PlantIn: Plant Identifier・Care Positive Reviews

Super cool & intuitive appI have a bunch of plants and love creating succulent gardens from clippings and reviving dried up/ half dead plants from the side of the road or a friend who can’t handle the care of them. I’ve been able to take pretty good care of most and have a lovely garden of likely 40+ potted plants… Sometimes my adoptees have issues tho- recently had an aphid or spider mite problem, that started spreading to my other plants! I decided to finally give this app a try to see what the problem may be with a couple as well regarding their watering needs. Now I realize each plant is different in its care and I’m having fun learning what they need so I can make sure to water and feed appropriately. The weekly charge is super high at $7 so $28 per month is more than I spend on my pots, fertilizer and tools! It kinda makes the lifetime option the only one that makes sense. Idk, hopefully as time goes on they will make a longer trial period or a cheaper monthly subscription option. But either way, the app is easy/fun to use and super informative! You can essentially create a whole catalog of your plants and where they are located and get reminded about what they need. It’s pretty brilliant..Version: 4.14.1

Expensive for what it is.So basically doing a search on Google you’ll find all the info found in this app. You can even find actual farmers ,horticulturalist and Botanist willing to offer advice for FREE. Right off the bat first the I found wrong with the app was the very reason I got the app. It had a feature to identify needed care. So I used this feature and it gave me conflicting advice that was wrong in both cases. 1st it said I over watered, I had not watered in 5 days. Next it said it didn’t get enough sun light. The only way for it to get more sunlight is if the days themselves where longer. I’m saying it gets direct sunlight from sun up to sun down. With that said I can’t honestly say the main feature is worth posting for. Unless your goal is to track statistics on your phone. But you can keep stats if your different plants as well as pictures on note pad. I’m not really sure who this app is for. It really just seems like a big money grab. Update: The Developer emailed me and was most respectful and professional in addressing my issues. While my personal review won’t change.. I will add that while it didn’t meet my expectations ( only due to the steep price) You may not experience the same problems and the support team is quite ready and willing to address issues and is consistently updating the app. Enjoy..Version: 5.5.2

Great Plant assistant.I’m fairly new to plants, and the intricacies of owning caring and growing them. In my plant journey, I have adapted the theory of use all tools necessary to grow your skill or hobby. In this process, I have tried multiple, I would go as far as saying, countless apps, to aid me in becoming a better plan parent. after trying multiple premium apps I can confidently say this one is the best. Upon opening the app the aesthetics are very attractive, upon opening the app for the first time I was very pleased at how easy it is to use. One of my plan babies. I’ve had a difficult time keeping alive, not knowing if it’s being properly watered, getting enough sunlight, or near and in air-conditioning. This app help me immediately identify that my current watering schedule, for my Monstera was not conducive to keeping it healthy, while also informing me of common diseases that affect this particular. The light meter, which was the focal point of me download this app has been a plant saver. I believe this app has already helped me save several plans and will continue to help me be a great plant father. I recommend this app to the Novice and expert plant grower alike, look no further download this app..Version: 4.8.0

Loving this helpful appMy daughter and I are making a raised garden in my backyard this year. I’ve grown a few things over the years in pots, but now we are venturing out to making a “raised”. Since this is our first time, we aren’t expecting a 100% success rate….50/50 will be just fine with us during this learning curve. We are very excited, but also worried that it is already the end of May and we are just beginning with our vegetable plants. I found this app on Google when I was researching how to grow parsley. So far so good!!! I’m liking this app very much. I’m learning all sorts of new things and techniques for growing a successful garden. As I’ve already stated, we are very excited. My daughter is also putting the app on her phone, so I’m hoping for great success with our very first raised bed garden. I will keep you all informed on how well this app will help us to achieve our goals. We are loving how this app answers all of our questions, and is aiding us with our challenges so far. We will keep you informed!! HAPPY GARDENING, EVERYONE! 🧑‍🌾.Version: 4.29.2

It would be 5 stars if it worked like the ad showsI do love this app.. but I paid for the premium version and almost immediately got it refunded because it didn’t work how the ad showed. In the ad it showed you could scan the plant and it would tell you if it needs more water or not. After getting the app and looking through it I thought maybe I needed the premium for it to do that. I got the premium and was sad to find that the premium only added the ability to scan the plant to identify any diseases or sickness it may have. But there was no way to scan to see if it’s over watered or under watered like the as showed. I still use the app cause it does help me keep track of when I should water each plant and scan to find what type of plant it is and learn a bit more about it. I am just very disappointed because I was excited and mainly downloaded the app for the ability to scan to see if I’m over watering or under watering my succulents. I hope the app will soon be updated to have this ability like how the ad shows. If that change is made I’ll bring it up to 4 stars! If you don’t have to pay for it since it doesn’t mention that part in the ad then I’ll give 5 stars!.Version: 3.2.3

