Brotato:Premium Positive Reviews

Weird.. 1 star reviewsIf any of you are wondering why so many weird reviews complaining about this and that. Most of it is just stupid people being stupid. I was quite concerned. And didn’t really want to buy this. Im usually in favor of being critical about a game but... I don’t really play many games on mobile or look at the reviews for mobile either. And..My god the mobile players complain about the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard of. And I just bought it. This version… the none free version is basically the pc version without the mobile garbage like the game trying to make you watch ads every 10 seconds. Nothing more too it. Now is it up to date and equivalent to the pc Version. Probably not from peoples reviews. I’ll trust them on that but, I don’t really think it matters There’s so many characters and items it just seems The same as the pc version. And apparently that’s bad for some people. I guess the free version has more “content”. I don’t really know what that type of content it is and if your like me you probably don’t really care. Brotato IS THE PC VERSION. NOT this garbage free ad cancer trash. I’ve been played this game in early access for 2 years. If you just want to play brotato on mobile like I did this is the way to go. Without these other competitors with horrible ads and terrible gameplay. It’s the same great price on pc as well. Only 5 dollars. Mobile players I guess are used to being manipulated so they don’t understand what a full priced game means. It means you pay once and never pay again. EVER. you don’t half to watch ad after ad. You play the game you paid for. End of the story..Version: 1.3.62

Concerns - but Great GameI’ve played this game off Phone and Gaming PC, and it has been acting strange. For iOS, it keeps asking for my Apple Login EVERY TIME I open the app, gave it once, but it still continues to ask… just seems strange. It should be syncing with my iCloud Game Center if it needs my Apple login. There are other games on iOS just like this, some of which are also resource demanding, but not understanding how THIS is the only one resulting in a very slow phone (16 Pro Max btw). Gaming PC… I’m able to play the newest games on MAX settings, I work in the IT Security industry and have a super computer used for hosting VM servers and can still run the new COD at max settings… however, after playing this game for a few minutes, all of my monitors started slowing… and when I mean slowing, I mean 120 refresh rate when I CLOSED the game, resulting in my mousing moving a frame a minute. Not to make claims, but on PC (and maybe phone) it shows the same behavior as a crypto miner… and it’s such a light weight game, which is why it does not make very much sense..Version: 1.3.183

Perfect mobile portThis version of Brotato is an amazing port of an amazing game. You can play a round or several anytime, anywhere. It even saves your items and wave progression when you need to exit to main menu. The DLC works just as good as console versions as well. I haven’t experienced any crashes or bugs yet and I have beaten it with several Brotatos already. You can unlock COUNTLESS characters, items, and difficulty levels to keep the gameplay fresh and interesting. Brotato is probably the best rogue lite game you can own for the iPhone or mobile devices. I highly recommend it for any console really. It is right under Risk of Rain 2 in every aspect. Absolutely amazing game..Version: 1.3.124

Improvements?Big fan here. It seems to me like in an effort to make the game more challenging you have altered some of the way the stats work. It almost seem counter intuitive now: I have a 28% doge stat, but my character get hurt easier than before. Add more speed and the enemies become way faster. Add armor? You take more damage. If you want to make the game more challenging think of other things may be, but this takes the fun out of the game because your character development doesn’t feel reflected on the actual gameplay. It was exciting to see you have slight advantages based on your choices. Now reaching higher waves based on this fun premise seems to have gone south and not enjoying the game as much when you have a high stat that seems useless. It feels the game is working against you for the sake of it in an unbalanced arbitrary way and I’m loosing fun playing it. It’s a cool game, don’t ruin it just for the sake of making it harder.Version: 1.3.44

IPad experience - it’s like playing the game with tunnel visionGreat game! 5 stars on the iPhone, But on the iPad it’s just short of being great. I generally play games on the iPad because it sounds better, it’s bigger, and I can See More of what’s on screen. Unfortunately with the iPad version of Brotato, it certainly is Bigger and sounds great, BUT I actually see LESS of the game (and I’m playing on the big screen version of the iPad). That means: the time I have to react to enemies appearing on screen is very short compared to the iPhone. On iPhone i see enemies coming a LOT sooner, and as a direct result, I die less. Sure it’s nice to see your character and enemies up close, but I would have like the zoomed out view more than this “tunnel vision” experience. I would love to play this game with an expanded view on the tablet, and keep the tunnel view as an optional mode in settings for those who like it (and like dying more often)..Version: 1.2.44

