~~~~ Words from the LingoDeer team ~~~~
Hi deer!
To develop LingoDeer Plus, every member of our team has started learning a third (or fourth) language so that we can again put ourselves in your shoes.
With the goal to eliminate painful and tedious drills, we decided to keep every session under 90 seconds and introduce a cute mission with each exercise.
To make sure the content you will practice with is practical and level appropriate, we handpicked culture-specific vocabulary and crafted sentences that are also relevant to the exams you guys are preparing for.
Our mission is to help language learners like you progress efficiently and happily anywhere and anytime by using our original, pedagogically sound content in the most fun format possible.
LingoDeer Plus: Language Games App Comments & Reviews
LingoDeer Plus: Language Games Positive Reviews
Love itAs an INTP, I usually struggle to study in the normal way because I need visuals to link words to memory and various ways to approach subjects. The variation of learning tools and games really helps me enjoy the learning process.(Ti+Ne👍) Kind of not fond of the timer because I can't even read my native language fast enough to process a question (in part because I over think and like to double check) it's a personal challenge that I believe I'll get better at and some games don't have a timer which is a nice break. Having the timed games is a good way to get an idea on what you should go back to in the main app and it's a good motivation to do so to meet your daily challenges. There is no way to not improve. I would like to see some more learning options for learning context of certain words. Through another language learning program I have learned context that helps me memorize. Such as 서과 mean apple but also apology. Some Koreans give apples as an apology as a play on words (in a playful way) but also you don't want to say sorry if you didn't do the thing to cause misfortune because it means you accept the responsibility. This extra context can be helpful as trivia games or even fun little tidbits. Hope this would be helpful and they can add something like that but I have a lot of fun as is. 🤍.Version: 1.48.1
Even Worth It In the Free VersionI’m a pseudopolyglot (just made up that word) and I’ve been needing for the longest to better hone my grammar and conversational skills and this app is definitely helping me achieve that. I know over 1000 words in multiple languages but that doesn’t help if you can’t properly use them. This app is definitely assisting me in reaching my goal of true-fluency. The app has a paid version that will allow you to skip lessons and access all languages, but if you’re patient the free version allows you to challenge yourself step by step and get through a full course even without you paying for it. Not all sequels are good, but man this one supersedes original LingoDeer app. It’s very much so up there with Duolingo. Thank you and congratulations to the developers. Your hard work is much appreciated and it’s not going unnoticed..Version: 1.18.0
Can we label the levels??It touts itself as a language review app. It has a few games and different levels of the games which are good. Doesn’t have the versatility of the mind snacks language game that I had bought for five dollars and now is no longer supported by the phones. My main complaint with it is that it labels every level by a level number but that makes it very hard to go back and review some things such as types of rooms, colors, automobiles, etc. i’m writing this review in hopes that they’ll adjust this so that either individuals can label the levels to make certain topics easier to find or they will do so themselves so that you can see what clump of words is covered by each level making it easier to review. I don’t want to have to go digging through all the levels to find the one set of verbs that I want to refresh my memory on. This should be something that’s already set up for ease-of-use in a language review app..Version: 1.37.0
I love this app😍 but just one PROBLEM😕Hi. I love this app. And it is much better than the lingodeer app but this lingodeer+ is much better because the normal lingodeer made it so you have to pay for it if you want to do the next lesson and this one doesn’t.😁BUT there is one problem about this app and the problem is whenever I play one of the games it kinda just says things like for me to just match a word but almost all of those words I don’t know what they mean so I always lose😢 and I really hope that gets fixed. Cause that would really make me happy😃😄 if that did get fixed. That’s all I wanted to say. THX SO MUCH FOR READING hope you have a good day☀️or good night🌙..Version: 1.48.1
