Audible: Audiobooks & Podcasts Positive Reviews
Great app with one major (to me) issueI’ve been an audible member for over ten years. I listen to books daily and have generally enjoyed this app. However, the bookmarking process is constantly frustrating. I use bookmarks continuously as I listen. Not just for identifying notable passages, but to mark my current page t in the story - in case I accidentally skip to a different section or the app glitches, etc. When bookmarking, a confirmation popup window appears. Until recently, the window disappeared on its own (though it stayed much too long). Now though, it won’t go away without manually closing the window. For someone who bookmarks continuously, this is very frustrating. Now I have an extra step every time. I’d love to have the option to disable this intrusive confirmation. Instead, the developer could make the bookmark button temporarily change color or some other subtle acknowledgement. Other than this, the fact that the app seems to reload or refresh like a browser periodically is my other complaint. Since books I’m listening to are downloaded to my device, I shouldn’t have to wait on the app to establish some internet connection before allowing me to open the player and listen to my books. This generally takes a few seconds, but sometimes can take longer. Either way, it’s not necessary and was never an issue until about the last year. Overall, a solid app that could benefit from a couple refinements. Search feature is nice; I like the options for organizing the library; and the recommendations have been okay..Version: 4.3.1
FactsAll the tips are simple, no brainer, common sense, but they’re surely not commonly practiced. These tips are things I’ve learned along the way of many failed conversations and arguments. We are taught to go to college and make money, and work, as equals with men, then our relationship doesn’t work, they don’t seem to hear us at home, or in the workforce. The is because we are different. The way women communicate with each other, friends or foe, isn’t the same way men communicate with their friends or enemies, so why would we think if we use our communication skills with men, it would translate? This is another dynamic. You may feel like the woman has to change in order to be heard, but a man would have to change to be heard with a woman who is struggling to communicate with a man, and both parties have to give a little, for this to work. These tips allow women to be heard in the way a man can receive her, and it will guide him to feel as ease around her and not clam up, or explode! I want healthy families and relationships for our people, and what more important than how to communicate with your husband, the father of your children? These tactics could also work in the workforce, tailored to the situation. I bet there has never been a better book written on this subject. Just try it out, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Truly, I’m not just saying that. I’m glad I chose this book over thousands of others. It rings true when you listen..Version: 4.51.2
Must have , water the brain stem. Have more culture than the yogurt you’re eating! This app has allowed me to read more books in a year then I probably would in a lifetime with my line of work.I don’t have the time to stop and read as much as I would like to send a Audible makes it so that I don’t have to read I can keep working and listening and growing the library in my head. There is only one thing I would suggest to change, and it would not be to change for fordable the app itself. It would be for the authors of certain books to have the option of different narrators. The Witcher series of books is one of them. I happen to like it but my bride cannot take the way this man narrates. She told me I should record it reading it to her and she would listen to it. She is blind and cannot read obviously so this is her only outlet with such good books on hand. I think that would be a good idea to have a choice of a male, female, maybe even somebody with an English accent lol. I know eventually with the technology they’ll be able to have anybody’s voice read to you but it won’t be the same without the flexion in the voice and the tonality put where it supposed to be sarcasm and so on. The guy who narrates the Witcher series happens to have a very hard way of speaking and it’s abrupt that’s the only thing that made me think that would be a cool feature to have is multiple narrators for the same story. I have made more people join Audible then the army has gotten recruits this year!! Read on readers!!!!.Version: 3.68
Amazing!!A must read!! I came across Unmasking Alice thinking it was a story about a young lady, her addiction and her journal. I started this audible book and was two chapters in when I mentioned it to my son. He said if you are going to listen to that book I suggest you first listen to Go Ask Alice. He also suggested(my son) a podcast of Eric Emerson’s interview on his book. It almost deterred me from listening to Go Ask Alice but my curiosity got the best of me. I went in knowing it was all lies(Go Ask Alice) from the little information I’d gathered so it was difficult to finish. Finally I finished it and was an apprehensive about going back to Unmasking Alice because at this point I felt I got what I needed from the podcast. I also like to finish what I start so back to Unmasking Alice I went and WOW!!! I’m so glad I did! Eric Emerson did a phenomenal job with his works on all of the stories that tied together so many lives! I couldn’t stop listening to his book. I am just amazed at how he brought everyone together from ground zero and never had me bored, uninterested or ready to shelf the book. I even listened to the epilogue! Also being the mom of a history major who is so passionate about his work as a librarian/archivist I so appreciated the tag at the end about the respect and appreciation for those who work in the libraries and as archivists that made it possible for Eric Emerson to write and complete his book. I highly recommend this book!!.Version: 4.47
Business and Life Changing! As a financial advisor, husband, and father this book has completely opened my eyes! I am not ashamed to admit that more than once my eyes filled with tears while listening to this. Not because it is a tear-jerker or some harrowing story, nothing of the sort. Rather it turned the “mirror” and showed what my life has become and road it is leading me down. I consider myself successful as an advisor, I have won awards, been asked to speak at industry events, and do great work for my clients. However, this book forced me to look at my personal life in a different way. I have an amazing, beautiful wife, and two great kids who I hardly see or spend quality time with. Work has become my life. Days, nights sometimes, and even weekends I can be found in front of my computer or on the phone with a client. What’s worse is that I have set this expectation in my family’s eyes. Just this morning I had to pick my 8y/o daughter up from school because she was sick. I took her home, set her up on the couch, and started working in my home office. I came out to check on her after an hour or so and asked how she was feeling. My daughter: “I’m ok. I threw-up, but I feel better now.” Me: “When did you throw up?!” Her: “About 30 min ago” Me: “Why didn’t you come get me?” Her: “You were working, and I didn’t want to interrupt you.” Let that sink in for a minute. I am still trying to process it myself. This book is about transforming into the person, husband/wife, father/mother, and professional we should all be striving to be..Version: 4.18.1