Challenging, good until…You hit difficulty 5. I’ve been hit out in the open, hit boxes seem to shift for the worse and enemies will move “out of pattern” ( this is probably the most justified thing i tend to rage out on ). However I thought it was just me until sinking some hours in tonight on the game, but my character randomly “freezes” up, PARTICULARLY the better items I get. The game doesn’t stutter, runs super smooth etc., my character will just stand still. Then it becomes a split second difficulty in trying to regain control of the situation in a difficulty already stacked against you in combination of my previously listed gripes. So all in all I tend to play easier difficulties as that odd freezing character glitch seems to suddenly either go away or happen an incredible amount less. Gripes aside, my honest critique is the games depth is locked behind its difficulty. It’s not a super in depth game for its genre, if you are decent at it you will blow through it so to speak. Part of the reason being you only unlock items and/or characters ( usually one of each give or take ) per run depending on certain conditions. No item re rolling, banishing, improvement, etc. As far as the good goes it is incredibly addicting, runs very smoothly, and is easy to get lost in. Despite my average rating I will be continuing on and blasting away, knowing to simply take the highest difficulty in stride given the odd nature in which it’s applied. Many characters to choose from, many weapons to wield and play styles to have fun with! Thanks for the game, devs! Pretty entertaining!.Version: 1.3.90

A disappointing port of an amazing gameWhen you port a game from keyboard and mouse to phone you tend to tune down the difficulty. While most enemies appear identical and the player as powerful as the steam release (iPhone version is several patches behind but I digress) the bosses behave dramatically differently in this release Let’s look at the butcher in particular. The first phase is almost impassible, the visual indicators for damage are almost a full second shorter than the steam release based on my timings. This leads to the only viable solution is going so fast that you pass the danger which isn’t realistic, stand completely still, or guess the direction. I have a maxed save on steam but I have doubts I’ll ever pass difficulty 4 with the current version. I look forward to launching this in 6 months and having everything be better. The devs tend to take their time but their quality is unquestioned.Version: 1.2.35

Great game. Mobile version has some flaws. So Brotato is awesome. I actually bought the steam version after playing this one, and that’s when I realized how busted this port is. The game is so much harder on mobile. Touch controls are going to be inherently more difficult for a game like this, but there are game mechanics that are for some reason tuned to be less forgiving in this version. The Butcher is basically a run ender because his attacks are so fast that the only way to dodge them is pure luck. Healing items don’t leash to the player when you walk by like they do on PC. The shop tagging system feels like it isn’t quite working, but admittedly that may be RNG for me. Anyway I know that they are aware of these issues, and if they fix them I’ll fix my rating. Until then I’ll be playing on steamdeck..Version: 1.2.44

My New AddictionI don’t usually review games on my phone, but this one is an exception. I decided to give Brotato a 2nd chance after not clicking with the Steam version, and it’s been very fun! There’s a good amount of strategy and surprising difficulty in runs, while still being unique in this roguelike Vampire Survivors genre. My main issue with Vampire Survivors is that it’s too easy and repetitive and didn’t give me a reason to return to it after completing the 2nd DLC. Brotato’s shop based strategies differentiate it from the rest of the genre, and it’s topped with a cute style that’s easy on the eyes. It’s like this game was made for mobile, check it out if you love strategy games!.Version: 1.3.95

Doesn’t deserve less than 5*, just some minor complaintsAs somebody who has put dozens of hours into the Steam version, seeing this on iOS was an instant buy. It’s definitely a 5* game, but I wish the UI was more like the the PC version, especially when playing this on iPad, it seems like there’s a lot less information available on the upgrade screen that could easily fit on an iPad screen, but isn’t included. Additionally, the game only has partial controller support, which isn’t a dealbreaker, but it is annoying to have to switch between the two. Still highly recommended for the price, keep it up, devs!.Version: 1.3.6

The best offline game to play with friendsEven better now that I can play this anywhere with my iPad Pro 11-inch (M5) and PS5 controller(s) with friends. This is one of the rare times I prefer using an iPad for something. Excited about this. Hopefully Apple starts to double down on gaming, because this is going in such the right direction. The way Brotato meshes both controller and tap aspects of this game are truly impressive. This is a new way for me to play Brotato and I wish I would’ve known about this on iPad sooner (usually play on a TV and PS5). Thank you Brotato and Bullet Heaven Action Roguelike for making such an incredible game..Version: 1.3.227

