Pretty goodThis game is a card game that I suggest you try it out. The amount of replay ability and variety of different decks to create is beyond I can imagine. Now that being said, there is always problems; $. I see why people are complaining that to be able to play and make these wild, crazy, and fun decks, you have to spend money. Card packs in this game don’t come often unless you buy them, and a pack is always not gonna give you something your gonna end up using. I get that it seems like a cash grab, but honestly, I just don’t see a problem here. I know that maybe blizzard is probably trying to reel in some cash, but I’ve never spent anything with real money, and I honestly still like the game. Sure getting the gold to buy a pack, and opening to realize it’s not much useful, can be in itself, feel like you wasted some matches to get nothing, but even then, I built my decks pretty fast, and although i get a new addition to it once every 5 openings or so, I don’t mind having to grind to it. It’s just that there’s so many things to do in this game, I hardly ever get bored when it comes to using the same cards, but maybe that’s just me. Also please stop complaining about the bugs. Every time there is a bug it ends up getting patched. You really just need some patience and that is all. In the end, try this game out, give it a day or two, and if you feel like you wanna play some more, go ahead..Version: 23.2.137922

Amazing game with an unlimited amount of fun and strategy.Over the years I’ve recognized a passion within myself for this game I love the strategy the challenges and the different stories that go along with it the developers have done a great job keeping the game different over the years so it never feels monotonous. You don’t have to pay anything to actually get ahead in this game within the ranking system for certain modes and you can still earn cards and decks and rewards without spending any money. The game offers a lot of different strategies techniques and there’s a huge online community always available to give you information to better your decks and strats. I have always love blizzard games and I’ve been a fan since the beginning keep on keeping on guys!! *****SIDE NOTE*****. anybody out there that gives the game less stars because of a bug or some type of network lag or application problem they experienced, lacks the understanding that technology requires tweaks, it’s something new, of course there will be an occasional issue, it happens on every platform and every game. Some people are able to recognize them and some cannot. My point here is that you lack patience for the develops that made the game. Give them a moment to see what is going on and to fix it. Blizzard has been an amazing company until the merger with Activision, however they still do a great job maintaining their games. This behavior alone, Blizzard has built their reputation off of..Version: 19.4.73652

Yes, it’s free, it takes patienceIt’s a great game and I have played for many years. It is quite feasible to play for free, but you have to be ready for the long haul. If you aren’t, don’t start. Also, forget the wild format. Its a dumpster fire and you’re already way too far behind to chase it. Standard is all I play and here is the formula… Collect gold by completing daily quests, but DO NOT spend ANY of it. You can collect around 8K to 10K to spend when the next set arrives. Each mini set will cost 2K so you will have around 6K to 8K to spend at once when the next full set releases. That’s 60-80 packs. You will get all commons/rares and get about 1500 dust from duplicates. Do this for each of the three cycles in the first two years and you will be able to play at zero to minimal cost. You can opt to pay some up front for the first/current set to get started. At the beginning of the third year dust all cards that go to wild which should give 30K-40K in dust to distribute over the three sets for the year. Again, more patience. Don’t blow it all on the first set of the year. I’m sure some people freaked out at the mention of the third year, but like I said it takes patience:). One more tip..Don’t try to play all classes early on. Aim to get a good set for two or three classes and learn to play them well. It is an expensive trap to jump from class to class and truly expect to suddenly win. Good luck and enjoy..Version: 25.0.156347

🐸I have been playing hearthstone since the day of its release. I really enjoy playing card game passively in my free time, and this fits in to scratch that particular itch. I think this game is probably the most polished of any card game I’ve played wether mobile or not, blizzard does not skimp on quality here. With all of the updates and changes over the years with achievements and the addition of tavern brawl and the two other game modes, there isn’t a lack of content here. Most people will complain about the steep price hearthstone has, and yes it is true but honestly this game is truly free to play. Will it take you forever to get decent cards? Of course but with the free packs every week and special events that happen, If you play this game for fun and less for competition you’ll eventually get every card you’ll need. If you’re the type of person that looks at a free to play game and thinks, well if I don’t need to pay money I won’t then this game is perfect for you. It’ll take time for you develop a collection, but games are meant to be savored not consumed. If you are big into the competition seen, this game is expensive, but you are probably coming from another card game like magic the gathering or yugioh where you can easily spend that kind of money if not more to make a decent deck. Either way this is a fun game, give it a shot, the animations and voice acting are superb. This game is worth giving a shot..Version: 20.0.77662

Battlegrounds is now pay to win instead of play to win.I enjoyed Battlegrounds ever since beta and it was my main reason for playing Hearthstone. You use to be able to save your gold to unlock each season and now it’s behind a paywall. Why is this a problem, because you get two heroes to choose from instead of four. Most of the games have people that conceded because both heroes are gimped. I never use to concede as I could find at least one of four that I liked playing, now I concede 2-3 games at the start. Which makes it so you might concede after round one if you’re playing a hero that requires other players to play against. If I’m playing Ragnaros the Fire Lord for example and I start the game and 1 person (usually more) have conceded there is a good chance I will be eliminated before I unlock the hero power because there’s not enough minions to take out. This will lead me to concede. A lot of players are playing the same way because of the two hero issue and it’s making the game a chore to find a good hero and a game where everyone stuck around. I use to play to rank up, now knowing that it’s a game of concede I play the occasional game for fun and don’t care about my rank as I will probably lose it from conceding often. Blizzard, if you’re going to put a paywall up please at least give everyone a fair start and allow us all to choose from four heroes..Version: 24.2.148211