Gaming setupThe new LingoDeer has set this up more like a game with similar audio and content. I am not sure why it deserved a separate app. Are they discontinuing the other app shortly after they charged for it? It seems like a grab for cash instead of improving the other app. Should we expect new apps rather than big updates like Memorise or Duolingo does? Sorry if I am suspicious. I have only used it for a day. I have used the original app daily for just under a year (I paid lifetime). The new app is fun. Before I pay the lifetime again, I want to know the intention. By the way the “Super great!” review is deceiving. Two weeks of playing a language game does not equip one for a “conversation.” The app has existed 6 days and they have been using it for “two weeks.” Hahahaha Post reply Thank you for the reply. Also I have sent my comments via the app “contact us” section. My tickets are missing the next day with no response. It might be a glitch. Still not happy with the separation. I would be just as frustrated with a Duolingo 2 or Memorise 2. Mondly has a 2 but it is for kids so it makes sense. I hear you on “super great.” It still reads like a paid review. It includes advertising cliches that people seldom say in real life ;).Version: 1.1
Nice Concept but...I like the idea of a more fun extension to LingoDeer but it has flaws that is making uninstall the app. The first flaw is that the audio only works for some words. Sometimes you would get a question that requires you to hear the word in the language you are learning and it would be silent and you have to guess what the answer could be. You never know which words would do that. The second flaw is they only let you play two to three levels before telling you to get premium. They won’t let go past that and you can’t do nothing else in the app. I’m not paying 4.99 a month for an app that doesn’t work right. I really do like the idea of the app and waited a long time so see some games from LingoDeer but I guess my expectations were too high. I’ll stick with the original LingoDeer..Version: 1.4.0
Since day oneI remember downloading LingoDeer the beginning or middle of 2017. And I’ve used the 1st app a lot and I would use it when I would have free time. LingoDeer really did improve my Korean and it helped me remember the alphabet. but I would always forget words in Korean, but now since you created this second app. I was kind of skeptical, LingoDeer plus is so captivating and easy! It’s so useful and it helps me remember my Korean vocabulary in a fun and educational way. I’m very happy to be using LingoDeer+ and LingoDeer! I’ve been with LingoDeer for quite a long time and to be honest, I deleted many of my other language learning apps because it did not help me the way LingoDeer did! I love this new app!.Version: 1.6.0
Studying French ( add more languages )As a student of the French language , I am using LingoDeer plus for French and the app has been a pleasure especially for the section that challenges me on phrases and response time . As someone who also has LingoDeer and who also is a lifetime subscriber to that application , I noticed this app has fewer selections for languages to learn .. As someone who is interested in buying a lifetime subscription to LingoDeer+ it would be nice to see other common world languages like Portuguese and Russian on this application ( I’m biased to those languages of course ;) . This app is incredible and a great resource for studying French.Version: 1.48.1
Japanese KanjiI think both this app and the regular Lingodeer app should add more games/lessons that focus solely on Japanese Kanji and adding more kanji aside from the first 100 given on the main app. On the topic of kanji, I think this app’s vocab list needs an option to zoom in on it. It may be difficult for people to see it well enough to memorize it prior to playing. Other than that, I think both apps are very good and helpful. Despite being considered “intermediate”, I still bought both apps because I think the “Lingo Deer” is very cute. Definitely recommend it to people who are purely beginners looking to learn 1 or multiple languages..Version: 1.1.3
Ok, could be improvedDeveloper: It would be nice if each section had a review option! Ex: Word Express has that green review button, but many others like Speed Reply do not. I’m almost 100% finished with this app, and I finished LingoDeer app for Korean twice over. I would say this is a helpful supplement, it gave me something to do if I didn’t feel like doing any real studying that day. I really like the phrases section and the integrated section. This app does give you many different ways to review the same material (from spelling to listening and sentence making), so I still think it can be worth the time. Especially if you’re consistent..Version: 1.47.0
Worth the buy!All the games are so fun! The levels and games all fit together so you learn the vocab words and the grammar. I used the other app and a lot of their grammar points are reinforced in this app. I am really glad I decided to buy because I finally found and app that makes me feel like I’m challenging myself without making me furious. I also love the little touches they do with each of the games that have their own narrative behind them (the animations are precious!). Also the pronunciations and reviews at the end are very helpful. I’m looking forward to learning everyday with this app!.Version: 1.37.0
