Seriously, just do it!Manta Comics is beyond worth it. In 10+ years, I think I’ve reviewed 1-2 apps maximum…because who leaves reviews for apps. Lol. Manta is the exception for me. Highly, highly recommend. I’ve not even had my subscription two full months, yet I’ve read more series on here than I ever thought my brain could handle or juggle at one time. When you realize how much you get with this app at an extremely reasonable price, it’s an easy decision to subscribe. Well done, Manta Comics team. *Pro tip: Have a series that you’re reading for every day of the week. That way, there’s a new episode to look forward to every single day. Also, The Golden Forest is wildly underrated. It’s my absolute favorite series hands-down. The storyline has so many layers, and the episodes are very satisfying because you get enough content (that made it worth waiting a week for and not just something short to seemingly fill a weekly quota), yet there will still be the obligatory cliff hanger. Haha. There are truly so many good series on Manta (and they’re ALL binge worthy, so, buckle up), but The Golden Forest takes the cake for me. Uh...help?I saw an ad for this on FB so I downloaded it, but I can’t even create an account. I tap on Continue with Apple and...nothing. Nothing happens. It just sits there. When I tap the App Support link here in the iTunes Store, it just takes me to the front page of the Manta website which also seems to take issue with either my iPad or Safari, I’m not sure which; I can’t scroll to the bottom of the main page and I don’t see anything that looks like a link to customer support at the top. I wanted to read some of these comics but...🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Can’t seem to get anywhere with the website OR the app. I’ll change my rating if you fix this. 😒😒😒 Edit: I gave up on trying to use “Continue with Apple” and used a google login instead, and that worked. Why is the Apple login offered if it doesn’t work..? Anyways, my comments about the website remain unchanged, and I never heard a peep from support, so...🤷‍♀️ After using the app for a few days my only complaint is as an iPad Pro user. The thing doesn’t use my entire screen like the other comic apps I have. I expanded it from what I assume is the phone version, but it’s still a strip down the middle of my screen with a good two or 3 inches of space on either side. Great but…..Needs a better way to search for what you specifically want. Needs a better selection. Needs to add a coin feature. ……. I love that this app has an unlimited reading subscription, I’ve always wanted an app to have this. On other apps with coins I would have just been happy having one book a week of my choice temporarily unlocked so finding this app made me so happy. However the selection isn’t that great yet, especially in variety, so when I’m in the mood for a specific type I have to go somewhere else and lately there’s not much on the app I’m in the mood to read, though there’s a lot I want to eventually read when I am in the mood, and what I am in the mood for doesn’t have many chapters so I don’t want to start them yet, plus for multiple reasons I mostly just like reading completed stuff. So at times like this I wish there were ways to earn coins so I could save up coins to use when there’s only one or two books on the app I’m interested in instead of paying every month for an app I’m barely using or wait a whole day just to unlock one chapter. For a new app it is really good...Not sure why everyone is giving it horrible reviews just because you have to pay a fee to read the comics. I think the $4 a month is extremely reasonable, I already feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it and my first month isn’t even over yet. The library is very limited at the moment but they are adding more and expanding. The comics I’m currently reading I’m really enjoying. They even have ‘The Lady and Her Butler’ which is a premium comic on Tapas that you would have to pay PER EPISODE. For a comic over 100 episodes I would have had to pay well over $5 for it so I already feel like I’m getting a good deal on Manta. My only complaints are of course the limited library at the moment, and the clunky loading. Sometimes when I first open the app all my subscribed and liked series have disappeared and I have to close and reopen the app to get it to show again. Also pressing on the notification bell or the heart icon is clunky, sometimes it doesn’t even respond and I have to press again. WORTH ITA while ago, a Manta ad popped up on one of my social media’s with a few images from the story Under the Oak Tree and of course I immediately downloaded the app the learn more. Cut to me like a half hour later, majorly annoyed that I was already hitting a paywall. I decided to cave to the premium monthly fee, telling myself that I would just do it for a month to read a bunch of the stories. Then I could cancel it and periodically pay for a month to check in if I wanted. Now it’s over a month later and I’m so happy with the service that I have no plans of stopping it any time soon. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that the fee is just a monthly flat rate. I’m familiar with the Webtoon method that makes you pay for coins so you can buy episodes. This is so much better though!! For four bucks a month I can binge read all the stories I want and there’s so much great content! I’m always finding new stories to read and already have several that I follow faithfully. I love this app so much!!I extremely love this app it really help me read a little bit more and it help me find what type of genre I like it has also helped me when I’ve had a rough day because the stories were just lighting me up a lot and I also like how much detail and effort they put into the words and the drawings. It has potential but…One day I started getting a bunch of ads from Manta and I decided to download it to see what all the hype is about. When I got into the app I started reading “totems realm” and after like 2 chapters, I noticed a daily pass on the 3rd. I found out the daily pass is a pass that only lets you read A chapter a day. I immediately thought this was ridiculous because what’s the point if your only gonna read a chapter per book a day. And what’s more, you have to pay monthly to get the full experience 😒🤦🏽‍♀️. My card isn’t connected to this device so I can’t even pay for the subscription. Even the complete books give you 2 chapters free and then you need the subscription My suggestion? You should at least give people the chance to read more free chapters a day (5-10 maybe) then give the daily pass and then ask for people to buy the subscription. Worth it.I downloaded this app for ONE specific series that I wanted to read without having to spend money for individual chapters/episodes. For $4 I was able to completely read that one series and then go on to read OTHER incredible series. It goes without saying that this is an incredible deal. There’s a good variety of romance comics and they’re all very high quality in terms of story and art. I really can’t fully express how good of a deal this is. To all the people complaining about having to pay, I’m guessing that you’re probably not yet old enough to have a credit card/digit payment method. If that’s the case, then you’re probably not even old enough to read most of the series to begin with so...🤷‍♀️. If the devs want, they can implement a 1 time payment method for users who want to use the app without a subscription, that way some individuals can ask for their parents to pay or they can use physical money to buy a prepaid card and use that to make a 1 time payment for a single months use (the price would probably be bumped above 4 but it would still be a good deal imo) To (the probably small) portion of people who can pay but simply don’t want to, please consider how much work goes into making these comics by the artists. Great value for moneyHighly recommend this app for those like me who don't have time to save coins or pearls and who just want something to read when they get a chance. For one drink at Starbucks, you can have a whole month of reading. :D I noticed that no one recently had reviewed this app, so I wanted to share my experience. I love this app! I have several manga/manhwa/manhua apps and like all of them to varying degrees. But this takes the cake on my busy life. A frustration I have with other apps is that I am constantly saving my pearl/coins/ spending real money to view them. On some apps once something is completely published, you then have to pay to reread (or finish reading), which is sad and annoying. This app is different! It is a one time pay and You Get All! The content has definitely grown since the last reviewer in March, but the beauty of this system is that you can cancel and resubscribe at any point. So simply put, if you read through it all (because you can!) cancel and come back in a few months for more. You Can! It is a good price for several great stories. I got this app for "Under the Oak Tree" and that series alone is worth what I paid. They have lots of options on Genre as well as a whole completed section that you can binge through while waiting for uploads. Lots of different styles and the worry free enjoyment can't be beat. Great stories and pricingI absolutely love that manta is subscription based, and the price is great. Every other web comic app I've tried makes you pay PER CHAPTER. You'd have to pay almost 20 bucks, give or take, for some of those apps just to read a one season for one story, sometimes more. That 20 dollars would be 5 months with manta with unlimited reading. Besides that, I love the stories on here. I'm currently reading over a dozen of them and they're awesome. Right in my taste for writing style/art style/ and genres. Get this app, the stories are SO GOOD.I normally never leave reviews, but I feel this app absolutely deserves one. Diverse content and easy user navigationI like how smooth and easy the interface is, especially when I’m scrolling through the chapters. The advertisements for the comics is also eye catching so kudos to the advertisement team for attracting readers. I also thank the translation team for bringing these stories for western audiences. The subscription plan is also quite cheap compared to other comics that rely on coin system to allow readers access to almost every chapter. The only downside that made me take a star away is the obvious censorship for stories with mature