It’s Awesome - Highly RecommendedI’ve used PayPal for many years now. I feel my transactions are safer. It gives me a peace of mind. They provide security when dealing with a 3rd party seller. On the few occasions when I’ve needed to contact them for a transaction dispute, they’ve always been there for me to solve any conflict resolutions with 3rd parties sellers.
I also use PayPal Credit as a secret personal account separate from my husband’s account. I tend to mail money orders as my main source of payment to PayPal Credit as my secret account from my husband who knows nothing of the money orders. The only problem is I can only obtain money orders in amounts of $300. So if I need to make a $500 payment, that requires two money orders of $300 and $200 to equal the $500 payment. Of course, I put the two money orders in the same mailing envelope to the payment processing center. At the payment processing center, the envelopes are opened by a mail sorting machine. That machine opened a payment envelope one time and only processed one of the two money orders. That was $300 that got lost that time. It took weeks for them to finally find the missing money order after I spoke to a manager so I started putting all money orders in separate envelopes to avoid that in the future. I feel they could improve in that area. Some of use married folks have secret accounts from our spouses to avoid conflict. PayPal Credit has been a God send. But we should be able to put two money orders or checks in the same envelope. That’s my only complaint. :-).AJK1993Version: 7.32.1
Pre approved = nothingThe only real problem I’ve had is that they keep sending me notifications and adds that I’m pre approved for there debit card. Yet I can not get one. Also to add to my frustration. After being a customer for a long time. I have finally been offered the chance to just get the regular pay pal card to spend my balance at physical locations. Other than that. I have only had good service. Or maybe I was just one of the lucky ones that has not yet had to deal with certain situations yet. Only more time will tell. There are other options out there that are catching up if not surpassed PayPal by now. Stop resting on your laurels and step your game up. Otherwise four star reviews will turn into 1 star. Treat your customers with more respect and not like there the criminals in fraud cases. Cause honestly the bot and the help section have no idea what happened or happens in a fraud situation. Compassion. Some of the people who use your service is literally the only money and way of banking they can use. The fraud cases may very well be that persons last dime. Meaning no more income at all anywhere. I know it’s a four star review I gave you. Only cause I personally have not dealt with such situations. Use PayPal exclusively to run all my businessesHere at the Jungle Gym we use PayPal exclusively to process our credit card payments, to do online payments, to do PayPal here on site and we use virtual terminal to take phone orders.
I also use PayPal in my boomerang business, Leading Edge Boomerangs.
In both of my businesses I want to make it as easy as possible for my customers to pay me anytime and anyway they want. With PayPal I can take a payment on the beach using PayPal Here or virtual terminal. My customers can go online to our website and pay for classes or parties 24 hours a day by using the PayPal link on our website. Customers will call me to book a birthday party and I take their payment right over the phone and use virtual terminal to process the payment. When they come in for open gym, using PayPal Here they can swipe their card and process their own transaction.
I can also pay bills online or by phone using my business debit card linked directly to my PayPal account. I can transfer money directly to the bank account for the business or I can access cash instantly at an ATM. I can pay staff directly online through PayPal, giving me a record of every transaction and payment.
The other nice thing is that PayPal just continues to get better as far as ease-of-use and reporting so I know that R&D continues from their end. And finally we have never ever had a security breach using PayPal. Neither our accounts nor those of our clients have ever been compromised or jeopardized through using PayPal. Most aspects work well with one glaring exception!The resolution center needs an overhaul! I provide educational services not physical products. I have been notified of a buyer filing a claim with their bank that the transaction was unauthorized, a month AFTER they attended class and got their certificate thus reaping the benefit of the class/service. This is known as “fraud” they got what they paid for turned it in to the court and then 30 days later try to get their money back. When I received the email I go to the resolution center as directed and the case is not there. I send Paypal the supporting documents (registration / attendance sheet signed by the student) proof they got what they paid for. The case never appears in the resolution center. Paypal notifies me they have not received anything from me contesting the case. I go back to the resolution center and miraculously the case is there but the reply/respond button doesnt work. I call them and they tell me to email documents to a specific email address. I do that and get an email back that the documents have been forwarded to the person to put them in the case file. A week later I am notified that the case was decided in the buyers favor because I failed to respond to the case!
