The High School Equivalency Test (HISET) is a new alternative to the GED test that can assist you in obtaining the vital state-issued high school equivalency certification. Passing the HiSET exam demonstrates that you have attained the academic knowledge and proficiency of a high school graduate. The HiSET exam has also been matched with the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards for Adult Education published by the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) in April 2013. Employers and authorized colleges in all 50 states accept the HiSET diploma/certificate. Furthermore, because the HiSET exam examines critical components of the CCR Standards for Adult Education and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), it assists in identifying areas in which you are career and college-ready. A subtest score of 15 reflects college and career preparedness.

You will have a maximum of 4.25 hours to answer the 297 questions on the exam. When the dust settles, you need a minimum percentage of 75% to pass the test.

Questions in the HISET test are categorized into 5 core areas:
- Language Arts – Reading
- Language Arts – Writing
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
