Might & Magic: Era of Chaos Positive Reviews
Unique IOS GemI play a lot of freeware games where you collect heroes to make your team better and I usually enjoy them, even if most get old after a month or two. This one has the unique spin of letting you control units with multiple soldiers and strategically laying them out in a formation you choose. As you level you unlock slots on the whole battlefield for more units. It genuinely feels different from the other games I was talking about, for example Idle Heroes, because you can raise the star level of most units to become useful alongside your rarer units which balances the game and keeps all of your units useful in Different situations. The game is generous (so far) with evolution material as well, encouraging you to level your team evenly instead of beefing up one all star team and sacrificing them when you get better heroes. It’s very enjoyable and I highly recommend checking it out and seeing if it’s for you. Also, the paid content feels fairly integrated and not stacked against free users (it feels optional if you’d like to buy something rather than you never having the chance to get rarer heroes if you don’t spend money). The benefit for buying something vs earning it is that paid packs come with kit to raise the star level of your unit, which is nice..Version: 1.0.109
I have been transported,To another world of Might and Magic. Where the elements of nature have become weapons for good and evil, the undead fight as an army, and dragons reign the skies. Like a real game I spend hours on, I’ve been playing this for just under a month. It is a “gacha” game (free-to-play) AKA “pay-to-win”. Its just not the case. I’ve spent money on this game simply because I enjoy it and love it and the strategy element hits EVERYTHING I love! I have never played M&M before but since it was by Ubisoft, thought I’d give it a shot. I was not disappointed, in fact, a little upset that I had missed out on something this good for so long. I’ve been a gamer my whole life, this game brings in elements for so many different strategies, it’ll keep ANYONE busy. They have a classic “honeycomb” strategy game called “guild adventure” that is just awesome! I’ve read it’s suppose to represent that ORIGINAL game, within reason of course. Either way, this game is very enjoyable. I love that you can overcome enemies (PvP & AI) with strategy regardless of “power level”. Great MOBILE game in my humble gaming opinion..Version: 1.0.5
Very Impressive GameSo I am used to playing games, I grew up back in the day of the first Might and Magic game, when it was 4 color CGA graphics and the only units you had were your rolled main heroes. The series has evolved constantly and here we are after decades of change and updates (evolution). For a mobile game, this current version has been amazing, I realize you can spend money to gain some additional benefits, but you don’t have too, I’ve found so far, that there is a lot of content, the basic players solo adventures combined with the guild overworld map with exploration, the enhancement of troops, dungeons of sorts and I guess for the modern generation the PVP stuff (not my forte, but it’s in there. My main point is, I’ve found it enjoyable as mobile games go. Thanks for the fun - Tom (MN USA).Version: 1.0.7
Almost!!!I would absolutely spend a large amount of time and money on this if it was more like homm3!!! It actually has a lot of potential and odd kinda close. but the monsters move on their own most of the time and it makes combat boring. All this game needs is a tiny rework!!! So I can go to gather materials in the open world like a small free roam map, and the ability to control my creatures and move them strategically! Honestly if you add these things to it, this world be a homm3 revival like never before and I think I speak for a very large amount of people when I say that that’s what we want most of all in the world today. But sadly right now I’ll just go back to desperately trying to play homm3 on any ancient device…… like everyone else….. or here’s a thought, forego the costs!! Do the right thing! And upload homm3 to the App Store! I’d buy it even if it was 200$. No joke… So figure out what your costs and priorities are, your fans WILL support you when you go full homm3!!!!!.Version: 1.0.204
F2P friendly; but waaaaay too many
Love the game but...This game is loosely based on the old heroes of might and magic three game. The only thing that is from that game is the heroes and the units (there is a limited amount of each so not even all of them are on there). Also the fortress is not in the game at all yet... but it is being added soon but not sure how much of the fortress characters and units will be added. I love this game but it’s not for everyone, again it is very different from the old heroes games so if you’re looking for that here is not the right place. I am very addicted to this game buttttttt you either have to put A LOT of time into the game or spend a lot of money. Or a little of both. Or you will never get good. But overall I love the game so far and I can’t wait to see what they add/change in the future.Version: 1.0.3