So so worth it!I’m not really one to write reviews, but this app has made me do it. Lingodeer itself is a very high quality app that’s sole mission is to help its users learn different languages. I’ve been through many language learning apps, and none of them seemed to fit until I found this app. It’s a very fun and challenging experience that keeps you on your toes and excited to learn! Lingodeer has helped me with my journey of learning different languages! :-) So much so that I downloaded the rest of their apps and I’m not disappointed!!!.Version: 1.47.0
This is what I’ve been searching forThis app is truly amazing! As someone who’s done plenty of vocab drills and flashcards for my target language before... I’ve got an understanding of words, but I’ve never been confident in my grammar. I’ve gotten to the point where I can read okay (not that I know tons of verbs, but I can get by with a simple enough book - like kid level stuff) and I’m trying to pick up on grammar through reading, but I’ve always wanted more exercises like the one I was taught when learning my native tongue and that’s exactly how I feel with this app..Version: 1.15.0
Loving it butI haven’t used the app for and extensive period of time but from first use I really like it! I’ve been looking for more game oriented apps to help me learn korea, so I was very happy to see Lingodeer+ I’ve been using Lingodeer for some time now and its definitely the best app I’ve used so far to actually help me learn in a useful manner. My only downside is that you have to pay for two separate subscriptions. I wish pre-existing members could have full access without paying another fee or if there was a bundled cost for full access to both apps..Version: 1.19.0
LingoDeer + pairs wellI’m learning Korean first off, and I ended up getting LingoDeer. The year subscription was on sale and I said “sure whatever” and so far I’ve loved it. And then it told me about LingoDeer plus, which is so so helpful when paired together. LingoDeer gives you the lessons, LingoDeer plus is there to reinforce what you’ve learned. I definitely think that getting them both at once is an extremely good idea. (Not only is it helpful but the colors and little deer mascot is just adorable).Version: 1.47.0
Fun for what it is!If you like puzzles/brain games, generally like to gamify your learning, or just want to casually review a language you’re learning, then this is a nice app! It’s cute and I love anything that gives me points (even if they’re more or less meaningless). I recommend using it with the OG LingoDeer app especially if you’re just starting with a language, or use it to supplement some other learning activities/curriculum. 4 stars for what it’s for, but considering it’s $60 or a (pricey!) subscription for a non intensive language practice (not learning) app..... not really a bang for your buck. Really depends on what kind of learner you are..Version: 1.37.0
A Great Learning Tool and Learning SupplementLingoDeer really helped me get ready for my first Chinese class! I had never learned it going into college, but my professors continue to be impressed with how well I’ve been picking up and applying classroom lessons thanks to my extra practice and exposure to the language on LingoDeer and LingoDeer+. That, and the app being super cute and easy to use makes it 5/5 for me. (There’s also not a scary owl to worry about murdering you in your sleep, only a deer you don’t wanna make cry.).Version: 1.46.0
Love itI just adore LingoDeer and I’ve been on their bandwagon a long time now. Their standard app is bar-none the best language learning app available, and I’m soooo glad that they finally have this app for practicing too. I’m particularly a huge fan of their listening games, because I feel like that’s what I lack the opportunity to do the most. When I see translations, my brain is just drawn to trying to read it instead of processing what I’m hearing - so the listening games are invaluable to me. Keep up the great work!!.Version: 1.39.0
Great, but Chinese needs another type of practice.First off, this app is amazing! I am currently learning German and Chinese, and both are great, especially as a supplement to the normal LingoDeer app. However, if it is possible in the future, PLEASE add a measure word exercise for Chinese. For example, guess the measure word, in which a noun is presented, and the user selects the correct measure word. That would be extremely useful. As the app is now though, it’s still great, and at the moment, I own lifetime memberships for both, and it was worth the price both times..Version: 1.1
Use this WITH LingoDeer or a textbookThis isn’t going to teach you a language although you’ll probably learn a fair amount of words. This is a really good REVIEW app. You need to learn grammar and the 3 alphabets elsewhere. I use this app in tandem with the regular LingoDeer app, WaniKani, and a textbook. It’s amazing at what it does. I highly recommend you get about halfway through the Basics on lingodeer before using the majority of the (grammar) games but the vocabulary building games can be used pretty much from the start..Version: 1.44.0
