Not badThe interface works well enough and the downloading is virtually seamless. Not all of the audiobooks have good readers though. There is a vast range in quality; for instance one of the recordings of the jabetwocky was done by a Russian man you could barely understand who put absolutely no effort into what he was reading. On the other hand some recordings are particularly excellent, the invisible man for instance has a wonderful reader. Although, I know there are multiple versions of each book. My only complaints are a lot of the time one book is read by a multitude of people and the reviews on each book are pitifully unhelpful, but that's not even the app makers' fault. Anyway you can't really go wrong, everything is entirely free since it's all in the public domain, it's just a shame that some classics barely escaped the 1923 mark off like The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy..SavebythesmellVersion: 1.0.4

Ads playing over book on loadingOverall, I love the app, but often I have problems with an audio / video ad playing over / simultaneously with the book on tape when I first go into the app & the book I want to listen to. Can't seem to get one or the other to stop without exiting the app entirely & going back into it. For that matter, even when they aren't playing simultaneously, I can't seem to exit a video ad at all without exiting the program & going back in. Most apps with ads either offer only screen ads (no audio or visual ads) where there is an x or skip option to exit the ad or if audio / video ads are shown there is still an x (close) or skip option. This issue needs a serious fix or I will need to switch to a different app. As to other features or selection offerings, I can't add much feedback as I have only downloaded 3 classics & am early into my first (Dracula). I have narcolepsy & sleep apnea & while usually going to sleep is NOT an issue for me at all, I've had 3 months of continuous night-time insomnia, so I'm only using the app to help me sleep. It's working, but the book is so interesting, I keep dozing off, rewinding & playing again & again to catch what I dozed off in..PoetmomVersion: 1.0.4

Hit and miss but good overall.It is impossible to rate each presentation separately, the individual reviews never download so there is no way to know what each story will bring. Some of the narrators are excellent and present high quality recordings. Some are simply terrible and listening to them is torture. There is no quality control as some novels have recording problems. There is no way to stop, start or pause with the screen locked. As these recordings are free, the advertisements are to be expected however the ads with sound are obnoxious and intrusive. As it is not possible to use any of the controls with the screen locked, having to stop in mid reading causes the presentation to switch to an add. That's where the loud music from "Walapop" or other ads with sound intrude. With some of these problems attended to, I would not have a problem paying for these recordings..123 and 321Version: 4.0.8

Love it!I really enjoy this app! I've been using it for months, but have just finally decided to leave a review. Recently the app has been having a few issues (the white screen mentioned in other reviews) and only playing one "chapter" at a time, with no option to have them continue without hitting play again. Especially difficult when the screen stays white and you can't get it to start at all... The thing is, these are just bugs that haven't always been a problem, so I encourage everyone who's had problems and possibly deleted the app to reinstall and wait for an update that fixed these issues:).LuckigiVersion: 1.0.3

