Great news app but one annoyance I’ve been using this app for my news for a long time. Highly recommend it. But there is one problem that I want them to fix. When the adverts play (even though they are mute) it stops any music playing in another application. So I can’t read articles while enjoying my music. Please fix this. Would be five stars otherwise.. Were would we be without BBC? I can't imagine going through a week without checking BBC to see what's going on in the world, not to mention the pleasure I have in being entertained and educated by the unbelieveable quality of BBC's television productions. In these times where so many people are ignorant about our future and knowing very little about what's going on in real life, spending their time whatching dumb comersial TV or playing stupid computer games that seems to make us believe that the only way out of our misery is to gun us out. Useless format I used to be able to choose what topics I was interested in and go straight to them (My News) but that’s gone and instead I have to go through lots of topics to find what I’m interested in and even then there doesn’t seem to be many articles in each topic. A new downgraded look for BBC News The newest version of the app is terrible. “My news” have disappeared, leaving me to scroll and scroll to find the areas of news that concern me. Horribel Update My news is gone - terrible! …. And on My iPad I now have to scroll through loads of lagre pictures to get where I want, and when I get there, the text font is ridiculosly small. Great content, poor audio app The very best content but such a disappointing replacement for BBC Sounds. Cannot easily follow certain podcasts and play the latest from a playlist. Such a basic feature, feels like stepping back 10 years as BBC Sounds is taken away. I couldn’t even find The Archers among the podcasts. Missing AirPlay/Bluetooth button In the BBC Sounds app I can connect to speakers using Apple Airplay by pressing a button on the playback screen. This is missing from the app I’m now being forced to use as an overseas listener. Update July2025: once again we are forced to use this rubbish app to hear BBC radio overseas. There is no option to listen back to programs outside broadcast times (essential if you have a big time difference), and also the podcast section doesn’t have a searching function! Terrible app! Why does the app not have a search field in the podcast section?! I’m looking for several of the podcasts I used to be able to find in the BBC Sounds app, but they are not there, and there is no search field. Only search field is for the news page. Longtime listener How disappointing! The audio on the BBC app is very limited. Yes, many radio shows are available, but compared to the breadth and depth on the BBC Sounds app, this app is a poodle compared to an ocean. And I can’t even search for shows! The search seems to be restricted to news articles only! I haven’t been on the BBC app long enough to become annoyed by the ads, but I’m fairly certain that day is imminent..
