SoundPrism App Comments & Reviews

SoundPrism Positive Reviews

Good butSo I use this app when I just want to make something that sounds good, in the near future could you guys do something like show the Chord being played? Sometimes I find great sounding progressions but I don't have a strong enough ear for music to decipher the progression so then I don't know what I played sadly.Version: 2.8.5

GreatThis app just plays chords and lets you do amazing piano runs, but that's basically it. No built in arpeggios it anything that fancy. The built in sounds are nothing worth shouting about either. This app should be used as a midi controller, so you can control a nice piano app. It has built in routing options for its own midi output, no need for Audiobus or AUM. Buy this just for the excellent chords and runs. Then get something like Mozaic for arpeggios if want it to sound more natural..Version: 2.8.5

Crashes on ios 11.2 iphone 8 plusThis seems like a pretty nice app except for the fact that it crashes all the time while playing. It continues to run in the background but the screen disappears. Clicking on the background task states that it is “loading” the sounds again after which the display redraws. It will unfortunately crash again however. Not stable for use on iphone 8 plus ios 11.2.2.Version: 2.8.5

Pretty solid appWhat it does it does well solid interface just another app to collect tho.Version: 2.8.5

Fun and Educational! For the person who pays attention to the details of the layout and the sounds, it could bring about a greater understanding of music theory!.Version: 2.8.9

WHY DOESN’T THIS STORE RECORDINGS?!?!?SERIOUSLY!!!! It is fantastic, but if you record, and something happens and you do not get the transport, you are f’ed, lost all you recorded. Just allow in app recordings!!!.Version: 2.8.5

This is very coolSo far so good. I hope they keep adding and getting better..Version: 2.8.5

Very cool appJust wish i could test midi function to n trial version a bit..Version: 2.8.5

Best everThis is my favorite of all time apps. I use it all the time PLEASE keep supporting!! I'll pay anything!!.Version: 2.8.5

Beautiful Pad soundThis app is great as a songwriting tool, and the synth pad sound is soft and gorgeous.Version: 2.8.5

Cool appI really like this app.Version: 2.9.2

Interesting appFun for a while. I'm sure the variations are endless, but I find it channelling me too much into a particular set of progressions and melodic activity and harmony. It's fun to sound like you've got four hands, but that texture gets old, too. Make no mistake; this is a fun application, and as ONE of your keyboard controllers, it gives you options not really possible on regular keyboards. I just wouldn't want this to be the only thing I was using for any kind of performance or session. I wish it were easier to jump to other chord ranges, rather than stepping through one chord at a time. If there were some kind of master controller that would enable you to leap to any place in the entire range, without interrupting what you're doing, that would be most welcome. good work! Just don't stop here!.Version: 2.0

Intuitive, well-designed, and well-supported!This is not only my favorite app on my iPhone and iPad, it's one of my top 3 apps overall. First and most obvious, the layout of notes and the mechanics of playing are genius. This lets me explore music in a really cool new way that actually even helps kickstart my creativity. Next, the UI is smart. Buttons stay out of your way for the most part. The included sounds are great, and now the app can even act as a MIDI controller, which is really really nice. Another thing that really impresses me is the support. Audanika lets you contact them in a lot of different ways (including from the app itself), and they give you good answers FAST. They've also put up a ridiculous amount of supplementary video and tutorial content online. I've never used a small app that gets this much support. The only things I would improve are more instrument sounds, a way to use the horizontal note controls on the iPhone/iPod, and allowing more than three fingers to be used simultaneously. In general, if there were some way to have more controls while hiding some, this app would be just about perfect..Version: 1.2

