Started Reading AgainA huge thank you to my local Idaho library for coming to the Pride event I was working at. My issue with loans is that my ADHD makes it difficult for me to return books on time. Also, I’m usually too exhausted during my time off to read anymore, so even if I do have a book in front of me I inevitably fall asleep. The library staff I met with told me I could get ebooks and audiobooks instead, since they are timed to automatically return themselves without me having to drive anywhere. I signed up for Libby that night and it’s made a huge difference! I had never tried audiobooks before, because I’m picky about the narration and couldn’t afford to pay for one only to dislike the voice. Now if I dislike the narration, it’s so easy to find the ebook version instead and pick a different audiobook from my reading list. Audiobooks have especially changed the game for me because I often live in remote areas with lots of driving—it’s nice that I can get my reading in when I would otherwise be bored on a 1- to 10-hour drive through the desert. I also love that I can read an ebook on my phone during my lunch break instead of carrying extra books or a kindle to and from work. Plus, I can put multiple library cards from different cities on my account so I can usually find what I’m looking for. I just can’t praise Libby enough and I recommend it to anyone who will listen. I’m so glad to be reading regularly again and that this app makes libraries so accessible..Version: 7.0.0

Great App, Great ServiceLibby is an essential app for book lovers, particularly during this time when many libraries are closed to visitors. I have been using the app for several years and always been happy with it. Recently, updates to the app have made it even better—particularly the option to have a hold delivered later (useful when multiple holds come available at the same time). The app is easy to use for reading and listening on the go, but I also love the ease of sending ebooks to my Kindle when I want a larger screen. (One downside is not being able to send audiobooks to Audible, which would enable whispersync between ebook and audiobook for readers who are doing both, but I suspect that’s an issue with Amazon’s audiobook model rather than the library.) I like being able to track how long I will need to wait for a book (Libby often overestimates the wait time, which I appreciate because then I’m pleasantly surprised when the book becomes available early). I appreciate being able to link multiple library cards in one app and switch between them easily. When it comes to potential negatives for some readers (such as long wait times for popular books), it’s important to remember that those issues are just part of being a library reader rather than buying all your books—not an issue with the app itself. Go ahead and place the hold; high demand for a book often encourages public libraries to purchase additional copies (or digital licenses) for the book..Version: 4.0.0

The perfect app for both the Book Lovers AND those who don’t like to readThis app has been incredible and I’m really grateful that someone had recommended it to me. I absolutely love to read and I can typically devour at least 60 books a year in the genres that I like. However, I sometimes struggle to pick up books that are self help and/or nonfiction. I find that it’s much easier for me to listen to those genres as audiobooks. That way, I can still digest the information but don’t have to worry about reading the same sentence a few times. So I like to color or paint while listening to them, but it’s also great for those long car rides, while doing dishes or other chores, and while doing self care practices like my skin care routine & showering. This app has such a large array of genres, and has plenty of regular books, audiobooks and magazines alike. Whether you are looking for reading materials of general topics OR a specific title, the app makes it easy to locate with the search bar. If they don’t have a specific book that you are looking for, then you have the ability to use the ‘smart tag’, and the app will let you know if/when the library ends up receiving it, while also giving you similar titles to choose from in the meantime. Let’s say you end up placing a bunch of holds and too many come in at once, then you can ask to have some of them delivered at a later time. I hope that you enjoy this app as much as I do! Happy Reading, m’friends!.Version: 8.1.2

Needs improvement, but has potential to be greatDifficult to manage. It seems like I wait forever for my turn to come up & when it does everything seems to become available at once. They claim that when this happens & you have too much to read at once that you can let someone ahead of you in line without losing your space. I’ve tried this a couple times & it hasn’t worked. Instead they took away my hold completely! Then I have to start back at the beginning of the line! There’s no help number that you can call. I e-mailed in a couple of technical questions in the past but got an answer back that wasn’t helpful & seemed more like a form letter. Libby could potentially be a great app if they could improve the technical issues, plus not have such a huge wait times for books. It would also be helpful that if I need more time to read my book that I was allowed to renew it just like they do at a brick & mortar library. Whenever I have tried this, Libby puts me back at the beginning of the line which often times can be a 3 month wait. By the time you wait 3 mnths you forget names of characters, where you were etc. & have to reread the book anyway. The exception to this rule is that if there’s not a wait list, which rarely happens to me, Libby will then allow you to renew your book.🧐 Today, I tried opening a new book &I think just stays stuck on the first page like it’s trying to open it but can’t. I shut this device thinking maybe it was my computer, but it’d doing this on all 3of my devices. So disappointing😣.Version: 1.8.1

Benjamin Franklin would be so proud! Those that might not know, Benjamin Franklin and friends found the Library Company of Philadelphia, which was the first lending library in America. Therefore, I can say, and genuinely believe, that he would have been very proud of this development if he could possibly have foreseen it. To be able, when dis-abled, to have a full library at my disposal, has been soul-saving. Libraries have been part of my life, all of my life. So, to be without (new) books, without the choice of books, without access easily to books is painful. Now on my pension, buying books and magazines are a luxury. Being visually impaired, having access to audiobooks is another life-changing aspect. I have tried various approaches to being part of a library system, but it was just this year that I was introduced to Libby through my local library. I can not fully express my respect and appreciation for the development of a software program that makes books and magazines in various formats available to the entire community without the need to physically attend the library itself.* To make choices, to sample (read or listen), to either borrow or be on a wait list, to open the book within the downloaded software, is deeply satisfying. I’m wallowing in the luxury. *I do miss all the other wonderful aspects and services of a physical library. Ask your librarian all about it. Download the app, its all free. You won’t be sorry. Thank you to the developers..Version: 7.1.4

Libby makes me love my local library even moreUpdate: I love the new features that Libby continues to get, my favorite recent addition is the ability to check the availability of a title at my other libraries if the title has a wait list at my currently selected library. This doesn’t help me when a title isn’t available at all from one library, I still have to switch cards to check the others, but it’s a huge improvement. The UI changes that happened sometime in the last year or so are okay, I think it requires a few more taps to get to some places I want, but I’ve learned my way around it. I would like it if my reading history was shown fully so I didn’t have to tap each title to get the borrow and return dates (or even just have a toggle option to expand all). Overall, I still love the app and rarely have problems or bugs (and when I do it’s usually my internet and not the app). This is such a great app, I always find something to listen to (I use it almost exclusively for audiobooks). It's wonderful to not have to deal with bulky physical audiobooks and constantly having to switch out CDs. The selection is quite good, I can't always find the particular book I'm looking for, but there's always something on my to-read list available. I like that you can log in with different libraries, which expands the catalogue even more. The controls are easy to use, although there are features that you won't know are there until you try tapping different things. I recommend this app to everyone who wants more reading options!.Version: 5.1.0

