Best graphing calc. in the app store...This program out-performs all other graphing calculators in the app store as far as capability, symbolic calculation and graphics rendering. True, the GUI isn't all that "simple" or "intuitive"... But this isn't "Upset Pigeons" it's a scientific graphing calculator. Likewise, it's marketing more towards people who have a solid background in upper level mathematics and are looking for an app that will render, say, a Gaussian integral in ultra-crisp resolution and superbly accurate proportion, all while having the ability to smoothly manipulate its 4-dimensional (x,y,z,t) parameters on the fly, rather than another "deceptively simple", "easy to learn" app with "addictive game play". I would give it 5 stars, but an app this powerful really should have a means of quickly exporting its graphics, more efficient input & editing for vectors/matrices and include a more comprehensive support of complex variables..WordlearnerVersion: 5.0

I Always Go Back To This AppI need to preface this before moving on, I'm certainly no mathematician and I'm definitely not an app developer. However, I have a sincere appreciation for mathematics and I do homeschool my teenage son and in this process of teaching my 11th grader I myself have to review and grade all his math projects, now when I do this I actually use this app (excuse me, I have been using Spacetime, I just upgraded to this Math Studio app) and I do so because of the UI. Prior to using the app I went through all the tutorials and I truly like working with this user interface, for me it is easy to use. Other feedback, that appeared negative, reads as if an app developer was writing about the UI? So, I thought that I would put my two cents worth as an end user. Finally, I have bought several other calculator apps but I always keep going back to using this one..What a world what a worldVersion: 5.0

Almost PerfectThis is my first review of an application. I felt obliged to write it because I respect the developers for making it for the IPad. I use it for teaching calculus in my university. My students love it. I initially felt bad because they did not have MathStudio for free for people who owned spacetime. But after I used it, I believe that they deserve every penny that I spent. If they had asked for $20 I would have bought it also. Do not hesitate, buy it and you won't be sorry. Hope to see more updates more frequently. It still requires some improvements. AmazingThis is not a standard calculator app. This isn't what I break out when I need to quickly add a few numbers together. This is, however, probably the best calculator for higher mathematics available on the app store. Need to visualize a 3D parametric function? Done. Need to quickly integrate some problematic function? The answer appears almost instantly. I understand that this app isn't quite Mathematica level, but then again it doesn't cost several hundred dollars like Mathematica does. If you simply need a general calculator, then this app is not for you. Top Quality SoftwareAs a university professor teaching statistics and research design, I have virtually every math app available on iTunes. This app is is without a doubt in the top five percent of all the apps I have. I used to have the old "SpaceTime" app which was also excellent but this upgrade tops even that. In addition to using it for your iPhone/iPad, making the investment to download it to your PC is also highly worthwhile. Paul, and the other developers are also courteous and very professional to work with when I had some trouble activating the PC version. Very nice!I use this very often in Algebra 2, and soon I will use this in Calculus. This is much nicer to use than a TI, and much cheaper. I got it at $10, compared to $170 for a TI. Very worth while, and does everything I can imagine and more! I would suggest that the developers add the ability to export the graphs as pictures in the camera role (not as a screenshot, but standalone picture file of the graph, without the title bar or interface in the image). It would be nice to export these to other apps, such as in documents and power points. Potent math powerI'm a freshman engineering student in calculus and multidimensional math. Math Studio is taking time to learn, but its graphic displays are superb, solutions to multiple linear equations fast, loading speed decent, and ability to work with files at times truly delightful. The program offers plenty of functions that, of course, take time to explore and learn. Rather than lug a laptop about, I carry Math Studio everywhere on my iPod and thus rarely suffer from "mathematicus interruptus." Very powerful, but messy interfaceI love this app-I'm an engineering student and I mainly use it to double check my homework or if I'm really stuck on a particular problem. It's been able to calculate everything from Calc 1-Calc 3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Calc-based physics, Statics, Dynamics, etc. but learning how to get the app to do those problems was another learning experience entirely. As long as you have patience learning how the app works, you won't have any trouble using it for simple to advanced math. Not for the NoviateI am not certain whom the developers of this app are aiming to please. In this and in their formerly wonderful, now merely functional, Solve, they seem largely to be pleasing themselves. Math Studio is a very good program, but apparently not powerful enough for serious mathematicians, and much too complex for amateurs. I tutor high school math. I keep Math Studio on my phone for the rare occasions on which I need power and flexibility, especially in graphing, that I can't find elsewhere, and on which I have the time to work through the fairly complex interface..GoodtutorVersion: 5.4