Not as good after the new wears off!I originally gave this game a 5 star fantastic review, but I now must take it back... This game is fun, but there are also a LOT of un-fun things about this game! The arena is the most disappointing part in my opinion. It is highly inconsistent and I have had so many drafts where my card pool was so terrible that even if I was a grandmaster level player I wouldn’t be able to get 3 wins. Then there is the overall cost to be a competitive player and have a small variety of decks. This isn’t like typical card games where your cards hold actual trade/sale value. So all you can do is pay for packs and hope to either get the cards you are hunting for or 4 other cards of that rarity to break down and create the card you want, IT’S A FLAWED SYSTEM! I know Blizzard is loving the cash flow though! If the game continued to hook you up with packs, the way it does when you are a new player, then it would make the game more fun! I loved playing and winning packs, it motivated me to spend money. All those free packs dry up fairly shortly after you start playing regularly. And the quests hardly pay a half pack a day, it makes the game dull! Who wants to continuously play with 1 or 2 decks every day? Not me, it gets boring, then you can’t even get value out of crafting 1 deck into another, it’s all bad. Blizzard seriously needs to improve the games dull factor..Version: 14.4.31353

10 Years StrongAll I can say is that if you really like card games, paper or digital you can’t go wrong with what is weird to say the OG of the genre. The gameplay can be summarized as stupidly simple to learn, hard to master. If you need an analogy, it’s MTG simplified, but make no mistake that doesn’t make the game less complex. Rather, the game lets you know what is possible within its confines and what isn’t. While also automating things that paper TCG players hate, like rolling for effects, shuffling the deck, making tokens, etc. In terms of constructed play It’s got a strong standard format and a crazy eternal format. While it could use more formats, there are 4 constructed, 2 of which are “good”, being standard and wild. Twist needs a little more thought behind things such as bans and legal sets, but has huge potential. Classic is just, okay, it’s vanilla Hearthstone before power creep set in, so no real depth honestly. Sounds ranty, but the point is there are options for everyone. You even have have a “free” game mode, called Battlegrounds which is this games version of autochess, which I cannot lie is addicting and infuriating. Only gripe is they’re both packs/loot boxes and multiple battle passes. But even those aren't blasted in your face so, to an extent that’s “nice.” TLDR: Like WOW it’s lasted 10 years and counting, so it’s pretty good, plus I can play it on the can..Version: 28.6.193541

You need to play a lot to play free.I’ve gotten to a point now where I play enough to get enough gold for lots of packs for each new expansion. But it only got to this point because I used to pay a lot, so I have enough bad cards to disenchant for the good new ones I don’t get that come out. However, I do believe you can reach high ranks including legend without paying a cent. All new users to hearthstone get a free meta deck. I believe these get updated with each expansion. These may include few or many legendaries and epics, *especially “highlander” or single card decks that include synergy cards by only having 1 copy of each card in your deck (but by the time next year comes these cards rotate out so highlander decks will be gone). When you start, pick a deck with lots of legendaries and epics, play that deck and play the game a lot to build up a bunch of gold by doing quests and do the “tavern brawl” every week for a free classic pack, also with each new expansion you get straight up free cards and a free legendary, along with free card packs with new expansion quests. Over time, you get into a rhythm of saving up gold for the next expansion, disenchanting crap cards and making 1 to 3 viable great decks for each expansion. You have to play a lot, your limited to a couple classes as well, but I find that it’s actually more fun to main a class or 2 anyway. Good luck..Version: 18.0.54613

Fun game, but...The game overall is fun, I would give it 5 stars. However, the first time I downloaded it it wouldn’t let me make an account, which is needed to play with friends and save my progress. When I finished filling out the account creation form, it asked for a security input, which I assume is one of those ‘I’m not a robot’ pictures where you type in what it says. I was unable to do this security input because it wouldn’t load the picture so I couldn’t see what it was. If you’re under 18 there is no security input, so I set it to my actual birthday hoping to go through a parent email to get my account activated. When I tried to do this, however, a dark red rectangle with an x in the upper left corner appeared when I clicked ‘create account’. I assume this box is meant to tell you what’s wrong, but nothing was wrong and the box was blank. I had filled out all the fields correctly. After this, I decided the game was taking up too much space on my phone, so I deleted it planning to reinstall it once I freed up some space. After I had more space, 2.8 GB to be exact, I redownloaded the game. After I downloaded it, I had 1.3 GB left on my phone, which shouldn’t be an issue for anything. When I opened the game, it said ‘Failed to get update. Please check your network connection.’ My WiFi works perfectly fine for everything else, so this should not be an issue. The game fully downloaded all 1.5 GB so I don’t understand why it doesn’t work. Please fix this..Version: 14.2.30795