In Love With This AppI’ve been in a spiral about everything happening in the world and drowning in the constant barrage of it all. Social media and thinking about the future used to be fun pass-times and now it feels like a painful but necessary part of survival. Bleak and disingenuous. Libby and the books in my library have been my one and only candle in the darkness. Not only some reprieve from the podcasts and news, but some stories of hope. I am realizing that awareness is fruitless without hope. Awareness is unadulterated misery without ideas or some semblance of self efficacy. I thought these stories would just be a source of occasional ignorance. Running away. But I’m finding myself hearing the voices of the long dead and the unabashedly confident living, say to me that it is in the regular people that inspire change. I am starting to wonder if hope is the last missing puzzle piece to get us out into not just the streets but the meeting rooms and the communal spaces to re-learn how to love each-other and plot together for a better world. It’s a constant fight. Always and forever. But these books seem to state again and again that it is always a fight worth having. No one makes it out of this world alive, but hopefully we can make it out with our souls, if there is one to have. Hopefully with rekindled community we can find that courage again to stay true to moral clarity when it finds us. I know deep down that is what so many of us are aching for..Version: 9.0.1

From Overdrive to LibbyBeen an Overdrive user for years & really fell in love with it. When the library announced that it was fazing it out &replacing it with Libby, I felt betrayed. Change is hard to swallow, but after using Libby for just a short time, I’m in love again. I’m still learning how to use Libby, but I like the new interface. There are more bells, whistles & features available. My spouse gave me an iPad today for my 77 birthday. I had been reading the books from my favorite authors that weren’t available as audiobooks on my iPhone and though I’m getting closer to cataract surgery, her gift was very timely. The notifications features alone make it so much more convenient to manage the books on hold, those approaching return deadlines, on hold now available to read, etc… Todays technology is mind blowing. One of the reasons I read so much is, I really like an interesting story, especially one that doesn’t constantly interrupt me with damned commercial breaks. I’m still paying outrageous monthly cable bills, primarily because my spouse loves the junky cereals like “Blue Bloods, NCIS, etc… “. I just mute the tv during commercials to get thru the morning & evening news Chanel’s. I really can’t wait to learn how to better use the new features in Libby. If the advertisers finally get their claws into Libby & they eventually will, I’ll look for another refuge from their relentless greed. Hope this long review will encourage other Overdrive users too take the Libby plunge..Version: 5.2.0

Best book app I hadThis is the best book I’ve ever had. It’s very lovely it has so Mann features I love. I love that it shows how much longer it will take you to finish the book. I also love that you are able to tag books so you can find them aging. This makes all of the books you like accessible. This app also has a bunch of books to choose from for example most of the time I’m searching for a book I find it. This is amazing the thing I love the most is that you can see your progress in percentage on the books you’re reading it also allows you to see all of your progress on the timeline. Some things I think should be added are ratings on different books so I could know by someone who read the book if it is really good and what I’m looking for. Additionally adding age ranges for books to know what is appropriate for your age ranges. Another thing is I would like to be able to upload photos to this app to read on my phone. This is because sometimes you don’t have the book with you and you still want to read it. The last thing I think should be added is how long it took you to read the book after it was finished and to log this in the time line. This would help you know how long you read in that month, day, or the book in total. This is my review and my recommendations for the future thank you so much for creating this app it very helpful and I really appreciate it.🩷❤️😆👍😍😘🤓🤩📚.Version: 8.2.0

So grateful for this library app🙌Edit: I did take a star off after using this for a year and that is due to the downloads having issues. I download the books/audio so that I can read/listen when in airplane mode etc. On occasion, even though the app tells me that book/audio has been 100% downloaded there will be an issue a ways in to the book which it freezes and post a message saying “not downloaded completely”. I then have to return what I checked out and “borrow” again. Most times this fixes the issue but not always. There has been an occasion where I have to return the book and wait a few days to check it out again for it to 100% download with zero issues. This as a whole isn’t a bad thing, it does get a wee bit annoying though if after I’ve waited for 5 weeks for a book and after needing to return it do to downloading issues that I end up having to wait additional 5-6 weeks to check it out again. That all being said I still absolutely love and recommend this app, but be aware that you might have this issue. It gives you a chance to practice the virtue of patience 😅. First post: I’ve been able to read and listen to a variety of books ranging from fiction to financial investments from anywhere in the world for free. I’ve been using this app since Summer 2020 and figured now is a good time to finally write up a review seeing as I was literally downloading reading/listening material just now. I highly recommend this library app for the amazing amount of material that is available and for the ability to edify ones mind for zero dollars at any given place or time of day… a win-win 🙌..Version: 9.0.1

Super amazing app helps with everythingLibby is a fantastic app that transforms the way readers access books, blending convenience with a love for literature. With just a library card, users can borrow ebooks and audiobooks for free, making it incredibly accessible and cost-effective. The interface is clean, intuitive, and designed with the reader in mind—whether you’re a casual browser or someone who devours a new book each week, Libby adapts to your reading habits without the clutter or confusion of more commercial platforms. What really sets Libby apart is its versatility. It seamlessly syncs across devices, so you can start reading on your phone and pick up where you left off on your tablet or Kindle. It also caters to different reading preferences: dark mode for night reading, adjustable font sizes and styles for comfort, and audiobook speed controls for personalized listening. Whether you’re commuting, working out, or winding down before bed, Libby makes it easy to fit books into your life. Beyond individual features, Libby’s integration with public libraries reinforces its value as a community-driven resource. It helps promote literacy, discovery, and equal access to learning tools regardless of income. From bestsellers and classics to niche genres and kids’ books, the app offers a wide range without the pressure to buy or subscribe. Libby isn’t just a reading app—it’s a digital bridge connecting people to knowledge, entertainment, and imagination..Version: 8.1.2

My favorite appI love reading on my phone but didn’t read as much as I wanted because the cost of purchasing digital books. This app is amazing and I’m so thankful to the friend that told me about it. I’ve increased my reading tenfold, the convenience is unmatched and I get to listen to audiobooks during my commute also, all for free. With really popular books I’ve had to wait in line sometimes a few months, and this is difficult at times for instance when I’m trying to read a series. I’ve had book 3 come available for me before book 2 for instance. But there are ways to manage that (let the next person in line read it while you wait). It’s not perfect but it’s close enough especially for free! My only critique is that when you sign up for a free digital library card through them, it expires after a year. I didn’t know this and when my year was up I lost all of my many holds. I had to go into my local library branch, get a physical card, upload that card info to the app, and they couldn’t or wouldn’t transfer all of my holds so I had to get back in the end of line for multiple books I was waiting for months already for. Now that that’s fixed, I have no other problems with the app, just a cautionary heads up for others. You can also check out magazines in this app and you can read straight from the app or from your kindle device. Well worth the 5 stars and more!.Version: 7.0.1

A LifesaverI’ve always loved audiobooks but I’m dealing with some health issues right now and stuck at home a lot. I’m having issues with my eyes so can’t read very well for pleasure. Thankfully I heard about Libby from someone and was able to sign up with my library card. So I was able to enjoy my love for audiobooks and feel connected to the world again and pass the time more enjoyably. So to me Libby has literally been a lifesaver. Prior to discovering Libby I did try out Audible for awhile but I simply could not afford it with my health issues. Besides, everything was expensive on Audible and the books that were included with my general plan weren’t all that impressive. With Libby it’s definitely a step up in terms of what is available especially given that it’s free. The only way it’s lacking in terms of availability is that it doesn’t have many newer audiobooks right away. And if they do have newer audiobooks it can be a long wait for them. I have waited months for some audiobooks to become available. However given that it’s free it’s still very much worth it and I ALWAYS find something to listen to while I wait for other titles. As for all of the other options on Libby I’m pleased with everything else. I like the option where you can have it shut off after a chapter. I like that if you don’t quite finish an audiobook in time and you end up borrowing it again later the system saves where you left off last. It just has lots of great features! There is literally no reason not to use it. Enjoy!.Version: 6.3.0