Double dip.Users shouldn’t have to pay a second sub fee to get these features. There should be one app with all the features of the two applications combined. This just seems like a money grab to me and I’m disappointed by the LingoDeer team on the decision especially because in the main app you cannot get rid of the new app notification. Also I work in customer service so don’t even bother with your “We’re sorry to hear that, but this is how it is” response..Version: 1.1.3
Definitely worth itI’ve been learning French while in quarantine and I can say wholeheartedly that this is the best app I’ve ever had. It is so fun and the reviews make it so easy to remember. Also wanted to add that they have an app for games you play while learning your chosen language. Even with it without paying for it, it has a lot to offer. Give it a try I promise it worth it!.Version: 1.27.0
Great App but the Price HurtsThis app is excellent. It’s well developed and the games are fun. It definitely has helped me study Korean, and I really enjoy it. I held back one star for the cost. Even at the initial 50% off - yikes! At first I thought it was subscription only, which was not something that made sense to me. Then I saw the lifetime offer and really struggled. I love the app, but $60 for access to the content...it just feels crazy, especially considering the other content out there and the other price points. I love you guys but your pricing is reaching for the stars..Version: 1.8.0
Not great for new learnersI got this to practice vocab and I think once I get more advanced, it might be more useful. However, it gives too little context and Im just memorizing phrases and spellings in an attempt to not get so frustrated I rage quit. Because of this, when I leave the app I have almost no recall for what I’ve learned (and I’ve guessed so many times on some of the words and phrases incorrectly that I have more than one pattern in my head. :() Anyway, more context other than the little deer just doing his thing would be nice. Or, I guess I’ll eventually get good enough that it’ll be useful..Version: 1.39.0
AwesomeI use this app to help with my Korean and Mandarin vocabulary, sentence structure, and grammar. In my opinion, LingoDeer is not meant to be use as a sole resource to learning a new language. However it is a helpful building guide for your studies. I also love the fact that you can remove romanization. This is helpful if you want to learn the language straight, without the “helping aide” of romanized words. I just wish there was a lifetime LingoDeer+ purchase option..Version: 1.34.0
AmazingI saw a video rating certain language learning apps, (Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, etc.) and LingoDeer made it to the top. I thought I’d try it out and I didn’t regret it, the app made learning one for the hardest languages (Japanese) easier, while with Duolingo I got stuck on one level almost all the time and it got annoying. But with LingoDeer and LingoDeer+ it made learning the language easier :>.Version: 1.42.0
Fantastic learning app!I’m learning Japanese at an intermediate level. I love the vocabulary and phrases exercises on this app. The listening exercises are also extremely valuable for someone who wants to use the language and take the JLPT! I highly recommended this app to anyone else learning Japanese and I hope the developers add even more content..Version: 1.48.1
Way better then flashcardsThe app is great and the price is fair. It has both reading, listening and grammar activities. I am really struggling with the Castilian spanish accent because all my other learning materials are in South american spanish. Are you considering adding a SA spanish option? Also I don’t like that some activities are timed. I freeze up when i know i’m being timed. Consider making the timer optional in later updates..Version: 1.29.0
Amazing!This is an amazing way to practice any language if you cannot practice with someone else. I personally don’t have anybody to practice language learning but this app makes it easy and fun do to it. However, you can only go up to level 3 with the free version. I will be paying to use it more often since it really is helpful. LingoDeer is to learn but this one is for practicing so I love it.Version: 1.46.0
Awesome!This app I think is absolutely amazing. It’s easy to remember the words and the games challenge you. The subscription to go level 3 up is a bit annoying though. Makes me feel like I don’t have my knowledge up to date. I’m trying to freshen up on my Japanese because I write music in Japanese. So not being able to go level 3 up is annoying for me..Version: 1.1.1
