American Mensa Brain Test App Comments & Reviews

American Mensa Brain Test Positive Reviews

The point of itI actually like the fact that the correct solutions are not shown or explained or even indicated in your answers. I am aware of the questions that I do not have a correct answers for. I guess that what makes us different is the ability to recognize the patterns and extrapolate. The language portion is pretty easy and English is not my first language..Version: 1.3.1

Graduate Student - MathI should mention something to those who criticize this as "not a valid IQ test." You're right, and it's not meant to be. It's meant to be a fun logic puzzle game, which allows you to practice verbal, spatial, and quantitative reasoning in a way that does not give anyone an unfair advantage when actually taking an official IQ test, such as the Mensa entrance test. This is why they call it "brain test," rather than "IQ test." Just have fun trying to figure everything out, and see how high up on the score board you can get. Try to find new efficient methods to solve problems that you already know the answers to if you figure everything out (btw, it is incredibly time consuming to figure out every answer, so that is a challenge, in and of itself.) Just have fun, and always take an imperfect score as a positive experience, as it allows you to discover new ways to improve your logical reasoning..Version: 1.3.0

AAAARRRRRRGH!Great app except for the same complaint everyone else has: it won't show you what you got wrong or an answer key so can learn how to solve a type of question. So incredibly frustrating. I can save the screen on my phone and go back and solve it later at my own pace, but it would be nice to have a solution guide. I hope the developers read the same criticism over and over from different folks and take heed!.Version: 1.3.0

Please let me see what questions I answered incorrectly!!How can one learn when you don't have a clue which questions you answered correctly and which ones you did not answer correctly?? It's useless. The pre-test questions let you see the answers - and I love the "Why" option - I've learned a lot. I would give it five stars but I can't do that..Version: 1.3.0

Better use of time than the average gameAnswers to what I got wrong would be nice. However, then they would have to add more questions......Version: 1.3.0

Brain games.I really enjoy the tests but wish you would show the correct answers after the tests and explain them so we could understand what we did wrong ..Version: 1.3.1

I wish they have option for culture fair testAs a none English native speaker I found it’s difficult to answer vocabulary questions. I know Mensa USA has option to take cultural fair test (meaning no vocabulary question), and I wish this app has the settings where user can configure it to cultural fair or not..Version: 1.3.1

Good but needs workThe app is good and worth getting but there are some aggravating features about it. 1. Practice test repeated same question very very often. 2. Because of number 1 it makes you want to just practice with real tests but the real tests offer no summary like the practice tests do. So you have no way to find out which questions you got wrong and no "why" button so you can learn what you did wrong. Because of the above the app ends up being less useful than I was hoping. Hope they can adjust these problems..Version: 1.3.0

GoodWish it had more questions so that the test wouldn't become repetitive.Version: 1.3.0

Pretty goodEntertaining for sure. 2 things could improve app: 1. An explanation of the correct answer on a wrong selection - but space in the app probably makes that impossible. 2. The'Training' is irrelevant. Each actual test has approx 15% - 20% word problems; each training test has approx 80% word problems. There are not enough updates - take a test every day or two and very soon it is mostly the same questions repeating themselves..Version: 1.2.3

I love this App! Worth the cost!I play this app all the time. Although it is a little pricey it is fun..Version: 1.3.1

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!OUTSTANDING App!!!! I will buy any educational app you develop. This app is PERFECTION And has become my very favorite app (and I have a 128-GB iPad filled with apps). Thank you!!! I am learning a ton!!!!.Version: 1.3.0

A good brain stimulator and aggravator.I hope they continue development with new content. It called me a bright spark <3.Version: 1.3.0

Needs iOS updates version... for the 64 bit architecture coming in iOS 11..Version: 1.3.0

Please update your app for 64-bitYour app is no longer supported in iOS 11. Please update your app..Version: 1.3.0