There have been other disputes that I received emails of that never appeared in my open case section of the resolution center. Not sure if there is just one person who is extremely swamped in this department or if paypal is using a very poor program to run this department. Customer Service Is Not The BestI’ve been using PayPal for a couple of years now and for the most part everything has gone smooth. I did have one issue where I ordered something online that I never received. I contacted PayPal after trying to contact the seller and tracking the package the way that the sellers website said to with only lies coming from their end. I was ready to give up but contacted PayPal in hopes they would at least get my money back to me. I explained what happened at they opened a case then after around two months of stringing me along they told me the purchase was made too long ago to report so I’d have to take it up with the seller who I couldn’t get in touch with in the first place which is why I resorted to contacting PayPal in the first place. If they had handled it correctly instead of dragging their feet it wouldn’t have been over the limit. I lost around $100 and they made me feel like I was the reason for it when I merely paid my bill and expected to receive what I ordered in a timely fashion. They need to improve their business model and their attitude. Bots aren’t capable of doing everything including dealing with sellers ripping people off through the web by posting fake websites and selling you lies you need actual people to look into things and arrive at sensible conclusions. I lost a lot of confidence in their payment protection and now only deal with well known websites I’ve used for years. Having to rethink using PayPal !I do not feel that it is right to be charged a $25 fee to send a family member that is in the service $800! I do know about the friends and family deal that you have set up, however my son was not in a situation where he could wait six days for a check to clear. Due to their family emergency they needed the funds immediately. A lot of times that is the case and is what PayPal and the friends and family is set up for. I stayed on the phone with one of the representatives in your company for over an hour, and I will add that I stayed on hold when I First called in for over 30 minutes waiting to speak with someone in the beginning. And obviously that did no good whatsoever.
The lady that tried to help me was very nice, however she could not speak English very well at all even though I will give her a B+ for trying. Also she was not familiar with any of your policies whatsoever every question I had she had to put me on hold and go look them up so there would be a question and another five minute hold, a question and another five minute hold yes I realize people have to train, but when doing so normally there is a supervisor or at least someone that has been on the job for a couple years sitting there beside them trying to help them and lead them through the difficult questions. I felt like this lady while giving it her best was just kind of hung out to dry. A lot of times I was leading her rather than her leading me.

Flawless for me, but recent trends have me worried.I have been a member here since before Elon sold it. So maybe 20 - 25 years? More? Their customer service has been excellent to me when I had a lost card or Email issues and The card has always worked. As a financial service it has been, until now, just about flawless.
However, lately the company has been taking a stand on issues that worry me, and I feel have no place in a financial services company. They are hewing to an ESG model of corporate governance, which means they are embracing trendy racism, with DEI ideology and taking a partisan stand on societal issues, when all money is, is a tool, for the exchange of goods and services. Taking a stand on issues that map to a light version of Marxism, is not something a tool of Capitalism should be doing, if their most important attribute is the trust the customers place with them along with their money. Leftists cannot be trusted, because power is their only true value. Everything else they profess is just a means to acquire and maintain power. If PayPal desires to aid the left in its acquisition of power, at the expense of its customers, legal, but on the right, I cannot recommend them, until such time as they return to pure service values they have had before the current year. No Phone support, tools for recovering money from scammers!Currently there is No method to open a case for a seller that refuses to send an item; there needs to be a way to induce seller to send an item in an agreed upon time frame while leaving further recourse for the buyer to escalate the case if the seller sends and empty package, a SNAD, damaged item etc. I was forced to open an item not received cased because the seller refuse to have courier our pick up the item. When the courier picked up item I closed the case believing item was on its way. The seller from Italy sent an empty envelope. So I had no way to reopen an item not received case. Luckily Ebay saw thru her I’ll conceived fraudulent child’s plan and took the 250 euro from her account to deposit in my PayPal account 2 months later. After all the lost sleep worrying and anger about being scammed because of my good faith, I believe I deserved pain and suffering compensation as well as the item that was my true loss in the matter. Ask so she immediately declined my PayPal payment on eBay so I would make the payment directly on PayPal, believing eBay’s protection policy wouldn’t apply because payment was made outside Ebay; another amateur scammers move as Ebay owns PayPal and are under the same umbrella protection. Also she sent false pictures of packages to me the were seemingly counterfeited by a child. I gave PayPal five stars because I have never had a problem with them in the past,but what I was saying with identity theft being at a all time high I understand that things can happen but when you are passing yourself off as a reputable business you are supposed to rectify any problems that may occur. I love this appSo I usually don’t write reviews but after what just happened I knew I had to. Recently i had plenty of my platforms hacked because I used the same password for most of my platforms (stupid yes I know they’re changed now). I had changed most of my passwords but had forgotten to change my PayPal password and that led to some issues. Well yesterday when I logged on I saw three payments I didn’t recognize because I only use PayPal to pay my Disney+. Well I looked into it and decided to report it as a payment someone else set up. I wasn’t expecting much from PayPal but within less than two hours I received an email saying my case had been resolved and the money taken out had been refunded as it was determined as unauthorized payments. The amount of relief I felt after getting that email was great. So yes I 10/10 recommend PayPal for online payments and shopping. Also don’t use the same password for all your platforms lol. The only thing I could think of to make the app better is if they would send an email or text whenever another device logs into your account. So if you’re deciding whether or not to get PayPal do it! Great service But the App Got A Little Worse Last UpdatePayPal, please either revert automatic payment management to the previous method or add a “display all activity” button. Managing automatic payment has been taking 10x longer (used a stopwatch to check) than before.