Missing a lot of speciesThis app is missing a lot of plant species and it’s camera identifier tool is flawed, it tries to say it is a plant it is definitely not. Like my pink dragon alocasia it kept trying to identify it as green velvet. And it doesn’t even have anthurium magnificum or papililamium as an option for you to type in. And the disease diagnostics has nothing to do with the picture, it just asks generic questions after you submit the picture and then gives generic answers. For instance I water every 10 days or so (when the top two inches of soil is dry) if I select I water every week it says in watering too much, if I select I’m watering every 2 weeks it says I’m not watering enough. Even though the symptoms have nothing to do with watering (ie black spots on the leaves from previous spider mite damage from the store), I had hoped it would give me advice on how to make the plant happier after being treated for pests. All it said was it was getting too much water, then I redid it and selected the next less watering option and it said it wasn’t getting enough. Watering issues cause edema or yellowing, not tiny black spots.. I’ll try a different app. Shame I spent $$ on this one..Version: 5.7.0

My loveTo tell the truth, I started growing plants quite recently. I've always liked it when there is a lot of greenery in the house. It is pleasant and pleasing to the eye. The room immediately looks much more comfortable. But I was scared that I would not be able to cope. I have no acquaintances who could explain how to properly care for them and what to do if they get sick. But I downloaded this app and everything turned out to be surprisingly easy. They drew up a competent plan for caring for my green pets, which saved me from unnecessary worries. Also, I am a very forgetful person, but there is a possibility of reminders. Notifications come regularly and without interruptions, so there is simply no way for me to forget about something. Now my house is full of greenery, and you can say that I live in my dream home. I am very happy, thank you very much for a stress-free life. I hope that I will not have any problems, but if they do, I know who to turn to..Version: 2.0.3

Greatest plant app ever!!This has been the best plant app I’ve tried!! It has allowed me to diagnose plant sickness with just the snap of a picture and it gives detailed guidance on how to heal them and how to prevent the sickness from happening in the future. It also provides care plans for each plant up upload so I always know what’s needed for a new plant. It also has some cool features like know the “how much to water” calculator which has been a god send! Over all this is an excellent app! I did take a star off because the price is a bit high and sometimes it’s ability to identify a plant from a picture is pretty far off, but if you know the plant name you can just type it in and pull it up that way. But just know that the “finding a plant name by picture” feature is not always accurate so double check it if you’re questioning because if you get a care plan for the wrong plant type it could result in a dead plant type! Overall very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others!.Version: 4.8.1

Premium subscriberI purchased the premium subscription with this app because it was a good deal.. or so I thought. Honestly, if I could go back and change my mind, I would. This app is good about telling me when to water my plants, keeping up with notes, pictures and history on the plant. Other than that it could use some work. There are no extras and everything you have to pay for. I am still not really sure what the “premium” subscription got me. Their diagnose your plant option needs ALOT of work. Not once had it ever successfully diagnosed an issue. I bought a new plant about a month and a half ago but it’s not available in their database. Ok, that’s fine. They have an option to request it be added and they’ll do they within a couple of days. Awesome, right? Wrong. I’m still waiting for that to happen. All in all for me being a premium subscriber I definitely don’t think it’s worth it. I’m sure there are other apps out there that offer more bang for your buck. Look into those before spending money on this one..Version: 4.1.1

First time userThis is hands down, the absolute most innovative, helpful, user-friendly, intriguing, and just PERFECT app I have ever had the pleasure of downloading on my phone! Every SINGLE thing you could possibky ask for in regards to plant knowledge, care, and research is in the palm of your hands. The results are always accurate and informative, while also keeping you interested to learn more and continue fiddling with the app to see what other cool features PlantIn has invented. I so badly wish the app could have a longer free trial period, or if the cost was a bit more competitive, however, I do understand and can only imagine how much time, effort, love, and care goes into creating such a magnificent tool to aide in a gardener’s success. Whoever created this app — just know that I think about how much I love you every day as I’m with my plant babies!❤️ Signed, A girl from New Jersey who is trying to turn her thumb green!😉🌺.Version: 4.30.0

Helpful!Certainly helpful in identifying plants, it has only been wrong once in the handful of times I’ve used it; other times it gives me multiple options (& in those instances one of them has always been correct)—another instance it wasn’t sure so it had me put in a request for further assistance to identify…we shall see how that pans out. It hasn’t been the most accurate with identifying problems, sometimes it’s just too broad of an answer to be of much use, but I honestly haven’t had to utilize that feature enough yet to have an opinion one way or the other. Overall, I don’t think you can beat being able to take a picture & be met with the plant’s overview/general care info so quickly. So simple yet so profound for someone like myself, & the app just feels like it was (& is) a labor of love created for plant-people, by plant-people. I can only imagine it’ll get more & more precise with identification in time; so far this one is definitely a keeper for me..Version: 4.8.1