Unable to contact Customer SupportThe game was amazing until 4 days ago. Server went down for hours but the dev did the right thing and compensated players. Server went down again today and I lost my entire account. Game is not okay to win and very fair but I enjoyed the game and did spend a lot of money to support the game. I lost it all. I have reached out by email, Twitter and through the customer support link on the app and have heard nothing. Hoping this will catch someone’s attention. Please help a loyal customer retrieve their account. Or at the very least compensate for money lost due to server error..Version: 1.0.112
Good but needs work. This game has the signs of being a good game but has some work that needs to be done. First stop nerfing units when their power is clearly better. Other games did this and lost a lot of active users because winners would be arbitrarily selected by the game. Power needs to start meaning a little bit more. Second the campaign needs to be easier. It’s a bit suspicious when I loose at the exact same part in the campaign no matter what I do. The campaign is supposed to be fun not impossible. Lastly there needs to be a way to get the red dragon stones for the barracks. I understand there’s ways to get them in one event but the event is very selective and if you aren’t selected you’ll never get the stones. This furthers the gap between top players and everyone trying to catch up. Overall a good game but with these fixes it could be a great game..Version: 1.0.7
Used to be greatI played this game for a long time. The things I loved about it are still there: factions that influence rosters, formations, pvp tournaments, etc. Sadly, the drive to release new, more powerful, content has ruined this game in my opinion. Hero ultimate spells went from strategic targeting of key areas and moments or mild unit buffs to massively influential full battlefield spells, combined with commander and champion units that influence the entire field, and pvp combat has just become a stat check with flashy graphics obscuring the actual combat. It’s fun to play a new server for a month or two, but the longer you play the more the enticing elements of the game devolve into a race for op units and heroes while units and heroes that made the game interesting and we’re more balanced get relegated to off-battlefield stat buffing roles..Version: 1.0.207
Heroes of Might and Magic-Era of ChaosThis game, while not having a great deal in common with the original games, is still very good. There are SOME similarities but it’s very much a stand alone title. It’s not a pay to win title, but spending a bit does help of course. The battles do require some strategy(especially later in the game) so there is some challenge in that regard. There’s also plenty to do if you don’t wish to play the campaign, lots of optional tasks that give a good deal of rewards. If you do them all on a daily basis, you shouldn’t feel any obligation to spend money. But I’m sure the developers would appreciate the support. Five star for sure!.Version: 1.0.109
Great game that went overly complexI played up to lvl 90 and, about 3 years ago, I quit. It became too much of a daily chore. Too many options, too many activities. To many different time consuming ways to ultimately just tweak the stats. Today I jumped back in to see if anything had changed. It has. It’s even more complex and time consuming! I get all these updates are meant to keep players attention but ultimately turned the game into a grind and then a slog and ultimately more chore than fun. Not to mention all the new features cost - time or money. This approach might work for others, but I find this game was better (and more fun) in the original days when it was more simple and straightforward..Version: 1.0.190
WonderfulI’ve played so many games where either the novelty wears out quickly, or you realize that they are just traps trying to get you hooked into spending lots of $ to stay competitive. This game is different, you can reasonably play a fun game for free. So far I’ve spent a bit for a monthly pass (I have no problem paying for a game I like, after all, I want them paid for entertaining me), but never felt the need to pay to enjoy the game. The gameplay is fun, reminiscent of the original HOMM games, the artwork is lovely, and the game is huge, there’s so much to do. Truly, a cut above the rest..Version: 1.0.2
LOVE IT!I played the original heroes games on the PC and this is a fun new addition to their series. They have taken a lot of the old game ideas and applied it perfectly to an iPhone game. Haven’t had the need to purchase anything to advance gameplay. I enjoy the gameplay and would recommend to someone that wad a fan of the PC series and to any newcomers that like strategy style gameplay. Almost reminds me of fire emblem due to the advantages of certain troops over others..Version: 1.0.113