SO FREAKING COOL!!! (letter to developers)I bought your app on a whim, thinking it would be just another junk music app you can get for free. I didn't even look at the description. I expected to download it, try it once, and delete it. I downloaded it. I tried it. I was blown away. It is beautiful, ergonomic, simple, and the best casual music software available anywhere on any device that I have been able to find. It takes complete advantage of the iPad, and every time I use it, I am blown away. I either burst out laughing for pure joy at its amazing capabilities to create any progression that comes to mind, or I become immersed for hours, recording and transposing to other instruments the creative discoveries I make. Thank you so much for this beautiful and purely amazing app. My only suggestion would be the possible addition of layering on the recording process, for which you could create an editing app, and the addition of more tones, which I understand you are working on. Thank you so much!!.Version: 2.0

Best free app ever!!I'm a 20 year musician. Vocalist, guitar, keyboards, drums and bass. I've been in plenty of bands and I also record all my own solo stuff. Besides kaoss this is the best music app out there. I've tried 'em all, literally. Deleted almost every one after a bit. This one will stay. I could seriously hook this up to a PA or amp and use it as a droning synth loop in the background live with it's hold feature or just play the recordings. Though the pro has more to offer this is great for free and records fairly well no midi but fun on the pad anyways. Great for somebody that doesn't want straight piano or synth parts but ambience without being chaotic nonsense and hard to get exact repeats like most synth pad apps. I seriously may use this live at rehearsal since I can get great sounds out of it without fiddling with it in between singing and playing both guitar parts. Great app!.Version: 2.5

Nice instrument!!I never understand why people are so prompt to criticize before truly giving these types of instruments a true chance. It is a musical instrument people and nothing else. So you need to appreciate it for what it is and stop looking for that App that's going to do it all for you. As a composer and musician I'm very happy with it. I find it to be a much better interface and playing experience for creating melodies and tones. Combined with gadgets like the Korg MiniKP, you have a very innovative source for new sounds. Yes it could use a few more sounds so it can attract a wider audience. l'd like more acoustic sounds myself, like a double bass, maybe a trumpet or sax, or even world sounds like a sitar, sarod, tampura, tablas, etc. As a first iteration, this is a fantastic instrument with a very promising future. Its approach to music making is easy and fun to say the least. I don't like writing reviews about pretty anything, but I felt prompted to do so based on some of the negative feedback I saw on this artist's product. I'd like to see more innovation being brought to this apple platform for years to come, and the only way to do that is by encouraging constructive criticism so these artists can continue pushing their projects and ideas to new fronts..Version: 0

App of the decade! This has to be one of THE greatest apps ever made for iOS musicians. The original version was inspiring but the newly refined and added sound packs just take this thing to a whole different level. I can sit for hours and just zone out on a couple of notes. I am so happy that the developer thought enough to add to the sound textures that were already a great part of this app. I still have yet to buy the "pro" version but if it adds to what is already here then the option is a no brainer. It will be a must have as well. This app should be a contender for "Music app of the decade" in my humble opinion. To me it's that good. Every time I open it up I know that my mind will be lost(in a good way) for hours. Thanks again for the hard work and dedication. Truly inspiring..Version: 2.0

A very compelling appI really like this app a lot. I'm enjoying the way the interface applies the 'circle of thirds' theory with a very minimalist layout. Playing music this way is really compelling, and it's easy to just relax with it and make great sounding music. This is only the v1.0 release, so I think this app has a great future! It needs more (and modifiable) sounds, but It's definitely worth checking out now. I gave it 4 stars, reserving one to add when more of its potential is realized. In the meantime, keep up the great work! :) PS: check out the videos at their website. It really helps get a handle on how everything works together..Version: 0

Amazing!!! Check out the other appsWay more than i was even imaging a real working app that is almost like modular controls for how much ...Great app hope to see more a detailed .. I mean Very detailed tutorial should be created to let people appreciate the massive amount of stacks of equipment this and the other apps shown on u tube replace .. i know its not all the same but .. More or less 1 brief case with a few patch cords a I-rig and iPads toss in a mic And u have more options then the Chemical brothers crammed in the manchester dorm room How much technology HAS ADVANCED Simply mind blowing.. its like telling fat boy slim nobody loves a 303 or Just my sound prism .. GET THIS APP AND OTHERS cant wait to see how many new Artists this inspires.Version: 2.4.1

