Au moins à l´égal du Monde (Le Monde) en France pour son sérieux, The New York Times est non seulement un journal de nouvelles fiables, vérifiées et d'analyses de fond sérieuses, mais c'est aussi tout un ensemble de services associés qui rendent l'ensemble très complet (notamment articles audio) et qui en font un grand média d'information. L'abonnement est un plaisir...

Il est incroyablement difficile de concevoir et développer une appli de qualité. Le New York Times a bien réussi son coup avec celle-ci.

Le standard mondial du journalisme, et à raison. Une application de très haut niveau et des longs formats qui réinventent la fonction de la presse.

Très bon contenu, doublé d’une app à l’ergonomie avancée. C’est top.

The best reporting experience with a variety of points of view. Some very interesting pieces of personal views in politics, social matters, education, art & litterature. And cherry on the cake : NYT Cooking, probably the main reason I eventually took my subscription and thus have access to all the above mentioned experiences. One last thing, NYT english is a real enjoyment to read for the english language loving non native speaker that I am. 😉🇫🇷

Excellent content. However there are so many images trying to load that browsing the news is a pain.

Open-mindedness, prioritization given to global issues, demanding and thorough journalism as well as strong empathetic writing end up making The New York Times the most addictive newspaper in the world.

The NYT keeps me informed of what is happening on the other side of the Atlantic in a well documented way. It’s so important for us Europeans to understand what’s happening in the USA. I am just back from my lovely opera buff biannual trip to NYC and I realized that my American friends are desperate to understand what’s happening in our world. Impossible to update app in France. I can’t read articles in my subscription. When I click on open in the app it reverts back to the update app page. Very frustrating

Great app, love the disposition of elements that kept the feeling of a journal. But please, the white background is just killing my eyes, we need a dark mode asap!

Bonjour, Je rédige aujourd’hui cet avis pour exprimer mon mécontentement concernant l’utilisation de mon abonnement New York Times. Malgré des articles intéressants à lire sur une pléthore de sujets, j’ai été incendié de mails à répétition (5 en moyenne par jour sans rire). De ce fait, j’ai voulu mettre un terme à mon abonnement, chose ayant été très fastidieuse car après de nombreux échecs de mails et d’appels téléphoniques,j’ai contacté directement mon banquier pour faire opposition et me refaire une carte bancaire. Hi, I am writing this review today to express my dissatisfaction with the use of my New York Times subscription. Despite having interesting articles to read on a plethora of subjects, I was torched with repeated emails (average 5 per day without laughing). As a result, I wanted to end my subscription, which was very tedious because after many failed emails and phone calls, I contacted my banker directly to object and redo a bank card.

A once excellent paper has become the stream-of-consciousness journal for angry, woke millennials. Highly manipulative content leaves out the important details. One example is their coverage of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, an intact male who was given permission by the University of Pennsylvania and the NCAA to join the women’s team. The Times made it seem like the only controversy was that he was taking away all the trophies but that was only half the story. He was allowed to change in the women’s locker room with the women, at least one of whom had experienced sexual assault in the past. No mention of this in the Times, they merely wrote from an angle suggesting that college sports should be more inclusive. A less divisive example is found in their coverage of workers in Ibiza not being able to find affordable housing. No mention as to why these workers want to stay on the island, when mainland Spain and three other neighbouring Balearic Islands (Formentara, Minorca and Majorca) could offer jobs and very affordable housing. Examples like these are endless. Young reporters with a political agenda don’t dig deep enough.

French below Latest update crashes regularly. I have to quickly upload articles to the Pocket app in order to be able to read a full article ! Also, still no dark mode which seems crazy in a reading app —- Depuis la dernière mise à jour, l’application plante régulièrement. Pour lire un article en entier, je suis obligé de l’exporter vers l’application Pocket. Et toujours pas de mode sombre, inexplicable pour une application médias.

Cela fait 11mois que je vous ai envoyé un mail vous demandant de cesser les prélèvements mais rien ????? Cela devient penible de se voire prélever de l’argent pour rien et sans aucune réponse de votre part

Dear Nytimes, I love you and I wish this is not something you do out of "eh let's do it". I had the notice that I had to update the app to use the app, and of course the update is only available for >=ios16, which is of course not supported by my iphone (7 and very much alive). Why should I buy a new phone to read the news? Why is this considered normal behavior? Why do I sound like a crazy person when I tell this to people? Also, what kind of revolutionary update do you offer which can't run on ios15? In what branch of the multiverse do we need ios16 to be able to read articles and look at pictures? What made you side with evil and join the punishing mandatory impossible upgrade mob? Who tricked you? Do you need help? Say the letters I-N-E-E-D-H-E-L-P and help you will readily find. Stop this nonsense, let me read the nytimes, please, please, please.