Inspiring and eye opening accountsI read this book because I’m white and I know the Bennett family on a personal level- I have no real understanding of their professional life and the struggles or activism. I always seek to understand perspectives and I definitely wanted to know why the book was titled, “Things that Make White People Uncomfortable”. What I discovered was that I loved the book and it made me uncomfortable in an empathetic and eyes wide open way, making me understand things that I didn’t have prior context to understand. This book will make anyone who is committed to changing the world and giving back “uncomfortable” in a way that shows them there is work to be done and they should be contributing. Michael speaks from his platform as a black, athlete in America- but he highlights many different things in the world that need attention, support and change. This book brings so much awareness to little things and big things I can do daily to lead my family in being part of change. There were many great inspiring and personal stories showing Michael’s vulnerability and personal evolution as a man committed to leading and growth. He speaks of forgiveness and education, women’s issues and supporting their equality and progress, plus so much more. This book helped me understand and empathize with the things that are taking place in football activism rather than me judging without knowing. A great read that isn’t about football, it’s about life, awareness and change making..Version: 2.33
Audible: A Game-Changer for the Multitasking Bookworm📚🐛As a lifelong book lover, I've always had a soft spot for the feel of a physical book in my hands. However, Audible has opened up a whole new world for me, allowing me to enjoy my favorite pastime while tackling my never-ending to-do list. I stumbled upon Audible about a year and a half ago, and it's been a game-changer for my reading habits. As a busy individual with a penchant for multitasking, I was thrilled to discover that I could now learn phonetically at speeds over three times my normal comprehension rate. This means that while I'm cooking dinner, folding laundry, or taking a leisurely stroll, I can also be expanding my knowledge on a wide range of subjects. The best part? My phonic learning has become just as effective as my regular speed reading from paper books. I've been able to dive into topics I've always been curious about, and the experience has been nothing short of enlightening. Audible's vast library of audiobooks and podcasts has something for everyone, from bestsellers to hidden gems. The user-friendly interface and seamless integration with various devices make it a breeze to switch between my favorite titles. In conclusion, if you're a multitasking bookworm looking to expand your horizons while getting things done, Audible is the answer to your prayers. With its impressive selection, user-friendly interface, and the ability to learn at lightning-fast speeds, Audible has truly revolutionized the way I experience literature. So, grab your headphones, hit play, and prepare to be amazed!.Version: 4.24.1
Love the app, HATE the updateIn the recent update, the library only shows me TWO of my around 15 books!! What??? I updated and went to go listen to a book, only to find that the only place it existed was the ‘Recent Additions’ section. I just don’t get why all the books can’t be in the library section!! I have reloaded several times and it still only shows two books that I have finished. Some of the books I couldn’t find until I scrolled through each and every section of where books are. Before the update, I thought the navigation through the app was really easy and great, but since the update, I have trouble with finding the books. I always do find them, but it could be much easier. I think that all the books, in addition to the places on the home screen, should be in the library. Other than the new update, I really love audible!! I get through books way faster, as I usually listen on 3.5x speed and follow along. I haven’t used audible by itself, without following along, but I’m sure that would be great too!! On my kindle, I like that I can switch between the book and audio book quickly, but I do not like that I can’t do both. Usually, when that happens I use my phone for the audiobook, but I’d prefer to only have to use my kindle. All the books I’ve listened to and read were excellent!! The voice actors are amazing. TL;DR: the app itself is hard to navigate because of the update and almost none of the books are in the library, but I would totally recommend audible, even if you’ve never tried audiobooks before.Version: 3.25
OMG I’m shook!!!What in the BLAZES just happened?! Mike. Drop!! Record skip, did NOT see that coming!! RUE & Lawson with their EPIC freaking cliffhangers. Ugh! October can’t get here fast enough!!! How does this all pan out? Where do we do from here? My heart broke for Verity at the end and I ligit wanted to smash my kindle against the far wall and throat punch the F out of the H’s, all 3 of them! I’ll keep it vague so you can enjoy yourself but DANG, what a ride. There are still other mysteries brewing in the background, the girls, possible next Counts and Barons and a new leading lady, maybe more from Lavinias dead father…This world just keeps on building and I’m here for it. This installment was everything. I couldn’t put it down. I neglected EVERYTHING I was supposed to get done today for it and I can’t even be mad about it. If you haven’t been reading this series, you need to grab it stat! So so good! I did the listen and read option of course and Jake Bordeaux’s voice took some getting used to. I feel he would have been better suited to the Dukes but Bridget Bordeaux’s voice was perfect for Verity. I couldn’t get enough from listening to this. It brought the drama to that next level! All in all an amazing installment to this world I stumbled upon. This series was recommend to me and was my very 1st RM. I wasn’t a fan before this but boy oh boy these ladies do it so well that I will one click ANYTHING they wrote. Yes, they are that good! Counting down the days to the next release. I cannot WAIT to see what happens next!!.Version: 4.27.1
PLEASE Adjust the More Options Menu on Right Side! The gist: the newer right hand More Options Menu conflicts with playback and needs to be thought through for ease of function (and to prevent loyal customers from experiencing immense frustration). I have enjoyed Audible for many years now, listening to several books each month and a library of nearly 400 titles. Most everything has been great (though I’ve found headaches with the bookmark/note taking and so do all of that outside the app), but one of the more recent updates changed the way customers interact with books in the library. You used to swipe left to select “remove from device,” which was a very conscious effort action. Now, however, there are three dots on the right side that one must hit to bring up a short menu of options to then select “remove from device.” My gripe with this is that 98% of the time, when a book is completed and I want to remove it to then begin a new title, I go to hit the dots and instead the dang book I just finished starts to play again. Similarly, I recently purchased several titles that all automatically downloaded to my device, and here again each time I tried to three-dot-tap to remove them for a later listening time, each one started playing. It’s so dang maddening. And I hate that my books are now all out of listening order. Please, PLEASE do something about this. The design is so flawed..Version: 4.33
