VBookz PDF Voice Reader US Positive Reviews

Works wellIt does sound a bit digital but once I settle in to listening I understand it very well. Really love the dialects font! The app does need a bookmark feature..Version: 2.0.1

Amazing Technology! For an application on a smart phone, this is probably the most useful app ever had! I use this application to listen to textbooks. It works with dropbox so that I can print sections of my text books, open them from Dropbox using vBookz, & listen! One major benefit is that it stores the files locally on the phone storage, and does not require an Internet connection to read the files aloud. This enables listening on airplanes that do not have Wi-Fi connections (or saves paying the fee for access). This app does say words "Incorrectly", but usually they are not so much incorrect as they are out of context. (BI - abbreviation for business intelligence is said bi, like bi-lateral.) If the author used B.I., it may have read it correctly. This should not prevent anybody who wants to have books read aloud to them (while exercising, driving, or resting your eyes from hours of reading) from getting this, because it truly is an amazing application!.Version: 2.0.1

Excellently workingExcellently working but Shuffling while reading some of the books, Not reads in the order of content is displayed, for example, it reads directly the the second para without reading first. Suggestion:- before buying these apps read your pdf book through speak option in iBooks or free apps, if it meets your requirement then purchase these vbz & vdr apps. These apps are exactly works same like iBook and not works like acrobat pdf reader readout loud feature, only difference observed between iBooks and these apps(vbz & vdr), ibooks reads out loud only upon selection. Vbz & vdr apps reads out loud whole book with or without selection..Version: 2.0.1

PDF readerI love this app I got it when I had an iPhone 4s and been using it since. I just got an iPhone 13 Pro and I searched pdf readers and I couldn’t find it so I downloaded 3 other apps that were terrible then I remember it could be found in download history and I downloaded it and been happy since..Version: 2.0.1

In-text Cited SourcesI absolutely love the app. Although, I would love there to be an update where I could choose the option to not have the in-text cited sources read allowed in the articles within my library. It often distracts and corrupts the flow of a very interesting sentence. Overall, great app! Thank you!.Version: 2.0.1

Terrific on iPad and iPhone.Have used it for years on my iPad and now I have it on my iPhone. Works very well. Easy to import to it from email. I’d say its A or4.5 as an app you want and need and use regularly. I like the voice reading my writings. Helps with editing. Simple and fast, and is very effective..Version: 2.0.1

4 stars b/c No iphone x supportReading from PDFs is decent. i like: - you can change reading speed - the crop feature - can import pdfs & turn intro music off - can pay for more languages - can manually program how to pronounce words - It remembers where you left off - can pause Non- dealbreakers: - can’t change voice - problems reading some common symbols - Weird way reading sentences sometimes? Really, i world rate 5 stars if not for the lack of iphone x support. It’s annoying to me as i one time paid for this app. Moreover, it makes me think the developer does not care about the app..Version: 2.0.1

Love it, had this app for couple of yearsLove this app, had it for couple of years and works great!! Highly recommended..Version: 2.0.1

GoodGreat app, I wish they had a bookmark feature but other than that I REALLY enjoy it.Version: 2.0.1

Wonderful AppThis app does a great job of converting written words to audio easily convert to PDF. Bookmarks..Version: 2.0.1

Fabulous applicationFabulous application. It's changed the productivity of my drive time by orders of magnitude..Version: 2.0.1

Dyslexic child help!!!This program has truly changed the life of our 15 y.o. Homeschooled daughter! She reads well, but too slowly for highschool loads, so, she can 'read along.' We talked to the author of her curricula, and they agreed to provide her texts weekly in PDF. Form. I open the PDF. My iPad invites me to 'open in' then I choose the vBookz button. The prompt for what language I want it in is offered. I push American. Then I move it to its place in line ...I.e, week 7 English, week 7 biology and so on. Then all she has to do is push read, and she can read aloud as the voice highlights each word it reads. She can choose speed too! Only reason I did not give a 5 is because I would like to be able to have separate bookcases per subject. Our bookcase is loaded with6 subjects, and it would be nice to have a bookcase category that I could open for each subject..other than that, this ap is amazing!.Version: 1.2