I’ve been using PayPal for around 2 decades and the app itself for many years. I have had good experiences with both. Unfortunately a recent update made things a little (not a lot) worse by changing the way automatic payments are managed. Previously all vendors that you had automatic payments with were loaded as a scrollable list at once which was a fast and easy way to manage the payment option used for each almost instantly. Now I have to push “More Activity” and wait for a handful of them to be added to the list then push it again (13 times in total), a process that adds over a minute to the process each time I want to manage the payment option for a vendor at the bottom of the list.
To be clear, this is my only issue with both the app and PayPal so far. My experience with both has been positive. But I frequently adjust payment methods to avoid getting excessive credit card usage on one card and this update made that a lot more time consuming. The only pay app I trust but,,,,I have been using PayPal for many years and for the most part you can’t beat the protection that they have. Out of over a thousand transactions I have had maybe a dozen disputes. Out of those disputes two did not go in my favor which I still don’t agree with the decision. The first dispute was I paid $30 for an item from a vendor within the U.S. and never received an order confirmation and ultimately never received the item. I physically called the company and never got anyone on the phone and only got a pre recorded saying that they are backlogged with orders and are doing their best to get orders filled after waiting months I filed a dispute with PayPal and after a month PayPal got back to me saying that they got no response from the vendor and if I wanted to escalate the dispute I had to respond within 7 days or the dispute gets thrown out, well during that response time I was on vacation in the Mojave desert camping in my RV riding ATV’s so when I got back to civilization and contacted PayPal they said that being that I didn’t respond in the allotted time that the dispute was closed. It’s only $30 but I just feel that maybe the response time should be a little longer.

A little disappointedAs with other reviewers, I have had PayPal for many years and have not had any issues until recently. The newest website design is confusing to me.
I sent in regular monthly payments as I had been doing for years. This was for a 6-month same as cash deal. Out of the blue I received a check for over $600 from PayPal. When I checked my account online i realized There were 2 separate accounts , one was charged interest for the same-as-cash purchase and a late fee; the other was where the $600+ check came from. I don’t remember this happening before. Apparently PayPal had made changes to the way they handled my account. If they notified me of these changes I don’t remember reading anything Besides, every year about this time we get notices of privacy laws, terms and conditions, and other legal papers with jargon that I just don’t keep up with
I made a call to PayPal customer service and got the issue resolved. The gentleman I spoke with took off the extra charges without a problem. The Rep was professional but had no personality. It’s a very easy banking app to use, everything is self explanatory.. If you are a customer having trouble it’s probably because you did not take your time or didn’t read everything through… If you have had issues no matter what state you’re from there is a Attorney General you can get a hold of and they take banking very seriously because it is federal. So if there’s a discrepancy with your money or transactions and PayPal is refusing to give you the customer service you deserve as a customer I recommend you call the attorney generals office immediately and file a complaint. Obviously the attorney generals office also does not look kind upon false allegations either.. Better then a BankI have no had PayPal for at least ten years and love it!!!! It keeps excellent records for you all your history and with whom. I’ve read some of the negative remarks and I have an extremely hard time believing many of them. Yes that they might of spend some time on the phone; well guess what nothing in this world happens at a snap of the finger. Yes even with banks and Comcast you can spend 2-3 hours on the bank; as long as your issue has been resolved. Anytime I have called PayPal for anything they have always resolved my issue. They have opened cases for me and have never taken a penny; they do NOT Charge for that so stop lying. Also if someone has sent you money and then called and filed a case against it and their bank, yes you have to deal with the person who did that and not PayPal. Just as any bank receives a fraudulent transaction and gives back the money so does PayPal. So why do you think if someone called in on you and said it is a fraudulent transaction you get to keep the money? Hence you have to deal with the person who owes you money. Love the app, hate the new designThis is a wonderful app. I never have any problems with it working, and it's so convenient to use. The only thing I don't like is the new design where when you open it up, instead of your balance being at the top, the latest notifications are at the top, and they're really large taking up a lot of room, and you have to open them to get rid of them, which is a hassle, even though you can see what they say without opening them. Then to get to your balance so you can tap it to do a money transfer, you have to scroll down past all that.
I used to be able up open up PayPal, immediately see how much money I had, and boom, transfer funds in two seconds. Now I gotta go through the hassle of scrolling through notifications that someone sent me funds, when I already knew that because I got the pop-up notification, and scan through the visual clutter to find my balance. It's a chore to have to go through and open each notification message to get rid of it so I can actually see my balance.
The new interface is cluttered and confusing. The balance doesn't stand out and is harder to pick out among all the other stuff, and that's the main thing people usually want to see first. Payment DelaysThe app is very easy to use and safe; however, I felt not all of the information was transparent.