My opinionI’ve been playing this game for a long time and I’ve read a lot of the reviews. I hope new players see this and take it into consideration. This game is very difficult to start fresh in, other people point out that you either have to spend a lot of money or time to even try and catch up to players that have been playing for years and it’s true. In my opinion if you’re thinking about getting this game on a whim and it’s not something your seriously interested in play don’t get it, however if you are serious it’s very possible to play semi regularly and without paying any money. Play they game and focus on the challenges they put out, it might be a slight grind but it can be a very fun and enjoyable game. Play the solo quests and take advantage of any and all free offers. Save the gold rather than buy packs as soon as you get the coin, and take 10 minutes to look through the different deck builds to find one you like. This game does without a doubt have its downsides but it’s also really fun and I enjoy playing it and probably won’t stop anytime soon. If you read this I hope it’s been insightful and if you’ve considered getting it because of this review try and enjoy it! But don’t stress yourself out or burn yourself out trying to grind, it’s game your supposed to enjoy it..Version: 25.6.168788

Superbly polished gameBlizzard has built a beautiful game, the production value is abnormally high for a mobile game. The game has good mechanics, and a reasonable approach to “free to play” IMHO. The paywall basically boils down to: you need to choose your engagement/investment level. If you want to play for free and slowly build your collection, you can do that... but, you probably won’t be playing any super competitive decks with all the power cards for at least your first year, and will always make come budget compromises. If you want to fast-track into highly competitive play and run all the best cards, there is always $$$. Blizzard actually improved the F2P experience in a recent update by raising the baseline gold offered by all daily quests while also lowering their completion requirements. It’s now easier and more rewarding to complete daily quests. Personally, I take a mixed approach and set a budget of what I’m willing to spend on the game in a year and buy cards selectively at new set releases, then otherwise just operate using quest gold. Pick how you want to play, just please don’t complain about the paywall. There are no “surprises”: you choose when and how much money you want to spend. If you want all the best cards, don’t want to save for them and don’t want to pay for them, then this probably isn’t the game for you..Version: 11.2.24763

Great game.I have spent 100+ hours in this game and have played it semi-steadily since its initial release. It’s a great game that has evolved intelligently over the years. It is definitely not a pay-to-play game. It’s true, you do have a choice to pay for card packs and extras, but win rate is not effected at all by a players readiness to drop money into the game. It’s this aspect (among many others) of the game that reflects favorably upon the developer’s good choices during game development. There are many resources in game and online to help new players craft top tier decks that have high win-rates in ranked play. Many of these decks use simple card choices and strategies. However, don’t be fooled by my use of the word “simple.” It’s a very challenging game and will test your strategy and tactical skills. You will suffer some frustrating losses, but these should not reflect badly on the exceptional development team blizzard chose for this wonderful game. All losses challenge your skill to adapt decks that can be used semi-consistently agains all heros, decks, and strategies. All losses are learning experiences rather than testaments to the game’s apparent imbalance. I probably should have given this game a 4.5, or perhaps even something close to a five, but no game is perfect or without flaws. However, this game is very possibly the closest a mobile-friendly game has ever come to being “perfect.”.Version: 11.0.23966

Hearthstone is great. It’s not perfect, butIt’s the game I may have played most my whole life. It scratches almost all of those magic the gathering itches and is a lot cheaper to play. Being a mobile app makes it more accessible too. I’ve spent many hundreds of hours and even a couple hundreds of dollars on this game. It’s very easy to justify a purchase on this game over buying a new piece of media for entertainment due to the replayability of Hearthstone. I’ve been playing since it’s second expansion and though I did find myself taking a 1 year break from the game, I believe such intermissions of obsessions are common in this field. I have taken many breaks from magic the gathering, and like magic I’ve found myself back into hearthstone. Just like riding a bike. I was back to rank 5 on the competitive ladder in just 1 day. Though now they have added a new way to play that is free and requires you to have nothing but time. Battlegrounds is my new favorite way to play hearthstone. I hit rank 3 on the ladder before discovering the joy of battlegrounds and now I’m having trouble doing anything but battlegrounds. Cheers to the new development team. I was worried about the state of the game after the departure of Team 5’s first lead, and former head director of HS, Ben Brode, but hearthstone is just as fun and animated as ever. Looking forward to the demon hunter!.Version: 16.6.43246

Only game there isSuch a good game. This is the only game to completely hold my interest across so many years and it never gets stale always new content expanding game modes and stories. Even a cool yearly rotation that keeps things fresh. Regular matches have 3 play styles, there is a weekly wacky custom game called brawl, so many play styles and decks, duals, mercenaries, battlegrounds, solo storyline and more. So many unique play styles that are all worth playing. Two areas it falls short. You cannot talk to other players. A voice chat on/off option during matches would be very cool. People only message you when they are upset and they lost a match, and even then it’s typing when if you’re in a game is hard to do while playing. And you can’t use the in-game gold to buy a lot of the items. You can still do free play on the games and do well, and use gold to get more cards. But lots of cool stuff I wish you cooks get just by saving up and playing a lot. Even if the gold price is really high there should still be one. Especially I think all of the fun visual items should be unlockable with the gold you can earn. Outside of these small things there are endless good things to say and I recommend anyone who reads this to play this..Version: 25.0.159202

