Fender Play: Learn Guitar App Comments & Reviews

Fender Play: Learn Guitar Positive Reviews

Adult learnerAs an adult learner I have found the fender app/website to be extremely useful. I can play it on any device i have and the video/audio quality is never subpar. That means i can take my guitar anywhere and play lessons from my phone, which is helpful when I have a bit of free time in between the events in my day. The instructors and instructions are clear and I like the fact they show a variety of camera angles when teaching chords and techniques. Best of all, I can revisit each video as many times as a need to, work at my own pace, and move ahead when i feel new information might be helpful to mastering previous techniques or to add variety. Overall, excellent job Fender. One MAJOR request that I have since I am coming from previous experiences playing piano and vocals, is that you provide lessons on how to transpose music from standard notation to tab and back again so I can use the music book i have collected over the years to play the songs I love. Thanks again Fender!.Version: 5.1.0

Great App for budding intermediate guitaristStarted playing guitar at the beginning of Covid. I haven’t put it down since. This is my second ‘self taught’ app I’ve used and I feel like this is progressing my skills and ability to the next level. Pros: - Video instruction for virtually every type of lesson, song, etc. This was huge for me and helped me grasp concepts and figure placements much quicker). - Logical and robust course design with real world considerations. Lessons aren’t limited to guitar technique. Courses range from music reading, knowing your guitar, theory, amp and tone, and so much more. Basically everything you need to become a competent guitarist (at least from my understanding as to what that is at this stage in the game...lol). - Along w/ Video instruction there you can view preset tones for a given song or lesson, tabs, chord diagrams, and effect playback speed. Cons: - Lots of content but not a good way to organize what’s relevant outside of the course structure. (For Developers/UX designers PLEASE SEE SUGGESTION below) Suggestions: - Develop a way for a user to organize content relevant to him or her. Right now you can ‘Love’ a piece of content and it’s saved in your favorites in the order of when you ‘Loved’ a particular piece of content. This becomes next to useless the more items you have tracked (I.e. various lessons, songs, etc.) It would be BETTER if you could create folders or some type of personalized lesson plan..Version: 3.0.0

Fender Play is incredibleFender Play is a great option for learning electric guitar. There are songs, chords, and, unlike Simply Guitar, it actually teaches you tablature. There is one bug, however, and that’s sometimes when I play a video for a course, it glitches and plays the audio from the start while continuing to play the audio from where I’m at, and the video is just frozen. I just restart the app when that happens, but if you could fix it that would be great. Anyway, I just wanted to say I found an easier way to play Enter Sandman, the third riff on the course I’m currently doing. You play open low E 3 times, then you play the 6th fret on low E, then the 5th fret, then repeat, but on each repeat play the first low E 4 times. That’s how I found it easier to play. Can you see why I call myself the Overranter? Sorry for making you read, whoever sees this..Version: 7.3.2

It is the best!I am so happy about this app but one thing about it is that it cost $50 a month after your 2 week trial but other that that it is the best way to learn your ukulele I definitely recommend it to you it has been my 3 week of learning the ukulele and I have been taking my time I usually practice every other day after school I am now learning to transition into different notes and the best part is you can ask questions to who ever is teaching you I am a little bit weird but I like to play my ukulele backwards and they said it is ok as long as I tone it backwards so I did and I am having no trouble with this app what so ever they also show videos on how to do everything step by step I definitely recommend this to you and if you get this app I really hope you love it as much as I do!.Version: 2.7.2

Good Learning PlatformI have been enjoying Fender Play for some time now. I like the large number and variety of songs and riffs it offers. There are a number of Live programs featuring players who discuss interesting topics related to playing guitar. I also appreciate the inclusion of Bass and Ukulele. I play ukulele, and while I don’t play bass these lessons help me better understand rhythm. Some lessons feature a simplified version of songs. That’s helpful, but I wish the lesson would also include the original version. The teachers do a great job of counting notes to help in playing songs. I do wish there was an option to include notation as well as tablature. While I can easily find songs, I sometimes have difficulty navigating the menu. Finally, Fender Play offers a great way to preview the vast lineup of instruments Fender has to offer. All in all, Fender Play is a very good learning platform..Version: 6.3.1

