Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD Game Positive Reviews
PEOPLE ARE GIVING THIS 5-STARS?!!Like many others that have played all of Ironhide’s games in the past, their games are awesome. They can be addicting at times, the art style is cool, the pop culture references are great, lots of replay ability ...etc make their games continually fun and top-notch amongst other Tower Defense games! Now for the VERY BAD review!!!! In all of Ironhide’s past games, $4.99 got you more then Kingdom Rush Vengeance has to offer and seeing that on day 1 for that reason I spent over $30 dollars buying all the Towers and all the Hero’s cause with all their other past games you got a “Horde/Endless Mode” which was well worth paying extra for everything in my opinion. I would spend countless hours playing “Horde/Endless Mode” seeing how many waves I could defeat, what different strategies I could use to beat my previous high score. That was the best part of their games, some even offered 2 Horde/Endless modes in the game and now they’re gone, nowhere to be seen!! They also put “Towers” behind a pay wall?!! You also pay $4.99 and you can’t even use all the upgrade options in the game with out you having to reset all your progress in order to choose other options. It’s a slap to the face with your money in their hands as they laugh at us with greed spewing out of all their orifices!! You’re not a triple-A studio Ironhide!! Total disappointment and disbelief in the direction this studio has gone!! All of you that gave this game 5-stars should be ashamed and embarrassed!!.Version: 1.5.4
A change up that’s enjoyable but sad to see some things go.A little late to the party on the review but the 4th Kingdom Rush is still as fun as the others, this time with a new approach making it more challenging yet more customizable. Towers now are on a set path with no branching upgrades at the final tier but instead each are their own progression. Sounds weird but there are tons of towers (some now paid for but more on that later) you can choose from to really change up your approach to factions and environments as you see fit. They also added 5 slots for said towers giving you a decent trade off but again provides a constraint where not all towers are at your disposal. Paid towers as I mentioned before are a new option which puts a bad taste in my mouth personally, paving the way for more transactions if received positively. I’d like to see this option removed or tweaked to be cheaper. The towers are expensive and plentiful making most long for the awesome power they provide. Some of the towers don’t even really do much better but it’s still something that should be earned not bought. Final not and very personal is no enemy encyclopedia… of all the things to take away you took away the satisfaction of reading entries of enemies and unlocking all the mystery slots that kept me guessing what was next. This series means so much to me and change is good but why take away content or put it behind the paywall? Hero’s are one thing but towers is taking things far..Version: 1.16.00
From a very beloved fan who has played this even before it was out on mobileDear ironhide I LOVEEEEEEE the kingdom rush franchise and have played it for as long as I can remember. I would just like to thank you for creating this awesome franchise I so dearly love. I have to admit kingdom rush vegance is probably my favorite one so far.(even though I would much rather play as a good guy rather than a villain) but despite my personal tastes I love it. Not only are the graphics better than the previous games but the game play is way less aggravating. The reason why it’s less aggravating is because of the fact that you no longer have to get three stars on every level for upgrades to your reinforcements, spells, and towers just to stay ahead of the curve in difficulty. I like the fact that you made a set number of upgrade points even if you only get one star on a level. But there are a few things I think you should add to the game. Unlike the last three games in the franchise there were no side quests after you beat the campaign not was their an endless mode. Because of the fact I beat the campaign today I was a little disheartened to see that their were no side quests or an endless mode. But please do not make the side quests extremely difficult to do like in the last three kingdom rush games because I am still trying to beat some of the side quests in kingdom rush:frontiers. Other than that keep doing what your doing ironhide!!!! P.S. KingdomRush:vengeance isn’t the end of the franchise is it!? Sincerely, Dylan Angelucci.Version: 1.5.4
The Dark Side?So in past games, you played as the good guys as in most games. This time though, you get to play as the bad guy you were fighting before?! That is what this game is all about and makes it a different experience and VERY entertaining. I have well over 16 hours played and yes I bought the dragon hero but only because I never bought him in the past and honestly have always wanted him but never bought him. I beat 55% of the game so far WITHOUT using the hero so no in-game purchases and even went back and replayed all of the levels with the dragon as my hero and beat the same levels a 2nd time just to see if it was pay to win. It's not, but he does make the game a lot more fun when the enemies run away in fear and I get a good laugh out of it. Yes, run away puny mortals mwuahahahahahahaha!!! Anywho, I'd give it a 10/10 for graphics cartoon-like graphics but very crisp and clean. As for gameplay 10/10, because not only do you have to place towers correctly but you have to time your spells and choose where to place your hero and when and makes the game challenging but not too difficult. As for the sound quality, 10/10 It seems to me REALLY nice and the animations are smooth amd crisp no lag what so ever so 10/10 for frame rate. As for storyline?... Yeah I'd have to rate it 0/10 so dull and plain it's so boring but the graphics make up for it... Kidding! I give it a 10/10 as well has some good ol' fashion slight comedy along the storyline on top of actually telling a tale, no spoilers found here! ;) Anywho I'd ultimately rate this game 10/10! So go pick it up!!!.Version: 1.3
A Great TD game with a few flawsI’ll start with the good then the bad. This game is unique compared to the previous games for example you could upgrade the archer tower to a specialization in previous installments, in this game you can choose a loadout of five towers total and each tower has its own traits like the shadow archer, goblin boomerang, and bone tower. You have three options for each tower type for a total of 20 different, unique towers. This game plays the same with no noticeable bugs and look great, you also play as a villain. Now for the flaws, just like previous installments you can pay for hero's but now you can also buy towers. All villains have passives now, like the orc can regen hp when close to death. The problem is the paid villains have better passives, stats and abilities also the same passive is used three times out of 9 villains, the ability to teleport or traverse the map quickly and of course the most expensive villain you can buy is not only the strongest but has a passive where you get more gold when enemies die next to it and the said villains is worth more than the game itself. I can forgive the paid towers because you can try some of them on the challenge maps but still the towers are too expensive 4.99 for the most expensive to 2.99 for the next and they are on sale! You don't have to pay for the villains or the towers but still you could buy this game 4 times or pay for all towers and villains. I still recommend this if you want a fun and unique TD experience.Version: 1.5.4
