MealBoard - Meal Planner App Comments & Reviews
MealBoard - Meal Planner Positive Reviews
Award winning…..in my opinionI rarely ever write reviews, to be honest. But I want to shout this one from the mountain tops! Where has this been all of my life? I have never been a meal planner. I pull something out for dinner and decide what to make from there. But hey! I am LOVING this! I host a FB group called From Pantry to Table and share recipes from all over all day long. This app helps me to organize and keep my favorite recipes. I will be importing a lot of recipes! This will help me keep tabs on what I have on hand. I’m trying to whittle it down actually. I just went through an ad and created my shopping list from there. I’m adding what we still need to the grocery list. I love that I can just send the grocery list to my significant other by text or email. I love planning what is for dinner, in advance now. Oh geez! Did I just admit that? The importing of recipes is virtually seamless. I love it! This will help us remember where we bought things. That’s huge! I’d love to see another tab where we can just list items we have to use up, so we keep them top of mind. In the meantime, we’ll do a small whiteboard in our house. I’d love a feature to somehow leave our recipe account willable to family. We don’t want to lose these recipe treasures now! At least this is printable! That helps. I know I will have more ideas. This app is really blowing my mind on ways to use it. I love it and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this app!.Version: 4.1.16
Absolutely wonderfulI love love love this app. I'm not an app person at all. I use only two apps on a daily basis and this is one of them. It made my life so much easier and so much more organized. All modules are great but the best is that I can park my car on the way home in front of a grocery store and have a shopping list within 5 minutes for everything that I need for the whole week of meals. I also use it for non-recipe items like milk, bread, butter, etc. I don't buy more than needed thus I don't waste food, i.e. money, but have everything for the recipes. You will be able to get more recipes than you will ever need with two click per new recipe. What a time saver! My favorite site is Weber, because we like grilled food and his recipes are exceptional, but you will also be able to import recipes from website not listed as supported. Someone complained about lost recipes. It has never happened to me, but even if, you should know that our recipes are backed up on weekly basis. All you have to do is to contact Ray, the app developer, and he will help you with that. He has been very responsive with any questions I've had in the past and his support is great. I have been using this app for at least 2 years now and thought I should post a review to say how much I appreciate it. It would be very hard now to live without it!.Version: 3.5
Best recipe and shopping app everI have loved using this app ever since my cousin told me about it a few years ago. Our family of four each have it on our phones, linked, so no matter who is shopping, alone or multiple people at once, we can sync as we shop and get everything on our list correctly. The recipe import function was great and has gotten better with some recent updates such as the option to import ingredients as a text list. The “description “ field is a little hit or miss in terms of what is brought over from web pages. The one thing I always add manually to the description is a note of how many servings are in the original recipe, so that I can refer to that if there’s some part of the directions that makes reference to a specific quantity, especially when ingredients are meant to be divided (such as “add 1/3 cup of the flour”). I also routinely edit directions to add alternative instructions for Instant Pot and for Thermomix, two favorite appliances in our kitchen which take a little experience to know how to convert instructions. MealBoard makes it so easy for the whole family to shop and cook as a team! My only wish is that it be developed for other platforms so all my friends and cousins can use it..Version: 4.0.6
Love this app!!!I’ve been using MealBoard daily for several years. This is my favorite app on my phone. While it comes with recipes, I entered all my own recipes and it was worth the time spent. I add recipes I want to make for the week, sync with my grocery list, and use the grocery list while shopping, checking off items I put in my cart. Sometimes, I stop at a grocery store without a shopping list prepared and add meals while there onto the meal calendar and sync with my grocery list and I’m all organized. No more forgetting what is in a recipe or forgetting to buy certain items. I can also email the shopping list to another family member to shop for me. If I want to text a shopping list, I just copy it from the email into a text. Each day, I can look at the calendar and see what I had planned to make, and then view the recipe for ingredients and directions. No need to pull out the cook book. This is also handy when I’m cooking on vacation or at someone else’s home. I can also easily edit the recipe to add important tips I discover as I’m preparing it. If I want to share recipes with friends, I can email them right from the app. If I want to print a recipe so my child can make it without looking at my phone, I can do that right from the app as well. I absolutely love this app!.Version: 3.7.3
Great time and money saver--LOVE this app!Another update: still using the app years later, and it just keeps getting better. I can’t think of any “wish list” items that haven’t been implemented. The import from websites has improved a lot, and even when I don’t expect it to work well I’m pleasantly surprised. A keeper! Update: the developers listened to the "upload/download" concern and fixed it and of course there's an iPad version too. I do wish we could sync meal plans and shopping lists between devices, not just recipes. The ability to import recipes is awesome--I am constantly trying new things from Food Network and now many other websites. Love the new features! This is EXACTLY what I needed and we use it virtually every day! Original: We are "those people" who were eating out 5-6 days a week, but since I've started using Meal Board we are enjoying meals at home, spending less, eating more healthfully and saving lots of time! I love the online counterpart and only wish it were more robust, and that the upload/ download were a little more mistake-proof. I too look forward to an iPad version so my DH and I can share ideas in one place. All in all, I am very satisfied. This app is one of my "go-to"s!.Version: 4.1.9
Love It!I absolutely love this app. It is so very customizable and I’ve been importing / entering recipes for two days straight now. About 20 years ago I tried a meal planning software called MasterCook. It was great for its time, but it was so unwieldy that I soon gave up. Because of that poor experience I have avoided this type of app until now. I use it on my iPad, which means I have a beautifully laid out recipe card to follow. I love that it generates a customizable shopping list that I can send directly to my printer. I’m sure that if I were more organized I would find the pantry portion something I couldn’t live without.... but I’m not there yet. Plus, I’m 67 and if I want something from the store I simply send my husband. For some reason he enjoys getting out of the house! The other thing I just love is that for recipes that I key in myself the app lets me browse and find whatever picture I want to use. And I found some really, really nice pictures. Makes me look like a star! And, last but not least, to be able to back everything up to the cloud so I don’t lose everything the next time I drop my iPad in the pool..... perfect. So, thank you. I almost never ever pay fir an app... but this one is worth every penny..Version: 3.6.9
