Clime: NOAA Weather Radar Live Positive Reviews

Very Good appI like this app. The layout is good and it is easy to find the information I am looking for, whether it be current conditions or weather forecasts. One aspect that bugs me, however, is when bringing up the radar map, it defaults to the beginning of the loop, which is sometimes 30 minutes old. I would prefer it to default to the “now” position - that is what I am most interested in when opening the app. Also, I found the temperature for my area to be off by about 6 degrees compared to my outside temperature gauge and my other weather apps. It is nice that I can submit a change, but I would prefer for it to be a little more accurate without having to tweak it. Additional Comments: At the suggestion of the author, I tried the advanced precipitation layer and I found that I liked it very much. It opens at the “now” point. Still would like to see the radar open at the now point too, though. One other feedback comment: With the icon indicating a chance for rain in the hourly summary, it is very hard to actually see the rain. The rain drops should be made to be more obvious. One should not have to look hard and squint to see if there is rain falling from the dark cloud or not..Version: 4.17.0

Used to be good, now its not. Before they got sooo pushy on their subscription, it used to be a very good weather app. First they took away rainscope and air quality and other stuff like that, I didn't really care at first. Next they took away really good features like the 1 hour interval, and to get it back, you have to pay their stupid subscription. Honestly, I was starting to get sick! And the subscription was just too much for a simple weather app that is supposed to keep you safe. But now, I guess the owner of this app is so interested in money that he is cutting important features and making people subscribe to their subscription. Honestly, sometimes its not even that accurate! One time it was supposed to rain and it said I was in the middle of it and it was just a simple dark cloudy sky and it wasn't even raining yet, and not until 46 minutes later of this forecast! I would rate this app 5 stars before they started getting pushy on their subscription! But now, I would rate it 0 stars. I just rated it five stars so it would show up on the comments section on the app store. If you don't want to basically pay for an app for very important features, then this app is not for you. I hope they better this app, because they just lost a user here..Version: 4.24.1

Clime checks all the boxesThere are so many weather apps and I've been through them all, it seems. I've had a few favorites but even the best have had one shortcoming or another. Then one day I saw an ad on TV for Clime, which I'd not heard of. I gave it try and after a few weeks now Clime has become my new favorite — and this time I don't see any shortcomings. Clime checks all the boxes for me. There's lots of data and detail, yet the layout is attractive and uncluttered. That's hard to do! But where Clime shines is in the radar. The graphics are both attractive and informative without being excessive or looking cheap. I can tell exactly what's happening near me and what's headed my way. I can tell if it's just rain, or rain with lightening. And if there's lightening I can tell exactly where. This is important so I know when to shutdown and unplug my computer equipment. I have just one silly issue with Clime. Too much is crammed into the name under the icon on the home screen. Looks bad. So I fixed it! I created an Apple Shortcut to open Clime, and named the shortcut simply "Clime". I even saved the Clime icon to my photos and applied it to the shortcut. Now Clime sits on my home screen looking exactly as it should! Any chance Clime will add a MacOS version?.Version: 4.25.1

Love This AppLove it b/c it let’s me look at the weather in other cities before I finalize my travel plans so I will know what the weather will be where I’m going and the outlook for several days which makes it easy to make decisions to still go or postpone due to possible bad weather forecasted. For example I was planning a trip to the Mountain here in Asheville, North Carolina and found that the weather was not going to be in my favor due to snow. First, I’m disabled and can’t take chances on being stuck somewhere I’m not able to get back home cause they shut down the highway when bad weather comes. Second, where I currently reside in North Carolina we get plenty of bad weather from snow, sleet, freezing rain and blizzard (due to nor Easters). I don’t take chances at home so why would I want to take chances somewhere else. I can’t take a risk of falling b/c of several medical issues that restrict my ability to get around (both knees been replaced and currently waiting on date for lower spine surgery) along with several other medical issues that restrict my ability to just go and take unnecessary chances. This app helps me make smart decisions that will best help me protect my health. Love it. It’s a 5 Star App. Highly Recommend you get it if you don’t already have it..Version: 3.20