MisledThis game is fun BUT the description of it definitely misleads the customer. It states that for $4.99 US dollars, you’ll be able to play with 15 heroes and 20 towers. When the truth is that for that price you only get 3 heroes and 11 towers. All the other heroes and towers have to be purchased. Also this would be less of an issue if prices for them weren’t absurd. Some heroes and towers by themselves cost more than the base game, which makes no sense and any combination of either a tower or heroes, will cost you more than the base game. Midway through the game you will have unlocked every hero and tower included as well as have fully done your upgrades. If you changed heroes you will have also fully leveled them all up by this point. Why do I say this, because at this point in the game you will have completed the progression system and will feel as if the only reason it is complete is because you’re not willing to invest more money into the game. Lastly, I just want to say this wouldn’t be a big deal if the description just properly let people know what they’re actually getting for the price of the game. I do think the base game is worth the price of it, def worth more than a 3 star rating. Its just that as someone who came from a free to play kingdom rush, I honestly initially thought that this sequel had to be paid for due to having more playable heroes and towers and I must take that into account for my rating as it was a disappointment once i started playing the game..Version: 1.14.5
Great game, don’t really mind the monetizingThis game is pretty good for a mobile game especially with the art style and care put into this game. The monetizing for DLCs is not cheap but still in the reasonable range of 8 bucks and it’s mainly for people who enjoyed the game plenty and would love to spend more time into the game, even if it comes at a price. It’s rather fair when compared to some other monetization tactics corporations and even some indie devs use to squeeze every little dollar out of the consumer. Now like I said, the game is really nice and I recommend to people who enjoyed the a variety of choices for their own play style. The game isn’t perfect, but it shouldn’t be expected to be, but it still comes with an important feature missing and bugs that can definitely ruin the enjoyment. Now the first one is simple, just add a bestiary. They did respond to the player base and said something along the lines of, it takes up too much space. But the kingdom rush community loves having bestiaries as they had it for the first three games, but not for kingdom rush vengeance or alliance. The second and third ones are audio and a major gameplay bug. When loading into the game sometimes the audio will repeat and cut off leading to weird sounds, but it stops once you go into the game. The last bug I encounter was when I fought one of the bosses, the T-Rex and some other time I cannot remember. Now at the very end of the stage, the game totally freezes and you cannot do anything. This was super annoying but the thing is, it gave me the achievement for beating the boss on Game Center, but it didn’t show when I reloaded into the game that I beat the level. I really hope you fix this bug so others don’t have to go through that like I did, and if you read this entire essay about Kingdom Rush: Vengeance, kudos to you..Version: 1.16.02
Amazing game worth the money, also suggestionsI absolutely love the kingdom rush series and have played it multiple times, and this game was amazing, however I have a few suggestions. First, where are the save files? I had a file I worked on for months then came back to the game a bit later and wanted to restart. The only way you can do that in Vengeance is to reset all progress. Second, more free heroes? I loved the variety in heroes from Origins and I hoped for more free heroes. I also wish there could be special heroes you get for different accomplishments. Maybe a hero you get with all 3 stars and the 2 extra challenges on every level, or with gems. There have been times where I wanted a hero but I had no way to know if it was worth it. I didn’t want to end up buying it and finding out I don’t like it. Maybe you could use a paid hero for 300 gems every stage? Speaking of which, I feel a bit ripped off. I did pay 5$ for a mobile game, expecting no ads and no micro transactions. Sure, the ads aren’t forced, but you still have to watch them to get gems. There is also micro transactions for gems. I can see micro transactions in free games but paying 5$ I expected the game to not be pay to win (you can get special items in battle for gems). I can understand maybe like 5 paid heroes and towers but 10 paid heroes and only 3 free? The towers are very balanced with 11 free and 7 paid, but I think there should be more free heroes. Other than these flaws, the game is beautiful, strategic, balanced, and very fun. I probably seem harsh, but I want my favorite mobile game series to be the best it can be! Amazing work to the developers!.Version: 1.9.5
It hurts me to give it three.Let me start out by saying, I’ve been a kingdom rush fan since day one. They are by far the best mobile games on the market. Vengeance had so much potential yet it was squandered. Let’s start with the pros. First, the game looks great. It is very visually appealing and is very detailed. Second, is there are SOME good towers in this game and they really play of your nostalgia. For instance, the Dark Knights or the Harassers were some of the coolest, yet most annoying enemies to go against, and to have them in your arsenal is beyond epic. The third, is that it has some cool level design. But in my opinion, it seemed that this game was a BIG cash grab. Just playing on people’s nostalgia to buy it. Firstly, let’s talk about the towers you have to pay for. That is completely unacceptable. There is one they sell for around $7!!!! Second, is the terribly boring enemies. They had so many chances to put in cool enemies yet they failed. Third, is the lack of content. There were very few levels to play in and no post campaign levels when they first came out. And then they release the most terrible DLC with 3 new levels. It is SO bad. The enemies are just annoying and really break the mechanics of the game. Lastly, is wasted potential. There were so many cooler towers and hero’s they could’ve come up with. In all, this is a great game, but it does not match up the the Kingdom Rush Standard..Version: 1.6.1
1 Step Forward 2 Steps BackI’ve played all the Kingdom Rush games and they’re all great. However, this game misses out on a few crucial things. One, there’s no enemy encyclopedia anymore. Why? Two, there’s no endless mode anymore. Why? Once you beat the game there’s nothing to do and this leads me into my next two points. Beating the game on casual and on impossible difficulty has the same looking flag on the mission. There’s no achievements for beating it on harder difficulties either. Again, why? This could’ve been a good game lengthener and this brings me to my final critique which is game length. It’s super short and it’s especially noticeable since there’s no horde mode once you beat the campaign and there’s no incentive or achievement to go back and beat things on impossible difficulty. The game is great fun before you finish the final mission and all the levels are all challenging in their own ways (especially when you start mixing different tower and hero combinations). However, this doesn’t change the fact that this game doesn’t feel quite complete (even though I have all the hero’s and towers). Too short and it’s missing some features from the prior games. No bonus stages. No horde mode. No really difficult achievements to earn. The reason this stuff drives me the wrong way is because they’re even selling towers now so they’re profiting more off the game but it feels like less of a product to the user. Great game but for the amount of micro transactions, way too short lived. If you buy this game, don’t get any of the hero’s or towers, not worth it..Version: 1.5.2