Book reviewI have listened to a few of your recordings- one of the readers throughout most of the reading sounds like he actually is nursing a cold. I have to say that on the other hand most of the readers have refined qualities of diction and pronunciation. Also its very pleasant to hear a British voice going over some these old lines because of the tonal differences, it sounds like I stepped into Oxford for a brief moment. Some of the female readers are very clear and precise in pronunciation. Very much adhering to the written word. Wonderful experience all around. Great app! Was better before the update...now respond time is slow. Please fix this.Great book choices. You can pick up where you left off last, rewind 30 seconds with one touch of a button, or set a timer to turn off audio books after specific time intervals ( great way to fall asleep and make sure the apps doesn't keep running and eat up your battery). Totally Awesome.I love reading books, but listening to them just keeps my attention better. I have a hectic life and I can't always find time to read books, so I love how I can listen to these while cleaning around the house, at work, and even when I'm trying to sleep, some of the books just knock me out. Much improved experienceThis update makes listening to audiobooks a smoother experience. Everything loads much quicker, and the app no longer takes so much processing power that it crashes any other apps that you try to use, or crashes itself. It is easier to read the book description, now that it is included when viewing the basic info page. Keep up the good work. One thing I don't like is that you can no longer read the reviews that others have left, nor can you see how many reviews have been left. Also, I couldn't figure out how to leave a review. I would also like if we could see who the people are that read the book. I have readers I like, and might listen to some books, simply because I like the reader. What Fun!!!As an avid reader, I did not think I would like listening to books. However, I just love it! Great app!This is a very enjoyable addition to my phone. If I had any complaints at all it'd be about some of the readers. I know these books are read by volunteers but maybe a little screening couldn't hurt. For instance, the reader for Moby Dick is excellent. The voice and enunciation are just right for audio books. But the reader for Sherlock Holmes, not so much. In fact I couldn't even listen to it. Which is a shame because the Sherlock Holmes stories are among my all time favorites. Fantastic premise, definitely worth usingAll the classics that have no copyrights or anything, and volunteers reading it which makes it completely free and just awesome. It's not perfect, the app itself freezes sometimes and won't let me hit the 30 second rewind button (although audio just continues with no problems) and its a little odd at first having to get used to new readers every chapter or two, but seeing how it's free, I really don't care. AudiobooksWell, the pace of life and trying to get to sleep at night has, in part, vaulted 'narrated' books to probably the highest use yet. Certainly, with this rise more funds has built up a new class of 'audio actors' I'd say. People like Frank Muller have taken reading to truly artistic and creative levels. Listen to Mr. Muller's Moby-Dick and be stunned at how Melville's epic of all time does attain genius levels of the human heart. Read in high school like most of us legend has Moby-Dick as long, boring, endless and inscrutable. Mr. Muller brought me to at least I'm on deck now and this book is over the top genius. The dramatic reading changed my life's view of that epic. Audiobooks can get you this with a tad less talented readers than Muller, but for free. Moby-Dick's profundity for free ? Good for free, but...While I'm loving having tons of classics at my fingertips for free I've noticed two major issues. Not being able to play/pause from lock screen (although you can using earphones with a button) and more importantly is that it causes horrid battery drain. I use it while I work (moving around so I can't charge) and it drops from 100% to 20% in just a few hours. And that's from a downloaded book. A real person reads, so you get the benefit of vocal expression, which can also be a drawback as the reader's expression can vary from what your own interpretation would be. Better than expected! Superior!I had low expectations considering it's free, but all the great classics are here. Enjoyable and easy to useAs a fan of classic books, I really enjoy this app. The interface is simple and intuitive. The recordings are LibriVox recordings and so the readers vary in quality but nothing I find distracting. The sleep timer app is a handy addition. The only con is that some of the video ads run concurrently with the audiobook and cannot be shut off. You then have to rewind the audiobook to hear what you missed. Some approach unlistenable, some are spectacular. I rated this app low because the earlier version of this app had a far better search interface and no unavoidable ads while you listen, which I find completely unacceptable. Good Audio Book appGood stories. I like to follow author series, this app is set up well for this. Very easy to navigate and create your own library. I enjoy listening to a chapter as I relax with my eyes closed. Then I can visualize the events from the book. The variety of voices that narrate the chapters take a second or two to adjust, but has no impact on the writing of the story. My favourite so far is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Fast slide into unacceptabilityI used to love this app. Sure, the downloads were slow and the ads annoying but those were the tradeoffs for access to much of the World's best literature. But over the past few days the app is taking forever to open, freezing randomly on one of the menu pages, locking the Listen button on my iPhone so I can't access the books I've downloaded - the list goes on and on. If I hadn't loved this app for perhaps a year, and didn't know it is capable of better things, I'd say it's a piece of garbage. Please restore it to its former functionality, kill the half-screen promo ads for games, and give me back the app I love. Great concept, but version has bugs galore!I've been using this version for about a week. I like the ability to download over 3G and listen to my books while driving. However, I've had audio stop midway though the chapter for no reason, and the ads in the app fail to load and lock the app into a white screen. I'm currently in a white screen now while trying to load The Oregon Trail audiobook.