Summary: The app could improve transparency while doing transactions about fees and any additional charges involved in the transaction. There is a big miscommunication problem.
I was trying to send some money to a friend and decided to send him 15 dollars, which is the equivalent of nearly 202 Mexican pesos (according to PayPal’s system). When my friend saw the transaction, he noted he received only 180 Mexican pesos instead of the 202 that the app told me he would receive. The app at no point let me know the recipient would be charged for “International Currency Conversion” or anything similar, which I believe is a lack of transparency.
Not only that, but PayPal decided to keep this money on hold for 20 additional days and they did not let me know this before completing the transaction. They never mentioned a delay time before this transaction.
On top of that, I was told that even if I requested a refund for this transaction, I would not be entitled to a full refund as a conversion charge was made and I would lose that money.

PayPal for Business was a mistakeI’ve used PayPal for years as my personal account without issue. So when I started a business, I decided to open a PayPal Business account so I could process credit card payments. Big mistake. After setting up the account and submitting all the documentation required, I thought we were all set. My very first customer called me saying the credit card payment option on the invoice was not functioning. I checked and sure enough, PayPal had suspended it. I called multiple times and spent hours on the phone with their hard-to-reach support. They said I needed to submit additional information, which I did. Weeks later and I was getting emails saying “we’re still processing your information”. This literally went on for MONTHS. I have tens of emails saying this. I gave up and went with Chase to process credit card payments, which I have had ZERO issues with. This brings us to today. I get an email saying my account is permanently deactivated. Fine by me. But then it says I will be charged a “high volume dispute fee”. That makes no sense whatsoever because I never had a single transaction successfully clear as we stopped using PayPal very early on and switched to Chase. All this is to say, I’m very disappointed that this was my experience with PayPal. And support staff tried to be helpful but it didn’t seem like they knew how to help me. Feeling frustratedI recently found myself in a situation without my bank card and I was fortunate enough to have a pay pal card. I used it to put a deposit on a hotel and I did appreciate the ease of pay pal. The only thing that’s really frustrating was trying to redeem my deposit back. The hotel said I should have it in three days but it didn’t come. I asked pay pal and they said it should be no problem to use the card this way and I shouldn’t experience any issues. I called the hotel and they said 5-7 days now but it never came. I asked pay pal again and they started saying things like the customer has to say they’ve returned the product first. I told them that’s not what’s happening. I called the hotel again and they confirmed they had released the deposit. I went back to communicating with pay pal through a messenger app and they could not under that it was a return deposit. I finally found a number and tried to contact an actual human and they could not talk to me. I called multiple times, at least ten times. I gave up and went back to trying to explain there was no product and it was for a deposit I made, on a hotel room. It took many messages, to various agents, before I could get the point across. I finally found an agent that could understand human language and told me my deposit will come back on my card. But not for another 12 days. It was just and awful lot to go through for a $50 deposit. Not Friendly User - Will Lose CustomersI have an e-commerce shop that offers different ways to pay. All different payment methods, but PayPal, goes automatically into my account. PayPal will charge a fee for using them. Automatically put limitations if you’re a new account, until you give them all the necessary documents to prove who are and what you do. And even with those limitations taken off, they hold your money because you’re new. You can even be a long time customer but if you haven’t sold in awhile or some other silly reason, you’ll run into this problem as well. Not only will they keep your money, but apparently my product doesn’t qualify for their sellers protection program. So basically not only do I not get paid, but if the customer decides to claim they never received the package just so they can get their money back while keeping my product (because people like that do exist) or somebody did in fact steal their package, I’m left without pay, while suffering loss of products, and can’t be protected from it. And supposedly you have to check off their list of things they want you to do in order to receive those “privileges”. Also no customer is going to want to wait for you to get their money and then send the product. So I either have to have faith in this customer, send the product anyway ahead of time, and hope PayPal will release the money in 24 hours. Support is poor; communication is worse1) It’s really hard to get to someone when there’s a problem. 2) it can take a long time for a transaction to clear even if it’s already cleared your bank but they act like it hasn’t cleared the bank. 3) it will put out error messages that really have no meaning but say try again. I tried again and again only to find out they out a 72 hour block on transfers without notifying me - it looks like because I was on Microsoft defender VPN. BUT each time I tried again as their error message said to do, it reset the 72hour counter for the block they didn’t notify me I was on. After waiting for a real person to get back to me, they didn’t know why exactly I was on a block and other than it looked like I was away from home. 4) Resolution center doesn’t have enough choices to cover the problems. 