More features pleaseTitle may be misleading, but I feel like if two new features were added, it would do so much for this app - 1. Widgets 2. Shortcuts support. Honestly, Shortcuts support alone would do a lot for this app. There are lots of other life-tracker kinds of apps and some I use to track certain activities or events, but most try to guide the user too much and aren’t as customizable as Reporter. That being said, if I could create Shortcuts that integrate with Reporter (to create reports for me) by automatically pulling data from other apps into the reports that I log, or if I could integrate Reporter-focused Shortcuts into my Wind Down routine, that would be HUGE!!! Please consider adding Shortcuts actions for this app.Version: 1.6.10

Almost greatI love this app. I’ve been using it consistently since 2014 so I have some great data and can see some interesting trends in my life. I would say this is a great app but I feel it’s potential isn’t fully realized. With light sensors on the phone I feel this is a metric I could track like I do sound and altitude. I would love the ability to better visualize the data. I can cut it by time but cannot see one year compared to the next so easily. Really good at what it does but needs a bit more to be truly great..Version: 1.6.10

Needs shortcutsI Love how personalized you can make this app for logging whatever in life you need to like symptoms, productivity, habits, etc. But I cannot figure out a way to edit my questions without having the app delete or not use my old data in the proportions, graphs, etc. If a way to choose whether or not old data is deleted were added when you’re editing questions, it would be a lot easier to use!.Version: 1.6.10

Your experience is only as good as your promptsI’ve been coming back to this simple, beautiful app for 6+ years because it helps me stay self aware. I love that I can fine tune the prompts but I wish there were more visualization and filtering options. An easier way to download and share my content from the Reporter app would be great too..Version: 1.6.10

Neat app with potentialTl;dr The app is great at showing and collecting info for long term analysis, wish it could do the same for short term. ———————— I love that this app simplifies life tracking. It does a wonderful job of allowing you to feel like you have the power over what gets tracked and what you do with that data. I feel like it’s potential still isn’t fully achieved though. Right now, it kind of feels like an app I’m going to have to just use for a year and only then see any interesting trends. That’s going to be super great, but could become so much more useful if I could separate visualizations weekly or even see succinct questions in a list daily. OR if it let me automate my data through the Shortcuts app..Version: 1.6.9

I want to remember.I find this app successful in capturing everything I tell it. I believe dedication to creating your own record is really a matter of your own motivation. I'm motivated. I'm able to change and add questions. It has a sensor that knows more about my movement than I do. It reminds me of what I want to think about each day. It can be ignored if I'm busy. I'm doing this thing. I like it..Version: 1.6.4

Key feature is missingIt's really great app with incredible potential, but there's missing something very important - visualizing progress. Tracking is just half of success with optimizing our life, second half is visualizing data over time to see is there any progress, data alone isn't enough. I hope you can do something with this..Version: 1.6.4

Very useful but missing something crucialThis data needs to be searchable for cross reference. When I’m feeling good, I’d like to be able to find in the all what I was doing and where. Same with feeling bad. The data is already there, it just needs to be searchable. Then it could be useful for identifying positive and negative influences in your life..Version: 1.6.9

Awesome conceptAwesome app, full of potentials. I like to set the survey at 30 min intervals to not only record my process, but also give me an reminder to reflect. I am surprised there are only 30+ reviews. Hope more people can discover this app. For those who are familiar with statistics, this app also exports csv files allowing you to do regression analysis for insight (aka fun).Version: 1.6.10

Wish it was still in developmentIt would be nice to see iOS 12 features included, like screen time, as well as other integrations with app accounts (social media activity, etc.), or an Apple Watch app with richer notifications..Version: 1.6.10

Hoping for changes.I like a lot of what this offers.... However I personally think the sleep / awake paradigm is only getting in my way and wish I could disable it. Just give me X number of random or timed questions + a few specifically timed check-ins and I'd be great. Second, the color choices and font size / contrast ratios really are rough on me. I appreciate the bold design but wish it was a bit easier on the eyes..Version: 1.6.8