The secret thoughts of an unlikely convertThis book was so encouraging. I have been both a missionary when I was single and then left it and got married. I have Been Married fir 28 years. We have 4 amazing children that God has loaned to us! No “adopted ones”. We have done a little of everything in our family. Christian school, home school, and a combination of public and home etc.. Our children are almost raised there are 23,21, 19 and 17. They all love the Lord. And sometimes as a mom you wonder if it was worth it To spend so much time with them! Dr. Butterfield had a very different lifestyle as she was not saved at a young age. But now there is no difference between her and a woman that has been blessed to be a Christian like myself since she was nine years old. What matters is how we finish. How are you living now. Dr. Butterfield did not just become a Christian and live on her safe saved position. She continued to listen to God. She is so close to God because she really did care for the orphans. God really used her knowing what it was like to be feeling like an outcast for the good as God (rom8:28) promises he will always do. This book is really rekindled and encouraged me to give my home wholeheartedly again to God and Open my messy house more. Yes I am supposed to be busy in the home. And I guess it doesn’t really matter if it’s totally clean. So yes I highly highly recommend this book! I thank dr. Butterfield for being so completely open, honest and transparent. I really enjoy the fact that it is read by her!!.Version: 2.37.1
Future POTUSAs soon as I heard about this book on the Megyn Kelly show I immediately purchased. It is the first book I’ve actually finished on audible and in short order as it was a page turner the ear. A comprehensive review of our greatest president in US history, Donald Trump And what his family has had to endure by all the corrupt narcissistic despicable Democrats. Your family is the complete opposite of the Kennedy clan with all of their shenanigans Eric, you are quite possibly stronger than your father and we won’t let you retire from politics For this country needs another strong leader to fight the evil in this world that is trying to take down the greatest country that has ever existed to mankind I am just a hard-working Dentist from South Mississippi, who grew up on a dirt road and came from nothing in 1970 And just want to say how God send your family is to our country and how you all put us right back on top where we should be and the envy of the world. So many of us work hard and the American dream isn’t just given. It has to be fault for and protected. This country is under siege. And I have told so many people about this book that Shed’s light on these evil Democrats whenever legacy media won’t do it.. Thank you for having so much courage and energy. Not many people could survive all that you and your family have been through and would have folded. We love your truly amazing family and we love President Donald John Trump. I have taken my teenage daughter to three of his rallies and then to two others, and would love to shake his hand and have a few words with him one day...Version: 4.55.1
ITS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!So this is amazing. 𝓘 𝓛𝓞𝓥𝓔 𝓘𝓣!!!!!!!! If you can't read that it says "I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!" And I'm listening to Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. And there's a lot of movies of Percy Jackson and the Olympians it's like this 12 year old boy and he is a half blood/Demi God and when he finds out he's a half blood it gets worse with monsters and Hades is making plans to try to kill Percy but none of his plans work. His friend Annabeth calls Percy "Seaweed brain" but he never thinks it as mean and he is the son of the sea God/Posidon and Annabeths mom is Athena the goddess of wisdom. Percy and Annabeths parent God emortal meaning non human and Posiden and Athena don't get along because Posiden and his girlfriend went into Athena's temple with no permission. That can be rude, and Zues's lightning bolt that is 2 feet long and a God named Aries stole the bolt and it is a law for gods and half bloods to steal from the Olympians it is aleagle to steal And I never mentioned that he is ADHD and dyslexic and when he reads the letters float around and turn into ancient Greek on the pages of the book or a chalk board. Alright back to the app. So I would definitely recommend this app and if you do get this app please try Percy Jackson if you don't like it then don't listen at all and half bloods are real and I'm a half blood. 𝓗𝓸𝓹𝓮 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓮𝓷𝓳𝓸𝔂 😊if you can't read that it says Hope you enjoy I can read but I'm dyslexic too but I can read because I've been practicing my reading. Have fun!.Version: 4.30.1
For audiobooks it’s good for podcasts it’s really badAudiobooks work great and I love the app for most things, I know that I can’t buy books through the app because that’s on apple. The reason why I give it 3 stars is because the podcast side of it is pretty useless. 1. It is pretty hard to find anything on the app(I find things that my wife would love and she can’t find it even with me telling her about it and I can spend 20 to 30 minutes trying to find something new and come up empty handed) 2. If I accidentally hit anything in my library it will automatically play but I can hit the play button on a podcast one, two, three, four times with a good delay between each press and nothing happens. 3. If I accidentally play something else and try to go back to my podcast it always forgets where I was(last time this happened it started the last 6 seconds of the first episode despite it having been fully played, then when I found the episode I was on it started 9 minutes in despite my last place having been closer to 29 minutes in) 4. Auto play does not move you forward to the next episode if you have to find which episode you were on because of point 3 leaving you with dead air and nothing to listen to while driving on the highway(my main use case) 5. Sort and filter are pretty useless why can’t I filter out listened to episodes or in search entire shows or books. I’m looking for a book in a series and they don’t show up in order and it shows owned books why can’t I filter those out to make my life easier. Ok I think I have made my points but I originally gave it 3 stars after writing out all of this I think it’s more of a 2 star. 5 stars for the service 2 stars for the app..Version: 3.42
Revenge reviewFascinating read for someone who lives across the pond. As a fellow American I felt an automatic allegiance to her when her relationship with price Harry began. My only reservation about her was that she might be too Hollywood for the royals, sadly I was correct. Some reviews called this a hit piece but he wrote many things about her that I thought were flattering, especially her early years growing up. She was a hard worker and driven, clearly using the gift of her education to her advantage but sadly weaknesses in her character have been her and Harry’s downfall. Her ambition does not bother me until her disregard of staff and people who she deemed held no value to her Became apparent. Her treatment of her Father is so very sad. Their woke leftist views are their right to embrace but their arrogance like most Hollywood elitist in this sphere holds no room for for those who may disagree with them. If u disagree u are to be canceled, label a racist and called a merchant of miss information, which is not a good look for the royal family and it’s continuing sustainability. This is not the first storm to rock the royal family, hopefully they can pull through. The biggest loser in this sad family tale is Megan’s father. For Megan to constantly throw out race and her horrible treatment being a woman of color, I find it ironic that the parent she trotted out before the world was the appropriate color for her narrative and the parent she ghosted was not. Well written and well researched, would read this author again..Version: 3.84