Nice appExcellent app, the way it presents the data is hands down. I like the little 24 hrs precipitation forecast box that pops right on top of the current temperature on rainy days. I also like the map animations showing rain drops, snow, or mixed, this really helps figuring out what’s coming your way without having to use the map key. In addition to the Radar, there are a variety of maps, my favorite one is the precipitation forecast, it lets me see 26 hrs in advance when rain reaches us, how intense is and how long it lasts and the wind stream map. The daily conditions presented in graphs is one of my main requirements when I decide for a weather app, which is why I like it so much. Another great feature this weather app has that I’ve never seen in other apps of this kind, the main menu parameters switch according to weather severity, whether there are very high winds, or large amounts of rain, they’re shown first in the row of parameters. I only wish I was able to customize the parameters’ position in the main menu or just toggle them off; for example I personally don’t really care about pressure (never), air quality (never) and UV (care only during summer days) and they’re in the way. Great app!!.Version: 4.36.0

Same problem as most weather appsLayout good, radar is as excellent as advertised. The only issue this app suffers from is the same as many weather apps: when there is any chance of precipitation, as low as 3-4%, the app will authoritatively say “it will rain in X hours.” In fact, the app really tends to believe in its forecasts too much, to the point that it was insisting it was about to rain in 10 minutes and actually inventing a massive storm that was going to suddenly appear on the future radar. It was sunny out, and had been for most of the day. Whatever algorithm runs how the information is presented to the user needs more nuance. Most weather apps suffer from this issue, and while it is not a big deal (I just look at the expanded forecast for 30 secs), it does make checking the weather at a glance essentially impossible as I don’t know whether with confidence the “rain tomorrow” is an 80% chance or a 5%, it’s all just “rain” or “thunderstorm.” I’ll continue using the app, it’s great in every other aspect, it’s just a shame not even this app can escape these common issues..Version: 5.1.0

Changing forecast loop timeI use the paid pro version and am a northern California contractor. It rains a lot where I live. Knowing what is going to happen in the next 24 hours is important. I’ve been using the clime app with the primary layer being the advanced forecast percipitation layer. It runs in a 24 hour loop with a higher frame rate for the first two hours. Very well thought out and very accurate. Sometimes I’ll flip to the radar layer to look at the previous 30 minutes of activity to see how the app is handling the activity of incoming squalls. No complaints, the advanced layer colors add to the ease of finding where and when it will be wet. There’s also an adjustable opacity slider if you don’t like the default level. One little quirk, sometimes when I open the app the loop can be much longer than 24 hours, but only does so for one cycle. Can’t seem to find the adjustment for such a longer loop. Obviously it’s possible to have a longer loop (up to 50+ hours in some cases.) would be a cool feature to have a toggle increasing the loop time for advanced precipitation forecast..Version: 4.29.0

Better than the full website for fast informationI have used the ‘full’ NOAA website for three decades to track hurricanes and watch for local bad weather. I have not used the app for hurricanes, yet, but the local maps for the radar loop are problematic, even with internet service, on the iPhone. They are almost useless for accurate local data on tornadoes (still great for tracking larger storms and rapidly moving fronts) due to data limits, particularly heavy local cell system usage during tornadoes. This app trims links to the massive database at NOAA for the power of a shorter ‘history’ (4 passed tracks to 7 on the full website, or 35-40 minutes instead of 70 minutes), but the ‘loss’ of tracking information is minor and FAST current data is more useful during sudden weather and for driving. It was invaluable during a recent trip to New Orleans to time leave times and plan stops to avoid pop up thunderstorms. Nothing but good things found with app over NOAA main website and local news weather apps (lots of adds with the ‘locals’ and websites are problematic to find using iPhone when traveling)..Version: 3.40