As a musician, I've learned a lot from this appThis is not just for non-musicians. I've been playing guitar for nearly 30 years, and I have a decent grasp of music theory, though I'm certainly not an expert. The way the notes and chords are laid out here is very clever and logical, and has opened some doors on how I see my instrument. Soundprism gives you a new view into the interconnected relationships between notes and chords (and their inversions), and chordal movement without having to struggle through dry academic material while trying to apply what you've learned to your instrument. I think this is a fascinating app, and it's a lot of fun too!.Version: 2.3

Almost PerfectLove this app. It's simple, fun, and a great visual way to show someone how chords relate to each other. The one thing it's missing is to be able to keep the sound going once you close the app. I'd love to use it live as an ambient pad, but I use my iPad as my music stand too so I have to open a different app for that. As soon as you hit the home button the sound fades instead of continuing on. Please add this feature in your next update! One other great addition would be to include an open 5th option along with the single note, third, and triad. Thanks for making a great app!.Version: 2.8.0

This is music app perfection.I am blown away by this app. The interface is gorgeous and it's so useful for songwriting. I'm really considering getting the pro version because I can't imagine the possibilities of running this into ableton live. It seems that the iPad version let's you choose custom scales/chords. Since I use this to write songs on the go the ability to experiment with that would be awesome to have but since all I have is an iPhone it's just normal scales for now. Please add this feature to the iPhone and I'll buy the pro version in a heartbeat!.Version: 2.2

Very cool! There are lots of cool noisemakers out there, but SoundPrism manages to provide both an added degree of flexibility as well as unobtrusive education in one fun package. The piano display is very informative for someone without music training - I would probably need at least one extra set of fingers to do this in real life! I was a bit befuddled by the new sound selection menu... And I'm still not quite sure I understand what's going on... But I always manage to work it out and the interface is so pleasantly minimal I can't complain about a small learning curve. Thanks for a great app!.Version: 2.0

Great, but needs audio copy/paste!This app has incredible potential, but to truly raise it to the level of a real musical tool for iPad, it has to be able to copy audio tracks to the general pasteboard, OR utilize sonoma wireworks' audio copy, so that you can paste your loops into other compatible apps. The interface is awesome, the ability to create is great, but I need to able to really utilize it, and in order to do that, you have to be able to copy the great soundscapes you can make with SoundPrism! Thanks, looking forward to the next step in this great app!.Version: 2.0

Innovative and well-executed.This is basically a new user interface for making chords. It's presented in a unique way that makes it easy to play chord progressions that make musical sense in Western music theory. It's very well-done with several options to tweak the sound while maintaining a consistent style of playing. It can work as a fun simple way to tap out pleasant sounds, or for people interested in music theory it can cause some thought about chord patterns and harmony. Very innovative and well-executed..Version: 2.5

Neat app!My piano teacher got me to get this app- and its been REALLY helpful. Im now able to memorize chords- sing music on key- and my favorite- write and record my own songs! The only downside is that this is another free app that is only free because they have $4 sound packs that you would't waste your money on. However- it does include a free sound pack so you can have 8 different free types of music in total. I recommend this to all people who play piano,or just those who love to make music in general. Great app!.Version: 2.4

Has it's own place...This is a unique app that I do enjoy when I explore chords and theory. While quite flexible (midi out especially) I am frustrated with the inability to do recordings in anything other than audio which then must be sent to email app. The ability to save internally just the "data" of the jam would be great. (Yes there's a workaround by clicking on the link generated by the program when you do email the audio but what a hassle!) keep improving it guys. Base sounds are kinda lame too..Version: 2.2

Made music fun againI suffered through years of music lessons and had trauma from it. This app restored my enjoyment of making music, which is a great source of comfort when the pressures of day-to-day living get to be too much. The reason is simple: while all other musical instruments (a category I would assign this app to) point up your shortcomings, this one makes you sound better than you are, whether your musical skill level is beginner or advanced. THANK YOU!!.Version: 2.2