Great AppIt is very good app for studding..Version: 2.0.1

Easy on the eyes :)I first got this app 3 iPhones ago. It was so amazing that I could take my books with me, and have them read to me all night long while I was around and about working on heavy trucks outside at night. Working alone can get very monotonous , and this app has been my trusty friend throughout it all. It don't get sick, and is always at the ready like a faithful friend in your pocket. Now I finally got my first iPad , and it's like Christmas all over again. Thank you so much for this wonderful app , my eyes have gotten much worse over the last year, and your ingenuity has helped me a lot, thank you =).... The iPhone is such a wonderful invention, it's all you can imagine and so much more. If you can think it up , these kinds of apps turn your dreams, and fantasy's into your everyday reality. A man in a hole is just such a shame , but give that same man the tools, and inspiration that he needs to succeed , and together we can change the world, thank you Steve Jobs..... You have changed my life..RJS..Version: 1.2

Went for it...SOOO glad I did!I don't have much to add to those who have delineated why they like this app...except to say, don't be turned off (as I almost was) by negative reviews. I say that for YOUR sake... I almost missed out on something great (this app) just by worrying over negative feedback. ...the very app I was searching for was here...and I found that out only after spending for almost every other speaking app out there. While some have decent voices, I'd say there are none I like so well as this for: voice, pdf reading feature (youd be surprised how few integrate this), ease of use, comparative price (you think the price is high? Just look at the tags of other speaking apps!), and the "follow along" word highlight. This app is soooo cool my whole family also likes this app now... it's that good. Pretty reliable for me so far too. A couple crashes maybe (do I remember any??) ..but considerably better than most. All in all a 5 star experience,.. I like it!! I use it..Version: 1.1

A useful app but it still needs some improvementThis may be still only an advanced app to read aloud pdf pages. This helps me concentrate to read the enormous information, efficiently stabilize them as my knowledge and ease my eye straining. However, there will be yet room of improvement. I like the crop feature added in this version, which allows us to skip the header and footer. If there is capability of cropping off the sides of the pages, we can avoid getting read the page numbers in some books. My second wish coming up to my mind will be the page gesture. In the current version, since there is capability of flipping over the page wherever I stroke my finger on the page, I have tough time to locate the red box to get to start reading aloud. If page flipping gesture is limited in the side of the pages, it will reduce my irritation. (E.g. Tap an allow or other gestures.) They are my current thoughts about this app..Version: 1.9

Very useful app!I am studying for a promotional exam, and this app has greatly accelerated my reading and comprehension of the material. I can read along with it, thus using two senses to absorb the material. It's also great because I can just listen to the material in the car. It only got 4 stars, because it is not great with abbreviations, technical terms, and for some reason it can't grasp the word they. It say t hey or something. Some of the material uses abbreviations without periods so these get jumbled into a made up word. It would be better if it spelled out capitals like FDNY..Version: 1.3

Not badThis app is useful for reading textbooks for school on my daily commute. Of course the voice is not great and it mispronounces words incessantly, but I'm listening for content rather than entertainment. It's the best I've found; however, 2 things really need improvement. 1. Make it possible to navigate through a PDF with greater speed via the pdf's bookmarks or by simply allowing the page to turn without the app slowing down to analyze each new page. 2. Improve the app's ability to remember your position in multiple books. Currently it looses the current page at least one out of every 4 times I open the app, whether I've closed it completely or not! That, coupled with inefficient page turning makes the experience more cumbersome than is necessary. If the developers would fix these 2 issues I'd gladly pay twice what they're charging for the app..Version: 1.1

Killer app(s) for commuters!I'd give this app (and it's sister app, vBookz-for-epubs - I have both) TEN STARS if I could. Reading voices are pleasant & clear, more than adequate for extended listening. Many more books are available as PDFs or ePubs than as recorded audiobooks, especially among professional and academic texts, so these apps greatly expand your available choices (not to mention how much less PDFs/ePubs cost and how much smaller than audiobook files they are). If you listen to books while commuting, hiking, or exercising, you •need• these apps. I only hope that Mindex (the developer) appreciates them for the breakthrough they are, and gives them the marketing attention they deserve,.Version: 1.2

Awesome applicationI am a dyslexic college student, and often have a hard time getting through reading materials. I started using vbookz this semester and it's made a huge difference. It not only does hearing the words make the material more understandable, but the box that moves as it reads is very good at keeping me from getting lost in a long paragraph of text. My only complain is that it isn't very good at reading equations, especially equations with integrals, derivative and/or greek letters. But even still, this app has become my main tool for getting through reading material. I have it both on my iPhone and my computer and use it frequently!.Version: 1.1