5) AI help is a regurgitative waste of time. 6) regular help is a repetitive waste of time. 7) they get to float my money longer for their benefit. 8) Support isn’t consistent with their answer and vary from person to person. 9) don’t use for crypto because they say they have no controls on their system to when transaction fail and trigger hood times not how long those hood time can be so if an attempt is made while on hold the hood can be extended. In my case it’s been over a week to try and transfer out some crypto but the indefinite hold has allowed the value to drop below what I needed it to be and still falling. UnhelpfulNot only did paypal mark it as suspicious to log into my OWN account, even when i submitted all my information (which i checked was in there) my account was suddenly permanently limited, and i did not have any money in it, but i needed to close it for a certain bank, and i decided to check why such a thing was done, and found out some ‘person’ named ‘Alma Chamberlain’ was using my information alongside theirs. i obviously went to close the account, but guess what? paypal, with their excruciatingly slow website that froze even after their own notification came up, wouldn’t let me close my account, leaving this random ‘person’ with full access to all the banks and cards linked to it i still use someplace in Ohio. after all this, i went to just log into my current account that uses a different social email, and i gave the face id activated, and for some reason it struggled to recognize me in proper lighting looking directly at it, so i entered the password instead, which was correct, and all of a sudden paypal locks me out of that account, and says it was ‘suspicious’, and that account does in fact have funds in it (which paypal wouldn’t let me transfer anyway because of the old one i tried to close) so now i will go lock all of my accounts, solely because paypal has been more of a disservice to me than even close to helpful, and all this is surface level, i’ve even left out details. paypal is too internally flawed to make a proper banking app..LunarMeifwaVersion: 8.41.0

They have dropped the ball two many times.I just got off the phone with PayPal wasted an hour of my life today just like I did a week or two ago trying to get something transferred correctly from my PayPal card account. I even called ahead of time to ask them how to properly transfer the money into this account so that I could pay two bills one with them and their pay in 4 account. And one with an insurance company I have connected to my PayPal. There was a glitch error in the app where I tried to transfer the money and pay the fee to instantly get the funds back and somehow it transferred to my bank account and now it’ll take four days which will be making the bills I have to pay late. They told me even though it was instantly done there was nothing they could do on their end. And tried to tell me multiple times that I press the wrong button when this isn’t my first time using this account I’ve had PayPal since 2011. The customer service reps clearly don’t speak English and that’s not because they are minorities they do not speak a language where we can communicate. And they’re quick to rush you off the phone or blame you for their errors. Once my payments are done late but done I will be canceling every single account I have with PayPal. Unethical behavior, extremely poor customer service, outright thievery. BewareI trusted this company to accept payments from my customers and hold my funds securely and they abused that trust. They charge a fee of 3.49% to process transactions for my business. Fine. But on top of that, they refuse to release my money to me in a timely manner, giving me wildly varying reasons why I can't withdraw my funds and sometimes no reason at all. I'll talk to one customer service rep, who says my money will be available to me by a certain date, only to have another rep act confused and give me a different date several days in the future.
I try to withdraw my funds and select instant transfer. Even though there is no mention of this, selecting instant transfer can mean your money will be transferred after several days instead, and they do not and will not provide any reason for this. They can just decide that they don't want to release your money at the moment, and there is nothing you can do because you have no power in this relationship. Their customer service reps will lie to you, tell you contradictory things, and hang up on you.
The truth is they make massive amounts of money from lending out any funds you have on deposit with them, and they will do anything they can to delay releasing your money so they can make more money off of you.

Horrible customer service with zero protection on purchasesI had returned an item that the seller agreed to refund, Seller confirmed they reviewed the item and that a refund should have been issued. Seller stopped communicating after 2 weeks so I escalated to PayPal by opining a dispute. I sent pictures of seller confirmation and tracking info provided by seller for return. The seller also sent this information and it was documented in the case timeline. PayPal somehow came to the conclusion that the seller never confirmed they received the item despite both parties submitting evidence that the item had been received. I then disputed the charge my bank who credited me back what should have been refunded. PayPal then updated my account to missing payments so I explained to them that my bank could see the seller confirmed they reviewed the item and credited me the refund. PayPal continued to harass me for the next 2 weeks until I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. About 2 weeks later I received a message from PayPal customer service specialist