An app gone terribly wrongUPDATE: The 19.1 update seems to have fixed all the problems I noted below. Thank you. The interface now presents information in the same compact and useful way. It is more information dense than is currently fashionable, but that density is essential for the serious user. Moreover, I want to commend the developers for their rapid response to my concerns. First rate. I have no hesitation in revising my rating from 1 to 5 stars. ------------------------------------------------------- I have been using this app for a long time and found it very useful. The latest release makes it totally useless and not worth the money I paid for the upgrade. It is not almost impossible to find the detailed discussion of words and the conjugations of verbs in this version, i am deleting with sorrow. Update. I just re-downloaded the app, there does not appear to be anything the developer mentioned in his response, moreover it will not restore my previous purchase of the pro version, now I am even more dissatisfied. This approach to update an improvement does not seem to work. I wish I could remove the single star I have already given this app. It makes me sad, I have used this app daily for the last year and I have not found an adequate replacement. Mostly good app , but vague at times.It's a good dictionary app. However, some of the words have many translations and are too vague at times. For example, what's the correct term for the word "bright"? "¿Brillante" o luminoso?" Also, sometimes verbs and nouns tend to be missing for certain words. It's also hard to tell which countries use certain words if your trying to speak with a certain accent. I also can't help but feel bummed out knowing that you have to pay for the games and audio. There's even a feature where you can take a picture of a word in Spanish and it will translate it. Yet, you still have to pay, as with almost all the features. Great! Helpful! Helps me in writing Spanish songs!Click English tab type your word and Spanish words show up in relation to it. Example "home" and one of words showing is "casa". Click Spanish tab and type casa and it gives you more definitions, (and vise versa). This also helps me in writing Spanish songs. Totally awesomeAt first I thought it was only going to be a little helpful. But then when I started to use it, it was so cool and so helpful. Nice stand alone dictionary.I just came back from Lima and downloaded this free version while I was down there. I usually use google translate when I have internet access. For the times I did not have internet, this free version helped me find most of the words I was looking for. A Practical and Basic Reference ToolThis Spanish dictionary is convenient on-the-go. I like that it also has a word of the day and some other options. It is not a comprehensive dictionary. I've used it to find a few different words that weren't in the dictionary. One that comes to mind is "inirico", with an accent over the first i. I got this word from Spanish subtitles in a cartoon. I'd like descriptions too because although many synonyms are supplies, I frequently have trouble distinguishing which synonym is the best to use in the context at hand. Poor pronunciationThe dictionary itself is good and more than sufficient. I think the pronunciation leaves a lot to be desired. There's no real distinction between Castillion and Latin American pronunciation. Additionally, the pronunciation is garbled many times and unclear at other times. Inasmuch as you are trying to explain the pronunciation of the word, there was no reason not to exaggerate the sound a little. Re-learning SpanishI use this app while watching Spanish tv at the gym. The flash cards are a great way to remember vocab, and the translator feature picks up where the dictionary lacks. MehIt's hard to complain about a free thing but this dictionary is really slow on my iPhone 4… there are often multi-second pauses between when I type a letter and when it shows up on the screen, presumably because it's trying to auto-complete after each letter (mistake). Also, the Spanish/English button at the right of the search field doesn't really make it clear if you're supposed to be entering the word IN English (for example) or you want it translated TO English. And pressing/switching the button is another multi-second affair. I am studying Spanish and it already takes me a while to get my phone out, unlock it, and run this app when I want to look up a word. One Big MinusI enjoy this program, and always avail myself of the "word a day" option. The problem is that only the first Spanish synonym given, out of the five or more offered, is pronounced.