Great way to get back into booksIf your library has books available this app is a no-brainer. The search filters make finding books of interest easy, and the user tags are great for building wishlists and tracking progress through a series. I initially found it difficult wrapping my head around the fact it is a library and not a storefront. I didn’t like waiting for books to be available, but I eventually figured out how to balance placing holds on books I knew I was going to want to read with using the excellent filters to peruse titles that were available now. It’s been exciting to get back into books with this app! Things to improve: I have had the audiobook player crash out sometimes, especially in CarPlay or when switching back and forth from other audio apps. The e-reader needs to have more robust customization options. I want full control over margins, font, and line spacing of text. Want to be able to completely remove page turning animations (even the slide). It would be nice to be able to use the volume buttons to page turn when in the reader. Have also had some kids picture books where they seemed setup for horizontal screens and was tiny and illegible in vertical orientation, but I was unable to rotate the app interface or the book. It also asks you to login to your library and input your library card at least once a month, which feels like a lot considering how low stakes library membership typically is..Version: 8.2.0

Simple, Easy, AwesomeThis app is a literal treasure for anyone who enjoys audiobooks. I find Amazon’s pricing model to be out of whack and their stranglehold on the audiobook industry to be downright oppressive. I discovered this app and after a little legwork all done online to get a membership card for my local library, I was listening to audiobooks from my backlog in no time. The selection isn't quite as extensive as Audible for obvious reasons, but the vast majority of titles are available. The only other caveat is that sometimes books (available in both kindle or audio format) are in use by another user and you will need to put your name on a reservation list. Depending on how many people are ahead of you in the cue, it could be anywhere from 14-21 days before you can take it out for personal use. I have absolutely no problem with this however. I just move on to the next title I’m interested in. It’s actually kind of fun when you get a notification a couple days or weeks later that your book is available. The process reminds me very much of the good old days of actually going to the library. I honestly can’t recommend this app enough. In a world where companies are constantly trying to nickel and dime you through every step of the process, it’s nice to know that books and the endless knowledge and entertainment they provide, are still available for free for anyone who is seeking them out..Version: 5.1.0

BEST APP FOR READERSI personally love Libby because it makes it easier and fun to read and for me and some people books hurt my eyes to read because the bright color of the background and the tiny words but Libby can change the text size in any of its books and change the background colors it doesn’t hurt your eyes to read. Plus Lily has a great wide selection of books and it’s and audiobooks and it’s really fun to read on and it’s great for people who love to read but don’t own really good books. And I probably love Libby the most because of its bookmark feature the bookmark feature can save your spot in any book or if you like have an important spot that you wanna remember to go back to your book market and I’ll save all your bookmarks unless you delete the bookmark then you can also highlight important words that will also save and you can and if you If you don’t want to highlight it or a book like it then and like you’ve already read it and you don’t wanna highlight a booklet or if a friend told you about that’s fine but you haven’t gotten to it yet there’s a search for that Libby has like that you can search in the book and you could search any words or sentences and it will show you all of the sentences with that word in it and if you want your kids to spend less time on the iPad and more time reading books a good app for you so. take my advice and down a Libby thanks.Version: 5.1.0

Good But a few suggestionsI have been using Libby for a while know and I LOVE it. It’s so great for when you’re on Vacations especially because you don’t have to worry about that extra space your books are taking up and losing your books miles away from home 🤓. One thing that is a little frustrating is when they don’t have the audiobook for the book you want to read. Sometimes you want to do housework or workout etc. while listening to your book. Surprisingly though I have only come across this problem twice which is pretty good considering I’m an avid reader and Libby is my most used app. I’ve also never come across the problem of Libby not having the book that I want which surprised me. THE MAIN SUGGESTION I WANTED TO MAKE is that it would be fun to have sort of like reading challenges. And like the prizes could be like a skip the line or skip five people (when waiting in line for a book). Something like that. Or it could be a new background you know? Little things like that. It would also be amazing if you could make a list of the books you have read and set a book goal at the beginning of a year and a month. Honestly I love Libby but it's very straight forward and if you're looking for something like that it would be great, but it would be great if the Developers could Implement these little things into the app. :) DEVELOPER PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR OPINION <3..Version: 6.1.0

PerfectI’ve listened to podcasts for years but have recently had difficulty finding the quality of content I used to be able to easily find. So grateful I found this app when I did, as there is no end to the amount of quality (audio) books in a library. Thank you so much! UPDATE 9/5/22 I still love & cannot live without it, but PLEASE fix whatever has happened (I assume on last update?) with the tags. It used to be so easy to add/create/manage tags, and now it’s just awful. I can’t for the life of me figure out why you’d change it. I am not stupid, but pretty much have to go to the help section to get instructions to remind me now how to do it. In addition, I had a list of probably 20-30 books tagged as “want to read,” that just disappeared. I’ve tried to recreate this tag/list now 4 times, and every time my phone turns off, it logs me out of the app and in turn, erases my created tags/list. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!! I do not want to hog books & be forced to check them out and then sit on them while I finish others just b/c I cannot depend on my saving of it to a “want to read” list. ALSO, if it’s going to log me out every time my phone shuts off, then PLEASE make it where you can scan your library card to login rather than having to drag the card out, and type in all the numbers. Other than those glitches, I truly love the app. 8/5/22- PLEASE bring back ratings on books!.Version: 5.1.0

Continued problems with this appI have had the Libby app for over 7 years now and it worked beautifully up until 5 months ago when I was summarily “kicked” off the app in the middle of listening to an audiobook. It took me 2 weeks to log back in since Libby kept insisting that my library card of over 20 years was invalid and that I needed to apply for a library card in order to log back into the app. During this time being kicked off the app my entire history of books borrowed, tagged and on hold was deleted. I emailed the tech support for Libby asking to rectify this situation and to reinstate my history once I was able to log back in using the very card that was deemed invalid and have heard nothing back from them. Yet again today in the middle of listening to my audiobook I was summarily logged out and am being asked to go through the same ridiculous process of entering a “valid” library card. I am quite frustrated with these recent events and wish to know if there was some update done to this app that has it functioning at less than optimal. I have also had to wait an eternity while the app buffers whenever I have tried to go back a few chapters while listening to my audiobooks. I am extremely disappointed with the new turn of events with this app as it has always been my go to for audiobooks while driving long distances..Version: 5.0.5

