Hello please readI just got the app today and I love it. But can you add the ability to make your own definition for something? Without having to pay a fee or pay anything and having to make and account. It should work like this, you press a button and the button would say make a definition or def for short. Then you type in a box that says what it is. Then you write the definition here is an example: [name:Brody] [ definition: a great guy] then you would click send. So how would you guys benefit you may ask? Well after each time someone makes a definition they will have to watch an ad then when it’s over you wait for a little bit. So it’s a win win. The people who downloaded the app are happy and impressed. And you people put ads. Finger on the pulse of pop cultureThis is the reference dictionary that I use most often. Language is shown here in all its glory as the open-editing nature of the site allows for anyone to post their spin on how they use the various terms found here. Language evolves every day, and here we can see just how these things unfold, which terms take off and how popular each term is in popular culture by virtue of the likes and dislikes. My guess is that the importance of this site is vastly underestimated and seen as a course bastardization of the English language. Must Get!This website is legitimately lit! Almost always accurate, I just looked up the term ‘dropsies’ and typically I’d use the phrase: “butter fingers,” but if it’s someone I’m comfortable with I do say slang. I simply researched and it shows Oxford dictionary is stating it’s a water cavity in the body/fluids that are excessive. Then the new Oxford is the saying the same exact things word for word; expect, it has opted out on the first letter of that word in the new Oxford, but that’s three words and two different meanings’ to me I found that intriguing. Love it but please add DARK modeI absolutely love this app. It is my go two when I’m texting someone and they use a term or abbreviation that I don’t know or I think is some kind of text slang. OR when I’m talking to someone in person, if i’m feeling bold enough I’ll pull the app out right in front of them. Instead of asking the person, I pull out UD! Same wonderful website. Just missing a feature...I’ve been using UD since I was. Freshman in high school and it’s been consistent in its output and quality through the decade. The app is great for me when I’m away from my laptop (mostly when I don’t want to get off the couch to get my laptop) and want to double check some phrases that caught my attention. The one thing lacking is the ability to submit your own definitions. Maybe I’m not seeing the option/menu but I wish that could be included. Stopped updatingIt stopped updating a week or so ago. It also does not seem to be updating at their website. Maybe the app and the service are no longer supported. UD ftw!Urban Dictionary is the only dictionary that explains things properly. Because they are written (often) by the people that come up with them, you get to understand the real meaning. Funny and helpfulNeed I say more? I find it very useful for looking up the meanings of texting abbreviations. Unfortunately sometimes there are conflicting definitions, and the reader voting is only somewhat helpful. I love slang and enjoy using it in the right place. But I’ve also found that when apparently educated people give correct spelling or grammatical information they are heavily voted down. As a former educator, I find this disturbing. Useful, But Politics Ruined ItIt's a good app, and I enjoy using it whenever some random slang or phrase comes up and I want to know the meaning behind it, however; the app is annoyingly politically and religiously biased with the words it features on the front page of the app. Much of the words featured are just Leftist agenda getting pushed down your throat, instead of actually funny words, and it's absolutely asinine. Most recently it's started taking jabs at religion as well, which is something nobody wants to hear about when you're on an app where you expect to have a good laugh. Urban dictionaryI just got the app today I think it’s pretty cool and fun but as I read other reviews I’m starting to doubt the app but so far I’m doing well. I think this app helps you understand the word better because in normal dictionaries they give you long words you just don’t understand but thanks to the urban dictionary I can actually understand the actually teenage version of the word. Too much politicsUrban dictionary is very fun and useful in some measures but they have went out of their way the past while to make the word of the day an anti conservative phrase someone has made up very often and earlier this year it seems to be daily.
