Knots 3D App Comments & Reviews
Knots 3D Positive Reviews
My Go-To Knot Guide!I’ve been through quite a few knot “guides” in the App Store, and in my honest opinion this one is hands down the BEST one out there. First off, the repertoire is absolutely amazing. It contains every essential knot that one could ever need on a day-to-day basis, for hobbies, survivalists, climbers, or professionals which job would require some form of knot tying. In addition, it contains lots of other specialty or unique knots, that I haven’t seen in other apps altogether as they are here. Secondly it has the best video/animated how to section I’ve seen out there as well. The graphics are great, and the fact that you can change the speed of the animation as well as it’s orientation/perspective gives you complete control, allowing users to tie even the most difficult of knots with ease. As a bonus, it gives a detailed written description of each knot, as well as information about it’s origin and any adaptations over time. You can even select similar knots by selecting one of the options it gives you at the bottom for a quick change to a different note for the same function. The only way this app could possibly improve, which it already does on a fairly regular basis, would be to add more knots! Although to be fair, I don’t really know how many more knots are out there that aren’t already covered. Take a look at the animations of, but they have available and if you like it, it’s definitely worth the purchase. I’ve been a happy customer for years. Five stars all the way!!.Version: 8.8.2
Always Struggled to Remember Knots! “Knot” Anymore!!I’m a highly intelligent person and I did sailing for years so when I say I was a mess when it came to knots I hope you understand how out of character that was for me. It didn’t seem I could learn them in any way that could stick with me. I tried and tried until I got THIS APP!!! I’ve climbed with rappelling ropes and done tree trimming, and I literally have whipped this app out while dangling above 50 feet of nothing below me and adjusted my Figure 8 Knot. I even know the NAMES of knots and alternatives because of this app!! I don’t recommend apps lightly, but this is one of the most consistently useful apps I have. It’s extremely clear, and you can slow the making of the knot down in the short animation so you see the key moments in making it. The descriptions are clear and for things like lashing stuff down in the back of your truck, or climbing, sailing, or even ornamental rope work, you can’t get a better or more informative app than this. It tells you where the knots are best used and what their best strengths are. Sure, you can look up more information online if you NEED more, but I find it’s more than enough what this app provides. It’s a concise and immediately useful guide to tying knots correctly every time. I have so many useless apps people have gotten me to download that when there is a great reference app like this, where all the information stays right on my phone even when there is no reception for the internet, it makes a real difference. I can’t recommend it enough; simple, straightforward brilliance..Version: 10.8.0
The best way to learn a new knot!I’ve been fascinated with knots since I was a Cub Scout, some 60+ years ago. I still have my first Boy Scout Manual and the only hand notation, in the table of contents, is the word Knots. That’s first thing I wanted to learn, how to tie a good knot. Knots 3D is the first application I bought, when I got my first iPhone, many years ago. I can’t give you a date, but as I recall, it was around 2011 and there were only about 70 knots in the application, at that time. Now, there’s 126 and I expect that number will continue to slowly increase. I have a large, hard bound copy, of the Ashley Book of Knots and it is an excellent reference, but for most of my needs, for the last several years, Knots 3D has been my go to source for learning, and teaching others, how to tie a good knot. I absolutely love the 3D renderings, in Knots 3D and I consider it to be the very best way to learn a knot. I have gifted this app to many of my friends and family members and will continue to do so. So, if you want to learn how to tie a good knot, in my opinion this is the best source you’ll ever find. TinTexas.Version: 5.6.2
Best knot app, hands down!As a Scout leader, I find this app SUPER-HELPFUL, being able to show someone, (including myself), step-by-step, how to do some really difficult knots, as well as, the easy ones. Sometimes one may not remember, how to do a specific knot tied before, & this app gives you an easy, “oh yeah, now I recall” quick reminder, which is really handy. It’s fun to watch the “lightbulb” go off, so-to-speak, in someone else’s face, as they “get it,” when this app is able to show, (most of the time), with great ease, how to tie a knot, step-by-step. Being able to slow down, or speed up, the steps, as well as being able to turn the view around, to an opposite viewpoint. It’s great! I HIGHLY recommend this app. It is the absolute BEST, at showing how to tie knots. In fact, today, I am telling all of my fellow leaders in my troop to download this app, as we are responsible for teaching some knots to some fellow scouters, and scouts, at an upcoming camp-o-ree. Thumbs up, 5 stars. Kudos to the app developer(s) on such a well-done app!.Version: 9.6.1