Learning made easy-erWhat’s to like so far (a few weeks in), for guitar only? Instructors speak clearly and visuals that accompany them are usually really good. As an example, seeing front and top views of the fretboard while they play really helps one see where the fingers go when. Also great is the review function, I don’t love turning my phone’s mic on for apps, but this is great that it listens and grades you, so use it. Use of tablature is welcome as well as the scrolling chords by name. Strum along in time. Some things that seem off? Settings for “counting in” happen with some types of exercises but not others, regardless of the settings I change. Also, the measures themselves in certain exercises aren’t physically/visually the same width so the time keeping aspect “speeds up” and “slows down” in an odd way. I know even sheet music sometimes doesn’t stay consistent- but for learning purposes it does make it harder to keep a consistent pace. I understand price and value are highly variable-this is the most expensive app I have purchased on my phone. Also, I did try to use the Fender purchasing discount at a dealer and they had never heard of it-so maybe spreading that good word would be a good thing to save us some money supporting Fender. Over all a great app that I hope keeps me growing my skills for a long time to come..Version: 5.8.0

Good but dryI’m a light intermediate bassist after 6 months but want to get better. I started with this app to see about picking up things I may have missed and work on improvement. I am *very* glad that I did not start my bass learning with this app. While technically ok, it doesn’t really pull you into the feel of the music and the fun of playing. It also breezes over a lot of things that actually take some work to learn, while spending too much time in other areas. And at times it really feels like it’s a long Fender advertisement (which is ok, but there’s more out there!) Overall, this app is just not nearly as enjoyable and motivating as it could be to get you hooked playing a new instrument. The app is heavy on technique - which is good, but at least early on is very light on theory or assumes vocabulary and scale knowledge that you may or may not have. I also find their reliance on just tabulature notation alone to be disconcerting. Tab has lots of good things about it but really misses a lot, especially when trying to teach rhythm. Luckily, there are lots of places out there to learn more. I started learning with Josh Fossgreen’s BassBuzz - and am very happy that I started there. There are also other good folks out there for beginning lessons. After you have some comfort, come back and pick up things that maybe you missed before, and use this app to get better..Version: 3.0.0

A must for new guitaristIf you are new to the guitar do not hesitate and get Fender Play. If you are early intermediate do get it. Playing a new instrument does not happen overnight. There are truly no shortcuts and an effort on your part will be required along with lots of patience. At first results are slow, so buckle up. Fender Play will help you get the ball rolling. It will start your journey with basics and offer you material to get satisfaction. To its credit, fender play has many instructors to teach you fundamental techniques and the moment you begin to progress you will lots of songs to play. But, if you are a newbie, remember it all starts with small bites and patience and perseverance. Stick with Fender Play and without doubt you will succeed..Version: 3.4.0

Old guy trying to learn to playFender Play has been the BEST instruction for someone like me in my mid to late 50’s trying to learn to play guitar. I have had fender play just over a year now and it’s been great being able to repeat or move on if I feel ready or even sometimes just feeling I need to move on to do something new. My fingers aren’t the best in transition, but I can tell that I have gotten better in the last year by quite a bit. I’m just still very raw I guess due to my age and never having played before. I love the instructors throughout all the levels and I love that all the lessons are like quick hitters and then you practice and then they teach you a riff from so many different songs. I just hope I can see this through and actually be playing someday even this late in my life..Version: 4.7.0

Great place to start!I am completely new to learning an instrument other than the 2 weeks in Jr. high on a sax., so when I was given a Epiphone SG and an amp because I have always been curious to play I was like now what? I started browsing and searching the net and found descent reviews of Fender play and I was familiar with their name of guitars so I tried the trial and after it was over signed up and have been moseying along ever since. I can go at whatever pace I need for the week the hard part is trusting in the method but if you let go and just do the modules it will start to come together. I also got a basic theory book on rock and blues helps set up a practice regiment with Fender play..Version: 4.7.0

Surreal and Awesome! Its a surreal experience! Feeling as if the instructor is truly sitting in the room with you. I really appreciate the abillity to go back to the basics and remind myself the core rules/lessons. Being able to search for a specific song, chord, etc.. Is awesome! Knowing the lesson is being given by a well vetted individual, TRULY ROCKS! Making a very efficient use of my time. I have not used the sound downloads as I do not have an electric guitar. I highly look forward to the day I have a GT series amp. and an electric guitar! The Fender Tune App is by far the best Ive used, and is extrememly helpful! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time even with an entry level acoustic. Thank You FENDER!!!.Version: 6.1.0

