ResponseA lot of sign in issues and glitches should have been resolved before the transitions/merger CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PATHETIC I WILL BE CHANGING BANKS SOON IF THIS DOES IMPROVE I am a member of a credit union which provides much better service and customer service. I could not sign in to my BB&T account the date the switch over occurred. I waited on the automated service for 1:45 minutes and was hung up on on the date the switch over occurred by your customer service representative. She did not view me as valuable customer She was angry and needs coaching to understand her role as a bridge to resolve issues customers experience. If she does not like performing her job duties she should seek employment performing a different job function. When calling the customer service number after hours I have had difficulty getting to speak with anyone this was as recent as Friday, September 17, 2021. This seems to occur when there are issues with online banking When ATT purchased DirecTV this is the exact way customers were treated and now it is struggling to survive. I was a customer until ATT took control. I found a better provider. I am contemplating taking the same action here. I have a business account, home mortgage, personal account with (BB&T) now Truist, if I continue to have these issues I am leaving. Thanks for the opportunity to share my experiences Michael Warren.Version: 2.4.0

HorribleTruist truly was not ready, this app is such a disappointment. In addition to being forced to switch from my Suntrust app this app rarely works, the layout, design and ease of use are terrible. Each time I access it there is a message in app that says the service your requesting is not available. I have used my Suntrust debit card for years to receive and send funds via Cash App. After being forced to switch to Truist, I was unable to receive or send money using Cash App. The error said your card is not allowing deposits please add a new card. I had to call Suntrust the rep initially told me to contact Cash App, I told her the problem started as soon as I was forced to switch to Truist. After going back and forth with her she said she refreshed my card which corrected the error with cash app. I tried to send money from cash app today I’m getting an error saying your bank declined this payment please update your card. Not only that, but I attempted to use my debit card in the grocery store yesterday and it was declined. I have used the same card for years. We were assured there would be no interruptions in services, but for me that clearly has not been the case. Truist you need to go back to the drawing board..Version: 1.5.2

Improvements madeI NEVER write reviews, but felt I should this time. I waited until I HAD to download the new Truist app (old U BBT app no longer worked). I did so with dread, as I do hate change, and the reviews for this new Truist app were anything but encouraging. Once I logged in (and my old user name and password worked on the first try), facial rec. was turned on, things SEEM to be working correctly. It seems there have been a number of updates since the app was released 2 months or so ago, and they must have helped. I read a number of the previous reviews and many of those items seem to have been fixed. The app seems similar to the old UBBT app. I was able to find most of the info I was looking for relatively easily. 2 items that could be improved- 1) the color/font/boldness of the writing could be improved. As others mentioned the text (and sometimes numbers) are a little difficult to read. 2) the bill pay area, again as others mentioned, it would be nice if the nicknames appeared next to the payee name (as they did in the old app). Especially true if you have multiple accounts with the same payee name (life and auto ins. With the same carrier). Overall I am pleasantly surprised by the app, as I was really not looking forward to the change. Maybe they are listening and there is hope!.Version: 1.3.1

The Absolute Worst!!!!I have been a SunTrust customer for as long as I can remember. As prompted by the SunTrust app, I did the upgrade to Truist. Needless to say, I got everything set up without a problem except the “Mobile Text” banking. Now, I thought downloading the app was mobile text banking. Then, you set up all the alerts in order to receive notifications about transactions made to your account. So, I thought. Well, I decided to check my account balance by texting the banking “CODES” like BAL/HIST. Every time I type the initials “BAL” for my account balance I receive a text message stating I need to enroll in “Text Mobile Banking”. Like really!!! But I’m receiving text messages from Truist about transactions but I can’t randomly text “BAL” to check my balance. Yes. I know I can login and check my balance but the text message feature made it much easier. Finally, I reached out to technical support to address my concern. No, help there. I was directed to call my cellphone carrier because I had a possible “short text block”. AT&T said there was not a problem and I no blocks on my account. Please address this issue and contact me if possible..Version: 1.3.1