Love itFirst off wanted to start by saying AMAZING game I’ve played every TD game made by these developers. This TD was much more challenging the the previous 2 KR games. One thing I like the turret wheel kind like picking a load out. However it makes me miss being able pick two towers in game. I loved the hero’s in the game the unique passives and new abilities are fun to use. One of my concerns is how many purchases were available in this one. I know games have to make money and the campaign was definitely beatable with the basic towers. But I would be devastated if future games couldn’t be beat unless u spent money. That’s all for now just want say amazing game and keep adding more. Update... love the new lvls they came out with and towers. I sincerely hope there are more lvls the only bummer for the winter campaign there wasn’t any end comic seen where u catch the next hint of the villains plan. additional the boss for the winter campaign was pretty weak the lvl itself was much more of a challenge then the actual boss. I will say I like how they put in the yeti as a hero. That’s all for now I really hope the next update is coming soon.Version: 1.7.2
Feel kind of ripped offI just bought KRV a few days ago. I am familiar with the KR series, played it on and off over the years. I love the games, the art style, the mechanics, it’s all great. However, I take issue with the pay-wall that is currently in place. As I understand the game normally costs $5 on the AppStore, which is totally fair for a great game. Once I got the game though, I found there to be an astonishing amount of content locked behind a pay-wall. A few things behind a paywall as dlc would make sense, but so much? At first I thought “it might be worth a few extra dollars for some cool content “. Then I saw the “discounted “ price tag. $31 plus tax to receive all of the content, minimum, on an app that already costs $5? That’s ridiculous. I was also extremely disappointed to see that less than a quarter of the hero’s were unlockable through gameplay, and so near the start as well. I would have hoped to see a few more heros to collect. It would give the game something more to drive players to achieve. The fact that so few of the heros are unlockable and the price to unlock all the content is so steep, makes players feel like they have been ripped-off, and makes me start to regret my purchase..Version: 1.9.4
Fun but getting too expensiveHonestly Kingdom Rush is hands down my FAVORITE tower defense series. They offer some fun levels, some challenges, and the always loveably Easter eggs throughout the campaign. This latest game, however, requires you to pay to buy new heroes (as they have in the past) AND use almost half of the towers to choose from. It seems each new game requires more purchases than the previous one. The first was free to play, but pay for new heroes. Second was pay to play and pay for heroes. Now pay for game, heroes and towers. Heroes being purchased, ok, that’s been established. But a bummer about the towers. I can’t necessarily justify the expense on top of already paying to play the game in the first place... it’s “Tower Defense”. The towers shouldn’t be an extra expense. Also, since this is my favorite TD series, I’m generally willing to buy the heroes in a “bundle” deal. I did when the latest game first came out. But now there are a few more added in the latest update, and they’re not unlocked for me. Meaning once again, I’d have to spend more money on something I thought I essentially already paid for (again, the bundle was for all of the heroes). Was hoping they’d honor the purchases made before the update, and allow access to the new heroes too..Version: 1.7.2
They Did it again, you should buy it!I’ve been playing Kingdom Rush and it’s sequels since the first one came out years ago. Unlike all the other apps on my phone, I haven’t deleted them, and still play when I’m bored. When I heard Ironhide was making a fourth game where I get to play as the baddies, I was already counting down the days until it came out. I haven’t played much, but from what I have played, I can tell you it has everything you should expect of KingdomRush games, or any tower defense games, and even more so. The tower variety is awesome, and while it’s upsetting I can’t play all 16 towers for free (5 are premium), I can understand why it has to be that way. Personally, I refrain from using premiums and items when first clearing levels, but I did buy them, and I gotta admit, they’re really fun to mess around with. If you liked the old games or are just discovering the series, I highly recommend you pay the 5 dollars for this game, they give you way more than just 5 dollars worth for this game. Plus, the mini campaigns will add even more content, so we’ll have something to look forward to later!.Version: 1.1
Why just whyI love this game franchise but this has issues; 1: bugs, lots of bugs on bolgers throne the mecha Dwarf MK.2 will duplicate itself when damaged EVERY SINGLE TIME. also kill chomp bots and clock work spider sometimes does not give gold, and sometimes foes will become invincible, and sometimes if you use asra or oloch then they won’t move when you tell them to move and hero’s abilities will be wasted if you move them a tiny bit. In the previous games they will save there ability but not here. 2: micro transactions now, I was never one to complain about mt (micro transactions, but you have to pay for soooooooooooooooo many towers AND hero’s! This is unbelievable! I paid like what, five bucks for the game? And now 50 more bucks for the rest!? Still, it’s fine (to an extent) 3: difficulty even on casual the post game is ridiculously hard (except for the ice one i beat those levels with only magic and beat every level on me first try) also some towers are OP and other are trash and, normal is 10x harder the casual and beating casual let’s you play impossible. Beating the difficulty for beginners let’s you play the difficultly for elite tryhards. Positives; 1: graphics the graphics look great I love the art style 2: gameplay this is also great and addicting. That is most of my positives about this final notes: I have been in love with this franchise for so long there are few games in on earth better than theses games but here?! Achevments?! Mainly obscure eater eggs of stupid and long to get. I still ove this game but these are issues with it. make more TD games ironhide but stop going in this direction. Many people on yt have said it I so have I. I do like that they kept the hero spell thing from origins so keep that. Take notes, and keep working, and make great games..Version: 1.12.6