Love this game but mobile UI is WAY too smallI am on an iPhone 11 which has a fairly decent screen size. I pretty much exclusively play Battlegrounds which is my favorite mode. I play it on PC often but I figured I’d download the mobile version for when I’m on the go for work and have some downtime. The mobile version works just fine, but my problem with it is there is a TON of wasted screen space. On either side of the playfield there is a large border that is fine on PC but on mobile every tiny bit of screen space matters. I often end up in situations where I have some cards in my hand and I have no idea which card is which, and I waste several seconds of my turn just trying to see which card I’m about to select. Then, because the UI is so tiny, i oftentimes choose the wrong card and play it by accident because I’m trying not to waste too much of my timer. This ends with the wrong units being summoned, the wrong cards being chosen to buff or for effects, it’s just a mess and extremely frustrating because it’s easy to accidentally derail your whole strategy just because the tiny UI screws you over. If you guys could figure out a way to utilize screen space better for mobile devices that would be awesome and it’d be a 5 for me. As it stands it’s just not very much fun to play because it’s very finicky and frustrating..Version: 23.6.142295

Honest ReviewThe game is a strategical with many millions of different combinations of play styles. It also has multiple game modes, all which are unique, respectfully. The upside is one could get addicted to this game because it is very engaging and fun. The down side is starting off a on a new account is massive disadvantage. Just to have even a slight chance against the top players, a player would need to spend at least $150 BUT, that is only one game mode out of 6 different ones to choose from. I’d say out of the 6, you’d only need to pay to win for 2 of the categories. The other 4 categories are still super fun and you don’t need to pay 2 win. It’s more luck based and skill based. Card animation is also a problem for mobile gamers. They do take a bit longer to play (compared to cpu card animation) and that is an overall disadvantage. Other than those 2 problems I’d say this game is still pretty solid. You don’t have to play pvp (a pay 2 win category) to enjoy the game. Personally I’d recommend battlegrounds and arena for free 2 play. I’d recommend buying an account from a trusty worthy site for much cheaper if you’d like to play pvp (you’ll save around $50-$125 buying an account)..Version: 21.0.88998

Solid Card Game, Great Solo PlayI got sucked back in for the first time in 5+ years, and it’s grown a lot since then. Like most games, there’s micro-transactions for ‘loot boxes’ and bonus content, but there is more than enough free content that not buying them doesn’t impact your play all that much. The solo adventures have gotten wayyyyy better since the game first came out. Mercenaries is a lot of fun, the story-type heroes campaigns are really cool and very challenging. When it first came out I felt bad that I couldn’t participate in the seasonal campaigns because I couldn’t afford the micro-transactions, but now there’s more than enough content that I don’t feel the FOMO like I did before. It might change if/when I get through the free content, but that won’t be for quite some time. You can get a lot of free cards and packs and stuff even from just the solo play campaigns if you don’t want to face the arena, duels, vs, etc. You can earn coins to go into the arena, earn prizes based on that, and earn more coins etc that it should pay for itself without having to throw real world money at it. If you have the expendable cash, go for it fam, but it’s not such a strict paywall to the point where poorer players are not left in the dust..Version: 25.0.156347

Not rating the base game, just battlegroundsBattlegrounds is an experience that you don’t find in many other games. Everyone starts from the bottom, and from there it’s up to you to adapt what you’re given to be the last one standing. I’ve played battlegrounds for a long time now, and even though I’ve never spent a cent on the game that doesn’t stop me from getting a good placing. The most amazing thing about it is that despite playing so many games, I still can find new unconventional ways I’ve never seen anyone use to make a strong build and place first with, although there is certainly an aspect of RNG to the mode, 99% of the time I do badly is my own fault, gambling for a specific build rather than rolling with the punches. There are occasionally builds that tend to outmatch others, but if you know how to counter them you can even beat an army of divine shield, poison murlocks with an army that would usually be crushed. And builds that are brokenly overpowered are nearly always nerfed sooner or later, but even with the occasional imbalances and things I dislike, you are far from locked into a single build, and it’s nearly always in your power to pull together a contender for a win..Version: 24.4.150659

Update makes game not enjoyable.I’ve played this game for almost 3 years now. In the beginning I loved the game! The card design and strategic gameplay was fantastic! That being said, this new “year” of hearthstone has been unenjoyable to say the least. Before the game was balanced out very well. Now I feel as if the game has thrown the strategic gameplay out the window. Now it’s turned into a luck based game. You’d be doing good at one point then the opponent plays one card and wins them the game. There’s too many cards that automatically wins people the game which makes for tasteless gameplay. Even if you play the game’s supposed “best decks” it still doesn’t not change the luck based gameplay. Meaning that a brand new player can “strategically” beat someone that has a high rank. I’m not even sure the game can be fixed at this point in the meta. Go back to the old ways where people had to strategize instead of adding broken cards that automatically win people the game if it can’t be killed in time. Too many over-powered cards around these days. I’d say this game is definitely not F2P. Also to add the best decks at most give you about a 50% win rate. However, that is if you get lucky enough to draw the cards you need..Version: 14.4.31353

