Improvement After ImprovementI’ve been on Locals for over a year now, and while it was already great starting out, the upgrades and real improvements have been regular and measurable. I have been only pleased for making the decision to get in early and to be enjoying such a thriving community now on what has to be the best platform for an online community that exists. I will say that early on there was a small learning curve. It took a few weeks for me to fully understand the structure and design. Folks, this is true with anything. I went through the same period of having to figure out, and get familiar with, Facebook twelve years ago or however long ago it was, and so did you. If you are still hosting your work on Facebook groups, you’re on a sinking dinosaur ship. Great content by interesting creators BUTThe “BUT” and 4 stars versus 5 is because all of a sudden, the app switched from a landscape interface to portrait. Because I use a keyboard on my iPad, I am unable to use the app the way I had been using it from the beginning. I reported this, but have had no response other than the developer was looking into this. I logged out, deleted the app, shut down the iPad, etc. and reinstalled and logged back in. So for now, the app is unusable. I type by touch, so the visual keyboard is awkward and untenable for me. I can just use my phone if I want to use a visual method which is unquestionably much, much slower. I have looked everywhere in every toggle to try to resolve this issue. Am I the only one with this concern? Maybe, but what changed? So what would have been a 5 star, is a 4…may be a 3 if I get no answers..H2G2 \m/Version: 1.9.2

Over the years with Jim at BCPHowdy folks of USA. It’s been over 6 years that I’ve been watching this channel. It seems like I grew up with Jim, I know was a Banker, I know he is a father. I know his background and he’s here in America and Jim is a very conservative American, and mostly talks about economics the way the world is going, much clearer when he’s talking about worldly things, that it’s more truthful then the main stream news. Decent, but auto play doesn’t seem to workI don’t know what the deal is, but it seems like auto play doesn’t work. When I hear the word auto play, I’m thinking that it will… Automatically play as in automatically play the next video. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to work at all. My favorite creators make small 3 to 10 minute videos. I want to start a video, and then have it automatically play continuously until I have seen all of the videos. In my shop, I have a TV and stereo system set up so that I while I’m working I can watch the news and other content, but the app is useless to me if every time a new video finishes, I have to go and start the next one. Stopping what I’m doing every 3 to 5 minutes to go and start the next video is pretty stupid, especially whenThere is actually an auto play option in the settings which I have enabled. Livestream and playback need improvementReview is about app, not content. Playing back a CWSA works until you pause it. Frequently loses the pause time and I have to close app and start playback again. It does let you scroll to where you want to be. Livestream doesn’t let you scroll mid livestream. Rumble (Bongino) works flawlessly. Should be the locals goal. Interrupting a livestream to hear a text or take a call sometimes freezes a livestream. Have to close app and restart it. First restart fails because it says I already am logged in somewhere else. Closing and restarting works. Nov 11 update App allows pausing and starting from beginning during a livestream. Nice! However, during the delayed playing, when the livestream ends, so does the delayed playback. Have to wait for it to be posted before you can listen to the rest of the stream..301bfVersion: 2.0.24

Locals is GREAT!! App, not so much.Locals is an awesome social media platform where The Big Tech Brothers are not in power. Freedom of speech is honored, and you can decide who you can see in your feed, and your able to give financial support to your favorite communities. Unfortunately, the app is not very good. The biggest issue I see is in the organization. I have a few groups that I subscribe to. Occasionally, I need to manage my subscriptions, but when I go into the “manage subscriptions” area, I can only see one at a time. I have to go out of that screen and go into another group, then go back, if I am to make any changes to that subscription. So, I am giving LOCALS 10 stars 🤩, but the app only gets three ⭐️from me. App could be more intuitive with swiping.When I swipe left after selecting a post, in most apps, it takes me back to where I was previously. On Locals, it brings up a side menu to hop into another community. I really think the app could be better by placing the community tab somewhere else with a different gesture or something, and swiping left would return me to the previous screen. That and there is no swiping away a photo from a post to get out of zooming in on it, I have to pick up my fat finger and physically bring it to the corner to press the little ‘X’ button, like it’s 2006 or something. Fabulous platformThis is my favorite social media platform. It brings together like-minded people and keeps the trolls out. It is place to freely discuss topics that big tech deems controversial without having to fear censorship or deplatforming. Three suggestions: Add a casting option from WITHIN the app to cast to your smart tv. Add an option for users to create and post their own polls just like the hosts can do. I use it for Scott AdamsThere is good content but the app itself is mediocre. Shows don’t start for inexplicable reasons sometimes. For some reason there is a long delay after a live stream and a show is available for watching later. There really also should be an option to download a show for when one will be in an area with no network and there should also be an option for audio only editions of