Very bad services support.I have been waiting 6 days for my 4th transaction to complete. I’m watching the updates all the time, and it just say that it is processing since May 14, I tried to get more information about my process and nobody could give me a concrete time estimate for when my transaction would be completed. In orden to get my money back as soon as possible, I cancelled my transaction, and today I received a mail where they told me that I have to wait 7 business days more. They claimed that this waiting time was due to the recipient bank. Nevertheless, the recipient bank in colombia had not idea about this and had never took part in the transaction. It is insane how this app is playing with my money. Welcomed ChangeI have had a love-hate relationship with one of the other big Remit services for almost 4 years now. After all of the ups and downs, hiccups and speed bumps that I had thought I had to tolerate to use a safe Remit service, I open my app the other day to find I couldn’t use it. Customer service via chat was vague and non-transparent about why, and eventually the agent just told me to have a nice day and disconnected on me! I have extended family in the Philippines and often to remit money to them almost daily. So this action is more than inconvenient, it was almost immediately a stressful emergency. Remitly preferredI have been using Remitly for a long time now so far I haven’t had any scams any problems of that sort. I have sent money from USA to Nigeria, Zambia, Dominican republic, Pakistan, etc. The problems that I have had I have been able to contact customer service 24 seven through Chat or phone. One instance I sent the money to the wrong bank. They said it would take up to a week, but the problem was solved right away, I did keep calling and chatting with them, and letting them know my concern an urgency. I have a current issue now, but the problem is the bank has received the money for the recipient and they are the problem right now but Remitly has done their work so far. I am very happy with the customer, service and support. I have tried other apps and services in town and so far this is my preferred. The most I have sent is $2000. I sometimes have not been easy on the customer service when I have an issue but we always end up working it out and I appreciate that. I appreciate their customer service. Thank you. God Bless.

An inexpensive way to transfer money overseasTheir app and website is simple and direct, except for changing the country the Recipient do you want to send the money to. It took quite a bit of searching around to find out that I had to go to settings in order to change the country first and then I could find the recipient that I had previously sent money to. If you look under history, only the recipients in the country the country that’s presently selected will show up. So that way you cannot switch back-and-forth between different recipients. Without going to the settings and changing the country. Took a while for me to figure this out and the software in this case needs to be corrected to make that simpler. Other than that it draws money directly out of my bank account and only charges a very low fee if I do that method. There is an option of sending money by credit card or debit card, but you’d have to check with your bank about the charges involved with sending money to a foreign denomination. Forget to send funds within the week if not MondayI have been using this app since more than a couple of years now. I hardly had to interact with their service representatives since the app has a very good user experience. It just i got used to the waiting for refunds when the transaction is cancelled for any reason. Not everyone has that parience to wait 3-4 days to get the funds back.
The Economy transfer time (which is actually below the current market exchange rate) takes minimum 5 days to complete. And if started on Monday, it reaches the other end on Friday. Otherwise it will be received next week, if started the transaction after Monday of any week. It’s ridiculous to take so much time. The funds gets deducted from the account within a day and another 4 days you just wait to get it delivered. I really hope they deliver the money to the recipient within 2 days, but in reality it’s not the case.
On the other hand, for the same delivery account, if used the express option, the funds get delivered within 10-15 mins. Which is a pretty good option if you are in hurry and ready to lose some more $$ on exchange price..Ro-hitmanVersion: 5.44

They Fixed Bug - I can send money again to my wifeFor a few weeks I was panicking because none of the customer support people were able to help me with my problem. Each time I had issues sending money to my wife. After 2 years no problems, suddenly the name was wrong. They said the bank in her country kept giving an error message. Which was not true. The internal system had some error and it appeared that way. How do I know? Because when the employees manually copy and pasted the recipient name on their computers, the transfer went through fine. So there was a bug in the system somewhere.
I’m just happy they fixed it. Some girl sent my case up to a higher level for investigation. So someone with computer programming/supervisor experience could see what the error was. I think this helped a lot. I love Remitly.