I Can-Knot tell a lie, This is the best App for Knot-heads!I really love this application. I've owned this since 2012 and they have done nothing but made it better. It really is the best application to learn about different knots and how to tie them. Because of the ability to slow down and speed up the actual building of the knot, even if you're not very fast at tying knots you can keep up with the example. It also has examples of knots that you really can use and you want to use. Sailors need to know this information and this is the best place to get it, also it you have ever tied down stuff in a trailer, you need it too! I have built almost every knot listed but there are a couple that I still can't tie but it's no fault of the app. 😊 When I first got this it had about forty knots, now there are over one-hundred and twenty. But don't take it from me, just take a look at the reviews for this application. I don't remember ever seeing a program with reviews like this, I mean this baby really rocks!.Version: 5.0.0
File under: never knew you neededA+ for the selection and the way the visualization can be manipulated, seeing it from all sides and slowing it down or scrubbing back and forth. Knots have many a names so there's times where I'll have to search the internet for its other names before I find it in the app, but they are definitely all in the app. It helps me to familiarize myself with photos or videos of the knots in the real world on the web but then it's indispensable having the app in the field as a resource to "remind" myself how the knot is tied. But learning is a worthy endeavor and you won't believe how often you can use knots more functional than a square knot around the house. I used a simple constructor knot to tie yard scraps up using an ivy vine I pulled from the pile of sticks and blew my neighbors mind..Version: 9.6.4
Always some wiggle room for improvement. When there is an evaluation of an item, in the minds of others when pushed, there is always room for improvement. One such item that comes to mind is the finishing of the not itself so as to show what a finishing dressed knot would look like. A second would be to be able to change the pattern/color of the rope(s) to better able to visualize the knot. This item could include white without a pattern in a 3 strand configuration. A third comment would be to add suggestions by others to add knots that haven’t made this list. The last suggestion entails on the different ways a particular way the knot could be made, as some can be acquired using different tact. I have to add that I really like this app and go to it constantly, really! Climbing trees and taking them down from the top requires a lot of rope learning to do it safely. Thanks.Version: 8.5.0
Not Good…I went immediately to payment after seeing the positive reviews, the number of knots covered, and the very cool-looking graphics. Unfortunately, there are ZERO instructions for actually tying a knot - not a single one - so those cool-looking graphics are ALL there… Good luck following the animations in hopes of actually LEARNING any of them - with no text, no tips, no photos of anyone actually tying the knot, no indication of where or how to grasp and hold the lines, etc. If you are good at following the animations, and are willing to do so dozens of times, you could possibly learn some of these - except that many of the animations show both ends of the rope or line moving AT THE SAME TIME. Seriously, it’s a nightmare - clever graphics, but of absolutely no use….Version: 7.7.0
THE Best Knotting AppI'm a macramè artist, and while I'm proficient with all the knots I "need" for this purpose, I'm also fascinated by all the practical and safety uses of knots. Despite being staunch that "I-will-not-pay-for-apps", the solid reviews and impressive preview images prompted me to take a chance and fork out the $1.99 for this one. After purchasing, I am far more impressed than I thought possible. The history, practical uses, alternate names, and especially the incredible interactive 3-D graphic animation make it totally worth every penny. I especially love that I can control the speed of the animation. Highly recommend, even to those with only a casual interest in knot tying (but is an incredible resource for the more serious ones as well.) Five thumbs up. 👍👍👍👍👍.Version: 5.0.0
Great! As a former Boy Scout, sailor and someone who has spent a lot of time thinking about how to teach people how to tie knots, this is a truly great tool for learning and teaching knots. You can see the knot from every angle. The animations are clear and the speed can be controlled. The color choices make the illustrations very clear. You can also view static images of the animations by moving your finger left and right across the image. I especially appreciate the accompanying history, uses, related knots and safety precautions. They are clear and concise. It’s a lot easier to learn to tie knots using this app than it is using Ashley’s Book of Knots. I have recommended it to my friends, family and anyone who expresses an interest in knot-tying..Version: 5.9.8