Rewarding but flawedI’ve been learning for about 2 weeks from the app and I’ve been getting quite annoyed by the videos themselves. They’re unresponsive at time when trying to rewind, pause or to even access the video controls. And that when the video controls are up, the block the chord progressions. It makes it worse that you can’t pause the video without blocking the progressions. I’ve also been having trouble with the app loading up, but none of the content appearing, and only for it to crash when tapping the “levels button.” Other than these specific annoyances the information is remarkably good. You learn with a mixture of slow exercises to then utilize them in songs. All while practicing various other things.Version: 2.6.4

Login Problems & Subscription ProblemIn all it’s a great app, when it lets you log in. I finally decided to get a subscription so I choose plan. Got a message stating that signing up for the subscription was successful. Next window pops up asking to choose a plan or sign in. So each time I signed in It kept displaying the message, Choose a plan. And I check my subscription list in my settings and it shows up as currently subscribed to Fender play. I already contacted customer support and I have yet to hear back. The four stars are for when it works and let’s you sign in. When it was free it worked very well. So if it’s ok with Fender let go back to the free trial at least then it let me login..Version: 4.10.0

Love it, but can you add 7-String lessons as wellThis app has help me move from playing in private to not being embarrassed at all to play in front of people (on bass and guitar). All in the span of two years. I now have my kids using it, and I love being able to switch paths easily and learning the songs, which helps me write my own songs. Will there ever be a 5-String bass and 7-String guitar lesson added? I have a 5-String bass and learned through experimenting how to incorporate the B string. I plan on getting a 7-String guitar, and it would be great to have pros show me, to avoid experimenting. Would take nothing away from the app, here’s an extra ⭐️.Version: 3.4.0

Good but seems like better options out thereI’m a beginner, and while I like fender play, it’s missing a couple things that would make it much better. A simple thing is that the tabs don’t scroll along with this lesson, or auto scroll when you practice on your own. Consequently, you can’t see the sheet music while you’re playing along. You can only see one line at a time. It’s a simple thing but has really hampered my progress. Also I don’t know why they don’t include the lyrics along with the tab, they even say how you should sing along with the song, but don’t make that available to you. I signed up for the full year, and now I regret it because I think I’d rather try something like yousician that gives you feedback as well as has these other features..Version: 2.1

Just started itSo it looks good. I am a new to the guitar and I’m am excited about learning. This ap seems like it’s made to accommodate even the slowest learners. Some improvement, I use this app on my phone and in practice mode the screen doesn’t turn sideways. This is a hide problem because the music sheet is small and harder to read. Rotate it so it’s mandatory and let the music sheet run across the screen (from right to left). Have a stationary colored bar align with the notes you’re suppose to play when you’re suppose to play them. Please add an option where I can play with the song so I know what I’m suppose to sound like. It could be a simple switch. Either play with or without the music. Thank you for the app..Version: 2.12.2

Thank you! Fender play. From the onset let me extend my apologies for any grammatical errors that make the reading of his review 😁 The fender play app has allowed me to pursue a life’s ambition of learning to play the guitar by permitting in-home training at a pace and schedule that fits into the craziness that is home life. One of the greatest benefits of the training stems from the requirement to take a few moments out of each crazy day of thing called life and focus on myself ( not something I am good at ). The lessons are not only helping me learn to play also develop a greater level of “Mindfulness” and innermost peace, if put for the briefest moment 🤦‍♂️ Thank you Fender.Version: 4.0.1

Nicely paced instruction but okay appFender’s instructional pace is nice and they really get down to the nuts and bolts of how to play music but the app is lacking. Most egregious of all is the streak counter. Most times, it fails to update itself or have the correct date or number of practice sessions. I’ve found that if I kill the app entirely and then practice, it is usually right but weeks have passed where I didn’t get credit for practicing. This is fine but kind of weird that a function that they push with marketing campaigns and push notifications doesn’t work. Other than that, I think allowing the video to be put into the corner so that I can focus on the sheet music would be helpful. I use my iPad while practicing and more than half the screen is obfuscated by the video and I can’t see ahead to the next set of chords are unless I take my hands off the guitar to scroll. The app is a nice cross platform app, though. It rarely crashes and the design is really nice. Of course I wish it hooked into my guitar interface and listened to see if I was hitting notes correctly but I know that’s a heavy ask for a cross platform app..Version: 2.11.0

