But those are what make the game fun. It’s not all easy levels. Some you actually have to be good. And yes there are some that are not possible. But I have found around 4 of those and I am on level 2921 as of this moment. And yes you have to take 25 strokes but is that really a big deal? It’s not. And yes sometimes it will pop out on a perfect put, but it’s okay, this is t a multiplayer game so why does it matter? Take an extra put to put it in. So in reality, I want to say this game is definitely worth your 3 bucks. 5 starts 👍👌🙌.Version: 1.05

Five Stars, obviouslyJust when my muscle memory has been instilled by Desert Golfing, I find myself on Mars starting from scratch because the physics are all wacked out. Please keep ‘em coming. The Moon offers new possibilities with low low gravity making the ball take forever to drop back if you hit it to steep and hard. Craters. Lots and lots of craters. And maybe the occasional asteroid strike. What else? Indoor golfing (side scrolling through an endless house), golfing in traffic (perhaps having to punch through windshields to get from hole to hole). Golfing on planet Jello. I promise to buy and play anything you might dream up. This can’t possibly get old..Version: 1.05

A mostly calming way to pass the time...A nice little game for those who like things to be part puzzle and part video game... Of course, "mostly" because golf is one of those games that can occassionaly make you crazy. The author has done a great job making a game that is filled with interesting little surprises as the game goes on. It is an endless game where the difficulty level ebbs and flows. It isn't a game where it doesn't get increasingly difficult such that it becomes impossible. Just a nice back-and-forth in challenges..Version: 1.05

I had a dream…So, I was playing Golf On Mars in my dream. I was on level 5000. The game added windmills at that point. There were two types, Normal and Cactus windmills. Normal is just a windmill that goes in circles and your balls bounces off the spinning blades, while cactus is sticky. They also had random speeds. There were also these hole-in-the-wall type sections where you had to go over, under, and between a HOLE bunch of walls (gaps were big). That’s pretty much it. If you are the creator of Golf on Mars reading this, then please add these and hopefully reply to this review..Version: 1.05

Great successor to a legendary iOS gameDesert golfing golfing is un-ironically one of the greatest mobile games ever. It’s simplicity is rare for a mobile game & creates a unique and engaging experience. The gameplay is addicting yet barebones, but somehow doesn’t get old. Golf on Mars carries over all of these traits & adds just enough new mechanics to justify the new game. With slightly tweaked physics & optional spin mechanics along with a secret menu, Golf on Mars is much more fleshed out than Desert golfing, by comparison only. This game is endless, in regards to levels & enjoyment. A must buy for mobile gamers..Version: 1.0

Like this better than desert golf!I enjoy playing this very much. However, the stroke count becomes meaningless when you have an impossible hole and have to try 25 strokes before you are allowed to skip. So I give 4 stars. Would you consider a ‘reset’ button so we don’t have to delete and reload the app?.Version: 1.05

Almost PerfectMust downgrade due to holes that are impossible to play. The holes had no openings to advance the ball. Have encountered 2 holes after 250+ like this. Skip is allowed after 25 strokes which is added to score. Desert Golf does not have this bug. Love the concept of both games and appreciate the challenge of making the perfect shot but game algorithm should allow an opening for that perfect shot. Maybe the game makers are proving a (true) point... some things will be impossible on another planet lol. But for a game it simply adds frustration and makes playing less enjoyable. Hope this is solved with update..Version: 1.05

A glimpse at the afterlifeThis magnificent game proves, with deep profundity, the truth every soul has known deep within our hearts; that there is, without any doubt golf on mars. I have seen my balls soar into the cyan sky, trailing mist through feathery clouds. I have seen my balls descend deep into the planet’s crust emerging moments later shiny and new. I have deftly back-spun my balls into the most deeply satisfying hole in ones. I am one with mars. I am one with golf. I am one with my balls through these eternal red sands..Version: 1.05

The game is funI had never played the original Desert Golfing, but I picked this up on a whim and instantly fell in love. It’s such an elegantly designed take on a classic game concept. The way you instantly go from hole to hole without having to wade through a menu screen or a “Level Complete” popup is really genius. My only complaint/request is that I wish this game had cloud support so I could sync progress across my phone and my iPad..Version: 1.01

Oddly AddictivePlayed through the original several times, and this one just as addicting. Played through the first 200 holes, and nothing impossible so far , so I suspect that issue has been fixed. But, yeah, some holes are going to take 10-15 strokes, at least if you’re an inter-planetary duffer like me. Don’t forget to use a second finger to swipe up or down to add top or back spin to your shot..Version: 1.05

