There’s a lot to like with PlantyPROS: 1. FREE - and doesn’t bug you to buy premium in order for it to work. 2. Doesn’t try to trick you into a free trial 3. Plant id via camera/photos works better than any of the other plant ID apps I’ve used in the past 4. Superbly designed - the Pet Toxicity banner in the plant’s profile is really helpful 5. Clean UX - (one thing i would modify is that it can be a bit tricky to go “back” once you want to add a plant but don’t necessarily have time to take or upload a photo of the plant. I do wish we could add the plant and either use a default photo of the plant, or skip the photo to initially add it, and then return to it later.) 6. I can see the direction this app is headed and think it has the most potential 7. It’s just dang cheerful CONS: 1. Sometimes the information about the plant species is incomplete. 2. Occasionally, a plant will have a duplicate in the database with less/different/conflicting information so it can be slightly confusing. 3. Wish there was a way to toggle the information on each plant’s profile for care information. For example, see temperatures in Celsius or Fahrenheit. 4. Information - Again, just wish there was more consistency to the info and also some of the plant care information looks like it was limited to a certain number of characters/text. Newbie Plant LoverHi, I’m new to getting into plants, therefore I have no clue what I’m doing. I have been gifted plants at my workplace and home and I have found this app helpful into learning about them and how I can take care of them. The reminders for watering also helps a lot with me being new. Only partially satisfiedAs a tentative and frequently unsuccessful plant owner, I wanted to be able to identify, catalogue and set a watering/plant food schedule to hopefully help my plants thrive. I thought this app sounded perfect— free, user-friendly and informative. It is only useful for plants with which I’m already familiar though. The Planty photo identifier feature did not recognize/identify any of my plants. I tried taking a photo of each plant directly through the app and I tried uploading photos to the app. NOPE! Message received: “Hmmm, looks like we’ll have to get our plant detectives on this” and then just searching, searching, searching and never identifying. Then it offers me the chance to scan through its long list of catalogued plants many that look similar due to the tiny pictures. That’s not helpful because the whole point is I need assistance figuring out what some of the plants are and the best way to care for them. Le sigh. . . 🥺.Le Sigh. . .Version: 1.0.1

Great App but Support is not easily found on the appI really like the app and it keeps me on target for when to water my plants because I never can remember when I watered what plant and when. However, my app shows notifications but have no clue where to find what the notifications are referring too. There is no place to contact support to ask questions about the app. Bugs me that my app shows I have 2 notifications but I have no idea what it’s referring too. I’ve clicked on the “?” Mark and it tells me to “finish setting up my mail setup”. But that’s all it says and doesn’t regret me to anywhere. I have gone to my email accounts and have not received any notifications there so I have no idea what it’s talking about. Good App, More Features Would Be BetterPlanty is a great app, and very easy to use and setup. However, for a paid app it should offer a bit more in the way of tracking and customizing. At the very least there should be a way to update the photo of your plant without deleting the plant from your garden and starting over again. Even if it didn’t keep the old photo logged, updating the picture as your plant grows would be nice. Some more features like adding your own notes to a plant (to track repotting, fertilizers, etc) would be great. This app is good, but….It would be nice if we could update plant photos, maybe keep a timeline of growth, and most importantly, it would be nice to be able to update conditions such as when the plant was repotted, and how often watered. Right now the features are extremely limited. One photo per plant, cannot change the watering schedule, and really the only thing that can be done is to take a pic of the plant, and maintain the watering schedule. I guess for $40 a year, it would be nice to have better features. Not entirely sure it’s worth $40 a year as it stands. Definitely a lot of room for improvement. So far so AWESOMEI’m really good at killing houseplants. Like, really good. Got this app after looking at so many other apps that were $50-$70 a year! Over the last few weeks I’ve done a few trials and deleted even more apps that tried to get me to pay before the trial. Almost there…So I think this is a pretty aesthetically cute app. I love that it measures the your light sources. I didn’t really like that you had to add the plant, name it, create watering schedule and measure the plants light source before it even told what kind of plant it was. Also, even though I love the fonts and graphics, they are a bit off. Some words and questions were cut off from either the top or side. I will probably check on this app again in the future and hope that there are improvements. It’s not quite good enough yet to get me to subscribe. Useful plant identification features & free 😍I’ve just downloaded the app and started adding my plants using plant identification feature and so far it’s seems pretty user friendly and it’s completely free 😍 (yep, hard to believe:) it provides all the plant care info and also lets you set up a reminder for plant water tracking which is enough for my need. WowI’m that person that can kill an artificial plant! Last spring when my neighbor gave me this beautiful, 5 foot tall corn plant she assured me that even I could not kill it because it’s very low maintenance and was a great indoor plant for somebody like me that has a brown thumb! InformationalGreat app. Easy to use and provides a lot of info just by taking a photo and you can make a garden list to keep on hand as a reference. Love this app!I was never really into plant care until recently. I moved into a beautiful home surrounded by all different kinds