They requested my Govt issued ID, SSN and Bank Statement which I sent over to them, I sent over a screen shot of the first page of my bank statement the information on this page includes, Acc name, Acc Number, my PERSONAL ACCESS NUMBER, Balance and a few transactions. Worst customer service ever!I had done transactions in the past and everything was good, but I messed up on the account number one time, so I tried to cancel it and they told me their parent bank wouldn’t let them cancel the deposit, that there was nothing they could do at the moment, but their refund and cancellation policy states; “You can cancel for a full refund anytime unless the funds have been picked up or deposited”, so this is a lie, you can’t cancel the transaction at anytime because their customer service people don’t know how to do this, they told me they sent an email to someone else to cancel it and that it would take 2 days for them to be able to do anything, the money went into the wrong account in 4hrs.

Disgusting experienceRemitly’s main motive is “Send money to your loved ones when they need it the most” and this is only thing they are supposed to do but fail to do so. It worked very well initially but now it it’s cancelling my every transaction. When i try to add new payment method or update it , keeps on saying that they are unable to authorize cards. Terrible Customer Support & Unclear InstructionsI had two issues with Remitly:
1. My transaction was not being received by my recipient. So I contacted customer support. They said they’d contact the “concern team” and then told me they’d get back in 2-3 business days. The transaction was already late at this point so I asked if there was a phone number or email for the concern team and they said no. What kind of department doesn’t have an email or phone number?? They just kept saying that there was nothing they could do but that the concern team was contacted. And this was my first time using Remitly and $3000 was already taken out of my bank account. So you can see why I’d be concerned and why I wanted to get the contact info to check in the status of my transaction.
2. Unclear instructions for referral link. I clicked on the referral link I received and the link led me to the website where it said “download the app”. So I did so and made my first transaction but didn’t see the $20 reward. I thought it’d come through after the transaction goes through. But it didn’t so I called customer service. And they said I was supposed to click on the link again before making the transaction, which was not what the referral link said. The referral link said to register with this link to get the rewards. So I ended up having to call customer service and they just kept saying we see that you didn’t use any link. The instructions should have been clearer..WsdxopVersion: 6.1
DisappointedI had been using this app for a while and had no issues until last week when I noticed that one of my credit cards was charged twice through Remitly. I called Capital One as they notified me about this possible fraud, I did not recognize the charges as I never set up my card with my Remitly account. So I continued using my Remitly account and made a couple of more transactions but to my surprise next time my account was locked out, I called customer service and the first woman put me on hold for more than 20 minutes, she was unprofessional and rude, never came back so I hang up and called again. The second woman tried to explain to me the problem, I told her that I didn’t send that money but she would say I am sorry, I am sorry, and in the end told me if I wanted to use my account I had to pay the $100 that was taken by scammers through theft identity or any other way. The supervisor called me as I requested to speak to a manager, and he assured me my relative got the money based off his computer screen, which I found very disrespectful and unprofessional as I explained the facts to him but continue saying that the money was collected by my relative. They cancelled or suspended my account, and so far I don’t think I will get a good resolution but it seems to me that I’m not the first one when I read other customers complaining about scams/frauds. Horrible customer serviceWhen I first used this app last year my transfer was sent in minutes overseas to the recipient which was great. However, when I tried to use it last month I was given a “scheduled deposit date” that was 5 days after I sent the money. The date came & went and the funds were still processing. When I called the customer service number no one was able to clarify what the issue was, how long it would take to get resolved, or when the recipient would actually receive the money. I also was never updated about anything regarding the transaction via email until I called. After 