Face ID not workingI spent time on the phone today with Truist online support and Apple support trying to figure out why the Face ID in the app will not enable. It worked fine with my iPhone XR, but since I’ve upgraded to the 14, I can’t get Face ID to work. When I go to the login preferences and toggle Face ID on, I click the “save” button. I’m prompted with a message that says “Your Face ID has changed. Do you want to save it?” I click “yes.” I get a message that says “Your Face ID has been saved”. Then when I try to navigate away from that page, I get a message that says “Your changes have not been saved. Are you sure you want to leave?” If I click “yes” Face ID automatically toggles off. If I click “no” I can’t leave the page. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least three times. Each time I try to enable Face ID, I get an email confirmation that it is enabled, but it still won’t work. I have updated my iOS to the latest 16.5. In my Password and Face ID settings on my phone, the Truist app is not listed as one of the apps using Face ID. None of my other apps or phone itself have any problems with Face ID working. It’s only the Truist app. I am hoping that posting this review will cause the developer to look into the issue because neither Truist online support or Apple could figure out the problem..Version: 2.4.1

Horrible app! I hope the merger isn’t the same!!Where do I begin?? If the app even opens it crashes. When it does open, the accounts don’t even reflect an accurate accounting of my transactions. Past transactions are missing or daily balances are unrealistic and show amounts I’ve never even had in my account. I’ve been in the accounting profession for almost 30 years and if they can’t do a simple data transfer from one system to another after all the time they’ve had for this merger is alarming. My mom was with BB&T and I got her set up with their app-it was not very user friendly. I assured her that after the merger they would logically follow the format of the stronger more streamlined SunTrust app. Boy was I wrong. The previous SunTrust app would show an accurate real time balance that reflected “pending” transactions. The Truist app has a weak pay bills section with buttons “grayed out” implying you can’t press “pay” or “done”. The Zelle feature is ridiculous— just 2 big buttons. You know an app is bad when your 23 year old son in IT and your 27 year old tech savvy daughter are both complaining about it and questioning whether it’s safe to stay with Truist. I have to agree with them..Version: 1.4.0

Terrible!!!!! (iPad IOS users read this)The merger of these two banks has been terrible, unable to log into my accounts, can’t speak with anyone with a pulse and if you do, plan on a long wait and hope you can understand their English! The Suntrust app was working great, you should have kept it and just changed the name, “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”! I would have given -5 stars, but that option wasn’t available! Suntrust, you used to be a great bank! What’s really funny is I see all these 1 and 2 star ratings and at the top of the page it shows reviews at 4.3 out of 5! To those using an iPad running IOS 15, if you’re trying to open the app and your iPad is in “Landscape Mode”, turn your iPad to “Portrait Mode” to see if the app will open, it did for me, then you can turn your iPad back to “Landscape Mode” and the app will stay open, but if you close the app you’ll have to go through this procedure again which is a developer flaw! I did this without any assistance from Truist or the app Developer, hope this helps. ‘.Version: 1.4.0

New app, few improvementsComing from the beloved sun trust app I was forced towards using this one. Okay makes sense with new branding and whatnot. I wasn’t happy but not really to angry. Just annoyed but I get it. Personally I absolutely cannot stand the color scheme but that’s whatever. Tiny thing. For the most part it’s easy to navigate and relatively similar. But the mobile deposit function needs work. At one of my jobs we are given hand written checks weekly. Old school and annoying but what are you gonna do? It pays. With the sun trust app anytime I wanted to mobile deposit and the app didn’t agree with the amount I put in vs what was written on the check I simply had to hit “confirm amount” and that was that. Money is there next day. Truist does not offer that function. It gives you one option. Retake picture. Pretty useless. So now I have to drop this check off at the bank even though it now has “for truist mobile deposit only” written on the back. Incredibly annoying as it’s now required. So if they want to enhance online banking, the developers of this app or trust or whoever makes the design calls needs to step up the mobile deposit function. One of a couple reasons I’m considering switching banks anyway..Version: 1.3.1