This Game is by far the best ever!I have been a huge fan of the Kingdom Rush series of games science I was like four. I remember when the original one came out. I have bought, played, and loved all of the versions, and I highly recommend them. To me, when I saw this game, the price of buying it was a no-brainer. I new that 3 bucks is totally worth all of the fun, and versatility I would get from this game. To be quite frank, I would buy this one, (it is probably one of the best one’s) and then I would check out all of the other kingdom rushes. They are sooooo great! Anyway, back to vengeance. This one is cool because you get to play as the villain, (Vez’Nan) And I love the fact that you can choose which towers you use, and all of the different enemies and stages. Also, to someone like me that has played all of the games, (including iron marines, which I highly recommend) I start to recognize some of the hero’s and stuff. It just reminds me of all of the time I have played these games. Overall, if you are on the fence about purchasing this game, just do it. It is so worth it and you will not be disappointed!.Version: 1.9.0
Awesome Game! But..This game is a blast! I have played every game Iron Hide has made and I have yet to be disappointed! Although the game is not free, this are the best $4.99 plus tax I had spent. You get a tower defense game that is repayable with different difficulties and achievements to get, some are pop culture references (that’s another thing I love!) as the title says there’s something “bad” and that is since I have an iPhone XS Max, the notch gets on the way blocking a part of the map which can be frustrating because sometimes the entrances for my base are covered by the notch I’m not able to deploy my heroes or bombs to stop those pesky stragglers that made it past my towers while they were busy targeting the rest. Maybe make the game fill the screen and hide the notch? Idk. Another minor problem I have is that you buy the game for $4.99 and some of the towers or heroes you might want cost more money and some of those add ons are $6.99. I would love for Iron Hide to maybe cut the price of those add ons in half (because you already spent $4.99 to be able to play the game) or charge a bit more for the game (maybe like $9.99 and include everything) This game is great I recommend everyone to try it!.Version: 1.3
Great game & don’t complaint for IAPKingdom rush is my favorite iOS game. I have all series and still keep them on iPad. The game itself has great quality as previous one like it always. I understand ppl don’t like IAP, however it is not same case for kingdom rush. Premium heroes and towers are nice to have but it is not necessary to beat game. The devs bring lots more towers compare to last 3 games. It is not surprised that they charge few of them. I usually purchase some heroes I liked right away to support dev, then purchased all of rest once they are sale later on. It will be the same for tower this time. Some people think they already pay for the game then should get all of the content. But come on, those premium heroes and towers are just DLC which available instantly when game come out. WHY it has to be free? If you can’t afford it, that’s fine. Please don’t complain it any more. Last we all know devs will have update with new campaigns and heroes. Guessing this time if they will release more towers. I am willing to pay if those are cool..Version: 1.2
Mostly adore it. Bought everything.Having played every installment of Kingdom Rush, I think this one is overall best. The tower and world designs are awesome. It’s full of small details and Easter Eggs. The tower designs are excellent. I like the spooky Halloween themed ones so much, I try to use them all even on levels when there are better towers. The starter hero is weak, unlike the awesome starter elf you got in Origins. It’s definitely cruddy that you’re presented early on with a limited-time decision to make 2 purchases that raise the price of the game +700%. I can’t recommend this game to friends because what if they don’t enjoy the heroes/towers like I do... at $35+ bucks it’s steep and you need to give new players time to fall in love with the game before you throw that decision at them. Otherwise it feels manipulative like the Chinese knock-offs of KR that litter the App Store. Keep up the great work, and please don’t become another EA Games. I play this series to escape all the dollar signs and that shady casino feeling..Version: 1.9.5
Love the concept, wish it was harderUpdate: $8 for new content is ridiculous guys... that’s more than the entire game. Honestly, the content needs to be commensurate with the price. Only 5 new levels? Just ridiculous. Come on. I have been playing through these tower defense games from ironhide for some time. I have bought them all. This is a fun game, the best graphics they have developed, and the levels are intricate and detailed. I recommend it, but I think is better as the either the first game or the last game to play from the series. First game because it is easier, last game because it is their best looking work and most interesting game play. The following is more for the developers. In summary, the positives: The ability to change towers is pretty creative and fun. The graphics are smoother and more detailed than any of your other games, it is a good looking game. Almost every level has several easter eggs that are interesting to look for which is fun. The story, while not exactly captivating, it well flushed-out And the negatives: Easy, even on “impossible”, compared to previous games. Other games I had really struggled at certain points, not so with this. Everything is expensive. Additional towers, characters, for a game that is not a cheap game (almost cost as much as the game itself). Gems can be earned that can be used for power ups, and those are pretty expensive, or rather slow to accumulate. No strategy guide and encyclopedia like in previous games. What I’d like more of: More bosses, those are pretty fun. Reoccuring characters, towers, even if for money. Cut scenes. More crazy set up on the challenge levels, like only being able to use soldiers on a map, or only two towers, or level specific towers. What I’d like less of: Tutorial, I’d like to skip it. Slow ramp up, the ability to have upgradable towers for the initial levels would be better..Version: 1.16.00
Huge fan but this one slips a bitStarting off by saying I've played every single kingdom rush game and this is the only series of apps I've ever thought were worth purchasing. I'd rate all the previous ones 5 stars. That being said, this one is a bit of a miss for me. I don't really see this as a cash grab like other reviewers since I never felt the want to buy extras. But I agree with others that the game was much too short. With the new upgrade system, there's also no incentive to do the challenge modes and complete to 100 which I always did with previous games. The towers were a little underwhelming and I didn't think any of their abilities were really that fun to use like previous games. They got rid of the tower upgrade tiers which made me lose a feeling of progression in the game. I think biggest letdown for me was the new tower system which brought down available towers during actual gameplay from 8 variants to 5. Visually the game is still top notch though and the concept of playing as the villain was well done. Overall, a bit disappointed but still a loyal fan to the series..Version: 1.7.2
GreedI love ironhide and I am especially a fan of their kingdom rush games. The original was fun and basic. It cost only a few bucks and the in app purchases were completely optional heroes. This was the standard for the first three games. However, with this game ironhide got a little greedy. There are five towers that you can buy to add into your game and in my opinion it creates a tough choice. On the one hand, it cost around 20 dollars for all of the towers. On the other, it makes it feel as though I’m missing a huge facet of the game by not purchasing them. I like vengeance. Maybe even more than the previous games. I’ve even been anticipating it since a few months after the release of origins. But the price of these towers just feels like my kingdom rush games have become another cash grab. I know you make your games relatively cheap. And we all have to make money somehow. But one of the towers alone cost two more dollars than the game itself. I love you ironhide and your kingdom rush games. But I really think the towers should be cheaper or at least introduce a way to buy all the towers at once at a reduced cost..Version: 1.3