shows. Great contente, but the interface needs workI was drawn into Locals by a few of the creators on the site, and I have greatly enjoyed the content and the communities. But the user interface needs some rethinking. Finding the place where you can search for creators is a bit tricky, and the search itself is a bit rudimentary. Video playback works, I guess, but there often are layout problems when the video player is displayed with liv chats. It would also be great if this app could support picture-in-picture. It would also be good to have a “related creators” feature, where users could be given suggestions based on their current communities. There’s a lot of potential here, and Locals provides a place like no other for creators and communities to form around unique content. Fix Please: Orientation Issues on iPadFirst off, love tall the creators and the platform - but the app has flaws if you want to use landscape mode on an iPad. It just really wants to stay in portrait mode and when you can get it to landscape mode it often flips it upside down! This is a problem when you are using a keyboard. Needs work but like itI joined locals only because louder with crowder moved Mug Club to it. I do like the idea and the chat feature and interaction, but they need work on supporting large streams. Decent ExperienceI get to watch the creators that I like and the video quality is good for the most part. However, I’ve noticed that when I’m on my cellular service (and forgive me if it ends up being on my end), the videos will buffer for a very long time and won’t start until I set it back ten seconds. Needs a lot more workThe Locals app is pretty bad in terms of video playback. If you're having creators use it as a paywall platform, then you really need to fix the interface and video features. The video playback behavior is all over the place. Th audio doesn't match the video. Some times full screen auto-locks; some times it doesn't. The app will rotate on its own in and out of full screen. Background audio will work and the next minute it pauses. The app shows a speaker icon in-line with the video scrubber, making it look like you're changing volume. At least there's an option for video quality and playback speed. If you switch from the phone app to your TV, one or the other will say you're watching on another device. Really? Don't be that cheap, first off. Second, your platform doesn't even notice playback pause on one device fast enough to enable it on another. Just take out that miserly "feature". It would also be great if there were more integration with Rumble. Why do I need two accounts?.YouKnowItIKnowItVersion: 2.0.9

Great content locked behind a Clunky interfaceA true band width hog app that would be a leading edge app for the 1980s. Comments function seems to have achieved the lowest level of functionality possible, substituting every word typed for random gibberish, making commenting an exercise in embarrassment. If you try to switch between devices you are likely to just get locked out of the app, the watch here function occasionally works. Problems with the app become more pronounced when watching a popular live stream. Recorded streams do record comments, but the comments are not linked to the recorded stream so you must scroll through the comments to keep up with the recorded stream. Recent patches have finally fixed problem of being blocked from live streams for the entire cast because the servers could not maintain contact with app and would just keep reloading. If the content was available on other apps, I would not use this version, just not worth the frustration or huge use of bandwidth. Locals consistently leads the list of all apps for use of band width and data use..ArbatelVersion: 2.0.11

Not worth itEvery single time I use Locals I get a severe audio delay of seven or more seconds. I also get constant drops in connection while watching live, leaving me unable to reconnect because Locals keeps telling me I’m using multiple devices which is not allowed. I am not using multiple devices, I have tried multiple reloading, and I have tried using different devices. I am paying for this so it’s quite disappointing. It’s almost going on my third week and if anything the service is getting worse. It is not on my end. Everything that I have tested is working perfect including Internet service. I am not one to normally complain, because I know everything has to start somewhere and bugs will show up along the way. However, I have brought this to attention multiple times with zero response. If there was an option for zero stars, this would be my one time using that option. I would not recommend this to friends and family while this level of unusable service continues. Notifications for my subscriptions disappearI have a number of Locals subscriptions in my account. As expected, I receive notifications for the channels as they publish their content. As is typical for many apps, if I hit/tap a specific notification, i’m brought into the app and presented with content for the notification I tapped. However… there’s a problem in that, if I go into the app without tapping any notifications (or even if I do tap a particular notification), all the other “pending” notifications then disappear and I have no way of going back to select the other notifications. I’ve checked my app and iOS settings and it seems like it’s set up correctly. Took me forever to figure out how to find it. They really need to take the effort to improve the interface. Considering that we are basically paying for podcast, it is beyond my understanding that I cannot download and play the podcast with my own personal flair. Because of the ineptness of the player that comes with this app, I would like to use my own app that would give me the features I need, and make the service much more useful. I literally download the free version of the contacts and listen to it and then come back to Locals and struggle through the interface to