Slice: Pizza Delivery/Pick Up App Comments & Reviews

Slice: Pizza Delivery/Pick Up Positive Reviews

Pickup or DeliveryOne thing that needs to be more clear on this app is pickup or delivery. It’s very easy to not notice which is selected and frustrating when you want your pizza delivered and it ends up being a pick-up. I had my settings defaulted for a delivery and one day I decided to switch from the usual restaurant I ordered from. There was no obvious indication that the new place did not deliver to me so I was very frustrated to find out I had to run out to get it. The next time I ordered I decided to order from my usual place which always delivers to me. Again no obvious indication that the pizza was for pickup because I always have it set for delivery. I never ended up getting my pizza after waiting hours. I believe one of the most important things about ordering a pizza is how you will be getting that pizza and to have the pickup/delivery buttons such a small part of the ordering process is a reason this app is flawed. Dominoes, Pizza Hut, and papa Johns all have lousy pizza to me which is why I choose local places off of slice, but one thing all those lousy pizza places have in common is their online ordering process is very smooth and clear in what you are getting. No confusion. No mistakes. Make sure to check that tiny pick-up/delivery button on the slice app or you can become frustrated very easily. Especially when drinking/socializing with a group of friends and expecting the pizzas to arrive at your doorstep..Version: 3.7.2

Awesome for ordering pizza for both pickup and deliveryI must say that I love the Slice app and the concept of giving more of the revenue to the pizza shops especially local shops and we have always had good ordering accuracy and never had an issue with the over 10 different pizza shops we’ve tried from the Slice app in different states up and down the East Coast of the US. Some cash only shops will actually except Slice orders but not take a credit card which adds an extra layer of convenience and accessibility for folks looking to operate cashless but also spend their money with local establishments. The fees are almost nothing compared to DoorDash and or Uber eats GrubHub etc. those apps are ridiculous my only complaint with Slice the app itself is that the rewards are really messed up right now and have become very hard to earn which is OK as I don’t use the app with intent to earn the pizza rewards for a cheese pizza as it isn’t my usual order anyway but it was fun to earn prior to the chAnges. annoying to have my five or six points wiped out because my local shops no longer participate but again it’s just the rewards that are messed up and I love the Slice app and could not recommend it enough if you’re looking to order pizza thank you.Version: 6.14.0

HorribleThey partnered with a pizzeria that didn’t answer their order confirmation. They canceled the order due to not hearing back from them. They only let me know that there was an issue with the order via email. Who checks their email at 5:30 on a Sunday?! There’s no in app alert system when there’s an issue, no text alert feature when there’s a problem, just check your email and hope you see the one telling you the food that was planned on and expected isn’t coming, then scramble to make changes because your evening, several hungry kids and the future of your career is dependent on it. When I tried to contact support through the app that feature seemed conveniently “frozen”. When I called to voice my frustration I got the “were really sorry that’s how we do things” message. No attempt made to maintain me as a customer, just a sorry not sorry. If a customer who has been using the app as often as I have actually physically calls to express their displeasure and you make no effort to keep me you clearly don’t care. That’s fine, my local spots all use door dash and grub hub, or I can call them direct, good luck with that business plan.Version: 3.28.0

This app has issuesThe app seems to be pretty good looking and is pretty easy to navigate. But they have some locations wrong on their in app map so a restaurant that is 2 miles away is showing up on their app as being 6+ miles away even though they have the correct address. This causes the user to have to do a search for the restaurant. Of course if you didn’t know the restaurant was where it really is you wouldn’t know it was closer to your location than the app says it is. I contacted them about the issue and didn’t seem to actually read or understand what I clearly stated in my messages to them. I went so far as attaching pictures of the maps of where the restaurant is and where their app showed the restaurant to be. If that’s what they call customer service I would not want to have a more pressing issue with them. I downloaded the app and was using it because T-Mobile had a T-Mobile Tuesday’s deal. Honestly it’s not worth using the app without a discount since I can call the restaurant directly and pick up my food and not have to pay a dollar fee for using the app. Especially when they can’t do something as simple as placing a restaurant in the right location on a map. I let the restaurant know about the issue maybe they will have more success getting them to fix the issue. I’ll go back to ordering the old fashioned way..Version: 5.3.1