Excellent AppThe Fender Play app is extremely well made and organized. I decided to pick up guitar during the lockdown and this app has lessons that are a good size where you feel meaningful progress can be made while still being able to pause whenever you like. The video instructions are quite well done. Being able to review previous videos and training material is a great plus. The app also seems to offer plenty of tutorials on how to play songs. I haven’t spent much time on those since I still a beginner but they seem equally well done as the rest of the app..Version: 2.12.3

The BEST App For Guitar!I have an electric guitar (Fender Squire Strat) and I love it! When you get the starter package, it comes with a 3-month membership card. The lessons are short and straightforward. I only have to pause 1-3 times per video depending on how fast they go (I don’t arch my fingers as well as they do). I haven’t had any trouble. There is a cool mark as done feature just in case you know a lesson or two’s worth of stuff, you can skip it. The app also asks how much knowledge you have. I have ADHD and haven’t been able to put the guitar down! I would rate it ♾/10! Would recommend! Thank you so much Fender!.Version: 3.5.0

Great app, great learning materialsI don’t write reviews often but this app made me want to do it. As a software engineer by day, I have to say that this app is well made and it’s so rare to see a non-tech companies having really good and easy to use mobile apps. Bravo, Fender Play team! As a beginner guitar player, I love lessons the app provides, they give you structured knowledge that you can transform into skills with great practice modes following the lessons. The process of learning guitar is so enjoyable with Fender Play. Additionally to that I really love their live streams which help you to immerse yourself into the world of guitar playing..Version: 5.1.0

Do the right thing!I wanted to give an update that I was contacted by a Fender and they did do the right thing and I got my membership back +6 months so thank you Fender! I purchased an annual membership back in October. I’ve used it since then and then all of a sudden they lost my account my email no longer shows up in their System so halfway through my subscription I no longer have access. I emailed them the receipt and proof I have a subscription but they’re like oh we can’t find your email so you’re out of luck. When I ask for to cancel there’s still gonna keep my money for a subscription I can’t use! This is so disappointing because I was really enjoying it😟 They need to do the right thing and create an account for at least six months so I can get my moneys worth. Again this is very disappointing I was really enjoying the app and I was learning how to play the guitar but this kind of service they just don’t even seem to care..Version: 3.2

From drums to bass in a few easy (and informative) lessons 👍Fist and fore most, I’m a drummer, but after missing out on a few paying gigs because I couldn’t play any other instruments... I picked up the the bass. I figure I would stay with the rhythm section, plus for ever 10 guitar players there’s maybe 1-2 bassist. But I digress ...this fender online class is really informative with easy to follow instructions and instructors that seem to really enjoy the instrument. So for anyone how’s looking for an online instruction class for the beginner or even those who’ve needed to add a little something to their playing, check out this class..Version: 1.8.4

Excellent app, so far so goodI am brand new to guitar. So far I like this app. It is what I needed — lesson plans that start from zero and progress rapidly. How I use it is on my Apple TV using the airplay option. That, however, doesn’t work for the audio only practices. So I need to disable airplay in order to get the audio out on my phone. Given these lessons are also available on the Fender website, I can imagine making an Apple TV app for very minimal effort (if you need help, reach out to me :-). I know market analysis will tell you only a small fraction of users do it this way but those of us on Apple TV would be forever grateful and I promise it can be done in one day (including App Store submission)..Version: 2.19.0

I’ve been looking for a way backThrough this app, Fender has made it possible for me to re-learn how to play guitar and bass. I enjoyed playing so much throughout my teens and early twenties, then real life hit hard. Being a parent, undergrad/grad school, and working full time has taken away so much of my free time, but now I can have my lessons without having to travel. Moreover, I can dedicate at least an hour a day to practice now, and I have an extra incentive to practice with the weekly prize drawings. This experience brings a lot of missed fun back into my day. Thank you Fender!.Version: 3.8.0