The Holy Grail of Knot-Tying ReferencesThroughout my 40-year career as a full-time outdoor writer/photojournalist I have written, photographed and illustrated dozens of "how-to" magazine stories, feature sidebars and columns relevant to the tying and application of the great many specialized knots essential to fishing, boating, camping and more. My peers and I have wistfully imagined an app like this for decades. Now that it's a reality, it's all that we hoped it to be and more. The variable-speed animated illustrations portray a formerly challenging process with a clarity that is far above and beyond anything I and my friends in the outdoor press could ever have visualized. Five stars and an appreciative tip of the old fishing cap to those who conceptualized and created this innovative, easy-to-use game-changer of an app..Version: 5.0.0
Such an underrated app!I’ve never written a review of an app without the app having to ask for a review first, until today. I have had this app for years, and I remember back when I got it “ok this app looks pretty good, it’ll probably just stay the same like a lot of apps”, but the people behind Knots 3D actually really care about their creation! I frequently see updates that genuinely add to and improve what the app has to offer. They’ve perfected their medium of displaying knot tying methods, and they increase the breadth of knots regularly! Always a go-to app when I need a knot in a pinch. Thank you developers for your hard work!.Version: 10.6.0
Why this app is greatI use this app lots because they able to use off-line and online. An example of this would be if you’re in BSA (boy scouts of America), going fishing, or wanting to learn something new then you could go over the knots you want to learn or practice. Sometimes I forget the knots and I use this app to memorize the ones I know so I don’t forget them. Another thing is that you could flip the knot, turn the knot, and customize the speed with it being all in 3D. This could be helpful if you don’t understand it that much when you are trying to learn how to do the knot..Version: 8.9.0
Easiest knot appJust download the app and go! Unlike other knot apps, this one is ready to use when you open it. Other app, you have individually download each knot which can be a pain (especially if your say, out in the woods and have no internet). All the knots are free, so you you don’t have to “upgrade to the pro version” to get the knot you need (I personally believe that all app that that do that should be obligated to call themselves the lite version). The animation is smooth and you can control the speed. Does it have as many knots as other apps? No. But it’s beautifully designed, works offline, easy to use and free..Version: 5.8.5
Awesome for reminding me at camp!!This app is awesome! It doesn’t use phone data so knot info is always available on your phone, even out in the forest where there’s no signal. Knots are easy to find even if you don’t know the name. This app has never bothered me in any way...sometimes a good app can have a bothersome flaw. This app is awesome in every way!!! ———————— I do wish that there was a game feature to it. So if you have a group of people on a rainy day at camp, or even all alone, you can: Select a category of knots, all knots, or favorite knots; Each person has a piece of rope, a suitable object to tie around, a ring or carabiner, and a stick(toggle); Someone presses the ‘Start Game’ Button and a random knot from the selected list of knots appears on the screen - maybe there could be an option to include or exclude a picture of the finished knot; Everyone attempts to tie the random knot; Keep score however you want (I don’t expect a scoring system to be determined by the app designer); Have fun and learn knots!!!.Version: 5.8.5
Great appI have books on tying knots but find this application to be better than any of them. The ability to rotate the view, so it’s more easily understood for us left-handers, plus speeding or slowing down the visuals, is fantastic. The ability to mark your favorites so you can come back to them it’s very nice.. I did not grow up learning to tie knots ( we didn’t learn that in my Brownie troop, LOL) so I really like the explanations for uses and other info for each knot. I have recently had the need to tie some knots for specific purposes, and this app showed me how. The price for such a terrific app is amazing..Version: 7.5.0
Best way to pass the timeI have started using this app to help phase out the compulsive social media need from my life. It’s such a great way to pass that same time, but instead learning every new knot you can possibly think of. I will now often sit for long stretches at a time with my section of paracord practicing, and it’s therapeutic like any craft would be. The UI is easy to navigate and the 3D diagrams make it completely painless to learn. A must for anyone interested in camping, boating, hunting, or just about anything that vaguely involves a cord or rope. If that matches you in any way don’t go without this app!.Version: 5.9.8
Excellent Utility!Fire Dep’t instructor; Kayaking; two activities where right knots may be life saving & prevent injuries. Knowledge is critical! This app keeps my skills sharp, renewing & improving on the go! Presentation is key, Knots 3D has been a great resource I open often to review, learn, practice!! From newbies (probies) to experts this app is perfect! Fast program, great graphics - there’s no other apps approach Knots 3D. I have books, other apps but this one is on front page of my phone for ready and frequent access. And it has versions of popular knots no one else bothers to show but are often better applications..Version: 5.9.8