Great example of pay to win, overly complicatedI’m a big fan of Heroes of Might and Magic, so I was excited to find this game. Unfortunately, despite their claims, it is one of the most pay to win games I have seen (and I come from a Game of War background). There are like 4 different shops that require money, dozens of specialized items to advance troops, heroes, artifacts, and spells, all of which can be found in tiny, tiny quantities through free play (some of which take a long time to get to the necessary to unlock) or in larger quantities through purchase..Version: 1.0.166
Where new age rts meets the nostalgia I’ve been needing.I have to admit, the game manages to stay fun even at the free to play mode until about level 80 or so. There’s a multitude of content during those two months and because they’re constantly releasing new server births ever week or two, you can actually be pretty competitive the first couple weeks with the majority of spenders. There’s a mod on there called auto chess that I hope will become available on a regular basis.Version: 1.0.10
Heroes of might and magicAmazing mobile version of my favorite turn based game of all time. Just focus on using your diamonds for extra energy to level up your character. Other than that it’s fantastic, I just want to keep getting better and better. Has great unit selection as well once you unlock them. Leveling is key. Fantastic game. I am very impressed having a played every heroes of might and magic from 2 on..Version: 1.0.5
Training-best off is too hardOn one of the training levels you have to time the spell just right, but it is impossible to clear the Phoenix is too powerful if you could lower its hp down that would be a great help! Other than that the game is great I played it for three days now and am already level 26 it is a great great game you should get it if you haven’t already.Version: 1.0.5
Fun if you like spending moneyIt’s your standard Play to Win. It’s fun, but after spending $20 bucks you realize there are times you can’t, no matter how hard you try, win. Don’t get me started on the “training” waste of time. It’s garbage and complete luck if you win any of the final training sessions in the training grounds. Don’t stress yourself out. Play a different game. Update: the developers say you don’t have to pay. It’s all “strategy”....even though you cannot win and the numbers they use are kind of useless. Meaning: I have an army of 225k strength and I still cannot beat a peasant army of 45k strength. See? Useless numbers and I have to pay to win this battle to “win” (I.e. buy) better gear for your units. Update update: Developers are very hard to contact for assistance, but the game is SUPER easy to take your money. Ubisoft: which is obviously a German hybrid word for Always Flaccid.Version: 1.0.3
Is not a disappointment!I grew up with Hero’s of Might and Magic strategy games and had my reservations initially. But this is a solid game. Combines a lot of the elements and flavor of this franchise that I love but has a new twist to the game play that I find rewarding. There is a lot of depth to the game but is easily free to play. Strategy and unit composition is the best feature. I feel they got it right and so far it has been worth the wait!.Version: 1.0.109
Love the game, not the grind.I really do enjoy the game and the “grind” isn’t even that bad, except for getting SSR units. Unless you are either 1. A seasoned veteran and have literally just played enough to get one through pick up draws or 2 get extremely lucky and pull a second one legitimately, you aren’t getting more than one SSR unit (you can also purchase vip 11 to get one at an INSANE price) and it’s kind of dis heartening to know that ever time I draw I barely have any chance to get an ssr unit. Besides that though, the game is really fun and I like the concept..Version: 1.0.2
Awesome gameAwesome Gem the game is very well balanced and not boring. There are bunch of events both single or multiplayers. Guild system is very important and the game does not require to pay even if you’ll grow faster for couple of $. I have a suggestion since I am high level player wold you consider having app extension on Apple Watch to sweep quicker ?.Version: 1.0.7
Great P2W game!Play if you enjoy strategy games AND willing to invest $$$$$ The game’s depth and complexity are mind-boggling. But most advanced features are behind the paywall. The game can be best viewed as a network of stores, around 20 of them in total. As the player progresses through the game, he gains access to more advanced stores and can buy more expensive items to strengthen his armies. This is how the designers maintain interest in the game and keep milking players for cash..Version: 1.0.8
Nostalgia for HOMM fanI’ve been an avid HOMM fan since 2 came out many years ago. This app won’t substitute for a full HOMM game but I appreciate the familiar hero, faction and unit names. The unique features of the guild adventure does make me feel a little bit like playing HOMM. The gameplay is fun, typical of a freemium game. Pace is good and it seems you can still get good enjoyment even if you don’t pay. 5*!.Version: 1.0.112