Propagation of plants and the light meteringLiked the information about how and what kind of ways to propagate different knife of plants. It would be helpful to identify my new plant in my list of plants as a propagated plant though. I have three currently my jade, spider and basil are all in propagation currently. And I feel they need different information given to me for care. Is there any way to add this to my information so I can attend to them as babies? Also is there a way to use the light meter to recommend a plant location? I say this because moving them around all over the house could be more difficult if they get big. It would be nice to take light meters for a set location (morning afternoon evening and with shades down and up to see what plants would do well in a certain area the move it there for better lighting and differs times of the year if needed. Just a thought..Version: 5.41.0

Very goodI was recently presented with a small money tree. I really wanted to raise him. I watered it a little and exposed it to the light, but it still didn't grow. I tried to change the exit strategy, but it still didn't grow. I didn't understand what was the matter. It took a long time but it remained the same size as it was when it was presented to me. Then I downloaded this application and asked the experts what was the matter. It turns out that the pot in which this plant was presented to me was too big for this and it spent too much energy on the development of the root system. Because of this, Ratsenia did not have the strength to grow at all. They explained to me how to transplant plants in great detail and I was able to transplant it into a smaller pot. Immediately after that, I noticed how it started to grow. Many thanks! If I have any other problems, I will definitely contact the experts with them..Version: 1.14.0

Best app everTo be honest, I have never developed plants. I already thought that there was some kind of evil eye on me. Whichever plant I buy, it always withers after three months, even if it was a succulent that hardly needs watering. It seems to me that only a cactus would not be wilted, but I do not really like cacti. So I kept trying and this time I got a ficus. I found out the seller all the details about his departure and did everything right, but the ficus also began to fade. I was already completely desperate, but then I found out about this application. I photographed my plant and the experts helped me solve the problem. It turns out this time it was not about me. Pests have started on the ficus. It's good that they helped me to cure my plant and get rid of them. Now it grows further. I hope everything will be fine with the plant. What a pity that I found out about this app so late. I could have saved all the previous plants as well..Version: 1.13.1

This app is straightforward and simple!I think that this app is really good for people who need advice, suggestions, and support along the way of planting! This is a small app that isn’t filled with adds and you don’t need to purchase any premium features so you can use the app for what you downloaded it for, it’s a really nice app that allows you to talk to other people about your plant related stuff! I started to get addicted to it, but not too addictive to the point where I’m on it for 5 hours straight! (Which is good) I downloaded this app for free so I can get help with my wisteria tree, and I got all the help I needed from people on this platform! I think this app is great and you should use this app if you need help and there’s not much help from people around you, I always have someone who is planting the same thing also, so I wasn’t ever alone! :).Version: 4.9.1

Identify whoWhy is this App so expensive, $7 a week!? This app must be for ppl who have many plants. If someone has 20 plants or less they probably know how to take care of at least half. The other 10 they could google or ask a nursery for free. IMO this app is to find out who has what kind of plants, like medicinal, edible, how many, personal or commercial use. They track ur location, like a normal person would want to track what ur growing? This app would come in handy if foraging but again, do u want government knowing your perfect spot? We use to be able to forage many things off the side of the road but they have plowed over and killed most of those. Between the floods, droughts, storms, fires, poisons in air like barium BA, aluminum Al, Baal, and of course the microscopic nanotechnology. They’re doing great at what they do. No need to track a granny growing her fern and ivy. Crickets are sounding better every day, just leave us a little sea salt, not ur white bleached poison table salt..Version: 5.14.0

New Here, it’s 50% helpful & 50% lackingFirst glance I noticed a lot of plants listed with their background information to give you a good overall idea of the responsibility and expertise needed to keep it thriving. There’s a search bar to find specifics you are looking for as well. Some of the information listed is vague and/or missing, with no helpful tips or information for those that don’t know what half of the stuff on each profile means. I wish there was a filter option or some way to specifically search for non-toxic plants for babies and animals.. but you just have to go one by one and see what it says. I have yet to come across anything that doesn’t say weed, toxic to everyone or toxic to animals, so not sure they even will specify any details I’m needing. I know it says how often to water each plant, but any special water like ph wise? Plant food? How often does it need new mulch/dirt? How big do they get? Indoor or outdoor? How often should you repot? Etc..Version: 4.27.0