Super great app for people of all skills! So I would consider myself an intermediate player and I got a card for this app that came with my Fender Acoustic. So i decided to try it and it’s absolutely amazing! I didn’t think I could learn so many recognizable riffs in just a couple hours. My only real complaint though is the feedback mode. It’s a great system but it only works once and I have to close out the app to get it to work, which is a bit annoying. Overall, great app to learn not just guitar but music theory, and i know bass and ukelele is in there too! ez 5 stars.Version: 5.7.1

Bought a subscription but stuck in select a plan screen - editI recently purchased the annual subscription for Fender Play. However, whenever I go back to the app, it tells me to choose a subscription and won’t let me go further. After clicking, again, the annual subscription a message pops up saying: “You are currently subscribed to this”. Edit: took time to get the subscription but eventually it worked. App works great, and as a beginner, it is quite helpful. Will update when I am further into the program..Version: 4.3.0

Awesome appThis is an awesome app! We bought a guitar for my son for Christmas, his guitar came with three months free lessons with this app. We started yesterday, it’s so easy to understand and follow. No getting frustrated because they advance too fast. The lessons are broken down into bite size pieces, followed by a round of practicing what you just learned. They make it exciting enough by throwing you some new techniques so you don’t get bored. I’m highly enjoying learning guitar with him and this is THE perfect app to use (I also highly suggest getting their tuner app, works great).Version: 4.3.0

Great all the way aroundAfter trying many online programs and not being impressed I was a little skeptical. I thought for the price, it would be low risk to try. I have to say I’m impressed. I have been playing for years off and on but have not played in a few years. I started at the beginning which is geared for absolute beginners. Everything is explained and visual examples in the video on how to play in each lesson. The warm up exercises are are great also. There are a few things I learned that I did not get in earlier lessons. It’s definitely worth checking out..Version: 2.19.0

What’s Not To Love? You get to learn guitar in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace? This is an amazing program! The lessons are in bite sized pieces making it easy to squeeze lessons in whenever you’re able. I love that the lessons work on various parts of guitar playing. My steel strings were tough to get used to, but I finally have healthy callouses and am forging ahead. I’m so happy I discovered Fender lessons via their three month free program offered during shelter in place orders. Nice to create a silver lining during a worldwide pandemic. I especially love the fender community and the note sharing on Facebook!.Version: 2.14.0

Pretty fun for an old guyI didn’t know where to start when I decided to learn how to play the guitar. So I went to a pawn shop and bought a 50 dollar guitar and then found the Fender app. This thing is great. I can use it once a day or three times a day. It is ready whenever I have time and the lessons start just where I need them to start, right at the beginning. So having turned 61 years old I have found something that I am clearly horrible at that I plan to get better at. That’s pretty cool for an old guy and the Fender app is making it possible..Version: 2.6.3

Another RequestI’m enjoying the app; however, it is difficult to follow the tabs, even on my iPad Pro, because the video takes more than half the screen. Online, via the website, when you scroll up on the tags, the video minimizes and gives you a larger view of the tabs, which makes following along so much better. How is it that the online version has more features than the app? Also, it sure would be nice if the tabs were synchronized with the video, at least then I wouldn’t need to try scrolling as much. That being said - my fingers hurt, so I must be doing something right..Version: v2.4.1

Broke after updatingWas loving this app until the latest update. I opened the app to do my lessons for the day and it acts like I don’t have a subscription anymore. I bought an annual subscription not through the app and now it wants me to buy one through the app. I can access my account on the fender website just fine but the app won’t. I tried the restore purchase link but it does nothing. Will leave this one star until it gets restored. Update It has been fixed.Version: 6.0.2

Needs more music. For what it is; it’s a great app to learn from, but what I hate is the lack of varied music genres: pop, rock, blues, and country are wide terms for music, and their over all choice of songs is lacking. Especially in the rock department, as far as I could find because of a lack of an actual search option: I couldn’t find any Metallica, FFDP, and only a few AC/DC if I remember correctly. I guess I’m just mad that Fender bought, then shut down Riff Station. I hadn’t found any other app that allowed you to learn the very basics of any song from my obscure favorite of Der Erste Schritt with it’s beautiful acoustic to literally anything Linkin Park. I’d gladly pay the subscription if they had an eighth of the songs..Version: 1.5.1