FABULOUS FORECASTS & SPECTACULAR GRAPHICSThere’s really nothing to do with the weather that CLIME doesn’t cover nor any type of Weather Alerts & Forecasts that aren’t offered from Forest Fires to Tornadoes. When CLIME replaced the original weather app I was a little apprehensive but they’re really quite accurate and the Radar & Satellite imagery is spectacular. However, I believe I like the ability to pin the map with any location/locations you wish to monitor & receive Forecasts and Alerts for Weather and/or other hazardous conditions the best. The previous version of the app wasn’t as user friendly & had a few bugs with some downtime, not a significant amount but CLIME so far has surpassed the prior version in these areas as well. They’ve also added new features such as tracking the number of Lightning Strikes and adding lightening bolts to the map graphics so you can follow along other events such as Forest Fires & Avalanche Conditions obviously not all geographical locations will need all of the Alerts offered but it’s nice to know they’re available..Version: 4.34.0

Great App…Needs Customizable NotificationsAirline Tower Manager here. Bottom line: I love the app. I even upgraded to the pro version. My wish is that there were options to choose which notifications I receive and which I don’t. As it stands right now, the only choice I have is to either receive all notifications or none of them. I’m receiving so many Clime notifications that I’m desensitized to them. Critical notifications are lost in a sea of non-critical information. I’d like to be able to customize this so that when I receive a Clime notification, I know that it’s something important based on settings specific to my operational needs. We do have an airline-specific app contracted through one of the major meteorological organizations, but the Clime app is easier to access and navigate quickly. So again, great app…please let me customize my notifications..Version: 4.15.1

Erm... What? The developers should be happy I even rate this app 3 stars. First of all, the UI is laggier than the Weather Channel app's! I thought I knew true radar lag. You can't view past radar, which you can easily do for free with many other weather services. Second of all, the notifications are.. clickbait? There was an air quality alert for my area last night, nothing major, right? .. Right???? Well the notification displayed with the name "Air Stagnation Warning," with a red mask icon next to it. That could easily cause panic. I check the AQI, and the PM2.5 is just a little bit higher than normal. Does that really warrant a notification like that? Also, that isn't even the definition of air stagnation? Can you atleast do some research before attempting to scam and trick people.. 🤦‍♀️ I mean, the UI functions, and the forecasts are atleast somewhat accurate, so I guess it earns 3 stars. Wouldn't recommend, but you can use it, I'd give it that. Don't waste your time nor money on this app; you can use other, better apps like the weather channel and accuweather, yahoo weather, etc, with more features for free..Version: 5.0.4

James CappsExcellent weather forecast for the local area, however I don't believe it should be named Clime as the word "Clime " would indicate to the average individual that this report is about climate change. Although in the past it was established that local weather is not the overall climate. That was stated by the individuals advocating the idea that global climate change is due to man-made carbon emissions. At the time that this idea was being cast about by Al Gore, allowing him to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I was living in Silicon Valley being stationed there with the Air Force. While the climate is changing and could possibly be caused by man-made carbon, no one can positively prove that is actually true, yet the public has now been lead to believe that there will be a near extinction event of humans if we don't spend trillions of US dollars to correct the alleged problem. Unfortunately, whiles mankind seems to believe that we have a good grasp of the science regarding. the issues regarding clim change, that is sheer nonsense ..Version: 4.27.0

Awesome!!!!Let me start out by saying this weather app is awesomely GREAT! I live in Florida where the weather can be crazy unpredictable… i work outside on a golf course where weather patterns are important…this app does it all and is accurate!!! I just recently came across this app and I’m so glad I downloaded it to try it to compare it to the app I recently was using(my radar) and prior to that I was using weather bug… I def already like this app better than both of those and I’ve only had it a little over a week now! I love the whole interface of the whole app… the widget is even cool!!! it’s easy to use and to get the hang of with finding everything…. The radar is nice smooth and cool …full of cool features and little added stuff like rain falling where applicable on the radar… the whole app is just great, cool and easy to use! So happy I came across this app and it has taken over and become my number one and ONLY weather app!.Version: 4.19.1

