Weather Hi-Def Live Radar App Comments & Reviews

Weather Hi-Def Live Radar Positive Reviews

Good radar appThe only reason I bought this app was that I wanted to quickly look at precipitation/clouds covering and see where it was moving. It used to be perfect in his regard - I could use the little slider at the bottom to move time forth and back and get the idea very quickly. With the new version the slider is gone and it is only possible to start plying the time loop automatically. I miss the slider a lot! On my iPhone 7 Plus the app itself seems to be working reasonably fast. I like the new layer settings - it's much nicer than it used to be. Plus, I like that now it is possible to select the combination of precipitation and clouds! As far as I remember, you could have one or the other before. However, this combination has a problem with animation - when I hit the play button it takes the whole loop to show the clouds/precipitation that move. The other layers work fine in this regard so it is only this combination that has the problem..Version: 3.5

From bad to worseLike many, I have had this app for years and still miss the slider. This has been a frustration for years. I have settled that it is gone. Over the last couple years, I have also looked for a replacement app and found none that compared to this app for resolution of radar and speed of loading. I also use RadarScope Pro alongside this app, but it is a more complex app and loads slower. I have liked the speed and resolution of this app. Until recently, I have been fine running a year old version of the app, concerned that I would not like the updates and I was content with the app as it was. But today, it just hung and hung and would not load any radar imagery. I figured it may be my old version causing a problem, even though it loaded yesterday just fine. So I updated it... wow, what a piece of junk app this has become. It is near exact to storm radar from the weather channel app but you have to pay for future radar also instead of it being included free. The resolution is so bad, so bad, so bad. You should probably change the name of the app away from Hi-Def. I will not continue to use this product anymore. I have rode out the disappointments for years, with it remaining a better option than many, but this latest version is a fatal wound..Version: 4.4.17

Excellent AppA great app for when you want to know what’s happening now. Not only do I use it to track tornadoes and storm patterns during hurricanes (helps me discern just how close a tornado is when I get alerts on my phone so I’m not sitting in my bathtub needlessly😉). I also use it when I go to the pool and check it when I hear thunder (to see if lightening is close and so I know when to shut down my water aerobics class); AND to know when there will be a break in rain/storm activity so that I can take my dog outside to go potty. I have other weather apps and this is the one that is most useful. After you set up the layers you want to see (like lightening etc.) and your exact location, it’s very straightforward and easy to use. Well worth the few dollars it costs annually. I have highly recommended it to others..Version: 4.4.30

Best weather appLiving in Hawaii the weather is as indecisive as can be. We have passing showers and those really affect me. Not to mention I love rain and geek out when I can tell my friends it’s about to rain and it actually does. This app is flawless. Ive tried to see who the developers are and figure out how their tech is so much more advanced than say the weather channel or NOAA: Clime. This app does exactly what it is intended to accomplish. Even if there is just a brief drizzle, this app will guaranteed show me at least 5 minutes before it’s arrival. One suggestion, I would purchase the subscription if you had Doppler rain alerts. If you could alert users when Doppler shows rain enroute this would literally be the best app ever. ALSO: please update your developer website.Version: 4.4.22

Wx radarGreat app! But it has idiosyncrasies in some features. If you purchase the Future forecast capability, it’s 99 cents per month well spent. But for odd reasons, occasionally when you tap Future, the app gives you a No Thanks option or a 99 cents option—as though you never signed up for the Future forecast. Even more weird, when you select the payment option, it tells you that your subscription is active & next payment will auto-occur on xx date. So why the heck doesn’t it work???🤨 Update! These folks actually review reviews—and offered several suggestions to fix this issue. Now the Future forecast works great 👍🏼!.Version: 4.1.3

Best and most accurate weather radar appI’ve been using this app for years and it’s always provided me with up to date radar and weather maps with information that helped me daily as I’ve worked on the beaches and on the water directly in the elements for many years now . As we all know the weather forecasts are only right half the time so when properly read these radars and maps with the different overlays can really help you see what’s happening in your area for your self in real time . I’ve been using it for 7 years and still haven’t found an app I like better for the weather maps ..Version: 4.1.7