Wow! Exactly what I was looking for!I decided to try and keep track of various metrics over the course of my 2017 and was overjoyed to find that someone else had come up with exactly the same idea. Fantastic execution! I can't wait too see it all come together throughout the course of the year..Version: 1.6.4

AutoDataminingGives me everything I need to record my activities so I can do data mining on myself. Interface is really easy to use and you can customize the questions and the times that They are asked. Everything I wanted!.Version: 1.6.4

Timed questions? Nice but improvableThis is a great app, I wish you could set up a time for some of the questions or at least set some questions to be asked only once per day (you can do it by putting them in the sleep category now).Version: 1.6.4

Please fix long text! It empties out and you can't see the field.Awesome app, but one nasty bug for long text field!.Version: 1.6.4

The best way to log data on iphoneI’ve been tracking various facets of my life on this app for a while now. It’s incredible powerful while remaining simple..Version: 1.6.10

No sleep timerCompletely mystified why you cannot set a sleep mode timer. Apparently, if you forget to check in at bedtime it will continue with random alarms during the night. It offers an awake timer..Version: 1.6.4

Great app, crashes with last updateUsing iPhone 6, crashes while trying to open. Started when the app was updated 2 days ago..Version: 1.6.5

No support for iPhone X?Been using this and hope to see iPhone X support real soon! Thanks!.Version: 1.6.5

Good App But Needs UpdatingThis is a fun app but no longer records weather updates from Dark Sky..Version: 1.6.10

Great, but could be improvedI love this app, I think it's such a cool way for you to track and record any parts of your life you want to, such a good idea. I can't wait to gather more data and see what results I get over time. However, I wish I could make more than 1 survey and name each one or put each one in a category or folder or something. So like if I just wanted to make a survey that's only about my sleeping habits, and another that only has questions on a survey that have to do with keeping track of what I eat, and so on and so forth.... I want to make different surveys with different questions on each one, rather than what it is currently - which is that you can only create 1 survey and you have to include any question you ask on there. My survey has become a question overload, way too many questions just on 1 survey...so, I just want to create multiple surveys to break down the data/questions - simplify it a bit more. Also, I wish I could send my survey to myself as a link that I can take online, anywhere. For example, I want to email it to myself, to not just take the survey on my phone, but on my computer too. And yes, like other suggestions said - better visualization of data would be much more helpful. I love to see what progress or decline actually looks like, visually. Also, can you export these as a PDF too??? Or other file types? Might be another useful feature too. I really do hope you implement some of my suggestions. I think it'd make your app so much better. I love the idea of it..Version: 1.6.4

Excellent startI recognize the hard work that must have gone into this, so I don't want to undermine what an amazing tool this is. It's a very easy to use and (and nice looking) interface for collecting personal data. Furthermore you have the freedom of access to all your raw data points. The reason this is 4 stars is possibly my confusion, but I think the app suggests data analysis (see: graphs) along with the collection of data. It does a great job collecting but a weak job at dataviz. Some data points aren't even presented (ambient volume), explained (number of photos you took), or made meaningful. When I say meaningful I mean the correlation of this data. What does it matter how I slept, the cups of coffee I had, or my mood and the people I am with if I can't make comparisons? I hope to see more flexibility with the dataviz outputs in future versions. Currently it seems this is only for collecting info, and up to the user to process/analyze the data as they see fit. The app is an excellent "researcher" but the "reporter" aspect seems to very nacent..Version: 1.0.6

Extraordinarily well executed personal data appComing from a background in behavioral psychology, I've been waiting for an app like this for a long time. I'm impressed with the flexibility and power offered here and it's actually started to improve my behavior by revealing long term habits. As a simple example, I have Reporter set to ask me if I exercised and practiced piano today before I sleep. Long term, it looks like I exercise 66% of days and only practice piano 20% of days! Unacceptable! Getting these numbers up is a motivation I feel every time I think about skipping out. Other things I do include have it poll me with my energy level and mood throughout the day. I'm very interested to learn how these metrics are correlated with sleep, noise level, and whom I'm with. As for features, I would love to have the app give me reflex or basic math tests to measure my mental acuity throughout the day (happy to support via in app purchase, BTW). Of course, more advanced visual treatments of the data would be awesome as well. Keep it up, Nick and co! The world needs this..Version: 1.0.7