Really fun but dont buy this version :/I really enjoy the elements that this game takes from other games by being roguelike having autochess-like builds. Its able to blend these elements really well while still being unique enough to have its own identity. The only reason the rating is 4 stars and not 5 is because I and many others payed full price for this game and with the full game (which is much more polished) being released with another pay option feels unfair to the early supporters. If there is any way to either add a feature to unlock the full polished game for buyers of this version or to bring the same polish to this version of the game it would really show appreciation for the early supporters..Version: 1.3.6

Great game, but port has some quirksReally enjoying my time with the game so far (~15 hours in). The iPad scaling issues look to have been fixed, but a few things: - Using WASD to move on the iPad Pro keyboard causes the character to move in that direction for ~a second, instead of just a little like on desktop which makes it impossible to navigate properly using it - The cloud saving sometimes has issues and doesn’t sync often enough to where there are mismatches. A force sync option or upload / download button would be helpful to ensure progress is synced.Version: 1.2.30

Fantastic GameI discovered this game in Xbox GamePass and fell in love with it. Then I discovered that it was available on iOS and bought it immediately! This is the perfect little game to pick up and play on the go and satisfies my dungeon crawler urge. I’m there are two version of this game I discovered. The free one includes the normal game, but you have in game currency to unlock certain characters or other aspects of the game. It is a great addition to let others get a feel for what this game is before paying for it and should be played as well as the free one. Highly recommend this game!.Version: 1.3.159

Fun but with notesI am enjoying this game. When it was first suggested to me, I was skeptical, however it passes quickly. There is a lot of strategy involved and it’s a relatively quick game to pick up and put down. I do have a suggestion. In between waves, have an option to look at the character you chose. I pick different characters to try different styles or try to unlock a character, but then I forgot what penalties and bonuses come with that character. When I am choosing items, it would be nice to see my unique abilities..Version: 1.3.66

Request to add iOS Home Indicator gesture protectionI’m playing Brotato on iPhone, and I often accidentally trigger the iOS Home Indicator gesture at the bottom of the screen during gameplay. This causes the game to minimize or interrupts my control, especially when I’m moving or dodging near the bottom area. Could you consider enabling iOS system gesture deferral for the bottom edge during gameplay? On iOS, this would make the bottom Home Indicator require an extra swipe before leaving the game, which is very useful for full-screen games and helps prevent accidental exits. This issue affects the gameplay experience quite a lot, especially in intense moments. It would be great if you could add this as a default behavior during matches, or provide an option such as “Prevent accidental Home Indicator swipes” / “Gesture protection” in the settings. Thank you for your work on the game! Best regards..Version: 1.3.235

Awesome game, unintentionally difficult portBrotato is a great game, you can read other reviews for that. But this mobile port has some very large and gamebreaking bugs that make it far far more difficult than the PC version. Some of the highest impact bugs: -The Butcher elite on wave 11 attacks much faster than the PC version and as a result is extremely difficult to beat -Certain enemies that speed up on wave 16 can speed themselves up over and over making it impossible to run away from them -Some items don’t work correctly or at all. The Snake item doesn’t spread burning, Knockback does not seem to be applied properly (or at all), Bandana doesn’t work on weapons with zero pierce to start, and burning damage does not stack or increase with elemental damage properly. All of these bugs make several characters very difficult to the point of being almost unwinnable. Combined with the poor mobile joystick design (please let us adjust the size!), these bugs make the game a much worse experience than the PC version overall..Version: 1.3.9

I’m HookedEmily really impressed with this rouge game. The number of enemies that increase each wave the intensity later on as you take damage and have to avoid them the variety of weapons in items the large number of attributes that you have on your character, the different characters that give different attributes. Well, worth the investment so you don’t have to worry about all the ads to re-roll and earn rewards. Thank you for creating such a great game. I can’t wait to see what you do next..Version: 1.3.71

Game is more funUpdated: The game is now back to being fun again because they updated it so that you can pass wave 20 so it isn’t extremely difficult as before and now when I get bloody hand I can once again get to close to wave 30. I used to be able to reach Wave 30 but now I can’t even pass wave 20. The bloody hand and others are also more rare to get and even when I do get it I still can’t pass wave 20. The game being harder makes me want to play it less and less..Version: 1.3.174

Bro my tato*Brotato* is a fast-paced, top-down roguelike shooter where you play as a potato armed to the teeth. The game blends humor with intense action as you fend off waves of enemies while upgrading your weapons and abilities. Its simple, cartoonish art style contrasts nicely with the chaotic gameplay, keeping things lighthearted but challenging. The variety of weapon combinations and power-ups keeps it fresh, while the controls are responsive and intuitive. The learning curve is steep, but it’s perfect for fans of roguelikes looking for a quick and rewarding action-packed experience..Version: 1.3.62