Makes Learning PossibleThis app is helping a lot with my studies. Read 450 pages in two weeks just during my 30 minute commute at 300 wpm. I bought the app in desperation to help make time for studying and it has almost completely freed up my evenings to spend time with my family. That makes a huge difference in that I can take classes without disrupting my normal routine, or I could take more classes if I wanted to. Note: Ghostscript or Bullzip PDF printers will convert webpages to readable PDF files..Version: 1.9

Works well once you figure it outI bought this app despite people's warnings. At first I thought it was useless. The app was adding a space after the first letter of almost every single word. Therefore it would spell each word rather than saying it out loud. However, I emailed ther support and got a response quickly. You need to convert your docx into a .txt file. Then close and reopen with the text program. Then save as PDF and it works great. I really like it and it gets trough my administrative law outline well..Version: 1.4

VBookz is the best!By far the best voice reader for PDFs. The famous magnifying glass is AWESOME because it follows the words as you read. Great for many reasons. Customer support is very good. If you have some suggestions, they ACTUALLY listen to their customers. Keep up the good work and continue to add new features like maybe the ability to highlight words, draw on the document etc. You better watch it or someone like Google or Apple will buy you up for a billion dollars :).Version: 1.3

Please update for iOS 11We have purchased 40 licences, but are unable to use in iOS 11. Please update ASAP. (Request made on November 9, 2017).Version: 2.0.1

VBooks PDF VOICE READER USI was interrupted four times, at least, to rate this App. Can’t see the haste. The first version ( don’t remember if I paid for it) stopped working mysteriously and, although attempts were made to find the reason, I did not get a response. Transfers, on the first version, were easier than on this one. I could transfer books and had them read. This version is limited only to PDF files and transfers are time consuming. Also, my many books were not recoverable. I would not say I like or dislike it because with the frequent changes, I doubt I will have it for very long..Version: 2.0.1

As a master’s student with visual impairment, this is incredibly essentialI don’t know what I would do without this app. As a person with visual improvement, it has had a profound impact on the way I consume journal article. I could have my journal play on this, whil I highlight on my computer. It is a must for anyone who need to veraciously consume contents. I can speed it up to quickly get an idea of the reading and can slow it down to find key details. I can’t say enough good things about this app..Version: 2.0.1

I like itIt’s a great app. I found it very helpful to read many different books fast. But it would be great if you add an option to skip words in brackets. It’s very annoying when it reads for me a bunch of citations in bracket. Please fix that’s. thanks.Version: 2.0.1

Voice reader works wellIn a two column pdf, it tends to skip the second column and flip forward to the next page...but not always. It's annoying to have to keep correcting it..Version: 1.9

Great way to listen to PDFsNot a bad app. It's not perfect but it definitely works well enough to use as a PDF reader. I use it to turn e books into audiobooks. Not bad at all..Version: 1.7

Great app for people who have reading disabilitiesI am a resource teacher at an elementary school and we LOVE this app for students with reading disabilities. Could you make the voice sound less robotic and give it better phrasing and fluency? Then it would be almost perfect!.Version: 1.9

Only OCRYou can only use OCR scanned pdf. That info is included very briefly at the very end of the "more info". Misleading. It does read well. Suggestion: academic option that skips page headers and footnotes.Version: 1.9

V booksIt is w hood app I find that it doesn't have a good foundation of words and pronunciation for words that are used in the meat and animal industry's and voices could be more human like with a choice of voices. The book shelf is to small still Other then that it is a great app And resource.Version: 1.8

Easy to use without reformatting the PDF1. Interface - very simple and user friendly. Beautiful and intuitive layout. 2. Input PDF - as advertised can input files from Dropbox, email, and web pages. Occasional problems when there are too many programs installed that can also open PDF files. The first time opening a file will also take awhile, especially if it is a large file. 3. Speech - Overall clear, easy to understand, and accurate pronunciation. Easy to adjust speed and pitch. Cursor follows the flow of document extremely well regardless of the formatting of two columns, graphics, or tables. Wish-list: 1. Ability to play speech at lock screen to save battery while listening. 2. Ability to multi-task while speech is playing similar to other text to speech program such as VoiceReader. 3. Ability to highlight and make simple annotation while reading..Version: 1.1

What happened with the new version ?My favorite application. Reading while walking or driving on the autoroute... No waste oh time ... Really great ! Thanks for all the time saved! Suggestion to improve : let us put some bookmarks ..Version: 1.2

Works great. It's what I've been wanting for years. Finally can get caught up on my work while driving!.Version: 1.0