More of the sameI loved the old Heroes of Might and Magic games. It does have a little more strategy (battlefield placement) that one would expect from M&M. However, it’s the same boring level up style like all the other energy, dungeon, grind till you get so far then may as well pay if you want to advance mobile rpg’s. I do like the cartoonish models, looks cute. Was hoping for more from a M&M game but it’s more of the same....only with M&M battle units..Version: 1.0.113
Great game, but overwhelmingI love the game in general. My only complaint is that the general objectives and layout are too complex. You have to go through too many menus and remember far too many daily activities to do that aren’t always explained well. There’s stores that are very difficult to find..Version: 1.0.12
SatisfiedI e played the old M&M and I enjoy playing this mobile game version. You get to improve different aspects of your units, they don’t just level up. There’re different modes to play not just the story, but I most of all I like collecting different unique units and heroes, of which also you can level up in many ways as well.Version: 1.0.2
Game is okI played night and magic in the old days and it’s just another cliche macro spending game. Doesn’t entice you to work at stuff other than spend money to move forward. Maybe if they didn’t increase the level so much to choke the fun out of it so early I’d keep playing. On to the next… this is embarrassing to the title, but it’s Ubisoft after all.Version: 1.0.184
Could be better! Add some more units and it could be really fun. There’s definitely potential in games like this. Here’s hoping the next sequel is more serious and less cartoon like. Still looks like a cash grab kinda game and it would do better to have gameplay mirror the more popular titles like might and magic 3. Other than it’s ok. Add more units and make them easier to acquire and it should be good..Version: 1.0.10
Great gameVery addictive. But not like the classic heroes..Version: 1.0.112
Can’t get back onThe game asked me to sign in to Facebook and now I can’t get back on . All it says is ‘retrieving info’. I enjoy the game and find it relaxing. Been playing since end of 2019..Version: 1.0.216
Facebook login issueSo most players who linked their FB account to EoC are locked out until the game login is fixed. This is annoying for players with daily paid rewards which will be lost. It is also a huge pain considering other players with guess accounts or apple/google accounts will be able to play meanwhile and catch up or even leave us far behind… and compensations are always sent to everyone so forgive me to say it won’t heal only the wounded players which is still unfair! Honestly Ubi should make sure this franchise gets better care from its devs..Version: 1.0.174
FunThx great game!.Version: 1.0.166
Pay to win game.I’ll be honest I’m the top 2 players in my guild… which is in the top 4 guilds on my server. Even given I’ve put about $100 into the game the level of difficulty is astronomical. Even with 3-4 SSR units maxed out (for my level) and like wise with sr units, guys who spend I’m guessing thousands of dollars just absolutely annihilate you. I just did a match with a guy similar level… he beat me no joke… 5 seconds. It’s truly a shame because it is actually a super fun and addictive game with a good in game community. But it’s so pay to win that past level 50 (I’m on to my 70’s) it is definitely pay to win no mater how hard you try..Version: 1.0.174
Good gameThis game is a great game! It lets you create and build an invincible team while also leveling up your many great characters!.Version: 1.0.156
Best gameKeeps me busy, it’s such a cool game.Version: 1.0.12
Good gameI like that game.Version: 1.0.10
They made a fun game complicated and less funDefinitely not the original Heroes of Might and Magic, not even close, they stripped every single fun part of the game and added so many expensive elements to this one, it takes so much to grow your troops strong, not only efforts but also the diamonds, I would say this game is a big stain to the name of M&M, don’t play if you want to experience the classic M&M, plus it’s cheaper and more fun to play than this one..Version: 1.0.11
AwesomeBoom addictive.Version: 1.0.8
Not badLoved the old mm games hence why I played but the game is heavily p2w. Our guild is always ransacked by players 5 times our might. New players have a limited steep progress to get one free ssr unit. Premium gacha gives more fragments than actual units On the other hand their anniversary giveaways is generous and you can amass units by grinding daily.Version: 1.0.8
Great time passerEnjoying the game so far it’s a great time passer and you don’t need micro transactions to complete stuff.Version: 1.0.7
Can’t join friendsI don’t like the issue of different servers. When I joined the game it was to play with friends and then I realized that I’m on a different server and that you can’t change servers and bring your progress with you. Other than that it’s my only complaint. The game has tons of content to entertain you don’t need to be a pay to win player to have fun.Of course like all these games, if you do want to be competitive you are going to need the fork out big dough..Version: 1.0.7
