HEAR WHAT NEIGHBORS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT NEXTDOOR

“Before Nextdoor, I didn’t know there were several qualified babysitters living nearby and looking for work. It was easy to feel comfortable hiring my neighbor’s daughter to watch my son after school.” - Patrick, Mission East

“This year for Spring Cleaning, we wanted to sell old appliances, tools, clothing and electronics on Nextdoor Finds. In no time, our neighbors stopped by to make a deal and take things off our hands. It was easier than anything else, and it feels good knowing our old stuff has found a new home in the neighborhood.” - Dan, Hayes Valley

Nextdoor AppI was recently told about this app and I instantly went on my play store and looked it up, read a few of the reviews and comments about the app, because I’m not one who just down loads just any app to my phone because there are some of these apps that are really just trash and there are usually a lot of those scammers on a lot of those apps like What’s App. I wouldn’t download that app to my phone if they paid me money to do it, just a bunch of scammers on the app, but anyway I am really enjoying this next door app. I have connected to a few of my neighbors that live around me and I also find the app very helpful in very many ways so I would definitely recommend this app to anyone else that’s looking for a app that connects you to other people who are interested in keeping their neighborhoods safe and it’s really good to see how people communicate with each other through the app. So I love it so far and I’m looking forward to meeting many more of my neighbors regardless of where they live. And another thing that I really find very great about this app, is that there are also so many people who are also interested in just helping other people out regardless of their ability to pay for the services or the items that they are offering. It’s a really great app for sure and it’s a really great way to help people out..Version: 6.63.6

Options on the appI love this app for so many reasons. I like knowing about car break ins, and things to be aware of for safety of my children at specific times in the day when people mention strange people in the neighborhood. I love responses I get about experienced neighbors have had with specific out patient care like doctors, dentists, and other providers in the area. This app is great for new comers and very welcoming. We learn about good restaurants, outdoor activities, and good vendors etc. The reason I gave this a low rating is because I would live the option to hide specific posts about animals on the lose, or families looking for their animals, and everyone letting each other know when their animals came home or when/where they were located. There have been SO many posts that I wish that there could be a separate option within this app to view the “animals on the loose” posts. It would streamline pertinent information for those individuals who are looking for their animals, and if one was wandering ppl can post in this specific area and allow non-animal owners, or those of us who aren’t seeing lost animals, to streamline the information on the page..Version: 5.256.3

Deleted my thread on Covid which was a great thread.Covid is killing people and I created a thread where people could help each other. You deleted it. I have a lot to say. First the idea is great. However you took down a thread that was possibly the most useful ever. I had created a thread where any neighbor could express their opinion about Covid and report their actual experience. It worked. People were reporting if the testing was accurate. They reported which drugs or otc meds they were using. They reported what equipment they needed to get through the sickness. They reported what their doctor said and what happened at the e r when they went. They reported on relatives who had died. We had many nurses chime in. IT WAS USEFUL. You deleted it and I never was clear why. You said it might discourage people from getting vaxed. Adults should have every piece of info available to make up their own mind. I recreated this thread without the comments and it was much less useful. I was actually crushed that you chose to take something away. Did you know doctors offer nothing? Did you know pharmacists have no drugs to offer? Did you know my entire family cheated death with 30 days or more of Covid? Do you know my daughter died from an immunization reaction? As did my friends daughter? It was a great and unique Covid thread that was a wonderful resource snd you destroyed it. Shame on you..Version: 5.299.6

Scrolling hitchesUpdate: I uninstalled the app (which said it would delete its data), restarted my phone, then reinstalled it. The first couple of times I ran the app, scrolling was smooth again. What was quite weird is: I didn’t have to log into NextDoor again. So it kept some of my data, somewhere (key store?). It did ask for permission to send notifications again. Anyway, let’s see if the scrolling problem builds up again. April ‘22 The scrolling hitches are still there. If you keep the panel moving slightly, even by dragging up and down, it will scroll smoothly through pages and pages of content. But the moment the panel stops completely, you cannot scroll at all for 3-5 seconds. Not can you hit buttons. The app doesn’t heat up the phone, so it’s not stuck in a loop. It just goes idle, and forgets to poll for input. Obviously, QA would have noticed this. So it must be an issue w iPhone 8, only. Maybe a bad assumption about equal update rates everywhere? I’m on the latest OS. March ‘22: The last few versions have a performance bug where scrolling hitches, and buttons are unresponsive for a moment. No other apps on my iphone8 are doing that. I love the service and seeing local posts. Also, it would be nice as an admin of a group to be able pin/unpin posts in the app. Right now, you can only do that on the web..Version: 5.308.10