content, especially for the BL genre. In my honest opinion, I don’t think I can enjoy the stories as much as I want to if panels displaying sex scenes fade to black or are simply omitted out altogether. It’s simply not following the story faithfully. OBSESSEDI just want to say, this is my favorite app for reading on. The stories are amazing. I binge stories for hours everyday. Great stories but eventually have to payAt first I absolutely loved the Manta APP, until I didn’t anymore. The APP is not completely free, and there is not a daily reward, login, or app function to unlock a free episode. They give you a certain amount of pages to read for example 5 free pages out of 45. After a certain point to continue reading you have to buy the subscription. I also dislike that every time you login, you’re prompted either an ad for a new story, even if it’s one you already read, even if you have requested to close the ads. To be honest, there are a lot of other apps out there that are completely free with weekly read options, watch ads for points, daily login rewards the list goes on that makes this app feel not worth your while. So Far So GoodI have found quite a few stories so far that I either enjoyed reading in their entirety or am now imaptiently and excitedly waiting for (usually) weekly updates! One complaint, and I hope the developer takes note, is that when looking to find new stories, you can only search one tag at a time. For example, if I want to browse completed stories, I can’t choose to browse completed romance stories or completed drama/romance stories. Why wouldn’t we able to search for stories with any combination of tags? It’s ridiculous to slog through one category at a time when I could be narrowing my search to exactly what I’m looking for, especially if I want to find stories that have already been finished in a genre that I enjoy. Great app in the makingI’m pleased so far with the app and it’s content, taking into consideration that it is a new app. The interface that exists is clear and easy to use, and the stories and art are high-quality. The English translations are good in particular, I’ve noticed. I also appreciate the value I get for the monthly subscription. Other reviews have already mentioned many of the additions I would recommend to the developers, but I would like to strongly suggest one thing: Please, please, please put a content warning for sexual assault and other sensitive topics (suicide, self-harm, etc.) in the summaries of stories that contain them. Worth it!!I really enjoy this app. For the longest time I was hesitant about having too many reading apps but downloaded this one for some reason and quickly became hooked! I love that they have a simple monthly subscription. NO COINS. No dumb point system. Just 5 bucks and unlimited reading if you don’t have patience for ads. Honestly, if they bumped it up a little more for the artist I wouldn’t complain. Only one suggestion… add a “have read” or “read” tab under the my series. Good! With SuggestionsI love the app. The storylines are quite good and so is the art, and you get an incredible amount of content for the low subscription fee (they have to make money somehow!). The only complaints I have are the English translations and the individual chapter lengths. I find the chapter lengths to be very short-like I’m patiently waiting for the next upload for a week or two, but when it comes I finish the chapter in like 5 minutes. I’d rather have chapters released in batches or only completed series put up there than this, or have the individual chapters be longer. And, I hope that after fundraising, the translations get better! Best one I’ve triedI’ve had at least 10+ manga apps and I only use two including this one, and I can confidently say that it is the best one. It can be used free, but you are a bit more limited on what you can read, but if you’re willing to spend something for a lot of good stories then I would subscribe. It’s literally only $4 a month, which is wayyyyy better than all the other apps that make you buy coins or something to read the whole series, and the notification system is appreciated. Can’t get enoughTikTok pushed the adds for this app in my face constantly so I looked into it and thought “what the heck. $4 a month and I’m able to read awesome stories with beautiful art work. Absolutely.” At first I couldn’t figure out how the app worked and o was really only interested in one story from the beginning but now, like four days into having the app I feel like it can just get better and better from here. Favorite webcomic appOut of all the webcomic apps I have this one is the simplest and just makes the most sense. It has a flat rate at $4.99 a month. I don’t have to go through the hassle of watching ads or paying for each and every little thing. I also like the fact that it’ll not only tell you the release dates but also if the author is taking a break or if the series will no longer continue. They have good communication skills with their readers and it’s nice to know if there is an update because let’s face the authors are human too and things pop up in life. No updatesSo I saw an ad for Manta about two years ago and got hooked on one of the more popular stories. Slowly what I’ve