It’s good but I’m waiting for it to be greatSo I got on this app and I took a picture of one of my plants and I know that it’s not a fruit it’s a flower and App said that it was sick so when I got on how to take care of it it made me pay I think that’s super stupid you probably delete that because I’m going to delete the game I am very mad that you make me pay for stuff because I am only nine and my mom will kill me if I just take her money to pay for a game I’m gonna give you six days to respond and if you don’t respond I’m deleting the game it’s so stupid that you made it do that Other than that I really like the game and today was my first my other than that I really like the game and today was my first day of serendipity at school and I got a plant from it And it said it was A perry Winkel on the tag and I bring it home I took a picture of it and it said it was a periwinkle so other than that one incident I am very happy 😊.Version: 4.8.1

Helped me a lotI had one dream for a very long time. I saw how one girl herself grew an avocado on her windowsill. It looked so cute that I really wanted to try it too. For a long time, my bones did not grow and I did not know what I was doing wrong. In the end, one still took root and I was in the 7th heaven with happiness. I ran around with this avocado sprout, substituted it in the sun, and did everything as they write on the Internet. But after a while, he began to look worse. Its leaves dropped and became covered with yellow spots. I was depressed. Then I downloaded this application and experts helped me find the right care for my plant. And everything worked out! What's more, they told me why my other avocado seeds didn't sprout. I tried to follow their advice and things went much better! Hopefully, soon I will have a whole grove of avocado on my windowsill!.Version: 2.0.3

A wonderful surpriseI have more plants that I can count and stopped counting after 25 😂!! When my 15 year old niece told me about your app and how awesome and easy it is to use, I was skeptical. I have used other apps in the past, that after using a few times I never used again, because they are either not user friendly or did not let me store my plant pics on. Well she came over my house tonight and demonstrated how she uses the app on her phone and we started to identify some of my houseplants and had a lot of fun comparing all the new plant facts we learned!! I appreciate that the app is clear and simple to understand and how easy it is to navigate, and you now have a new fan/customer and I will eagerly spread my positive experience with the many nature and plant lovers that I know. thank you ☺️.Version: 4.30.0

Very helpful and easy to use!I love plants and have owned mine for about 2+ years, but I am still relatively new to identifying them and allowing them to thrive in my home. This app has made learning about my houseplants less tedious and is very straightforward with care routines, although allowing you the freedom to customize what you are notified for and why. There are in app purchases that give you access to seeing treatment plans if your plant is looking a little sad or sick that you can’t otherwise see for free, but if you’re a dedicated plant owner and lover, it makes the process really accessible and user friendly. The base app allows you to identify and set custom watering schedules to your plants for free, so purchases aren’t necessary if that’s all you’re interested in. Very simple and pleasant to use!.Version: 5.16.0

So it’s a cool idea?I really like the idea of an AI based plant care/identifier app. However it is not for those with “weird” plants. I own a bunch of exotic plants that your average person probably does not. I have a dwarf cavendish tree (the app said it was a Lilly) they do look similar I’ll give it that. The I tried scanning my variegated monstera plant. The app said it was an apothos. Ok also can understand that with the white mutation on the monstera. So then I tried scanning my different pitcher plants both american and Asian species. It doesn’t recognize there is different types of pitcher plants and just categorizes them as the same. I tried scanning my lime tree and came up as a lemon tree. That is almost accurate they both look very similar and are both citrus. The only plant I own that it was able to successfully identify was my aloe plant…. And I’m pretty sure most 5 year olds can identify that. Overall not very impressed but it could be cool in the future?.Version: 4.12.0

Best app for plant careThe basic standard free version is more than enough to make sure that you are always taking good care of your plant babies. If you have the money to spend the advanced version of the app has far more detailed plant care advice. I highly recommend if you got the cash to pay for the app. If you don’t no worries. Like I said, the basic version is still more than you need. The only way you could kill your plants is by not downloading this app. The one downside this app has is trying to identify plants via photograph. It does not always give the correct plant. It’s best to look the plant up yourself then enter it in manually as opposed to relying on the photograph. Other than that, it’s rare I give five stars so that should say something..Version: 5.41.0

Great in theory, meh in practice.Hi! I enjoy this app but there are some issues. For one I’m not paying for a subscription or trying out the free trial & it won’t let me get a care plan for any plant! Also I don’t like how if I scan a sick plant I need to PAY to figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it. One great thing about PlantIn tho is the feed page where you can post about your plants and get help caring for them. Although there is an issue with that too. So many people post non-plant related content. I understand that it’s okay once in a while but my page is flooded with non-plant related posts. Maybe there should be a way to report a non-plant related post and it will give whoever posted it a reminder/warning that this is a plant app and you should be posting about PLANTS. Not your favorite show on Netflix or your dog, PLANTS. So in conclusion this app is great in theory, meh in practice. -DaughterOfDemeter.Version: 4.8.1

Good starting point and trackerI like this app for the photo recognition and information on most plants. I tried the free version for 2 months before spending the fee for the full app. In my opinion, worth the money. I have learned from this app and now have a collection of 67 plants..Version: 5.46.1
