Plant Identifier, Care: Planty App Comments & Reviews

Plant Identifier, Care: Planty Positive Reviews

There’s a lot to like with PlantyPROS: 1. FREE - and doesn’t bug you to buy premium in order for it to work. 2. Doesn’t try to trick you into a free trial 3. Plant id via camera/photos works better than any of the other plant ID apps I’ve used in the past 4. Superbly designed - the Pet Toxicity banner in the plant’s profile is really helpful 5. Clean UX - (one thing i would modify is that it can be a bit tricky to go “back” once you want to add a plant but don’t necessarily have time to take or upload a photo of the plant. I do wish we could add the plant and either use a default photo of the plant, or skip the photo to initially add it, and then return to it later.) 6. I can see the direction this app is headed and think it has the most potential 7. It’s just dang cheerful CONS: 1. Sometimes the information about the plant species is incomplete. 2. Occasionally, a plant will have a duplicate in the database with less/different/conflicting information so it can be slightly confusing. 3. Wish there was a way to toggle the information on each plant’s profile for care information. For example, see temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit. 4. Information - Again, just wish there was more consistency to the info and also some of the plant care information looks like it was limited to a certain number of characters/text. It cuts off midway through and can be frustrating..Version: 1.1.15

LOVE THIS APP!!!!<3This app is Amazing it gives you notifications when you need to water your plants I'm really bad at remembering when I need to water my plants I've killed so many plants this makes me stop killing plants and it's amazing you can add plants into this little place called your garden and it gives you notification and it tells you more stuff about it it identifies different plants she can go around and you can see this one Clayton and you're like what is that plant and it'll tell you what plant today's it's mostly always right and you can't even name your plants because if you didn't now I like the name my plants and I think they stick to its overall just a great app and I definitely recommend it especially if you're starting to lean plants I am a huge plant mom I love plants and it's amazing.Version: 1.1.5

Newbie Plant LoverHi, I’m new to getting into plants, therefore I have no clue what I’m doing. I have been gifted plants at my workplace and home and I have found this app helpful into learning about them and how I can take care of them. The reminders for watering also helps a lot with me being new. I have enjoyed it so far and I hope to get more plants for myself, I will continue to use the app. I also like that you can name your plants. I found that pretty enjoyable. I would like to have this app be able to use the dark mode though, but that’s a very small thing I’d like to have improvements..Version: 1.2.1

Only partially satisfiedAs a tentative and frequently unsuccessful plant owner, I wanted to be able to identify, catalogue and set a watering/plant food schedule to hopefully help my plants thrive. I thought this app sounded perfect— free, user-friendly and informative. It is only useful for plants with which I’m already familiar though. The Planty photo identifier feature did not recognize/identify any of my plants. I tried taking a photo of each plant directly through the app and I tried uploading photos to the app. NOPE! Message received: “Hmmm, looks like we’ll have to get our plant detectives on this” and then just searching, searching, searching and never identifying. Then it offers me the chance to scan through its long list of catalogued plants many that look similar due to the tiny pictures. That’s not helpful because the whole point is I need assistance figuring out what some of the plants are and the best way to care for them. Le sigh. . . 🥺.Version: 1.0.1

Great App but Support is not easily found on the appI really like the app and it keeps me on target for when to water my plants because I never can remember when I watered what plant and when. However, my app shows notifications but have no clue where to find what the notifications are referring too. There is no place to contact support to ask questions about the app. Bugs me that my app shows I have 2 notifications but I have no idea what it’s referring too. I’ve clicked on the “?” Mark and it tells me to “finish setting up my mail setup”. But that’s all it says and doesn’t regret me to anywhere. I have gone to my email accounts and have not received any notifications there so I have no idea what it’s talking about. Basically, it’s a good app for just basic needs but lacks in way of support when things go awry with the app..Version: 1.2.1