come to realize is that they continuously add new stories to read, complete a season and then you’re waiting for months for an update. I have a story in my library that hasn’t been updated in over 4 months. I have another story that has the complete novel available to read yet, the comic with images hasn’t been updated in months. So you can read ahead without visuals but if that’s the case, you’re better off just buying a book. I’m not knocking the artists and rushing their work at all it just seems unfair to pay for something and know that you may not get anything new on current stories. Beyond that I’ve had multiple stories end early due to unforeseen circumstances, which is totally fine. Or a story just ending what seems to be abruptly all together. You have to keep paying a subscription to hope maybe a story with a finished season, not completed, comes back or is updated but doesn’t seem to be a guarantee and then wants you to turn on notifications for it. Like I said I’ve been waiting 4+ months for a lot of stories yet all I get are new ones being added on. So I wonder if this is just a repetitive cycle. Why would you nerf your app?Don’t get me wrong, I love your app! It’s hard to find a flat fee platform with quality translations. Sure, you could use more girls love, but tbf I say that about everything. Horrible App & Customer ServiceThe customer service is horrible. I paid for a subscription and the next day it was asking me if I wanted to sign up for their subscription as if I hadn’t already the day before. I reached out to them for a refund with several screenshots proving that the day I purchased the subscription and what it displayed on my account page in the app after my purchase. It wasn’t until I actually cancelled my subscription that it would reflect that I had subscribed on the account page by telling me when the subscription would end. They kept insisting that I was trying to access my subscription through a different account when that wasn’t the case I sent them multiple screenshots proving that it was the same account which proved that it was an app issue. Toxic portrayal and treatment of female mcsAlmost every comic sends a negative message and gives a feel bad vibe. So many examples where women are treated like meat etc and then the comic romanticizes the toxic relationships. Also, whenever something good is about to happen the women are made to feel guilty for wanting a good thing and are punished for anything bad that happens in a series. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt and say the series develop into something better, but i have stuck around in way too many titles and found the same conclusion: the storyline is toxic and leaves me upset. Subscription Structure Creates ProblemsThe good things about the app: the stories are decent (it’s not Shakespeare, but that’s what you expect from romance; the translation is fine, if a bit simplistic; and the art is good), the app is well-structured, and it would probably be fun if it wasn’t such a frustrating experience to try and access its content. I have no problem paying for a high quality app, especially one like this which features the work of artists. But it would be a lot more appealing to pay an upfront fee, or at least have some stories that are completed and free, instead of only allowing five chapters and then one extra chapter every 24 hours (chapters take like, two minutes to read). My biggest issue, though, is the subscription structure itself. This app is built as a subscription linked to your Apple ID, as opposed to as an app platform for a web-based subscription (ex. Audible). A web-based subscription allows way more flexibility, because you can choose your payment method. These Apple subscriptions subject you to the absolute hell that is Family Sharing payment logistics. While this won’t apply to everyone, a lot of people are on Family Sharing these days for services like Apple Music, and only one payment method can be attached to a Family Sharing account - and that therefore gets attached to your Apple ID. For whatever reason this app will not let me purchase the subscription, because it keeps going through Family Sharing even though I have purchase sharing and subscription services off (I’m an adult and feel no need to charge my family organizer’s credit card monthly for a romance comic). I’m sure part of the problem is on Apple’s end, but this is just one example of how the subscription structure ruins the product experience. Great comics, but heavily censoredI purchased a 1 year subscription. The comics are great. The image quality and translations are very well done, though I guess Manta is a licensed streamer rather than responsible for production and distribution. The biggest frustration I have with Manta is they heavily censor their content. Sometimes nearly whole chapters are gone and it messes up the clarity and flow of the stories it literally drives me to unpaid sites to find what I missed! I want to support artists so it is disappointing Manta’s strict adherence for SFW in all comics will make it so I will not resubscribe. Recommendation: Add an age verified mature section, or create a second app Manta+ that has mature content that requires age verification for download.