No more food waste! The cost of this app is easily made back by how much money I’ve saved not having to throw food away! Not only does it let you figure out exactly how much you need for your weekly recipes before going shopping- you can also add & sort by expiration dates to the pantry. I feel like this feature is so critical, at the start of the week I can sort by expiration date and choose recipes to make sure I use everything before it goes bad. As a single student on a tight budget this is a must have! I would love to see some improvement to the scheduling portion of the app. 1. Bulk add from pantry to a meal Ex- If I’m going to have a variety of veggies with a dip for lunch, this really doesn’t justify making a recipe but it gets tedious to add each item individually. 2. Add a take out meal to the calendar. I’d like to be able to have a write-in option for a meal rather than being required to put in a recipe or pantry item. Ex- I know I’m getting take-out or going to an event with dinner I’d love to be able to write that in on the calendar to visually see my meals for the week. Would also love to see integration with grocery store apps in the future to help clip coupons!.Version: 4.1.2
Great app!Love Love LOVE!!!!!! This app! It is revolutionizing my meal planning! I especially love that I can import my favorite healthy recipes in off my favorite websites. Saves me so much time. Of course I also like that I can add my own or old family recipes. Populates my a grocery list, that's me add the recipes to my weekly meal plan, then it remove the groceries items from the pantry when I make a recipe. Just can't get over how much I seriously Love this app! 1. It would help if we could share recipes on Pinterest to brag to our friends about what a great app this is. It's also free advertising for this app. 2. Additionally, when you go to move items from your shopping list to the pantry you have to click on a trashcan icon. This confused me for a while and I thought that the app did not move shopping list items to the pantry. I stopped using the app for a long time until I discovered the move to pantry option I was searching for was in the trashcan... It would be less confusing if you change the trash can icon or make two separate icons for deletion (trash can) and for groceries being moved to the pantry (maybe a door). Just a suggestion :) Thank you for creating this awesome app!.Version: 3.6.4
Remarkably feature-rich recipe and meal plannerI cannot sing the praises of MealBoard to manage recipes, menus, and grocery lists enough. It’s refreshing to buy an app outright and not have to pay a monthly fee or tolerate ads. Ray has made an incredibly robust and user-friendly app that allows me to easily import and write recipes; maintain a grocery and pantry inventory; create menus; and generate shopping lists from the menu plus current inventory levels. The interface looks clean and is simple to use. Additionally, I recently had an issue I created by installing the app on my iPad (formerly only on my iPhone) and failing to sign in before I entered a LOT of recipes and new inventory items. As such I wasn’t able to maintain this work and also assign it to my actual account once I realized what I had done. Ray had this resolved for me in a day and I didn’t lose any work. In addition to the work he’s already done to build this fantastic app, his commitment to maintaining and improving it for his customers is what we should hope to experience from all sellers/companies but in most instances that just isn’t the case. I highly and whole-heartedly recommend this app. Happy cooking!.Version: 3.9.5
Amazing! The best thing about this app is the ability to smoothly, seamlessly import recipes. I have been frustrated by Pepper Plate which had limited success at importing recipes. Mealboard seems to be able to correctly pull in any recipe accurately from pretty much anywhere. If I find a recipe on the web that I want to save, I simply copy the link. When I open Mealboard and tap on “import Recipe” it automatically grabs the link from my clipboard and pulls in that recipe like magic. The only exception I have found is NYT recipes. I suspect the NYT blocks it on their end because they want you to use their app. The organization and search are very good. I can customize categories and edit recipes as needed. The only improvement I would hope for is a minor one - the ability to re-order the ingredients list on an imported recipe. I orginally downloaded it to do meal planning to help shake up our same old routine and make sure i was using up some ingredients that were otherwise going to waste. It is great for that but I love it for the import feature. Overall, I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking for a way to keep track of recipes and plan meals..Version: 3.9.4
Loving itFor years, we’ve been using a home-built database app that does much of what this app does. Over time, the custom app has become increasingly difficult to maintain (and we’re letting it go), so this has been a perfect solution! I like being able to enter/import (especially import!!) recipes on the computer, select weekly menus (and cook) from the tablet, then shop from my phone. Everything stays in sync. Normally we pick out six recipes for the week and then cook them in whatever order we feel like or have time for. Having to assign meals to a certain day takes away that flexibility, and this was a big negative for me at first. Over time we’ve gotten used to dragging and dropping recipes from one day to another and reorganizing as we go. Pretty amazing and easy! The pantry function is a bit confusing, but it’s more of a bonus than a requirement. After trying several apps, I’m glad I found this one. Very happy with it, and the whole family has access to the evening’s dinner plans and shopping list. Best of all: one-time purchase with no ridiculous subscription plans!.Version: 4.1.8
Excellent!I think I’ve rated this app before but I love it so much I’m happy to again proclaim how amazing it is! Literal life changer. I’m not kidding. This made meal planning and grocery shopping so efficient I got my weekends back. I was grandfathered into the free app but paid the app $ voluntarily to show support. We have used this for years. I’ll find recipes while sitting on the couch watching a movie and just import stuff and then pop stuff that sounds good into a weekly menu, sync the grocery list and order a Walmart delivery or pickup. It feels like I hardly have to expend any energy on the chore of feeding my household. The kids are gone now but we had an iPad in the kitchen and one of the kids or my husband would check what’s for dinner that night then get started on prepping and cooking and we were all able to share in the task so nobody had to manage it all. It sounds corny but I’m so grateful to these developers for giving me my life back. It was so exhausting to think of ideas and make the list and do the shopping and put the groceries away and etc etc. Between this app and grocery delivery I’m a free woman!.Version: 4.1.10