Good App, More Features Would Be BetterPlanty is a great app, and very easy to use and setup. However, for a paid app it should offer a bit more in the way of tracking and customizing. At the very least there should be a way to update the photo of your plant without deleting the plant from your garden and starting over again. Even if it didn’t keep the old photo logged, updating the picture as your plant grows would be nice. Some more features like adding your own notes to a plant (to track repotting, fertilizers, etc) would be great. Great app for what it currently does, but with a paid option it should really be able to offer more customization..Version: 1.7.5

This app is good, but….It would be nice if we could update plant photos, maybe keep a timeline of growth, and most importantly, it would be nice to be able to update conditions such as when the plant was repotted, and how often watered. Right now the features are extremely limited. One photo per plant, cannot change the watering schedule, and really the only thing that can be done is to take a pic of the plant, and maintain the watering schedule. I guess for $40 a year, it would be nice to have better features. Not entirely sure it’s worth $40 a year as it stands. Definitely a lot of room for improvement. Three stars cuz I appreciate that it lets me know how often my plants need water, but outside that, it’s probably a 1.5/2 star app at best..Version: 1.6.9

So far so AWESOMEI’m really good at killing houseplants. Like, really good. Got this app after looking at so many other apps that were $50-$70 a year! Over the last few weeks I’ve done a few trials and deleted even more apps that tried to get me to pay before the trial. Don’t know why I didn’t see Planty before today, but after reading so many wonderful reviews I downloaded it. Started cataloging my houseplants right away. It lets you name each plant with a celebrity name. I’ve said hi to Vera Wang 3x already :) More important - it works exactly as it says it does. Planty is fantastic. Thank you!.Version: 1.2.3

Almost there…So I think this is a pretty aesthetically cute app. I love that it measures the your light sources. I didn’t really like that you had to add the plant, name it, create watering schedule and measure the plants light source before it even told what kind of plant it was. Also, even though I love the fonts and graphics, they are a bit off. Some words and questions were cut off from either the top or side. I will probably check on this app again in the future and hope that there are improvements. It’s not quite good enough yet to get me to subscribe. I think the price is a bit too high for an app with so many issues..Version: 1.7.1

Useful plant identification features & free 😍I’ve just downloaded the app and started adding my plants using plant identification feature and so far it’s seems pretty user friendly and it’s completely free 😍 (yep, hard to believe:) it provides all the plant care info and also lets you set up a reminder for plant water tracking which is enough for my need. Would be better if they can improve the speed of plant identifier but at least it’s free, so can’t complain much ☺️I can see myself using this app for my house plants 🪴 so wouldnt kill another one 🙈.Version: 1.0.1

WowI’m that person that can kill an artificial plant! Last spring when my neighbor gave me this beautiful, 5 foot tall corn plant she assured me that even I could not kill it because it’s very low maintenance and was a great indoor plant for somebody like me that has a brown thumb! I’ve kept alive through the summer and the fall, and then winter came and my poor plant took a turn for the worse! I’ve been doing everything I can for it to keep it alive… this app just told me what’s wrong with it what I need to do to it! This app is amazing❤️🪴.Version: 1.6.5

InformationalGreat app. Easy to use and provides a lot of info just by taking a photo and you can make a garden list to keep on hand as a reference. Has helped me to care for my current plants I have now, as before I had no clue what planets needed other then water. I seen a change in my plants now that I have knowledge how to care for them. For examples, some I watered too much and some not getting enough natural light. Don’t have to watch my plants die now, lol. Thumbs up! Not afraid for future plant buying..Version: 1.1.15

Good so farWonderful app just started to use it. I love plants but have trouble keeping them alive. Downloaded many apps, then found out all wanted money. So I asked for free app and came across this one. It is easy and straight to the point. Took picture of my plant my daughter received from one of her students. 1,2,3. I was finished. The app had me to name the plant, named it after my daughter, let me know the name of the plant and how much sunshine it needs and water. And it has a reminder Incase I'm busy. Thank you.😊.Version: 1.2.1