SpectacularThis app has to be a he best out there. I was a boyscout 35 years ago. Some of these knots I had forgotten. I’ve refreshed and learned so many I’d never even heard of that are useful in everyday life applications. I carry rope in my truck. I choose rope and my knot capabilities now are superior and tough for whatever the application may be. Highly suggest getting this app even if it’s to just pass the time and learn some new rope tricks. I just can’t say enough good about this application. Wish I had this available 35 years ago. Thank you so much. Mike Reese.Version: 7.5.1
Worth ItThis app is severely undervalued - don’t tell them I said this, but I would’ve paid at least $5.00 for this. They couldn’t have done a better job building the app - it’s perfect. Keep in mind that there are hundreds of knots out there that aren’t included in this app (this app has about 126 knots at the time of this writing) but in their defense, it’d take years to build an app that included every knot in existence. All you military cats out there probably know how to tie a healthy portion of the knots they have in here, but if nothing else, this is a good refresher. If you’re a beginner with tying knots, this app will be the greatest teaching tool you’ll ever need. I’ve always been ridiculously lousy at tying knots...like I’ve had a couple people show me over and over how to tie certain knots, and I just couldn’t wrap my head around some of the techniques. With the 3D 360° views on each knot diagram, this will make you an expert in a matter of hours..Version: 5.6.2
A knot for every purposeI was a Boy Scout way back in the olden days, before the earth’s crust had fully cooled, like the early sixties. My patrol would always win the monkey bridge competition at the Camp-o-Ree and I thought I knew just about every knot that a boy (scout) could ever need. Maybe so, but there are a ton of knots here that I didn’t know. And the app not only shows how to tie them in simple steps, it tells what the knots are good for and why one might be better than another for a particular purpose. So this comes personally endorsed by the former patrol leader of the Pioneer patrol, Troop 542, Quivera Council, Boy Scouts of America..Version: 6.4.0
Insanely great appThank you, thank you thank you. I think this is one of the best apps that I’ve used, seriously and I’m not like a knot guy or anything. It’s insanely clean and smooth during playback. I love how you can flip and rotate the angle to see the 3-D knot in different axes. The ability to loop over and over slowly really helps, especially when stuck and need a different angle to see my mistake. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve used this app to create the right knot at the right time. It’s amazing the amount of detail and the sheer quantity of knots that are included. The history of the individual knots and the application are actually useful. Unbelievably, new additional knots are added occasionally, and the content is refreshed. Now, if I could just memorize one or two of these and not have to use the app. That would be indeed the perfect app. Maybe next revision.Version: 10.4.0
I love this app as much as I love camping 🏕🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩So, I’m a scout, and I’m struggling on knots and I’m trying to learn them easier, and my mom downloaded this app to help me on my knots. You can take rope with you on the go, and the app can help you teach them. One of my personal favorites is the Sheet Bend knot. Knots are very easy on this app because you can make the instructions faster or slower, you can make the knot upside down, and you can get a 360 degree view. I fell in love with this app so much I checked it out with my mom. If it wasn’t for this app, my life would be depressing, and miserable..Version: 6.4.0
Best knots app on the market3-D Knots is the best app for tying knots on the market. Whatever situation you may find yourself and whatever you needs I’m be for a knot this app will help you to successfully tie the not that is required. I highly recommend this app to anyone who may have a need to tie knots. The simple examples of how to tie the knots are easy to follow and replicate. The customer service of the company is top notch and very easy to work with if you have a problem. This is a must have app for all and one that you need in your library..Version: 8.6.0
Absolute best knot appI love this knot app. If you tie any knots in any line or rope you need this app! There’s an every growing list of 191 knots organized by type, use, need to know etc. Each knot has an easy to follow tying animation that you can slow down, speed up, flip and rotate so you can see the knot tied in the same way you want to hold the lines to tie. Each knot also has an attached history with pros and cons, tying pearls and similar knot suggestions. For the love of knots, buy this app, you won’t regret it..Version: 8.9.0
Favorites keep disappearingGreat app but favorites keep disappearing. Really frustrating to spend so much time creating a favorites list of the knots I would actually need to then open it up in the field to find it empty. It has happened at least 6 times now over the course of the last 2 years or so. That makes the app pretty unreliable for any professional who wants to use the app as a quick reference in the field. It’s not a quick process to go through and find the right knot so the favorites is a really important part of the app that seems to lack any real reliability..Version: 7.1.0