Life journaling done rightReporter is the best solution for Quantified Self life journaling I've tried, in fact it's probably one of the cleanest and best-looking apps I've seen. Reporter defines a random-sampling journaling workflow that is both flexible and well-thought out. It may not be perfect for everyone's needs but it certainly is consistent and easy to use. Personally, I find the report schedule a little constraining. It's great for making sure you track data regularly, but not for adding intermittent single data points rather than a full report. I'm guessing that might be the reason why values from the previous report is kept as defaults when you manually submit a new one. UI flaws: Can't edit tokens, can't move tokens between questions, can't change times on reports or create post-dated posts (would be useful to create posts for past events, reporting while being social seems rude.) Things I'd hope to see: Quantity tracking (a la Daytum), single data point entry, an online support forum, option to link to RescueTime and other (stable) automatic tracking tools..Version: 1.1.2

Regular People Be WarnedI'm no data scientist or stats geek. I was more just looking for some way to reveal some interesting insights into my habits and behaviors. What I found was that this app is NOT suitable for this purpose as it pertains to regular people. For those deeply invested in personal data, this is a great tracking tool that will reveal a lot of neat points. For me, and probably anyone like me, I'm not creative enough to ask the right questions of myself so the lack of questions built into the app is really a drawback. On top, it's very interruptive of the daily flow. The alerts to report are abrupt, and while I do understand the diligence it takes to compile significant data sets, I don't condone an app that forces my iPhone into life at inopportune moments. This applies to sleep tracking--I won't remember to flip the switch to "asleep" when I'm tired and passing out! Many changes need to be made to accommodate commoners before this is mass-consumable. 3 of 5 stars, for quality of interface for data geeks and lack of guidance for the layman..Version: 1.0.5

Rigid despite customization optionsI don't use Reporter to check in on me at random times of the day. Just want to be able to write a report with a variety of questions each night at bedtime about the day. The ability to program custom questions is fantastic. The fact that I have to tell the app that I've gone to bed and woken up each time I go to write a fresh report is annoying and results in 2 reports each day, one of which is empty. Further, cleaning up data is a pain. If I spell something wrong, like a friend's name, the app memorizes it and I'm forever stuck with bad data and suggestions. If I am in SF one day but want to go back and write a report for yesterday when I was in NYC and I write-in NYC, it permanently believes that SF is called NYC. And while you can export data, you can't take it out, clean it up, and reimport it. Also, it's buggy. For something designed to give so much control, it is missing some basics..Version: 1.1.2

Great for self-quantifying data loversThis app is great! Very easy to create questions and filling out a survey is quick and painless. The friction of data collection is nearly zero, and the possibilities are endless for what you can track. Two things: this app doesn't analyze your data other than simple visualizations. You have to come to your own conclusions. As a data geek, I like this; I'd rather work with my data myself. Second, the beauty of this app is the random alerts to report. This is a long-run game, not a "catch everything" type of data tracking. For certain things, like number of coffees in a day, you don't need random sampling. But it's very difficult to collect useful data on many subjective things, like energy levels or happiness, if you rely on sampling regular intervals. In the short term your data "picture" might be a little spotty; in the long term it should better reflect reality. Feature wishes: It would be great to have a customized alert sound so the report alerts stand out. Also, reordering of questions is an important missing feature that would help reduce reporting friction..Version: 1.0.5

Really great. Just what I wanted. After seeing a Feltron report years ago I wanted just such an app, with different question types and the ability to tokenize responses. This is a beautiful execution of that idea. No bugs for me so far. Probably the main feature I would like to see is the ability to edit time tags to be able to create reports in the past - this would be especially useful to me because I don't always have access to my phone. Love that data is all kept on the device. Export worked well for me. Visualizations are a bit constrained and leave something to be desired but hey - make your own with the data :) Felton doesn't use the app to make his!.Version: 1.1.2