that they would offer me a little over what was “owed” in missed payments to settle the matter and close my dispute with the Better Business Bureau but still said I was wrong and the seller never confirmed anything despite it being clearly documented on several occasions in the case file. Scammed and PayPal won’t helpMy very first transaction I did online was through PayPal because I had trusted that if anything went wrong with the sale, I could rely on PayPal to keep my money safe and give it back if the sale did go wrong. Surprise surprise I did end up getting scammed, I didn’t receive the items at all and the sellers completely ghosted me. I went to PayPal support and was excited to find “buyer protection” and I was more than eligible for this because obviously I didn’t receive the package. I sent them a whole bunch of proof (me talking to buyers and them ghosting me after I asked about the package, the buyers website which eventually did get taken down for obvious reasons, their fake good reviews along with the bad real reviews giving them low stars. These all got deleted including my review, and others). I waited patiently till I received an email saying my case was denied because… the package was delivered. Okay, I am well familiar with people trying to scam businesses and getting free things but I had sent PROOF that the package was false from the BEGINNING starting with the tracking number they had given that isn’t even a valid tracking number! And PayPal had the nerve to tell me it was somehow delivered. I tried to file another report but I keep getting redirected to a case closed page. Cashapp vs PayPalI have learned today through PayPal support that they don’t have the ability to block merchant transactions and this is so important . Imagine someone gets your PayPal card and buys a reoccurring purchase that isn’t a subscription (for example lead apps like thervo ) you can Dgo to support and literally tell them you are being charged fraudulently and they will ask you to go to the actual merchant to stop them from charging you . This is so awful becuase image you went to a food cart in New York to get food . These carts move around daily , they can continue to hit your card with duplicate charges and you would have to either cancel your account or leave everything in savings and hope it doesn’t steal your money when you move it to balance . Cashapp shows all of your recent activity . If a transition went through or not Cashapp will show these transactions. You can go to support and block merchants transactions simply by tapping the transaction and typing “block merchants” you won’t be able to get charged again . But you cannot expect PayPal to keep your fund secure if you don’t have the control to block fraudulent charges . Never trusting PayPal with large sums of money maybe 10$ at a time . TERRIBLEThey shut down my account due to the “excessive risk involved”. I’ve never had a dispute on my account since I’ve opened it. They asked for documentation earlier today & i provided everything they requested. I called and asked about why my account was permanently closed & they said they can’t provide any more information and I need to refer to the email that was sent. All the email said was it closed down due to the excessive risk involved. The lady did say that I sent the wrong info they asked for? I took a picture of my drivers license as requested and a picture a package with my address to provide the address. NOT SAFE!!!!I have had problems with PayPal, Xoom, Venmo. How can a company offer financial services when they are not capable of protecting your personal information and money?! My Xoom account was hacked… whoever it was got in and started sending money with the bank account that was on file. I woke up with a bunch of notifications… I tried to stop the transactions since it wasn’t me doing it calling the costumer service center. And they said they couldn’t anything with the transaction that were already completed. My question was and still is: how someone got it my account and was able to send various transfers and those transfer be completed within 2 or 3 hours after it was submitted. Cause when I have done it myself it took days to have it completed. They frozen the account they canceled 4 of the transaction that were submitted but still went through and made it to the bank. And they said that I’d have to call the bank to have them stopping those payments and refund me. WORSE FINANCIAL COMPANY TO DEAL WITH! Never open a account with them. Not able to protect your information and not even care if/when something happens to your account. Now the bank opened a investigation that will pretty much take 45 days to be completed and I will only have the money back if they’re able to prove that it wasn’t done by me. PayPal doesn’t like poor or sick people, needs fees to help them.Have used this app for 13+ years on and off. Randomly I can not send my uncle money to help him pay his rent through friends and family. No update on the app or anything is different just can’t do it now randomly. He had someone send him a few bucks yesterday for something no problem! Send $500+ to my friends multiple times for things over the years no problem! Try to send my 70+ year old uncle $200 to help pay rent cause he can’t afford it since he is out of work due to a quintuple bypass and value reconstruction surgery he barely survived… no.. must be goods and services so PayPal can get a cut. Fair money app at bestI applaud PayPal for being an early adapter of mobile payments. However, the rest of the industry is passing them by. Many payments take far too long to process, allowing PayPal to pocket the interest. Although this is only a few days, when working with millions of dollars, it adds up to not an insignificant amount of extra money for them. Most other apps allow for instantaneous transfers from banks, not just credit cards like PayPal does.
