ABOUT THE CURRICULUM

Modern Manners and Mental Fortitude is a research-backed, CASEL-aligned life skills program built around five core modules: Modern Manners, Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Navigation, Digital Citizenship, and Personal Growth.

Designed for Grades K-12 as well as community and adult settings, the program uses a spiral curriculum structure in which all four core pillars revisit at increasing levels of complexity across every module.

Four Core Pillars: Respectful Communication, Emotional Regulation, Decision-Making Under Pressure, and Accountability and Repair.

Two student-facing thinking frameworks anchor every lesson. PLRR (Pause, Label, Reframe, Respond) builds self-regulation under stress. POCC (Pause, Options, Consequences, Choose) structures decision-making under competing priorities.

This app is designed for licensed program users who have enrolled through readyforreal.life. Eligible users include K-12 teachers, school counselors, school administrators, university instructors, community program facilitators, youth organization leaders, and students.

THE RESEARCH BEHIND THE DESIGN

The curriculum is grounded in Tyler (1949), Bruner (1960), Dewey (1938), CASEL (2020), Stern et al. (2021), Wiles and Bondi (2015), and Lang (2021). It is aligned with Utah CASEL and CCA Core Standards.

Built from nearly 20 years of law enforcement, crisis response, and youth mentorship, including SRO experience at Blue Peak High School and delivery of Lions Quest to every sixth grader in Tooele City, this program brings real-world perspective to every lesson.