Fantastic!I've been playing around with a lot of novel interface music creation iPad apps lately and the more I play with this one, the more I realize this is easily one of the best layouts out there. Elegant and simple enough for anyone to make music on, but with some music theory knowledge, the app will blow your mind. Who knew, we've been tuning so many instruments in 4ths or 5ths for so long, but being based around the interval of a 3rd can give you some great patterns..Version: 2.4.1

Full 5 StarsThis is a wonderful app. Very clever, a lot of fun, and so easy to just pick up and play. There's more, though. The app design is intuitive. Finding your way through the settings and options is well laid out. The tutorials are wonderful. And the fact that they feature their favorite third party apps right in the app (complete with demo videos), is phenomenal. I'd write more, but I'm going back to the app now..Version: 2.3

A step upThis app is great. The only similar program I know of is a lil know pc program called tonespace. I don't know if the creators of this were inspired by tonespace but they Sedona fly took the concept to the next level both in options and interface. This pc musician is impressed. My 2 year old daughter Sienna loves it. We can't wait to try it on an iPad. My request option to save as midi file as well as audio file.Version: 1.3

The Priceless Gift of MusicLike many new musicians, I don't come from the traditional school of learning theory. This app enables the musical rules to be behind the scenes so that I can create new material. Its fun, simple, and WILL BREAK ANY CREATIVE BLOCK YOU WILL EVER HAVE. It allows anyone to create music with pattern and feeling, and with a little practice, you can use the app subconsciously!! Great tool and great value. And midi will be great, but wifi usually entails delay, especially on windows. Love, love, love this app!.Version: 0

Best out there. Most versatile music maker for iPhone! BUT...... when I recently upgraded to my iPhone 7 then it freezes the sound only after a short play? It requires me to cold boot my iPhone to get it back and it will freeze again. DO NOT let this push you away as I am sure the app's tech people will fix it soon. Also there are many other unrelated apps that have iPhone 7 problems too. 😇.Version: 2.8.4

Countless hours of fun.I honestly don't thing I will ever get tired of this. Worth having and keeping forever. The coolest feature in my opinion, is how you can see the notes it it playing. The layout of the board is designed brilliantly so you can see the chords you are playing, and based on shape, what kind of chord you are playing, whether it be major, minor, diminished, augmented, inverted, or a seventh chord. My hands will be tied for years to come..Version: 2.4.1

Inspiring app - my students LOVE it!I love this app for creating my own music and I often have my students download & try it out in their private music lessons. It's always a big hit! I love how even beginner students can feel like they are creating "real" music and advanced students see the great, creative ways it can be worked into performance! That's for adding to the beauty on earth by sharing your inspiring, fun, easy-to-use app! I love Soundprism!.Version: 2.5

Finally! All i wanted was a simple way to make real music for myself, wherever and whenever I like. I've spent so much money on so many apps that get real close or miss by miles. This one is easy to understand, quick to learn, and full of pleasant surprises. And free?! You absolutely must try it. If you're not making music inside five minutes, you might want to consider counseling..Version: 1.3

I understand!First off...keys tend to stick a bit, but it's easy enough to restart the application. Could be a problem if it were to be used in a performance. I'm giving this a five out of five. I've spent several hours on it just playing around. If only the iPad was about three feet across. Easy to play, records, perfect if you love ambient music. Probably good for just about any genre. THANKS!.Version: 1.3

Great!Liked the free version so much I upgraded to the pro and all I do is noodle around with it. I'm not a musician by any stretch but I really appreciate good design and the sounds are fun. Only one rough edge I could criticize--the way it displays multiple sound packs. It would be better to swipe between packs than to pick the pack and then the sound. Not enough of an issue to lower my rating, though sound packs could cost less....Version: 2.0