I've been waiting for this app.I've been looking for an app like this for a few years now - one that will let me track what I want and then output that data. I love that I can add my own questions but there are a few prefab ones to he started with. I haven't taken a look at the export yet - but I'm hoping I'll be able to draw my own insights with a little Excel voodoo. Like another reviewer said, I'd love it if I could order my own "Feltron report" at the end of the year or something. That'd be pretty cool. Also, like another reviewer said - it would be nice to edit responses in case of typos etc. All in all, enjoying this app and interested to see what updates (if any) may bring..Version: 1.2.3

*Please* make compatible with IFTTTI've only had this app less than a week, and I *love* it. Everything about it. There is at least one important thing that is missing, though—compatibility with If This Then That, the app that allows users to create or use ready-made logical "recipes" to make the action of one app automatically result in an indirectly related action by another app. As an owner of a Jawbone Up 24 wristband (the app for which is IFTTT ready, allowing users to, say, cause a room full of app-controlled smart light-bulbs to turn on when they enter a room) I see the marriage of the Up 24 and Reporter as an absolute *must* that can't happen soon enough!.Version: 1.0.5

Great customization and slick UIThis app is really well done. The user interface is beautiful and I have yet to encounter a single bug or hangup. The app allows you to customize when you report and what questions you're asked. It then builds an awesome in app report on the results and you can export the data if you desire to further customize your reporting. Only potential disadvantage you should be aware of is that it doesn't allow you to report in the past, you can only create current reports that will be documented with your current location and current time. Keep up the great work Feltron!.Version: 1.1.2

Idea is fantastic, but I think the implementation needs workBeautiful idea, as we're notoriously bad at compiling data about ourselves over a distribution of moods and contexts. I think there could be some small scale changes to really push this: rating scales w/ or w/o anchors, slider responses (to get at the nuances of things), bivariate visualizations, the ability to fit more characters into a question (cutting off at a few words), and integration with Fitbit (the new health sensor world). All-in-all, I'm going to work with it as is because it is such an awesome idea (and calming design), but I think some small-scale implementations would push me to the 5-star zone..Version: 1.4.0

A good startThe app has certain qualities that I found to be enjoyable, such as the low time investment with taking surveys, minimal intrusiveness of survey prompts, and the overall ease of use. However, the main problem I have with the app is that it doesn't really tell me anything useful. It just returns the same information that I put in and counts how many times I entered that particular piece of information. If you want to count how many times you do something over a period of time, then this app will be excellent for you. If you want the app to make connections between pieces of data that you enter, then you're definitely not going to find this app to be as useful..Version: 1.1.2

Nice BeginningThis app has ready helped me to see trends in my life. With the customizable questions and report reminders, I've been able to get information I'd otherwise look past. That said, a suggestion I have is to configure a more customizable reminder component, so as to allow for more precise scheduling of report reminders. Also, I'd like to see a section devoted to ideas for questions. I think I could make Reporter even more informative if I could come up with more questions, to fill out my day--questions for waking and before bed, especially..Version: 1.0.6

Nice app to haveThose who don't write diary everyday like me would find this app quite useful. The user interface is very well thought out to provide great user experience. However, I have several complaints about the design of the app. First, I want some more customization. I wish to be able to decide which questions to be asked more easily. Why not ask me all the questions on the list and let me skip the ones I don't want? Second, I thought it would be nice if the app supported its own alert sound. Other than those I'm satisfied with the app :).Version: 1.1.2

Great concept, Tons of potentialOverall this app is great. Simple, easy to input short bits of data and a lot of potential to do something with it later. I've customized it with my own questions about what I care about. I've noticed too major things so far. One, some of the automatically generated data points like step count are way off and random and I have no sense of how it's generated. Second, while I think I could certainly do something with the data later, true value from visualizations and finding patterns isn't currently considered at all in the app or an output of it. That's a definite opportunity. Great foundation though but needs follow through..Version: 1.0.6

Good interface, shallow designFirst I have to say that I really like the design of this apps. The design is gorgeous, and the interface is well thought out. The one bug I encountered was in trying to export my data, I did not have an email account linked to my device and the app simply did nothing(no error message, etc). I would like to see more done with the data though, because in its current state I would not use it often. If the stats from reports were related to each other, I would find this app useful. As it stands now, I do not need an application to keep track of "What are you doing?" each day and things like that..Version: 1.1.2