I got a line of credit through PayPal credit. I do NOT recommend this!! I was out of the country and needed to pay for an item. I had excellent credit (over 750). The day after I opened the account my credit score dropped 100 points. I actually paid back the loan in less than 7 days. I had a credit applied to the account and the can not give you YOUR money back except by mailing a check. Again allowing PayPal to float your money while the make interest on it. The is no reason PayPal can’t instantly transfer money from your credit account to your PayPal balance. They also try and get more money from you by making requests for payment add the 3.5% charge. I was just trying to remind a friend to pay for their half of a dinner. Instead, I had to contact them to start a new transaction. Wrong email kaput inSecond time using PayPal I was wondering why it was taking so long so I made the payment again I showed the recipient that I had sent the payment we waited and waited finally the recipient noticed I mixed two numbers up in the email address I contacted them (good luck talking to a person) after a dispute they refunded me $2500. Saying I paid twice which I did to the wrong email address so I disputed the second payment (by that time we figured it out so the recipient got his money) I’ve been in contact with them or their computer and was told the dispute was in my favor by someone sitting on their computer and should have the money back on my card in 5 days. It never came instead I get a message saying they denied my dispute because there was no problem with the payment 🤦🏼♂️ no kidding really of course there wasn’t other than I messed two numbers up and it went to probably an invalid email I was told to contact the recipient how can I contact someone who does not exist??? Wish I could love it…Update 7/22: My review is now down to one star. After initial difficulty and an unhelpful call to customer service, my funds were released and shortly thereafter, I got an email that PayPal was sending my their Debit MasterCard (I did not request it bc I was planning to close the account entirely). In the email and info about the card it says you will have immediate access to your funds on the card… so I thought “great, I can give them another chance, this should solve the problem!” Nope. I recently invoiced another customer for an in-person pickup of their cake (there should be options for transactions that aren’t being shipped btw), and wouldn’t you know it… ANOTHER hold! But of course, PayPal exacted their fees. I’m livid. Once these last funds are released, I’m closing the account and never looking back. This service is not something small business owners can rely on. The app is fairly straightforward and easy to use, so no real complaints there. As a small business owner, though, the arbitrary “holds” without real explanation or answers is exceedingly annoying. The general response is “if you’re new” it’s for protection, but it’s hard to build trust with a payment provider that basically holds your money hostage for up to 21 days, especially if you have no complaints filed and have verified everything. Bad Customer ServiceFor as big and successful as this company is, you’d think they’d have good customer service. Every time i try to add to my paypal balance is transfer money to my bank, i get an error message. i’ve been using this app for years so i know i’m not doing anything wrong. i’ll go to the helo center, talk to an agent, they’ll “unlock” my account as like a one-time thing so that the transfer goes through. but then the next time i try to do it, it happens again and i have to get in contact with an agent again just to use a standard feature on the app. i have two bank accounts so i use paypal to get money from one to the other. and in the app, they let you have more than one card hooked up so like,, if that poses a problem then don’t make it possible. like don’t make it a feature IN THE APP. i’m not blaming their customer service representatives, they do all they can. but the permissions they’re given are insufficient when it comes to helping customers. they’ve specifically said that all they can do is a one-time account unlock and that they have no way to guarantee that it won’t happen again. they should be given more resources to help their customers. i would like to be able to use the app like anyone else normally would, but paypal is so finnicky that i’d abandon it if i knew of another app that gave me the ability to transfer between my bank accounts. i just want my money, it’s that simple.Xjohnny2000Version: 7.28.0
Do not recommendI used PayPal for a few months, however I will not be utilizing their services any longer. Things go great for a smooth and quick checkout when shopping online, but the “resolution center” is a joke. They make you wait several weeks before things move along in your case. Also, they don’t have a customer service rep right now, I understand there is a pandemic crisis going on right now, however every other legitimate, successful business have people to answer phones, even if they have to work from home. I had a case with a company that I warned PayPal ahead of time that seemed fraudulent after I hadn’t received an email or update from the company. They waited so long to step in that a defective product finally came to my door after 2 months. When I requested to return it, after another month or so, I was told I could return it if I cover the costs myself and in a specific time frame. The UPS store informed me that the return address provided was invalid and I needed a different one. I attempted to call and message but no answer and the message board was clearly not a person and instead a computer picking random words from what I was saying and trying its best to give me a helpful answer but it clearly wasn’t. Then I was told it was too late and my case was closed. I tried to reason with the message board after that, however it was clearly still not a human being as it continued to repeat itself. I no longer trust PayPalThe new business my husband and I own recently invoiced our second client via PayPal, per the client’s request. The invoice went to the client with no issue. Unbeknownst to us, PayPal took 3.5% of the multi-thousand dollar amount. As annoying as that was, even more frustrating was the fact that we were told we couldn’t withdraw the funds for 3 weeks. It was explained to me by someone at the company that they have to make sure our business wasn’t a “risk” for PayPal until we’ve made a total of 10 transactions. I let them know we’re making our client wait bc of their “policy”, and that it sounds like they need to use the money before giving it to us. That sealed the deal for us to no longer use PayPal once we received the money. When trying to close the account, PayPal blocked the account closure and I was told that there was a “wall” put up by the company bc they needed to verify my identity. I had previously verified my identity with the appropriate documents, so why they again need me to verify my identity is ridiculous. I was given instructions on how to upload the documents, but they made no sense. I corresponded with 3 different cust svc agents who all gave me different answers on how to