RecommendSevere weather is very important to watch and track. I have searched high and low for a free app that allows you to not only see warnings and movement along with seeing things like lightning and wind patterns without being charged. It is amazing these days companies want to charge you to give you information that might save a life. After using this app seeing how powerful it is. And not saying give us your money to track severe weather. I have decided to go premium for the other options available. Huge thanks to the developers for offering people a possible life saving weather app for free. I also love how this app shows the tracking as you watch past and future movement of the storms, I watch lightning and wind and seeing those changes gives me the best I have seen yet. Again to the developers huge thanks for this powerful app and please keep it they way it is for free for those that can’t afford to pay. It could save lives..Version: 4.4.30

This app is too bug-ridden to keep subscribing toAfter years of subscribing to this app and reinstalling again and again to try to fix the map display I’ve decided to unsubscribe and uninstall. Any time the app has been running in the background I have to close it and restart it to get the map to correctly display the layers. Support told me it may be related to an unstable internet connection but it still occurs on Wi-Fi using a gigabit fiber connection. I’ve tolerated it for a long time but Wunderground and CarrotWeather have similarly detailed maps and I can no longer justify $1/month for this glitchy mess. That’s too bad because for years I’ve used this as my go-to radar app despite its constant issues..Version: 4.4.40

Newest update is greatI’ve been using this app for a number of years. A previous update totally destroyed its functionality by taking forever to update the data. As a consequence, I pretty much stopped using it and instead started using another app that loaded much faster but it didn’t have the feature set of this one. A couple of months ago, I decided to launch this app again and to my delight it loaded almost instantly. I can now swipe to different locations and at different zoom levels and it loads the data very quickly. Thank you! I now default to this app for weather images. Another feature I always liked with this app is it’s ability to zoom almost infinitely anywhere in the world. It’s cool to view streets in different parts of the world. You won’t be disappointed with this app. It has a lot of features such as selecting layers, thus letting you see different weather conditions..Version: 4.1.7

Flawed new updateThis is a solid radar app I’ve been using for years, but the most recent update is a noticeable downgrade. The new location marker is too large and takes up more room on the map than necessary (the pin was so much better). I also don’t like that it now defaults to a zoomed in view of your location. I’d rather my location marker be kept off until I choose to turn it on, and the map default to wherever I was last viewing it before previously closing it. It’s also not terribly user friendly for left-handed users, who have no way to turn on the radar loop with their left hand without reaching all the way up to the top right corner of the screen.Version: 4.4.46

* Radar imagery needs improvement *My radar imagery is no longer colorful or as sharp as it used to be in previous versions, why? And when you use the SATELLITE view it’s background is much too dark to easily see. (I do know how to change the layer transparency and this has nothing to do with what I’m talking about.) Overall, I think it’s a great radar app and would rate it 5 stars except it’s newer versions are poorer than its old. You should improve, not say technology has changed and we’re doing our best! Who wants to pay for such when there are many free weather apps that are able to keep up to date. I do still enjoy using this one since I’m already familiar with it..Version: 4.1.7

Extremely Handy AppWe use this app often when planning our outdoor events. Several years ago, we were traveling and there were heavy storms ahead. On Hi Def, I could see two large storms with a narrow gap between them. We could see the same thing in the sky and the accuracy was amazing. We slowed down a bit to let one storm move on and then sped up as the gap appeared and made our way without getting into any rain before the second storm arrived..Version: 4.4.20

ReviewForecast for my area in Dawsonville Ga cannot be relied on. Started to use the Noah weather app to evaluate accuracy. You folks have an add for everything. When I exit the app I get hit with another add before you allow me to exit the app which is annoying. I wish the dedication to forecast accuracy was as good as you add targeting. Respectfully. Just a quick note I’ve tried to send you this review 8 times but your annoying to no end password system ask for passwords and they are all taken. Cant sit here all day with this. Fix it so we can communicate without annoying the heck out of each other..Version: 4.4.36