Making it easier to follow alongI recently bought my 1st guitar a squire strat fender, I love almost everything about this app. Only thing is when the instructor is telling playing music with us we have to listen to them tell us to switch vs reading the chords. It’s extremely hard playing my guitar and the instructor playing his and trying to listen to his voice for the change. We should be able to read them music as we are playing not just hear the instructor. Maybe adding the chords to the bottom on the video so it is much easier keeping up and following along..Version: 1.4.4

For those intermediate playersIf your like me, you have some experience with the guitar. You know barr chords, you know a lot of songs and you want to take that next step. This is not the app to take that next step. This app is for people who have never played guitar in their life before. I downloaded this app to find out that for me, everything was too easy. In the beginning of the lessons, sometimes the instructor will play a really cool lick that I would like to learn but instead, you do the very basic version of what he just did. I felt like he/she just teased me in that moment. FOR BEGINNERS, I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS APP. But when you want to take that next step, go somewhere else..Version: 2.11.3

Great App - Excellent supportI’m just learning - never played guitar before - and this app has given me a very good start. The video lessons are clear and easy to follow , but it does help if you can capture the streams (use a video stream capture app on your laptop) so you can isolate segments of the videos and replay and study more closely on QuickTime . I first gave it a four star rating because I had trouble getting in touch with support (I may have made a mistake entering my email address in the web form) but I’m upgrading my four star rating to FIVE big stars - because the support team is excellent ..Version: 1.2.1

Great experience, Thanks FenderI took advantage of the free download opportunity during the pandemic, being confined to home, and an attempt to keep my sanity. The course was awesome, going at my own pace, with access to instructors and simple straight forward modules. Ive attempted many times over the years to learn a musical instrument, finally settling on a Ukulele. While struggling, with finger dexterity issues, I’ve found the fender play app has improved both my arthritis and memory. Thank you! Now, the monthly cost of 10.00 -12.00 dollars is really a bit steep..Version: 3.1.0

COVID FunThis is so easy and fun to learn the guitar with this App. Great way to pass COVID..Version: 2.20.3

Incredible for BeginnersJust started learning guitar for the first time and this app gives it us a clear and easy to follow structure. All you have to do is go through the lessons and practice sessions and you’ll see improvements within days. I started a week ago and can already play a couple small riffs and songs. Really love it and will continue paying for the membership. Thanks Fender!!.Version: 2.11.3

Rock & RollGreat app……having a blast going through all the lessons at my own pace. Instructors are all great and unique in their own way. Great job fender…..you make great guitars and also provide a platform to use them on also!!!.Version: 6.5.1

Excellent for learning, but inappropriate contentMy 12 and 9 year old learned ukulele using this app and wanted to learn guitar, but the graphic art work on the album covers of the songs used is completely unnecessary and inappropriate. Until there’s a setting to disable those images or they select songs from albums with more tasteful artwork, my subscription will remain cancelled..Version: 7.2.0

Great appThere are some bugs in feedback mode but in general great for beginners.Version: 7.0.1

Really Enjoying!!!I’m REALLY enjoying Fender Play so far!.Version: 5.1.0

Great app so far.The app is very nice to use. It’s nice that I can cast videos to my tv when practicing. Could use some organization in the skills tab (exercises, techniques, etc). Everything’s just kinda thrown in there..Version: 6.0.2

It is the worst app everIt sucks so much because it forced me to give it 5 star.Version: 5.0.2

Barre chordsGreat tutor.Version: 4.16.0

HelpfulI have learned some good things.Version: 4.15.0

What Notes Am I Playing?I’d love to see the option to switch between notes on the strings to TAB, but it appears Fender forces TAB only. How can I become a musician if I don’t know what notes I’m playing (rhetorical question).Version: 4.16.0

Learning guitarVery good training for me…older person with lots to be learned!!.Version: 4.3.0

So far so goodI am not musically inclined, but I always gravitate to the bass line in a song and decided I wanted to give it a go. I bought a cheap and used Ibanez off the internet and tried to teach myself using a scattered approach of watching YouTube videos. 2 years of this approach got me frustrated and nowhere. I came across this Fender app and started from scratch. (Learning the names of the bass parts, components and strings, etc). I’m only 3 weeks in of practicing every other day and I already feel further ahead than 2 years worth of random YouTube videos. The pros who teach the lesson are very good at teaching. It’s very encouraging. Thanks Fender..Version: 4.4.0