Great gameI was a fan of hom&m since the first edition and i love this game !.Version: 1.0.7
Pay pay pay , to win, maybeEvents are way to short for non paying players, put them over a longer duration like similar games, relying on gems to get bonus items and special units is also very deceiving, makes the pay to win gap even bigger , u know money is not the only thing if you want to keep a base of players.Version: 1.0.7
Enjoying it so far but...The game is fun and there’s so much content BUTI joined because I have a friend to started playing and didn’t realize that there are multiple servers and you can’t play with your friend unless you’re on the same server. I didn’t realize this until after I had invested in the game so I’d have to start over in order to join my friend :( I’ve also heard this is a bit of a problem later on in the game because it becomes hard to recruit members to guilds in older servers because nobody new is joining them and lots of old players have left. I would really hope that they combine some servers or give us a chance to jump from one server to the next without losing progress..Version: 1.0.7
Tactical fuffilmentExcellent game where gathering troops and forming the perfect formation is the name of the game.Version: 1.0.7
It’s been a long time...... since I played a free game so carefully balanced. Not to many offers for free in-game purchases. Virtually zero ads. Also, a long time since I have played Heroes III and this game continues the legacy of a that legendary game with - again! - very careful and thoughtful planning of every detail in the context of transferring a good (if old) PC game to the mobile platform. Well done..Version: 1.0.7
Pay meI don’t work for free. You want me to do a review for you. There’s a cost..Version: 1.0.5
Not badGood to pass time....Version: 1.0.5
Good game with one big draw back for meEvents shouldn’t be based on real cash purchases. No matter what they are. In game purchases are there to temp ppl to buy and get better faster than people that do not invest money into it. But making events that promote that is just wrong.....Version: 1.0.5
HeroesHeroes, I loved you since number 3. Great job with this! Thank you!.Version: 1.0.5
Wow!Blast from the past in a modern version on the IOS. I’m so happy this game exists. Well done..Version: 1.0.5
Good game but no supportCons: No response to my ticket on a reported bug. Pros: Good graphics. Good UI. Game is interesting. You don’t need to pay to enjoy the game. Lots of active players and finding a good guild is key to progressing. Overall a great game, worth downloading..Version: 1.0.5
SweetWow.Version: 1.0.3
Fun game but home screen is way too crowdedPlease clean up all the icons..Version: 1.0.3
Has p2w but good f2p will do wellWith good strategy planning and control f2p do have a good chance. Vest fun game that rewards smart play and strategy. P2W will have advantages obviously but a good player will beat a bad payer.Version: 1.0.3
Worth your time. This game is worth the download, simple at first and slowly builds the customization. Keeps me entertained..Version: 1.0.3
Fun to a pointI found the game was fun up until mid, to late level 40. It became very repetitive, and very expensive if you want to compete with others to make any sort of impact. I always pay a little money to play these type of games, but the prices are getting ridiculous. To each is own though. Let the whales play with themselves. Hopefully Ubisoft makes enough off of them to release another Heroes of Might & Magic with a one time payment like they did over the years..Version: 1.0.3
NostalgiaHeroes 3.Version: 1.0.2
Love that game but...I love that game remember me good stuff about heros 3. But the new update make the tchat terrible everything is to big and we can read. And just a little thing about heros 3 every races where balance on era of chaos the undead are cheated every race have 7 characters but undead have 8 and 4 of them are awaking compare to some race having only 1 it’s a bit unfair. love your game Hopefully you going to correct those thing and ad the lagoon race soon!.Version: 1.0.3
Bon jeuBeaucoup de choses a comprendre, tres grand jeu en solo. Tres bon jeu, beaucoup d’heures de jeu 😃😃😃😃.Version: 1.0.2
Nostalgia outletThe spirit of HOMM is there!.Version: 1.0.113
Not badA pocket version of the old game archetype would be more enjoyable..Version: 1.0.113
Old school I played the originals lol.Decent game fun , nothing hard, can play without pay if wish. Too much side stuff but you can ignore or do it if wish. Main game story almost becomes a slight side bar as keep up to other stuff in game and daily events. Enjoyable though..Version: 1.0.113
Good game but...The game has become all about the in-game purchases. If you want to excel you need to pay. Want better troops? You have to pay. Want a certain hero? Pay. The good necropolis troops are also behind a pay wall. Pretty lame. 👎🏻👎🏻.Version: 1.0.113