10 BUSINESS DAYS (almost 2 wks) of the transaction processing with no movement, I called again to cancel the transaction. I was then told that there was no guarantee that I would get my money back because it had “already been sent to the partner bank” but that I should wait another 10 BUSINESS DAYS to be refunded. After 2wks of waiting, and NO REFUND. I called again, the rep that I spoke with assured me that the money was sent back to my account the week prior & that I should contact my bank. After having to escalate the situation to a higher up, because I knew that I was being lied to, I was then told that they never processed the refund in their system and that I would have to wait another 10 BUSINESS DAYS. Mixed feelingsSo I used this app for about two years. And I was more or less pleased with it. But as a world traveler, someone that meets people all over the world (70 countries). Someone that volunteers and is constantly giving back to the communities, it’s super disappointing that I was permanently banned because I broke the agreement. They couldn’t tell me specifically what I did, but I would suspect it’s because at times I would be sending SMALL amounts of money to adults that did not have an identification card. If anyone has traveled outside of the United States, they should know that many people have lost their identification card and cannot get it replaced. It’s very common. Most just simply function with a photo of their identification card on their cell phone. But those can’t be accepted when picking up a transfer. So, Remitly flagged my recent transfer and I contacted them and it took four different conversations, each one being 45 minutes and they still ended up banning me. Unreal. Under appreciated Loyal CustomerI’ve been using remitly for about 10 years. I have no problem with them from the start but with what happen recently I have concluded that this is not the right remitance you should trust. I try to send money for my family in the Philippines then suddenly they delayed my transaction for some unusual reasons. They want me to send a copy of my bank statement to push throught with the process. After sending the requirements, they told me I need more information about the money that comes in and out of my bank. Prepare For Avoidable DelaysThis review is not about the app itself. The problem is how this company fails to level users’ expectations. These transactions are not instant at all, and if there is a random request for something more in order to move forward with the transfer, you won’t be notified for quite a while (as in an hour or longer). If you have a business account, they’ll approve your account with the certificate of formation that you uploaded at the time of opening the account, but when you attempt a transaction, they’ll delay it and say that the proof of your business’s existence can’t extend one year. That’s fine, but it’s something that should’ve been requested BEFORE allowing the app user to initiate a transaction. My business was formed over 10 years ago. It would cost money and take several days for the state to send me that information. I would’ve happily done this when I initially opened the account. It's good until it's notRemitly has very poor support and tech system . I sent money to the wrong recipient . Name was correct but I messed up the digits by one number . The funds still got delivered . Which I do not understand how that happens if the number doesn't match the name as this was not the first time I did a transfer . I attempted to use Remitly for the first time today. After creating an account, I attempted my first initial transaction to a friend only to be told I had to wait up to an hour for a verification process to be completed. After two hours of waiting, I reached out to the company myself (both chat and phone) at which point I was quizzed with many intrusive questions regarding my simple and personal transaction to a friend. After that I was told I would have to wait about 36 hrs until someone could get back to me regarding their slow processes and it may even be canceled by the company altogether. The person on the phone was unable to help me and just told me to defer to the website for more information which was obviously unfruitful. I mean what’s the point of live customer service if you can’t answer simple questions and tell the customer to go read a website? After about 30 mins on the phone I just told the customer service representative to cancel the transaction altogether. I immediately signed up for an account with Western Union to conduct the exact same transaction over to my friend. No hassle and no terrible service. Money was sent and delivered in less than 10 mins. Recommendation is to use Western Union and avoid Remitly at all costs…..Literally and figuratively.