Fantastic!I don't know how many rope tying apps exist; this app is so good I have no need to search for anything else. It is easy to use, very well designed, and packed with a lot of information for a great price. The developers are still updating it with more content so it is even better than it was when I bought it a few years ago! Update: I continue to be impressed with the quality of this application. Grateful to developers and artists who have made it such a success!.Version: 8.6.0
Know Your KnotsBeen using this one for years. It’s free and the animations are good. There’s about 150 knots and they are arranged into categories of use. It’s a good app that gets updated with new knots from time to time. They give a brief history of each knot and how it is commonly used. There are no ads and I wonder how they do this all for free. Anyway I thank the developers for an imminently useful knot primer. My only nit is that the iPhone version doesn’t update, so once a year I off load the app and reinstall. This gives me all the new knots..Version: 7.5.0
Absolutely THE Best!Having been in Scouts as a youngster, then in the NAVY aboard ships for 7 years, then a commercial fisherman for 17 years, I’ve learned many a useful knot. This well animated app is a superior, easy to use and understand visual tutor on the skills of creating and applying hitches, etc. Tying a knot can be learned easily, however It’s the proper and safe way of using said knots that is most important. 3D Knots explains it all ! In my opinion it is hands-down the best educational application I have on my phone..Version: 8.2.1
You should own this appI struggled for years with the shame and inadequacy of not knowing how to tie proper knots. I found myself avoiding situations in which my sub par knotsmanship would be seen by others, and spent lots of money on bungie cords and ratchet tie downs to compensate. I never could learn from pictures and guides on the internet. This app has been a Godsend. I have been able to tie any knot I want with this and it even works with no service on your phone. The 3d models are awesome since you can see the knot at all stages from any angle..Version: 5.3.0
Good but falls short sometimesReally like the concept and this could be an awesome app with a little bit of tweaks. But unfortunately I'm learning new knots and when there's loops around the line and the line goes into them I can't really see of it wraps over the existing line or goes behind it or beside it... I tried to rotate it around while the tying motion occurs it jumps back to the facing view. If they could just add the ability to pan around while the tying motion occurs I could see 360 degrees around the knot at all times! Very good start but needs some improvement to be a teaching aid for the new comers..Version: 8.9.0
I think this is the most useful app in the storeThis app is one that you probably won’t use daily, but once you have it, you’ll be glad that it’s always within your reach. There are soooo many useful knots that you never knew you needed to know, that you’ll be thankful you’ve now got a way of learning how to tie them. From knots used in rescue, to knots used to organize and store your electrical cords, paracords, ropes, boating, lifting, hauling, survival, construction, the list goes on and on. Need to tie down the Christmas Tree to the top of your SUV to take home for the holidays and there’s no one around to tie it down? Do you have some heavy boxes that you need to lift up into the attic and no one around to help out? Securing a load of brush to a trailer? Wanting a more proficient means of storing extension cords you use for your edger or leaf blower or stuck in the mud and needing a way to hook up to a tow? Even if it’s just to show your kids how to lash together a small fort, or tie up a boat, or cinch down a tarp before a storm. Knots aren’t just for boaters or rock climbers. If you’ve got a bug out bag that’s worth anything it had better have a good length of rope or paracord and either are only as useful as the knowledge of the person using them. If the S hits the fan, any survivalist will tell you that paracord is invaluable. Use it like it is or break it down into snares, fishing lines, lashing for shelter, or as a means of climbing or rescue. This app is the encyclopedia of knots and the video instructions are simple to access and so very easy to follow. Speed up or slow down, reverse, change viewpoint, repeat, then tie it yourself. Choose from a vast, ever-growing selection of knots, save your favorites, or frequently used, or even earmark the ones you want to use on Valentines Day for that special someone in your life. After all, nothing says “I love you” like a heart shaped knot. If you have a need for rope or twine, or any type of cord, then this app should accompany it. I think once you have used this app, you’ll easily agree that it’s the most useful app in the App Store..Version: 8.0.5
