Oxford Dictionary & Thesaurus Kundeservice

Are you sometimes frustrated because Google translate does not understand you? Well for me the answer was to get a modern version of the famous Oxford dictionaries book. The digital dictionaries are full of descriptions needed to have an interesting and more precise talk to anyone. In my case talking to Asians. In my view This app is also good to have for looking up the least used English words when having a message-conversation with an educated American.

Has comprehensive explanations for all the strange English words I come across. Reading English becomes easier.

Very good, apart from two things: it often reverts back to the front page when you’ve typed a word, and the favourite words list has been wiped by a bug several times. The old app was perfect, I don’t understand why it was developed into a worse one, and why these bugs have not been fixed, after at least a year!

The inn-app purchase is a little bit on the pricey end, unless you compare it to the pricing of a physical dictionary. I like that I can download the entire dictionary onto my device, as I often tend to study with my phone in flight mode. The flashcard function is handy as well, especially for those of you who want to expand your vocabulary.

The app is decent, but has a lot of features that need refinement. Word of the day often comes without a working pronunciation sound clip, and sound clips in general do not work. The random word of the day is often without value. There should be a filter so I don’t get the name of persons as the word of the day. I am not interested in this at all. In some instances, I believe the dictionary should have minimalistic pictures explaining concepts, as words are not always enough. Several excellent, physical dictionaries have this.

Numerous bugs. Word of the day produces the same word for several days. When you seek up a word you regularly are transferred back to the start page. From the app you are encouraged to rate it, but the only option is to rate it five stars. Ridiculous.

Oxford is top notch. High quality explanations with good examples. Pronunciation. All you would expect. I particularly find the Favourites fuction very useful for growing my own base of words to revisit and rehearse every now and then.

Nice to have a full Dictionary on the phone and pad. Very good tool

Love the app! Handy when studying English at the university! And not being strong in the Phonetics it is GOLD to have a possibility to hear words I don’t know how to pronounce!

Simply the most trustworthy dictionary.

It’s now completely unusable without a subscription. It now only allows you to look up a single word before locking you out of the word list unless you pay the subscription. It’s a good dictionary, but a good dictionary for people with more disposable income than I have. There are other, useable, alternatives. One single word is kind of... idk, I think the OED could have chosen a more sympathetic developer.

The App is crowded with pushy pop-ups for the Premium version with added functionality. Bad user experience. No thesaurus.

What money hungry app :)

You will have to uncheck almost a hundred so-called «legitimate interest» settings as well as other privacy settings which is really bad practice. There is not fully «privacy by default» here something I believe the EU GDPR authorities will find interesting.