Another Repurchase 🙄I like the features. That’s why I bought RADARCAST (no longer in App Store). I understand business circumstances change and you have to make trade offs however you failed to tell your customer. My RadarCast app just began intermittently failing to show radar. Over the last month the supporting services clicked off and I was left wondering why my once reliable product stopped working. 🙄🙄🙄 communication. That’s all I’m asking for. Yes, RadarCast is related to NOAA weather radar but it might have been a M&A ago..Version: 3.5

Weather event radarWith this weather system, weather radar can now give two sources of weather events coming to my area. I can change my plans instantly, or plan on making a change in a couple of hours or minutes. If you have a business and it requires you to have a Weather stable environment. This is what you Need in order to be able to make a decision that cost money. And put you in a safer place if need be..Version: 4.4.22

Future doesn’t work even though I have tried to resubscribe twice!I have paid for the Future feature twice. But am tired of seeing the need to subscribe box whenever I try to use it. Every time I check the iPad or iPhone subscription on iTunes it showed me subscribed but the app would not work for Future. I’m tired of this so cancelled the subscription. I’ll look for an app that gives me what I pay for!.Version: 4.1.4

New update - slower on my phone, VERY sluggish on IPad ProThis has been my go to weather app for almost a decade. Doesn’t appear that much has changed, but whatever happened, it’s slow on my XS Max, painfully bad on my iPad Pro. (Toggling Satellite to Dark made it slightly better.) Also Lightning is toggled on, (I always have that feature enabled) but the lightning bolt alerts/icon in the storms are not showing up. I doubled checked other maps, storms tonight (April 29), no question these have frequent lightning, it’s just not appearing on this app anymore..Version: 4.1.5

John WienstroerWhen you press the arrow to send the clouds in motion you need to have double the time so that you can tell better where things are going it looks like it’s about 45 minutes it should be like two hours, also tell them at Noah national mosaic that my computer isn’t fast enough to keep up with the graphics that’s a real problem thanks for telling them..Version: 4.3.5

REVISED - good appI read other reviews and the developers responses to my issue. Redownloaded and it works again. I’m not going to give five stars though. I’ll give four but won’t give five due to now the map looks like a kids coloring book or something. It’s like a children’s map with awesome HD radar on top of It. Hopefully it’ll improve. Thanks Previous review: “Sits there with a blank map all day even though it’s flooding outside - I’ll update this review if the app improves - I’ve used this app for years - please fix it and I’ll give better review...”.Version: 4.1.3

Will not renewI have loved this ap when I first started using it years ago. Decided to upgrade it, and now I wish I did not. Major factor of my dissatisfaction is the future Radar. Actually my only complaint. There is not a way to turn it off or change the settings so you can get more time of past radar. The future radar is inaccurate, and when I look at the radar I am looking for progression of storms. Add the ability to change radar settings and I will renew when it is time..Version: 4.4.20

Forecast LackingI really like the radar, but for the last few months the forecast stats haven’t been current or correct. For instance, for several days our local forecast has called for snow on Friday. This app has only showed snow on Thursday…even Saturday…never Friday. Even today, Thursday, the snow forecast on this app is Saturday. It’s supposed to snow starting around midnight tonight, and that’s a far cry from Saturday. Since I have to look at my other weather app for a correct forecast, why keep this one? Sooooo, I didn’t..Version: 4.4.30

Weather appI love the app, it gives great weather forecasts, etc, as I live where there’s tornadoes. The only thing I’m not happy with, is that I bought the better app, and have three iPads. I can only use it one one of them, however, it would be nice if that app ran on all three. It says I need to purchase it again for the other two iPads. 😞. I pay a monthly fee for the upgraded version, but I won’t for the other two. Nice app tho..Version: 3.6