Near PerfectI love Desert Golf and Golf on Mars, but I wish more than anything the developer would add GameCenter support for achievements and leaderboards of all kinds. I’m already addicted, would love to be more addicted. I was gonna make this 4 stars and withhold the last, but that’s not fair—so I consider this game a 4.99/5. You’ll get the last .01 from me when you add achievements!.Version: 1.05

Fun, but impossible holes spoil itI like this game, I really do. It’s a good, simple game to occupy yourself with while listening to music or podcasts. However, a few aspects can spoil the zen mood this game seems to be going for. Namely, the impossible holes. Every so often you come across an insurmountable wall, and the only option to move forward is to hit the ball 25 times and skip the hole. This is frustrating and happens every ~25 holes or so. In addition, I encountered a glitch after hitting the ball into a pit, and the camera got stuck at the bottom. No amount of restarting the app could fix this, and I had to reinstall, which sent me back to the beginning of the game. In conclusion, this game is fun, but the terrain needs work, and there are occasional glitches that can be frustrating..Version: 1.05

Spectacular Waste of Time and Attention - Pseudo ZenI have tried meditation and focusing on my breathing, but my mind won’t stop thinking about too many things. This app has gotten me to stop my erratic attention and just focus on getting the ball to fall into the next hole. I am a clearer and more focused thinker after I have played for 15 minutes, or 3 hours.... Thanks..Version: 1.05

Good but slowIt’s a good game like the other reviews are saying, but it desperately needs a “resolve” button. Something to make the ball immediately move to the place where it would fall or roll. Too many times the ball lands just too close to an edge and I’ve got to watch it roll slooooowwwly down like five hills. It’d be nice to be able to skip those kinds of situations..Version: 1.05

Great gameI’ve really been enjoying this game, very relaxing with some intermittent challenges. I do have a few suggestions for future updates -I prefer to play with the score hidden, sometimes with the sound muted. It would be nice if these settings remained off when I come back to the app later. -IDK if this is possible but it would be nice to be able to pull up some kind of stats, like home in one percentage, furthest distance to hit the ball into a hole from, average strokes per hole etc... Overall I love this game and will continue to play even if these updates never happen. Great job y’all.Version: 1.05

I dig itSublime. Nearly perfect except for the occasional impossible hole. I’m guessing it’s a bug in the random terrain generator function? Or the tolerances drift a little. Anyhoo, it’s a fun game. I’ve played and deleted just about every golf game in existence but this one has persistence (as does its predecessor). Give it a shot..Version: 1.05

Eerily beautiful, but mandatorily impossibleDownright amazing for people who grew up during the polygon era, but you absolutely have to defy gravity on holes like 719 or take 25 strokes as a penalty. You should be able to skip immediately and take the penalty rather than waste time taking 25 sometimes agonizingly slow shots. What’s the impact if the game has so many holes to play through? Please update with an instant skip. I’d take 50 strokes penalty for that..Version: 1.05

Awesome game & Intensity of the RedI love the game very much, simple to play, very zen and super clean (no ads or junks). If possible, could you adjust the intensity of the red color to be a little less red? My eyes are not so comfortable after playing the game for a while. (Maybe give an option for the user to adjust it?) Thank You.Version: 1.05

Desert Golf sequel disappointsGet the original. There are a number of literally impossible holes as well as others that become so with game play. (Rocks that move and block the hole.) Further, the holes are often off the screen and only become visible with movement of the ball to the right. A sometimes frustrating follow up to the brilliant original..Version: 1.05

Delightful casual gameAn excellent diversion for non-gamers who sometimes like playing a game. (That would be me!) No in-app purchases. No in-app ads. No leveling-up—the game starts easy and automatically adjusts as you get better. The graphics are basic but the most important piece, how the ball bounces and rolls...perfect!.Version: 1.05

Fun 90% of the timeThis is a great game that has provided hours of entertainment (i’m past hole 10,000). But sometimes there’s an impossible hole that just can’t be done, and that ruins the experience. I still recommend it butI really wish the dev would find a way to fix this. Clearly other people are annoyed by this too..Version: 1.05

Very good, but beware of impossible holesIn 700 holes so far I’ve found 3 impossible ones that you need to use the skip option that appears after 25 shots on one hole. It’s kind of frustrating, but other than that very good game..Version: 1.05

Perfect game for mobileThis is the epitome of a “pick up and play” game. It’s awesome for whenever you have a couple minutes to kill. I love the addition of spin on the ball but I didn’t get the prompt on how to do it until hole 50. It’d be great to get that prompt on hole #1..Version: 1.0

The Perfect Mobile GameThis game is everything a mobile game should be: mindless, relaxing, 100% interruptible, and endless (i think. i’m on hole number 4536 at time of writing and i’d be shocked if these were all made by hand, so i’m assuming they’re procedurally generated)..Version: 1.05