Must have app if you like to be organized.I’ve been using this app for at least 5 years now. So many useful features like being able to import recipes from many food sites. The best thing for us is planning the entire week of meals. It compiles all of the ingredients onto a shopping list so you don’t have to. If you’re dieting or trying to eat healthy, half of the battle is food prep and organization. The shopping list categorized the items into the grocery store sections so you’re not zigzagging around when shopping. It has so many other features I don’t use like store preference or item pricing for budgeting. I would highly recommend this app. In fact, you’re wasting your time time if you don’t at least keep your normal grocery list on it. You always have your phone, so you always have your list. You should keep all your recipes here. Then when you’re at the store and have an epiphany to make something that night you hadn’t planned, there’s all the ingredients on your phone. Get it if you want to make your cooking life simpler..Version: 4.0.3
Seems Almost perfectI just started using the app and I have high hopes for it being the meal planning / kitchen organizing app I always wanted to have. But there is one big reason why I’m not using it very much: importing/inputting recipes to MealBoard is a huge put off when compared to my current grocery/recipe app: AnyList. AnyList is near perfect at importing recipes and super easy because it ads a share-menu command to Safari allowing 1 -tap entry of on-line recipes. No need to copy and paste URLs. It also does an amazing job of parsing recipe data that is pasted into the app. So it’s super easy to copy an emailed recipe and paste it in. I can also use the Mac version of AnyList to more quickly type in recipes. But AnyList does a horrible job of creating a grocery list from more than one recipe. It also does not have the ability to enter and keep track of items in the pantry. And right now their devs are adding stuff I really don’t need or want (Alexa integration) instead of improving the functionality of it. That is whyI really want to use this app as my only Grocery/Recipe app. But until getting the recipes into this one is easier I’m still using AnyList everyday and putting MealBoard on the back burner..Version: 3.6.2
Great meal planning appI’ve been using this app for almost a year now. Learning its capabilities and how to use the app was a little difficult at first but now that I’ve learned what it can do and with the improvements implemented its really a great app. I recently used the shopping list for the first time and it made shopping for my ingredients so much easier because it tells you how much you need of each item so that you can buy the right amount. The absolute best part of the app is the ability to import recipes. At first the import feature didn’t seem to work so well or maybe is was the website from which I was trying to import but I just imported about 10 recipes this week and all imported fairly well. You have the ability to make adjustments or corrections to the imported recipe if needed. It will include a link to the original recipe so that you can easily go there if you want to see the original recipe website. I’m working on my Thanksgiving meal plan and recipes now. It’s definitely worth the price..Version: 3.7.1
Works great for meAfter looking at several other meal planning apps, I found this one. You do need to load a bunch of recipes when you get started but they have a search feature that gives you access to dozens of recipe sites so you can quickly upload new recipes to the app. I also created my own "recipes" so I can put non recipe type meals on the menu (e.g.: "turkey sandwich" for lunches or "stuffed baked potatoes" for dinners). I email the menu to myself and then print out the menu from my email to post on the fridge. I love the shopping list. I don't have the patience to manage my pantry, but I will just check off all the shopping list items I know I have at home before I go shopping. I also share the menu to my ICal which allows me to see what's for dinner when I'm at work. It would be great if it had a sign in, so that my phone app and my iPad app would be able to sync. Overall, I find this app simple to use and customize and has saved me time and money by reducing over-buying of food..Version: 3.5
Best InvestmentWhat a fantastic app! I have been using it for about 1 1/2 years now and I don’t know how I lived without it! So worth the nominal app fee. Over the first 6-8 months, I slowly added recipes as I made them but I made it last winter’s project to get them all added...1900+ in total. This app saves time - no lost time trying to decide what is for dinner tonight and quick assembly of your shopping list. I love being able to access from anywhere: my phone on the go, my iPad in the house, my laptop for recipe entry. My family can even check what is for dinner and add meals they have been craving. There are very few issues, if any, but on the rare occasion an external website changes and recipes can no longer be imported properly, support is quick to respond to the report and resolve. The only thing I would like to see in the app is the ability to save a favorite meal (main and side combo). There is a template to save a weeks worth of meals but I’d like to be able to drill down a bit further..Version: 3.7.3
Even more than I was looking for!I’ve been using this app for a little over a week, and have been busily entering recipes, doing meal planning, and using the shopping list. Haven't yet approached the pantry inventory, but may with my pantry staples. Love that I can create templates of meal plans for future use, and love that it puts my recipe ingredients on my shopping list. Yes, its work to set up. But once a recipe is entered, I can tap to add it to my calendar, and tap to create a shopping list, and tap at the store to mark the item in my grocery cart (and tap again to add to the pantry if I decide to go that far!). Over time, this app is going to save me time - just with the grocery list alone, not to mention having a plan for meals. Downloading recipes so far has been simple, with minor edits required, and love that all of it is synched between my ipad where I do the entry, and my phone where I do my shopping - not to mention having recipes with me for spur of the moment plans!.Version: 3.6.9
So far, no complaintsI recently switched from Menu Planner to MealBoard because the developer never seemed to get the barcode scanner to work. I'm getting used to the functionality of this app and it's comparable, if not better. Importing recipes is definitely easier and has more compatible sites. I use Pinterest a lot, so I just copy the URL from the recipe's site and copy it here and auto import fast and easy. Even using the "tool" function to import recipes is efficient (although obviously not better). I look forward to setting up the pantry and freezer in the app to start tracking inventory! ***update*** I would like the developers to consider including an option to mark a pantry item (i.e. corndogs) as a recipe/side dish that can be added to the menu **and reduce inventory** instead of having to create a new recipe to update the pantry or manually updating the pantry for that item....I haven't been able to "quick add" a pantry item to the menu planner..Version: 3.5