More Frequent UpdatesMy only Complaint would be… I wish they’d UPDATE The Satellite images move often. Like MONTHLY OR At Least ONE Time per Year. These photos are well over 3-4 Yrs. Old ! I also wish I could find out what some of the Info means Eg; The Weather in the specific areas… colored areas that pop-up occasionally at the bottom of the page showing various events(Winds, warnings)..Version: 4.4.30

Falling fast to the bottomThis used to be a great app to follow weather on. All to often the purchases you make don’t matter the app won’t work the way it’s supposed to. Then you get an update and it says that if your already subscribed then you won’t notice any changes and it still won’t work. Not sure what happened here this was at one time an amazing tool..Version: 4.1.5

Great with some glitchesLove this app when it works as it should. Unfortunately, the radar often does not show and the app must be reloaded a couple times until it builds the animation. The map will sometimes show no clouds / no activity even during a storm. Reloading a couple times will often resolve the glitch and the map shows the appropriate activity. Fix this and the application is five star..Version: 3.5

Charging me for future radar but I can’t use it!This app would be okay if it wasn’t for the fact that I can’t use the future radar feature I’m paying for. It just keeps telling me that I need to subscribe, then when I do that or hit restore purchase, it tells me I’m okay and I STILL can’t use it. It just starts the process again saying I need to subscribe to it. I’ll probably be deleting this app very soon..Version: 3.5

Weather radar ratingI use the weather radar app all the time. I used it in North Carolina last month when a flash flood hit the area I was camping in. I could see well in advance a possible flood could develop. This gave me enough time to move out of the area to safety. This app used properly gives accurate information so you can make good decisions.Version: 4.4.30

Worthless with new versionHad an old version that worked great. Decided to upgrade to subscription version for future info and everything went to crap. First, I had to rebuy the app because the old one was under a different Apple ID. Then I did the upgrade to access future radar. When I did I got a window at the bottom of the screen that takes about a 3rd if you screen. Oh, and the tool bar is under that window. When you tap the X to close that bottom window, surprise it doesn’t close. So now you can’t access any tools located at the bottom of the screen. Went to the website to try to get help. Forget that! That was another ordeal with disappointing results. Should have stuck with old version. Plan to hunt a replacement and call Apple for a refund..Version: 3.5

Pretty good radarWhile I think that this a pretty good app it used to be better. In the years before they wanted you to pay for a subscription this app was my go to for the weather when I was working in the field. Since they “upgraded” to offering a paid subscription, this app is now mediocre. It has a tendency to get “stuck” while loading the radar and will only show where storms were rather than where they are heading..Version: 3.5

Future radarIts a great radar. Just would like to have more projected radar in advance. Perhaps a 2 hour window Thanks. ..Version: 4.4.40

If you’re from Canada....No ability to save any Canadian addresses or change values from imperial to metric Thanks for the help. Works great..Version: 4.2.9

Very Useful AppI love this app for quick and comprehensive forecasting. While much of this information can be freely obtained, that requires you to visit multiple sites, often with limited scope of information. This app ties all the useful information into a one place and provides data from around the globe. I particularly like that it displays the vis sat imagery overlay on the precipitation radar even at nighttime. Being on the west coast, I also appreciate the zoomed out more global perspective which allows one to see storms brewing on the other side of the ocean days in advance. Well done app developers!.Version: 4.4.30

Great Weather AppReally before stepping outside this is the app to have.❤️.Version: 4.4.40

Best app everTo the creator of this app. Beautiful work! Flawless on the entry and enjoying diving in! Thank you!.Version: 4.4.30

WeatherIt’s awesome I use this app when I go canoeing and backcountry camping. So I’m ready for what comes my way such as set up my camp. Take shelter..Version: 4.1.7

Great app!!!Always rely on this one of my favourite apps. It does a great job all the time. My kids call me Weather Woman because I’m always using it:).Version: 4.0
