There is no need to write about the wide range of topics covered by the Guardian, no newspaper in the UK, France or Germany can match this. But to detect all these interesting articles you need the guidance of the daily downloadable edition which the internet site is not good at. I do not go directly to one of the sections I am interested in but start at the beginning and go page by page. I read articles I would otherwise not have read. Thumps-up for the digital team.

I have read the Guardian iPad edition for a few years and am very pleased not to have to buy a copy at the kiosk any more since that was not always possible. Its distinguished comment and editorial sections offer much food for thought. The guardian can pride itself of its great newspeople who stand up to corporate and political power and do so with the calm confidence of reason. The only drawback is that copies cannot be stored. The one objection I have is to breadth of coverage of some minority positions in liberal societies which are being raised to a level I feel is no longer appropriate.

Just perfect!

In the years I changed the style how I consume news. Beginning with newsletters every morning - including and also favouring the Guardian through the week I also take times for deeper reflection. The Guardian perfectly reflects my habits and brings excellent articles and reviews. It is - printed, and in my view much better on iPad - the best newspaper around.

Let's start with some points of criticism: - Website-exclusive sections like Tech and Science are not included. Of course one could argue that they are not included in the print edition either, but IMO that'd be quite a feeble argument considering this is an electronic version - So far I haven't been able to find an option to change the font size Other than that the touch and feel of the app is great. Just work on the above points and you can count me among your subscribers.

This is how it should be done when it comes to newspapers and magazine on the iPad. Great app which caters to the strengths of its host medium and does not try to mimic (unsuccessfully) the classic newspaper layout. Fantastic work !

Excellent, on time every morning and easy to navigate and read compared to other such apps.

Amazing app for someone from the outside of the UK wanting to know what is going on inside. Super easy to navigate. Nice to the eye and no advertising? I must be dreaming.

This is one of those Apps that you use without thinking just concentrating on the content - as it should be! Well done

How an e-paper should be. Although i agree its a shame that it does not have a seperate icon.

Well done. I like especially the collection of pictures of the day. The only thing I miss, is a possibility to print out articles of interest.

.. then you could simply have removed the app. The new app is a glorified PDF reader with a nightmare of mixed and non-native UI components and font styles and the most unintuitve navigation possible. How could anyone call this an improvement to the lovingly hand crafted layouts we used to have in Editions? The only improvement I can see here is the lowered production costs by simply tossing a PDF into the App and hot inking to the articles already available in the Guardian app. And what's worse is that this "update" didn't even get any public beta testing either. Sad to see the Editions app deleted but this is a huge step back for The Guardian.

Each morning I enjoy a coffee and look forward to getting the guardian delivered to my IPad, but not anymore ... the new app version which downloaded today, is awful!! It looks like a bad website, is slow due to the too graphical content and navigation is horrible. I buy the daily subscription cause I don’t live in the Uk, and I like the lineal nature of the app so that i read all articles (even those that don’t interest me) so it feels like a newspaper not a website. Now I don’t know where to start and only a couple of articles seem to show so there is no overview. My tip - save your money and use the website, it’s much more readable. Unfortunately my year subscription also went through today, so I’m stuck with this ugly app for a year...

Optically this redesigned version is excellent. However, it is no longer possible to read the whole paper end to end without going back to the menu at the end of one section to select the next one. I find this extremely annoying. And the crossword checking functions just don‘t work at all. Impossible to check an answer or even find out whether you have successfully solved the whole thing. Please fix urgently!

I am not loving the new version of the app. Can’t read all the way through without going back to the menu and some sections seem to have disappeared. Any page with multiple photos (e.g. fashion articles, homes for sale) - can only see the first photo and can’t access any of the others. Cartoons are not visible at all. Please sort this out as soon as possible!!

Nice to look at (maybe a bit too colourful), good to read, fast, easy to navigate. One BIG backdrop: it shows up not as a stand-alone app icon, but in the iPads iOS 5 newsstand. I prefer direct access!