Lovely app, just needs a larger databaseI have absolutely loved using this zen app. The interface is lovely, the experience is relaxing and makes me look forward even more each day. It helps me keep track of watering schedules and has a space for naming plants, along with other features that enhance the experience. The only thing is that I wish they had a larger database (especially for succulents) because I can’t add some of my plants, as they are not in the database..Version: 1.0.1

Exactly what I was hoping for! This app has a great user interface, guides you through the process of setting up your garden, it’s very customizable, provides helpful information about your plants, and it’s totally free! I love it! I love plants and really want to keep growing my collection, but I have trouble remembering to water enough… so I’m really excited about having this app to help keep track of caring for them! Thanks to the dev team for a great app!.Version: 1.2.1

Love this app!I was never really into plant care until recently. I moved into a beautiful home surrounded by all different kinds of interesting plants. I tried basic care, but, I felt out of my element. I had no idea the names of the plants I was caring for and trying to keep alive. This app has been the biggest help in correctly identifying the plants and tips on care. The plants around my home are thriving and I get compliments daily by anyone who walks by..Version: 1.1.3

I love it buuttt… a suggestion..I don’t know if it’s a new update but when I can’t find my specific plant off of just the picture & I put in the exact name of the plant, I can’t change the picture to my actually plant. I can edit their names but it only shows a generic photo of the plant. It’s such a simple thing that I’m talking about & I can get over it but it would be nice to have that option. Sometimes the readings are %100 percent accurate from the photo … for instance when I try to Identify my Rabbit Foot Fern it says “Hares Foot Fern”. It’s ok. I get it, there are crap load of different varieties but at least if I have to look up the exact one let me put my picture of my actual plant & not a generic one the app has. Other than that, I am IN LOVE with this app. I have so many plants & it helps me keep track of there detailed care..Version: 1.8.1

Instantly works with great accuracyI just installed this app and literally within the first minute I was able to identify a blue Italian cypress that my wife bought for me from Trader Joe’s has a Christmas table decoration 10 years ago. After the holiday my wife planted outside beside our deck and now it is 10 feet tall. But we never really knew what it was until just today thank you so much for developing this app to allow us to do this!.Version: 1.1.15

Please remove the needless 5 second waitBetween ticking off each item as watered, you have to wait for a five second animation of that item filling up with water before you can proceed to the next item. Sometimes I will go outside and just water five things really quickly. I'd like to just go back to the app and tap five times to tick them off and move on with my day, instead I have to stop and wait for the silly animation to complete for every plant..Version: 1.7.1

Thank youI so appreciate your service. I was fairly sure of the plant I wanted to identify, but good to get an expert opinion. I do not have the funds to pay for an ap. It took some time to find you, but once I did, I am more than pleased. Your ap is straight forward, easy to follow, rapid in response. I am very pleased with the help you provide. I will be passing the good news about this ap to friends and neighbors..Version: 1.3.1

Pignut hickory identificationThat was really quick! I feel like the place looks so different when they’re babies and it’s so hard for me to tell. Especially when they have three leaves and I start freaking out because I think it’s something poisonous. Thank you for helping me figure out that a squirrel just planted a nut in with my herbs and it’s not a poisonous thing I have to worry about! Thank you!.Version: 1.1.15

Great experience!I love this app way more than any of the others I’ve tried! It’s cute and I can have ALL my plants identified and on a watering schedule for free, not just a couple. It’s also been wonderful to have the identification feature to check if my outdoor plants have a chance of being harmful and how to take care of them if I want to keep the native species going in my yard..Version: 1.1.5

Plant grower beginnerPlant grower beginner and choose this app because it was better than paying $30 a year for almost all the other apps. I try to keep it simple with life only caz I never know what will be the next crisis and money is more precious than ever. So this app so far makes more sense and easy to use. I love what I’ve seen so far. Thank you for a breathe of fresh air and no pressure..Version: 1.2.3

