Seek by iNaturalist Negative Reviews
Cannot Log InSigned in to the iNaturalist app using Facebook. No such option to log in to Seek with Facebook. When I go to create a new account to use the Seek app, it is saying my email is already taken so I cannot even create a new account. Frustrating to say the least!.SplachnumVersion: 2.2.2
Wrong identificationI am living in Quebec (Canada) and from the 6 plants wild plants I presented to it, none of them where rightly identified..IsabelleWilliamson4Version: 2.14.9
Sadly and Frustratingly UnreliableI wish, wish, wish that the identifying tech was better because I want to use this regularly so badly. But photos I take — good, clear quality photos readily accepted by other apps — are only useable maybe 20% of the time. It’s so frustrating to have a photo considered “research-quality” on iNaturalist not be recognized on this app.
This app seems like Pokémon Go but for natural species and it would be so fun. Really disappointed..Heather her herVersion: 2.14.2
This furry does NOT APPROVE 😡👎I got this app after I saw it in an Addie Bowley video, and it seemed like a good app, but it is SOOO inaccurate, I took a photo of a duck on a dish soap bottle, and it thought it was a “crab spider”. Need I say more?.Fluffen the furryVersion: 2.18.0
Great app, one annoying featureI really like this app but it has one irritating and unnecessary feature. Every time you open the camera you get a warning to pay attention to your surroundings and such. Really ? We need that to be “safe” using the app? Cmon, be real people..DillusionedVersion: 2.17.7
FAILI looked up 7 different insects I photographed with my macro lens and this app couldn’t identify 6 of them.
The photos were very clear and showed the insects markings quite accurately.
Not impressed..Skiyal8rVersion: 2.17.6
ProblematicHalf the time it couldn’t find the organism. It also identified my cat as a dog and my cacti as insects..BumbleBea8Version: 2.17.5
Loved the app but ios26 broke itSince updating to iOS 26 every time I go to take a photo it says camera not available even know I see the viewfinder and everything the rest of the app still functions please fix soon.Neil14nVersion: 2.17.3
Bad IdentifierI’m looking around with the app and the scanner identifies a dog toy out in the field as a human there was no other person than me so I could not have scanned someone else.Mayo!!!!!!!!!!Version: 2.17.3
DicotsI gave up and deleted it after two ID attempts. I tried two City trees, but it was only able to determine they were dicots and said it was still learning. Maybe it will be useful one day, but dicot isn’t helpful lol..NanniGRevVersion: 2.17.2

It’s very inaccurate and will make you madIt’s just bad at identifying species I downloaded it before going to Costa Rica and it was rarely giving me the right animal let alone species. Trust me don’t download it. Very disappointing..Very inaccurate don’t downloadVersion: 2.17.1
Terrible downgradeI loved this app and used it over the past few years to identify hundreds of species. However, since this latest upgrade, the app cannot even start to identify the most basic plants or insects. It is like it doesn’t even see them. And this is on a new phone with a better camera! Very disappointed and wishing I could roll it back. It’s basically useless now. :(.Wordsmith101Version: 2.17.1

HorribleI was trying to scan my favorite flower and included incredible pictures but it said it was a bug and keep saying take another photo even though I put clear photos of the flower on.Hamner1978Version: 2.17.1
Wrong IdentificationEverything seems to come up as a Dicot. 8 out of 10 plants are ‘belongs to the dicot family’. I scanned my dog and she was identified as a cedar waxwing. 😞.NotSureWhatThePlantIsVersion: 2.17.1
Bye, Seek - RIP iNaturalistI am so disappointed and angry about iNaturalist partnering with Google to add AI. Removing my positive review and deleting the app, which I've used and recommended since it was first released.
The idea that the volunteer, unpaid contributions from this huge community of scientists are going to be used to fuel AI is unconscionable. Google's AI is a massive contributor to mistaken identifications of everything from plants to toxic fungi.
And that's apart from the massive environmental cost, which is quite literally fueling destruction of ecosystems in my home province. All this to help Google of all companies profit off an unsustainable business model.
Bye, Seek. Bye, iNaturalist. Deleting it all and going back to my books. Shame on you..Leilah TVersion: 2.17.1
HmmmAlmost all plants are DICOTs. I scan many common plants and they still come up as dicots. Removing the app..JonedskiVersion: 2.17.1