Loved it until their service made me hate itOn March 5th, I made two transactions of $1,000 each, totaling $2,000, which were reported as deposited into the recipient's account on March 14th. However, upon further investigation, I discovered that the funds never reached the recipient due to incorrect bank account information. Today is July 26th, and I have yet to receive any resolution or response. Worst customer service everI had sent money out of country many times using this app and over time i have noticed the customer service reps are extremely rude and blunt. They never give you full information or tell you everything that you should know. One of my transaction was on hold and i contacted customer service to ask the issue. Worst company everWOW, this has to be the worst company I have ever done business with. My girlfriend and I came to Colombia for a two week vacation. We have lived together in the US for the past two years but she grew up in Colombia when she was younger so she has a bancolombia account. I tried to just send 100 to her account through this app for some extra cash and it said we would have it in 15 minutes which was perfect because we needed it to pay the driver. Bad service- customer care wasn’t helpful much eitherI did make a transaction using bank account it gave 2 options of delivery 1. Express and 2. Don’t Risk your money on this site.I made a transfer to my bank in January 2024 through the app. A week later the cash had not reflected. I contacted Remitly and they said that they already sent the money and the only way they can help is by me providing my bank statement. This is weird since they cannot contact the bank by themselves yet they are partnering with them. I have them my bank statement nevertheless and the told me to give them a week for investigation. A week passed and they did not get back to me. I reached out to them after 2 weeks and they assumed that I had not lodged a complaint and started asking me again for a statement. After being furious they said that they will look into it I give them 3 days. After a month I got back and they again started acting like they don’t know my issue. 6 months later I follow up and they tell me that my bank is taking too long to have my money disbursed. Stay awayI opened an account using my Fidelity checking account as form of payment, then after a test transfer I applied for an upgrade to Level 2 or 3 because Level 1 is restricted to very low dollar amounts. After dealing with four different csvce reps I am frustrated: they claim that Fidelity is not a retail bank and that they can’t accept it. They seem not to understand that the very purpose of Remitly is to bypass or replace retail banks. Customer service is really poor and their agents lack training to even recognize an statement of account ( I provided 3 different statements and was told that they “were not statements..”) I did a couple if trial remittances and they went well and were credited in one day. When I tried a 3rd remittance to the same account for a larger amount it did not work : they just hold onti your money for weeks without credit to beneficiary nor refund. After a week waiting for credit a customer service rep told me that they needed copy if my id and proof of funds both of which Remitly had from the time I opened my account.

Not within minutes serviceMade a transfer to Brazil from USA, from myself to myself they requested 1 pay stub, tax return information, a 4 page form from the Brazil bank, that 90% of it did not apply to me since I’m not from Brazil. Also I only knew I had to send something because I would contact them directly, otherwise I would still be waiting. Yet they continue to send advertisement emails but can’t send what they actually need when a transfer is on hold. The transfer took 7 days to complete, then I made another transfer a week later thinking that they already have my information, that was not the case they requested everything again saying that it’s the bank in Brazil requesting it, despite the fact that everything was already sent to Remitly through their email and app, everytime they requested something they would ask for 2 business days to process it. The second transfer I ended up canceling it since this time they wanted 4 months of pay stubs despite the transfer was for less than 10% of the pay stub. ComplainBefore you transfer the money, the system tells you that the money will be delivered within 5 minutes. But when you complete the transfer, the system will make up an excuse that there is a problem and you will have to wait 24 hours for the recipient to receive the money. Or if you want to cancel the transaction, the system will refund you but the waiting time is within 1 month. This is crazy and a big scam to customers.

Very unprofessionalI have used Remitly to send three times. The first two times went without trouble. The third time, their agent called me to verify my relationship with the receiver and the purpose of the funds. They went on to ask some questions that I don't believe are reasonable. They want to know when and where I last met with the person and why I am sending money to that person and not anyone else. After all the questions, the agent said the verification was completed, they approved the transaction, and the funds would be processed and sent. They charged my card right after. However, the next day, my transaction showed as canceled, and my bank card was still charged. I called customer service, and they said they couldn't approve the transaction at the end (even though they called me asking all those questions and said everything was good to go), and the refund would be issued the same day or in 24 hours. Remitly blames your bank for everythingThese guys responded to a 1-star review for failing to credit a cancelled transfer in a timely manner by blaming MY bank, lol. Except my bank credits everything they receive IMMEDIATELY, unlike Remitly, who claims it can take up to 10 BUSINESS days to credit a cancelled transfer. That’s right, “business days”, their computers evidently get weekends off! They also train their CSRs to endlessly repeat this lie — it’s always YOUR bank’s fault, even when they finally credited my account WHILE I was on the phone complaining to them about causing havoc with my bank account and NSFing MY second corrected transfer with them. That’s right, it takes them longer to credit their own cancelled transfer than it does to resend money halfway around the world. Something is very wrong here, including them being honest enough to admit fault.