Very practical, useful appI can’t overstate how handy it is to have over 120 different knots at my disposal, anytime. I’m always hauling crap that needs tying down, or working on some project where just the right knot makes everything easier. This app is far superior to any book, because you can zoom in, rotate, and see the knot actually being tied. I love it it’s worth more than they are charging. 95% of the App Store apps are actually useless for the real world. This is part of that 5% that is awesome..Version: 5.9.5
Fantastic knots appI bought this app because of my new interest in boating, and I thought learning some basic knots would be a good place to start. What a delight it was to find this app and see how perfectly it demonstrated the tying of so many helpful knots! The ability to slide a finger left over the knot image to untie the knot and right to retie it is fantastic. It’s a great way to really study a knot and commit it to memory. Not only is this a great knot app, it’s one of the best apps of any kind, period..Version: 5.9.7
Great knot learning tool. This is my go to app for knots. It has many features including speed up and slow down animations, can spin the knot around and see it from all angles, can cause the to animate forwards and backwards with touchscreen, etc. Nice color contrast if two ropes are involved. High resolution makes for great visual clarity. I highly recommend this app. Oh, and there are so many knots that are available with historical context added as well..Version: 10.8.4
ScoutingI have had this app for many years. I’ve used it and organized knots into categories for a quick reference. As the old thing goes, “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.” It’s been a great tool with scouts. I pull this app out to show the 3D visual to help solidify their not skills. I like that you can control the speed of the demonstration. And also, you can turn the nut to look at it from all angles..Version: 9.6.2
Excellent. Add random practice of the day.Excellent. Please allow feature for random knot of the day to practice. Keep track of when last tried, to avoid repeating early – never give 2 different knots on same day, no matter how many times tried for the day. Have user judge as easy or hard. Keep stats of progress, time spent on each knot, and allow export in Excel format via email. Help users get better by focusing training on their weaknesses. Offer encouragement..Version: 7.0.2
Efficient and effectiveThe animation runs at adjustable speeds, so fast-forwarding through the “easy” parts and then slowing it back down, and having the option to pause, really make it user-friendly. Every knot profile links to other knots that have similar uses and has expanded my knowledge base. The additional feature of being able to add favorites makes it easy to find what I’m working on come practice time. Definitely worth money spent!.Version: 5.7.0
If you're Knot an Idiot you would buy this app.I thought I was knot going to get this app because of its 2 dollar price point but I was pleasantly surprised. Knot only does it show you how to tie each knot in 3D, it also gives you a description of what each knot can be used for. Knot only that but it also gives you preset categories that you can select from so you can make sure to get the ones you need and knot the ones you dont. I give it 5 Knots out of 5 Knots..Version: 5.0.0
Great app for both beginners and experiencedThe knots 3D app is just what I needed as a novice. The full action motion of performing the knot with pause, rotation, and speed controls allows anyone to be able to use this app to learn and perform the knot actions. The search capabilities allows for finding similar knots by categorizing them by sport and function. Forgot how to make that knot? Need to find a knot for a specific purpose? This app is the one you want!!!.Version: 8.3.0
4.9 StarsOk, I'll round up. This app is fantastic. It does everything I could want in a knot app. Except... Now, maybe it's just me, but is there not an option to play the animation on loop? Having to stop and hit play every time is a bit of a hang up for me. Actually it's what keeps me from singing all its praises. I can't in good conscience dock a full star for that. Maybe it's there and I just can't find it. Want that last .1 star? It's yours for the option to loop..Version: 5.0.0
Best resource for learning and remembering in fieldThis app is amazing, I bought it years ago and would do it again. It's great in the field, when you don't have any cell service, and you need to remember the specifics of a knot, or find a new one for the circumstances. But its also nice to look through ahead of time, and check out the similar knots and advantages/disadvantages..Version: 8.4.1
I Challenge You to Find a Better Knot Resource!I’ve owned this app for at least 2 years. I learned a ton when I first downloaded it so I haven’t had to rely on it as often as I did when I got started with it. It may not have as many knots as some books do, but it has the really important life saving ones and that’s what counts! Every single time I use this app, it impresses me! The UI is clean, fluid, intuitive, and is very eye pleasing. The animations are smooth and you can easily control the speed. This app should be a reference for other app developers. Do what these guys did and you’ll have something great! Thanks to the developer(s)! You guys really did an incredible job and I thank you!.Version: 7.5.1
