Bap, bap boom! :-)Look, let's be honest here. This is a totally simplistic app, it's not meant to do anything super sophisticated, but that said, it's a lot of fun and great practice tool. I love just scrolling through the different grooves and letting em' inspire a groove. Or finding a beat that fits a groove I'm working on. And it all helps with my timing and my tempo. Especially the practice section where the beats drop out for a bit and come back in. That really helps keep my playing honest and my focus sharp. All of the drum tracks sound great either in my headphones or jacked into the aux jack on my guitar amp, or jacked into my home stereo. Even through my iPhone's speakers it sounds good. Killer accompaniment to training and playingI needed something other than clicks from a metronome to keep myself interested. I have been playing for a long time so this was a great idea. I was looking to try another app from this developer but they are working out some tweaks. Anyway, I digress. This app has more drum tracks, straight metronome clicks and different types of rhythms and even inspiring tracks. With this being a very easy to use app, you can’t lose when looking for something to jam to and improve your playing. Beats a Regular Click Click ClickThis is a great app. I'm an old-school country and western swing guitarist and between the provided beats and the country package I have everything I need for practicing. Metronomes are much better than having something playing the chord progression a lot of the time since you can stop to work on a particular passage or fingering and pick right back up without having to restart or find your place in the chord progression. I wish you could select your own BPM instead of going by the five BPM increments the way the app is set up, and I wish it had more range in terms of tempo's. I would really rated about a 4.8 instead of 5 because of those limitations, but even so a great, great app and a lot of fun to play with..San Antone!Version: 3.4

Wish these were included with my DAW.These are really great drum tracks, I wish these had been included in my Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)! They are really nice loops and you can just turn them on and let them go, they are so much better than a click track or a metronome to practice with. To get more, I think they are a bit expensive and wish there was an option to purchase all of them for like $10 to $15. To buy them all gets a bit expensive... Still that's no enough to drop the app from 5 Stars, this is just a great app and it works perfectly and is a perfect practice AND performance application! Must have metronomeI was so tired of practicing with metronome apps, all those clicks and snaps, that I was delighted to find this group of beats to play to. I usually stick with the straight beats for running scales, but there's plenty of variety for inspiration and to aid writing songs. This is an app I use every day and is why I give it a five star rating. I do have one gripe that I know others have too. It's the fact that it only goes down to sixty beats per minute. If you want to practice a slow ballad, say at 50 bpm, then you have to set it at 100 bpm, which makes it sound too busy..RichardbanVersion: 3.4

Great Starter AppPlease don’t let my rating deter you from buying this app. This app has a ton of great beats to work with while learning. However, to gain access to the majority of what this app offers you have to drop much more money than I personally think is necessary. If I’m going to spend that much money then I will go ahead and buy a professional studio program. It’s just a few dollars more and although I might have to write my own beats it’s much more versatile. I do however highly recommend this for a great metronome and simple beats to learn and dig out new ideas. I purchased most of the genre packs and generally have all the beats needed for anything I take a stab at. Simple, elegant - so many great options!Out of all of the drum apps available to use as a rhythm accompaniment track, this is the most straightforward. Makes practice fun.I am a bluegrass player. Using this app makes practicing fiddle tunes, scales and chord progressions on guitar, mandolin fun and challenging. Wish only that I could change the tempo in smaller increments than 5s. But that is really not that big a deal. I have purchased several of the different "packages" and like them all. Nice but one big gripeI like this app, but am only giving three stars because I have one big gripe with it. You pay $4 already for the app. But it limits you to tempo increments of 5 (95, 100, 105, etc.) unless you pay more money. A Metronome On Steroids! Love It!Playing along with a regular metronome will help you bring your playing into alignment with the actual tempo, but this app will give you the luxury of a more 'true to life' playing situation while you're at it. What took this app so long?What took this app so long to be developed? Why I ask? Easy to use, lots of great beatsThis app took me about five seconds to learn how to use, which is my favorite thing about it. Also the beats are really great and the sound is good and all of that. Good app not not always friendly with AirPlayI play the beat through an AirPlay speaker to practice guitar and there's some glitch where sometimes it will stop working all together and not play sounds through my phone or the speaker. The only way I can get it to work again is to reboot my phone. It's annoying. Other wise the app is cool and has lots of great beats. Great appI love this app. I teach junior high band and use it with my 6th grade beginning classes in place of a metronome at times to add some fun variety for scales and things. Good drum accompaniment, but many locked patternsI use Airplay to drive external speakers for accompaniment when I practice sax. My only complaint is that many of the drum patterns cannot be accessed unless you pay additional for a subscription. Pretty spare unless you pay for a subscription.I was looking for some funky world beat type grooves to practice with, and have the desktop app version, which is really good, but the iOS version requires a subscription to get to anything besides basic rock, country and pop rhythms, no way to purchase a lasting set. I could be wrong, maybe I went for a subscription there as well,, but for the money, there are more rhythms in Drum Genius and you are not locked into a subscription format. Too many upsellsFor a paid app, there are too many basic features missing for serious musicians without having to purchasing extra features: the ability to select a tempo in increments smaller than +/-5, and the inability to filter out unpurchased add-on grooves leads to absurd "VIP" content clutter in the UI. To their credit, the developer did respond quickly, acknowledging that these were annoying issues, but that eliminating them will require subscriptions. I will be looking into Drum Genius to use instead of this app..WOW ComposerVersion: 4.0.4

This is NOT the old appMost of the worthwhile beats are now not just extra $$ but annual subscription. $20/year. Are you kidding me? For low resolution samples that sound like a 1980s drum machine? I was only barely willing to pay for this app but that was with the understanding that I’d have the same library of sounds that my guitar player has on his older version of the app. Not so. BPM not flexible enoughIf this app allowed me to adjust the BPM by increments of one then I would have given it 5 stars. Only a handful of songs I play have the BPM in increments of 5, so I cannot use this app for the majority of songs and it does not make sense for me to switch to this app just for those songs. So this app unfortunately is useless to me. The concept is great and if there is a way to change the BPM by 1 then please let me know and I will change the rating..TazmanRVersion: 3.4

Good but not close to being great.The lowest you can go in this app is only 60 BPM. Sometimes I need lower BPM to learn new beats. Think beginner developer. Can't get lower the 60 here. And if you want 93 or 114 bpm forget it. The bpm goes up in 5 increments. And no sheet music to learn or see the music being played. And that why I would never upgrade to the pro version. The free version is just not close to where it needs to be. All of the 5 star reviews must be fake..Rsd22Version: 3.4