Best game I’ve ever playedI love this game so much, I literally have no problems with it, especially the fact that you don’t need internet which means, since I travel a lot, it’s the perfect game to play in the car or on a plane. I even play it in the bathroom at school. Only one suggestion, add pets (items category) that help you kill more aliens and some that could collect the xp to help u progress much more quickly, and pets should die after taking to much damage, and their health should be the same as yours. <:.Version: 1.2.44

Lil Potato LoveI love this game, I have over 200hrs on the Steam version. Now that I have a job with some free time but no signal, I had to get it on my phone, as well. Definitely worth paying again, one of the best rougelikes I’ve ever played. The touch screen joystick is definitely something to get used to if you have only used real controllers or keyboard/mouse in the past, but not too bad and they let you move it anywhere on screen. I highly recommend this game!!!.Version: 1.3.159

Great game, mid portThere’s a number of bugs, which many have mentioned. The boss’s attack patterns are 1 second faster, making them near impossible to move out of the way. You can’t u lock the character when you hit below 20 speed. The screen also seems to cap out at a certain number of enemies, making pacifist runs way harder. Once you hit lvl 17-18 on pacifist, get ready for the enemies to move way faster than you and get swarmed to death because you can’t kill the enemies that speed up their allies. These issues don’t exist for the steam game. Hoping this changes for this port..Version: 1.2.37

Amazing game with a slightly annoying issueI love playing Brotato on iOS platforms but the DLC and saves aren’t synchronized on my devices, so I have to purchase a copy of the DLC on all my devices individually and have to play the same content for many times to unlock the same content. I have done everything on the cloud saves manual, and upgraded my iCloud, but it still didn’t work. It’s really annoying, so plz devs, fix the issue over..Version: 1.3.136

Awesome over the yearsAmazing game I absolutely love it. I haven’t bothered to make a review, but I’ve been playing this game for three years. It’s so fun. It never gets boring. I have gotten every single combination that I think I can get. I think I have gotten every achievement well actually maybe not that one, but I have completed most of the game, if y’all could make an extension to this game that a little bit more new and modern I would definitely pay money for it.Version: 1.3.62

Great GameI just got this game yesterday with my friend me and him have played so much and it’s so fun! There’s so much little elements and big elements of the game that makes it great especially the ability to unlock achievements. Another thing I like about the game it’s kind of a strategy game with the characters and having to keep your skills balanced! One thing I would like to see you add is co-op multiplayer, I know it’s a lot to ask but it would be great to see it in the future of this game..Version: 1.2.44

Good and faithful but a quick bug reportThe title says it all. Let’s cut to the chase Here are the bugs I’m reporting The danger 5 reward character can randomly die from health spent in the shop upon leveling up Handcuffs displayed hp cap it sets doesn’t reset properly between runs(Had a run where it said my hp cap would be 89 from a previous run but it showed up when I was at 30 hp. The item caps hp at the value it’s at when it’s taken. Any hp past that point isn’t used in waves.).Version: 1.2.37

Second time I’ve enthusiastically purchased BrotatoI’m just leaving this review to say Brotato is an utterly incredible game that I have purchased on both Xbox and iOS just to be about to play it whenever I want. This game is probably my favorite game that I’ve discovered in the last decade or so and I just feel foolish that I put off playing it for so long just because the visual style is simple. Don’t be like me. Peel that potato ASAP..Version: 1.3.176

New update from Steam userThis is a straightforward port to mobile. It’s more difficult than on PC (you can’t see where your thumb is and obviously touch controls). I haven’t experienced any bugs mentioned in previous posts (could be fixed could be lucky). The butcher/chef either has been fixed or I just been playing op characters (encountered with sick and renegade). Evading the horse elite was tougher. 4 stars because they still ask for reviews every other game in the shops..Version: 1.3.40

Ban system bugI’m playing Brotato on iOS. After purchasing the "Unlock All Content" IAP, the ban item system has completely disappeared and is no longer accessible anywhere in the game. This seems to be a bug. The ban feature used to be available before I unlocked all content, but now the option is gone. Could you please help fix this issue? Thank you very much..Version: 1.3.213

Amazing game, Great time killer.I always had put off Brotato in the past. Either on Xbox, PC, etc. I brushed it off, and for some reason I was in the mood to try it on IOS recently. Its really fun, and the variety as well as how upgrades work keeps things moving and interesting. Its all fun no brakes, perfect for when you have some time whether its 5 minutes or 30 minutes+ this is the answer for that..Version: 1.3.163