Robust!I just downloaded this app and have started adding my favorite recipes. First impressions, the app has all the features I am looking for in a meal planner. Calendar, shopping list, recipe box, in addition to pantry tracker and even the ability to customize the stores you shop at and which stores you buy certain ingredients. Importing recipes is easy but does require going in for some quick edits most times. The only thing that I see as being a potential annoyance is that when the same ingredient is entered a little differently now different recipes, it adds both versions to the master list. If they're organized by the same category, it shouldn't be terribly annoying, but if you don't like redundancy, it will probably bug the crap out of you. You can definitely spend hours fine tuning this app to fit your needs which makes it a powerful tool..Version: 4.0.4
Seems to cover it all!Hello! Ive had the app for about a month and so far I love it! It seems to be very thorough and well written. I trusted many of the outstanding reviews on my decision to purchase this app. I do like to hear that there is no monthly fee and the developer stays well connected for suggestions, feedback, follow-up. Sounds like Ray knows customer service, which is often hard to find these days! I have many recipes, but enjoy being able to import MANY others. I still need to learn how/why to write “templates”, but I figure that will come with time as I proceed to explore the app. Thanks to all the great reviews (good and maybe not so good) bc again, I feel this is REAL, LIVE input from REAL people! I’m hoping Ray isn’t going anywhere and hope if we lose him somehow, we will still be able to continue using the app as we purchased, with all the fantastic features! Cheers to Ray!!.Version: 4.1.2
Fantastic App!And I don't do reviews! This is a first—but this app is really amazing. I selected it following research a couple of years ago for my wife thinking it would be "kinda nice." My wife is super organized, loves her recipes, really cares about her meal planning and has a demanding full time career as a an Psychiatric APRN. I do most of the actual grocery shopping. Wow—she really got serious about using Mealboard and it has amazed me how useful it is. Really exceeded my expectations. She has learned more and more and has a great data base now. We sync with my our iPhones and iPads. I can not imagine going shopping without using this app now. All our married kids now use it. It was really great for them to be able to log in on "moms" account - do a sync- and immediately get all of her data as a beginning base and then they all continued to modify their own apps on their own after that. Now they all swap and share recipes. When I help out with cooking (not one of my strong points) I'd be lost without Mealboard. So we always cook and shop with our iphone or iPad as the main control center. It takes a little learning curve but the effort you put in returns much more benefits. She can plan out cabin trip menus and gathering menus and just everyday menus and shopping lists really fast. I'm very impressed. It's been a blessing for us. I highly recommend it!! Well worth it!! Keep up the great job..Version: 3.6.6
Import feature worth the $This app was exactly what I was looking for. I love it so much! Whenever I see a recipe on Facebook or ANYWHERE that I want to try, I just copy the link and quickly import it into the app. I love that I can organize the recipes into categories of my choice. I have a special potluck category so anytime I am going to a party, I know exactly what I can make. It is super easy to grocery shop with this app, too. You can organize the grocery aisles to match your store. It doesn’t take a lot of battery life at the store to have the checklist up. When you meal plan, you can import the shopping list to the exact days you need to shop for. I have even recently enjoyed printing the shopping list. If your phone and your printer are both on wi-fi, you can quickly print the list off. This app is everything that I was looking for, and more. It was worth paying for, and that is a rare thing in an app..Version: 3.7.4
Helps us (indirectly) to lose weight. We use MealBoard on one iPhone and two iPads. Having so many options for sharing allows the two of as to coordinate (as a couple) and see the meal plan as it fits into our schedules. I am a big fan of the app, I love the pantry function and the ease of creating a grocery list. Being able to edit the categories and the aisles to the ones that I prefer is a big plus for me. I love how they’ve kept it simple and somewhat "text" oriented rather than "graphics" oriented. I don't need for it to be fancy, I just need for it to work! And it does! I had gone away from the routine of meal planning for quite a while and am returning to having it in my weekly approach. What I have found, by using MealBoard over the years, is that it helps me to more successfully work my WeightWatchers program. It was fun to fire-up MealBoard once again in tandem with my return to WeightWatchers..Version: 3.6.7
Love this!I love this app! I have it on my phone, my iPad, and my husband’s phone. He loves that he can add things to the grocery list and it will sync automatically, and that he always knows what’s for dinner. I love that it keeps all my recipes and I can read them on the iPad while cooking. I also love that it’s easy to remember all the options you have for dinners when making the meal plan for the week. I even include things like “frozen pizza” and “not here for dinner” as recipes, so that we can really see every option for busy nights. I’ve emailed with the app’s developer, and he’s really open to adding in new features and making it better. He told me he’s currently working on giving the website all the features the app has, which I think will be great too! Overall, this app saves me a couple hours each week, and streamlines everything so I never forget anything at the store. Awesome!!.Version: 3.6.9
*Updated* Needs work for the same issues**Updated** -There are still a lot of tweaks that need to be made in the app. I’ve added my email to the account but it is always saying that I don’t have one set up for it. I do, and it shows that I do. The shopping list and the quantity tab needs to be worked on still. I’ll select an item, put in an amount but it will almost always disappear or change when I click back into my master shopping list and this is so annoying especially when I’m actually getting my groceries. The syncing feature isn’t that smooth between devices, I find that I have to push sync on both apps a lot and close down the app for it to update properly. Debating on rating this a 3 or 4 star. I really like the app but it has had the same problems for forever now. So I’m rating it a 3. **Previous Rating** I've been looking for a meal planning app for a while and was recommended by a friend to try this app out. It's such a great tool! I love that it's easy to use..Version: 3.8.7
Love!I dont use all the features, but I would be lost without this app! Importing a recipe from the web takes seconds and includes a link back to original source so you can refer back to special notes or reviews that might have been posted with original recipe. I have actually created a “sewing projects” category and saved links back to projects I want to find again! (In this case the auto import does not work since there is technically no “recipe” but by using the tool option I save a picture and the title , and sometimes the materials needed) As others have mentioned, the ability to create a shopping list in minutes from nearly anywhere is also a life saver, and if you keep up on your “pantry inventory” (I Don’t) you wouldn’t even end up with duplicate jars of that spice you almost never use, but cant recall if you actually have it anymore lol.Version: 3.7.3