InterestingI'm assuming data visualization will be coming later. Still, even without it, this app is really neat just because it makes you look at your life subjectively every now and then. A few notes for improvement: -The list of previous choices is too small and hard to tap on the desired option correctly. I often mean to pick the top option, but the app assumes I'm trying to type a new value. -the auto reminders feel a bit skewed for the evening. I usually work 10 hours a day, yet I almost never get pinged while at the office, so the data shows I'm almost never working, which isn't very useful. As it's inaccurate. I don't know what algorithm the notifications are working from, but I'd rather they come in spaced evenly throughout the day, and not just after I get home from work. Anyway, I do like the app and have recommended it to friends. Hoping for some nice updates later. Thanks!.Version: 1.0.6

Functionally fabulous, but feature liteFunctionally, this app is wonderfully easy to use and has a lot of helpful tidbits that make recording data easy. I would love to see more features though. Especially additional data visualization and crunching options. I would like to see recording sessions randomize which questions they ask so I can add many more data points without lengthening my reporting time. I would also like to see some better functionality at the lock screen, especially for yes/no questions..Version: 1.0.7

Are There in Fact Reports? Output? It seems like a cool idea and I agree with the developer’s characterization that the input is both easy and readily adaptable. However, there seems to be no output. I’ve been putting in data for two weeks to the tune of 43 “reports” but I can find no trending data, charts, suggestions, etc. In other words it just seems like a place to store raw data. I read the FAQ and it says “trends will emerge” but nothing about how, when or the manner in which they will be displayed. It could well be user error on my part but I don’t get it. So far it is a fair amount of work with no benefit..Version: 1.2.4

It has potencialAltough I guess the app has a strong niche, "the data nerds", this same niche has demands that the app doesnt fulfill. It's a lovely app, well crafted and design, and in 3 days of use it wasnt near to crash. But some key features are missing. First more rebust data visualization, we need the power to compare data x with data y. And see how x influence y. Other feature that i found missing, it's linking question. For example, the question "do you exercise today?" If i anwser no, nothing happens, but in yes, promp me another question, for examples "how many miles?". This can be easly solve, with an input method, if user anwser this, he can write some note. I guess the developer giving the ability to export the data, have the hope that community around his app create tools to fulfill the missing features. I can see me using this app on a daily basis, and i guess i can see in a future a scene around this. But first "reporter" needs to reach the more basics demands of the user..Version: 1.0.6

A startI jumped when I read about this but haven’t been able to put it to use. I’d like more options. For example there are some things I would like asked once a day and with that in mind I would like to specify when my day starts and ends so that Reporter knows when to reset itself. How about questions that are asked just once a week? Or a specific day of the week. What’s your weight? Or what’s your bank balance? Come to mind. It would be great to see this App or other apps leveraging this information into useful graphs and feedback. I’ve stopped using it but will be back..Version: 1.0.6

Good but needs one thing. It would be great if I could restrict reviews to a specific time. I'm no awake at 3:00am so why alert me then?.Version: 1.2.4

Love this app. Please give it some love.Version: 1.6.10

Too simpleI like the concept, but there needs to be more to it. Maybe add a feature to record mood, dreams, physical activities, things like that. Also maybe display the changes on a graph of sorts, so users can see their different answers throughout the day/week/month/year..Version: 1.6.10

Needs more complexityI've been using this for just over a week now. It's interesting but right now the data is offered up in too simple a manner. It would be great to link different data together to form a more complex picture. For example am I feeling happy when I'm working? What about when I'm with a certain person? Those kinds of linkages would make for a more illuminating experience..Version: 1.0.7

Lovely appWish the tap targets were a little bigger. Also, if my question is longer that the full question appears on screen. Once these issues are fixed its a near perfect app. Thanks again..Version: 1.3.1

ReporterBeautifully designed app! Awesome concept, cant find any other apps that address the need for personal mobile data collection. Functionality is not very intuitive/ easy to use/understand. I think increased tutorial/ how to material could definitely improve usability and user experience. I know so many people that could make great use of this app but would be deterred by not understanding how to use it..Version: 1.1.2