Sexless marriageI’m a guy that being said I love my wife very much And i’m a very dedicated father I stopped going out my family is number one in my life no if and or butts. I try so very hard to make my wife feel special. Once a week she gets flowers in the summer spring and fall. The first 10 years we together I worked and opened up a landscape business so she was able to stay home with the kids if she wanted to. I would do anything for her the marriage Vals mean very much to me. It has not been an easy road I was in a car accident and had to get a hip replacement the guy who hit me had no license or insurance my daughter just got home from the hospital from her second open heart surgery she has a total of 4. After the guy hit me and I had to get my hip replaced we true through our savings and on 5 to 6 months rehab I found myself back to work in less than two months because we were going to lose the house. It is not been easy I was prescribed painkillers did not really abuse them but my wife and I have said some horrible things to each other one of them was I don’t know what’s worse being married to a crippled or drug addict. I have also said some not nice things to my wife that is actually among the milder things she has said to me. I try to go out on date nights I try and do special things with her pretty much just seems no change. We have sex once every 7 to 10 days and I struggle very much with this and she knows that. I love my wife and would never let sex and my marriage but I truly don’t know she loves me anymore. I’m sorry I’m writing this to nobody but I have nobody to talk to.Version: 2.35.1
Most used app I have aside from gpsLove this app so much. Had it for years and does not disappoint. Thank you for being here, existing and being in my life. Such a great idea and concept. Sorry it took me so long to rate this amazing app! Get it, you won’t regret it, so many wonderful title and books and not over priced! Update: This is still a great app but it needs to be said that the home tab is waaay too much noise visually speaking. Way too many suggestions and advertised books for an app. It’s not a clean look and honestly it’s ugly. The app needs a more sleek minimalist feel for ease of use. I literally get anxiety seeing the homepage with all the extra books recommendations, catalogues and so forth. When I use the app I just want to get to the point not be defaulted to a crazy looking page foot of book images. Please higher someone to update your app comestically. With the IOS update people are discovering less is more with widgets and less apps. Try to use that same concept, I want to see recommendations make it the last tab not the first. Have the first tab be the library and instead of a line chart of books maybe give the option of line display or chart display, just something more sleek please. Update 03 May 2021: The app skips the audio for some reason and when the screen goes dark it stops playing. Please fix this. This is pretty frustrating and my settings don’t have anything that causes this to happen..Version: 3.46
Very informativeI Joseph really enjoyed all the information that was given and also the stories that were told I’ve listen to this over 10 times and each time that I listen I get something that I missed along the way or maybe I heard it but now it’s been reinforced by listening again as I start to utilize some of these principles in some of the ventures that I partake in I look forward to one day meeting Dean and sharing with him my stories of success this book has also been Instrumental in helping me to heal and deal with a life-changing situation I recently had to bury my son it is been a little over three weeks he took his own life and had been suffering from depression for a few years he was a very bright child Kyle who is 28 now was a graduate from USC A great kid who never gave me any problems growing up great athlete and even a greater student he was truly one of the greater worlds in my universe and I truly love and miss him dearly as the tears continue to fall I mention this for the fact of letting Dean know how inspiring this book has been for me it is as if he is saying to me personally don’t forget your pain embrace it and be motivated from it Dean has felt to me as he is a family member or one of my closest friends who have been with me in this abstract journey that is now manifested in my life in it’s own way is has had a comforting affect in allowing me To move forward Dean I truly thank you for this book may peace and blessings and much success for you and all others be upon you. Thanks again Joseph.Version: 2.37
When ideologies constantly changing, how to choose what is rightI would recommend this book to believers and unbelievers to challenge yourselves, to see how far you drifted away during the tide in the night. This book is very practical. It serves justice to what it means to be truly free. This book is like a stump once great tree., that didn’t cut down into pieces, but a new tree will grow in its place using the root system of the old tree. It’s amazing to go through pain and suffering in one’s life, and remain a human. To go through ever-changing cycles of systematic indoctrinations, and remain with dignity before your creator. Fredrick Nietzsche, at one point suffered through physical illnesses, mental illnesses, went through marriage break ups, and died in mental institution. And to say he was a man with weak mind that would be injustice statement. He had a brilliant mind. He chose to build a nuclear weapon. I’m speaking metaphorically for Christians, he wanted to destroy them with their God. By saying god is dead. How wrong was he! Take a good look Christians went through slavery, Egypt, Babylon, Rome Russia, and list goes on…. Believers went through concentration camps, Gulak prisons, death in Roman arenas. And did not lose their faith. Jesus. Died on the cross. For you and me.. and he said where I am you will be also. Be strong and believe. if you’re going through alcoholism drugs if you’ve been molested sexually abused, if you dabbled in witchcraft even if you’re friends turned away from you. God did not, he said. Come to me all who is wary and I will give you rest..Version: 4.0.1
Best Friend!Audible is my best friend. Yes, that’s cheesy, but I’m Best Friend! I listen to my Audible books all day long while I’m on the job. I’m an interior painter and can just zone out and do my work while disappearing into another world, and other life, or an exciting fantasy. My days go by so quickly! The selection is incredible. The sales are really great especially around the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. I have hundreds and hundreds of books I’ve listened to and still hundreds more to come! Best Friend! I have hundreds and hundreds of books I’ve listened to and still hundreds more to come! with Audible more than any other being, with the exception of my family. My job is solo where we can listen to podcasts or music all day, so I choose to listen to books. If there was an Escapism badge on this like Kindle, I’d have it my awards collection for sure. The talent both in authors as well as narrators is incredible. The selection is perfect! Soooooo happy with this app!.Version: 4.53
Fascinating and RequiredAs a “published-historian, just a couple of articles in The Ohio Archaeologist quarterly, this book SHOULD be required reading in high school or, at least, university. I grew-up surrounded by men who fought in WW2, both in the European and Pacific theaters, and had grandfathers and uncles who fought in WW1, and the Civil War—in the Ohio 113th Volunteer Infantry. This book was written by a man who was THERE and had access to primary-source documents. You can’t do much better than that, whether you’re a journalist or a historian. As a retired Marine M-60 gunner, you couldn’t have done better if you’d been lugging a Browning M2 or a BAR yourself. As a man who just got his daughter and son through their college degrees, I have spent a lot of time on the campus of the current National Champions in NCAA football. The LACK of knowledge of and interest in History amazes me. You can find videos online that prove even people who go to the most prestigious Ivy League schools, when asked questions like “Who won the Civil War?” will answer “Japan?” “Vietnam?” (Not all of course but too many to make ME comfortable with the “education” they’re getting.) There’s a reason for the old statement that “those who don’t learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.” Just walk in with a crowd of “LGBTQ+ against Israel!” and ask a few questions and you’ll find out. Ignorance isn’t bliss. It’s just ignorance. Give them a copy of this book and maybe (I say “maybe” because it’s longer than your average TikTok video) some eyes will be opened. An amazing book that I will read again before long. Semper Fi.Version: 4.48.1