Would be 5 stars if I could like or dislike the titles listened to!I can honestly admit I never liked reading books or magazines comics and especially instruction manuals ( i.e. assembly manuals lol)! One of the most incredible incentives we have been blessed with is growing up and learning! Some times I have to make myself be still and read, while other times I might have to make myself stop lol, mind you, I’m 46 years old now. Then I discovered the most amazing thing while I was taking my daughter to the library to get a book for caring for her puppy. No one was ever able to accuse me of being an animal lover either so I wanted to make sure she understood what having a puppy would involve. I had to get my very first library card in my early thirties. After we returned her books, I still had no interest whatsoever in reading anything other than what I Had to. Then about three years ago I discovered this amazing thing called AUDIOBOOKS while I was searching for resources to learn the Russian language and my life has been forever enriched with joy and excitement for the next favorite book. So incredible that our public libraries offer these books for free and yes I also wish to share these same thoughts and feelings with the developers of Libby! I would aggressively squash that fifth star if they would only insert the option to thumbs up or Down for the reader to provide some feedback on their thoughts on their experiences with the books..Version: 9.2.1

Transforming my life one audiobook at a timeAs a full-time grade school teacher with ADHD, taking the time to enjoy a book can be challenging. This year, in an effort to both enjoy more books and use my library card more/better, I downloaded Libby. I’ve completed ten books so far this year, and nine have been audiobooks! It has been such a delight to discover how much better I consume information when I can listen to it. One of my favorite features is my library’s regular posting of monthly book lists and occasional special lists on a specific topic or theme. When all the copies of those recommended books get snatched up, placing a hold (or multiple) is super simple and intuitive. Libby will even tell you your spot in line, how many people are waiting per copy of the resource, and an estimated time to expect to be able to borrow. All these metrics has made it easy for me to get into a flow of placing holds in ways that keep my shelf stocked, but never overly full. If things are looking thin and I need a new book now, it’s no sweat: the “available now” search filter combined with all the genre tags makes finding something right away super easy. I recommend Libby to anyone who will listen, and I fixed my thumbs to type up this whole review because Libby and my local library have me that pumped up. Get Libby! Do it! Start enjoying lots and lots of great books for free!.Version: 6.5.0

Highly Recommend Libby to EVERYBODY!!I absolutely love Libby! This app is a fantastic source of knowledge, and all the literature I could possibly dream of. I’m grateful for finding it. With my library card, I easily gain access to the plentiful selection of books in my local library! This is wonderful in moments, especially those we’re in now, facing corona virus, but also if you cannot get to a library for any reason other than that there after. The simple curtesy of lending goes far too unnoticed these days and this was such a creative idea to bring our library’s into our homes! I highly recommend this app to all who loves to read, and for those who intend to put the book back on the shelf when finished. I love that there are audiobook’s as well! This is highly appealing and makes it easier to get through books quickly but also for those with children AND for children— Essentially those that are too busy to read. I am able to play the audio and the book is read aloud to me making me able to do my work, housework, and even shower while listening! Thank you to the developers of Libby and the team who made this possible!! I am so happy that this app was made in an easy to use format and accessible to everyone!! From the simple appealing layout to the easy accessibility and attention put into detail, this app was clearly well thought out and I could tell!.Version: 5.0.5

Books and BooksThank you for this lovely app and thank you to my local library for supporting it. Things I like about the app: I get books and more books. It is easy to access. If I have a book on hold I get notifications on my phone that they’re ready for my enjoyment. It’s easy to turn off and on. I like being able to read on the Kindle app on my iPad. Basically, it’s a useful app. I do have a few issues though. I used to use Overdrive and miss some of the features such as being able to EASILY find my reading history and for the life of me I can’t seem to get a handle on how to create and view a wish list. I don’t think there is a wish list of any kind but if it’s named something else I wish someone would tell me. I also think the search function is a little complicated. It limits showing choices if all of one’s preferences aren’t set correctly which is tedious to have to change those if I’ve been using audiobooks and want to look for ebooks. It took me a while to figure out that indeed certain books were available when I kept getting no results. The search function should be universal—we should be able to put in a title and or an author and see all formats without repeating the search. If there’s a way to do this I haven’t figured it out. Lastly, I’ve had problems with losing my place when listening to an audiobook. I’ve yet to figure out why or how it happens. I think I inadvertently do something that causes it to skip forward or backwards. I’ve had to try to remember to mark a bookmark every time I pause and sometimes even in the middle of listening otherwise I find myself repeating or searching and searching for my place..Version: 5.1.0

Libby is great, but there are some reasons that I would consider another service.Libby is definitely one of the only places to get ebooks and audiobooks that I trust. There were a couple of things that bothered me. One was that I couldn’t get a lot of books that I wanted to read because Libby didn’t have them. Another was that the holds that I places often had extremely longs wait time. Some of them were even several months wait. Lots of them only had one copy, and with that and the number of people who use this website created some major problems with the books’ availability. That certainly bothered me a lot more than the other services that I have used in the past. Those are the only problems that I noticed with the service. Some things that I did enjoy about Libby are the voices in the audiobooks and the categorization opportunity. I know that, sometimes, the person who reads the audiobook can have a slightly annoying voice, or there are noticeable problems with the audiobook. I find it annoying, for example, when it is obvious when the reader paused the recording to take a break, and it makes it sound strange, but both Libby’s audiobooks and its readers are lovely. Another thing that I loved about Libby was the tags that can be used for categorization. I used these for things like keeping track of what I want to read. I highly encourage, if you do start using Libby, to keep a wishlist. Overall, Libby is great, and I hope that you enjoy using it!.Version: 7.1.3

Use this dailyWhen Libby was first introduced, the Overdrive app was far superior. Now, Libby has all the features it was missing. In particular , I’m happy to see books listed as #1 in series, etc. and being able to click on the series to see them all. I listen to hundreds of books each year on Libby. Unfortunately, my history did not transfer from Overdrive but it’s not a big deal. One thing I’d like to see introduced is a way to rate the books I’ve listened to just for myself. I often start a book and for one reason or another, I don’t like it. Later, when looking for another book, I often refer back to one’s I’ve already read for ideas on authors. If I could somehow mark that author with a “don’t bother” or “read everything from this author”, it would be very helpful. It’s wasteful, in my opinion, to check a book out, listen for ten minutes and reject it because libraries end up “paying” for each checkout of each book. I appreciate all of the free books and feel terrible when I reject one. I’d also like to see a way to mark narrators in the same way. Some of the synthesized voices are just horrible and I’ve returned books after just a minute or two because I can’t stand their “voice”. It would be nice to have something pop up when I’m considering a new book that says “narrator is awful” or “favorite narrator”..Version: 6.4.4