Great app needs two updatesWe love the app and works very well. When I first set up the account, I had a typo on my email address and never noticed it but I still receive updates on my cell phone. I had a ton of order history and I also have free pizzas when I made a certain quota of orders. I realized that I had a typo on my email address, but it would not let me update it so I had to create a new account with the correct email. I just had a chat with Support asking if they can transfer the order history to my correct email account and I was told I cannot they gave me the old email address which had the typo and said I had to use that. There should be a way to update an email address. What does a customer to if they happen to change an email and have order history? The way the app and set up, you lose the order history. You should release an update where you can update an email. A second update is to be able to send an email to Support or call chat you should have a third option to send an email and possibly with attachments of screenshots..Version: 6.7.0

Deserves 0 starsI have ordered using the app several times. Today I check my email and it says I’ve ordered pizza in Staten Island, mind you, I live in Florida. I immediately reach out to customer support Via the chat option, since there is no option to call in the app. I indicate to the person that somebody has hacked my account and is using my card and account to order pizza the person responds to me and then ends the chat. I start another chat with the same person named Martin and I asked about my hacked account and the rep Martin asks about my credit card and then ends the chat again. I start another chat and ask why they keep ending my chats and they immediately end it. I go into my account and change the address back to my address and my phone number since the hacker changed it. I reset my password and the person is still able to alter my info in my own account which makes me believe it’s someone at Slice who is assisting in the hacking. But what do I know. I froze my credit card and everything. I chat with a new person who is not Martin finally and she is EXTREMELY rude to me. How can a business with such awful employees succeed. Avoid this app unless want your account hacked and awful customer service..Version: 3.21.1

Across The StreetFrom Abbey Road, I came outside on a cold day to smell wonderful pizza. I’ve ordered from 204 before, and it was really, really good. Today’s a prettier day; so, why not order from them again? Whoops - I just did. 204 Pizza RAWKS An addendum to my previous rating: We’re down to three stars from five. “Why did you do this,” you may ask me. It’s simple: I ordered through Slice to get pizza from 204 Surf Pizza at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. We stay here currently. Our last order had an estimated time of arrival between 6:55 to 7:10 pm. I even went into your chat feature, and Tony Q was nothing more than “we’re sorry, but sometimes this happens.” Interesting. Today, the app needed an update. Once again, this is interesting indeed. Just to let you know, we ordered from 204 Surf Pizza directly from their own website. It took a fraction of the time compared to using Slice, and even the restaurant owners said that they used the Slice platform to get more customer traffic for this time of year. Hmm. And what do I have for multiple orders? One lousy Pizza Point. And here’s the worst part: I can order directly from the restaurant’s website, and get faster delivery (read - service). Out you go, Slice. Sorry..Version: 6.10.0

Prompt customer serviceI recently started to use slice instead of the other place since my favorite pizza shop had a coupon on my order more than once. So I thought I’d try it. No issues with the app and received prompt customer service. I have used the customer service chat more than once with zero issues; receiving prompt and courtesy responses and immediate resolution. An example is when I accidentally order ranch instead of french dressing an Ethan from the chat resolved it immediately. The next time my order was missing meatballs, honest mistake by my favorite restaurant and using the chat he immediately resolved it, received a refund with an explanation that the restaurant misread the order. Believe me it’s my favorite place I order weekly, I know it was a mistake and not the normal. It happens. Overall, I received prompt customer service with quick resolution. And that is more than I can say about grub, grub never responds to chat and rarely do I ever get a live person on the phone. If I send an email it takes 2-3 days for them to respond. Slice had my address information correctly because I took the ownership and manually entered my address and made sure it was correct. I only recommend with competitor sites popping up all over now they add incentives to keep customers using the app. Special dollar menus featuring restaurants, loyalty rewards, promo codes not just refer a friend. Thank you for reading the review and I hope you find it helpful..Version: 3.19.0

Not great when the restaurant runs out of one thingI have never had an issue with using this app service until Mother’s Day (today). We ordered 3 entrees (one for each person) and since the restaurant is understandably busy, elected to pick it up. A few minutes aftee submitting our order, I get a text that my prepaid order has “been adjusted” and there was an email about it. I check the email and one of the entrees was removed and the fee adjusted. This is not acceptable that one of us won’t get to eat, so I call in the app. The representative calls the restaurant and they are out of this item. I ask if I can add something else to the order so we all can eat? Nope. Have to submit a separate order for the replacement item. Of course, since this is not connected to the first order,it bumped the ready time for the new entree well over 30 minutes past when the first order will be ready. We will try to ask the restaurant to expedite this second order. Let me just say this seems like a ridiculous way to manage changes in orders. No longer a fan. I will contact the restaurant directly for all takeout orders from now on..Version: 5.22.0