Very Addictive Strategy GameI have been playing this game for years. The way they release expansions allows new players to jump in. Its possible for occasional players to be competitive, but only if you understand the strategy behind your deck. You can copy decks online with an easy copy and paste (smart!). If you know the game well enough, you might concede a game early. Every deck has a weakness so its very rewarding to anticipate what the other player is trying to do and then respond. To be honest, if you want to be casual, it would help if you completed the daily quest and maybe pre-purchase the expansion if you don’t have any cards. Expansions come out fairly frequently and they change game dynamics significantly enough that it always creates a fun learning curve. You can buy extra packs easily off just completing daily quests at a reasonable rate. It does seem harder to get legendaries now, but this is partly due to a larger number of possible cards and how often they release new cards now. Games sometimes take longer than desired due to the other player taking forever. Only complaint is I wish they would slightly reduce turn time and the cost of expansions/packs because if you get addicted this game is a money pit..Version: 12.0.25770

Garrosh’s BRAWLPlease fix Garrosh’s BRAWL card! Why would you make a card that allows you to put your characters/creatures against the opponents and have the out come be in Favor of the opponent majority of the time? Most players don’t even wait for the board to be full to play the card especially if you’re playing professionally! I use to have a different account but due to your non existent account recovery system I had to create a new one after my email was hacked and the only way I can recover it is to access an old email that’s unaccessible. But I have played since day one!!! The BRAWL card does give the player a way to make a come back partially however if the outcome lands in the favor of the opponent, which most of the time it does then playing the card almost becomes pointless. Especially when other main characters can completely destroy all your characters/creatures with one card. If the character/creature card I played would beat the others in a down right BRAWL including card abilities and enchantments, then that card should win in the outcome of a “BRAWL” hands down! I’m sure any player would agree with me. You maintenance the game all the time so please maintenance this card! Thank you! I will change my review accordingly to what I find within the game..Version: 27.2.183876

Awesome game!I’ve been playing this game for years, and it never gets old, and I’ve never paid a cent!! There is an enormous amount of playability and variation, you can never run out or do it all. People who are complaining about needing to spend money are just feeling like they’re missing out by not having the most spectacular cards. So buy them if you want! But the system matches you with appropriate players, so you never end up being out powered, and it’s far from boring with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of cars to choose from and many more coming out all the time. The whole thing is about being creative with how you make your deck and you don’t need the most overpowering cards to do that, in fact it’s basically laziness if you want to win that way. This game is fantastic and super deep. My only complaint is that one of the heroes - The Lich King - is better than all the rest, so lots of people play it and it feels totally unfair and again like they’re being lazy and almost like they’re cheating. I never play that character and love it when I wipe the floor with it, which I do frequently with my finely assembled decks..Version: 26.2.174258

Only mobile game I needI have been a hearthstone player for a little over 2 years now. I have spent countless hours at work, home, and on the go playing. This is a very strategic, action packed, and all around fun filled game. Although some may not all of the constant updates and changes, I feel as though it keeps the game fresh. I have achieved legendary rank multiple seasons and have a lightforge arena key. So yes, I am amongst the best of the best. I have not spent a single cent of real money on this game. I repeat, I have not spent a single cent of real money on this game. It is NOT pay to win as so many other frustrated (and probably bad) players say. This game takes time, patience, and good decision making. Do the daily quests and you’ll get yourself a decent collection in no time. And trust me, you can completely turn around almost any game by executing smart plays and having a little bit of luck on your side. If you are or were a WOW player, then you’ll appreciate all of the characters, sound effects, and little references hearthstone makes to the game. Overall I simply cannot rate this game under 5 stars. The graphics, content, and immersive gameplay always keeps me at the edge of my seat..Version: 14.4.31268

Good game but stupid broken eventsListen developers, I think the “Solo Adventures” needs to be fixed and reworked, I’ve spent more time in that area more than anything. Especially rumble and monster hunt, it’s almost like you guys set it up for the player to fail regardless and honestly the passives/treasures needs a bit of an upgrade or rework. They’re some passives that help extremely good and others are just completely useless and terrible. I think you should let the player choose whatever all the passives he likes, not the three passives that are randomly generated. The higher AI’s shouldn’t crush you down really hard when you continue to climb. I understand it’s supposed to be very very challenging but in my opinion I think it’s too much by a lot. Also in ranked play games. I wanna see if you guys can do like a similar skill system and not by random players amongst the same rank or something like that. Make it to were a system can easily put to players who has the same skill level and decks that can be game changers and not like... outright kill a player in the 3rd or 4th turn. More balanced is needed and hopefully you’ll see my response. Overall the game is amazing! I will continue to try and play it more..Version: 13.0.28116

Awful Company, great physical GameI have been playing hearthstone since the release of the “whispers of the old gods” expansion which came out in early 2016. Back then, there was already player outcry for better rewards from play, and blizzard eventually responded by giving people more gold for quests which was an excellent way to help players expand their collection. With the release of the latest expansion, hearthstone promised the players that we would obtain more rewards with the next gold system (a battle pass) and right when it came out the system seemed great and easy to use. However, after playing for mere hours, the amount of time required to earn the same amount of rewards in the past was simply stupid. Hearthstone has yet to respond and has paid off many of the larger streamers of the game who refuse to account for this issue. It is for these reasons I rate a 5 star game a 1 star game. The game is very fun to play, but when you spend $80 on a new expansion and only get 30% of the cards there is an issue. Additionally when EA responds to an issue faster, there is an issue. I would NEVER recommend this game to anyone and I only play for nostalgia..Version: 19.0.65614