Reading with my ears, guilt free!I used to believe audiobooks were only for long car trips but I use it daily now that my sight is beginning to fail some. I used to believe audio books were a waste of time, no holding the book and no ability to pass it to another person. I tried Kindle but it became frustrating for me, not a comment on Kindle. I finally quelled my guilt at “cheating” by reading with my ears and went to my local library to ask about audiobook check out. I joined the library and loaded Libby, recommended by the librarian for my needs. I fell in love with how easy Libby was to use... to find my genre of books. But then I also fell in love with certain narrators and have expanded my reading by searching “narrators” on Libby. I have greatly expanded the narrow genre I preferred to many genres. Without Libby, there is so much I would have missed. I am close to 70 and not tech savvy. Even I could figure out how to use without a grandchild helping. I don’t like that If I don’t have more than one book loaded, I occasionally am asked to enter my password to continue using Libby. This might be the library requirement, not sure. I can’t recall passwords. I just leave the program for that day then I can download again. By using Bluetooth headphones, my hands are free to work on my hobbies, do dishes, work in the yard or sit in the house and not disturb my husband. Although I have to read some series out of order, due to many have wait lists for early or mid books in series up to 13 books, I simply put the earlier books on hold, then consider it a prequel. I am a true Libby fan!.Version: 3.0.1

Do you love to read?If you love to read with either by an ebook or listen like audible, Libby is the place to go. Linked to libraries across the states allows you to read or listen to books with no charge. You can put yourself on a waiting list and immediately know how many books your library has to loan, what number you are as it changes as people return the book or take themselves off of the waiting list. You can pause your hold so others can jump over you without needing to go all the way back to the end of the line. Allowing you to be kind to other readers by allowing them to pass you without needing to hog a bunch of books because if you don’t hog them all you will need to wait forever to make it to the top again. It also shows you how many other people are in line for the book so, if you are kind, you can read choose to read the book that has the longest waiting list by returning a book early while at the same time renew a book on your shelf with no waiting list. How can I praise the Libby app without finding negatives? I don’t know. Libby has been a godsend for all people (like me) who don’t have the money to buy a book or subscribe to audible. It’s pretty much perfect. (More titles are a way to be better but it’s a money issue for your individual library much like your local library. If your city has enormously high funding by the city, county or state you will have tons of books. But, if you are from an area of the states where your brick and mortar library is small and funding low, you will find the same thing true of Libby as it’s your local library who must purchase the e-books and audible books and thus are limited by funding..Version: 6.4.4

Great—until it isn’tI have been a faithful user of OverDrive for years and years, and I transferred that joy and faithfulness to Libby several years ago. After all, how much better can it get than bringing my library’s electronic books and audiobooks to me? All in one place? I love the ease of use and the way it can store several library cards at once. I was hoping they would add a feature to allow for searching across multiple libraries at once, but in the meantime I found good workarounds. I kept all my lists and tags there and had quite a history built up, with records of what I have read and an extensive wish list: loved it! Then a few weeks ago, for no reason, Libby kicked me off and deleted all my library cards (and years and years of tags and reading history records with it). I had to re-add all my library cards from scratch. I reached out to customer support and they said that this is a known problem and the only solutions are to either have the app and all records across multiple devices (so I have to buy a new device just for that?) or to export my tag list. This is a KNOWN problem with no solution. And all my history and records are gone, and I don’t know that they can be rebuilt. Bottom line: I still love the app design and usability and it is as great as ever…until it’s not and you lose everything..Version: 5.1.0

Convert from OverDriveFinally I have switched from OverDrive to Libby. I loved the simplicity of OverDrive but eventually Libby’s overall better usability won me over. Libby is a must-have app for any avid reader/audiobook listener. I loved the recent addition of the feature of delivering later, very convenient for those of us who place holds on multiple books since it is difficult to predict when a book will indeed be available. This likely will shorten the overall wait for everyone in the waiting list. I also very much appreciate the ability to view a history of my search terms and it seems to search across all my libraries (significantly improved over OverDrive), although Libby does not clearly indicate whether it does search across libraries. This could perhaps be improved. I would have given a 4.5 rating but there is option for half points. A few improvements are desired. For one, it is never clear to me which direction my finger should slide to forward/rewind, and I often do the opposite, hence taking more time due to the confusion. It would be much better to have clearly indicated rewind/forward direction, e.g., those 15 sec rewind/forward buttons in OverDrive. Another suggestion is to make it easier to access the book details for books on my shelf. Right now ”view title details” is buried several menu clicks deep. I still use OverDrive to recommend books that my libraries don’t have — would be great to be able to do this in Libby..Version: 3.0.5

Checkout time should be adjusted to length of bookThis is a great app but I have two large complaints. The audiobooks can be highly frustrating due to every title being a 2 week checkout no matter how short or long the title is. Because libraries have less copies of audiobooks the wait time to get an audiobook can be lengthy. For instance I have lonesome dove checked out right now, it’s a 37 hour long book that I had to wait nine weeks to get. If someone else is waiting you cannot renew your lease even for 1 day. Right now I have 5 hours left and won’t be able to finish before it checks back in. I’m going to have to wait another approximately 9 weeks to finish the end. Books really need to be leased out for a length of time that reflects how long the book is. 2 weeks is way to short for the average person to finish an almost 40 hour book. Meanwhile I have books that are 6 hours long I get for the same 2 weeks. Which brings us to my second complaint. When you finish a book it does not automatically get checked back in nor does a reminder pop up to remind you to check it back in. So people end up waiting longer to get audiobooks than they should have to because people forget to turn books back in. When a book finishes it should automatically check back in or at least put a pop up window letting people know others are waiting and if they are done to go ahead and return it. Other than these two things the app is great. I have been able to listen to 20+ books in the past 3 months while working..Version: 3.0.0

Any book . . .The way I use audiobooks is to acquire the book (via library or purchase) and then go to Libby or OverDrive and “borrow” the exact audiobook. Then, I read along in the book while listening to the audiobook. Advantage: I remain focused longer. Words or phrases in a foreign language are pronounced correctly and usually with appropriate accent. And most important, I move right along and finish the book much quicker than otherwise. This allows me to “read” many more books. Another advantage, if the book is read by the author, that’s an “extra.” You feel like you are sitting in their private library, next to their fireplace and having a private audience. It’s very personal. To me, this way of combining both the text and the audiobook book, I get the best of both worlds. When I listen to just the audiobook alone, I find myself drifting and losing my concentration. With the book in front of me and reading along, I remain enthusiastically involved. Say I want to hear or read a sentence or paragraph again - just hit the 15 second repeat button - Voila! Two examples: “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” series. EXCELLENT! All those Swedish addresses and names of places. Second example, any book with necessary minutia such as Ron Chernow’s, “Hamilton.” Both of these books are wonderful on audiobooks. Worked for me! Try it! You might like it . . ..Version: 6.1.0

Libby is wonderfulLibby is great for young people who are always on the move and don’t have time to sit down and read, as well as old people who want something to listen to while the do what they like to do. I myself love to read but I also enjoy art so while I’m painting or drawing I can listen to my book and block the world out and image the world the book is set in and it also might inspire one of my art pieces. Libby over all in a wonderful app and extremely easy to use the only hard part is signing in with a valid card number and password. You can contact the app providers or your local library if there’s issues and that another great thing about Libby because if they don’t have a book you can request the book on your own through your library and they will put it on their app with the next mass book purchase. The only problem is you really have to book mark your place for ebooks or the app struggles to keep your place and I have no experienced any problem with it not save my progress on audiobooks. Libby is wonderful, amazing, and it has truly helped me get away from the world in times I feel overwhelmed and upset. The books it provides are perfect and it separate it all into categories for you of adult, young adult, and child, then also into genres of romance, horror, comedy, to informational..Version: 9.0.1