Neighborhood App ( Review )Hi my name is Kamryn, I have just started using this app today on August 24, 2022. Might I add whilst said I have only just downloaded the app this evening and within half an hour I have already received notifications from different people needing help with work in their yard. I know this app is just a fun nice way to branch out and find what kind of groups you’d like to be a part of which is hard considering the app has over thousands of different groups for you to pick through. Maybe you want to volunteer to help over at the Shreveport Veterans Home Center, or something as simple as watching your neighbors dog for the weekend whilst they are out of town having the time of their lives knowing their pet is safely being taken care of in the comfort of their home and with the most trustable neighbor they could find too. Don’t take my word or anyone else’s about this app, not until you download it and try it out for yourself. Who knows maybe you could make some cash helping others, or even make friends along the way. The choice is yours, but just remember with the Neighborhood App you will always have a neighbor nearby when in need of assistance!.Version: 6.0.4

Way too many updatesThis is 11 updates in about a month. You should not be fixing this many bugs in production software, and I certainly don’t see that many improvements wing made. Version history should be an honest change log, not just the same canned text every time. My internet service is capped and for me to consume over 1Gb per month just for updates to one app is totally unacceptable. Previous review: This is my weekly review of what’s new in this update. Oh, never mind. Can’t find anything mentioned. So I won’t waste time updating the app. This is a revision of my original review. The version history for this app’s last 25 revisions is the exact same text. If you are adding features, then let us know what they are. If you are fixing bugs, then you need to do more internal testing before releasing the change to the public. I need to know what is changing before wasting my time and internet bandwidth on non-applicable updates. This app is useful to me and works well. However, I am annoyed by numerous apps that do a weekly update. Please do more internal testing so you don’t have to update all the time. I really don’t see much in improvements from week to week. I have a slow internet connection, so dealing with 50 apps that need updating all the time is a major pain..Version: 5.301.6

What kind of app is this?Imagine for a minute or two, you have moved into a new neighbourhood and you don’t know anyone including any of your neighbors nearby. You’re right 100% and it’s scary to attempt it. I agree 100%. Your location found at the top will tell other whereabouts you live, not your exact address. Thank Goodness for that! In this app you will find people from all walks of life including those who use chose words (nasty words) and they will get corrected by other people who use this app. Complainers will get corrected too. If you post something and it doesn’t sound right to you, let us know and we will be glad to help out. Same goes for what kind of home service, electrical services, roof repair, etc’s to go to find the right person to help you out. You can think of this app as the yellow pages of your telephone book and never receiving a paper cut. So go ahead and use the services to the fullest and enjoy using this app and who knows you might even run into an old friend from your elementary school years like I have. Enjoy!.Version: 5.301.6

Needs update to delete all notificationsI have had this app for a long time and go on it from time to time. When I was “deleting” Notifications in the app it makes you do them one at a time and keeps adding in past ones from forever ago. It would be nice in an “update” if they had it like Apple Mail or many other apps to have a “Select” tab and a “Delete” tab. Then a “circle” on the left to select any Notifications you want to delete and a simple press on the “delete” tab and those are all gone. Plus, have with “Select” a “Select All” tab so it automatically puts a mark in the circle on the left next to all Notifications. Then once again a simple press on the “Delete” tab and all Notifications are gone. I could not even phantom how many Notifications I have in the app I never read or deleted and swiping to the left did delete them, but more old ones kept loading. How far do they go back I have zero clue and not going to spend probably hours the way it is deleting old Notifications in the app. Hoping Nextdoor reads this and puts these suggestions in a future update to clean up how Notifications in the app are deleted and not take hours..Version: 6.89.4

Good concept mediocre executionIn the age of bot accounts and fraud being so rampant on all social media apps, finding real people in a community is challenging. NextDoor’s appeal is its requirement that members are true residents of their locales and restricting viewership of content to specific neighborhoods. However, since engaging with the app several years ago, I have found it consistently buggy and struggling in its UIX. The bug that has compelled me to write a review is issues with the verification screen in both the mobile app and desktop browser site that prevented me from being able to reverify my residence since moving for over 3 weeks now. The number of email exchanges it’s taken to hopefully resolve would turn most folks off to even using the app should they encounter the same issue, especially those not comfortable with technology. I give 3 stars because I still like the concept of ND and customer support is well-meaning, but the reality is that ND doesn’t have the same capability to execute and deliver as big time social media apps and it shows in the user experience. I’m not asking for all the bells and whistles in this app, just for adequate QA and testing for existing functionalities..Version: 6.70.16