Good Game but PredatorySo I have a ton of respect for Hearthstone, and this game is fun and interesting on a very deep level to me. Blizzard does a superb job on the art, the old and evolving mechanics of the game, and simply their genius behind pushing out actually new content that changes the game on a regular basis. What’s not good is both the loot boxes and the match making. You’ll get pigeon holed quick with matchmaking to facing off against perfect counter decks to any type of deck you build. Generally this can be good to help teach through failure the current meta, but it often gates you to fully go into that meta without making your focus gaming the loot box system. Of course you could also just buy the loot boxes, but then there’s no guarantee you’ll get enough cards to complete a meta deck. This is psychologically predatory combining loot boxes and matchmaking together, but it’s making them a crazy profit and there’s no real laws against what they’re doing yet. If you’re wondering if you’re getting matched to a “Worthy Opponent” it’s just not an accurate statement. It’s a fun game, I’ve spent years on it, I enjoy it for me, but you’re not me, and so player be warned..Version: 25.4.165029

Love the game but it’s going down hillI’ve been playing this game since the second expansion and have always really enjoyed the game. Over the years it feels like the game has become pay to play and you can clearly see it with the current game. Also the amount of power creep is insane and is only getting worse and you can see this across all game modes. Battlegrounds when it first came out was amazing and is still a ton of fun to play but if you don’t get a couple of the right minions then you get steam rolled quickly. They need to bring back the gold option for buying the battlegrounds pass. Also speaking of gold, I rarely open packs these days. I save up to either buy the mini expansion set or when a new expansion comes out I’ll buy like 10-20 packs depending on how much gold I have. Also I’ve never been able to hit platinum since trying to put a competitive deck together is impossible since you can never collect enough of the right cards even when I disenchant other cards which leaves my other classes nonexistent. To end on a positive note, I absolutely love the single player dungeon runs. Kobold and catacombs, witchwoods, etc they are so much fun and I wish they would make a new version..Version: 27.2.185054

ExcellentDisappointed to see this game getting “1” spammed. It’s an excellent game. Solo adventures are a great way to get exposure to the new release cards and the new meta. If you are free to play it will take a good amount of time to build a solid collection, and you may be better off focusing towards wild ranked instead of standard because your crafting investments will hold up significantly better over time. The nerfing and questing/rewards systems are well designed and help keep game play fresh. Arena, tavern brawl and now battlegrounds in beta to mix things up when you’re ready for a change of pace. It can take a big time commitment to complete a match so probably not the ideal game for a “quick round.” The download is large, but the data used to play a game is very small (in the scale of MB/hr), a great alternative option to streaming videos (GB/hr) when you are using cellular (though connectivity can be a little bit impacted). Took a break off this game for a while and really impressed with how much improvements were made and you can tell the developers have taken their customers feedback into consideration. Great game and can’t recommend highly enough..Version: 16.0.37060

Could be so much better.I’ll cut to the point. The game is good but it’s a pay to win. You can only get so far in ranked or modes like battlegrounds if you buy some card packs or perks. You won’t get far with the free handouts for leveling up and talent alone, eventually you’ll reach competition that has put money on the game and they will beat you. That said, you can still win every now and then if you just so happen to get some decent cards and take over early in a match, just not often. That aside, the game does crash A LOT. I’ve got a brand new iPhone 11 with a great phone service and I still crash every single day that I play the game. My internet is AMAZING, I can run multiple consoles at once with no lag and even playing hearthstone on that wifi...I’ll still crash. If you’ve got money to spare and don’t mind crashing mid game then you can overlook the bad side and probably enjoy the game. But the PvP side of the game is ridiculous. They’ll say that they only pair you up with “fair” matches depending on your progress and your wins and losses but that’s just not true. You’ll win a match or two and fight people way out of your league that have the luxury of dropping money on the game to get better cards..Version: 26.0.170824

Hard to argueEven with all its flaws, this is still hands down my favorite mobile game. I admit I’ve paid into it, but I don’t believe it was necessary to have fun or be successful. There are man useful websites that give you detailed lists of “cheap” decks for each race that can carry you to top ranks. I started out using these myself before I was able to get creative with the game. These decks are low on epic and legendary cards but still get the job done. Utilizing these decks each expansion will help you build a library and eventually start adding those legendary cards into the mix. The solo adventures are tons of fun, battlegrounds is fun, duels is fun, and the new mercenaries mode is fun. I have played for a long time and still find new ways to have fun. Yes there are flaws, on the surface it looks like a pay to win system and you will undoubtedly run into those “meta” decks that always seem to win. Like I said I have paid real money here and there, and also didn’t regret it at all. For me it’s hard to argue anything negative when I have personally gotten so many hours of enjoyment out of this app..Version: 21.8.125997

Want to be competitive in standard? Then you need to pay.I always thought that decks with neutral cards that replaced certain class cards could still be competitive in standard mode. Unfortunately that is not the case, and most decks out there have like 90-95% of the same cards with some decks out performing others by carrying more (epic/legendaries) etc. I spent around $90 on this game and I still don’t have the amount of cards that I need to go past platinum 5 in ranked standard mode. Most Demon Hunter, Paladin, Druid and Hunter decks carry the same cards. If you carry anything other than the class cards or legendaries that come with some of these decks, you will most likely not be competitive enough to ever reach diamond or legendary in standard mode guaranteed. I live for competition and that is what makes games fun is the competitive nature of the game. When you have to pay in order to reach the next tier competitively it takes the fun out of the game. Pros: Graphics, constant new content (tavern, solo adventures etc.), storylines Cons: Invest a lot of money to play competitively, can not play this game without Wi-Fi.Version: 18.4.61154

