The app does well, but I want to use it as an external monitor on the go. Thus I‘d like to choose an 3:4 aspect ratio, but the app letterboxes the 3:4 picture in a 16:9 container on a 3:4 screen. -So black bars everywhere. Otherwise very nicely made. The 4K upscale function is not optimized for text work e.g. MS Office, but playing switch games is very nice.
Dank iPadOS 17 und Orion kann ich mein iPad endlich als portable Monitor für meine XBOX Series S und meine Switch nutzen. Orion macht einem die Nutzung wirklich einfach. Alles was man zusätzlich an Hardware braucht ist eine USB-C HDMI Capture Card. Die bekommt man für ca 20€.
Das ist so eine App, die das iPad im Alltag noch viel wertvoller macht! Ich kann sie zusammen mit so einem HDMI-Stick als Bildschirm für z.B. einen Rechner (Mac mini), benutzen, der sich z.B. nach einem Update nicht mehr über die Bildschirmfreigabe ansprechen lässt. Oder für eine Videokamera perfekt auszurichten und noch viele weitere Sachen, die mir noch einfallen werden, vielen Dank dafür. Deshalb habe ich dann auch gleich die 6€ extra bezahlt, weil ich mich so gefreut habe! Daß der Programmierer Freude hat am Programmieren, merkt man schon beim ersten Start: Man muß das Paket erstmal auspacken, und dann in der Anleitung lesen, was man für die App benötigt. Ich habe mich schon lange nicht mehr so über eine App gefreut!!!
… you need to give Camera and Microphone permission. Could not get it to play audio from FireTv Stick (as a workaround: connect FireTv to a Bluetooth Audio System) You will see just a black screen without Camera permission ;-\
Now it’s the only software (besides FaceTime) using the iPadOS 17 feature to connect external webcams. This is really great.

Habe das iPad mit meiner Switch verbunden. Es hängt sich stark auf. Die App MoniCon ist viel besser!
Laptop angeschlossen, mehrere HDMI Kabel ausprobiert, keine Chance…
I tried to connect my switch to my ipad via an USBC capture card and HDMI cable… it just doesn’t work. Works with different apps but Orion lets me down on this one
…Fullscreen-Support. Only in 16:9 on an iPad with 4:3-Screen.