Characters games plsPlease add alphabet/characters games for character based languages such as Japanese and Chinese. I was excited for this app to help me memories hiragana and katakana, but they don’t even have a section for it! It just starts with vocab. I think every language app should have the very basics because sometimes you just got to refresh. Plus it appeals to beginners more. The app is great so far, but I don’t think I’ll be able to use it because I first need to learn characters before vocab..Version: 1.4.0
GreatGot this with LingoDeer as a bundle so I can’t speak about the full version vs the free version, but as the full version… it’s great! The games are pretty enjoyable and engaging and presented in a more welcoming manner than LingoDeer so if you aren’t in the mood for a lesson, you can always jump in for a “game”! And the selection of games and languages are surprisingly diverse!.Version: 1.48.1
Love LingoDeer!I love Lingo Deer and have been using it for quite some time now. The main app has Japanese grammar explanations that go above and beyond the other apps I have used. It explains why you’re doing what you’re doing rather than focusing solely on memorization. I’m excited to have LingoDeer+ to use when I’m not feeling like doing a full lesson or wanting to focus just on memorization :).Version: 1.1.3
What I think about lingodeer 🤔I like lingodeer but it's not as fun as duolingo. Lingodeer only gives you 3 lives and duolingo gives you 5. Lingodeer is hard if you don't know that language and your trying to learn it, it just goes straight into it and doesn't even care, it feels like. So please use duolingo it is more fun and has categories and asks you if you know some about that language or if your new to it!! 😊 it's A LOT BETTER AND FUN😊😊😊😊😉!!.Version: 1.35.0
SO FAR AMAZING!!I am just starting with no Japanese background and I have already learned so much I am writing things down and getting all ready this is going to really help when I go to high school soon for the language test and I can read and write in Japanese completely recommend!!!!!!!.Version: 1.47.0
Keep up the good work!I’ve been using LingoDeer to learn korean for about a year now, i liked it so much I bought the yearly subscription!! This game is super good, not only does it have multiple categories but it’s designed so well and entertaining that i don't even feel like im learning. Ive seen immense progress and want to say thank you!.Version: 1.16.0
Bugs frustrate an otherwise great appI am enjoying the original app, and the plus version is great for reinforcing skills. However the play offline does not work (download gets to 100% but the app says that the media files are invalid), and repeated attempts to reach out to customer service over the past 2 weeks haven’t helped. I have a lifetime membership to both apps and have already downloaded the latest versions..Version: 1.16.0
Amazing AppI love this app. It helps to really learn Korean vocabulary, verbs, conjugation, particles, listening and responding in Korean. By far the best app that has it all. You don’t have to go anywhere else. My only suggestion is to have sound for particles workshop. There is no sound. I hope they will fix that soon. Is there a way to contact, so that can be fixed?.Version: 1.46.0
Great app for vocabI would give this a 5/5 if not for the fact that it is a separate purchase from lingo deer premium (and I had expected otherwise) but other than that this is an amazing app. Even with the free version is helps reinforce vocable in an easy way. This really helps with language as even if you don’t know the verb tenses, at least you can get a message across..Version: 1.34.0
Latin American Spanish Por Favor!I love this app. i use it daily. i have no comments other than asking and humbly imploring the devs to add latin american spanish. i just want what i’m learning on lingodeer to match on the plus app! please let me know if that is already in the product backlog/pipeline. thaaaanks.Version: 1.48.1
Did not allow a lifetime passAs long as this app continues to make updates to further refine / expand / relate questions relevant to proficiency exams (specifically in Japanese, my primary focus area right now) this will be worth the subscription. However one issue is that lifetime offers for this is not yet available and I suspect I paid twice in attempts to make it work, and then settled for an annual. That’s why it’s at 3 stars as opposed to 4 or greater.Version: 1.1
Great app!The app is really wonderful, BUT My one and only wish would be to be able to make the characters bigger so they are easier to read when either reviewing a list of words or when taking a test. Remember we are not native speakers, so clarity of characters is of utmost importance. Can it not be done? Thank you for your hard work!.Version: 1.37.0
Better than duolingoI was trying to learn korean using Duo and it was super confusing! I love that Lingodeer gives actual lessons instead of just throwing multiple choice questions at me. 10/10 would recommend. and if i could talk my parents into buying me Lingodeer+ i would TOTALLY invest in it..Version: 1.27.0
My soul requirementAs a means to strengthen my soul and and others as well, I have taken to learning languages that are useful by means of pseudo natural. I have wanted to learn this one. I have that feeling I could have lived in Germany. Had it been I could have finished school..Version: 1.48.1
