This app has costed me so far a very reasonable subscriber fee per month and brought me countless hours of joy. The crosswords are edited beautifully thanks to Will Shortz and the special themes are transleted very well into this app. This is my go-to app for any kind of idle time. Just don‘t use it if you want to have some spare time in your life. Absolutely wonderful!

A great app with the best UX of all of the crossword apps out there. The puzzles are a bit repetitive in terms of words but I'm quite happy in general. The only thing that I am very much missing is a dark mode that works across the entire app (so including the menus and the other games) and adheres to the system settings. I understand this means adapting each game but I think this should be a standard feature nowadays. Having to constantly adjust the crossword color mode manually is a bit tedious.

In general, the app functions really well, and solving even the big crosswords is comfortable on a small phone screen. However, it’s a shame that only some games are available through the app. For games like Letterboxed, you have to go through a browser, and while that works fine, there is no obvious rhyme or reason for the exclusion of some games from the app. I hope this will be added eventually.

Love the app, but most recent update seems to have removed the ‘recent’ puzzles section. Pretty bummed, otherwise 5 stars.

Love the app. Could do with a nighttime mode. Sometimes I can’t sleep and don’t want my eyes to get too much contrast. Thanks!

It would be even better if you could play/sync the other NYT games as well (Vertex, Letter Boxed, Sudoku, Tiles, and Wordle)

Man hat anfangs kostenlos die Premiumversion und Zugriff auf alle Rätsel. Selbst später in der kostenlosen Version hat man noch Zugriff auf das Rätsel des Tages und jeweils das erste Rätsel jedes neuen Rätsel-Pakets sowie auf einige kostenlose Rätsel-Pakete kompletten Zugriff. Alles in allem echt gut und amüsant!

Puh, if English isn't your mother tongue, then solving the NYT crosswords is far from easy. I'm German and alwyas thought my English to be ok, but I only manage to solve around 40% on my own. But I hope to get better ^_^ There's always the possibility to check on words, reveal letters etc. So you can always find a way to solve it. The enter modes are easy to use and you can choose from a broad variety of crosswords. This app offers you a lot for being free! I'd recommend it to anybody who likes to solve crosswords and whose English level is above average!!

The new version is really good! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because there isn't an undo.... Sometimes you press a letter by mistake and undo Would be great ...

Simple to use and great puzzles... there are a few glitches in the programming that keep this from being 5 stars but it is still really good.

Ok, so the program downloads the crossword, and checks your entries. we could have had that in the 90s, but why does it crash so much?

A very good App.

I really like the NYT Crossword app, but I can't understand, why the other puzzles are not part of the app, only crossword (without the monthly, which is even well hidden in the NYT app) and Spelling Bee. I play Vertex and Wordl on a daily base and have to switch to the NYTimes-App (Vertex) and the Safari (Wordl) all the time. That's annoying. And it would be great if there could be a Spelling Bee résumé so one could look up which words one missed. Long story short: nice app, good games, but lots of room to grow.

Any time you open the app you can now play Login Bingo! You just prepare a sheet with squares that contain each game the app offers. Now, anytime you open the app, you cross off the game which asks you to please login first, despite the fact that you are logged into other games. And generally are logged into the app. A lovely new game of madness! PS: Sometimes it helps to go to your account settings and log out. Which result in you being logged into some of the games. 🙃

It’s a nice time waster, but incredibly insanely expensive. Monthly subscription gives you two crosswords a day, but those are pretty obviously at least half auto generated and repeat their hints/solutions way too often. Other crosswords have to be bought extra for some hefty sums, in addition to the expensive subscription. That’s not okay, but it’s still the best (and one of the only decent) crossword apps out there.

When you add a new device where you usually don’t play your winning streak on your main device is reset to zero even if you’re on a long winning streak on your account. 😕

Still no proper iPad Pro Support. Runs, but does not use the whole screen.