Glitched outAfter a few hundred holes, the game went full-screen orange making it completely unplayable. Until then, it was loads of fun, but I had to delete the game and start over. Annoying..Version: 1.03

Not better than the original. It's a good game, with enough new techniques to make it worth a buy. I'll warn you ahead of time that some of the holes will have you scratching your head in frustration. Like others have commented before, the impossible holes make this game less than appealing..Version: 1.05

Greatest Video GameI once believed Desert Golfing to be game design perfection but oh how wrong I was. Golf on Mars somehow elevates everything that made Desert Golfing sublime. Today, and I believe this will be true for every instance of today therefore I will not define it, Golf on Mars is the pinnacle of human achievement..Version: 1.0

Great game for idle timeI rally like this game for killing time. Doesn’t require too much concentration, just simple physics. The fun never ends—I’m on hole 4600. I really wish it showed an overall average strokes per hole..Version: 1.05

Nailed the endingA friend of mine, a Paleolithic hunter-gatherer, called me up on her iPhone to say she found the last hole to be much more satisfying than the ending of Lost. I find that hard to believe, but will take her word for it..Version: 1.03

Tiny file...huge funWhat a successor to Desert Golfing! The infinite mode knocks out the minor issue I had with the original game. Hope the developers update the previous game with that. The Mars gravity is fun to deal with. Enjoy!.Version: 1.05

331!Nobody else is talking about this? I’m not a hole skipper, and I’ve done all the holes fair and square... until 331. Is this possible to do? Has anyone done it? It was my first, and hopeful last, time using skip..Version: 1.05

Relaxing GameThanks a bunch for this game. It’s so simple and fun. I enjoy turning off the score and playing without caring about my performance or how many strokes I take..Version: 1.05

Desert Golfing's maximum potentialDon't listen to people when they call this game zen-like. This game is for masochists. I love it so much..Version: 1.05

It's Desert Golfing but slightly newIt's good and like Desert Golfing it's a good thirty seconds game. Little additions aren't mind blowing but they don't have to be. Still very funny in concept..Version: 1.0

Much better than the first!Game is awesome all around. Truly great design. Really dig this game and it’s crazy how dang addictive it is! Can’t praise enough.Version: 1.05

Nothing new or challenging after 200Up to 3400. Okay time waster but whatever algorithm is used doesn’t change after 200 or so. Pretty lame..Version: 1.05

Top end throne game9000 holes played, somehow just never gets old. May be the greatest toilet game ever conceived.Version: 1.05

Buy this game!Stop reading all these reviews and buy the game already..Version: 1.01

Hole 179Pretty sure there’s no way to sink this one. And even if you could violate the laws of physics and somehow do it, there’s no chance of making the next one (#180). What gives? Is this a bug?.Version: 1.05

A sequel to one of my favorite games!Golf on Mars is a solid aesthetic improvement, while maintaining what was so special about Desert Golfing..Version: 1.0

Good sequelGreat game and a good follow up to the original. Random generation seems to (very rarely) create impossible holes though, which is a bit of bummer (but a skip hole button appears after a while)..Version: 1.03

Desert Golf but more MarsSignificant increase in amount of Mars over the original. GOTY 11/10.Version: 1.03

Physics not as phunI played 2575 holes of Desert Golf. The maps in Golf on Mars are great but the gameplay isn’t as fun. This is because the new physics model requires too much precision. Almost all of the “lucky breaks” you’d sink in DG are “near misses” in GoM so you lose out on that fun tension where every shot has a chance. The result just isn’t as fun or entertaining as the original. A toggle for the physics between “realistic” and “arcade” would be an awesome option..Version: 1.05

Golf on moonGolf on moon would be a fun idea and would have the exact same thing as golf on Mars excepted be low gravity. Or each moon could be one round golf course but the gravity would either send your ball in orbit to eventually come down or it would bring your ball half-way across the moon and land in the hole. Just an idea. Good game though..Version: 1.05

Phenomenal sequelImproved in every way over the original, more challenging and satisfying. I hope I can beat this one too..Version: 1.05

Is this all? After a few thousand holes it starts to feel a little repetitive..Version: 1.05

Live the game!Already played 100 holes ... and counting! This is a simple yet satisfying game. Feature request - Can you please add a few statistics likes average per hole and number of holes in 1 ? Thank you !!.Version: 1.05

Lacks the charm of Desert GolfingHas more features than its predecessor, but has become more unnatural and at times exposes scenes that are downright annoying. Still a strong example of how simplicity can make a successful game..Version: 1.05

Fun gameThe cacti are a delight.Version: 1.05

#1 Mars Golf SimulatorSimple, relaxing, endless, fun, aesthetically pleasing, a great time all around..Version: 1.05