FunGood waste of 20mins.Version: 1.3.1

Attorney/authorFantastic!.Version: 1.3.0

Nice concept, but could use improvementThere are not enough questions to choose from. I keep seeing the same questions from previous tests reappearing. Ideally, there should be so many questions that the chance of that happening would be very slim. The training mode allows you to see which questions you got wrong at the end and offers a "why" button on the upper right to give an explanation. The actual tests do not. I wish the actual tests also had this feature. A few of the questions seem to be testing on knowledge rather than reasoning. For example, there was a question asking how many degrees are in an angle of an octagon. Although you could hypothetically figure that out with reasoning alone, that question would be biased in favor of someone who actually learned that recently. Also, some of the questions can be solved using equations that we learned in middle school but may have forgotten by now. I also would not recommend this test to non-native English speakers because they may not know some of the vocabulary words in the verbal portion of the test (and they will lose time looking it up)..Version: 1.1.0

Love it!!!This app has helped access brain cells I forgot I had! It's been a few years since school and am hoping to take their written exam in the future, but I definitely needed to jolt up there to get back into processing information in this fashion. The questions are limited but it's more about knowing how to get the answer not remember the answer cause it's already cycled through. Thank you MENSA for offering this app for those of us that need just a little bit of brain boost!.Version: 1.1.0

Awesome!I purchased this app after receiving a letter in the mail. Because I am not yet old enough to be graded on the test, this is great practice for me! It would be better if on the tests you could go and see what you did wrong. Also new questions. I run into the same ones all the time and it isn't as mentally stimulating as it could be. But overall, definitely a great buy! Totally worth the price..Version: 1.1.0

Fun and challengingI'd like to understand how the results rank as far as acceptance into Mensa. Also, I wish there was some way to know which test answers I failed and why. That is a great learning tool on training, but not available on the test. And it seems there are not enough numbers questions on the training to get me clicked in to what the math relationship questions are looking for..Version: 1.1.0

Nicely done, but needs answers.Like the other reviews, I agree that you should see the answers to the test afterwards. I also hope some updates give new questions as I rans into the same questions doing the short and medium test. I'm sure I would see a lot of duplicates if I now did the long version. Nice work for V1.0.Version: 0

Worth itThere are a few issues with this app in regards to repeat questions(as in it happens a lot), however I think it should be easily fixed in future updates. So I recommend this app for daily practice, with the assumption that they will address the issue in an update. Hopefully soon..Version: 1.2.1

Nice app, could use a little more refinementIt would be nice if the actual test section had a review of you results and provided an explanation of the answer like the training portion, or expand the variety of the questions in training portion to better reflect those in the test..Version: 1.1.0

A Measure of the MindFor gym enthusiasts, it's bench press weight. For puzzle fiends, it's an IQ test. Obviously you can train your brain - go get puzzle books & practice problem solving; but don't complain when you don't get answers for the IQ test in this app - you're not supposed to cheat the system, nor do you need to..Version: 1.2.3

NeurotrophicI think it's very challenging but I'd love to see the Why? Feature Available after every test to figure out what I got right/wrong. Also how the IQ is calculated. Those math problems give me Sudoko flashbacks and I've no idea if I've come close but overall it definitely grows yer brain..Version: 1.1.0

Fun app. Some good puzzles. And the scoring at the end is suggestive of an IQ score, so it's suspenseful seeing how your score adds up. I only did the short test version and after three game started seeing repeat questions. Not bad in itself, but sort of undermines the notion that it's like an IQ test. Still, a fun way to keep your mind nimble..Version: 1.1.0

Repetitive trainingThe training mode asks the same questions constantly and does not prepare the user for the testing mode. I find this disappointing. You also cannot see which questions you were correct or incorrect on and no solution is offered. I like the idea of this app but if needs improvement..Version: 1.2.3

It has been a while...I took this app for granted, thinking I remembered how to answer these questions. The questions are all easy... of sophomore high school or lower level. However, it is as if I rode a bike after a prolonged hiatus. It is coming back. Although, it seems I am a victim of too much immersion into the madding crowd..Version: 1.1.0

Great idea, but needs more...The idea behind this app is great. But it needs a couple of things. Please put in answer key; show me what I got wrong. Also, it needs more practice questions; I keep running into the same question. After those two things are added, I will change to a 5 Star rating..Version: 0

The standardized test you can inflict on yourself/enjoy whenever you likeTraining mode gets old FAST, but the longer tests (while I've only played through the short ones so far) suffer from way less repetition (though still a noticeable amount)..Version: 1.1.0