of interesting plants. I tried basic care, but, I felt out of my element. I had no idea the names of the plants I was caring for and trying to keep alive. I love it buuttt… a suggestion..I don’t know if it’s a new update but when I can’t find my specific plant off of just the picture & I put in the exact name of the plant, I can’t change the picture to my actually plant. I can edit their names but it only shows a generic photo of the plant. It’s such a simple thing that I’m talking about & I can get over it but it would be nice to have that option. Apps OkayI like that I can identify all my plants and name them. Just make sure you have them in good light or the identification might be incorrect (which happened to me). But I can’t for the life of me get the light meter to work. All my plants it says are in the dark - which they are not. I’ve clicked, moved and even put in direct sunlight and nothing changes. Worked for two days then stoppedI purchase the yearly subscription and it worked for one day then all of my plants that I entered into the app disappeared from My Garden list. The first time this happened all of my plants reappeared in My Garden list. That was short live because two days later the same thing happened and this time it didn’t reappear like it did previous. I keep getting an error message that says “Ups we have an connection error” and nothing from My Garden section of app appears. I tried to start all over again but can’t. I keep getting the previous mentioned error message. I waited my $40 something dollars for this. Sent message to app designer and waiting for some type of response..NthahousVersion: 1.6.5

YikesI don't know what has changed since that review from May 25 but I am getting CONSTANT pop ups for the premium version and it basically doesn't do anything without it. The photo tool is extremely awkward. It gives you a portrait style frame to center your plant in but the resulting photo is in landscape and not even centered correctly. The identifier is just straight up wrong for nearly every plant I tried, but it would seem that using their identifier to add plants to your garden is the only available free option. Any time I tried to simply search the names I already know for my plants to add them to "my garden", it gave me the premium ad. It didn't say that feature was premium only; it just kept directing me to the ad and refusing to add my plants until I figured out it was a premium feature. So in summary, the only way to use the free version is to let the app misidentify your plants based on a picture that is impossible to take correctly. Glitches & CostsI don’t recommend if you’re not willing to pay. It revolves around you paying for the subscription. I was trying to upload a picture of my plant. You only get one plant on your list with out paying. It was freezing and glitching so I closed and opened it back up and tried to add my plant again and said I had already added it. They gave him the name matt Damon and I didn’t getting to see any of the other steps in the process so I deleted my plant so I could try again and be able to do the steps. I did that, and now I cannot use the app at all with out paying. Can’t even add my one freaking plant. It keeps crashing and losing all my Data..So I really like this app. I even liked it so much that I paid the $40 a year subscription. Pay to useI cannot even access pictures of my cactus plants now that they are charging to use the app. I used the pictures to track growth. I could see charging you add new ones, but at the very least show support to the users that have been using the app early on and let them access their plant info. Bait and switchDownloaded the app which it says is free to identify some plants which it did well, but all have a sudden I start receiving notices for a 6.99 charge on a weekly basis from my account. nowhere on the title page, on the description of the app or in the details does it say free trial and we automatically start billing on a weekly basis. To me that’s deceptive, shady and not something I would want. If you delete the application you also have to go into you Subscriptions section of your phone and cancel it there. Then today I went to check my plants that needed to be watered, and all of my plants were locked and when I tried to see them, it said I needed premium. I downloaded the app and made sure it could access my camera, but when I go to add a plant, the “snap you plant” screen is just black with no functionality. “Free” version isn’t worth itI always try a free version of apps first to get an idea of how well the app suits my needs and how often I will use it. I understand limited features but this is so limited it’s a waste of time to try it. I uploaded one plant and couldn’t get the app to do anything else without upgrading to premium. The premium trial is only good for 3 days which isn’t enough time to see how well the app works since the watering reminder will be in 5 days. The free version is worthless. I’ve used this a few yearsWhen I first discovered this app it was great and really helped me identify poisonous plants around my house and helped me keep track of of the watering schedule for my plants. Love hate relationshipI have been using planty for months and loved it, but all of a sudden I can no longer view my any of my plants information because the app changed everything to premium and now I have to pay. This app took away all of my plants past data and now I can no longer access them. This honestly hurts me emotionally, these plants are my babies and now, all of their info gone just like that 🫰. Does not recognize all types of plantsI have a holy basil plant at home and this app could not identify it. Kept on saying I have a moringa plant. I tried searching for holy basil but it wasn’t even listed on there. Please update the app to recognize plants that are grown in other countries and how to care for them. Missing basic plantsFirst plant I tried to add it misidentified. Then I tried to manually look up the plant, but it seems they don’t even have it in their library. It’s a pretty common coffee plant (coffea arabica) so pretty strange they don’t have it. Edit: After testing some more plants, it only got 2/6 correct.
