Great experience but wishing for some small improvements Dear Garmin Explore I wanted to ask if you could possibly correct or modify the app to allow tracks across the outer edges of the map (e.g. far eastern part of Russia) as when I crossed the edge it “jumps” and draws a line across the entire map in the opposite direction. Dynamic route planner finally implemented After the latest updates where dynamic route planner finally has come into place, this is now the app that has everthing I wished for to be able to create trails for exciting training trips, or use as navigation/ map on my longer hikes through woods and mountains. A great tool that works in perfect synergi with my Fenix 5X on the wrist. This review will now be the long-awaited sixth star from me. Thank you Garmin.. Sintech Versjon: 3.1

Okay, but could have more I have tried some of these apps now. And what I like about it is that it isn’t road centric. Meaning, it doesn’t force you to follow a path already on the map. One reason is, quite a lot of paths and that I follow aren’t on a map. And especially not the greatly reduced map used here. Another reason is I use it with a canoe also, and the waterways are just as relevant to me. If an app has a feature to use paths on maps, it should be easy to turn off for parts of the trip, and it should also be easy to set it to follow waterways. Updating and changing paths could also be easier, I’ll say. I often want to rough out an idea first, and work more at it if it seems like a plan. Also, the map is greatly reduced as I said, and that can be a problem. I use the OsmAnd app also, and if the app could borrow the maps installed for that app it would be great. Or if it could be possible to download better maps for a selected area. Perhaps both? Another feature was, could the app be used to download BirdsEye images? What I use these images for is studying details on an area of the map. It may be an area that looks interesting or troublesome. But a great thing about the inreach is I don’t need to plan a trip in detail before I go, I can make a rough plan and change it according to weather and other conditions. So I can end up not knowing where I need those detail images before I’m on the trail. Not tethered to a computer. If the explore app could be used to download BirdsEye images to the phone, and then perhaps even transfer those to the GPS, it would be great. Another feature is, when fishing you’re often interested in bathymetry. Not all those other boating data, just a depth map of the lakes you may want to fish. En flott app til turplanlegging men har problemer med synkronisering Appen til Garmin er kjempeflott til turplanlegging. Liker veldig godt å kunne lage ruter som både viser lengde og høydeplott. Appen skal synkronisere med alle klokker i Garmin Fenix 5 serien. Får koblet klokken til appen, og får synkronisert, men finner ikke rutene / løypene på klokken etter synkronisering. Ifølge support siden til Garmin skal appen også kunne brukes med klokken Tactix Charlie, men inne i appen så står det at enheten ikke støttes. Regner med at dette vil bli ordnet i senere versjoner. Map issues A great app in many ways, but for planning a route off track in the forrest, the map is simply useless, and i would almost call it dangerously lack of map information - its lacking lakes, streams, swamps and a ton of useful details for safe hiking off track. oki, during the winter and when the snow covers the terrain its nice to know that you can plan your skiing route in safe areas. Currently its not possible to upload other maps than what is pre installed Topo Active at least not here in europe - you can’t buy a high detailed map for your area and install/download that either. Kinda a downer for such otherwise a great app. Currently i have to use my paper map togheter with my montana 750i wich i have installed Topo Norway Experience V5 on to safely plan an offtrack route on - i do hope in the near future that the mapping will be upgraded or that we can implement/buy high resolution maps we can use within this app Ak28, thank you for your feedback. I'm curious if you have downloaded the TopoActive map for Norway. I ask because that definitely has lakes, streams, land cover (vegetation), contours, trails, roads, rails, and more to help you with planning. Our latest update with Course Creator uses TopoActive and lets you use these roads and trails to create your routes. Please confirm that you have TopoActive downloaded by viewing Map Settings and looking at the downloaded maps list. Thank you, Chip Noble, Product Manager, Garmin" Hello Chip Noble Yes Sir, ive got the latest update and the latest version of TopoActive Norway - yes it does show somewhat lakes/streams/contours, but it is simply missing so much map data/information in form of streams contours and is basically exeptionally low on details, its extremly hard to plan a safe route of track, im not talking about trails or roads here. For a better understanding of what im talking about you can compare TopoActive Norway with a basic map (paper version) of suthern Norway, or digitally tour map found on google Norgeskart.no - these maps are up to date and safe to use in all conditions, i would recommen a standard on Garmin Explore to have same map details as the Norway Experience V5 or similar maps. Lacks detail when zooming out It is impossible find an area to download, as all details disappear when you zoom out. Eg. Argentina, no roads or city markers are visible until you zoom to 6 km bar (topo map enabled). On ipad at least waypoints are visible but not on iphone.. Ballflyer Version: 4.0.3

Elendig og ubrukelig bakgrunnskart Kartgrunnlaget i appen er av typen TopoActive Europe med alt for dårlig detaljer/oppløsning, spesielt i forhold til kartverkets turkart i målestokk 1:50 000 og 1:20 000. Konturintervallet er 50m, mot kartverkets 20m/10m. Appen TopoGps har 1:50 000 kart for hele Norge for kr. 44,-. Bedre kart, samt flybilder ala finn.no kart eller google map, ville gjort Garmin Explore til en veldig god app.. Difje Version: 3.2

Ikke mer en det må være Kartet er ikke brukanes for planlegging av turer i Norge. Alt for dårlig kvalitet. Burde være mulig å få inn kjøpte kart. I det siste så har jeg hatt problemer med at app og klokke mister parkoblingen. Dette skjer flere ganger i uka og når jeg kobler opp på nytt så kommer ikke de turene jeg har gått inn..