Couldn’t stop listeningSad. Just sad to me. My heart always rises and falls with stories like this. Natives do not receive just treatment even tho we are in 2019 we want to believe that they do, that times have changed but they haven’t...time changed nothing it was just time passing....attitudes and behaviors just became quite personal bias. The Black lives matter campaign is so loud that the struggles, discrimination and abuse Natives suffer from goes quietly untold. If someone suffers from alcohol and drug abuse every time there is mental illness present. How on earth can any attorney not see that or take that defense. Sadly there is still such a divide between all ethnic races and the white culture in the USA. There always will be because people rarely do not want to know what other races have to go through to be part of this country. My heart is broken for the victims in this book. Teddy was also a victim. I do believe that he saw something and witnessed something while on the run. There are indigenous people in the Mountains in Panama tribes that they believe are out there and some they have discovered but leave alone. Hunting 411 and Missing 411 prove that for hundreds of years there are unexplained happenings and a undisclosed number of missing people in our National Forests. Why is it so hard to believe that there are still undiscovered tribes in Alaska where a lot of the Terran hasn’t even been ventured to. Thank you for telling such a vital story. Teddys and his mother’s story needed to be told. The story of the victims needed to be told. Thank you!.Version: 3.14.2
Get it togetherI’ve purchased both of Watter’s audio books. I buy audio books so I can hear the author say the words and the inflections and tone of the words give me more about the book than the words. I will NEVER purchase another book by Watter’s that he doesn’t narrate. I don’t think he has any idea the sales you’re going losing by not narrating it yourself. It’s also very lazy. If you’re not proud enough of the book to bother to narrate it why should I bother. Taking the lazy way shows me you’re not worthy of watching you’re show on Fox or the five when you on. Whatever reason you’ve created to not narrate you own book the truth is you’re just lazy and will only give 90% to whatever you’re doing. Not a good legacy to leave. Unfortunately you have to write another book and narrate it to get me back. I realize I just one person but what you don’t know the hundreds of thousands of people that feel the I do. Good by for a very long time and likely forever, I doubt you’ll ever change only giving 90%. Your biggest problem is you don’t know what you don’t know, you should find out, that extra 10% is where you find the real answers. Last note, this is first review I’ve ever written and I have well over 1000 Audiobooks in my library and have finished everyone..Version: 4.18.2
Love this !!Very well written, and the audio was depicted beautifully. The clarity of the narration truly brought the text to life, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the story being told. Each word flowed smoothly, painting vivid images in the minds of listeners as they engaged with the content. The skillful pacing in the audio allowed for a perfect balance between dramatic emphasis and subtlety, ensuring that the key moments resonated powerfully. Every inflection carried meaning, and the tone was carefully modulated to match the emotions embedded in the narrative, enhancing the overall experience. Listeners were not merely recipients of information; they became participants in a captivating journey. The way the narrator effectively conveyed varying emotions—from joy and excitement to sadness and contemplation—created a dynamic range that kept the audience captivated throughout. The incorporation of ambient sounds further enriched the storytelling, creating an immersive audio environment that transported listeners right into the scene. Moreover, the attention to detail in audio quality was commendable. The crispness of the voice combined with an appropriate background setting ensured that nothing detracted from the message being delivered. No distracting noises interrupted the flow, allowing for an uninterrupted experience that maintained the listener's attention Dascha Polanco is amazing.Version: 4.48
Better and better- not perfectThis app gets better and better but it isn't perfect. The app has great features and a few clunky ones. More good ones than it used to have. They are being improved over time. All in all, I'm happy with my experience. I can return books I didn't like if they are returned within 6 months. I don't read (listen to) them that quickly. I buy faster than I listen to them. Some times I finish them and the "finished" indication doesn't stay associated with the book through app revisions. Not Cool! The stories included in the titles are often well done but some presentations need serious rework - not many - but the choice for presenter could sometimes be improved. I've listened to a couple dozen different presenters by now ( a couple hundred books ). If those that were "flat" could be trained or replaced with more skilled people a lot of the stories would be better but, sometimes the story is the problem and that is a shame. It becomes easier to tell the difference between problems in story and presentation as you hear more of each. The short samples offered before you buy are most helpful ( at least to me ) only after my ear has become trained by listening to a goodly number of books by many presenters..Version: 2.27
‘tis the season to do some listeningAs someone who used to carry around big CD sets of audiobooks, I really appreciate Audible. I have had the service off and on for many years now, and there have been some significant improvements. In this current season, I am choosing to listen to a bunch of shorter books that I probably would not have listened to otherwise and giving them reviews. It’s pretty interesting how many books are on Audible now thanks to the AI voice. That is pretty cool as well. I got up here again recently to listen to a book that my wife recommended. Even though I wasn’t 100% interested in the book myself, I thought it would be good to listen to and have something to converse about. As a result, I am going down a very interesting rabbit hole of material facilitated by the books that come with the premium plan. I wonder what I’ll be like at the end of listening to all of these books. We are in an interesting time where we could learn a lot of things about a lot of people and a lot of world views just by listening to audiobooks. I wish more people would do something like that. But, since I can’t control other people I might as well just do it myself and see how I expand. I appreciate this relationship building tool,.Version: 4.36