A new twist and another great installment in the series! When I first heard another kingdom rush game was out I was excited, but also questioning how they were going to make this one even better than Origins, which was even better than the past games itself. My questions immediately went away after I opened the app and tried it. For starters, The artwork was much better, and the game ran even smoother. I love the ability to customize your tower layout too. It’s a great twist on the original games that makes this one unique. I haven’t finished the game yet, but it’s even harder than the past few, which I love. When the game is challenging, it makes you happier and satisfied when you finally finish the level you’ve been stuck on. The kingdom rush games never fail to surprise me and I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who loves strategy and tower defense games. 10/10, but if your new to the games, I would start with the original and work my way through. Love this game and the whole series!.Version: 1.2
Best of the series in Gameplay but worst in game purchasable contentThe game is great and by far the best of the series. I like how you can now customize what towers you use in the game which makes for a great way to change your strategy based on the level. I also love the feel of the game, now that your the Villains we get to see their side of the story which is very entertaining. I also love the little Easter eggs to other series that gives you something to do while the battle is going on. However the draw back of this game is that you have to not only purchase some hero’s but now even the towers? it seems pretty greedy for the amount of content there is. If they were .99 cents maybe that’d be better but really I think it doesn’t feel I should pay 30$ for the whole game. Heck you could keep the prices if you would give us a way to achieve some of the towers or hero’s. Either by achieving some goals or completely levels in certain ways or just saving gems for the towers. This would increase the time to play the game and you’d get the whole game..Version: 1.2
Plz continueI really enjoy your games, I can’t wait for the next one to come out already, I have be a fan of your game for ages, and I’m getting into building comicy games like you guys. I never want you to change your style. I enjoy how this is funny even thought it is the coolest game ever. I think I can say that this is the best tower defense game out there. The games are huge, and just the best. Thank you, you guys have made 5 of the best mobile games I’ve ever played. Also, I do like how you changed the good guys to the bad guys. Another cool thing you could do is make it so you have to attack and get past the flags. As you go you unlock better enemies. You can destroy towers with certain enemies like a monster called “Shotgun” a creature small, has 135 health, very stealthy, low shield and once it reaches the nearest tower, it grows Hughes and just eats the tower, Michael on it for a bit, then explodes. Another cool thing you could do is a path block. It blocks the path and your army is trapped so it builds up to form bigger hordes..Version: 1.7.2
Very polished, lacking end game.I have played and love each of the Ironhide S.A. games. The graphics and animations on Vengeance are superb. I love the new tower mechanic. There are also a variety of new mechanics with the stages and enemies that keep things fresh. On the downside...I was really disappointed when I finished the game and no bonus or endless levels popped up. I had not read any of the reviews yet, so I did not know that this was lacking. Hopefully this can be added in the future. Though I will do them just because they are fun, it is also less fun to not get additional stars for doing the second and third challenges for each stage. I’d love for the talent tree to be a bit more expansive and allow for more stars on the challenges. Lastly, the heroes. While each fun in their own right, only having three feels like a letdown. That goes back to the original game and just seems like a step backwards. Still, for its shortcoming in those departments, it was still a blast to play, and I will continue my way through all of the challenges for some time to come..Version: 1.2
Amazing game!I have never really played these games before. Not much of a phone gamer. But let me tell you my friends... I got so hooked to this game that I ended up finishing the game on normal 3 staring everything. Oh and btw all in 10 hours straight with breaks to eat. The game is super fun and addicting honestly and super worth 5$. There is still much I haven’t done. Tons of achievements and 2 challenge versions of all the levels. Now for the criticism I’d say this. I don’t really care about spending money on games so I actually ended up from the beginning unlocking all the towers and champions, but honestly it is wayyy too expensive. The game itself is 5$ the extra stuff could be around 10$ max id say and that’s being generous. The towers are pretty unbalanced as well IMO the dark forest is basically a must have always and there is nothing that comes close to how effective it is at holding enemies back. My biggest issue with the gameplay is that I bought all champions as well to have some fun. But the only true options if you have all unlocked are the 3 Dragons. Champions not being able to move thru terrain is ridiculous and the black dragon has a basic spell that kills almost everything in the whole screen on a low cooldown. So there isn’t many viable options for champions either. Over all tho the game is fantastic, super fun and addicting and definitely has some challenge to it..Version: 1.10.2
Another amazing game by Ironside just wish it had an endless modeI have played and beaten all the games in the kingdom rush series and this one by far is the best we’ve seen. The biggest and most notable change is to the tower systems with the ability to swap out different types of towers to fit your play style. I have seen lots of reviews condemning ironside for adding in paid towers to the game but having played and beat the game with all the basic towers before opting to buy new ones with money the game is totally playable and enjoyable this is not a paywall experience. The only complaint I have had since the first kingdom rush is that I wish it had a “sandbox” style endless mode with a few maps to choose from. I can’t tell you how many times I just really start getting into a certain level just for it to end at wave 15. If you have any doubts about this game don’t and buy it immediately. Hands down the best tower defense experience.,.Version: 1.5.2
Worth the moneyThis is a great game! Kingdom Rush has always been a good series, and this is no exception. The unique secrets and hero traits are fun to play with, and it’s cool to play as the bad guy. This game gives a pretty good challenge, too, which is nice, because some tower defense games can be too easy, while others are impossibly hard. This game finds a good balance. Some heroes and towers are paid, which I completely understand and am fine with. My only problem is that nearly all of the heroes are paid, when they are the most fun to use! I personally bought the black dragon, and loved it. However, I feel like more of the heroes should be free. The tower variety is nice but they sometimes feel obsolete. In the last levels I was only using the same few towers over and over, which may just be a personal preference. Another issue, if you can call it that, is I wish the game was longer. It was super fun and I loved playing it, and I was sad to see that I had beaten it. Other than that, this game is definitely worth the time!.Version: 1.7.2
