Impossible to spot disinformation without dislike button Youtube removed the dislike button, and now it’s just too much work to find videos worth watching. A video with 3000 likes might also have 300.000 dislikes because it was filled with disinformation about all sorts of things. How am I to larn how to do exercises right when people who do them wrong have nothing but likes? How is a kid supposed to use the internet to learn if lies have the same legitimacy as facts? Right now, creationism and flat earh videos are equal to evolution and astronomy videos. Nothing but likes and agreeing comments. In fact, science youtubers don’t even purge disinformation in the comments…. So actual science videos now look WORSE than disinformation videos…. Great work… All to spare CNN and Fox news from dislikes…. Insane. All the covid denier videos all have nothing but likes. Spam and scams in YouTube shorts Many channels spam YouTube shorts and post spam with sexual content in the comments. There are also a lot of channels that spam scams that are directed at children, promising free Robucks and vbucks if they click the link in their description. Censoring ratings for bigger profits Recently YouTube have been removing the ability to dislike videos and only showing likes. This is a huge problem because it will make it a lot harder to pick out videos that are clickbait/scams/bad(have bad intentions that might be harmful or damaging economically to the viewer). Before creators had the option themselves to either enable dislikes and likes or just remove the ratings completely (seeing videos with ratings disabled would have made the videos look more untrustworthy and thus making the viewer more skeptical to the information being said which is good). Now, with the new update creators themselves will not even be able to show their audience their own negative ratings, and that will make everyone more susceptible to scams and such(even though YouTube say scams are out of their guidelines and the videos will be removed quickly, this is not the case. YouTube have time and time again showed the inability to remove harmful content and such). Removing dislikes is like removing the overall star rating of a restaurant or hotel, it’s absolutely ridiculous. Or even worse like it is currently, just showing the positive reviews so all the hotels in the area are rated 5 stars even though many have huge flaws. And guess what, YouTube said this was because of targeted harassment towards some creators. Yes that is true it happens but that is like one case out of 300-1000 YouTubers. I would literally eat my own shoe if not more than 80% of creators want dislikes to be shown again. Probably the 10th. time I say this, creators WANT dislikes to be shown because it helps bolster their own reputation since most do not have anything to hide. And yes I know comment sections exist but they just make it ridiculously hard to judge a video when there literally is a rating on the video that sadly now only shows positive things. And the comment section can also be removed by the creator. So basically what creators can do now is remove the comment section and BAM the video suddenly only have positive reviews being shown to the person watching. We all know YouTube really doesn’t give a crap about some small YouTuber. Removing dislikes is their way of making advertisers happy(and probably pay more) because now none of their advertisements are shown on a video with bad reviews and thus giving their product a better reputation. So YouTube I personally challenge you; why not do it the democratic way, give all the creators a real voice and give THEM the opportunity to vote for dislikes to be shown again..