Not bad at all! pleasantly surprisedI’ve only been using this app for a day after transferring from the U by BB&T app, and truthfully i had low expectations after reading the reviews. however, after downloading and messing around for a bit, it seems as if people have older versions of the app or are just a bit too harsh on this app. change can be hard to deal with, but not all change is bad! do i think the BB&T app was a bit more user-friendly? sure. i can understand the complaints about the dark purple vs the font and how it’s harder to read. but, with that being said, i don’t have anything negative to say about the Truist app. depositing a check was super easy, viewing my balance(s) is a breeze, it still gives insights just like the app i was using previously, basically everything is the same except for the layout except it’s more sleek now. i have an iPhone 7 Plus that sometimes doesn’t even like to open apps so... if it’s working for me, i can’t understand it not working for people with newer phones unless it’s programmed for my system and is a bit outdated. all in all, pretty dang good! exceeded my expectations..Version: 1.2.1

Robust Banking AppThe app for online banking with Truist is fully charged with useful features allowing users to do almost everything that is needed within the app: check balances, setup check clearing notification, deposit posting notifications, card use functions from charges above your choice notifications to turning your card off, account functions including remote deposit of paper checks of which I was initially hesitant to use but with weather issues and Covid issues I decided to try and twice now has worked easily without any complications. I’m someone who believes the star rating system for apps is seriously broken because people rate at 5 stars if something works as expected which to me is a 3 star, a reflection of the broken system is when people say they would give more than 5 stars if they could, my giving this app 5 stars means it works much better than I expected and has a wealth of utility beyond my expectations which work well..Version: 1.4.1

Slow user interfaceApp works on par with other banking apps of the type, but suffers from the same sluggishness navigating menus made worse by a total lockout of input when changing menus along the bottom bar (loading circle prevents user input after accidental selection). Every thing selected requires 2-3 seconds of loading and nothing is preloaded, presumable for security but at this point I’m logged it and this just makes repetitive tasks such as checking if multiple checks have cleared a slow and tedious process. Additionally, the amount of vertical room every item takes up when scrolling transactions is excessive, finances should be clear and concise and definitely should not scroll through offers while reviewing transactions. Would like the deposit history to go back further because scrolling through all account transactions looking for deposits is slow. The way the screen blanks out during app switching is also annoying when trying to use the calculator at the same time, but again all banking apps now do this. Still more convenient than driving to the bank but could definitely be cleaned up and sped up..Version: 1.7.0

This is getting tiresomeAs I have moved North and I am no longer so physically close to Truist branches, I really depend on the mobile deposit function. I am repeatedly told by the app that my deposit amount entered does not match the amount on the check, even though any human being would clearly see that it does. This happens most times I try to deposit a check. Then I try a few times in different ways… nothing works. Then some time hours or days later I try again and it works. This is starting to get very annoying. Looking at other reviews, it is clear that this problem is common. Even if Truist desperately wants to keep this broken feature that claims to prevent people from depositing checks of the wrong amount, it would be great to at least have an option to “dispute” the machine’s stupidity. Just being turned away repeatedly for trying to deposit my money to my account (which is a basic, needed function) without any way to fix this is really not a good way for Truist to operate. This has been broken for several months now. It would be good if someone did something about this common problem….Version: 1.6.1

AwesomeQuick, easy, accessible and convenient, this is definitely banking made easy and I couldn’t be happier. I just wish they didn’t charge any over draft fees. I wish that instead of even allowing an “overdraft” to happen it simply voided the said purchase if there are 0 funds, like it’s not fair to charge extra, it makes no sense from a consumers point of view. I understand maintaining fees but if your customer hasn’t the funds, it’s kind of like being a bully to punish them for that! We didn’t choose to exist in this world of money and some people don’t need it, anyway. You should just be happy that you have millions of customers. If millions of people had no money, why is that a problem? It’d be revolution. The economy has to evolve too, biology isn’t alone in this. We shouldn’t stick with old methods if they are not working- we must change with the times. Maybe simply have free accounts - you would be a leader in positive change!.Version: 1.7.0