Amazing game but one problemWhile Ironhide has made the best mobile games by putting a ton of effort into each and every one there is one thing that makes the game fall below the rest (not by a lot though still 5/5 for gameplay and story). The problem is that it seems to much like iron marines, theres no enemy encyclopedia (which is probably due to game length), there is no way to check the exact stats of the hero’s or towers except for in game (which makes it much harder to consider buying one), and instead of adding more levels they gave you an impossible difficulty which is pointless considering how you have to beat the campaign to unlock and on top of that there’s no proof of beating the game on a harder difficulty which makes playing on then pointless. Not having the encyclopedia or elite levels was a big letdown for me and is my reasoning for giving four stars however I love the new tower mechanic and I love how every tower has 3 upgrades now so outside of these issues it is truly great game and still worth the buy..Version: 1.5.4
DLC? Post Campaign?I want to start off by saying this is nearly my favorite kingdom rush game, second to only origins. When you manage to look past the extra paid towers and heroes, it is a wonderful game. Except it’s lacking the Kingdom Rush staple: a post campaign that is nearly as long as the actual campaign. It’s what keeps people playing for months and years on end. The Aquatic expansion was a good start, and I’m hoping Ironhide looks at it that way as well. Perhaps Oloch finally rises up against you and you have to defeat him. Maybe Denas’s heir starts to challenge you. Maybe you move south looking to fight your way to hammer hold in the wake of Malagar’s defeat in frontiers. There are so many possibilities and so much potential in this game it is impossible to ignore. I have been a fan of Kingdom Rush since she it was a flash game and I can tell you that the only thing this game needs to skyrocket is more post campaign. I hope you see this Ironhide. Thank you so much for another incredible game, I hope you take it farther, and good luck on “A Rift In Time”..Version: 1.6.5
My prayers have been answered!!I love this game!!! I’ve always wanted a evil kingdom rush and this one does not disappoint. There are a variety of towers to chose from although some have to be bought with real $$$, same goes for the villains which I’m a little disappointed in considering you only get 3 free ones and the rest are costly. My only problem with the game is that I feel like I didn’t get enough for the $4 I spent on this game. The game has a regular campaign but after that, there’s nothing! No side mission or survival games like in the other 3. All I ask is for more free towers and heroes and more content. Also another idea that I thought would be a cool feature is a sort of sandbox mode to the game where you can do whatever you want choose which enemies you defend against. Nevertheless they did an excellent job on this game and I can’t wait for the next one!!!.Version: 1.12.1
I would’ve never knownI saw this game in the App Store omg I wanna get this game so bad, but it was 4.99. I didn’t get the game and saw Iron Marines was out which was free. The moment I finished the first level I hated it. I waited for another tower defense game to come out because I’m obsessed with them and they got a little more popular. I got Bloons td 6 and it Hooked me for a long time. I eventually I became bored and had no clue what to do so I bought this game. I went through the tutorial and I saw you were the bad guy. I didn’t know this till I got the game. Not only that but they beat bloons td6 by having upgrades for your hero and other stuff. They also beat bloons td6 by having more towers not just 4. Not only that but they beat the other kingdom rush’s by not making it as hard. I’d have to say the bad thing about this game is that it is to short. I finished the game in a couple of hours so I’m waiting for a kingdom rush vengeance origins!.Version: 1.5.8
Another amazing game! But it’s missing one thing.I’d like to start of saying I’v played every Kingdom Rush game to date and I loved all of them. In fact I 100% complete every single one. The one thing I looked forward to in all of these games was the bonus levels after you beat the campaign. These were always super challenging and great fun after you’ve beat all the campaigns iron challenges and such. But they seem to have left them out of this game and that was super disappointing to me. While playing through I would look at spots on the map and say, “That’ll be an extra level for sure” but unfortunately there were none. Please I would love to see the extra levels you guys come up with, especially with all these new towers you have added. (which I love by the way) Overall still a great game, and highly recommend playing if you love tower defense games..Version: 1.5.4
ExpensiveThat’s the gist. You end up paying around $60 for the complete experience as of writing this in March 2024. I don’t know how you should feel about it. I’m not a whale -my excuse was I got an ultra primo iPad, and I guess I wanted to put an ultra-primo game on it. This is the most expensive game I’ve ever bought on the App Store. Thing is, the quality is on par with like a 3DS game or even some switch games. On the App Store however, I don’t know, it does feel pretty brazen, so up to you. The art style’s great but it’s the animations that make me smile. They clearly put alot of heart into them. They can stand to lower the price by $20 though. I feel like $40 should be the limit. Because at $60 you’re in console territory. The App Store only has maybe three modern console games and compared to those, the higher ups for this dev studio may need to eat a slice of humble pie. And yes it’s a five star game, but four for the price..Version: 1.15.07
New UpdateThe new update is amazing. I love everything about the tower. It has very enjoyable abilities, such as the one that summons a dune terror and another that instantly kills a large group of enemies. The enemies are also amazing but dangerous, which makes the levels very difficult (which is good). The map designs are awesome like always as well. However, there is something I’m a little disappointed about. It’s probably a very small thing, but crucial to me. The hero is cool with his ranged attack and abilities, but there is an ability missing from the original. The original heals allies and I know this is small but we added these other abilities over that one, which seems unfinished. I love how ironhide is bringing back old things, but I feel like those things will feel unfinished without their original abilities. But whatever, ironhide still did an amazing job. They deserve the money..Version: 1.15.01
Huge fan, butI have played hundreds of hours of the Kingdom Rush games (the first 3). This installment is OK for one single play through, but there’s something missing that I can’t fully grasp. Towers no longer have dual conversions, so you,re stuck with a single tower to upgrade. Instead, we have more towers to choose from (the good ones are behind a disgusting pay wall), but they must be selected before the match begins. It appears that we have more towers to use, but in reality, we have less options during gameplay. Enemies no longer stand out individually, but rather tend to all blend in together according to their class. In previous installments, enemies stood out. Maps are OK, but not fun enough to replay. No endless versions of a single map (all maps should have an endless mode at this point in game development). It’s a Kingdom Rush game that has lost it’s soul..Version: 1.7.2