AmazingThis game is just perfect, and I’m hooked! I played the free version and this one is SO much better. This is perfect if you want to have a new experience from the survival mode or watching 10 adds to get new characters. Although you can’t use “Spuds” or “Fries” you can unlock characters through fitting challenges. Keep up the great work and hopefully you update both versions soon!.Version: 1.3.183

Love this game! This game is REALLY good. I haven’t been able to find a game similar to it other than pickle Pete, which is not as good in my opinion. All the different characters, and weapons, and ways to play make this game really good! And it’s not too easy either! You have to strategize to make your build the absolute powerhouse it can. Nothing is better than something else and it makes this game amazing!!.Version: 1.3.16

Best Game EverI have played thousands of games and this is the only game that I have purchased on every device that I own. It’s incredibly simple if you just want to run around and destroy enemies, but it’s also very complex if you want to learn each characters attributes as well as what items works best with them. It’s a very unique, cute, and addicting game. You will not be disappointed..Version: 1.3.136

Harder than it seemsAwesome game guys!! I’d like to create my own Brotato. How about this: You make a character and the further on a harder difficulty the more you get with that character, more points you can earn to give them OP stats, buffs or items to start the play with. It would vastly increase the replay rate. Because as of right now I’ve unlocked everything. It was fun while it lasted but I think that idea would make it a lot more fun..Version: 1.3.44

Been very addicting and idk whyLove the game! I only found out about it when it came to gamepass on the Xbox. Been playing for a solid week straight now and it’s all I play for the most part right now. I was tired but I wanted to play Brotato on the Xbox, but I didn’t want to get out of bed. So I was thinking… maybe it’s on the PHONE! To my luck, it popped up! Got the premium version asap! 😂.Version: 1.3.38

Fun, but very problematicIt’s a really fun survival shooter but it’s got some pretty big problems. First, weapon and item selection is utterly broken; it’s seemingly 100% random, which means you can go 10 levels or more without even being offered a weapon upgrade, and when one finally comes up on reroll it’s a tier 1 (and it’s level 18, it’s a crossbow, and you’re playing a Gladiator). It’ll do stuff like offer you the “lumberjack”’perk every level, even after you have it (it doesn’t stack). The little guy who drops a crate? He does it maybe 50% of the time (regardless of your luck stat) but always on desktop. It’s incomplete: there’s a bunch of stuff that didn’t make it in for whatever reason. It’s a lot of fun but devs should prioritize getting as close to 1:1 with the desktop experience to have a true 5-star game..Version: 1.2.44

Bought twice, don’t regret itOriginally bought this on steam during the summer sale, it was cheap so why not? Spent hours as soon as I got around to playing it. Brotato is an easy, experimental rougelite with runs that aren’t hours long, but still hectic and entertaining, complimented with tons of different builds and weapons. If you want to kill time and still have fun, this is THE game.Version: 1.3.10

One of the greatest rouge lites of all timeOne of my favorite rouge lite games of all time. I have bought it on three different platforms now because I enjoy playing it so much. There is endless replay ability due to the vast number of characters who drastically impact how you approach a run and how many different weapons and run defining items you can run into..Version: 1.3.66

An amazing port of the PC game!Hey Devs, This is an amazing port of the PC game! While clearly influenced by Vampire Survivors, I love the game's dual mechanics of experience to level up stats and then materials to purchase new items (be it weapons or gadgets). On top of that, the game has such a clever character/class system. Your character determines your starting equipment, stats, and usually a few unique quirks (both helpful and harmful)..Version: 1.3.50

太好玩了!这是我唯一一个三个客户端都买的游戏.Version: 1.3.183

Not the same as Steam VersionLoved the steam version of this game but this version seems much harder for some reason? Please bring the current Steam features to the game. The difficulty goes from extremely easy pre round 10 but ramps up way more than it should way faster than you can adapt/build. A lot of characters are just not viable to play even in difficulty 0 for this reason. Bought on Steam and bought on iOS. Please fix the game for your loyal supporters..Version: 1.2.44

Great gamePlayed it across platforms it is an amazing game.Version: 1.3.235

Not as polished as the Steam version yetThis version is artificially harder than the Steam version mostly due to bosses. Their attack indicators appear WAY later than in the Steam version, to the point there is <200ms to react and dodge any attack..Version: 1.2.44