Not a fanI REALLY dislike Truist. They separate the bank from the customers and the app changes are absolutely silly. They aren’t geared to the customer and when there is a problem with your account it’s difficult to actually get anything resolved. Payments made to credit cards on the app can take days to actually hit the credit card even though the payment is immediately deducted from your account. This tells me Truist is collecting interest on this floating money from all of their customers. This never happened with Suntrust. I dislike that the app has changed the color designation for credit/debit on the accounts. I’ve had pending transactions floating on my account for up to 7 days after it’s actually gone through my account. It’s as if the computer can’t properly process. I hope if someone is looking for a new bank they take the time to read reviews, pick ANY bank other than Truist. I really, really dislike Truist and it’s a HUGE PITA to switch financial institutions now and those institutions are taking advantage of the inconvenience to the customer..Version: 2.8.0

Maybe they fixed it?I was a bit hesitant to download after seeing all the negative reviews. I downloaded this morning and haven’t experienced any issues so far. (I’ve only logged in twice, including with Touch ID, and clicked into the various tabs, but no difficulty logging in or crashing or anything.) To me, the layout of menus seems similar to the U by BBT app. (I used mobile deposit and Zelle all the time, and these seem to be in approximately the same place.) Not difficult for me to read personally, but I can see how it could be. I didn’t really use the things that people are saying were removed like Quick Balance (were you actually able to see balances on the face of your phone without logging in? this seems like a security risk to me…) or credit score (other apps offer this capability for me). I always log out of the app every time rather than closing it out, just as a security check, so no issues there. I’ll update this review if I notice anything off, but seems easy for me to use so far..Version: 1.2.1

Please make some changes!I previously had a 1 star review. I’m upping it to four after they’ve made some changes. I’m still not a fan of the purple, but I’m super excited that they finally added the balance preview when you tap on the app! I never needed the widget and never felt comfortable having my balance displayed without unlocking my phone. But I’ve always been a fan of the balance preview without having to sign in, so im super excited that they’ve added this feature back! The only kinda BIG problem I have with is now is that they have an “X” on the log in screen view balance option. You tap that and the option goes away and i had to spend a few minutes going back through the settings to find where to turn it off and back on to bring it back. Can we please get rid of te exit option for tapping to see the balance? Or at least move it to the other side? Considering the majority of the people using this is right handed, it’s WAY too easy to accidentally close that out..Version: 1.4.0

New App… Needs An Update!I understand making us switch to the new app, but now that I have, I can no longer view my account balance from the side menu of iPhone (which was extremely convenient). WE NEED A WIDGET. Please include with the next update a Widget feature that you can add to the iPhone iOS Home Screen left side menu. The widget makes it easy to check the balance of your account without actually having to open the app and signin to check. This helps the user be more aware of the status of their account without having to actually do anything… Like go into the app specifically and then have to login, that can be a hassle if you are only checking the balance to ensure there is nothing wrong with the account or to catch any fraudulent transactions early on. With a WIDGET on the side menu, the user can easily see their daily balance along with their other widgets used to manage their lifestyle. Thanks for reading. Please add a “bank account balance” Widget in the next update to solve this issue..Version: 1.3.1

Payments PendingIf I make a payment to a credit card it will not show the pending payment on the credit card. This is so confusing and leaves me wondering whether I’ve actually submitted the payment or not. This app makes me feel like I’m losing control over my money and not sure where it’s going and when it is going. I know others who have had the same problem and have even over paid on their credit cards. BB&T use to notify you if you went to make another payment in the same amount and ask if you were sure (as a reminder that you’ve just tried to pay it already). This app needs a lot of work. Also highly disappointed because our BB&T is closing permanently and I will have to travel 30 minutes to get to a Truist. Having a bank within 5 minutes of where I live was a great convenience. Truist in the Tazewell County area will probably lose tons of business because of this..Version: 1.4.0