Best App I Have Ever PurchasedI have been using this app for maybe 10 years now and it is a lifesaver. 🙏🏻 I love that I can paste in a link to have everything sorted out into a list and directions that I can check off along the way. I just noticed scanning is now also an option 👏🏼. My shopping list comes together in seconds after adding meals for the week. I have one meal that is “weekly staples” so I check to be sure if we have eggs, butter, etc…. On day I will use the pantry, but need to have kids out of the house to be sure things stay accurate. I now have nearly 500 recipes and do have a little feature request/idea. I would love and would pay to be able to export my recipes into a little cookbook one day. 📕 Would be so cool to hand down to my kids and use as gifts..Version: 4.1.2
Love this app but few improvements neededGreat app with potential to be perfect. Cons: When you add grocery items from recipe to shopping list, you can’t select which grocery store to add it to. Also there’s nowhere to store repeat items that you could easily add to your list. I also like being able to see more of my list at once, so a smaller font/spacing option would be nicer. However, in the grand scheme of things it’s a great app with a lot of pros: smooth interface, iPad compatible for planning, recipe imports are quick and efficient, you can choose a photo from the internet for your recipes really easily (which makes your whole app look nicer) and the meal planning ability is seamless and you can save templates (one of my favorite features). The only feature I never use is pantry - it’s too difficult to track every item in your pantry at all times..Version: 4.1.8
Great app almost perfectI do like the app but it is at times difficult to get the desired results when importing and inputting recipes. It needs to use the pantry as defaults on imports and inputting recipes. I would like the menu to be able to be placed instead of the bottom an option for either left or right and also to be able to hide it when wanted. The text editor could use some glossing up and beefing up and to utilize cooking measurements and the fractional items to not be a 1 then a / then 2 for one half. Give us fractions it takes too much actual typing to again get the desired results. Make it easier to format the recipes with buttons for recipe links, headers ect… For recipes that have videos how about the option to play them from the app? As a final upgrade how about being able to click on a time and set a timer?.Version: 4.1.10
Imports any recipeThis app has lots of cool features that I keep meaning to try but I find it invaluable for the things I use it for all the time. It has become the only place I store all of my recipes. I love being able to scale recipes. Favorites that I wouldn’t bother to make just for me are much easier when the app scales the ingredients for me. My all-time favorite feature though it recipe import. When I find a recipe in a blog post that I want to try I just copy the url and open MealBoard. When I click on Import Recipe it pastes the url and loads the site. I add categories and occasionally categorize an ingredient and it is done. It is so simple I import recipes I haven’t tried yet because it is easier than using the original site while fighting my way through a bunch of ads, and I can scale it to meet my needs. This app meets my needs very well..Version: 3.7.3
I love MealBoardI honestly would find it difficult to manage without MealBoard. I entertain quite a lot, sometimes multi course meals that require a lot of planning and preparation. It is great to be able to important recipes from virtually anywhere into the app, then add to my list of menu items on a given day, and generate a ready made grocery shopping list. I also love having a single repository of recipes where I can search. Also, the meal planner serves as a record of meals I have planned which is especially useful if I want to remember what I served for a particular dinner party. I would highly recommend this app for anyone who likes to save recipes, or create a recipe, plan a meal, have all the recipes nicely organized in your meal planner, and instantly generate a grocery shopping list!.Version: 4.1.16
My heart has been longing for this kind of appThis is hands down my new favorite app ever. It allows you to sooooooo quickly input online recipes and the recognition of directions, ingredients and categorizing ingredients is amazing. Then being able to add meals (and leftovers) to the calendar and save them as templates for future use?! GENIUS. AND, being able to download a grocery list from your date range and see what’s in your pantry already?! This. Is. Outstanding. My life is about to be made easy. I’ve already shared it with so many people the day I got it because I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. And I’ve tried MANY meal planning apps, but most of them have a bad grocery list creator or pantry inventory thing. This is just too good to be true!!.Version: 4.1.2
Close but not perfectTake this for what it’s worth, I just downloaded the free app and started playing with it. I can tell it is designed to help with meal planning, reducing food waste and to make shopping for meals easier. It appears to do this pretty well, however there are a few shortcomings. First is that the pantry list doesn’t seem to record the amount of an item. Which means there is no way for the recipe you select to determine if you have enough of an ingredient to make it or if you need to buy some from the store. In fact, when selecting a recipe and then sending it to the shopping list, it sent all the ingredients to the list even though I had some already entered into the pantry list. If the pantry and recipe list aren’t linked so that it updates the pantry list as you make meals then this is a big minus for me and you shouldn’t even bother with the pantry list..Version: 4.1.15
My Favorite AppThis app does it all!! I was searching for an app I could use to plan my meals, and came across MealBoard. It has surpassed my expectations. I read through each review since I was skeptical to spend money on something blindly. All of the reviewers left such positive reviews I was confident I would like it. Well, needless to say I LOVE IT!!! Here are all of the reasons you too should buy this app. 1) Easily plan your daily: meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. 2) Recipe Box to store all of your favorite recipes. You can easily look up any recipe online via the app, or link directly to your favorite recipe apps!! This is a HUGE plus! You can also type up your favorite family recipes and add them to the app. 3) Track the items in your pantry. This will save you guessing what you have at home when you forget to add an item to your grocery list. 4) Grocery shopping list. Easily add ingredients from your recipe to a list via the app. 5) Sync your devices so no matter which one you have you will see the same thing. All of that being said, spend the few dollars and invest a little time to set the app up with all of your favorite recipes and pantry items and the app will practically do the work for you!! You will not regret it. ENJOY!.Version: 3.5
Updated review: Still a staple in my kitchenThanks to the developer for keeping this app updated, and thanks for all the hard work poured into the app. Mealboard is a regular fixture in my kitchen, used for everything from pantry management to recipe scaling to shopping list creation to, yes, meal planning. Thanks, again! Updated July 26, 2020 -so many fantastic updates and I am still using this app after all these years. That tells me it was a fantastic decision, and one that I hope to keep using for years to come. I rail, rant, and otherwise absolutely fight against subscription models. However, Mealboard is one app that, if done right, I will purchase a subscription for. It is that vital to my kitchen. Updated July 30, 2021 - yep. You guessed it: still going strong. Thanks again to the developer!.Version: 4.0.6