Absolutely the best way to enjoy books!Customer for 6 years. I love books and I love stories but was never a fast reader and as I got older, with needing glasses for reading, was finding it difficult to still enjoy reading. After mentioning it to my older brother, he suggested that I try Audible. He purchased a book from one of my favorite authors which is Stephen R. Lawhead, the book is called Byzantium. After listening for 25 hours I was amazed at how easy it was to listen and still enjoy the book. While I had read the book 2 times before, I did not miss a beat by listening and even found the whole experience such an adventure like never before. A whole new world was before me and I could listen and enjoy my books with greater appreciation with the ability to listen in a wide variety of settings and atmospheres. I could listen in the dark if I was having a migraine or sensitive to light. I could listen while doing dishes or working outside. I could listen in the car for long travels. I could listen even at work as long as I am not reading something else. I can listen when I am at a family’s house and there is no one for me to interact with. I can even listen to it when I am waiting in the car for my wife. The ability to listen on so many different devices and able to hear everything so clearly. I love being able to slow down the playback speed which helps me to process everything that is being said. I am so thankful that my wife has blessed me with the ability to listen to my book library instead of only being able to read it. And I love the way Audible keeps track of what I am listening to and where I left off. Truly an amazing program/ company which I am so thankful for!!!!!.Version: 3.9.1
Born of EarthBy A L. Knorr It was almost a year ago that I read this book, so when I found the opportunity to listen to it on Audible, I jumped at it. I am so glad that I did! With AL Knorr about ready to publish sequels to this book, it was an ideal time to review/listen to it. I have never reread any book as I always then knew what had happened. Life is short and books are many, but as I have aged, l remember only the basics of the story. As I listened to Born of Earth, the vivid writing came to life as if watching a movie and I was in Ireland with Georgie. I was there ten years ago, so pictures were brilliant in my mind of the land and people . i was amazed at how little I remembered of the details which brought the story to life. Listening to the reader was reminiscent of listening to radio stories in my childhood where imagination was able to “see” what was happening. So, I loved every minute of the book as if I had never read it. As Georgie grew to see the Fey and become a Wise, I wished to see Ley lines, and fairy buds, to hear the plants telling of what they can cure, and to sink feet into the earth. To read a story by A L Knorr is to enjoy a well-written book with strong characters, a great plot and a new experience unlike any other. But to listen to that same story is to experience it..Version: 3.74
LOL “Laugh out loud” or “Lots of Love”Either applies on this instance!!I had a sweet friend who used “LOL” to mean the latter ....”Lots of Love”. Generally speaking, most would probably agree the meanings are not “interchangeable”. You would not respond to sad news (ie: my old Aunt Nancy just died) with...LOL..to mean you were laughing at the writer’s loss. My friend was horrified when we told her the actual meaning...as she recalled all the circumstances she thought she was sending sweet, loving condolences ...not guffawing in laughter. BACK TO THE BOOK...once again Adriana has created characters with so much personality - they are irresistible! I have read/listened to at least 6-7 of this authors books...and will continue down her list. Thank God, she keeps writing...I never want my list to end. Regarding the reader: I have to admit, I was not sure about the male voice...and being a southern - well let me just say this...as much as Northerns think our “drawl” is weird...this guy’s accent was so “annoying”...I almost didn’t make it through the first chapter!! LOL! (Appropriately used...BTW). Well...so glad I hung in there..this actor is BRILLIANT! He changed his voice with each character..subtlety and with panache. I could go on and on..(clearly, based on what I have written so far) BOTTOM LINE: I LOVED this book. It is a love story..not a “romance” but the LOVE of family, Heritage, culture, God and...self. It is LOL = “LOTS OF LOVE” AND...LOL = it will have you “LAUGHING OUT LOUD”..Version: 3.0.1
Exceptional chronicle of historical events and circumstances that amount to America’s race problem. This work is an exceptional chronicle of historical events that highlight the progression and development of America’s modern race problem. The author underscores the Black struggle for equality in America has benefited not only Blacks but women, the elderly, the infirm, and poor alike. Most importantly, using prose and citing scholarly articles, she dispels the notion that the wealth disparity between Blacks and Whites of all socio-economic strata is the result of characteristics or choices of all Black peoples. Instead she demonstrates beyond reproach that the pronounce wealth gap between the two races is the result of pervasive, systemic, state sanctioned economic plundering of an entire race of people from their first being brought to this country in 1619 through the present day. Slavery, sharecropping, debt peonage, redlined housing districts, high loan rates, the destruction of thriving Black communities, legalized theft by violence and coercion all contribute to the lack of wealth of the Black American. I could go on, but I’ll leave the rest of this jewel as something you must discover for yourself. As a veteran, a patriot, a business man, a natural born Black American Man, I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, this listen is the truth-gospel in fact. Check it out..Version: 4.42.1
Love it!UPDATE: I think it’s now been 12 years since I first discovered Audible. I still use it every day. They finally made it a lot easier to organize my library, which I really needed, because I have over 1600 books. Sure, I bought many on sale or as a Daily Deal, but I have no regrets and have finally just added an item in my budget for buying books instead of pretending they are an “occasional” purchase. And without Audible and my great library, I do not know how I would ever have made it thru the pandemic!! I’ve barely watched TV. It is ALL about the Audible!!! UPDATE: another several years in, and Audible is still the app I use EVERY day. Because it is the best! Bug fixes and design tweaks have kept it moving forward, without ever making me think “aw it was better before the update.” (Looking at you, iPhone!). Audible is the only app I would take with me to a desert island. Yes. It’s that good. UPDATE: it’s been 8 years now and other than the text messaging apps, Audible is easily the most frequently used and loved app in my phone, by far. With the recent improvement so it’s now possible to buy new audiobooks with credits through the app, it’s even better. Audible, I’m your #1 fan!! (Apologies to Stephen King.) I've been using this app daily for over 2 years now and love it. Are there bugs? Yes. Is it perfect? No. But the problems others complain about are really minor to me. Sleep isn't on the main screen, but one touch brings it up. For me what's relevant is how vast an improvement this player is over the only other I've used, Overdrive, which feels like something out of the Middle Ages by comparison. I know the Audible app's quirks and don't have a problem with them, because it works beautifully. Every day. <3.Version: 3.68
EDIT one of my most used apps.EDIT: Thanks so much for the response, team. I updated the app and am so relieved. I can’t tell you how much I was missing listening to my books. So happy it was just a bug! Definitely giving the app 5 stars overall! I LOVE my audiobooks. Audible was one of my very top used apps, as I have a hard time focusing on tasks around the house/work/etc without some sort of sensory input. I have it running almost all the time. The last update ruined the whole app for me. I live way out in the middle of nowhere with no wifi and only the most tenuous connection to the data network. Suddenly, after updating the app, it won’t play any of my DOWNLOADED titles without an internet connection. What the heck is the point of taking up my phone storage space downloading all these books, if I now can’t even play them from my phone?? I am so disappointed, as I can’t listen to any of my favorite books at home anymore because I can’t find a place to connect enough to start the chapter. I know I’m just one random human to a huge corporation, but please, please, please, fix this. I am already missing my books acutely. It’s so disappointing to not be able to play my selection of downloaded books..Version: 3.90