Great app during a natural disasterI’m from Ventura which was greatly affected by the Thomas fire, the largest wildfire to date in California. This app was the best way our city communicated with us during the 3 weeks the fire burned. Through this app, the city was able to quickly post information as they received it about the fire, when people could return home, where to pick up free masks for the smoke and workshops and resources for those who lost their home. Even after the fire was finally put out and the news crews left, neighbors in the affected areas who had lost their home were exchanging information about how to clear the debris, reporting suspicious activity and exchanging experiences trying to manage their insurance claims. I have learned about the difficulties of rebuilding after a natural disaster through this app. I thought this app was mostly just to buy and sell things with rude people but once our city went through a disaster, this app became invaluable, informative and helpful for everyone in our city. To the Nextdoor app team, thank you for playing an integral part in our city’s ongoing recovery..Version: 3.57

The good, the glitchy, and the bad customer careThis app is fine. It’s great for selling because it’s way safer than CL, but it’s really no different than any other social network. Everyone with their inputs and soapboxes is still here. That’s fine though, who cares. What burgers me about this app is that it is extremely glitchy and their policies make no sense. Every message I receive renders a double notification bubble, you can’t change pics out in your ‘for sale’ listings, even though there is a button to click to change them. You can sit there clicking “remove photo” until the second coming ... It ain’t coming down. So then you have to delete the entire posting altogether and repost it. When you have 15-20 postings, this becomes an issue. I’ve now moved exactly 1.5 miles down the road, which means (apparently to these guys) MARS, and they take the liberty of deleting my items. Not put their ability to be sold on hold, not muting the post, not even archiving, but simply deleting them altogether. When I contacted customer care about the issue, they said they could do nothing, as this was their policy. Hmmmm. This tells me they have a VERY lazy and/or sloppy coding team and complaisant customer care group..Version: 4.85

A very happy camper :-)Being relatively new to this program and sometimes and sometimes not such a patient person for which I apologize :-) not only is this next-door program a wonderful program but the products you provide the platform that you offer I’m actually profoundly amazed. I have finally figured out to some degree it really works and I have a business page called grace for life ministries. You all worked very diligently and patiently with me to get it up and running and it is very sophisticated. The platform that you have provided I mean very sophisticated. I have a son with mental challenges and I now have physical disabilities after a recent surgery and I think the general message presented conceptually and verbally as a therapist after all these years is going to be kindness, compassion quality and generous thinking towards others in light of their needs. I think it fits with what you teach and would like now starting a very new year. thank you for all you doing for being so patient with me. Happy new year to you. Sincerely, Dr. Thomas R Miller PhD..Version: 6.18.12

Loving it so far!Just joined in a few days ago and I think I’ll be happy with the concept... Staying informed and connected with your neighborhood and community can make for a better more enriching and fuller life! Promoting the feeling that “we’re all in this together” can only be a good thing cuz even adults need reminders on etiquette and how to communicate with both integrity and grace, which has sadly been going out of style as of late... This app can be the platform for recreating a better, bolder, more involving, more compassionate community with informative and inspiring neighbors who can guide us and teach us that we’re really not all that different from one another and most of us just want the same things... To love and to be loved, to be understood as we are and the capacity and openness to understand others without rancor but with respect and compassion. Well, I’m a dreamer and probably an optimistic, most times, and one can only hope for the best, yet this app gives us all the opportunity, the voice, and to take action to do more than just hope... one neighborhood at a time...!.Version: 3.95

I’d give it a higher review if the notifications worked properlyI’m still fairly new to Next Door, but right off the bat, I found it demanding and overbearing. I got bombarded with emails that I never signed up for. I had to adjust my settings to not receive any emails, then I had to sit there and unsubscribe. For push notifications, I said I only wanted Top Posts and responses to my comments or my posts, instead it sends me notifications to things I’ve reacted to, so I’m being spammed with notification requests for things I don’t want notifications for. Perhaps I’m missing something, but it seems like the settings are too basic, it makes me not want to use the app. I guess for now I’ll just turn off all notifications. There’s a pop up that says “oh you might miss out on ”, but I suppose missing out is better than being bombarded by unnecessary notifications. It would also be nice to prioritize categories, so that I could receive only notifications for specific categories. Perhaps some people like to buy from their neighbors, but that is considered low priority to me, so I would prefer not to see posts. Am I just missing something or does that feature not exist?.Version: 4.98