Where has this app been all my life?I wanted an app to put all my recipes into, not show me other people's recipes, import from the web easily, allow search of recipes by one or more ingredient and one or more food type, allow meal planning, store and manage food inventory and grocery lists, show my recipes for which I have all ingredients available to cook on demand, backup to cloud for device sharing and without extra cost or subscription, and allow web entry of recipes but not require a client be downloaded and installed on a computer. I've tried several recipe-type apps over the years including Paprika, Pepper Plate, at least 5-7 others I can't remember their names right now. This might sound too flowery or enthusiastic but that's how I feel about this app. It's the only one I've found that does all of my wishes/requirements seamlessly and so well and for so little $! But it also does even more functions I didn't consider a must have like optionally tracking prices, doing something with coupons I haven't used but it's there, creating meal plan templates, and it's so customizable! What you get for this price is extraordinary in the app market and I'm so impressed and thrilled with it. Highly recommend!.Version: 3.9.5
This app does it allI’m both über organized and a dyed in the wool foodie. This app never disappoints. It does everything I could possibly think of and many things I would have never thought of. I’ve created or imported well over 150 recipes so far. Being able to import and alter any recipe I find interesting is awesome. Often I will use a recipe I find online as “inspiration” and then modify it to suit my personal tastes and lifestyle. Being able to assign a recipe multiple categories is a game changer. I can easily filter the list if I’m looking for a paleo appetizer using seafood, for example. I can take my recipes with me wherever I go. I use it in the grocery store frequently when I suddenly think of something I’d like to make but am unsure of the ingredients..Version: 4.1.13
Easy to use, flexibleI’m obsessed with organization tools. They help me best use my time and balance a busy work life. I’ve been using three different apps for recipes, grocery list and meal list. This app works well for all 3. I’ve only had the app for a few hours now but here’s my pro/con list this far. Things I like so far: • you can import recipes from websites • it has categories, ingredients, etc. setup already but you can edit and customize easily • you can create a grocery list from your selected meals and also add other items like milk (my previous app didn’t allow for adding non-recipe ingredients) • customer support responded to my email within minutes and was very helpful Cons: • there isn’t a place for nutrition information.Version: 4.1.8
One of my daily appsI’ve had this app for over a year... maybe over two years??? Can’t remember exactly when I downloaded it but love it. I have imported over 800+ recipes (no, I haven’t tried them all yet, there are an embarrassingly high number of dessert ones in there) Pros: *** I can put one recipe in numerous categories, making my narrowing down process quicker. *** I’m a more frugal and efficient shopper with the grocery list. *** Having the website link on the recipe makes it so easy when someone asks for the recipe (although you can email it too). I usually have to screenshot it because I typically alter the original. These are just a few of the pros, I could be setting here, typing all day, if I tried to list them all. Cons: Not many of these, but the only reason I didn’t give the app a perfect 5 stars and it wouldn’t let me give it 4.5. *** Originally, you could have the item price on each one of your grocery list items. I forget which update did away with that, but as a single mom, I greatly miss it. I tried moving on to other apps but it was just too much trouble, so I came back. *** It doesn’t communicate with Alexa (or Siri)... if this could be addressed, that would be sublime. All in all, a great app, one that’s on the first screen of my phone..Version: 3.7.3
Great app.I’ve used something similar but that vendor I think stop support even though it’s still in the App Store. This one is great. Has a shopping list that you can pull stuff you need from recipes. The importing recipes from websites is amazing. Even if you have to do it “manually” they make it really easy for you to do it especially importing ingredients. This is one of the apps I use daily. And the only weird thing I would say about this app is that it doesn’t default you to the current day when you open it. You have to choose a start date. And then you view the days that way. And then after the time view you choose is over, you have to go back in and choose another start date. It’s not a big deal. Not enough for me not to use this wonderful app.Version: 3.6.9
Grandma wishes she had thisOkay this is the absolute perfect app. I get so sick of the monthly premiums that apps similar to this make you pay. These guys did the programming, made it user friendly, and so you pay once. You can use the free version (limits to like 10 recipes) to try it out. I fell in LOVE. Budgeting is so easy now, my husband has the app so he can change what we want to eat that week. Now I don’t have 3 month old bell peppers dying in my fridge. Creates a shopping list according to my meals, gives me an option to add what I already have in the house. I can cook from scratch without worrying if I have everything. I used excel before this but this is laptop and phone friendly. Bravo. Such a simple app with so many capabilities..Version: 4.1.14
Almost what I’m looking for…I really like this app and it’s ALMOST perfect. I like that you can separate the items in your shopping list by store. My only problem is I can’t see the total at the top of the screen. It just says “$7…” and I can’t click on it to see it. So I don’t actually know how much I’d be spending. Also, is there a family sharing option between devices? My husband and I want something we can share for shopping purposes. He has a Google phone and I have an iPhone… And one last thing…for now. It would be awesome if you made it so I could write more than one shopping list. One for shopping, one for a future events, or whatever I need to shop for. I’m gunna keep it still, and I would love to purchase it once those things are available! I love that it’s a one time purchase and not a sub! So I greatly appreciate that. ☺️👍🏼.Version: 4.1.16
Worth paying for the full versionI really like how this app combines 3 things into one place: 1) the calendar to plan your meals 2) Your grocery shopping list 3) Your pantry (which in the past I used to have two separate apps to keep track) The game changer in my opinion is how you can move items from your shopping list to the pantry, huge time saver. I would have rated this app 5 stars but there were two things I was not able to get to work. One of them was Sharing the full version of this app with my family through the family purchases and the Apple store. I followed the instructions but could not get it to work on the 2nd device so I ended up paying for the full version on the 2nd device (but totally worth the money) now we can sync up. The second item is scanning the recipes from Books doesn’t really work on my end. When I scan the list of ingredients they get mushed up together and I just end up entering the recipe manually. importing the recipes from the web works really well, really awesome feature. one suggestion to the developers, if possible. If the ingredients on the pantry could show up on the recipes just to get a quick overview of what’s on hand..Version: 4.1.10