get to the point where I get the premium part of the continent. They Don’t Seem to Care AnymoreI was understanding of this app being in Beta and the bugs and issues that arose. Additionally, I felt grateful that Dave Rubin created a free speech platform where you can hear information and opinions that don’t necessarily conform to the mainstream media narrative. However, since Locals was acquired by Rumble they no longer have responsive customer service (or customer service at all?). Reporting significant issues, such as all of the show replays on Coffee with Scott Adams being cut off EVERY day are totally ignored. They have not responded to my multiple attempts to bring this to their attention or even acknowledged the issue despite the fact that I pay $7 dollars a month for the bonus contract. Needs a lot of work.The app is a good idea, but it is leap years behind any app that app that you pays video, the video always lags behind whoever you are watching by about 5 seconds or so. You also can’t connect it to your tv to watch it there. The locals Roku app only lets you watch 10 seconds of video(yes I’m signed in) you also can’t minimize the app or have it so you can lock your phone and just listen to audio. I can go on and on but the developers know they are years behind any other app that isnt garbage. Has faultsGreat app, especially when you hit pause, and a heartbeat later it continues on its own. Pause again, and it will keep going because it knows better than you. Pause and lock the phone, and it will continue until the end of the video, which means you have to restart it and figure out where it was before. Perpetually broken featuresChat, Comments, Notifications and event scroll are all broken. Just watched a long list of notifications self-delete, and my own comments don’t appear in the historical Comments stream after initially posting there for a few minutes. There are at least two separate chat streams that don’t interconnect during livestream events, and chat posts just stop, requiring an app restart. Other users also complain about constant feature errors. We pay for content well worth our subscription fees, then the app degrades the experience. Poor experience all around…1. Violates platform rules. 2. Unreliable in whatever it does. 3. Eats battery alive. 4. Violates common sense. 5. Adds extra “flash” that gets in the way of usability. 6. Their website interface is better, which is sad, and (perhaps I’ll test this) eats less power. 7. Of all the insanely stupid things, demands you reinstall the app to change app settings for notifications, etc. and tells you this. 8. Refuses to continue operation entirely if you turn off the screen, certainly when doing a live stream: hey, NOT EVERYONE CARES ABOUT VIDEO AT ALL TIMES! I listen to things while driving, or in bed. I don’t want to use up power and light things up just because the developers have no clue how to make users happy. 9. Live chat doesn’t always work reliably, and you don’t even get told why. If there is a back end throughput issue, indicate it. I’m a developer. I’d never put my name on this. This is inexcusable. Kinda not goodGood on Locals for being cavalier with their hosting. The execution on the the user experience leaves something to be desired. Not on 5g or fiber? Well, you’re going to have audio issues. Half of the time it sounds like it’s Cher tier autotune. Are you a fan of the old dubbed Asian movies? Then you’re going to love the sync issues. The biggest issue I have with the app is the inability to get it in background mode. This is the biggest issue I have. Need to answer an email? Then you’re going to have to shut down the stream to answer it. At the gym and you don’t want to have your screen on? Nope, you have to show everyone what you’re watching. Needs workLove Locals as a concept, but as for actual function this app is just GARBAGE. So often I can't get the content, then I change to apple pods or yt or whatever and the other thing works fine. It doesnt gibe well with other apps, it doesn't work well with bluetooth, its just all around glitchy in so many ways. Lately its been randomly signing me out in the middle of a show. I had patience 2 or 3 years ago when it was a nice new alternative to other formats, but in that time its done NOTHING to work out the bugs. Can barely hear audio at allDoes anyone else have this problem? I have to turn the headphone safety option off on my phone when I listen to anything on here and unless I’m in a very quiet environment I can still barely hear anything at all when I have the audio turned all the way up. Really annoying. If at any time I want to go back on a video to rehear or watch something it’s also annoying because there’s no 15/30 second rewind/forward option so I have to very carefully grab the progress bar and drag it back, which as you can imagine is pretty hard to do accurately on a 2 hour video. Audio desync errorsConstantly has audio desync from video and rewinding the video doesn’t help. I’m surprised about that because that’s always been the answer: if you get desync then you rewind and it reloads better. Somehow it never reloads, if there’s a visual glitch (which happens often on locals) or an audio desync, it will reliably replicate the error if you reload it. Its like it stores the screwed up video playback on your device so you cannot fix it. I appreciate the service because of the content creator I enjoy is only on it, but the playback is abysmal. Low Performance Terribly Glitchy STILLEveryone says “be patient“ but this app has had terrible performance from the outset and little to no improvement. Difficult to watch live streaming because of poor performance. When I go back to watch the recorded version, I often experience poor buffering. So often get failure messages from the app or can’t perform simple features like minimizing the window. Overall it’s a terrible experience. If I didn’t like the content creators so much, I wouldn’t bother with Locals.