Good but lacking in some areas.I thought it was very detailed and well researched. The details about the nuts and bolts of running a presidential campaign and managing the primaries were especially interesting. That said, I have 2 major complaints. First, the tone of the book was way too partisan. I was under the impression it would be an honest, non-partisan assessment of the campaign and everything that went wrong. That’s how it was advertised. But it read as though it was written by the Clinton campaign or the DNC. Dismissing valid conservative positions, diminishing the many mistakes she made, and stating opinions about trump (“trump is a racist”) as though they were irrefutable facts, in my view, diminished the effectiveness of an otherwise well written and detailed work. Also a strong, and very false insinuation that trump voters are all uneducated and racist was present throughout. The attitude that lost her the election in the first place, frankly. I say this as a republican and supporter of the president who genuinely wanted to hear the other side but felt attacked personally at every turn. Second, I feel like several major milestones of the election were completely ignored, where some insight as to the Clinton campaign’s reaction would have been interesting. The RNC for example. What did they think about trumps acceptance speech? What did they think about Chris Christie’s searing evisceration of her life and career? I was expecting a reaction to those things, and received none..Version: 3.1.2
Finding MeViola Davis is incredible!! An incredible actor, person, mentor. I love love love listening to her recant her childhood, her life. The raw truth, the struggles, the pain, tragedy, disappointment, fear. The FORGIVENESS to her abusive dad. I cried a million tears because I was so touched that she was able to build a loving relationship with her dad despite it all……He knew she truly loved him unconditionally and left this life with that knowledge in his soul. It reminded me of my own dad 😭and our relationship. The courage to tell her story the good bad and the ugly. And there were plenty of ugly events that many would not survive. The love for the family despite their short comings. The sincere prayer to God to bring her Julius, the love of her life. Owning her roots and who she is, where she came from and where she is now. Not forgetting any of it. Ohhhhh, the trip to Africa. Gaining affirmation from the Mother Land that she is SOMEBODY…that we are all somebody and figuring out who that somebody is in this cruel world and taking a dignified stand. Standing tall as a beautiful, dark skinned sister, beautiful inside and out!! What an inspiration. Viola stated “The Purpose of Life is to Live It”. I’m so very inspired to live my life to the fullest, as tomorrow is promised to no one. Thank you Ms. Viola Davis….thank you. I loved it all. ME.Version: 3.75.1
Inconsistencies, splits between narrators ruin a good bookI really wanted to like this book, as it was highly recommended to me by a friend. And I loved about 50% of it — the chapters written from Eve’s POV. The writing for her was immersive, interesting and enjoyable. The characters in her chapters were witty and personable. I wish the entire book had been from her perspective. Unfortunately, I found the other main character/narrator to be insufferable and repetitive. It felt at times as though the author were beating a dead horse to remind the reader what life was like for women in the 40’s, and the constant remarks that Charlie wasn’t like other girls because she could do math were irritating. There were jarring inconsistencies such as the repeated characterization of Charlie being ugly, which didn’t line up with the fact that every male character she interacts with wants to sleep with her or calls her attractive. Other moments of inconsistency included the narrator calling the character Finn by the wrong name (how this wasn’t caught in post production is beyond me, but unfortunately I have found this in a number of audio books across the board.) The second primary one being the author’s absurd assertion that a character used pistols to hunt large game such as a pride of lions. It’s a shame because a novel that centered around the cunning and efficacy of female spies in a world that didn’t value women would have been riveting and fascinating. Inserting an annoying college drop out wallowing in self-pity merely distracted from the great spy plot..Version: 4.36
Can I Give It 6 Stars? The Things They Carried has been my favorite book since I read it in 1994. I was living in Oxford, Mississippi for a year and taking a short story workshop. One Sunday morning I was sitting on my back deck, and I read the now-infamous Sunday NY Times Magazine cover story by Tim O’Brien. About returning to Viet Nam 25 years after he had served in the war there. I didn’t know who Tim O’Brien was. But after finishing that powerful and tranquillizing piece, and wiping my tears away, and saying out loud to nobody, “No, no, no, you can never kill yourself! Ever! You are too important!”, I raced down to Square Books to find and buy anything ever written by him. By the next day I had read The Things They Carried. It stopped time and changed my life. I was a raw new writer at the time. But the bar had been set for me. One I’d never reach myself in a lifetime, of course, but it’s a blessing when that happens, right? That’s the whole point. I’ve read this book many times since, and various stories in it, but hearing it read by Bryan Cranston did not diminish it for me — which I was afraid another voice might do. Instead, he brought it to its full life throughout. And I loved that Audible included that famous Sunday NY Times Magazine piece as a bonus at the end, with Tim reading it himself. I guess I can say that the magazine piece is what stopped time for me, and the book changed my life. It was a gift to get both here, together. The only thing I could say to a potential reader/listener regarding this book is — be very careful. Because once you’ve heard this one, your bar will be set. Or reset. And don’t ever expect any other book to move it higher. —— Anne Rapp.Version: 3.77.1
Have No FearAfter listening to this audible with Joyce Meyer it made me understand my fears I have with calling my clients. Listening to scripture made me do it anyways- the Lord is on my side. I have been listening to Joyce’s sermons for over a decade and have purchased some of her books. “Do it afraid ,” is by far my favorite audible I will buy this book to keep on my shelves for reference. Being in sales can be challenging when you get a lot of “No’s by people over the phone, would make me want to quit! But listening daily to Joyce about other normal everyday people with their fears and overcoming them with the help of my Lord Jesus opens my eyes, to see how little my fears are. I would say to myself- just call the first 10 people - then it would be 20 people, then 50 - after my calls were made and I completed the task with the help of the Lord Jesus it would not be as bad as I thought. I would say a little prayer~ Thank you Lord that you are always here by my side helping me build my business and to keep my accountable in my daily tasks- in Jesus name Amen. Thank you Joyce Meyer for writing this book, and teaching me the scriptures in the Bible to help me daily do it Afraid but Not afraid anymore 🙏🏼 . Lillian from Los Angeles.Version: 3.85.1