Really helpful and intuitive, easy to useBe sure to log-in to the website once you've synced. This is where you can modify and import recipes from Epicurious and other on-line recipe sites. Easier recipe entry there than via iphone. It's very easy to make out a weeks menu plan and aggregate all the shopping. I love that you see a list of what you need from the store and also a list of what you have at home. This helps when i'm cooking at a friends and need to pull from home stores. I really liked the sample of recipes they've already loaded on the app also. And the ability to email menus and email shopping lists is very handy. Well worth the cost for me. This app is saving me lots of time and we're eating much better, it's fabulous..Version: 3.7.3
An Excellent AppI love all the features, easy to import recipes from the web, pantry control, meal plan schedule. Is even easy to add your own recipes which later you can add to your mean plans. Would love to see the ability to add shopping lists to OneNote, the Note App or other notes apps. It has it’s little bugs but they do not interfere with the functionality of the app. Really love it. But my favorite feature on the app is how simple it is to import recipes. Even if the website is too complicated, you can still, with a little more work, import the ingredients, servings, steps, name and more with ease. This because a Meal Planner without recipes would not be a Meal Planner at all. And having to enter recipes by hand, after 10 recipes in a row, would be boring nightmare. So yes, I love the app, help me keep track of my meals, and once you set up your pantry, it helps you even keep track of your shopping needs. No more “I bought these by mistake twice” errors. Very powerful. I do recommend to buy the full version. The free version has a very short limit for recipes imports. But let me tell you, is totally worth it..Version: 4.1.2
Efficient meal planning toolI really like this app, and it has more than met my expectations. I was just looking for something that would allow me to schedule my meals, but I really like the ability to store my recipes and automatically create my shopping list based off the meal plan. I agree with the other reviews that it takes a while to set up, but I've just been adding recipes as I go so it hasn't been bad. The ability to import recipes from just about any site is amazing, and makes the entry process a breeze! Having everything in one place is amazing. I love being able to open up meal plan on my iPad while I'm cooking to get the recipes I need. The app is a bit clunky though and not so intuitive. Make sure you pay attention to the tutorials to pick up on the shortcuts, they are helpful..Version: 3.5
Flawless! SeriouslyThis app does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have never found an app that works perfectly, until this one. It imports recipes that are hidden in extraneous stuff and that are disjointed and intentionally segmented. And it does it just like you want. I’m amazed at how it finds and isolates ingredients and quantities. Looking for a recipe for the ingredients you have on hand? This suggests them. Need a shopping list for next weeks menus? This has it ready! Need to pass it along to another shopper? You can do it! Seriously, this app is flawless. It has a depth of development that constantly surprises me. There are many features I haven’t explored yet, but I am extremely happy with this app. I know you will be too!.Version: 4.0.5
Fantastic app!Love this app. I’ve always wanted a play to store digital recipes. This is a good app and easy to download recipes. Haven’t used the meal planner functionality yet, but plan to soon.Version: 4.1.16
Best meal planner everI love it so much 🤍🤍🤍 the *only thing i would change, is the ability to create an account that can be signed into from multiple devices. hope that will happen at some point but i am such a big appreciator of this app..Version: 4.1.16
I love mealbordIt is the best app for organized cooking and baking.Version: 4.1.16
Great app with one problemAmazing app that is incredibly useful. However, there's an issue with one of its main features that makes it useful. The feature that tracks when I last used a recipe is broken. Currently I have a recipe that I used last 2 weeks ago and it says that I last used it a month ago. This is an excellent feature that keeps me from making an item too often, but it's not particularly useful if it doesn't work properly. I'd absolutely change this review to a 5 stars if this was fixed..Version: 4.1.16
This has made being prepared so much easier. Thank you!Easy to use, I only wish the calendar had another view that you could zoom in and just see the current week at a glance (the font can be quite small).Version: 4.1.16
Cool Meal OrganizingI’m only just starting to use this app but it’s cool so far You can pull up recipes from anywhere and use the import function to keep them in your database. That, alone, has been very handy for me. I’m hoping to utilize this for meal planning as well but if it was only a database of meals I liked to make that is useful enough on its own.Version: 4.1.16
Helpful app for meal prep and makeThis app has been helpful in getting recipes and importing them..Version: 4.1.16
Everything I want in a meal appThis app is perfect if you like pinning recipes and cookbooks but want it all in one place that you will actually refer back to. No frills, great if you like reading and researching your own recipes. Also like how you can look at it in list form as well as in a grid form with pictures. I found the grid form with loud pictures competing for my attention in other apps to much. Suggestions for the developer: would love to see a way to back up recipes and a way to add categories to ingredients (e.g. I would like to add ‘Nuts and Seeds’ among other things). Thank you for this very functional app..Version: 4.1.16
Best App EverI got this app a few years ago and it is one of the few that I use multiple times a week. It is so simple and easy to use..Version: 4.1.16
Clearly to make plan for mealsI can clearly to plan what to eat for my family in advance. No need to worry about what should eat..Version: 4.1.14
Full featured appVery easy to use, doesn't require paid version to be very useful..Version: 4.1.14
OrganizedVery helpful at keeping the whole process of meal planning, shopping and recipes organized! I use it every day!.Version: 4.1.14
Absolutely Amazing!!This is my favourite app, its perfect for planning out meals or meal prep. Also its completely free! I like to put my own meals into the app.Version: 4.1.14
Intuitive and usefulI've tried a bunch of apps to "store" my own recipes and plan my meals and this app beats them all by far. I'm not using it for the pantry/shopping list stuff, only for recipes and meal planning. However, it is pretty useful when I'm figuring out what I need to buy since I only have to tap on it to know the ingredients! It just helps with organizing my week, you know. Here's a few other things I really like about the app: 1. I love the calendar view. It's very intuitive, you can just drag and drop every meal and it makes planning and switching up meals so much easier. 2. I love how the ingredients on the left can be striked through if you tap them, helps to know what's left while cooking. 3. The group header in ingredients!!! Very useful to organize things 4. The interface is clear, perfectly proportioned (like, the image of the recipe is small but visible, leaving space to the actual important information, unlike others apps who's image takes up the whole screen.) I just purchased the full version, although not needed at all since the app is totally functional without purchasing. So glad it's a one time fee for everything the app is worth!! Good job devs / designers :)).Version: 4.1.14