Love!I think it's so cool how you can use this with your library card. This is my go to reading app! I just wish it was available for NOOK tablets. Kind of an old device, but it's sort of a drag to read a book on overdrive and it not be synced up with my libby app therefore it wasn't tracking my reading time. Other than that, love it. Some people are complaining on here that they have to wait 5 months for a book or so... can't you find a book that isn't super popular right now and put a hold on what you want? That's how you discover really good books. Patience and curiosity. I find it super annoying/entitled that people are saying this because eventually it will be your turn, just have patience and read something else. If you want it that bad, buy it 🙄. It's not libby's fault and I think it's also unfair to assume someone isn't reading a book because they're taking their time with it. There are plenty of books out there chill out. I however do think there should be a system though where it detects if a book has been opened frequently or not so then people who do need a book for school or something can get it because its much more needed by them obviously. The reason this is my favorite reading app is because of the synchronization aspect and that it can track your reading time. You can disable that, but personally, its why I love Libby the most. 💜.Version: 4.1.0

Perfection in app formAs a lifelong reader, I consider Libby such a gift! Like most older book lovers, nothing pleases me more than a printed hardcover book in my hands. But life involves a lot more than kicking back in a comfy chair with a cozy throw, a cup of tea, and a book. Shocking, right? How can you read while doing a couple loads of laundry? Bring your phone to the laundry room and let Michael Beck read Grisham to you. How do you engage your mind while weeding the flower beds on a humid summer afternoon? Let Karin Slaughter give you chills in the voice of Kathleen Early. How can you reduce the stress of rush hour on the way home from work? Let Ralph Cosham read you the early stories of Three Pines as written by Louise Penny. How do you avoid injury from dropping a heavy book onto your face if you fall asleep while reading in bed (not to mention losing your place)? Borrow an ebook to read on your lightweight tablet and simply lay it aside when dozing off. How can you reduce eye strain from a bright reading light at night or a bright screen? Use dark mode (wonderful option!). And how do you pack enough books for vacation without overloading your luggage? Hah! A single tablet loaded with allllllll you can read or listen to, no matter how long your trip. All free, thanks to your public library. And all super easy, thanks to Libby! Don’t knock audiobooks and ebooks until you’ve given them an opportunity to fill your days and nights with entertainment and knowledge even as you accomplish those pesky tasks and places that won’t allow you to read all the books you really want to read. You’re gonna love Libby!.Version: 8.0.2

Fantastic interfaceI’ve only browsed one ebook sample but have listened to several audiobooks and the interface is leaps and bounds better than Hoopla and OverDrive. Cons: I’d give it a 5th star if the sleep timer for audiobooks had more than the 30 minute option (custom timer would be best along with 15 minute intervals up to an hour, then 30 minute intervals thereafter), the UI colors could be customized (at the least a dark mode, but I’d also like to change the blurred background color for audiobooks while in landscape mode), and I could customize my library card color tags/icons? (a minor gripe but two of my cards are too similar in color). I’m also not a fan of the settings menu but I can’t put my finger on why right now... Pros: The book layout is great (Hoopla doesn’t even do landscape or two page mode🤬). As a whole, the Libby interface puts books at your fingertips quickly and offers a sleek & modern yet minimalist design that appeals to the eyes. The sort/refine/preferences works well although an ability to sort series by order in the series both ascending and descending is missing. The ability to sync Libby across multiple devices is FANTASTIC (again, looking at you Hoopla) and saves the hassle of logging in on each device and manually downloading each book (again, Hoopla, sup?). The audio/book sample feature (Hoopla comeon!) is conveniently placed, as is the book sample, review, and jacket information..Version: 1.8.1

I’m obsessed!!I use my Libby app daily—multiple times daily—to read books, to listen to audiobooks, and to search for authors or titles of books I want to check out or hold! And it’s all FREE with my library card! You simply can not beat that! Since downloading Libby I’ve saved sooo much $$$ on digital books and audiobooks it’s unreal! Libby’s catalog is extensive, and growing every day! There’s literally books, audiobooks, graphic novels and comics, magazines, and media for everyone! It’s also one of the most stable apps I’ve ever used—I’ve never had any trouble or problems with its functionality and I’ve been using it for a couple of years now. I probably use Libby to check out and listen to audiobooks more than anything else. I still keep my Audible subscription and just use my monthly credits for any newer or very popular audiobooks I’d have to put a “Hold” on with Libby, and I get too anxious and simply cannot wait 🤓, or any books that Libby might not have (which is not many, tbh) and oftentimes I go months without realizing I haven’t even opened my Audible app at all. (I should really just cancel it and save even more $$) If you’re more in to ebooks, or other visual media, Libby gives you the option of downloading and reading them in your Kindle app. There, if you sync that to a Goodreads account, you can even save any Notes or Highlights you make, even after you return the book. Overall, if you have a library card that’s supported by Libby, there’s absolutely no reason you shouldn’t download and use this awesome little app! It’s FREE after all! I can’t think of anything else I get so much use and joy out of that I literally pay nothing for! 💜💜💜.Version: 6.1.0

Overdrive was betterOverall Libby is ok but there’s only one feature that Libby has that Overdrive didn’t that I like and use, and that is the search feature. Since Libby keeps your search history it’s easier to go from Library to library to search for a particular book. But just like Overdrive you still have to click on a particular library to access the catalog. Oddly if you put a hold on a book it will tell you if the wait is shorter at another library. Why can’t it tell me the availability of a book in all my libraries if it can tell me the wait time in ALL the libraries ( makes no sense). Also when going from the one library to another there is no indication of which library you are searching, on some of the pages. I may be the outlier since I have access to 7 different libraries. But searching them all with one click would be nice. I also do not like the download info, in Overdrive you could easily see if all the files were downloaded, with Libby you get no info except a check mark, but many times the book takes forever to open a chapter or not at all if I am not on WiFi so I think parts are not completely downloaded. Lastly the format just seems a bit clunky, Overdrive had a cleaner look and easier to find your info. I hope that with more time I’ll see it’s better parts but right now I miss overdrive..Version: 6.1.0

Actually have time for books nowI hardly have the free time to set aside to even physically visit my local libraries. I haven’t been able to read leisurely for years because of my work schedule. My wife recommended this app, as she mostly checks out audiobooks and listens to them at work. I wish I had taken her up at her first recommendation of Libby, but eventually she got me to just use her account to listen to audiobooks. The reintroduction quickly propelled me to force some time to get my own library cards in our city and my own account because of the checkout limits, and I’m now able to devour books regularly. Feels like being the little bookworm kid again that I had sorely missed being. While nothing beats being able to actually go into a library myself to browse books, the accessibility of just firing up Libby to peruse available books and have at it is absolutely great! I even love how hassle free returning books is with it being automatic, so there’s never any stress about being late and any incurring fees. Now I’m the one that is trying to get friends and fam to go get some library cards and make use this of this app. Of which, I heavily recommend trying to get as many library cards as you can. It’ll broaden your selection and availability of rentals so much more!.Version: 5.1.0