Great InfoI planted some mixed flowers over the Summer and they started growing, but hard to tell what was what as I no longer can find the packaging. 2 of the plants stuck out and I thought they were pretty… but I had no idea if they were a weed or an actual flower. Using this app I now know they are Sunflowers 🌻this app made my day 😊 Now to find out what else is growing in my flowerbed 💐.Version: 1.1.15

That workedAt first I was concerned that it wasn’t going to do what I wanted it to do. Which was to identify plants and I’m still not sure. This one is a domesticated plant so not a good test. I know it can do that . I am more interested in wildflower and tree identification, so I’ll wait to give my final evaluation. For today, that was very helpful! I have been trying to remember what that plant was called!🫢🫶🏼.Version: 1.1.15

Christmas CactusMy Christmas Cactus gets tiny red appearing to want to bloom, but should I keep watering it or place it for a number of months away in a closet (or a dark place) Until next fall? Please advise!!!!!! I have also Given it some coffee grounds in the past few months! It was blooming when I bought it from a nursery several months ago!.Version: 1.6.5

My garden appThe app is very informative and helpful. It seems a bit hard to work the app and no instructions on how to operate it. I have been scrolling through flower directory until I find the plant I’m looking for. I can’t take a picture and it be identified immediately as some apps do. All new to me but still trying to manage and learn it..Version: 1.1.15

So Happy togetherI am so excited to have been told about this app. I am in love with this. I had no idea what plant I had but someone told me how to find out and WOW I have been able to learn so much more then just the name of this plant and now I believe I will be able to keep a plant alive for the first time ever! Thank you for creating this, it’s simply genius..Version: 1.2.1

Apps OkayI like that I can identify all my plants and name them. Just make sure you have them in good light or the identification might be incorrect (which happened to me). But I can’t for the life of me get the light meter to work. All my plants it says are in the dark - which they are not. I’ve clicked, moved and even put in direct sunlight and nothing changes. Wish there were instructions. This is basically why I wanted this app - got identification and lighting. Oh well..Version: 1.2.1

Great but needs some updatesThis is a free app, so my comments are not necessarily complaints LOL I LOVE the interface and design, it’s super cute, and I love the watering reminders BUT I do not see where you can identify diseases or check for lighting. This might be something they are working on, but it shouldn’t be in the description if it’s not actually on the app. Please let me know if this is in the works or if I am just missing it. Also look forward to there being a larger plant inventory, which I know takes time. Would you like us to email support with plant name requests to add to the inventory? Thank you for any feedback. You’ve done a great job so far, but I know it takes time to develop everything at once!.Version: 1.1.3

New plantI got a new plant and didn’t know the name. So I downloaded a couple of these apps that help you identify your plant and none of them gave me the right answer until I used Planty and it told me right away that it was ‘Giraffe’s Neck’ and exactly what to do with it. So from personal experience, definitely one of the best plant care apps out there!.Version: 1.5.9

So far, so good, but sometimes, it isn’t right!I’m delighted with the app. I’ve tried several others and I haven’t been able to really like and enjoy as much as this one. But sometimes, when I take a pic in the app, it gives me a different plant identification. Maybe the database it’s not vast. I would say please work on that for accuracy. Otherwise, I’m enjoy it! Thank you! ❤️✌🏽☀️.Version: 1.1.5

EffortlessWith this I’m going to wow my wife!.Version: 1.11.1

GreatJust got started! Good so far!.Version: 1.3.1

Love this appThat’s all!.Version: 1.7.1

🥕🥑👍yay!!The is good.Version: 1.7.1

Issues with NotificationsI like the app but I don’t understand how notifications work. Do they come up at a certain time of day or is there a way to edit this? I have to physically open the app to see when to water my plants but I’d rather it actually notify me. Notifications are turned on in my settings on my phone but I don’t get any from the app itself..Version: 1.7.1

Love it.Very good app so far!!.Version: 1.6.1