This deserves attentionWhat a simple and friendly user interface and how easy it is to import recipe! And to be able to import without limit with the current version. The calendar format is so clear. I love it! What a help!.Version: 4.1.14
THIS APP CHANGED MY LIFEI'm someone who loves to cook, hates routine, and has ADHD. This app takes some time to import recipes, but once you do there are a million ways this app makes meal planning, grocery shopping, and coordinating cooking/shopping with a partner or roomate/s. The paid version is 100% worth it, and I have told so many people to download this app, MealBoard should maybe sponsor me lol..Version: 4.1.14
Fantastic app!Flexible, inclusive and simple to use.Version: 4.1.14
Excellent and Versatile Recipe AppMealBoard offers multiple pathways to enter your collection of recipes! (eg importing from web browsers via a search engine, translating pics to text via OCR, manually entering) Within the app is its own search function, calendar connects to recipe files, grocery list function that can connect to your local grocery stores, print options, sharing recipes via email or texting. Visuals are a bonus that can either be imported from the web or accessed from your own library of photos. Navigating within is reasonably straightforward..Version: 4.1.14
Amazing AppI have never rated apps since most are ok, but this one is amazing! It’s has made the pain of meal planning and organizing grocery lists so simple and easy. If you properly set up you meals the it’s as simple as set it and forget it. Also having it all recipes in one place ensures you get a good rotation in and not searching for the recipe online or somewhere else. Recommend 1000%!.Version: 4.1.14
All it’s missing is integration with Google/Siri/AlexaIt has all the features I have been looking for: meal planning, grocery lists, customizable aisles based on stores, prices, etc. The only thing it is missing is integration with Smart Home devices such as Google Assistant, Siri or Alexa. I’m hoping to see that happen..Version: 4.1.14
Most Functional Recipe App I’ve Found. This app imports just recipes from just about any website and the shopping list syncs seamlessly with the meal planner. You can also set which stores and aisles you want to shop. It has sped up my shopping and saved me 100’s of times what I paid for it. My favourite recipe app of all time..Version: 4.1.14
Excellent Meal Planning AppWell worth the money to unlock the extra features. Importing recipes from links is simple and intuitive, and results in a consistent recipe format. Adding meals to the calendar as well as generating shopping lists is very straightforward. Sharing settings across multiple devices is seamless. I went thru a number of apps before I got to this one and even the free version of MealBoard has better default options than other, more expensive apps. Highly recommended..Version: 4.1.12
Great appIt would be great to have more options, that are available on the app, on the website version..Version: 3.9.3
FINALLY!Finally an app where I can meal plan, enter pantry items and make a grocery list. Literally the best! A few suggestions: add recipe difficulty option and a favourites options and a dark theme option :).Version: 4.1.10
Helpful but need improvementI like that I can see the meal planning in my calendar every day so we know what we have to prepare for that day. I hope that they fix the constant crashes when I’m putting the meals in the apps calendar. Also will be nice to have the opportunity to change a meal from one date to another easy..Version: 4.1.11
Simple and effectiveDoes what it says it will do. No ads which is fantastic. Use it everyday..Version: 4.1.10
Great AppTook some time to get use to using this app, LOL still learning it. I do love having the ability to import recipes easily and keeping track of my pantry/household goods. Seems to be coming more useful every day!.Version: 4.1.9

Can't sync to partner's deviceLove the app, simple and intuitive but to share it with my partner, it doesn't work well. Customer support hasn't responded. We are looking for a better app.Version: 4.1.9
Quick and easy to useQuick and easy to use.Version: 4.1.9
Great AppGreat App!!! I’m able to use this app with my husband and share our meals and grocery list. Love that I can sync and it updates on his device as well..Version: 4.1.9
😀This app is amazing! Never has meal planning been so easy. It holds all your recipes and is really user friendly..Version: 4.1.9
Great app, super usefulThe best thing about the app is not having to wade through a wall of text to get to a recipe you use consistently. Bit of a learning curve, but I’m looking forward to exploring the full version, which I just bought this morning. I’ve been using it for years, and it’s proven itself to be handy, and at times a life saver. No subscription rubbish, thank goodness..Version: 4.1.9
This is the best app ever!I have used this app for years and would be totally lost without it..Version: 4.1.9
Changed our livesThis app has really helped us reign in our dining out. Having a meal plan with ready to go recipes has been a game changer in our household. This app makes it’s easy. My husband and I each have the app on our phones so we can see everything. Everything is coordinated and making supper goes much smoother..Version: 4.1.9
Needs to open APIs and also provide integration to Alexa for shopping list etc.Great app. But too standalone for this day and age. Needs better integrations..Version: 4.1.9
Love this meal plannerBest meal planner I have ever used..Version: 4.1.8
AmazingJust what we’ve needed this whole time..Version: 4.1.5
Best meal app everLove this app, makes me meal plan every week easily..Version: 4.1.5
Love itEspecially the capture of recipes and tagging/categories!.Version: 4.1.5
Best App ever!Makes my life so much easier! It takes some time to upload all your recipes/ingredients but when that is done, your meal planning and shopping list take literally 5 minutes! Importing new recipes is very very easy. I am a big fan of app that can save me time and this one is by far my #1! Thank you for making this app available!.Version: 4.0.5
Some great features, but missing out.I really want this app to be great, but it lacks a few features to make the experience great. The basic features are all here - recipe importing, adding to a grocery list, pantry inventory and meal planning. But when I’m cooking, I don’t want to touch my phone and the app doesn’t offer Siri integration Or the ability to input items from Reminders. Ignoring that feature, the app does what is claims to do..Version: 4.0.6
Every organized person's dreamThis app has been very useful in helping me stay on budget and reducing food wastage. It's also great how you can email your shopping list to yourself or others and the list is in a checklist format!.Version: 4.0.3
MealboardSo far so good ,takes awhile to get to know how to navigate it..Version: 4.0.4
Well doneGreat support. App works as advertised. Makes meal planning and grocery lists a snap. Like the new format..Version: 4.0.2