Great appThis program is very easy to use considering how powerful the graphing utility is. The ability to simply add a time component opens up the realm for a lot of discussion in class. To the person who said it gives an incorrect answer taking the derivative of ln(xyz) wrt y, you would need to write ln(x*y*z) to get the correct answer. Like any other moderately compleat graphic system, you can name your variables anything you want. So it thinks xyz is your variable instead of x times y times z. ScalingHi there, i have the same problem with my galaxy nexus and couldn't solve it. In polar-mode the function sin(θ) should produce a circle. The small view shows it, but the large view shows an egg (approximately :-). That is called a bug in my current universe ;-). The grid-rectangles seem to have the ratio of the physical display. Update coming soon—as a new appThe main reason I still use MathStudio instead of PocketCAS is because I like the interface better. PocketCAS is a bit more capable, but it's ugly. MathStudio, formerly SpaceTime, will soon be updated as a new app. You should view your purchase as temporary, since the developer has a pattern of letting this app languish for a couple years before releasing a separate app to replace it. Asking me to pay twice for the paid offline version?!!I paid for the offline version of this a couple of years ago and now they've replaced it with a completely different free app that requires internet access to work. Not happy with the update!I have used this app since the first version, the SpaceTime. This app should have been very useful. However, before this update there were essentially no updates. Or, when there were updates, one had to pay many more bucks for them. Even though the present update is for free, it's only a shrunk-down version. One has to pay 40 bucks for the complete updated version. I have several scripts programs written with previous versions. After the automatic update to the present version, those scripts files can no longer be accessed even though they are still hidden in the app's allocated memory space. A scripts file should be able to be stored or copied as a simple text file, but this app does not allow one to do that. What's worse is that the only way to transfer files is through connecting to iTunes. That's really a ludicrous thing to do nowadays! Another thing to complain is about the manual for functions. There are essentially no explanations whatsoever about how to use them in the examples shown. One has to figure out by oneself the meaning for each variable or parameter used by the functions. Still a pile of bugsStill buggy as heck. I've bought this twice now, first as Spacetime and now as Math Studio because it feels so close to being useful, but I still cant use it for anything other than as a toy. I suspect the positive reviews are from people doing single entry calculations because I've been trying for over a year to use this for serious computation and it simply unusable- never because of problems with the underlying math engine but always because of top level interface bugs. The latest are the disappearing menu bar and the inability to recalculate plots after saving a worksheet. Those will get fixed and something else will be introduced to make the app unusable. I have spent $90 on this product since the Original Spacetime and now have basically watered down apps on three devices. I am a Mathematics Professor with over 1000 students a year and used to have it in my syllabus as my "top recommendation" but now it is the only app listed as "avoid". Shameless self promotionThis app is a little confusing to use. I come from matlab and liked the idea of a scripting env on the go. This app doesn't deliver. Very disappointedI don't write anything negative often, however this time is special. I was hoping that this app would help in my cal class, however it is not accessible. Great, but for how long?I made the mistake of updating this app. Now, for some reason I cannot change the range of the displayed 3D graph except by going to the full screen graph and selecting the window. A black hole from an accessibility perspectiveDisappointing. The user interface is rather gaudy, the developers need to learn a thing or two about UI design. It get's worse, the developers have not bothered to support iOS's built-in accessibility features, like VoiceOver which could have made this a good to for visually impaired users. Gives wrong answersAs a math teacher I'm always interested in seeing what's new in technology for math. While it might work for very simple questions, it does not appear to handle even somewhat complicated questions. I asked "what is the lateral surface area of a square pyramid with base 6 inches and height 4 inches" it gave me an answer of 36 in.² and 4 inches. I tried the same question, or did exactly the same way in Wolfram Alpha and it gave me a perfect answer along with a diagram. Ans button not workingPlease fix the ans button. Every time I use ans in a expression to take the result of the last calculated answer, it gives me the wrong answer. For example, if the last expression evaluated to be 5 and you type "ans+5" then hit solve, it gives you 10. Every time you hit solve, it keeps adding 5 to the answer. This is very inconvenient for problems where you get the answer as a fraction and you hit solve to get it in the decimal form. Fix this issue and I will rate this app a 5 star..DirtyqVersion: 5.5.2