Don’t listen to bad reviews.Basically this game is 5/5 hands down. I’ve played the other 3 kingdom rush games so many times that I was finally wanting something new. Then a 4th kingdom rush was announced a while back and here it is. Extremely satisfied with it, can’t wait for the bonus campaigns to come out too. Now people complain about towers that have to be bought but they are highly unnecessary. I finished the game already one highest difficulty with 3 stars on all campaigns plus iron and heroic challenges without much issue since I’m seasoned at the rush games at this point. But with decent planning and good strategy this game is DEFINITELY NOT pay to win. Now one thing is some powers of the towers feel underpowered such as the shadow archer crow. But other wise it’s not that bad since u can replace shadow archers easily with boomerang or the bone tower. Anyways great and hope for more soon..Version: 1.2
There game is fun but has issues of courseThe graphics are nice and the gameplay is similar to what I remembered when I played Kingdom Rush a few years ago but there are some annoying things with the game. First, the rounds take a really long time. There needs to be some kind of speed up option otherwise you’re looking at 15 or even 20 minute rounds. Second, the premium towers are severely underpowered. I get that they shouldn’t make the game too easy, but if I’m spending real money on an in game item, I do expect some kind of competitive advantage. I spent $13 to unlock all the towers only for like 1 or 2 of them to be viable. I fear the situation is the same for the heroes which I won’t be buying. Third is less of an issue and just more of expectation which is more game modes and more varied gameplay. My biggest issue is with the premium towers though..Version: 1.6.5
Just Like Old TimesThis whole saga is just amazing, I recently downloaded it after seeing it in an ad and I thought eh whatever, but when I started playing it, not only did the game’s upgrade options, cool heroes, concepts, cameos, nostalgia ugh. This game is pact full of memories. The heroes from kingdom rush are now bosses, and the bosses are now heroes... not only that but the people you have to fight are all troops from kingdom rush, frontiers, and even origins. And absolutely love the bone hart cameo, he’s my favorite hero. I’m aware I’m fanboying a little but still. If any of you are OG’s this game will leave a smile on your face on EACH level, and it’s not even bosses nor troops... THE CAMEOS. I don’t wanna spoil any of the GOOD stuff but all the cameos are practically listed in the achievements log. The whole point of this is to say. THIS... GAME, SAGA, FRANCHISE... RULES!!!!!!!!!!.Version: 1.10.5
Another Great GameThey’ve done it again! Another great game by ironhide. I’ve played every single one of their games, and they never seem to disappoint. I love how they have used a colored map in this one, and some more changes, such as no more tower upgrade paths but instead you can choose different towers. I don’t like that change much, but maybe because I’m not used to that. The only complaint that I have is that there are no extra missions once you have finished the campaign, unlike the other games. The upgrade tree should have a few more upgrades, but everything else is fine. They probably don’t have extra missions because of how new this game is, but hopefully they will be added in the near future. Nonetheless, great game, and if you like it, you will enjoy their other games as well. Keep it up, Ironhide!.Version: 1.5.4
Such a waste.I’ve been a fan of Kingdom Rush since the very beginning.. I still remember the first time I played it years ago.. so when I saw this new version I was SO hyped. While the game does look very appealing and felt a bit nostalgic... While the new mechanics aren’t bad and it gives it a new aspect.. I felt like game was very “slow” ever the added after game level weren’t entertaining. I couldn’t help be bored before I got to the end. However I just couldn’t help feeling that this game was nothing more than a money grab. Not only do you need to be a few dollars if you want another Hero now you have to buy towers as well.. had the actual game been fun like it’s predecessors maybe I wouldn’t mind so much. But my very first thoughts before I even played my first stage was how baffling it was to have to pay SO much money if you want all the towers other than the ones they give you. It pains me to see such a game with so much potential be reduced to this..Version: 1.6.5
I didn’t want it to give the game a four. When I played the first three games I love them i gave them all a 5 because they are the best towers defense games in my opinion. The reason I’m giving this a four because of the cost I’m talking about how much the games cost to get it it’s the towers it ridiculous how you have to pay to get seven towers for 15$. I loved the game from the start the map the towers the map designs and then my happy smiling face when to a pretty sad face when saw all the towers when I went to the end I saw seven towers that cost money I checked all the prices and saw in total you have to pay 15$ even tho I used three dollars to get the game I wish it was like the other three where unlock each tower for free but no this one is different..Version: 1.9.6
Bar not as highThe gameplay is there, the great art is there... but somehow this falls short of the other games. It has fewer Easter eggs on the stages, which are generally more static and less interesting overall compared to Origins, Frontiers, etc. The enemy paths also seem less inventive - with fewer mid-level surprises (are there any? I’m about half way through...). The new “mix and match” tower mechanic feels more limiting than anything (you have fewer to work with per round, even when they’re all unlocked). The different upgrade system makes doing other level modes kinda pointless, except to buy one-use items in the shop. I dunno... This is the first game in the series that simply feels like a rehash - and less like a loving effort. That all said, it’s still extremely enjoyable. Ironhide simply set the bar too high for themselves on past games for this one to get five stars..Version: 1.3
Still great but could be betterI have played all of iron hides game and I’m a huge fan of the developer. The game is very fun, but the progression feels a bit lacking. The upgrade tree for towers is smaller than previous games and you will most likely have it completed before you finish the game. For me this is an issue because in previous titles I loved going back on the harder difficulties to earn more stars and continue to put points into my tower skills. There really is no reason here to go back and replay on a harder difficulty. Also, it’s nice having 5 towers to chose from but overall it feels like a downgrade because previously each tower had two options for its final upgrade which left more room for strategy. My final complaint is that for 5 dollars the game seems rather short..Version: 1.5.4