Free is the BEST!!I have been using the Public Library apps for so many years now, first OverDrive and then Libby. I realized that I don’t re-read or re-listen to most books I read. So I reserve my audible account and credits to buy only certain series of books that I love and have already read or listened to multiple times. The Library has a fairly good selection and if you reserve books you want to read they will automatically check out when it’s your turn. It’s a pretty awesome system to get access to for free and I highly recommend it. One thing I discovered is that the local library systems have agreements with each other to allow you to sign up for more than one library card from neighboring counties. I have 3 active library cards which makes it so I have three different collections to view and borrow from. The DC Public Library has different books then Fairfax County or Shenandoah County so if I am listening to a series and DC does not have Book 3 available I can check in Fairfax or Shenandoah Counties. I highly recommend signing up for library cards in the city or towns surrounding your own. Some jurisdictions ask you to pay $20 for the year for a “reciprocal” account but I have not been asked to pay anything because I work in DC and my parents live in Shenandoah County..Version: 5.1.0

Get Libby!I love having access to all the Libby books and it’s great supporting my library. I only do audiobooks now, and I’ve recently gotten into the “graphic audio” options where there’s a cast of voice actors enacting the book (kinda like how a movie sounds!). Libby has plenty of normal audiobooks, too. This app is too good of a deal to pass up. Whether you’re a fan of other audiobook platforms, you should also have Libby. There’s truly no reason not to have it, and when money gets tight or you use all your book credits, you can ALWAYS rely on Libby. My only critiques are: (1) Libby doesn’t let the listener put the sleep timer on “end of 2/3/4/etc chapters”, and only allows you to select end of the current chapter or # of min..you can try to do the math and add up the mins for all the chapters you want to listen to in one go, you’ll get close, but it’s a hassle and Audible allows you to set the timer based on #chapters or #minutes; (2) Libby’s filter options on the search page are somewhat limited—I wish there were more fields to select from—and also sometimes I type (into the search bar) the names of narrators I like and the app labels them as “authors” which is incorrect. Just a tiny pet peeve. Overall, I love Libby and see myself using it for the rest of time! :).Version: 8.3.1

Libby Rating as compared to Cloud LibraryI give Libby a 5 star rating. It was so very easy to work with, so easy to figure out. I never had to request help from the library staff. I have read more than 60 audio books using Libby App. Search is easy. Returns are automatic or if you want to return early, no problem it is a simple procedure. Hold worked without a hitch. I cannot praise this App. Enough. Port Saint Lucie Libraries has now switched us to "Cloud Library"for all audio books. I have had one problem after another with this "Cloud Library". App. First of all I cannot seem to set my setting the way I would like. I accidentally requested an e-book on this app. And couldn't figure out how to return it. It was on the app. Showing overdue for awhile, may still,be,out there somewhere. I did go to the library and try to get help, however there seems to be only one person who can help, and she had not responded to my request for help and it has been 2 weeks. And, the gentleman with whom I spoke when I went to the library tried to convince me that it was NOT possible to borrow an ebook in Cloud Library even tho I have a photo of that book indicating that it is in an overdue status. I am looking forward to the day I am asked to review "Cloud Library", I will go into more depth re: my problems working with this App..Version: 2.0.3

Love using LibbyIt’s great because when you finish a book in the middle of the night or during a time you can run to get a new book you just go to your app and find a new book. I find myself reading while waiting at appointments, drive throughs, waiting in the kids at practices, or during 1/2 time, at night when the house is quiet, during my lunch break, while walking on a treadmill, while getting my hair done, the times that I am able to pick up my iPad, or phone and read a quick chapter or have become endless. I’ve read while waiting on a lunch/dinner date, when waiting on my car to be cleaned or in between classes. I’ve read 13 books in 2 months. Now if Libby will start including AR levels, and points and a way to search for specific level of books so my kids can use it that would be great. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I tell my daughter I wish you brought your book you could squeeze in a few chapters. Please Libby make this student friendly so kids can take advantage of the books also. Right now my daughter will find a book then look to see if it’s a AR book and then it either isn’t AR or it isn’t her level. It would be so nice if she could just search her level and see what her options are. Please Libby add at levels and points to the info of the book and search..Version: 5.2.0

A Lifeline for America’s Youth: The Essential App for Reclaiming Your MindI’ve been using this app for over seven years, ever since discovering it through a Reddit thread in high school, and I cannot recommend it enough. Whether you’re reading on a tablet or phone, this app transforms how you spend your time—perfect for your bedtime reading routine, a refreshing start to your day, or even while at the gym or during downtime at work. In a world full of social media apps designed to waste your time, this app is a breath of fresh air. It allows you to regain control over your time and energy, helping you tap into personal growth and inner potential. Whether I’m using it to listen to audiobooks during my drive to work, reading during a workout or squeezing in some reading during a break at work, this app has become my go-to for making the most of those little moments. If you have a library card and enjoy reading, this app is an absolute game changer. It seamlessly integrates with your library, giving you access to thousands of books, audiobooks, and more, all for free. No matter your reading habits, this app is the perfect tool to enhance your experience and transform your idle time into something meaningful. Highly recommended for anyone looking to make the most of their life..Version: 7.4.1

Love this app! This app allows access to thousands of audio and ebooks via your local library for free. You are able to borrow each book for 7 days but can renew if there is not a wait list. You have the opportunity to read a sample of the book before deciding whether or not you wish to sign it out. If you do not already have a local library card this app walks you through the application process, helps you ascertain a card, and makes library books available for immediately use once the process is completed. Your library card is mailed to your home within a week or so. I have been reading books on my phone for years because it is convenient to have access to reading material wherever you go. Thanks to Libby I have literally saved hundreds of dollars as I no longer have to purchase books on iBooks or Kindle. I have even been able to locate some authors that are out of print. I also love that this app keeps track of the books I have already read for me, so I don’t have to worry about starting a book only to realize a few chapters in that I have already read it. Lol. In addition, I was able to obtain a New York City Library Card as well. This has given me access to even more titles and allowed me to borrow books for an extended time..Version: 5.1.0

Libby is a Library in your handLibby brings the fantastic experience of borrowing a book or an audio book in your hands within minutes. And it’s free! Gone are the hours at the book store or library browsing the stacks for available books to lug to the counter, check out, lug home, and “try and remember when they are going to be due and will you remember to return it before your fees start accruing?” revolution. Look at what is available to read or listen to, including brand new novels and old classics. If it’s available, you’ll be reading in minutes after you click on loan. If all the copies are being enjoyed By someone else but you still want to experience yourself, get in line and you’ll be notified as soon as it’s available. Heard about a book but can’t remember the name or the author, use the search option with just one word of the book and if it’s in the stack, it’ll pop up. Want to read a little snippet and get a feel for the flow, the voice? That’s an option also. If you’ve seen a title but have no idea what the book is about or what others who have read it think about it? Yup, synopsis and reviews are there to check out before making a selection. Have you already forgotten that book your coworker recommended but it sounded great and you want to remember it for next time? Make a list of ‘interesting books to read”. Be creative, make lists of “wanna listen to”, “wanna read”, “books of authors I like”, “sequels to books I’ve read”, the options are endless and personalized by you. This app is the equivalent of having a library with a special librarian who knows your likes and dislikes right in your pocket on call 24/7. The library never closes. And they never shush you or tell you you have to leave..Version: 5.1.0