solve the problem, none of which either worked or were helpful. I’ve had no problem with PayPal over the years until now. I have lost all confidence in this company and am, sadly, expecting more issues before being able to close the account. The transfer fees to send people money are insane — I sent someone $10 and PayPal charged me $1.58???? Venmo is free, people. I started selling via Depop, which forces you to use PayPal to sell, and almost all of my money was held for days and days — according to PayPal I’ll get it within a few days after confirmed delivery but my hopes are low. Completely awfulIf I had a single encounter that was bad I wouldn’t judge but every time I have an issue with this company I can never get in contact with anybody. They claim that they cannot provide customer service agents because of Covid but just like other companies they can telecommute. Not to mention answering the phone can be done from home and is one of the easiest things that can be done from home. Yet they refuse to hire customer service agents so they can pocket money. There’s stocks have gone up over $100 in less than a year and continue to do so. I have had not one but two instances where someone has sent me money and it doesn’t show up andPayPal claims that they’re waiting on the bank to process but we then contact the bank and they state that it is cleared. These were 4K and 6 k payments I really needed. Each representative tells me the exact same thing and each time I contact the bank and they tell me that the money has cleared. PayPal then gives me a no later than date and each time the money has not come by that date. Two weeks later and I still don’t have my money and I can’t get a hold of any agents and when I do via text chat there is no resolution and the same response. “We are waiting on the money to clear from the bank”. Each time the no later than date approaches they make excuses and say it could take five more days. Terrible customer servicePayPal customer service is a joke. After trying everything to get a live person on the line..I was disconnected while talking with the first rep after 20 minutes & he didn’t bother calling back..despite me having verified he had my current contact info. After another hour trying to get another live person on the line..I was assured by the second rep that this was easily fixable and give them 48 hours. She PROMISED repeatedly that I would get a call from her promptly if after 48 hours the money I was trying to get back..which was accidentally deposited to the wrong person..was not returned. Does not protect sellerIt doesn’t sound awful until it happens to you. I always felt PayPal was part of my business and used it faithfully. I was loyal , paid my fees, and thought honesty always prevailed. Until the first complaint was filed against me, after many many years of using PayPal.
Long story short, the nature of my company requires nonrefundable deposits. It costs me money to hold items and after a certain amount of time the item looses value. All of this is stated in writing before a purchase is made. After holding an item for a lengthy period a customer decided the item was not for her. To no prevail ,I spent time with her showing her other items that matched her request. I heard nothing from her, never asked for a deposit refund (because she knew it was not honest). Then I received a PayPal notice of complaint. I explained everything I just stated. They ruled in favor of the customer refunding the deposit and also issuing me a fine!!! To top it off I can’t get an answer from them other than some computer generated response. I felt betrayed ….. well actually I was betrayed.
After that happened I realized there was no protection for me. Seasonally I receive large deposits and if these buyers back out it is devastating for my company.

Random holds on sending moneyI’ve experienced a number of frustrating problems with PayPal. I’ve talked with customer service numerous times about the situation. Basically, PayPal will randomly prevent me from sending money to my bank. It seems like they have algorithms that may flag your account based on quantity and frequency of transferring money to banks. They said it looks at different factors of how old your account is, how often you use it, how much you send, etc. Ok all of that could be overlooked if customer service or a manager could override the algorithm’s decision, but they can’t. Not only that they can’t even explain definitively why a hold was put on the account. You can’t even call ahead to ask if you try to send money will a hold be placed on the account. They don’t know. You just have to try sending money and see what the almighty algorithm decides. I sent almost $4k in one transfer last Dec with no issues. Then a month or so later tried to send the same, but was denied. I tried to send $3k, but still denied. Customer service suggestion was try to send $1k a little each week or so to build up amount can send. Ok, but I sent $4k in Dec why isn’t that at least my ceiling? I know people that have their account for only a couple years and they send $10k or more per week. Why can they but I can’t? Terrible App, Terrible Customer Support.This app will freeze on you while making a payment and submit your payment twice, then when you call to cancel the second bogus transaction for the same amount (obviously), you are told that isnt allowed. Even when it is the companies faulty apps fault. I have been doing business with PayPal for a very long time. PayPal was my favorite financial institution, but after this situation they have fell to the bottom of my list. After days of back and forth with PayPal about this app malfunctioning I was told I would have to use the extra payment as a credit on the card and spend it that way, which is very absurd. The only reason why PayPal even exists today is because they hitched their wagon to eBay successfully but who still shops on eBay? Good Product, Complete Lack of HelpI use PayPal a lot, because the product itself is good. But only giving 2 stars because of PayPal’s continued commitment to providing less than the bare minimum of service necessary to dispute transactions, ask questions, and work through problems.
1. No telephone service during COVID-19. I get it, people were staying at home. But as someone who works for a humble non-profit, my employer was quick to find solutions for workers to keep their jobs while working from home. PayPal obviously didn’t do this. They were no longer offering help via phone, so talking to a human instead of texting was out of the question. I had to make a Twitter account and tweet at the PayPal Twitter account to get their attention. I don’t own or use Twitter, so it was troublesome to have to go to that sort of work to get my money back after I was the victim of a scam.
2. Like every other website on the planet, PayPal is obsessed with the idea that they’ve already answered your question. It’s difficult to even get in touch with someone through their help center, because they want to push their FAQ on you instead of allowing you to just ask your question. I have NEVER found the answers in FAQ, typically because when I need help it’s because I’ve already exhausted common sense options.