Frequent crashes ruin an incredible gameI’ve been playing the games a a free to play player for almost 4 years now, and it is without a doubt one of the best CCG’s on the app store. However, as of the past month or so, the latest expansion, Descent of Dragons, has led to at least one crash per game, almost always when trying to play a card from hand. While the reconnect feature helps mitigate the consequences of crashes, the time it takes can lead to a turn skipped, which might cost you the entire game. This is especially frustrating in the ranked mode, where losing each match leads to a penalty. Losing matches is natural, as the variance from game to game makes it almost impossible to win every game, and can normally be attributed to decision made by either you or your opponent, but losing due to a bad client is incredibly off-putting in a game about strategy and decision making. If these crashes can be fixed soon, I absolutely recommend this game and the time it takes to learn the strategy and nuance of game is totally worth the initial confusion. If you have a friend who plays and is willing to help teach you, take them up. Hearthstone has an immense catalogue of over 2000 cards and the learning curve can be quite steep as a result..Version: 16.0.38203

Good only because it’s the only oneI’ve played over 5000 games on hearthstone so this review isn’t out of hate. I enjoy hearthstone, for what it’s worth however hearthstone is not a card game, it’s a card simulation, BIG emphasis on simulation. From first glance you’d think this is a card game and like any card game the nature of probability reigns supreme but in hearthstone that’s not the case. After thousands of games you begin to notice a pattern. Your cards aren’t randomly selected, they’re grouped together based on alike variables. It’s the reason people have adapted to using duplicate cards rather than waiting for the probability of drawing a card. Another thing you’ll notice is that if you Emote you’re destined for failure. Do not emote unless you want the AI to take vengeance on profile for at least the next 4 games, by sabotaging your card selection. And or matchmaking you against cliche strategies, most commonly the priest or shaman. Lastly hearthstone needs to fix its cards instead of continuously making new decks with bigger and better powers that overpower the older cards from rare to legendary. Hearthstone is somewhat fun but there’s a technical way to play that takes advantage of vulnerabilities in the system of cards that in my eyes takes away from the fun..Version: 16.6.43246

Exciting gameThe game can be a lot of fun to play and it has many options, but there are problems regarding the fairness of a game. Generally, it can be said that if a player has legendary cards that fit into his deck the chances of winning a game are higher. These legendary cards are very difficult to get and the more card packs you acquire the sooner you will have some of those cards. Another major issue can be questlines/quests. They are sometimes very effective and can finish games quickly. New stuff has to be tested against older stuff, that is older meta decks must be able to win against new meta decks. Many control decks will now have a difficult time. ***** An epic neutral card (e.g. Costs 2, 2 Attack, 3 Health) with ‘Discover a card in your deck’ would still improve the game ***** Some other issues: What is a Worthy Opponent and how is the opponent chosen? Should it be a Comparable Opponent that is chosen by the computer according to certain criteria? Wild mode needs to be changed or improved. If I lose a game in a Solo Adventure, I do not want to start at the beginning, I want to play the same game again. Many boss enemies are overpowered, a two mana advantage is unfair, one mana is enough … Good Luck! Paul. Redling.Version: 23.0.135540

Long time playerI want to extend a thank you to the hearthstone team. I know there is a lot going on at blizzard now. Hearthstones been growing into a great game. I do agree with some of these reviews that the game is not “noob” friendly. I have an extensive card collection, mainly because I don’t disenchant cards. But still I’m able to play any game mode I’m in the mood for. And I think that’s awesome. I personally love duels myself every play through is different even if I have my core set of cards I use. It took me a couple years from launch to understand the game further. I’ve played every single story campaign on normal before I started playing ranked games. I would recommend this game to anyone that enjoys the lore of World of Warcraft. This game will give you great nostalgia if you have grown to love the characters in World of Warcraft. Just look up the Elwyn Boar. It’s a direct dedication to the South Park episode regarding the “Sword of a thousand truths”. And I tell you what - I failed 10 games in a row before I got to use the sword of a thousand truths. But man was it was epic once I equipped and decimated my opponent..Version: 21.0.88998

F2P Completely PossibleI’ve been a completely free player for this game since I started playing back in the beta, and this is easily the most fair game on the mobile market. Of course, it does take a little while to gather coins and save up essence, but after about a year of grinding, I’ve consistently had at least one highly competitive deck for each following season. Also, even if you don’t want to play the main game, you get the first chapter of each single player mode for free. Alongside Battlegrounds mode, which might be the most fair and balanced game mode I’ve ever played. You need to spend exactly $0 to be the best at battlegrounds, and can climb to the absolute top not only without spending a cent, but also without feeling like others have a competitive edge against you for paying. This game of course has its issues, but Blizzard balances often, and with frequent hot fixes, this game offers a supreme experience whether your pockets are deep or not. Take it from the guy who still wears clothes from high school 7 years later, this is easily a free to play game..Version: 17.4.49534