Love using the Libby app!I love books in any form and Libby has them all. Lately I have been doing a lot of audiobooks and the selection is fantastic. The settings allow you to narrow your search by title, author, subject, audience, etc. You can borrow multiple books and also place several books on hold. The app alerts you when one of the books you placed on hold is ready to borrow. What if you have too many books you want to read right now? Not a problem! You can have it delivered again in 7 days. This is a feature I really appreciate! If you want a book to read right now, there is an Available Now section on the home page. You can narrow down your search and start scrolling. Unless I’m looking for a specific author, that’s usually where I start. Another thing I like about this app is tagging the books I’ve read. I have made several tags using different emojis. As I’m scrolling through books I can instantly see books I have read and what I thought of them based on my tag. I can also tell if I borrowed a book and returned it because my shelf was pretty full. I would also like to say that I have saved so much money using Libby! I used to buy several extra book credits every year through audible and now I don’t have to📚🎧📱🆓.Version: 5.1.0

📚FREE BOOKS!! You don’t have to tell me twice!📚This app is amazing! You need a library card, but don’t worry! They make it so easy for you. You can search your library and once you find it, if available, they direct you to a link where you can apply for and receive a library card completely online. This was so helpful, especially being in this day and age when most people can’t remember the last time they’ve even been in a library, let alone have library cards (me included!). I wasn’t expecting much in terms of book selection, especially in regards to popular/modern-day books, but I was sorely mistaken. Now, this is no Audible or Kindle Unlimited, but considering it’s free, there are plenty of options in both ebook and audiobook format. I love how “borrowing” or “loaning” books works exactly like it would if you were to physically check them out. You can download them to your device and open them on either this app or on Kindle, pretty much immediately after you “borrow it”. You can sometimes extend or renew your return if you need more time, and you can put books on hold, so that you may receive them when they become available. Of course, the more books to choose from, the better, which is why I give it 5 stars, but I recommend this app to any voracious reader… You won’t regret it!.Version: 8.3.1

Fantastic App! Actually free and everything that they advertiseI started using this app because it said that I could borrow for free if I had a library card. I didn’t have one, but after putting my address and email in I was given access through my local library. Since then I have finished 9 books and dont plan on stopping. The app is super easy to use, the loans are very easy to renew if I do go over the 21 day period, and I really enjoy the feature that gives definitions or translations to words and phrases that you highlight in the book. I dont have a Kindle but it offers the option to borrow the book on a Kindle device, I just read on my phone and have had zero issues. I tried an audiobook and they seem to work well, they are less available than the ebooks which is why i dont usually use them. The only complaint I have, and maybe this is just the series that I am reading, but the Books in Series search could be improved, it seems cluttered with a bunch of different versions of the same books and not always in order. To be fair, i am reading the Agatha Christie books and theyve been republished a hundred different ways so maybe im just working with a difficult series. Either way, fantastic app, happy as can be with it, if you want to read ebooks then this app is perfect for you..Version: 5.0.0

Thank you for providing Libby as an optionI have been enjoying the books provided by Libby. It’s an easy assessable opportunity to read books. 👍💕.Version: 3.0.3

Good reading experience. Requires network connection. The Libby app is good for reading library books when the app can find an internet connection. Fine. That gets it a 2. Many of us want to read on our devices on public transportation, where there is often no net connection to be found. Attempting to read a title that has already been downloaded to my phone, on a subway train where there is no internet - Libby fails to load the book. Look, I get it - Overdrive wants to track me, but does that mean you cripple the app for cases where you can't. Bulls!@t. This 'bug; has been persistent since the beta. Then it appeared to be fixed. Now its back. Because of the BS with loading fails, I'm tempted to rate the app 1 star, but the reading experience really is good, once you get a book loaded..Version: 1.7.0

Not a great alternative to OverdriveHard to navigate. Icons smaller and harder to understand. Whole app is cluttered and uninviting. Thoroughly disappointed that this is replacing Overdrive. I’ve given it 2 months of use, still not a fan..Version: 5.1.0

DifficultyLibby is difficult to navigate. On the library interface, the search function does not function. It was impossible to find the book that I just returned to place another hold. By name, by author, or by subject. None of the searches could find a book that obviously was available in the library..Version: 5.1.0

Don’t get rid of Overdrive!!!I’m travelling right now with limited internet. Libby won’t let me read books on my shelf without a connection! Not very useful. Back to Overdrive for me as a connection is not a requirement for books on the shelf..Version: 5.1.0

Love the app butCan u guys please put how many pages r in a book plz.Version: 3.0.7

Get scrolling view please!Great app but please please get scrolling view..Version: 1.8.1

If You Like To Read - Get This App!It’s free! It’s books! Read OR listen! Easy to use! Works great!.Version: 1.7.0

Offline mode doesn’t workI downloaded 4 books before a flight, and even though they were downloaded I wasn’t able to ready anything on the flight..Version: 5.1.0

It works okayFind it’s not very intuitive. You have to constantly search for your author. Unlike previous one that the library had it would show up all the books from author & the related ones when you opened app so I didn’t have to spend so much time looking for my next read. This app does have a very nice read layout..Version: 5.0.0

Works good, wish it could be dimmedI use this in night mode a lot, but it’s bright in the dark of night, even with the black background. IBooks can be dimmed in this situation, would sure love it if that feature could be added. That’s the only thing holding back my fifth star. Thanks for a great app..Version: 3.0.3

Libby My New Best FriendThe app is so easy to use and it helps me to develop my reading habits and keep me knowledgeable on all new and must read books. My LIBBY, my new best friend..Version: 3.0.3

Great app!It is a great addition to all the other services you can have with a library card! Great for listening to books, keep up with your holds, and organize your shelves. However, if you want to listening to and reading books at the same time, you need to open the book with Overdrive. Not a big deal, though..Version: 1.2.0

BanQIt is easy to use and I can rent from the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec. Malheureusement ils n’ont qu’un seul roman audio en français. Tant pis pour eux I am discovering books from around the world. Just finish one from Australia. Thank you..Version: 9.2.1

Very convenientSo nice to be able to borrow books. Some books have a much longer wait and some titles are not there, but otherwise it’s good..Version: 9.2.1

Great AppI can’t thank Libby enough for offering this incredible free of charge online library service. The app is wonderfully designed, with a user friendly interface that seamlessly tracks exactly where I left off, whether I’m reading on my phone or computer, something even Netflix struggle with! I rarely leave reviews, but I had to for Libby..Version: 8.0.2

New suspension policy is not greatI loved the app but they’ve changed how they do holds and it’s not as good anymore..Version: 8.3.1

LibbyLibby is a good app but, sometimes it slows down or my blood doesn’t work so it is a little bit harder when it slows down but,I use it all the time to read and I should recommend it to everyone so,that’s why I rated it 3 stars.Version: 8.0.2