What is good about this, you ask? Read on…I get annoyed at being accosted to write reviews. Because of this pestering, -1/2 star; so, really 3 1/2 stars. In this rare case, however, I am willing to say this is a nice app. Being a bit of a keyboardist, it must be said that the notes are not sequential as found on, say a piano. Albeit, the arrangement of thirds is unique; with application of basic music theory, chordal structure is there at your fingertips. I enjoy the various sound packs available, and suggest the purchase of the group to save money—most are good..Version: 2.6

WHAT!!!This is my new favorite app. i have been coming up with chords that I hear in my head. I am really not a good keys player...but when I hear a chord I can put things together. this app is great all around..but even better for those who know the chords they want but just dont know how to play. i will be buying the pro version tonight so I can use midi to play my hundreds of vst synths. Great work developers. Knockshouse !!.Version: 2.5

Perfect!Being a musician, I find it really fun to just tinker with this. I'm learning the patterns and soon I'll be learning a song! It's not hard to work at all and it's actually quite relaxing! It's one of the few apps that I download and try and gets to stay. Most other apps like this are deleted almost immediately after trying. Do I recommend it? Hell yeah!.Version: 1.3

My new favorite appI love this app. Nuff said. From the moment I started fiddling around with it I was in love. The sounds are beautiful and I love the layout. I am a singer, and I enjoyed that it can automatically create harmonies and more. The interface is kinda like a harp. Love the chords on the left. All around stunning and relaxing. Oh, and you can use more than one finger, which I wasn't expecting. Only complaint is I can't play along with my music! Add that feature maybe? Sounds great alone, but I'd be interested in trying it out with the songs on my iPod. For free, this is probably the best music/art app I have gotten. I recommend it for nonmusicians as well, as it is very soothing, pretty, and all around fun!.Version: 1.3

Fun! Nice sounds!Fun app! Makes amazing sounds! Something a creative musician could use or even if you're not one yet but I guess it would be helpful to have at least a basic understanding about music. Just tried it for a few minutes but figured out you can change to different key ranges in the lower and respective upper registers in each of the different colored panels. Also can record what you created and email it or save it. A tip: if you are using your iPad, turn off the assistive four finger swipe otherwise you'll keep flipping between apps lol. I guess it would be helpful for the app to have a button that could disable the multitasking gestures (in settings>general) while in the app?.Version: 2.6

Yellow Salamand'r (via SoundCloud) recommended!Simple to use, yet amazingly versatile. So much can be achieved! Made great sounds immediately with only intuition as my guide!.Version: 2.8.5

LaFun.Version: 2.8.5

Nice app... Please add sequencingNice app. If they add basic sequencing capabilities, it will be killer!.Version: 1.3

AwesomeThis app is so creative, I am just enjoying this so much thank you you have thought of everything!.Version: 2.4

FunGood. Would be better if it was audiobus compatible..Version: 2.8.0

So very funHours of enjoyment, and I know nothing about music! A definite 5 out of 5.Version: 1.3

It's awesome !!!Fantastic!!.Version: 1.3

KgtemakoBeautiful App, makes music creation easy and cool..Version: 2.8.4

Ingenious layout. Difficult to play in practice.Ingenious layout. Difficult to play in practice. I find it very hard to instantly move between the chords and melodies because of the arrangement of the notes. Also it is so darn consonant it doesn't let you add a lot of flavor and tension and borrowed chords or parallel maj/min chords. I find an obscure app called Chordica way better at the bass and chords thing and more useful. It feels like playing a two handed piano with its ingenious left for bass and right half for chords layout. Soundlprism does it's unique place- don't get me wrong. It's just the layout isn't as flexible as you may think..Version: 2.8.4

Nice! This is really a great app! Lots of fun, easy to get good sound from. The extra sound packs extend it quite a bit, but you can have lots of fun the way it is. Simply a very well done app!.Version: 2.8.0

Easy music funI love this app & use it more than others to kill time. The extra sounds can get pricey, but i would only recommend the airy group with chorus sounds anyway. Cannot mess up!.Version: 2.8.0