A MasterpieceI learned the six basic knots in the Boy Scouts. Then many more from The Boy Scout Book of Knots. Then 3,000+ more from the Ashley Book of Knots. Okay, not all 3,000. And now, a quantum leap forward. What a marvelous piece of work. For those who have trouble figuring out Knots from a book, a Godsend. And, so very well done. At any price, buy this. Then, learn some Knots. Fun, and on occasion, the right knot may save your life. Or, at least, make things much, much better..Version: 5.0.0
Great AppI am currently a deckhand on a boat completely new to knots and this app is great. Very informative and love the 3D Simulation. I have 2 issues though, it would be better with step by step instructions and also more importantly if the simulation showed the knot to completion. It helps to check the knots I’ve tried if I can see how it looks closed. Would recommend 8/10.Version: 7.8.0
Top-notch app for learning and quick referenceAt the top level I like the comprehensive selection of knots, the ways to find them by application category or name or end-use, and the ability to save to favorites. For the knots themselves: the clear animations with speed control, the strengths and weaknesses of the knot, and the cross-reference to similar knots. I find myself using this app more often than I imagined..Version: 5.9.8
My go-to for knotsI have many knot books, including the Ashley Book of Knots, but this app is what I always go to. It has most every knot I need and the library is constantly expanding. The animations are simple, detailed, and easy to follow. One of the most important things for me about this app is that I can use it offline, so when I am out fishing or hunting with no signal, I still have my library of knots..Version: 5.8.5
Excellent ReferenceIt is all you need! The only addition that I can suggest is a recommendation for practicing these knots at home in your easy chair plus a suggestion for cord or line that is big enough to easily see and manipulate and smooth enough that your trial knots are easy to tighten. Maybe even a knot tying kit including an anchor point to start tying your knot? Would make a great teaching tool..Version: 10.0.2
Great AppI used the app mostly for fishing knots. I especially like the 3D videos that show you exactly how to tie each knot. Many of the knots I have used before but sometimes don’t remember the details. The app is easy to use and very handy when out on the boat giving you access anywhere and time you need to reference a particular knot..Version: 9.6.4
Nice 3D visualLike the visual 3D to learn the different types of knots. do a 360 view, rotate and flip it round to learn your favorite ones. A big plus - you could get to the favorite knots too that you’ve hearted. Not sure how I missed but all your favorites are there in one place, make it easy to find them. Also you able to check out other related knots of your selections. Very helpful and sure come in handy..Version: 6.5.0
Sometimes I just find myself browsingReplay speed is sweet..Version: 10.0.3
So useful!Absolutely love this app. Great animations and easy to use. 👌.Version: 10.8.4
Make this the Go-ToI think this app could be the go-to app for knots. I am going to be a little critical, because want to see this app succeed and improve, so I held back a star. It’s a great app and will help all those who need a knot reference on the fly, and especially where wireless signals may not be reaching you. First: the animations need a restart from beginning feature. I don’t get things at first cue, and want to repeat the steps. A simple restart the animation option would relieve a lot of frustration of having to rewatch and mess with the animation speed trying to find the beginning stop again. Heck, if the makers want to get this app super premo, the animations could have chapters. If the makers don’t want to spend the time doing so, let the users put their own bookmarks in as chapters, and they then can skip to the steps they need refreshing on! Second: the heart is great, then you can pick you favourite and navigate to it easily, but what if the app had a rating for knots, then a user could try similar knots, and rate their favourite and so that the community could push usefulness and popularity to the top. There are a lot of knots out there that this app doesn’t cover and some better than what’s on here, so user feedback could allow the cream to rise to the top. This app has the potential to be the modern knot Bible. Wouldn’t that be sweet, a social media community app for knots! Hey, there’s even opportunity to market rope and cordage through this app. Heck, I am liking these ideas so much, I should buy the rights and develop it - but that’s not my expertise. Any takers?.Version: 8.9.0
Great App highly recommendThis is a great app for learning knots. The 3D feature is very useful & you can turn the knot for a different view. My only issue is when you’re looking at a long list & view a knot then go back to the list it starts at the top again..Version: 10.8.4

Perfect app.Perfect balance of simplicity and knowledge. Just enough information to understand the knots history, strengths and weaknesses. Crazy easy to use the animations. I really can’t emphasize enough how good this app is. Honestly it’s more useful than Ashley’s original book. Which is the encyclopedia of knot books. But this app is the cream of that knowledge..Version: 7.7.0