Very satisfied with this app!Clime really seems to have everything. There are very few, if any, questions about the weather that I can’t get answered by clime. They have everything you would want from a radar and more. I’m never caught off guard by the weather, and I live in Oklahoma (IYKYK). Not only are the features amazing, but I recently had a glitch in the app, and Raslin on the support team was able to troubleshoot with me and solve my problem very quickly. I was expecting slow replies because of the weekend, but they got back to me so quickly & everything is smooth sailing now! I definitely recommend this app. Another favorite thing of mine is how they are constantly adding more features to the app to satisfy whatever you might need to know from the app. My only complaint would be that I think premium can be a bit pricey, but if you use their app enough I think they are always offering deals..Version: 4.24.1

UPDATED Paid for 2 yearsI received a discount rate to stay with the app, which looks like is the new normal cost of the subscription. Every time I try to contact support I need to use the IOS Mail app and strictly that app to get your email. Even on your website. Why is it when I storm is happening the radar only a shows the past 40 minutes and will no longer show the future prediction? I have changed maps and settings and I don’t understand why this timeframe is the only option for me? I really enjoyed finding this app a couple years ago. The features are great and the radar was accurate. More accurate than than the hourly/daily weather reports. I have unfortunately stopped my subscription as other weather apps are more accurate. As of late I got a notification telling me “tomorrow” would be the warmest day in the past 3 days. However the current day was warmer than what “tomorrow” showed. I truly love the features of this app but I want accurate weather in regards to temperatures..Version: 4.33.1

I have had this app for three years now.I got this app because I thought just like the scanner I wouldn’t need anything else. I pay for the subscription and barely use this app. One reason being is because their is no iOS widget support. Yea their is a widget but it never works. Pay for a subscription just to have part of it flawed. Second reason is more of a effort could be made to provide information for local roads and highway’s. Local school closers and day care centers sports could all be made available for the price we pay not not some real time radar that we can get with any weather app. Third I am paying for something that doesn’t play along with my Truck, and agin the widget being always broken is lousy I also don’t think it’s half as reliable as the free scanner version I grew up appreciating..Version: 4.20.0

Really like but needs 1 improvement. This app works well. To bad most people can’t read well enough to see that the trial and pricing issue are ‘user’ based and have nothing to do with bad or misleading practices, sheesh, slow down and read, actually read. My one suggested change is to go with a different map service. I like Mapbox myself. I want more detail when I zoom out and Mapbox provides this. If I compare this app to the map service in my current weather app Storm from TWC, they use Mapbox, much greater detail when zoomed out on the same regions. Other than this issue, which hopefully you’ll consider, I’m looking forward to making this my full time weather app! Plus, the yearly fee of $9.99 which can be chosen during the trial, feels great. Reading AND understanding will carry you far ;).Version: 3.25

I’m a long time subscriber and this is the best out there.I grew very tired of how trashy and ad-filled the big weather sites had become years ago. I bought the original version of this because the radar was direct and to the point. This recent upgrade is outstanding, and I appreciate that the developer didn’t leave me high and dry like a certain big-name app did when they went to a subscription model. If you rely on a good weather app for the things you do, this is a very solid entry…for me it is the go-to. Yes, I’m a subscriber and I don’t know how the unpaid version is, but I’m also a software developer and guess what? These guys deserve to get paid. It is really hard to put out a good app. I sure hope it stays this way :).Version: 4.29.0