Good funYes indeed.Version: 2.6

FunPretty fun to fool around with. Wish I could set it as an arpeggiator tho..Version: 2.5

Love it!You should make it have two different sound pads at once!.Version: 2.6

AvisTrès bien! J'adore!.Version: 2.6

MindblowingIf I gave my iPod to my baby brother and he clicked in a million different places, people would wonder if he was really that talented. "No," I would say, "it's just this amazing app." And I would show it to my friends and peers, and they would be flabbergasted..Version: 2.6

BestMost awesome sound app I've ever had! Awesomely wired and cool!.Version: 2.5

Sound prismGreat way to express my love of music without always having to hit 'the right key'. Calming, uses creative parts of my brain, I can play music in the dark! Thanks!.Version: 2.5

Great app! This app is awesome for inspiration and ideas when creating music in other programs! A nice addition to anyone producing music!.Version: 2.5

Pretty radEasy to make stuff that sounds good. Probably gonna upgrade to pro.Version: 2.5

A Lot of FunThis app is incredibly easy to use and a lt of fun. Addictive in fact..Version: 2.5

Good appGood one.Version: 2.5

CoolCool program. Has helped me learn chords much quicker and makes writing tunes that much easier. Cons, price of sound packs and also the switching between sound packs. There should be little to no delay but there is a noticeable wait after you select a new sound bank..Version: 2.5

CoolThis is really cool.Version: 2.5

SimpleAn easy way to learn the basics if chord progressions. Also a nice way to relax.Version: 2.5

AwesomeAbout to play it on the radio!.Version: 2.5

Incredible app! This is the sort of thing that chew up lots of time. Addictive if you understand the full extent of what it can do. If I'm bored or have time to kill, this is just mesmerizing. With the right headphones this is an unreal app for musicians. Great stuff!!.Version: 2.5

Pretty goodEasy to play on for kids. No musical skill necessary. Screen got stuck a few times. Shame the packs cost so much. I won't pay that much. Same goes for the midi control features..Version: 2.5

5 starsAwesome ... Everyone should have.Version: 2.5

SoundprismKiller app!! The best....Version: 2.5

CleverThis is good for the person with little or no musical experience.Version: 2.5

Fun, smartFun, open-ended, smart. Main flaw is icon-based mode controls aren't particularly intuitive & as such, it should open with some pointers for first time users..Version: 2.5

Nice sounds.I see potential in this app..Version: 2.5

Fun!Loads of fun. A really great app..Version: 2.5

Quite entertainingFun app to use. Good pre loaded sounds. Easy to use :).Version: 2.5

Electric! So fun and easy to use. Sounds like music not Random noise. You too can sound talented..Version: 2.5

Just excellentOne of the best. iPhone version tends to lose menu though. Might be me..Version: 2.5

A Lot of FunIf you love music, you'll love Sound Prism..Version: 2.5

WowSo sweet.Version: 2.5

This is what you wantBest thing i ever fidgeted with and it sounds great.Version: 2.5

Gotta get the pro now !!Beautifully..Version: 2.5

This is not what you thinkThis is simply new musical instrument, which has nothing to do with those familiar to you. I truly enjoy writing sound bites with it. It's different, different, different!.Version: 2.5

Amusing! This app is very fun to play with and is targetting a music lover with little musical background. A little caveat: I hear crackle in the background when playing more than 2 fingers at the time... The free version is a must. The pro version price is questionable....Version: 2.5

AmazingLove it.Version: 2.5

Soundtrack prismSuper !.Version: 2.5

Free version already a cool app for musicians and non-musicians alike. If you can hear the harmonies in the tunes you listen to, you will find them quite intuitively with this app. For composers, the limitations to triadic harmony may drive you crazy, but the Pro version has a "pitch class shifter" that allows you to reconfigure chords so that tones can be shifted up or down a semitone. The layout is great and this can be a useful tool to learn about harmony, or for more advanced musicians, a great chord tool..Version: 2.5

Very goodThis app is really alot of fun! It's easy to make good music..Version: 2.5