Cool AppI dunno if it's an official Mensa test, but the questions get easier with practice. I score 150 on the tests on my bad days. Seems a little too easy. Really interesting challenge until you get used to it..Version: 1.1.0

GREAT APP!If you love math, sequences, and problem solving, this is a great app for you! I hurt my ankle and held down the couch for weeks, and this was my favourite app for killing time in a stimulating way. In the short training exercises, the answers are supplied, which has been helpful in preparing for the main tests. It is unfortunate you cannot access answers for the main tests also. I was able to gradually increase my scores by writing out the problems that I couldn't solve on scrap paper. I could then try to solve them on my own time..Version: 1.2.1

Very well done!Just beautiful..Version: 1.3.1

Marty D.This seems to really be based on Mensa questions. It doesn't hold your hand or mollycoddle you. You will never see the answers or any hints. It's an honest way to find your true IQ. The questions are random and, although you can repeat the test over, you won't always get the same ones. They have a warehouse full. Your score can go up or down each time you take it. My hint: once you take it several times, your IQ will go up! It's absolutely excellent !.Version: 1.3.0

Answers aren't rightSome answers I know are right but it says are wrong. Wish there was more questions too..Version: 1.3.0

Tough, but funIt's not an impossible set of tests, and it is rewarding when you do answer them. There will be quite a few 'ah ha' moments as you discover the patterns. The training feature does grease the wheels a little bit before you jump into the full tests. It is worth completing a few of those before beginning. I definitely plan on using this App plenty if times..Version: 1.3.0

Challenging and ever changing!I enjoy how the questions are always different!.Version: 1.2.1

Good stuffGood quiz, but it should have more questions in it. If you do the three tests, you will surely see some questions more than once. As for accuracy, it states pretty much the same number than other good tests..Version: 1.2.3

Decent appGood fun. Initially more useful before memorization starts to kick in. Learning how to apply the same logic or thought process in other ways seems to be vastly more useful though..Version: 1.1.0

Needs more questionsNeeds more questions, and answers as to how questions are solved.Version: 1.2.3

Good reference point...Having joined Mensa, there was still no number value assigned... pretty much because few people in the organization care. However, I had specific reasons for wanting to know. This app in particular provided numbers I could trust. I can verify that the questions are typical of ones you might find on the official entry exams. Of course, any one test is not a perfect measure. Be sure to try the short, medium AND long versions of the test. My feeling is that 3 attempts at each one, taken over a period of a couple of months, then averaging all the results, will give you the best idea. And hey... if you score 130 or higher on this, take the official test and maybe we'll see you at an event! :) The one thing the app doesn't do that the official testing does, is allow for people who's first language isn't English. If it did, 5 stars..Version: 1.2.3

Good appReally like this.Version: 1.1.0

Fun AppFun App.Version: 1.2.3

MensaTrès bon.stimulant et distrayant.Version: 1.2.3

Fun!Fun!Fun!Great way to keep your brain active and so much fun!.Version: 1.2.1

Brain challengeWould be better if you can see which answers are wrong and the right answers. Still, fun and challenging!.Version: 1.2.1

GreatGood questions.Version: 1.2.0

Good Tests, Would Like More FeaturesThe tests are true to Mensa but the app is really basic. Would love more interactive tools.Version: 1.1.0

Decent testFun and challenging, but eventually becomes repetitive..Version: 1.1.0

Awesome app! This is great! Now i dont have to worry about a test!!.Version: 1.1.0

MensaChallenging !!! But god brain work out.Version: 1.1.0

Awesome test.Great test. Must have a different way of thinking..Version: 1.1.0

Great app - well worth the priceAlthough questions do repeat after some time, the level and variety are perfect. It's what you would expect from a mensa book turned app that costs only a buck..Version: 1.1.0

EnjoyableFun and challenging. It could use more variety in the training questions though..Version: 1.1.0

Good waste of timeEnjoyable and challenging, could benefit from larger question pool. No buyers remorse for me..Version: 1.1.0

Mensa brain testNot bad..Version: 1.1.0

Great ap!Keeps me on my toes while keeping my mind sharp! Love it!.Version: 0