Very detailedI’m pretty happy with this app in general. It provides plenty of good data. The map features load quickly and are easy to use. I appreciate the clean layout and vibrant use of colors in all of the right places. It even offers a really nice widget with only relevant information. I will certainly recommend it. The reason for a lost star is that iOS alerted me the app used my location 67 times in three days. I certainly like the app being up to date but that’s a bit much. I wish they could tone it down a bit more or offer an option to run light gps. For that reason I opted to turn off the gps unless using and it doesn’t keep the weather up to date. Compromise I suppose?.Version: 4.35.0

AWESOME!!Wow!! What great graphics and info!! I already feel safer. We’ve endured 2 major floods, here in Robeson County NC, just in the past 5 years. Here in rural America, the weather is a major factor in what goes on , what gets accomplished on a day to day basis. Thanks people for a job well done! PS. We Natives Never worshipped the sun(son), the created,...We worship the Father YAH, the Creator. But, when colonialism took place, another belief was instituted, instilled,,FORCED upon the Natives. Our spiritual roots go all the way back to the Old Hebrewic way referred to in the Old Testament. For some reference; ‘The History of the American Indians’ James Adair, first published in 1775. On the other hand, see Alexander Hislop’s ‘The Two Babylons’ for some very interesting details of how the practices in Catholicism and Christianity are traced all the way back to Ancient Babylon..Version: 4.0.2

Just what I was looking forUpdate: Another option I’d like to have is the ability to turn on alerts but turn on/off alert overlays on the map. This app presents all the information I’m looking for in a simple layout. With other apps radar is secondary, this app makes it primary but very easy to then get detailed weather info. Here are two improvements I’d recommend. Add selectable zoom levels for the radar at launch. The current setting is too focused and I have to zoom out to see the bigger picture. Maybe 50, 100, 300 miles out from location. Second I’d like the sunrise/sunset to be “smart”. After sunset display the sunrise time. After sunrise display the sunset time. No need for separate icons. Thanks for a great weather app!.Version: 3.27

This app has become a big mess. So, apparently this app now has a subscription you can subscribe to when they have an already one time pay premium app. Why? Why would you do this? Are you getting rid of the premium app? If so, why? There was nothing wrong with that app. This just makes the whole NOAA Weather Radar apps a whole mess. Also, this app claims to be the only app to show all NWS service alerts and warnings on the radar. I'm pretty sure MyRadar, Storm, and many other apps show alerts like this, and show more alerts than what this app shows. I was really debating weather to shell out and buy the premium app, but these reasons make me not want to. Updates come in every 3-6 months and the developers apparently don't really care about the consumer. You guys really have made a bad first impression with me. This app doesn't deserve the stars it already has..Version: 3.18

Map issue with latest updateI have one issue with the latest update. I rather like the ability to switch between modes using the new toolbar at the bottom of the screen. However when I select the Map button to view the full screen radar, the bubble with the current temp that appears on the map for my currently selected location covers a good portion of the radar right around the area that I want to view! In Map mode I want to view as much of the radar map AS POSSIBLE, not have a good portion of the map hidden by a temperature bubble!! I haven’t found a way to hide the temp bubbles. The only solution I’ve found is to map another spot on the map my “current” location and then pan over to the area that I’m truly interested in. Major fail!!.Version: 5.0.3

New (and Subscription-Based) Not BetterIn fact, the predictive radar is worse in every way since the rebranding to “Clime.” I hesitantly paid for “Pro” when almost every other weather app stopped offering predictive radar. Even Clime’s real-time radar is less accurate than others (who presumably also use NOAA data?). We live in Hawai’i where weather changes are frequent if rains are brief. We can often literally see and feel the shifts. But Clime does not. Nor does its longer-term precip predictions offer anything like modeling that is useful. The graphics are “pretty” but confusing and the lack of other weather data makes the app harder/slower to use on the fly, and less “valuable” than the free versions of several competitors, including local web pages..Version: 4.36.0

Très informatif et justeÀ recommander à tous.Version: 3.18

MétéoTrès bien ,mais rédigé en français serait apprécié!.Version: 3.18