I’ve been reading the NYT since HS, during the height of the Vietnam War. This newspaper has gotten to a point where it’s all about journalists expressing their opinions on just about everything instead of reporting the facts, and I’m not talking about the regular opinion writers like Krugman and Friedman who are specialists in their fields and add insights, I’m talking about Joe and Jane Wanabees. The article headlines ( ‘Five takeaways from…’, etc) are nothing but social media-induced click baits. And the false equivalence oozing in the political reporting is disgusting, it’s little wonder there’s such a clamour around ´fake news’. Where have Walter Cronkite’s disciples disappeared to? The NYT used to have a robust business section that’s all but disappeared, too. I’m nearly at the point of cancelling 😜

I’ve had a NYT subscription for forever, and have been reasonably satisfied, until a few weeks ago. I don’t know what your tech are up to, but it’s now virtually unreadable. It’s constantly updating, leaving a white screen of death that frequently freezes. Sometimes I’m left with vast amounts of white space on the screen, with only ads visible. I suspect it has something to do with time - I experience the worst problems around 6 a.m., and with all the fancy and unnecessary animations that frequently accompany articles. The ap updated a couple of days ago with no improvement. Please fix the app!

We already pay your subscription fee but your audio content relentlessly begs us for money. People who listen you you are already paying you. Please manage to reach those who are not already paying you and stop begging us for money. These constant ads prevent me from listening to your audio content because I can’t stand to waste my time listening to you beg me for money. Your advertisements go on and on and on. Like many of your subscribers, I am extremely busy and listening to so many really stupid irritating ads just wastes my time. Please do better.

The articles are great but the application is very impractical. The readers have a very limited view of what the newspaper has to offer. We can’t swipe anymore so we have to go to the bottom of the screen, press the sections button, find an article to read, once the article has been read we must hit the back button, choose a section we might be interested in, scroll down to find an article we might want to read and repeat the process gain and again. That puts me off reading.

It’s been a while now and despite a couple of updates since then, scrolling randomly freezes on a properly updated iPad 9. After about 5 to 10 seconds of being locked and immovable, scrolling resumes. It worked fine until about one month ago.

Can’t swipe from an article to another anymore! Been using that app for 9 years and the developper managed to kill it!! Congratulations. Reading the newspaper has become a nightmare. No more browsing from one story to the next. Need to go back to home page then click one by one on each article. What a pain! also: no offline reading. (except by saving individually each article).

Reader unfriendly App. and the weirdest, opinion articles classified by authors? Who is more important than the contents? that resumes the crap that become the NYT. Back in 2008 when I discovered the simple, reader friendly App, that was still "heaven". I had, until recently, 2 subscriptions. Not even able to find -without searching exact titles!- the articles, I have in front of me, on the paper versions! I am going to ride of the 3. Not feeding the porks.

Thanks for the audio version of article. Please now create a playlist feature so Idon’t have to keep rewriting to the app every few minutes

The last update is no longer compatible with iOS 15 and older iPhones. And the update is compulsory: the previous version refuses to start and forces you to install an update….that is not compatible with my iPhone 6s. I guess I will have to cancel my subscription then. Absolute shame! Good bye NYT.

World class journalism obviously but app freezes too often on my iPad. Frustrating.

I love my morning brief but the application is not usable beyond the single article. Browsing between articles is extremely slow and the app crashes when loading articles - I guess running out of memory even on a fairly recent iPad.

App keeps closing unexpectedly. Service client doesn’t respond after a first suggestion to désinstalle and reinstall app that didn’t change anything. Since then no reaction from service client despite several mails sent to them.

Is it because Carlos Slim owns 16% of the newspaper? The Times’s coverage of Mexico turned from totally condoning to judgmental and biased when the first-ever left-wing goverment was elected in 2018. The tone seems slightly less blatant since Sheinbaum took office. We’ll see!

Painful to see ads all over the place for a paid service. Uninstalled immediatelly and going back to the browser version with a good ad blocker.