Suspended for no reasonLike many MANY others I have been using this app for some time. It was working perfectly. Being semi-retired in a foreign country I would send almost the exact same amount, same pattern to pay for my expenses every month. Suddenly my transfer for a small amount of money is flagged. BAD SERVICE!!!!! BEWARE!!!!If I could only give them a negative star, I would! Took them forever to process my refund! Agents are rude and can't give me a direct answer to my question where my money is! Even blamed my bank and Apple Pay were the ones holding my reimbursement! I waited 17 business days before I received my money back! And that money was meant to be used for emergency purposes! If I hadn't involved my bank and put in a dispute on this transaction, they wouldn't probably lift a finger! The audacity of them asking for a bank statement proving that you haven't received your money yet! Do not use RemitlyPlease don't use Remitly if you want a smooth transaction. They claim that the money will be available on a particular day but it's not the case. Also on cancellation, it takes 10 business days for your money to be back to your bank account. They have mentioned on the website that if you cancel a transaction within 24 hours, no money will be deducted from your account. However when I did so because I was getting a far more better rate on Xoom, they deducted my money from the bank 3 days after I had already canceled the transaction (within 24hours). When I contacted the customer care, they were rude and non-cooperative and brushed away my concerns. The amount I was sending was not small but in thousands and it mattered to me that my funds reached on time. Now I'm left with no option but to wait for another 10 business days to transfer my money.
I was so disappointed that I immediately uninstalled the app and decided never to use Remitly again.
Advice to Remitly: The customer service is the worst. Please help your loyal customers or else all the other money transfer services that give better rates and smoother transfers will soon take over..Ns24x7Version: 5.7
Horrible ExperienceI absolutely hate this app and the customer service that accompanies it. This was my first time using this app and I completed all the verification processes successfully only to have my transaction put “on hold” with no explanation as to why. I then called their customer service, as instructed, whom asked a bunch of questions interrogation-style and then put me on hold for almost an hour. At the end of the call, the representative for whatever reason decided not to allow me to transfer the money and closed my account without any explanation. I asked why and was not given an answer. You’re literally at the discretion of the representative you speak to as to whether or not your transactions will go through. Nothing else. There was absolutely no reason for my transfer to have gotten rejected. The representative did not give me a valid answer and refused to answer. Completely dissatisfiedWe’re mentally was good until it was not. I travel to Nigeria to stay with my husband husband for five months. Being that I am not Nigerian I cannot have a bank account here in Nigeria. It’s transferred my funds over. I have a business with weekly deposits. Supports scammersRemitly is a safe way for scammers now a days to get your money and never hear from them again. Happened to me as well. I got scammed for almost $400 that I worked very very hard for. I should’ve read these reviews before I decided to use this app. Customer service is THE WORST you can find out here. Getting ahold of them is a pain!I got the app to send money to family in need in Brazil. I’ve had the worst experience with them so far! The worst app to solve problems.It turns out that my Remitly account was "suspended" due to suspicious activity. I call for that problem solved with my account, it turns out that the one who takes care of me for the first time with that case tells me that my debit card cannot be removed from that account because according to them it is "suspended" and that apart from that I cannot put that same card back because it is in an account "suspended" according to them and that Second time I call and who takes care of me this time, if you tell me that I can open a case to recover an account, with a duration of 72 hours. Supposedly they opened the case for me and they would be calling me or sending me an email, things that I never received. Weeks passed and today I decided to call again and the only thing they knew how to tell me was that the "Customer Protection Department" made the decision not to reopen my account. Please dont use this appI used Express way to send the money to my family. As per their(Remitly) commitment if you use express way to send the money the funds will be available within 10-20 mins. But what really they do is they charged money from customer and don’t send it to their families and after you contact the customer service they would say we can’t do anything you need to wait for 24 hours for the information that why money isn’t available till yet .