Thank you ironhideThis game is great, I think the best of the series (and it’s a phenomenal series). The game is genuinely polished and well made, the care that this studio takes to make mobile games is apparent in this one just like in all on their titles. The thing that really makes me happy about this game is the pay structure. In an era of game developers trying to relentlessly cram monetization down our throats, ironhide does it super well. You can buy everything with real money, including new towers, but what you can buy does not overshadow what you unlock by playing and I felt like they showed me respect while adding more monetization to the game. I bought stuff in this game because I wanted more cool content, not because the game wasn’t fun without it. Awesome game, this studio is the golden goose of mobile games as of now..Version: 1.2
Hard to walk awayVery enjoyable game I recommend upgrading to gain full access to all towers and hero's. Every hero has unique skills and can change the feel of the game completely. The extra towers allow you to creat entirely different combos within your build. The animations and sounds are fun and will make you smile, I recommend this game to anyone who loves tower defence games!.Version: 1.12.5
A New Twist w/ Some FlawsIf you want to read an honest review before planning on purchasing this game, take your time to read this: For starters, KR: Vengeance is the fourth instalment of the KR Series, this time playing as Vez’nan’s general in his quest to conquer all the kingdoms after awoken from his long slumber. There are a good variety of new and unique towers (unlocked while playing) to choose from, each equipped with special abilities and ready to take on the do-gooders. There are also (for the first time in the KR Series), premium towers to choose from as well. There are three heroes (unlocked while playing) to choose from: one melee, and two ranged, each with their own special abilities. The rest of the heroes are premium. PROS: Besides the brand new twist or theme of this game, it’s still KR to the core. The huge roster of towers offer a larger variety of ways to set up a solid defence given enough time and practice. In the previous KR games, you can only equip yourself with four different towers, but now you can have five different towers to use at once. This means you can use two of the same type of tower, despite both of them being different from each other, offering more variety to your strategy. Enemies are also plentiful in variety, each with their own set of strengths and weaknesses. The boss fights were great and unique in their own way, particularly the final boss fight. The landscape, visuals, and effects in the game are nice and interactive, giving a comical vibe. It’s still fun and goofy when playing casual, while providing a decent challenge for strategists. The story illustrated through comics was pretty good and funny at times. Lastly, there are a lot of Easter eggs and references of other games or movies to discover, just like in the previous KR games. Try to find them all! CONS: First and foremost, the price of this game. To be honest and for what it’s worth, it’s not that much of a bargain if you’re paying $6.99 CDN for a game and you still have to pay even more (approximately $60+ CDN) to fully unlock the game (all premium towers and heroes). This too goes for all of the KR games and Iron Marines. Everyone would prefer paying a lower price, given the amount of premium content this game (and the other games) has to offer. That way, the pricing is more fair and it makes the games more tolerable to play. Second, for those who want to practice with their strategy more, Endless mode is not available in this game. It’s one of the features that I really missed while playing this game. I’m forced to play the previous KR games to play Endless mode instead. Hopefully it’ll be added back in an update soon. Third, if you want to read some information about your towers and the enemies or bosses you’ve encountered, the Encyclopedia has seemingly disappeared into the void. I’ve looked everywhere but it’s nowhere to be found. Hopefully it’ll be added back in an update soon as well. Lastly, the start wave button (formerly on the bottom-right corner of the screen when playing KR 1 and 2), is not present (same goes when playing KR 3). I missed being able to instantly start a wave with one tap instead of two. Overall in my opinion, it’s not a bad game if you know how to properly plan your strategy with the towers and heroes (non-premium that is) you have at your disposal, as it’s easy to complete this game without using any IAPs. You only purchase premium content if you desperately want to have an edge, or have a ton of money to spare. Nothing else. For those who are not strategists and are looking for a nice fairly-priced casual game however, you will find this game (and the rest of the KR games, not to mention Iron Marines) a bit difficult to tolerate because of the price for the base game and premium content. With that in mind, it’s a fair argument for you to look for another game similar to this instead, even for dedicated KR fans. But if you really want to play this game, don’t use any IAPs as you don’t need premium towers and heroes to beat the game, and practice or get familiar with your strategy. Do both, and you’ll be fine playing this game. You have Vez’nan’s support on that. Maybe..Version: 1.8.1

Price for extra stagesKingdom rush was the first tower defence game I played since I was a kid. Just not happy to see that we are charged additionally with additional levels..Version: 1.16.02
Almost everything’s lockedYes, you heard right the game is paid to win but if you do spend some money in the game, you will get some extra level extra towers, extra heroes and so much more to me. I feel like the games worth it if you’re going to spend some money on this game, I would recommend you to spend 20 Canadian dollars on the two expansion packs. That’s all I would buy..Version: 1.16.02
Mostly greatThe play mechanics have changed for this game as compared to previous Kingdom Rush games. New and interesting. Lots of fun to play. I have played all the way through on normal and campaign can be played without purchasing additional heroes, towers or jewels. Purchasing the additional heroes and towers do add to the replay value. I assume that additional mini campaigns will show up later on with upgrades. I do go back and replay the Kingdom Rush games. Some players like to replay campaigns using variants of strategies. Lack of player slots could hurt replay value of the game..Version: 1.16.02
Pretty goodVengeance is probably one if the better instalments of the Kingdom rush franchise. It provides a refreshed look on the original kingdom rush map. It is interesting to follow the story from Vez’nans perspective for a change. The concept of premium towers is questionable but there are a lot of cool free towers as well. Vengeance has noticeably more levels compared to origins and rivals the amount offered by original kingdom rush. Enemies are presented in a wide variety. Overall it is definitely worth a buy..Version: 1.16.02
Un jeu super que je prefere depuis plus de 15ansUn jeu de stratégie par excellence.Version: 1.16.02
My favourite game all the timeI have been playing KR for almost 10 years and going through different versions. What impresses me most is the variety within the consistency of the design. It is definitely the first must-try for tower defence..Version: 1.15.08
9bucks for a campaign that only has 5 mapsNot worthy the price..Version: 1.16.02
Strays from the original games too muchI liked that you could see the difficulty you beat each level on in the older games, and the endless stages as well where you could try out interesting strategies. These would be simple additions to the game that would make it much more fun like the old ones..Version: 1.15.08