YA girl is kidnapped, gets Stockholm syndrome, predictable plot twistThis book was ok. I should have read the description more closely but suggest it should be labeled YA. I would have loved it if I was 18 again. The protagonist is of course the virgin princess who is stolen away by the dark handsome devil, and if you’re into the how do I get mommy and daddy to approve of my bad boy “bc I love him and we are meant to be”,” trope this will be a five star read. The plot was extremely predictable - the foreshadowing was more like a highway with neon exit signs - but some of the action scenes redeemed that. The world building was fun and pirate theme was fresh and interesting. For me personally, the save the princess theme was so cliche I am on the fence of finishing this series. Like she’s trained with a sword but gets kidnapped every time, bested by the big burly man grabbing her around the waist even if that is the first thing martial arts teaches women. And of course she is going to walk off alone with whoever to get kidnapped every time. “Woah is me but don’t worry I will be rescued and my boyfriend / father / whoever will kill you “ - again if you’re into that trope you will enjoy this book. I was bored. The pirate king is her soulmate and she has no one to compare him to. They have zero in common but great sex so it will last forever. Bottom line is this book is fun but not original, and the heroine is annoyingly naive, one dimensional, and is great for a read if you don’t want to think very hard. It’s ok..Version: 4.36.1
Rising out of hatredAn amazing account of personal transformation. I too grew up with a racist father, surrounded by all of the rhetoric in this community. Awful. I love the courage it took for Roland-Derek to challenge his indoctrination and to find the strength to cut ties with beloved community, even family. That is the hardest part. For real. He said there is guilt in the interviews I’ve seen of his regarding what he helped create. Well, that was happening anyway. The good he has created through his total honesty, vulnerability and accountability - and willingness to speak publicly about it - stands taller and provides more light than any darkness the white nationalist... movement could ever create. He is a light bearer, and it is especially powerful and illuminating BECAUSE of his history. Roland-Derek provides an example of someone to challenge and think for himself within a fear-based, constraining movement. My hat is forever off to this gentleman, a man of TRUE wisdom and bravery while surviving the very human heartbreak of leaving a beloved community that no longer serves. He and Alison are putting their lives on the line by speaking out. I am grateful to Eli for penning this book, and all the others willing to allow their names into this story. Your courage and truth DEEPLY inspires me..Version: 3.35.2
Great Service at a premium priceAudible works great, I can find great titles, get samples of the voices, and I even get a free credit with the higher tier subscription with a few more “premium” titles. The issue for audible is turning the everyday subscriber into a customer; like myself. I pay $10 and watch hundreds of movies and tv shows that last a few hours to hundreds of hours depending on the title. The budgets are bigger, the price for the customer is lower. I pay $10 and listen to thousands of songs, many just a few minutes, some can be hours. I also enjoy podcasts... for no additional fee. Now we get to Audible where I pay $12, more than the others, and get 1 pick and like at an old movie store I become limited and find it difficult to choose the only free title I’ll get because the rest you have to pay for. I loved the audio books, but I’ll never stay a subscriber when I have other content for cheaper and without a secondary pay wall. I listened to a single book in a week, so that’s 4 books a month on average. Since only 1 is free, I could be paying $30, $50, $100 more for the other titles. I signed up with a free trial, stayed for a month after, but will sadly cancel after as they haven’t nailed down a way to monetize in a way that I can have access to hundreds of premium free titles for a low monthly cost..Version: 3.39
Terrible UXIt should not be this difficult to BUY something from a company. I should be able to make purchases inside the app or at least click a button that would take me directly to an outside URL where I can pay for the item I want. Will delete app after listening to a podcast series only on Audible..Version: 2.27
There could be major improvements to this appThe app worked better before, after all these updates the app for IOS is very flaky. Cuts out, freezes, stops, won’t load, a whole mess of things. My rating has gone down for this app since the quality has gone down significantly..Version: 3.1.1
Frustrating despite great UII like the UI of the Apple Watch app. The big play/pause button in the middle works great. I like how I can slide the same button to the left to rewind. Good design. However, I’ve deleted the app. Why? Because it does not remember where I was and keeps going back to the beginning. I cannot stand it. It’s just too frustrating. This lack of position remembering and syncing with the iPhone completely ruined the user experience despite the good UI design. I’ll use the app again only if this fatal defect is fixed..Version: 3.0.1
Thank you Tim!Tim is my mentor. I am so blessed..Version: 3.69.1
Phone app is good, Watch app is super annoyingThis is a tough review to write. The iPhone app is pretty awesome. It works very well most of the time with only the occasional crash. (It also sometimes does not play well with my car’s audio system, but I suspect that’s more about my Hyundai than it is a failing of the Audible app!) The Apple Watch app, however is a complete train-wreck. When you’re playing an audiobook on your phone, it completely takes over your watch and DEMANDS that you feed it a book. You can try to dismiss it, but it just pops back up and tells you again how you can sync a book to your watch. Again and again and again. It is evil. Once you’ve sacrificed a book to the watch app (which takes FOREVER!), you then get player controls that, again, can’t be dismissed. When you’re playing an audiobook, you no longer have a watch. You have an Audible remote control. That is all you can do. Funny thing is that without the Audible watch app installed, you still have control using the built in Now Playing function so the app literally adds nothing except the ability to listen to audiobooks when you’re not near your phone and endless, endless annoyance. Best thing you can do is uninstall it as soon as possible..Version: 3.0.1
Stupid AppThey make it way to complicated just to listen to books, which you have to buy, besides the 14$/a month you already pay!! I can’t believe people have rated this 5 stars, barely deserves 1..Version: 3.41.1

Everyone should read or hear this book!Fabulous book full of humour and excellent points! Update glitchWhy am I unable to tap any selections now in the library menu. All I am able to tap is “browse full Audible catalogue” with no success tapping on any of the headers for “audio books, podcasts, wish list etc”. Whatever update happened has made this extremely not user friendly and a bit of a hassle to be honest. I cannot actually find my way to the library. Odd way to update your service.Version: 4.27
Great App But Stop Messing With Bookmarks!Love the app, been listening to audio books with audible for ten years now. Gone through a few bugs but they’ve been settled promptly after reaching out to support. However, one of my biggest annoyances is that they keep renaming and moving the bookmarks button! I have had to retrain my muscle memory three times already this year because they changed it to clip and moved it, then they changed it back to bookmarks, now it’s clips again and way down the list of options. I will reduce the stars on my review each time this changes again..Version: 4.49