Why fix it if it isn’t brokeThe suntrust mobile banking webpage provided easy access to accounts, deposits, and bill payment. Bill payment at Truist is awkward, allows only one transaction at a time and is cumbersome. In addition, the pinkish color combinations are difficult for people with vision issues. This is just one issue that I find Truist to be unfocused on customers. Another is staffing at the Plaza America office where I had to wait at least 15 minutes for walk up service. There was one teller, another who look at her computer, saw the lines and went back to her computer. Further, there were two of three management staff who were not assisting anyone and made no attempt to assist in serving customers. Finally, the office is now closed on Saturday. If you’re working 5 days a week, when can you do your in-person banking? Take a day off? Or, use the very inconvenient mobile banking website? It appears Truist wants everything to be all electronic as we become robots to your systems. Urgh !.Version: 1.4.1

The app is terribleThe layout is pretty much BB&Ts old app with a purple background but I’m not here to give a review of the app design I’m writing this review on how many bugs this app has. When I first downloaded the app I had issues logging in due to a password bug and had to wait an additional 3 days to log in for them to fix it. I also came across another log in bug where it says the session is expired while I am logged in. Now it being a multibillion dollar company I don’t understand why they’re having app issues, if they would have stuck with the old BB&T app but changed the name we all wouldn’t be having these issues. I personally don’t use any other features on the app but to save and check my balance but even then on multiple occasions I had an invalid balance meaning some days I woke up to a couple of thousands in my bank account which wasn’t mine or a balance from two weeks ago. Truist you need to fix the app if your developers are that terrible it’s worth firing them and hire a team who actually knows how what they’re doing..Version: 1.3.1

Almost changed banks at one pointAt first I was very disappointed in Truist when they first took over from Sun Trust. Customer Service was horrible and I needed Internet help with my Account. I was sent to a lady in the Philippines who wasn't very helpful. I called back later and got the very same person. She finally transferred me to some sort of Internet Truist customer service and I waited one and one half hours and still couldn't get through. I let my local bank know how dissatisfied I was with Truist customer service. I spent several hours working on my issue and with the help of Apple Customer Service, i was able to solve my problem. The Truist Web site (bill pay) seems to be working well now and I have been using it successfully now for several weeks with no issues. I have been a Sun Trust customer for 42 years so decided to stick it out even though at one point I was ready to switch banks.......Dave Hannah.Version: 1.4.1

I want my Suntrust app back.We were forced to switch to the Truist app because of the merger. I read the reviews for the Truist app and saw a very low rating. I was hoping I wouldn’t have the same troubles as other people was having. Like the app having a hard time recognizing a check I was trying to deposit. I even had the person take their time when writing out a check to me and made sure it was written neatly and legible. Well, that did not matter, I still had to go to the bank to deposit it because it said the amount did not match. Another issue I keep getting is when I do one thing in the app, it wants to time out if I try to do another thing. Soooo frustrating. I’m going to give Truist one month to fix these things or I will be looking for another bank with a better app. The merger took over a year to do, one would think they would have fixed all the bugs with this app..Version: 1.2.1

ImprovingGetting much better. Still plain Jane, but it works okay. Sometimes I have to scroll wayyyyyy down the page to see account details, but at least the app starts in a timely manner and doesn’t crash all the time. Please add a widget! — Previous review 4 months ago: I could live with this app being unattractive and ultrabasic, but a good half of the time, it won’t even start. The app thinks for a while, then its brain explodes, and I get a warning, visible long enough to know there’s been an error and not long enough to know what the error was. When the app does start, it still has to mull things over for a while before it manages to serve up the login screen. I’d very much like the BB&T app back, which worked 95% of the time AND had a home screen widget with account balances (obviating the need to login most times). This app only gets two stars because once it starts, it works fine..Version: 1.5.1