4 starsGreat app but I don’t like the fact that I have to pay for it and it needs more songs.Version: 4.3.0

Loving it!Decided to buy a guitar and learn how to play and am glad I did. The Fender app teaches the basics but doesnt drag on with boring beginner lessons as they mix in teaching you some fun riffs to get you excited to play. I also love the birds eye-view camera angle over the teacher so you can see how they place theyre fingers on the frets to form a chord. Recommend this app!.Version: 4.3.0

Great AppI find this app a great way to learn how to play a guitar in a practical sense. It allows the user to both learn in a well structured lesson and explore individual lessons..Version: 4.0.1

Thanks Fender!Ive had this app about 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoy it. They break everything down for the noob in all of us. I’ve been playing everyday and it keeps me coming back to learn more. Solid app. For me.. it’s worth every penny!.Version: 3.8.0

InstructorsGreat, calming, patient instructors. They make it feel like it isn’t video learning..Version: 3.5.0

Great experienceI really enjoy learning to play with the Fender Play app. The lessons are very helpful and the pace is perfect for learning a new instrument..Version: 2.20.2

It’s okay igI initially use this for a bass guitar which went great and then eventually decided to start learning the guitar but in the acoustic guitar lessons the instructors are playing electric. which really messed me up because it sounds different..Version: 3.3

Issues1. Intonation. 2. Fidelity to path. 3. Fidelity to instrument 1. Intonation: Before starting a lesson, I tune my guitar using the Fender Tune app. After starting my lesson I find that my guitar is not in tune with the instructor’s guitar, so I re-tune. Then, during a subsequent lesson with a different instructor, I have to re-tune again to be in tune with *this* instructor’s guitar. In a manufacturing plant, an issue like this would come under the heading of quality control. 2. Fidelity to path: Of the 5 paths available for guitar, I signed up for Folk Music. Although I appreciate the idea of sending extra lessons to promote increasing the student’s repertoire, I wish that Fender would either send only material that is consistent with my chosen path, or at least give the student the option of choosing additional material from whichever other path(s) the student might prefer. Quality control. I definitely don’t want rock music. I actually find this ‘pushy’ and discouraging. 3. Fidelity to instrument: I signed up for acoustic guitar lessons. The instruments used by the instructors on my path (not to mention the extra materials) are sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric (strat, tele, etc.). Again, for the sake of the sound I want to hear and get good at, could I have acoustic guitar lessons wherein the instructor is playing an acoustic guitar? Quality control..Version: 2.20.3

Great step by step learningGreat and interactive learning that keeps you interested and looking forward to the next step. Easy to follow. And the instructors come across very likeable..Version: 2.19.0

Needs an Apple TV appWe would love it if you could develop and release an Apple TV app! The lessons and layout are straight-forward and the subscription delivers everything that it promises to however whenever attempting to AirPlay to Apple TV, the progress bar, play/pause, 30 sec scroll and other on-screen controls are displayed on the TV as well as on the iPhone. When AirPlay gets cancelled reverting back to the iPhone, the on-screen controls disappear with no issue and there is no more visual distraction. By forcing the unnecessary on-screen controls, it obscures the lessons and makes for a discouraging experience for those with visual impairments. We were excited to subscribe and get to learning something new as a family event however crowding around an iPhone display isn’t the greatest experience and makes it more isolating for members of the household due to visual impairment or not being able to have more than one person in on a lesson. Fix this and five stars would be well-earned..Version: 2.20.1

Fantastic AppI have attempted to play guitar numerous time over the last 25 years or so and have made more progress in a week than I have in all other previous attempts. Well worth the subscription cost..Version: 2.19.0

I love FenderWoW.Version: 2.19.0

Simply: AmazingBravo to the team at Fender for an amazing app. The app is an 11/10. Not only are the lessons small and easily digestible, the instructors provide clear instructions. After only a month of about an hour a day, I am beyond pleased with the gains I’ve made. Hey, my goal is to one day play Rush and do justice to Alex Lifeson’s catalogue... As much as I love the app, there is one thing missing - and it isn’t with the app itself. All that’s missing is an AppleTV version..Version: 2.19.0

Learning ukulele at 23 :)This app honestly is making the process so nice and fun.Version: 2.19.0