Exceptional idea, exceptional serviceI recently took a trip to New York City and wanted to try a lot of pizza while I was there. This app was amazing in that regard. Every single place that would deliver to me was grouped up in one place, the menus easily accessible unlike their individual websites, and I could even see reviews for each restaurant. One night, I had a major problem with a restaurant I had ordered from - absolutely no fault of Slice. On the contrary, when I reached out to Slice’s support via built-in messaging, both agents I talked to (yeah...it was a big problem that spanned a good length of time. Still no fault of Slice) were incredibly kind and understanding, and reached out to the restaurant on my behalf to get things sorted out. Now I’m back home in another state, and I’m delighted to see there are 2 places nearby me that I have never even heard of that I can now try thanks to Slice. Also, the delivery fees are exceptionally low. Download the app - you have nothing to lose, and a ton of great pizza to gain..Version: 3.33.0

No background noise= No confusionI was hesitant about using this app over someone’s job but because I wasn’t put on hold I went ahead, used it and than realized how this app will create more jobs as the business becomes consistently accurate the bigger the customer base will get. Have you ever tried to order over the phone and the person wasn’t exactly sure what you said (over all the kitchen noise) but took a guess and you got the wrong food or made the wrong way. That won’t happen here (unless dial-up comes back). I click what I want, put into print exactly what I want and that-my friend-makes for a meal that I craved and not someone else..My delivery guy just handed me my food and said thank you and kept on moving. no fumbling trying to sign receipts or exchanging cash. I think Most people unhappy with the Slice App was really unhappy with customer service at the place they ordered. Slice is just the messenger.. Going for the slice Hoping to go for 2nd’s Ray Miller.Version: 3.6.0

Support your local pizza shopI love ordering pizza from Brother’s Roast Beef, Pizza and More in Peabody. They always make the best pies with fresh ingredients and generous toppings. But sometimes I don’t feel like calling or driving to pick up my order. That’s why I use the Slice app to order online. It’s so easy and convenient. I can browse the menu, customize my pizza, and pay securely with a few taps. The app also lets me track my order in real time, so I know exactly when my pizza will arrive. And the best part is that I’m supporting my local pizzeria by ordering through Slice, which doesn’t charge crazy fees for me or the shop. Plus, I earn free pizza for being a loyal customer with the Pizza Points program. The app also helps me discover new deals, flavors, and toppings that I might not have tried otherwise. Slice is the best way to order pizza from your favorite local pizzeria. Try it today and see for yourself! 😍.Version: 6.15.0

Sad rewards but otherwise decent appI’ve been a user of this app across several cities over the past 3+ years and appreciate how it helps small pizza shops market and deliver their products. There is a definite convenience factor for shops that can’t afford it extravagant marketing or delivery budgets so for that I give this a modest 3 stars. Recently the qualifying order minimum toward earning a free (~$15) large pizza went from $15 per order to $30 per order. Keeping in mind that you need eight pizza points for a free pizza.. instead of spending 8x$15=$120 to get a free $15 pizza you now how to spend 8x$30=$240 to get a free $15 pizza. The rewards program went from pretty good to complete garbage. I will still order from my local shop and I may stop using the Slice app because of this, the convenience factor would be the only reason I continue to do so but I will always try to call in first going forward..Version: 6.2.1

A Good Way to Get PizzaI’m currently in the New York area for school, and I’ve found a pretty good local pizza place through this app! The customer service is top-notch, too: I ordered from a different place that turned out to be not so great, and after calling the pizza place and being told to call Slice, they took care of it entirely! I’m glad their team cares so much about good pizza! My one suggestion—and I’m not sure if this is on Slice’s side or the restaurants’—is that sometimes the menus are incomplete, or not detailed enough. That pizza place I found? They have DEEP DISH PIZZA! I didn’t know that until I went there in person! It wasn’t listed on the app—maybe it’s a special of some kind? But it would be cool if there was a way to show that on the app. It might just be that the pizzeria itself didn’t list it, which is totally not Slice’s fault, so I didn’t subtract any stars. Overall, I’m happy to use this app!.Version: 3.33.0