Worth it and you don’t even realize it yet! This game caught me by surprise almost six years ago. It hasn’t really changed much until recently and even than the base game has remained the same and evolved as well. I don’t usually write game reviews but this game has been in my rotation for a long time. Even when I stopped playing for awhile just because of life and adulthood😂, returning to the game always felt great. I played this game for four years without paying any real money and only recently for the tavern pass which gives an incredible amount of gold(premium currency of the game) and skins in return for a small price compared to other “battle passes” that exist across this industry. You can play unlimited games which no timers anywhere. Simple to play, complex to master is definitely a true statement for this game but well worth it thanks to a balanced matchmaking system. If you’re curious, try it out. You’ll know pretty quickly if you like it or not. I love the characters and for fans of Blizzard and Warcraft it’s even more of a bonus. Thanks for listening!.Version: 24.2.148211

Locked out of game... Please help!Hey, I started playing this game the past two days and I really enjoy it and think it is a great game. I ran into one problem where every time I tried to make an account, it would not complete. I had no errors with the way I was making it (it was a valid email, and I had a strong password following the guidelines) and once I hit “Create my account” it wouldn’t load. I tried multiple times and it didn’t work over the past 2 days. I checked my internet connection and it was fine so that is not the issue. About an hour ago another problem started. Every time I open the app, it doesn’t load in and when it does load in fully it crashes immediately. I’m on a new iPad Pro so the device is not a problem, and internet connection is not the problem either. I was thinking I would just delete the app and reinstall it but then I remembered that my progress would be lost, because I didn’t let me make an account to save my progress. Please help me developers because I really enjoy this game and want to keep playing it but I can’t and I don’t want to lose my progress unless it’s the only option. Please help!.Version: 16.4.42698

Not pay to winWhile waiting for an update I see a few post stating pay to win. This is simply not true, they just lack the patience to put in the time for packs, dust, gold. It can be a grind but to be honest I didn’t even notice, you just adapt your deck to your dust supply until you are where you want to be. I’ve not bought very much, mostly the solo plays and starter pack, but I have several decks that I use without mass pack buying. The only real difference would be buying a meta deck on day 1. Unless you have saved up the dust that could take a few weeks to grind but this really is not a pay to win game and those that say otherwise learn some patience. They made it really easy for beginners with the 50 rank system. Just make sure you choose standard play, wild is crazy. The main thing blizzard does in all the games they ever make is overpower certain classes, aka flavor of the month. However in this game it’s flavor of the 2 yrs. Deathknights were a cancer I was happy to see go. For that reason alone I drop it a star, it may be a good selling strategy but DK Guldan was the most disgusting atrocity to ever enter a video game period, Jaina wasn’t much better..Version: 14.4.31268

Awesome game. Crashes a lotI really love this game but it keeps crashing. I'm still on king mukla for this reason. PLEASE FIX. I LOVE THIS GAME. edit, 3 years later: rng op.Version: 9.1.20970

Transfer of card gold and arcana dustI personally think that the next upgrade should be transfer of gold cards and arcane dust it's surelly a good idea cause everyone want it.Version: 9.1.20970

FunGreat accessible card game. Polished and fun..Version: 9.1.20970

Pay to winThe game is pay to win, and their business model certainly incorporates a great deal of power creep. This does not make it less fun, just don’t waste your time playing competitively unless you’ve sunk a couple hundred dollars into this game.Version: 9.2.21517

No longer ftpIt’s almost impossible for new players to get into, and needing to spend 100$, 3 times a year to get 1/3rd of the cards released in that year. You need to be rich to be able to play this game at its best :(.Version: 19.0.65614

Can’t open game..I reinstalled the app. Every time I open it up to play, I get a message saying that HS has been updated. It then redirects me to the App Store to download the updated version. The problem is I already did. The button on the App Store says “open.” When I press it, it brings me back to the game where it tells me “ HS has been updated.” This cycle never ends. Please fix..Version: 27.4.185749

The new alternative for Legacy (MtG)Blizzard became greedy after this Tavern update. Remember when Hearthstone was free to play? Now it’s pay to win, it’s starting to get more expensive than MtG..Version: 19.0.65614

BugI was update the game already, why always send me to the App Store and said “update”?.Version: 16.4.42174

Enjoyable.People will always find something to complain about. Ignore the crying nerds. Battlegrounds are a lot of fun and you’ll never need to spend a dollar on it..Version: 20.0.77662

Battle pass ruined itThe newly implemented battle pass is a total scam me and all my homies hate the battle pass.Version: 19.0.65614

Hard to enterIf you are a new player this game is incredibly hard to enter. The gold system does not reward new players and you have to throw in some cash to stand against older players..Version: 19.0.65614

Fun game, but $$$$$$$Don’t expect to get hhe full content, without dropping more than 500$/y to stay up to date and 2k+ to get every card released since the beginning. This is very sad, as the game is really fun but getting more and more greedy for your money. F2P yes, but don’t expect to try all the deck without pulling out your wallet. Also, be careful for the cards pack mechanic, very addicting (pure gambling)..Version: 19.0.65614

Update crashing gameKeeps prompting to download update though that has been done..Version: 16.4.42174