Good app but...I love this app but it would be even better if they thought you how to read and write Hangul it’s sad that they don’t because I paid for the app and was hoping for them to teach me the Korean alphabet but they didn’t I am quite disappointed in that. But the app is still good for expanding vocabulary..Version: 1.34.0
The app is amazing!To be honest, the app is super amazing. I’m learning Japanese and it is very easy to learn it with this app. I tried soooo many different type of learning apps,but they didn’t help me. With this app I can learn Japanese very easily. And I can stop watching subtitles with anime lol 😂.Version: 1.44.0
Easy to understand and user friendlyI’ve purchased many Japanese language apps over the past few years. This is easily one of the best to navigate and I learn much faster..Version: 1.41.0
Easiest five stars of my lifeGreat + fast gameplay for learning Japanese vocabulary and a nice addition to the OG LingoDeer. I’m happy that downloading limited assets offline is available for free members like in LingoDeer for easier access when traveling. Overall a wonderful app that I recommend for learning a good chunk of intro Japanese for free!.Version: 1.3.0
Great apps!I’m looking to become fluent in many languages and have been looking for other good apps (I have been using DuoLingo, as well). Already living LingoDeer and all its respective apps. Can’t wait to see how this expands my vocabulary!.Version: 1.41.0
Fun and study at your own paceReally fun to study with this game based app. I’m a first time Korean learner and this makes it fun and easy. Recommend!.Version: 1.26.0
Great companion appExcellent app for practicing vocabulary and grammar along with LingoDeer (Korean).Version: 1.49.2
Allows you to practice as well as learnI was looking for an app that would give me more than just words. This is a good refresher if you have some basic language knowledge..Version: 1.47.0
Extra helpThe extra learning and exposure to your language of study is great, lots of different ways to hear, listen and read- with points to review and study. Good for side practice when you don’t want to follow the same learning lesson. note: would love an update to animation and quality of effects, i think it could make it more engaging.Version: 1.48.1
AwesomeMore actives pls because it would be nice to have.Version: 1.46.0
Excellente applicationL’idée de pratiquer de plusieurs façons par des jeux est excellente. Bravo..Version: 1.46.0
AmazingLove this app.Version: 1.39.0
In depth practiceThis is an accessory language-learning app, and it's a good one. The high quality of voice recordings and the natural, conversational experience in so many of these games made LingoDeer Plus worth my money. You need to have already either at least a little knowledge of the language, or else to combine this app with separate lessons (like the companion app, LingoDeer, which I also bought) which introduce material gradually. This is because each game in LingoDeer Plus presents a variety of material at once. For a complete beginner it may be too much all at once, but after a lesson or two in my other apps, the games in LD+ become a fun way to challenge and expand my understanding. There's a really wide variety of games. There are of course progressive vocabulary and grammar drills, and challenges to spell and assemble words or phrases, but there are also natural sounding conversational games. Immersive language games challenge me to think in that language without translation, picking up context from what I hear. After each exercise, all my questions and their correct answers are available for review (both text and audio). Some corrections in-game even include a helpful note on the language rule involved. I especially enjoy games which challenge me to tell correct phrases from incorrect ones. The "mistakes" are natural ones: for example, a wrong conjugation or a sound-alike word. The app's sounds and visuals are pleasant without slowing me down. Daily challenges for each language, and global achievements, help encourage the learning habit without stress. I restarted my language hobby three or four years ago with a variety of language apps. I still enjoy Drops each day, and I do a little on Duolingo too. But LingoDeer and LingoDeer Plus are the only ones I have put my money into, so far. LingoDeer is the best in-depth teacher I've tried, while LingoDeer Plus pleasantly reinforces and challenges my skills..Version: 1.39.0
Awesome apppThis app is so cool I loves it!!!!.Version: 1.39.0
Love it 😻I really do love it but I need to learn Japanese fast though it is a little hard sometimes but it’s fun.Version: 1.22.0
Good for reinforcingHaven’t used the entire app yet but it’s a good way to reinforce old and new vocabulary and also brush up on proper sentence making. Good app for people who can’t always pull out their books and study. Very useful..Version: 1.18.0