Used to love this appIt’s such a quick and easy way to order from local shops. But then I noticed that while the fees here are low, the pizza is about $3 more per pie than if I just called the shop directly. Then, they changed the rewards piece this week where now you only get a “pizza point” towards a free pie when you place orders over $30. As a family of 4 with small kids, we almost exclusively order single pies, which means we will essentially never order enough to reach the $30 minimum, even though we order pizza nearly every Friday of the year. I’d rather have no $ threshold and it take longer to get a free pizza (say 10 or 12 or even 15 points instead of 8), than be priced out of it because our orders aren’t expensive enough. The argument for this change is to reward the “most loyal customers” but even if I order 40+ times per year I’m not “loyal” because I don’t spend enough. Doesn’t sound like it has nearly so much to do with loyalty as it does with money..Version: 6.0.0

Suggest improvementsFor the most part this app works well and we typically use it often without issue. However, I don’t understand why the app will recommend a place that isn’t the closest location to you. For example, we have at least 3 Golden pizzas around us, over the years I’ve accidentally not checked the location (due to chaos and splitting headache) and ordered pizza from a location miles away from our house. Why not if you’re already using our location automatically show us the closest locations first or even offer a pop up saying “we noticed there is a closer location to you would you like to continue?” Maybe push the farther located places to the bottom of your suggestions. I prefer pick up because the location we typically use is not even a 1/2 mile away so to have this inconvenience when your head feels split open or your house is full of hungry people is extremely frustrating. Otherwise yes, this app works well..Version: 5.8.0

Customer Service BlowsThe only reason I gave it two stars is because i used the app for a few months without issue . However , when I placed an order , received confirmation on my credit card , and waited 2 hours for my 8PM scheduled delivery , which was to arrive at our house when we both got home from work . It never showed, my cart was empty , and I didn’t receive and email or notification. When i explained this to customer service , while seeing if maybe it just wasn’t showing up but the food was still en route , I was disagreed with and assured that this could never happen. I’m not 75, I’m 24, I’m pretty sure I know how to use the app. Next time, when a processing errors occurs on your end , accept it as a possibility instead of telling the customer that it’s impossible. Never again. The pizzeria I really like only delivers on GrubHub anyway..Version: 3.33.0

An ok app with a few bugsSo, this is a really hard app to rate in many ways. It’s convenient in that, especially when travelling, you throw in your address and bam, lots of local rates pizzerias... but the ratings are hit or miss, you have a lot of local fans rating awful pizza highly and vice versa NY pizza snobs crapping all over everything else. It also fundamentally removes one of the best things about local pizzerias: coupons! You get a flat % off with every order, but never benefit from coupons that might offer much larger discounts, so all in all it’s a more expensive option for very little extra convenience. Another HUGE problem is that the menus often are incomplete or lacking in descriptions that could be found on other delivery sites or the website of the pizzeria you’re order from... which often enough has online ordering rendering this entire exercise as pointless. It’s a good idea, but needs a LOT more refinement before it’s really worth it to not just order a pizza..Version: 4.0.0

Impressions from an Over-The-Top TipperI like to think I’m fairly savvy, when it comes to the apps I use. They’re all in it for money, you’ve gotta make ends meet and that’s just how life is for now. This app, however? Even if it isn’t 100% sincere, I MUST say I am enjoying being pandered to by it. I love local businesses, I hate big companies, and I want my money to go to people who need it more by far. This app feels targeted at me and people like me who get their kicks NOT from quirky social media presences, but from helping local pizzerias that need it more than Pizza Hut (which this app has empowered me to QUIT FOR GOOD). Each time I get a notification from Slice imploring me to support my local pizzerias, even if I don’t have the cash to do it right then, it warms my heart. My favorite notification I’ve ever gotten was one in which Slice challenged me to be an “Over-The-Top Tipper,” which... if I wasn’t in love with the app and the people who work on it already, ol’ cupid would have had a FIELD DAY with that notification. 😂 Since getting this app, I’ve been recommending it to any of my coworkers who like pizza, and I’d recommend it to whoever’s reading this while on the fence about using it! It really does work, those pizzerias you love are now so much more accessible, and it’s thanks to Slice!.Version: 4.13.0

Want delivery only choice is pickupI was trying to order. I picked what I wanted then tried to make it for delivery not an option. So I decided I would go and pick it up no an option. No reason given. Wrote to Cust support. To them the problem and support to me there not delivering. I called the local pizza place and asked if the are delivering? Yes we are so I placed my order by phone. Your own Cust support had no idea what was going on. There should be some sort of reason given. I thought the app was malfunctioning. Which it might have been because I was able to call and get my order delivered. Either way using the app was a complete waste of my time. This happened twice by the way. On 2 different occasions. I use to like the app but not not sure if I will use it again. I just don't want to waste my time again. Sincerely totally frustrated..Version: 3.29.0