Cool app, crashes a lotVery nice design, very flexible, but crashes while I'm reporting which is insanely annoying..Version: 1.2.3

Fantastic tool, but the .1 update is a little buggyLoving all the additions to Reporter with this new update, but I'm finding it's buggier than it used to be. I might have to set the app to Asleep twice to get it to properly register, for example. As well, when I wake up, sliding the notification to unlock my phone doesn't properly register the report. I have to punch it in twice. The minor inconveniences have a negative impact on the experience, and if I didn't trust the developer and wasn't aware of his portfolio, my faith in the app would be damaged. I'd recommend the app with these caveats, and am really looking forward to the updates. Version .1 is a much-needed feature release that otherwise makes the app much better..Version: 1.1.0

Great app but...The app is amazing. i use it everyday. only problem is all the bugs in the new version. very laggy. please fix! i love this app.Version: 1.1.0

Good, with the potential to be greatSo far, I love what this app could be more than I love the app—I want more. More ways to visualize and compare data within the app, especially. But I have a feeling I might use this for the rest of my life?!.Version: 1.0.7

Great AppOpens your eyes to aspects of life you might not think about often. Simple easy interface. Interested to see where the app will go over different iterations..Version: 1.0.7

Great executionThis is the quantified self app I've been waiting for. Equally good for: setting goals in the morning, quick data logging throughout the day, and targeted journaling at night..Version: 1.0.7

Very good, lots of potentialThis app is nice and fast and responsive, which I think is a must for any kind of app you want to quickly enter data in. Nice lightweight interface too. Very interested to see where this goes in the future. Get a better icon though!.Version: 1.0.6

Nifty app!Had to delete and reinstall however because tapping on the report button caused the app to crash. No issues now, but I wish there was a way to import from Dropbox instead of starting from scratch..Version: 1.0.6

Good so farThe question "How did you sleep?" isn't displaying the multi-choices.Version: 1.0.5

Good appI always forget to put it in sleep mode I think an alert to do that would be good..Version: 1.0.6

Highly recommendWhat friends do you hang out with the most, just how great is your sex life? How often are you exercising? how much time do you spend watching TV, playing video games and surfing the Internet? Are you taking your supplements? All your answers can be found by using this app..Version: 1.0.6

Great idea with lots of room to growI love the idea of collecting personal data through a few timed surveys. Easy to use. But right now it's just a shade of what the app could be. You should be able to generate reports cross-referencing the data with if-than radio buttons. What if I want to know if I drink coffee at different times at work when I skip lunch? Or if playing video games too late in the day affects my sleep? Or if I work more efficiently when I am exercising regularly? You could get all these results with a more dynamic report generator. Right now it just gives you information without it being very useful. Also please include a "time" option in the survey editing menu that the app recognizes, so we can have questions like "when did you last drink coffee" or whatever..Version: 1.0.6

The app I would have written myselfCollecting data to problem solve and make better decisions is difficult. Reporter manages to integrate it all into a convenient and unobtrusive app, and most importantly, my data remains mine and mine alone. If I had been able to, and if I had been clever enough, this is the app I would have written for myself. Extremely well-executed. Inexpensive. Useful. Convenient. Doesn't get much better than this!.Version: 1.0.5

Pretty cool, needs touch up....I like this app it's pretty neat. It's a tad repetitive with the questions. I think there should be more complexity with the questions. For example: I added a question, 'Are you learning?' If I say 'Yes', I'd like it to ask me a secondary question 'What are you learning?' Thank you :).Version: 1.0.7

This is what data logging should be like!I'm a paying customer of Daytum and was really excited to see what Reporter would be like. To be honest this app is brilliant. The interaction of asking questions and gathering reports several time a day is exactly what I want in a data logging app. It's great to see apps taking initiative instead of waiting to be interacted with..Version: 1.0.5

Great for trackingIt will be great to see what I've accomplished in the future, and big ups for storing locally versus on a server somewhere! Super quick to use so I'm not wasting time..Version: 1.0.5