Awesome APP why didn’t any think of this sooner?!?Ok so let’s admit it, community and neighborhood values have changed in the past days 10 years. We no longer know our neighbors it’s just not the same. Technology may be part of the reason why, amongst other reasons too but hey if technology is keeping neighbors isolated and not out talking to one another then why not use it to our advantage right? .. and that is why I appreciate this App so much. It’s a place to share good news, bad news, warnings/alerts... missing pets/items...offer refer promote or inquire about services ... pitch ideas and generally just communicate with one another. It helps maintain a safer surrounding Keeps people aware and informed and I guess is the new way to be a neighborhood.. take what I can get but I have to admit so far there’s been at least 3 incidents in which this app has benefited me personally ... it’s great. Get your neighborhood involved guys.. it can’t hurt but I can help. Totally recommend the neighborhood app...at least check it out. Thanks to the developers ... one app I’m sure of is this one. Love it!.Version: 3.85

Unkind Comments & inappropriate languageI check this site several times a day & love to see what’s happening in our area. Sometimes I can help people, or at least encourage them when they have a problem. However, yesterday I was dismayed at the response of one of the “founding” neighbors as he made extremely disheartening comments to a lady who was fearing that a crime may be coming her way due to a man who had escaped from prison. The comments even used the “F” word (though he spelled it out) on this site which was inappropriate language for this wholesome site. How disappointing it was to me & to the lady his comments were directed toward. He simply caused more distress for her as she was already fearing that an uncomfortable event could take place in her own home that very night! Fortunately, our law enforcement officers did a great job apprehending the suspect before he had a chance to reach her. She had simply asked her neighbors to kindly look out for anyone suspicious near her home. Isn’t that exactly what this site is all about - Neighbors helping & being good neighbors?.Version: 4.54

It’s like CNN or Fox but on a smaller scaleThis app could be great but the major drawbacks is that most everything you’ll get notified is negative or something that is wrong in the neighborhood. It’s so bad. And the people on there are always complaining about someone doing this or something not working in their neighborhood. It’s toxic. There are good things but none of my notifications ever tell me what good is happening. Instead I get a heavy dose of all things that are bad or negative. (Someone stealing this or someone graffitiing that) And I live in Northridge in LA, which is considered safe. And most people just want to post to aware others but most won’t ever encounter that same experience. What it does is put more unnecessary fear and looking out for someone they will never encounter in their neighborhood. I’m going to delete the app and I suggest not downloading it because all your notifications will get a lot of negative information suggesting your neighborhood is bad. But I particularly live in a peaceful neighborhood. Don’t let this seep into your brain by downloading it or you’ll start to have all those negative information downloaded in your brain..Version: 6.74.0

Great way to stay connectedI signed up not expecting much , that said what a pleasant surprise to see it actually works well . It’s based on staying connected , reaching out , helping one another . I love it !.Version: 5.184.1

Enjoy SiteThere are many alerts to lurking persons in neighbourhoods, many thoughtful neighbours giving to others and of course neighbours who have valued items for others to purchase. Notices from Health agencies, Edmonton Police and etcetera. Notices of lost pets, too!! Thank you for an informative site. :-).Version: 5.202.5

Postcards could be less personalI really like to be able to connect with my neighbours however I wish there was an option on the postcards to have it send anonymously. I just had the delightful 20 minute conversation with my parents about why their friends are getting postcards with my name and street name on them and how it somehow was “irresponsible” of me to do so because they don’t understand technology. It would have just been easier if you could send postcards but had the option to check an anonymous sender so instead of being sent my MY NAME, MY ADDRESS it could say “From a neighbour in your area” or something..Version: 5.174.7

Good app to connect with neighboursVery good app to connect with neighbours😍..Version: 6.76.1

Next door.caI read ALL of the instructions and DECLINED to give access to ALL my contacts; my neighbours see me in person. I’ll wait to see how it uses my info..Version: 5.203.0

UnsubscribingCan someone please advise me how to unsubscribe from this App. I keep getting mail ,even though I deleted the App. I’m sorry I got into this..Version: 5.308.10

Good to a pointThe reviewers are extremely biased but if you ignore that it’s a great app. Reviewers will decide things based on whether they like you or not.Version: 6.89.4

Great welcome Neighbor AppNew to Next Door but appears to be a very well organized and useful tool in engaging communities to work together!.Version: 6.87.12

Professional platform and neighbourly at the same time. This platform is interesting and shocking at the same time when things are happening so close to home and you would not know unless a good neighbour gave you the heads up. We’re all in this together, really so we’re all neighbors..Version: 6.75.2

Home ownerIt’s A great Idea to share between the neighbors and knowing what’s going on in their communities, we should all use it and watch for each others as there is so many stolen vehicles and home invasions happening. And all kinds of theft happening. I love this App..Version: 6.69.6

General Review of Next Door Neighbour.I don’t usually sign up for Chat groups, but after reading some of the posts I thought I would. Being a retired 67 year old with 2 sons fully employed and my husband just finishing his PT job I have been given the gift of time!.Version: 6.74.0
